The document proposes a horror/thriller product called "Best friends forever" about a girl named Cassie who befriends her computer that has taken a human form. The computer knows everything about Cassie and tries to isolate her by killing anyone else who tries to be her friend. The purpose is to subvert expectations with something sinister rather than cute. The target audience is 16-24 year olds of any gender. Legal considerations include implied murder and blood but avoiding gore. Younger viewers will be restricted and care will be taken to not offend any groups through imagery or themes. Original characters and designs are used to avoid copyright issues.

Best Friends Forever
1. Proposal
1
Working Title:
Best friends forever. It sounds innocent but the title can also be taken creepily if you put emphasis on forever. Example:
Best friends FOREVER
What is it called? This can change if you think of something better later
Product’s Purpose:
The purpose is to defy people’s expectations. They expect something sweet and cute, so I want to deliver something
sinister in order to shock the audience.
What is the product’s purpose (entertain/educate etc.) and how will you achieve this?
Genre:
It can fall into two categories. Horror and Thriller. There’s nothing explicitly awful, but the distorted look to some things can
be tense. There is occasional murder, although it’s never shown, just implied. Also, knowing that Cassie is in constant
danger of being hurt creates suspense.
What sort of product is it
Content
A girl called Cassie lives alone, and wants to make friends. Her computer comes alive and takes the shape of her, but with
small differences (hair colour, outfit style) It knows everything about Cassie and tries to befriend her by becoming the
perfect friend. However, it becomes angry whenever anybody else tries to be Cassie’s friend and kills them. Cassie has
no idea that her new friend is a murderer, and the computer grows more corrupted the more it kills and starts glitching out
and acting less human.
What is your product about? Discuss what you would put in it (be specific). Does it have a story? If so, discuss it here
Research & Planning
My audience said that they would like a lot of bright colours, which I intent to do, both from the pastel art style and the
glitch art styles I will be using throughout the product. I quite like the magazine experiment I did and will probably do
something similar to it. My audience also wanted a lot of tension, and I will attempt to create as much tension as possible.
Where will you use elements of your research and planning to influence and inform your final idea (be specific to certain
parts)
Audience:
My product will be targeted to 16-24 year olds of no specific gender. Mainly because although more men gave input on my
survey, the art style is quite feminine, so keeping it neutral is the easiest way to affect the most people. They will be needs
driven, as they’re more likely to buy things from impulse and I am targeting to a D2 social status, as that is what most of
my audience will be a part of, or are most familiar with.
Who is your audience? Be very detailed; age, gender, social status, psychographic etc
Why would your project appeal to this person? I will be appealing to my target audience mostly through the magazine and
trailer.
Legal & Ethical Considerations:
Think about any offensive material you will include?
There will be blood, along with implied murder
Will you restrict younger people using/accessing it?
Yes, since there is blood, children under 13 will not be permitted to access it.
Will it offend any social groups/religions/ethnicities?
It may offend groups who do not condone murder, but I will try my best to keep it PG, and there will be no religious
imagery used in my products, and in alliance with ASA code 4,it is not set to offend a particular person or social group
How will you ensure you do not offend anyone?
There will not be anything specifically gory, as I will be relying on the more unsettling feel.
Are you using characters/names/logos of existing products/IPs?
No, everything is either free to use or has been made by me. And I’ll stick to ASA code 2- I’ll make sure it looks like an
advert and have a unique logo.
Will your product be sufficiently different from existing products to not get sued for copyright infringement?
Yes. Everything from the title to the character design was all created by me, and I have tried not to lean too heavily on
other products with similar styles. I would follow ASA code 3, which is to not mislead anybody about my product.
