Power- During the process my
cameras battery may run out of
charge, to avoid this happening I
will make sure the battery is fully
charged and also bring a spare
battery out with me just in case
the one I have does in fact die. I
feel it is better to be over
prepared just incase your
does die meaning you can not
carry on filming therefore
stopping the progression of your
product.
Storage- The SD card used in
the camera could be faulty
and not be working. This
could be due to it being
snapped or in fact just broke
from its over use. To fix this, I
would make sure to check
that it is working before I go
out and stat filming. This is
important to do as if I am
filming and then realize the
SD card isn't working, what
what I have filmed will be lost
and corrupted meaning my
Techniques- a problem
which could occur is
when I am filming
using steady cam, I
could make the
camera shake. This is a
problem as it makes
the product not seem
very professional and
gives it a very amateur
look.
Equipment- The microphone I decide to use
could be faulty and not work. To stop this from
happening, before I leave to film, I should do a
few tests with the microphone connected to the
camera to check its quality is the standard I need
for my product. As well as that, the equipment I
want to use may not be available meaning that I
will have to try compromise which may lead to
my product being rushed. To avoid this, I should
book my equipment way in advance to secure
that I can have it for my needed date.
ability- A big issue I could
have with my ability is if I
don’t plan effectively and
get my script exactly right.
This can lead to me
creating a product which is
not as good as I am
capable of. To prevent this,
I feel as if I should almost
over-plan to secure a solid
working plan.
Software- In a certain situation,
the software I'm using could
freeze and stop responding. If
this does occur, I will try to
reload the software I am using, if
this does not work then I will try
to load the software on a
different computer.
Backing up- During production I use a
number of different software's and
documents. In a wore case scenario
any of the software's or documents
could crash and my work could be
lost. To avoid this problem happening,
I will make sure to regularly save my
work and to also back it up just so I
have another secure version of it.

3. Backing up
Backing up my work is seriously important
especially in this project. I use an array of
different software's when completing different
tasks for this project meaning that there is a
high risk of a software failing and corrupting
my work. This could be a huge issue as the
depth and detail of my work for my final
project is very high meaning if my file does
corrupt, all my hard work will have been
wasted. This will cause a huge stint in my
progress through the project leaving me far
behind. Overall, this could significantly effect
the rest of the project as always being behind
would mean that I have less time to complete
the other tasks meaning I could not complete
them to my best standard which would have a
heavy impact on my final grade. This has
happened to me in the past and it is a real pain
to sort out. From this, I have learnt from my
experiences and will make sure that this does
not happen again. To do this, I will make sure
to save a second backup copy of my work to
make sure I don’t lose my work.
Storage
The SD card is one of the key elements when in
production. This is because this is where all the
shots you have filmed are saved meaning if this is
broke or faulty, everything you have filmed will not
be saved anywhere. This makes the SD card
incredibly important when filming meaning we need
to take precautions when using it. I have not yet
experienced a faulty or broken SD card. This is
because I always make sure to check before I go out
and start filming whether it is working properly. It is
always important to do this to make sure that the
footage you collect is not lost and that you have not
just wasted your time. If I did make the mistake of
not checking if the SD was working, I would have
not only wasted the time of myself the crew and the
cast, but also will have messed up my plan. This
would then cause a huge disruption in my planning
forcing me to go off track. This could lead to a
downfall in my work therefore not creating the best
product I can make.

4. ability
A problem which I need to try overcome is
planning my products well every time. In the
past I have had some issues whilst planning,
this has been due to under planning when
creating mood boards and scripts etc. This is
evidenced in my FMP from last year as
although the ideas of the product were good,
the trailer ended up being too short for what I
wanted and also some of the sots were not as
interesting and authentic as I would have
wanted. This was because I didn't’t plan my
mood board to be as long as it should have
been. Because of this, I have learnt from my
mistakes, this is evidenced in my last project
where I struggled to fit the product into the
target time duration because of how long my
product was. From my past experiences, I have
learnt to avoid this issue by over planning. This
is good as when recording I will have enough
footage to use and then I can just cut the
shots which I don’t need. This allows me to
create a much better product as I have more
to work with meaning I can use the best of the
Equipment
Equipment can cause a lot of problems throughout
the filming process. Firstly, if you book any equipment
from college, there is a slight possibility it could be
faulty. This could be a big issue as when you get out
to film if you haven't checked that it works properly
you have just wasted your time going to film for no
reason. This may effect your production timetable and
therefore overall ruin your plan. This could include a
microphone which is not working well and not picking
up sound as clearly as you would like it to. Another
problem which could occur with equipment is when I
book it out I my be too late and not be able to collect
equipment when I need it. This can lead to some
serious problems as it will cause your plan to be
heavily disrupted, this may lead to the cast and crew
being messed about leaving them unhappy. Because
of the equipment not working, my filming would be
delayed meaning that the progress of the product
would be affected leaving me less times to complete
other tasks. This would stop me from creating the
best possible film that I could make and perhaps
effecting my final grade.

5. THEORETICAL
PROBLEMS
Working outside- The
weather outside could
seriously effect filming. This
could be due to the sun
being to bright, it being too
dark or the rain making it
impossible to film without
the lens getting wet. . To try
to avoid this issue I will film
at sensible and relatable
times to avoid specific times
in the day. As well as that, I
will check the weather in
advance as this will give me
more clearer idea of what
weather will be on the day I
want to film.
Unwanted noise- When
filming, sometimes there
is unwanted noise all
around you. This can be
caused by the wind,
people around you or
even traffic. To try to
avoid this issue I will
make sure to check the
weather for strong winds
and also cleverly choose
locations which wont be
too busy.
Actors/extras- A problem with
actors is sometimes they can be
unreliable. This means that they
sometimes won’t turn up or be late
to shooting. To avoid this issue
make sure to plan and let them
know what is happening well in
advance, this is so that they can
clear their schedule. Adding to this,
I need to make sure to have back
up actors just in case my first
choice cant make my shooting
Crew dynamics- a
problem can be if the
crew don’t get and aren't
working effectively. If I do
end up using a crew in my
final product, I will make
sure to choose people
who I can trust to do a
good job and make sure
they all get on well as a
team. This is so my
production works
efficiently throughout.
Transport-If I don’t arrange
good transport tis could be a
big problem, this is because I
might or my cast might not be
able to get to the desired
location therefore having to
change my plan. To provoke this
from happening, I will make sure
everyone needed for
production has a definite way of
transport to the location, this is
so everything follows me plan
so I don’t lose track of what I am
doing.
Locations- In a worse case
scenario the location you
planned to film in could be
obstructed in some way. This
could include it has been
closed off, construction could
be working there etc. If this
happened I would try to find
a similar location near it or I
would forward plan and have
a back up location where I
could film.
Refreshments- A problem which could occur whilst
filming is that the cast and crew may need
refreshments. This may be because they are
dehydrated or hungry. This can become a problem
as the actors may not perform as well as they could
on a full stomach. As well as that, people get
moody when try are hungry, this may cause
arguments between the cast or crew. To avoid this
issue, I would make sure everyone is well fed before
we go and make sure to bring water with me so

6. Actors/extras
One of the key aspects of a film is the actors.
However, many problems can tail because of actors.
Firstly, they can sometimes be very unreliable which
causes disruption to production. This can be caused
by them being busy or changing their plans last
minute. To prevent this problem, I need to make
sure that I have backup options for each role and to
make sure I choose the back up options as carefully
as my first choice. This is because if my first choice
does pull out, I need someone just as good to fill in
for them. In the past, I have had bad experience
with my actors pulling out on me last minute
therefore because of this, I have learned from my
experiences and now know to have reserve actors
are just as talented. Another problem that could
occur is the personality of some actors, some view
themselves higher than other people. I feel this
could be a problem as there ego could try to start
bossing people around creating a negative energy
on set. This could not only affect the morale of
everyone, but also the performance of the cast and
crew.
Refreshments
Whilst filming my product, refreshments could be a a
big problem. This is because in some of the locations I
have decided to film, they may not have refreshments
close by meaning I will have to bring my own, this can
include snacks and water for the cast and crew. This is
to make sure that they are always energized and in
good condition to act and film effectively. Without
refreshments, the cast may start to get tired, hungry
and dehydrated, this can then affect everyone
performances on set. As well as that, if the cast or crew
are especially hungry, this can then lower the morale
of everyone as arguments and conflict may start to
arise. This will cause the progression of the project to
slow down therefore taking longer to complete the
product.

7. Working outside
The concept of working outside can definitely cause
significant problems. The weather is a huge factor
in this. Firstly, the weather might not fit the colour
tone you want to be included in your product.
Although, this can be altered in post production, I
fee the product will look more effective if the
original shot is already similar to the tone you want
to portray in the product. For example, if I want to
make a shot dark and depressing in post
production, but film the shot in really bright vibrant
sunlight it wont work as effectively as if I shoot the
shot in cloudy and dark conditions. To make sure I
get this right, I just have to be sensible at when I
film the different shots which I want, I can also
check the weather to get a rough idea of what is
going to be like at certain times. Another problem
which I could experience when filming is it it starts
to rain. This can damage the camera and the lens
therefore meaning I have to buy a new one for the
college. To avoid this issue, I can look at the
weather to get an idea of when it could rain and
also just be sensible at when I am filming to try to
avoid this issue as much as possible.
Locations
Whilst filming, I have planned to film in numerous different
locations. Because of this, this can cause different problems like
for example, certain locations could be closed off or restricted
when I go on the day of filming. This is a problem as I may have
to change my plan to match the new restrictions of the locations
or in fact change location all together. This is a negative as it
forces me to change my plans therefore complicating the project.
This may affect the final product negatively as the 2nd choice of
location may not have worked as effectively as the first choice
meaning the product will not come out as authentic and visually
appealing as I would have wanted. To avoid this issue, I go view
my planned location before filming to check that I is all available
and accessible in the way that I want. If a worst case scenario
occurred and the location was not as would have I wanted, I then
have time to plan a new one. This a better option as I then have
time to plan a new effective location instead of having to think of
one on the spot. Another location factor which can be a problem
is the business of a location, if there are loads of people in a
location that I need to be quiet, this can cause problems.
Although, I can remove and alter different sounds in the shot
whilst using premier, the idea od people in the background of
shots when they are not needed or people being distractions for
the cast and crew I a bug problem. This may cause me to have to
do more takes than is needed therefore wasting time. To avoid
this, I can try to plan to shoot in locations which I know not to be

8. EXPERIMENTS

9. EXPERIMENT 1
For my first experiment I wanted to test out different colour
correction in premier pro. I felt like this would be useful as
firstly I want to see how I can portray the dark tone of my
product through the change of colour correction. After
testing different techniques, I finally came to a colour tone
which was dark and gritty however wasn’t too dark that it
looked fake and unprofessional. I feel this colour tone will
work very effectively to portray the negative themes
included in my product. Adding to this, I wanted to also test
out a slighter warmer tone as I want to include this when
the films positivity peaks. This will occur when I include a
montage of the two boys hanging out and having a good
time. I want to colour tone of he product to change at this
point to try and convey a much more positive and vibrant
tone. I felt it was important to test this out to not only
figure out how to achieve such a look but to also see how
well it will contrast with the rest of the films dark theme.
Because of this, I had to test out different techniques to try
find a colour tone which not only symbolized happiness but
also didn't contrast too heavily with the darker colour tone
used in the rest of the film. After testing different
combination of effects, I ended up with the image
displayed on the middle left. I felt this aesthetic still
includes the darker features that the rest of the product
does however, it increase in temperature creates a slighter
warmer feel creating a warmer feel for the audience. The
way this aesthetic still includes the darker features is very
effective as it conveys that even though the boys

10. EXPERIMENT 2
For my second experiment, I wanted to see how the music chosen can
effect a certain shot. To test this theory out I decided I would film a
random shot which didn't’t really link to anything or convey any sort of
theme and then in premier pro add different music to the shot. I
decided to download two different copyright free music pieces, one
which was a very happy and positive tone the other, was very
depressing and negative. I wanted to complete this test as my film
overall is going to be quite dark therefore I wanted to see how much
the music really effects the feel of the product. This is because if my
film is dark, I still want a slight theme of happiness to be conveyed.
After completing the experiment, I have realized that the music has a
huge impact. In the fist video where the music is very negative, the
video appears incredibly sad in fact it feels almost like a tribute to
someone after they have died. Whereas, on the contrast the second
video, the video appears much more lighthearted. This is a positive for
product specifically as this means that although the colour scheme of
each shot may not change significantly, the music will really help me
change the feel of the product.
