Thomas Moore is creating a magazine about old Japanese cars and street racing culture in Japan during the 1980s-early 2000s. The magazine will feature articles and double page spreads discussing street racing gangs and car culture. Moore chose this topic because he has had a passion for 1980s-90s car culture since childhood. The target audience is males ages 15 and older, as that is when many get interested in cars. Moore plans to sell the magazine in bookstores to prove he can complete a magazine and showcase his typography skills.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
Synthetic Fiber Construction in lab .pptxPavel ( NSTU)
Synthetic fiber production is a fascinating and complex field that blends chemistry, engineering, and environmental science. By understanding these aspects, students can gain a comprehensive view of synthetic fiber production, its impact on society and the environment, and the potential for future innovations. Synthetic fibers play a crucial role in modern society, impacting various aspects of daily life, industry, and the environment. ynthetic fibers are integral to modern life, offering a range of benefits from cost-effectiveness and versatility to innovative applications and performance characteristics. While they pose environmental challenges, ongoing research and development aim to create more sustainable and eco-friendly alternatives. Understanding the importance of synthetic fibers helps in appreciating their role in the economy, industry, and daily life, while also emphasizing the need for sustainable practices and innovation.
This is a presentation by Dada Robert in a Your Skill Boost masterclass organised by the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan (EFSS) on Saturday, the 25th and Sunday, the 26th of May 2024.
He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.

2. Pre-
production
• What are you making? (explain what you have been asked to do)
• -in my final project I am creating a magazine that is based around old fashioned Japanese cars
and it has articles and double page spreads about the culture of the car scene in the 80s and
90s to early 2000s in my articles I will talk about the street racing gangs that ruled the streets of
japan and how they hid their identity to the rest of the world. And on my other double page
spreads I will have a photo gallery with mostly pictures and little words since the articles will be
very word heavy.
• Why? (What is the purpose of making your Film)
• -the reason for me making this as my final piece is because ever since I have been a kid, I have
had a massive passion for the car culture of the 80s and 90s and with doing a magazine I
haven't gone a magazine yet and I would like to do one so that I can prove to myself that I can
do a magazine. Another reason why I wanted to do a magazine is because in my past projects I
have done more visual products and I want to do a product that includes heavy typography so
that going into my second year I have covered most areas and won't be in the dark by anything.
• Who is it for? (Audience)
• -my audience that I am aiming for with this project is more of a younger audience but over the
age of 15 the magazine and the type of genre will appear more towards men, but my magazine
is not fully focused on a male audience. The reason I have chosen this age range as my target is
because in the car community this age of 15 and above is when you are looking at first car
options and you are really getting into the world of cars.
• Where will it appear/on what? (How will audience see it)
• - my magazine will appear in bookstores and be sold anywhere that it can be sold I will make
my magazine
• stand out from the average magazine and that’s how I will target my audience for the
magazine.
Reflection:
3. Pre-production:— things I need to complete my
production.
Equipment
1.adobe photoshop
2.car
3.camera
Reasons for the equipment
1.i need this so that I can edit my
pictures and also create my magazine
front and back cover.
2. I need the car or multiple cars to take
pictures of so that I have pictures to put
in my magazine.
3. I need this piece of equipment
because I need it to take the pictures of
the cars and then so I can use them for
my front cover and my articles
1.
2.
3.
4. Pre-production:— image style sheet
On this slide I have a style sheet for my images and
the type of images that I am going to use for my
magazine all the images here I have got off pintrest
and the reason I have for getting these type of
images is because these images are old and form the
80s and 90s japan car scene and they are very raw
photos with no or very little editing. It makes the
photo look very vintage and that is very much the
look that want to do for when doing my front cover
and my double page spread.
5. Pre-production:—font style sheet
On this slide I have my font style sheet these are images of
the type of style I want the font to be for my front cover
and some of the titles inside the maagzine. The reason I
like these fonts is because there are very stand out but not
too much in your face, they also help with the 80s vintage
feel that I want for my magazine and I think that having
fontslike this will help me target the audience that I want
for my magazine.
6. Pre-production:— colour style sheet
On this slide I have my colour tyle sheet for my
magazine on this slide I have a wide range of colour
swatches and the reason for this is so that I can
group up colours that work well with each other and
have a knowledge of colours that contrast. I will use
these to help me complete my magazine and I think
the most important part of a magazine Is the colour
and how it looks and by knowing what colours work
well with each other I can create magazine that
looks good and smooth and doesn’t just have
colours that don’t go with each other plastered over
the page.
8. Contingency Planning
Potential Issue Solution
Backache while editing Make sure to take breaks in between editing
Bad weather for taking the right pictures Have an open schedule so that youre not hopping
on one day
Cant get the car that I need for the photos Have a backup plan in case the main one falls
through
Software shuts down while editing Make sure to save the work regularly to avoid
losing it
9. Health and Safety
Potential Issue How will the issue be
avoided?
Getting hit by a car while taking pictures don't stand in the middle of a road without
making sure that the road is clear
The car crashing while taking shots Make sure to have full attention on the road
even when taking pictures
Being in the classroom and getting a electric
shock
Make sure there are no loose wires that can give
a shock and don’t have and liquids near the
computers
Getting eye strain from looking at the screens for
too long
Take regular breaks from the computers
10. Production Schedule
Day/Lesson Tasks
WEEK ONE Create two articles for the middle of my
magazine
WEEK TWO Create two double page spreads for the middle
of my magazine
WEEK THREE Start and complete my magazine front cover
WEEK FOUR Start and complete the back cover of the
magazine
