A Strategic Approach: GenAI in Education
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

This can change if you think of something better later Product’s Purpose: To entertain and be relative to people and their personal situations. I will achieve this by having a nice amount of humour within my product, but also try and show that it is about heartbreak and that that subject matter doesn’t alwayshave to be so serious. Genre: Music, I’m creating products such as album cover, merchandise, promo designs, etc So I would call the product overall “an unpopular artist/bands starter pack” something they can start establishing themselves with/on What sort of product is it Content: My product is about the corelations of what you can imagine space being like and heartbreak (and what you can imagine that being like, if you haven’t been through it already) Space is beautiful, but dangerous and often it seems quite dehumanising and lonely, same as pain/heartbreak, it can almost feel like you’ll never be “home” again referencing your old self. But in space you could never be “home” again referencing our home, the earth. What is your product about? Discuss what you would put in it (be specific). Does it have a story? If so, discuss it here Audience: From my survey results my audience is 15-18 male, but I suspect that if my product was going out into the world it would more likely 15-18 females, middle class, belongers, people who can relate to the content. Who is your audience? Be very detailed; age, gender, social status, psychographic etc Why would your project appeal to this person? Legal & Ethical Considerations: Think about any offensive material you will include? I can’t think of anything specifically offensive that I have or am planning to put in my products, but I will keep my eyes out for all the details and how they will be received. Will you restrict younger people using/accessing it? No, there’s no reason why people of any age couldn’t enjoy my products, and if there ends up being one, I will make it obvious that it’s not for everyone. Will it offend any social groups/religions/ethnicities? No, and I will check thoroughly for offensive language and symbols within my project through my processes. How will you ensure you do not offend anyone? You can’t make anything worthwhile without offending or annoying at least one person in the world but you can try your best to make sure the people and minorities that matter don’t find your product harmful by doing research on what is offensive and no using words/symbols/pictures that you haven’t investigated.
