Valence Electrons and Gilbert Newton Lewis
Lewis Dot Structures Throughout the 20th century, Gilbert Newton Lewis, found a way on how to
have a more visual way to look at valence electrons for elements. This method of thinking helped
the perspective of looking at valence electrons and how those valence electrons bond with other
chemicals or substances. That method is called the Lewis dot structure. When Gilbert Newton
Lewis was learning how to draw the Lewis dot structures, he actually found useful information on
what element people were working with. In Lewis dot structures; there are important bits of
information like electronlocation on where the electrons are the number or types of bonds, and
perhaps the shape of the atom.
In element bonding or the elements electron placement, it is very important to take note of. This
concept is important because when figuring out the location of the electrons, you can find out what
needs to bond or exchange with other elements that it wants to. Also when finding out the electron
placement of the element, this can show the properties of the element. This part of the atom that is
capable of doing this is the valence orbital or valence shell. Another piece of important parts of a
Lewis dot structure is the shape or geometric shape of the atom. In order to discuss and predict
chemical properties, you have to understand at least the shape or figure of the atom. When you
understand this concept, you can maybe learn about the element or the atom s mass,
electronegativity,

Cold War Summary
In the 1940s, the Cold War Era emerged in which the world had to choose between democracy and
communism. Winston Churchill s famous speech about the Iron Curtain divided Eastern and
Western Europe and encouraged the resistance and containment of communism. Americans fear,
doubt, and conflict with communismintensified when McCarthy accused them of being communists
without evidence. This threat, whether real or imagined, profoundly impacted Americans which
prompted the hunt for communists.
Individuals on the government level and the local level worked to eradicate communists. The
country assumed that individuals, ...who subscribed to the Daily Worker, helped organize a left
wing union, bought insurance from the International Workers Order, and urged the United Statesto
keep out of war in 1940... belonged to the Communists party. Consequently, Truman created the
federal government s loyalty security program under Executive Order 9835. This program led
employers to fire thousands of people for alleged information and miniscule matters.
Individuals associated the actions of advocates for workers rights, including unions, to communism.
Thus, the country created the Taft Hartley Act, Port Security Program, and so on to protect the
county. According to Senator Warren Magnuson, Some of the last stronghold of the Communist

Del Porfirismo A La RevoluciГіn
The mural Del Porfirismo a la RevoluciГіn (From the Dictatorship of Porfirio Diaz to the
Revolution) is a portrayal of Porfirio DГaz s leadership and the Mexican Revolution. It is a very
accurate representation of the uprising as this mural was created right during the Mexican
Revolution. You can see how unpleasant of a time this was in Mexicofrom the mood of the picture:
the dull but vibrant colours, the striking images, and the grim faces. In the mural there is a spot
showing the citizens rising up against the ruling elite. They are wearing zapatista clothing,
signifying that they are supporters of Emiliano Zapata, a revolutionist at the time. Meanwhile, to the
right, Porfirio DГaz sits in comfort watching women dance. Porfirio DГaz is enjoying himself
whilst sitting, just watching and doing nothing about what is happening all around him. A whole
country is revolting and he isn t doing anything. On top of that, his foot is resting on the Mexican
Constitution. This is a very provocative piece Siqueiros made and truly shows politics and art went
together for him. It shows the emotion of the Mexican population and how much they had to go
through and how hard they fought for a better country. Emotion and vigor radiates from every

One can just feel the emotion and pain of the people of this time, almost as if they lived through
it. That s how good of a job the artist did with this piece. I think people today would be very
upset at this message, because the truth of the corruptness and struggle at the time is very
upsetting. People today will see this mural and get a clearer sense of what the Mexican people at
this time had to live through and from this gain a deeper understanding and appreciation. After all,

Bill Gates Informative Speech Essay
In the past century, what has cause more amount of deaths than wars? Epidemic diseases. Bill
Gates, the CEO of Microsoft, has vigorously brought to concern how unprepared we are for the
next outbreak. For example, in the Ebola disease outbreak, the panics of thousands and/or
millions across the globe rose since we weren t prepared for such an event to happen. Therefore, in
order to reduce the catastrophes around the world, we must spread the information of how to deal
with the epidemic diseases before they spread. With this being said, Gates utilizes an effective
debate supported by the provided examples of the purpose, audience, and context of his TED talk
speech. Last but not least, the influence of spreading the knowledge around the world, will aid with
the containment of the next outbreak.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, he presents a prop and states the following, When I was a kid, the disaster we
worried about most was a nuclear war. That s why we had a barrel like this down in our
basement, filled with cans of food and water. When the nuclear attack came, we were supposed to
go downstairs, hunker down, and eat out of that barrel (Gates). This brief introductory statement
represents how he wanted to use the visualization of the audience as a hook to grab the readers
attention. Furthermore, Gates attacks our sentimental feelings by organizing a PowerPoint that
exhibits a set of statistics and past photos of the epidemics in the world. Thus, Gates uses several
types of pathos to attach some form of emotion to the rational audience. These examples
represented above, such as the unique barrel that he introduces and the photos provided in his his
PowerPoint has exemplified Gate s emotional appeal towards the audience. In the end, Gates uses
the following models as a manipulation towards improving world s readiness for the future disease

Essay on Self Evaluation on Group Discussion
The group discussion has just passed, and it was really a hard work and challenging. There were
many precious lessons I got, and, hopefully, so did with my friends. Our group was consisting of
four students. As a quantity, reasonably, we had had enough power to do a better work and gained
a satisfying result. As I flashed back to the groupdiscussion, it was enriching my memories. Some
were in high spirit, remarkable and enjoyable. Opposite to it, few were disappointing.
I still remembered that when we directed for the first meeting everyone was very enthusiastic and
really keened to do it sooner. It was a successful meeting. Unfortunately, I had to let my friend knew

Hopefully, we would get a wide point of view to the case. Happily, it was worked out. We
collected the problems and everyone got certain problems to look for more information. I, myself,
got to check out more for health insurance and law matters. Also, we had second meeting to
discuss about the report and presentation. At the meeting, we decided to give one or two topics
each. Everyone got the same chance to get the topics. Due to I got an introduction only, therefore,
I had to help other pals. In addition, I offered myself to edit the report and hope for the others
contribution as well. At the end of the meeting everyone was told to send their parts to me, and we
would have an online meeting. Also, the part that we got at the day would be, automatically, his or
her responsibility for the presentation. This was a very interesting and incredible group.
Everyone had sent me their part to me. After I compiled and edited the report we would have
further meeting. We discussed about the next meeting online. Everyone had agreed to have the
meeting in the next two days. After class a day prior to the meeting, everyone was told the
meeting was going to be at nine o clock next day. As usual, I came on time. My friends weren t at
the meeting point yet. I thought they would be late for fifteen or twenty minutes. I started working
with the report. I wrote the whole report. I had finished the report at, less or more, ten in

Sympathy For The Poor In The Late 17th Century
Throughout the mid 14th to late 17th century, almost half of Europe s population was considered
poor. Many different standpoints on the poor were taken. Some felt that there should be a
distinction between those that were poor and idle, and those that were poor but unable to find a
job. Others felt that alms (charity), along with sympathy should ve been given to the poor. An
alternate view was that those who were poor wanted to remain poor. Of the many opinions
towards the poor, many took the stance that alms and sympathy should ve been given to the poor.
A Catholic priest during a sermon in France (1) stated that in heaven, it is worth more for every
penny you give to charity when you are healthy, then when you are sick or dead. Giving charity...

William Turner, an English doctor in his book New Booke of Spiritual Physick (6) stated that he
could ve healed the poor so that they could work again, but instead they would have rather
remained unhealthy so they did not need to work. He felt that the idle wanted to maintain their
life style, so they did not need to earn a living through great pain and labor. In the Poorhouse
regulations in Suffolk County, England (7), anyone that was a member of the house had to
receive whippings to identify themselves of poor. Anyone that was stubborn received heavier
shackles and harder labor. The poor house demonstrated that people would rather be whipped,
behave well in the poorhouse, and remain poor than try to find a job and work to support
themselves. Lastly, Jean Malliefer, a wealthy Merchant in his letter to his children in Reims,
France (11) made a strong claim that the poor wanted to stay the way they were. They have no
cares, pay no taxes, and have no losses to fear. They are independent, warm themselves by the sun..

Clinical Laboratory And Nursing Laboratory
Clinical laboratory, what comes to your mind when you hear that word? Do you think of one
department such as Phlebotomy or many departments? After reading this paper you will have a
better understanding about the departments of the clinical laboratory and what exactly a clinical
laboratory is. There is more than just Phlebotomy when it comes to the clinical laboratory. I ll be
explaining what a clinical laboratory is and seven departments of the clinical laboratory. First,
what is a clinical laboratory? A clinical laboratory is a laboratory with several departments that
perform test to help provide better information to the patient to provide them with a diagnosis, a
treatment or even to prevent disease. So who oversee these labs? One of the monitoring agencies
is American society of clinical laboratory science. They assure reliable test results which contribute
to the prevention, diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment of physiological and pathological conditions.
In 1988 The Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act of 1988 was inputted. (CLIA 88) This act has
divided the clinical laboratory testing in to waved, moderately complex, and highly complex
categories . Waved testing is a simple and accurate test. Some examples would be pregnancy test,
bloodglucose test, and also the urine dipstick test. Moderately complex testing is manual procedures
with minimal steps and minimal preparation. Highly complex testing is including all laboratory
testing. There are many positions in

Helicobacter Pylori Report
Helicobacter pylori
Introduction
Helicobacter pylori, also known as H. pylori, is a spiral bacterium that lives inside the human
stomach. H. pylori likes the acidic environment that the stomach provides and evidence has linked it
to a variety of minor gastrointestinal illnesses. H. pylori causes inflammation in the lining of the
stomach and is involved in 90% of stomach and intestinal ulcers. H. pylori also has an apparent
cause to the development of adenocarcinoma, a common stomach cancer. J. Robin Warren first
detected H. pylori in the stomachs of ulcer patients in 1979. Warren then isolated the microbe in a
culture and tested it effects by swallowing some of the inoculum. A short term case of gastritis

pylori. One way to test for H. pylori is to do a Breath Test. When taking the breath test, the
person has to stop taking antibiotics or Pepto Bismol up to 2 weeks before the testing. During
the test, the swallowing of a special substance that has urea is necessary. The body uses the urea
to break down protein and the urea used for the test is made harmlessly radioactive. If H. pylori
is present, the bacteria convert the urea into CO2 which is then detected and recorded in the
persons exhale breath 10 minutes after. This test is very affective in determining whether a
person has H. pylori or not. The next test is a blood test which is used to measure antibodies to
H. pylori. The test can only tell if a person has H. pylori antibodies but it cannot tell if the person
currently have the infection or how long they have had the infection. The blood test cannot be
used to see if the infection has been cured after treatment. The third type of test is the stool test
that can detect traces of H. pylori in the feces. The stool test can be used to diagnose the
infection and confirm that it has been cured after the treatment. The fourth type of test is a
biopsy (a tissue sample) that is taken from the stomach lining and a biopsy is the most accurate
way to tell if a person has H. pylori. To remove the tissue sample from the lining of the stomach
the person has to go through a procedure called an endoscopy and this procedure is done in the
hospital. Reasons for needing an endoscopy include diagnosing the ulcer, treating bleeding, or
making sure there is no cancer (Tests for H. pylori,

My Career Path Journey Is An Excellent Goal For Any...
The idea of returning to school to master new skills to compete in the workplace is an excellent
goal for any working adult. However, it is important for the working adult to understand success is
base upon the journey taken and the path chosen by someone. One must realize there will be many
barriers and difficulties along the way; however, with dedication, ability to prioritize, and motivation
to stay focus, I will succeed and graduate with my Master degree in Nursing in October 2017. For
me to be successful in achieving this goal, there are different pathways that I must chose and
followed. These are assessing my learning styles, finding ways to manage my time, money, and
stress, and setting S.M.A.R.T goals.
Being motivated is a good start, but personal motivation alone is no guarantee of achieving an
educational objective. The first step that I need to take as I move into my career path journey is
assessing my learning styles. After been out of school for sixteen years, it is clear that the world I
learned from is different than today s method of teaching; therefore, it is important for me to
assess my learning style to find out what works for me. After I had completed the Multiple
Pathways assessment test, I discovered my learning styles were interpersonal and intrapersonal. As
I was reading the definition of these two styles, I was not surprised that I fall into this category. My
interpersonal learning style defines my character. It helps me understand my ability to

Pros And Cons Of Gimo
GITMO is still open because it is a US military base in the Caribbean that provides a strategic
foothold into Latin America and probably irritates the Castro regime to no end. If you are asking
why GITMO is still being used as a facility for the detention of personnel that have been identified
as terrorists or insurgents; that would be because we don t want to house them in the contiguous
United Statesand there are limited other options for where to move the remaining detainees without
another country being willing to take custody or a military tribunal to determine the guilt or
innocence of the individual in detention.
The promise made by President Obama was a cute promise made by a man who wanted to be
elected as our President, but had yet to realize the undertaking that it would be to actually take to
close GITMO as a detention facility. I agree, that GITMO should be closed as a detention facility
because this should not be the responsibility of the US people to continue playing world police. I
would make the argument for detaining the enemy combatants in the country they were arrested in,

The Tell Tale Heart
The Tell Tale Heart is a story about a man who killed an old man just because he didn t like the

The Tell Tale Heart where the murder is very confident about what he had done and planned the
whole murder whereas Acton didn t really plan to kill Huxley, but Acton in his mindthought that
Huxley knew all along that he was going to get murdered. Acton thought that Huxley planned to get
murdered and so told Acton to touch a lot of stuff in the house for example on page 83 Huxley
said: There s a bottle of burgundy, Acton. Mind fetching it from that cabinet?
Yes, fetch it. Handle it. Touch it. He did.
Than Acton thought that Huxley was basically setting him up. Once Acton strangled Huxley he
had started to clean the house of fingerprints. That was all fine and well but Acton didn t clean only
the door knobs, glasses, cup and things like that which he touched he cleaned the whole house the
walls, the couch absolutely everything which was a sign of big paranoia from Acton.
The character in The Tell Tale Heart had a lot of conversations throughout the story but all the
conversations were to himself. The things that the character talked about were very strange. He
talked about how every night at midnight for the last week he came to check on

identity; the way the public defines itself and actively relies on it to express its beliefs and

The Impact Of Industrialization On Society During The...
Examine in detail the History of the Industrial Revolution. Discuss why Britain led the way in the
Industrial Revolution and also explain in detail the effects of industrialization on society.
Had it not been for the industrial revolution, I would doubt very much that we would enjoy the
technology we have in the year 2000. The reason we have this technology is that between the
years 1750 and 1914 a great change in the world s history was made. People started to discover
faster methods of producing goods, which increased their economy. These people were mainly
British and French, but after a few years the French were distracted by their revolution, and the
British continued to industrialize. However you must not think this industrialization had no effects
on society because it did. So in this essay I am going to talk about the history of the industrial
revolution, discuss why Britain led the way in the industrial revolution and also I am going to
explain to you in detail the effects of industrialization on society.
In the midevel ages people were living in total darkness, and they did not know what was going
on in the world around them. Happily the medieval ages were followed by the renaissance. Then
came the year 1750, the year of the agricultural revolution in Britain which led away to a
revolution in industry. Charles Townshend for example was one of the people who made the
agricultural revolution possible. He suggested rotating the crops every year or two, to help

The global economy has become massive in size, breadth and diversity. There are enormous
opportunities but they are also fraught with complexity. The interconnectedness between fast

relationships that must be managed. Business complexityis increasing every day. Although
initiating a business is easier than a decade ago, sustaining and growing a business is more

When you reduce complexity, you increase your ability to implement new solutions, says AndrГ©

more easily. Today, all CIOs are standing in the path of a fire hose spewing complexity. And many
are getting soaked.
Within IT, factors that increase complexity include outsourcing management, the adoption of Web
and consumer technologies, and support for mobile workforces, developing and managing
technology architectures and governance for those workforces, and ensuring security in a
distributed environment. Outside of IT s direct control, complexity is increased by the
requirements of compliance, the need to support global business, and the speed and depth of
access to information demanded by your customers and your partners. Companies can with
difficulty handle these challenges individually, one at a time. But in the real world companies face
many, if not all, of these challenges, all at once, over and over. That s why you need a strategy to

decisions that come up in life. The cracks represent the flaws you can find and the inevitable
accidents that will occur. But each day more and more fissures / crisscross your path, and like
the lines/ on your palms, they mean something. (6 8) These lines show that each days more
incidents and troubles, the fissures , will come up in your life, the bad things will happen in
your life time, crisscross your path, and like the lines on your palms, they mean something,
however, every time you experience a bad accident or disaster, which it seems at the time, you
will learn something. It also seems like fate is a big theme in this piece and the human reaction
to fate s doings. On lines 8 and 9, on your palms, they mean something/ you cannot decipher,
shows fate s working in manufacturing these cracks. What they incidents mean, or what you can
learn from them however, is still a mystery because it is brought on by fate, such as the example
of lines on your palms, and how some people believe they are a representation of one s future.
The lines Finally you must choose between / standing still in the one solid spot / you have found,
or you keep moving / and take the risk: / Break your mother s back. (10 14) show the choices
humans have to make in relation to the events brought on like fate. This poem describes that like in
Romeo and Juliet fate isn t just responsible for Romeo and

Cole Forgiven In Touching Spirit Bear
Being forgiven means to be accepted by those you ve wronged. Forgiving doesn t mean you
forget. In Ben Mikaelsen s Touching Spirit Bear, Cole must not only be forgiven by Peter but
also, he must forgive himself. In the end of the novel, Cole has repaid his debt. He should be
forgiven Cole should be forgiven because he has changed after his mauling. After being mauled
and viewing a near death experience, Cole decided it was time to throw in the towel. In the
beginning, Cole thought being mauled was a chance to show dominance against others. Cole
thought that if he had survived he would bring the white locks of the bear s hair back as a
symbol of dominance, it was undermining, and so meaningless it made me sick. An important
stage in Cole s transformation from being his old self to his new self is when he was in the
hospital on the island, Garvey and Edwin didn t believe he got mauled and they asked for
evidence. Cole had the locks of hair in his pocket, but he had a what if moment, if he had shown
them the hair they would realize that he tried to attack the bear too, if he didn t, well we would
be in this position right now. Another important stage in Cole s change and why he should be
forgiven is the baby sparrows. As Cole was watching his body decay he saw these baby sparrows
and quoted, Even in death,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cole hasn t repaid his debt because it took him two trips to the island to finally succeed his trial.
Another reason why Cole shouldn t be forgiven is because when he first got to the island,
Garvey and Edwin were explaining the Spirit Bear, Cole said that he would kill the Spirit Bear.
Also, when Cole was getting mauled he shouted that he was vulnerable at the bear. Cole wanted us
to think he had enough and that he was ready to change, but really he just wanted the attack to
stop. All of these examples may show that Cole shouldn t be forgiven, however, in the end, Cole
has repaid his debt and was

Main Themes In Chinese Cinderella
The book Chinese Cinderella, written by Adeline Yen Mah has four main themes. They are: family
relationships, abandonment loneliness, self esteem and history. The author Adeline Yen Mah, also
wrote the book Falling Leaves but Chinese Cinderella was written for younger audiences. Chinese
Cinderella is actually an autobiography, not a fairy tale. Adeline (the protagonist) has to work for
her dreams, not by wishing from a fairy godmother. This book was set in the 1900 s (1941 1952).
At that time WW2 was happening making Adeline s life harder. The moral of this book would be
that no matter your circumstances, you can work hard and achieve your dreams. This book is
really captivating and it tells the reader not to underestimate anyone. That s why I think this is an
amazing book for everyone to read.
There are a range of genres in Chinese Cinderella. They are adventure, drama, and history. The
genres change the story from being a fairy tale to a true autobiography. As the book s genres are
adventure and history, it does not relate to the fairy tale of Cinderella. Adeline s childhood is
harsh and she has to find her own ways without a fairy godmother. At the start of multiple
chapters, the year is written and historical events are told, which gives the reader historical
knowledge. Another historical scene is when Nai Nai was telling Adeline about her bound feet
(page 7 8). There are lots of dramas and adventures that go on in Adeline s world, which relate to
the themes. These genres make the book harder to put down.
The plot and structure in this autobiography makes the story of Adeline s childhood flow better.
The orientation started by Niang marrying Adeline s father. At Adeline s birth her mother died so
Adeline was treated badly and unfairly. In the complication, Adeline was unwanted from the start.
She was sent away to an orphanage because she was wanted by no one. In the resolution Adeline
decided after winning the playwriting competition that she wanted to be a writer. She studied
medicine at Oxford University with Third Brother. The reflection is that no matter what your
conditions are you can achieve anything like Adeline did. In the story Adeline read a newspaper

Description about the Sensors in the Network
. PROBLEM STATEMENT PROPOSED SCHEME
This section gives the description about the sensors, respective public and private key pair model
and event generation in the network. This is followed by the threat model of the network and the
kind of adversaries which pose threat to the network. The design goals of the proposed scheme are
also listed.
Figure 1. Network model with attack scenario
1 System Model
We consider the sensors S={S1,S2, S3, .....Sx} are deployed where x is the population of the
deployed sensors. Nodes are assumed to be deployed in uniform random distribution. Prior to
deployment, each sensor is assumed to be loaded with a public /private keypair (pi; si), for i = 1; 2;
3; 4;.....x. Among the public key cryptosystems available, we assume to used ID based public key
cryptography.
The event generation in the network, is considered to be random. Event is sensed by the
neighboring sensor nodes where the event has occurred. These neighboring nodes will try to report
the event occurred to the sink or base station through anonymous authentication, maintaining the
privacy of the event as well as privacy of the nodes in terms of location and identity. So the
neighboring nodes of the occurred event will form a ring signature groups addressing other
selective nodes in the network. The size of the rings will depend on the number of neighboring
nodes when the event has occurred. The payload of the messages will depend on the number of
nodes in the anonymity set of

The Government Protecting Citizens from Corruption
Introduction The fundamental ground of our democracy is The First Amendment that gives its
citizens the promise of freedom of expression. The First Amendment may be seen as a concept of
basic freedom, which carries the idea that it, is more important to practice rather than to protect it.
Regardless if a person is liberal or conservative, Republican or Democrat, the role within the United
Statesgovernment is to carry out essential responsibilities its citizens cannot perform. The United
States citizens are responsible of electing politicians into government positions to solve the
problems the country faces. One of those problems is corruption.
The power of money is at the center of political corruption and even though fraud has been in
existence for a long time, in recent years it has become a lot worse. In the past when politicians
sought to run for office each individual had to raise a few thousand dollars, businesses in the past
were smaller, manageable and the risk factors were minimal. Currently political contributions run
in the millions, making Washington a booming business. Most of the money that is raised goes to
lobbyist, campaign aids, deceiving PR operations, and pretentious grass roots groups. The
American citizens have felt the repercussion with the political and lobbying establishments who
are now in control of the public debates and the policy making process all for the benefit of the
well financed special interest groups. My paper will focus on how the

The Lack Of Education And Global Inequalities In Kenya
Global inequalities are the things that society identifies as not equal and unfair. There are many
inequalities in Kenya including income, life expectancy, education, water, gender and poverty
inequalities. Although these are negative problems, opportunities in Kenya have shown
improvement as people are starting to make a difference by sending more people to school and
giving children education they need and also food and water for people to survive. Amnesty
Internationaland Unicef are all apart of the world trying to make a difference. Amnesty International
is the world s largest and most respected human rightsorganisation. Amnesty campaigns against
abuse of human rights around the world. The other NGO that I have chose is UNICEF who
promotes the rights and wellbeing of every child in the world.
The lack of opportunities is a struggle in Kenya for women and children as they are a very poor
country and can t afford food and education for their community. The people that are affected by
this are women and children who are treated differently. Some of the many inequalities for women
are that they are paid less than men, this is due to gender inequality and discrimination against
women. It has scientifically shown that women are earning what men were paid in 2006 and will
take another 118 years for women to be equally paid the same as men. Another inequality for
women in Kenya is that they are less educated than men, this is evident as they have less access to
education,

Techniques Used For Air Navigation Essay
The techniques used for air navigation will depend on whether the aircraft is in flight under Visual
Flight Rules (VFR) or Instrument Flight Rules (IFR). In the latter case, the pilot will navigate
exclusively using radio navigation instruments and aids such as beacons, or as directed under radar
control by air traffic control. In the case of VFR, a pilot navigates heavily using dead calculations
combined with visual (pilot) observations, referring to appropriate maps. This can be supplemented
using radio navigation aids.
Given the flight plan and the position of the aircraft, the flight management system calculates the
route to be taken. The driver can take this course manually, or the autopilot can be configured to
take the course.
The flight management system mode is normally called LNAV or lateral navigation for the lateral
flight plan and VNAV or vertical navigation for the vertical flight plan. VNAV provides targets and
speeds of height and altitude, and LNAV provides a balanced control of automatic piloting.

During the construction of the Canadian Pacific Railway in 1881 1885, the discrimination against
Chinese workers demonstrates social injustice.
Summary The Canadian Pacific Railway was the first transcontinental railway built in Canada to
connect Canada from coast to coast. (Canadian Pacific Para. 9) The construction almost delayed
completely because of John A. MacDonald losing power, but it was finally continued with the help
of a syndicate. (Canadian Pacific Para. 4) Due to the insufficient amount of adequate workers in

Reflection About Culture
We live in a world that is more sedentary. Our contents of our world are available for purchase with
the swipe of a finger. If you are hungry you no longer need to go shopping or visit a restaurant. If
you are lonely you don t need to attend a party or visit family. If you need a new pair of shoes or
a book for college, you don t need to visit the mall or local bookstore. All of these things are
sitting in your little electronic device. The sustenance, social interaction or bauble you desire is
just on the other side. There is no need to point fingers or assign blame, it is just our evolving
culture and it has some growing pains. The best we can do it look for ways to improve our lot in
life and capitalize on what is a weakness and make it a strength. As our culture becomes less
active we see more physical and health reflections of inactive lifestyles. Obesity, diabetes, heart
disease and more are lurking in the corners of each and every life in our society. It may be a family
member or a friend but it touches everyone. The challenge is to make the chore of activity less of a
chore and more of a recreation. Athletics and physical activity look like work and the perception is,
if it looks like work, it is work. Mark Twain s character Tom Sawyerdiscovered Work consists of
whatever a body is obliged to do, and that play consists of whatever a body is not obliged to do.

The Controversy Of Stem Cell Research
The Controversy of Stem Cell Research The ethics of research involving fetuses or material
derived from fetuses have been widely debated for over three decades, portrayed by its proponents
as holding the key to scientific and medical breakthrough and by its opponents as devaluing the
most basic form of human life. The latest chapter in this long saga involves the use of embryonic
stem cells. Research in this field took a great leap forward in 1998, when the first successes in
growing human stem cells in culture were reported independently by Drs. James Thomson and John
Gearhart. According to the National Institutes of Health, embryonic stem cellresearch
promises...possible cures for many debilitating diseases and injuries, including Parkinson s disease,
diabetes, heart disease, multiple sclerosis, burns, and spinal cord injuries. The NIH believes the
potential medical benefits of human pluripotent stem cell technology are compelling and worthy of
pursuit in accordance with appropriate ethical standards (National Institutes of Health 2000).
Research in this new and developing field has sparked controversy centered on the moral
implications of destroying human embryos and poses several compelling ethical questions. Among
them: Does life begin at fertilization, in the womb, or at birth? Might the destruction of a single
human embryo be justified if it can alleviate the pain and suffering of many patients? In order to
properly understand the moral implications argued

Today the militiaare unofficial citizens armies organized by private individuals, usually with

Militia growth appears to have been steady throughout 1995 and the first half of 1996 (Sonder,
2000).
The primary illegal activities among militia groups are related to weapons and explosives.
Militia groups in Virginia, West Virginia, Georgia, Washington, Arizona, Nevada, Colorado,
California, and a number of other states have seen members arrested for possession of illegal
weapons and explosives. People in the movement tend to give inflated numbers, in order to make
their movement seem larger, and at the same time, because they are so paranoid, will refuse to
allow people to actually count their numbers. In addition, groups go in and out of existence all the
time, and there are many people who are part of the movement, without being card carrying
members of any one particular group. There are some groups few people know about because they
are underground. All these factors together make it impossible to say with any certainty how many
militia groups there are. The number of groups is certainly in the hundreds.
The militia movement has many people who could be called law abiding citizens. However, many
members conduct criminal activity (Dees, 1996). The most common is the collection of illegal
weapons and explosives. Sometimes these illegal arsenals are stunning in their size. Since militia
members tend to believe that they have the right to own whatever sort of weapon they

Pros And Cons Of Banning Books
Banning books seems like a great idea, but in reality people are going to read, and do, whatever
they want to. A lot of books have explicit language, violence, and sexual content. Most kids know
about all of those things, even though they shouldn t know about those things. Banning them from
reading a bookthat includes those explicit things, at school, doesn t mean they won t go and read
it at home, or at a friends house. Schools, and public libraries, have been trying to ban certain
books with, what they see as, inappropriate content for many years now. Everyone has a different
opinion on what is appropriate and what is not. Kids going to public schools are going to hear,
and learn, explicit language, see violence, and probably even see people doing sexual things, or at
least hear about it. Authors are going to write about whatever they want, it is their right to express
how they are feeling, or what they are thinking. The Biblewas also on the banned book list, and
most people would argue that anyone who is reading The Bible is a Christian. It shouldn t matter
what content is in The Bible, if that s not your religion you have no sense reading that book.
Banning books is not going to keep kids from learning things, that in reality, they shouldn t be
learning. Banning books, in the end, is really hurting the author more than anyone.
Kids learn crazy things going to school, especially public school. A lot of people think that banning
certain books would help that. But,

The Argument Against Gay Marriges
Arguments against gay marriges Though there are differences in the views of different faiths,
conservative Protestants, the Catholic Church, Mormons, traditional Jews, and Muslims share
two fundamental antigay arguments. The first is that homosexuality is wrong because it
involves sex that doesn t create life. In the case of Judaism, a key Bible passage is the story of
Onan (Links to an external site.), who sleeps with his dead brother s wife but, to avoid giving
his brother offspring, doesn t ejaculate inside her. Instead, he spilt the seed on the ground. God
slew him, which some might view as a sign of disapproval (Links to an external site.).The
Catholic catechism decries (Links to an external site.) homosexual acts because they close the
sexual act to the gift of life. Early American antisodomy laws discouraged all forms of non
procreative sex (including, incidentally, heterosexual oral and anal sex). Islam shares a similar
view. One Islamic hadith explains that Allah will not look at the man who commits sodomy with
a man or a woman. But if non procreative sex is the issue, society started down the slippery slope
not with the recent Supreme Court ruling but with production of the pill or, really, even earlier,
when birth control became common. We ve been into the non procreative sex thing for some time
now. Even most religious conservatives don t have the heart to go after this. If sex without the
possibility of creating life is wrong, then religious

According to Newswire, Jim Key said Polls have shown that when an individual knows someone
who is gay or lesbian, that person is far more likely to support equal rights for the LGBT
community... When she bravely, loudly, and proudly came out, I m sure there are many people
who suddenly felt like they knew their first gay person ( Ellen s Coming Out 1). Ellen DeGeneres

  • 2. Valence Electrons and Gilbert Newton Lewis Lewis Dot Structures Throughout the 20th century, Gilbert Newton Lewis, found a way on how to have a more visual way to look at valence electrons for elements. This method of thinking helped the perspective of looking at valence electrons and how those valence electrons bond with other chemicals or substances. That method is called the Lewis dot structure. When Gilbert Newton Lewis was learning how to draw the Lewis dot structures, he actually found useful information on what element people were working with. In Lewis dot structures; there are important bits of information like electronlocation on where the electrons are the number or types of bonds, and perhaps the shape of the atom. In element bonding or the elements electron placement, it is very important to take note of. This concept is important because when figuring out the location of the electrons, you can find out what needs to bond or exchange with other elements that it wants to. Also when finding out the electron placement of the element, this can show the properties of the element. This part of the atom that is capable of doing this is the valence orbital or valence shell. Another piece of important parts of a Lewis dot structure is the shape or geometric shape of the atom. In order to discuss and predict chemical properties, you have to understand at least the shape or figure of the atom. When you understand this concept, you can maybe learn about the element or the atom s mass, electronegativity, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Cold War Summary In the 1940s, the Cold War Era emerged in which the world had to choose between democracy and communism. Winston Churchill s famous speech about the Iron Curtain divided Eastern and Western Europe and encouraged the resistance and containment of communism. Americans fear, doubt, and conflict with communismintensified when McCarthy accused them of being communists without evidence. This threat, whether real or imagined, profoundly impacted Americans which prompted the hunt for communists. Individuals on the government level and the local level worked to eradicate communists. The country assumed that individuals, ...who subscribed to the Daily Worker, helped organize a left wing union, bought insurance from the International Workers Order, and urged the United Statesto keep out of war in 1940... belonged to the Communists party. Consequently, Truman created the federal government s loyalty security program under Executive Order 9835. This program led employers to fire thousands of people for alleged information and miniscule matters. Individuals associated the actions of advocates for workers rights, including unions, to communism. Thus, the country created the Taft Hartley Act, Port Security Program, and so on to protect the county. Del Porfirismo A La RevoluciГіn The mural Del Porfirismo a la RevoluciГіn (From the Dictatorship of Porfirio Diaz to the Revolution) is a portrayal of Porfirio DГaz s leadership and the Mexican Revolution. It is a very accurate representation of the uprising as this mural was created right during the Mexican Revolution. You can see how unpleasant of a time this was in Mexicofrom the mood of the picture: the dull but vibrant colours, the striking images, and the grim faces. In the mural there is a spot showing the citizens rising up against the ruling elite. They are wearing zapatista clothing, signifying that they are supporters of Emiliano Zapata, a revolutionist at the time. Meanwhile, to the right, Porfirio DГaz sits in comfort watching women dance. Porfirio DГaz is enjoying himself whilst sitting, just watching and doing nothing about what is happening all around him. A whole country is revolting and he isn t doing anything. On top of that, his foot is resting on the Mexican Constitution. This is a very provocative piece Siqueiros made and truly shows politics and art went together for him. Bill Gates, the CEO of Microsoft, has vigorously brought to concern how unprepared we are for the next outbreak. For example, in the Ebola disease outbreak, the panics of thousands and/or millions across the globe rose since we weren t prepared for such an event to happen. Therefore, in order to reduce the catastrophes around the world, we must spread the information of how to deal with the epidemic diseases before they spread. This brief introductory statement represents how he wanted to use the visualization of the audience as a hook to grab the readers attention. Furthermore, Gates attacks our sentimental feelings by organizing a PowerPoint that exhibits a set of statistics and past photos of the epidemics in the world. Of the many opinions towards the poor, many took the stance that alms and sympathy should ve been given to the poor. H. pylori causes inflammation in the lining of the stomach and is involved in 90% of stomach and intestinal ulcers. H. pylori also has an apparent cause to the development of adenocarcinoma, a common stomach cancer. J. Robin Warren first detected H. pylori in the stomachs of ulcer patients in 1979. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... pylori. One way to test for H. pylori is to do a Breath Test. When taking the breath test, the person has to stop taking antibiotics or Pepto Bismol up to 2 weeks before the testing. During the test, the swallowing of a special substance that has urea is necessary. The body uses the urea to break down protein and the urea used for the test is made harmlessly radioactive. If H. pylori is present, the bacteria convert the urea into CO2 which is then detected and recorded in the persons exhale breath 10 minutes after. This test is very affective in determining whether a person has H. pylori or not. The next test is a blood test which is used to measure antibodies to H. pylori. The test can only tell if a person has H. pylori antibodies but it cannot tell if the person currently have the infection or how long they have had the infection. The blood test cannot be used to see if the infection has been cured after treatment. The third type of test is the stool test that can detect traces of H. pylori in the feces. The stool test can be used to diagnose the infection and confirm that it has been cured after the treatment. The fourth type of test is a biopsy (a tissue sample) that is taken from the stomach lining and a biopsy is the most accurate way to tell if a person has H. pylori. To remove the tissue sample from the lining of the stomach the person has to go through a procedure called an endoscopy and this procedure is done in the hospital. Reasons for needing an endoscopy include diagnosing the ulcer, treating bleeding, or making sure there is no cancer (Tests for H. pylori, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Being motivated is a good start, but personal motivation alone is no guarantee of achieving an educational objective. The first step that I need to take as I move into my career path journey is assessing my learning styles. After been out of school for sixteen years, it is clear that the world I learned from is different than today s method of teaching; therefore, it is important for me to assess my learning style to find out what works for me. If you are asking why GITMO is still being used as a facility for the detention of personnel that have been identified as terrorists or insurgents; that would be because we don t want to house them in the contiguous United Statesand there are limited other options for where to move the remaining detainees without another country being willing to take custody or a military tribunal to determine the guilt or innocence of the individual in detention. The promise made by President Obama was a cute promise made by a man who wanted to be elected as our President, but had yet to realize the undertaking that it would be to actually take to close GITMO as a detention facility. I agree, that GITMO should be closed as a detention facility because this should not be the responsibility of the US people to continue playing world police. The reason we have this technology is that between the years 1750 and 1914 a great change in the world s history was made. People started to discover faster methods of producing goods, which increased their economy. These people were mainly British and French, but after a few years the French were distracted by their revolution, and the British continued to industrialize. • 27. Main Themes In Chinese Cinderella The book Chinese Cinderella, written by Adeline Yen Mah has four main themes. They are: family relationships, abandonment loneliness, self esteem and history. The author Adeline Yen Mah, also wrote the book Falling Leaves but Chinese Cinderella was written for younger audiences. Chinese Cinderella is actually an autobiography, not a fairy tale. Adeline (the protagonist) has to work for her dreams, not by wishing from a fairy godmother. This book was set in the 1900 s (1941 1952). At that time WW2 was happening making Adeline s life harder. The moral of this book would be that no matter your circumstances, you can work hard and achieve your dreams. This book is really captivating and it tells the reader not to underestimate anyone. That s why I think this is an amazing book for everyone to read. There are a range of genres in Chinese Cinderella. They are adventure, drama, and history. The genres change the story from being a fairy tale to a true autobiography. As the book s genres are adventure and history, it does not relate to the fairy tale of Cinderella. Adeline s childhood is harsh and she has to find her own ways without a fairy godmother. At the start of multiple chapters, the year is written and historical events are told, which gives the reader historical knowledge. Another historical scene is when Nai Nai was telling Adeline about her bound feet (page 7 8). There are lots of dramas and adventures that go on in Adeline s world, which relate to the themes. These genres make the book harder to put down. The plot and structure in this autobiography makes the story of Adeline s childhood flow better. The orientation started by Niang marrying Adeline s father. At Adeline s birth her mother died so Adeline was treated badly and unfairly. In the complication, Adeline was unwanted from the start. She was sent away to an orphanage because she was wanted by no one. In the resolution Adeline decided after winning the playwriting competition that she wanted to be a writer. She studied medicine at Oxford University with Third Brother. The reflection is that no matter what your conditions are you can achieve anything like Adeline did. • 29. Description about the Sensors in the Network . PROBLEM STATEMENT PROPOSED SCHEME This section gives the description about the sensors, respective public and private key pair model and event generation in the network. This is followed by the threat model of the network and the kind of adversaries which pose threat to the network. The design goals of the proposed scheme are also listed. Figure 1. Network model with attack scenario 1 System Model We consider the sensors S={S1,S2, S3, .....Sx} are deployed where x is the population of the deployed sensors. Nodes are assumed to be deployed in uniform random distribution. Prior to deployment, each sensor is assumed to be loaded with a public /private keypair (pi; si), for i = 1; 2; 3; 4;.....x. Among the public key cryptosystems available, we assume to used ID based public key cryptography. The event generation in the network, is considered to be random. Event is sensed by the neighboring sensor nodes where the event has occurred. These neighboring nodes will try to report the event occurred to the sink or base station through anonymous authentication, maintaining the privacy of the event as well as privacy of the nodes in terms of location and identity. So the neighboring nodes of the occurred event will form a ring signature groups addressing other selective nodes in the network. The size of the rings will depend on the number of neighboring nodes when the event has occurred. The payload of the messages will depend on the number of nodes in the anonymity set of ... The First Amendment may be seen as a concept of basic freedom, which carries the idea that it, is more important to practice rather than to protect it. Regardless if a person is liberal or conservative, Republican or Democrat, the role within the United Statesgovernment is to carry out essential responsibilities its citizens cannot perform. The United States citizens are responsible of electing politicians into government positions to solve the problems the country faces. One of those problems is corruption. The power of money is at the center of political corruption and even though fraud has been in existence for a long time, in recent years it has become a lot worse. In the past when politicians sought to run for office each individual had to raise a few thousand dollars, businesses in the past were smaller, manageable and the risk factors were minimal. Currently political contributions run in the millions, making Washington a booming business. Most of the money that is raised goes to lobbyist, campaign aids, deceiving PR operations, and pretentious grass roots groups. The American citizens have felt the repercussion with the political and lobbying establishments who are now in control of the public debates and the policy making process all for the benefit of the well financed special interest groups. There are many inequalities in Kenya including income, life expectancy, education, water, gender and poverty inequalities. Although these are negative problems, opportunities in Kenya have shown improvement as people are starting to make a difference by sending more people to school and giving children education they need and also food and water for people to survive. Amnesty Internationaland Unicef are all apart of the world trying to make a difference. Amnesty International is the world s largest and most respected human rightsorganisation. Amnesty campaigns against abuse of human rights around the world. The other NGO that I have chose is UNICEF who promotes the rights and wellbeing of every child in the world. The lack of opportunities is a struggle in Kenya for women and children as they are a very poor country and can t afford food and education for their community. The people that are affected by this are women and children who are treated differently. Some of the many inequalities for women are that they are paid less than men, this is due to gender inequality and discrimination against women. It has scientifically shown that women are earning what men were paid in 2006 and will take another 118 years for women to be equally paid the same as men. Another inequality for women in Kenya is that they are less educated than men, this is evident as they have less access to education, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Techniques Used For Air Navigation Essay The techniques used for air navigation will depend on whether the aircraft is in flight under Visual Flight Rules (VFR) or Instrument Flight Rules (IFR). In the latter case, the pilot will navigate exclusively using radio navigation instruments and aids such as beacons, or as directed under radar control by air traffic control. In the case of VFR, a pilot navigates heavily using dead calculations combined with visual (pilot) observations, referring to appropriate maps. This can be supplemented using radio navigation aids. Given the flight plan and the position of the aircraft, the flight management system calculates the route to be taken. The driver can take this course manually, or the autopilot can be configured to take the course. The flight management system mode is normally called LNAV or lateral navigation for the lateral flight plan and VNAV or vertical navigation for the vertical flight plan. VNAV provides targets and speeds of height and altitude, and LNAV provides a balanced control of automatic piloting. If you are hungry you no longer need to go shopping or visit a restaurant. If you are lonely you don t need to attend a party or visit family. If you need a new pair of shoes or a book for college, you don t need to visit the mall or local bookstore. All of these things are sitting in your little electronic device. The sustenance, social interaction or bauble you desire is just on the other side. There is no need to point fingers or assign blame, it is just our evolving culture and it has some growing pains. The Controversy Of Stem Cell Research The Controversy of Stem Cell Research The ethics of research involving fetuses or material derived from fetuses have been widely debated for over three decades, portrayed by its proponents as holding the key to scientific and medical breakthrough and by its opponents as devaluing the most basic form of human life. The latest chapter in this long saga involves the use of embryonic stem cells. Research in this field took a great leap forward in 1998, when the first successes in growing human stem cells in culture were reported independently by Drs. James Thomson and John Gearhart. According to the National Institutes of Health, embryonic stem cellresearch promises...possible cures for many debilitating diseases and injuries, including Parkinson s disease, diabetes, heart disease, multiple sclerosis, burns, and spinal cord injuries. The NIH believes the potential medical benefits of human pluripotent stem cell technology are compelling and worthy of pursuit in accordance with appropriate ethical standards (National Institutes of Health 2000). Research in this new and developing field has sparked controversy centered on the moral implications of destroying human embryos and poses several compelling ethical questions. Militia groups in Virginia, West Virginia, Georgia, Washington, Arizona, Nevada, Colorado, California, and a number of other states have seen members arrested for possession of illegal weapons and explosives. People in the movement tend to give inflated numbers, in order to make their movement seem larger, and at the same time, because they are so paranoid, will refuse to allow people to actually count their numbers. In addition, groups go in and out of existence all the time, and there are many people who are part of the movement, without being card carrying members of any one particular group. There are some groups few people know about because they are underground. All these factors together make it impossible to say with any certainty how many militia groups there are. The number of groups is certainly in the hundreds. The militia movement has many people who could be called law abiding citizens. However, many members conduct criminal activity (Dees, 1996). A lot of books have explicit language, violence, and sexual content. Most kids know about all of those things, even though they shouldn t know about those things. Banning them from reading a bookthat includes those explicit things, at school, doesn t mean they won t go and read it at home, or at a friends house. Schools, and public libraries, have been trying to ban certain books with, what they see as, inappropriate content for many years now. Everyone has a different opinion on what is appropriate and what is not. Kids going to public schools are going to hear, and learn, explicit language, see violence, and probably even see people doing sexual things, or at least hear about it. Authors are going to write about whatever they want, it is their right to express how they are feeling, or what they are thinking. The Biblewas also on the banned book list, and most people would argue that anyone who is reading The Bible is a Christian. It shouldn t matter what content is in The Bible, if that s not your religion you have no sense reading that book. The Argument Against Gay Marriges Arguments against gay marriges Though there are differences in the views of different faiths, conservative Protestants, the Catholic Church, Mormons, traditional Jews, and Muslims share two fundamental antigay arguments. The first is that homosexuality is wrong because it involves sex that doesn t create life. In the case of Judaism, a key Bible passage is the story of Onan (Links to an external site.), who sleeps with his dead brother s wife but, to avoid giving his brother offspring, doesn t ejaculate inside her. Instead, he spilt the seed on the ground. God slew him, which some might view as a sign of disapproval (Links to an external site.).The Catholic catechism decries (Links to an external site.) homosexual acts because they close the sexual act to the gift of life. Early American antisodomy laws discouraged all forms of non procreative sex (including, incidentally, heterosexual oral and anal sex). Islam shares a similar view. One Islamic hadith explains that Allah will not look at the man who commits sodomy with a man or a woman. But if non procreative sex is the issue, society started down the slippery slope not with the recent Supreme Court ruling but with production of the pill or, really, even earlier, when birth control became common.
