Existing Product
This is a existing product of a japanese drift car magazine it
is a fairly old magazine and is very full on and there is a lot
going on for the front cover it is very busy to the point
where it almost looks like a comic book. On this front cover
they have used a wide range of colours which makes the
image which has a car that has a lot of bright stickers on it
almost blend in so that the text is just as striking as the
image. The whole front cover is very busy and loud with its
colours and fonts but it does fit the theme and the genre
very well. This example will help with my final piece
because it shows that when adding alot of colour.
Existing Product
On this existing product I have decided to get a stance car
magazine instead of a race car magazine this magazine is
newer than the first magazine cover that I looked at but
the design of this front cover is very simple but works very
well and I think that the simple title and the japanese
writing down the middle makes for a very clean front
cover or maybe a back cover. This is the only example
product that has a person in it modelling for the magazine
and once again the colours that are used are very much
matching into the picture but also stands out and doesn’t
get lost in the background. The background of the front
cover is not been photoshopped in it is the actual
background of the picture and I think that gives a good
sense of depth for the image and almost makes its look 3D
which adds to the appeal of the magazine. I think that a
design like this would be good as my back cover for my
final piece.
Existing Product
This existing product is a Japanese performance magazine
but this is a newer magazine to some of the other
products that I have looked at. The type of magazine that I
want to go for is a old 90s looking magazine but I am
looking at the new style of magazine to see how far they
have come over the years. In this magazine they have
made sure that all the colours fit with the text but also
makes the cover images stand out for example the
background of the magazine is grey to black but the car
that is the main images is bright red so it makes the car
the main focus of the magazine and with the bright yellow
bold text at the top is clearly stating the name of the
magazine. At the bottom of the front cover is a small
insight to what is in the magazine which will encourage
people to open the magazine and read on. This magazine
will influence my final production because they do a really
good job of making the main image stand out and one my
front cover I want my main image to pop and be the main
focus.
Existing Product
This existing product is a magazine that is by the same
people as the product on the last slide but this magazine is
from the late 90s early 2000s. This magazine is very loud
with its colours and almost looks like a comic book with the
type of text they use and the style that they have done. Once
again they have used a very block colour as the background
and the car that is the main focus image is very bright and
stands out and these types of magazines are very bright and
it fits its era very well. This magazine will definitely help me
when it comes to doing my own magazine as my final piece
because with the theme of the magazine and the time period
that it was in is very much like the theme and look that I
want to go for.
Existing Product
On this slide I have another existing product that is a old car
magazine but one of the biggest differences with this
magazine is that its in Japanese and this is a true Japanese
car magazine from the 90s/2000s also unlike the other
products I have shown this magazine is moire subtle with its
colours with them choosing a background colour that
blends and fits well with the colour of the car and text. All
the text in this is very bold and with the main title having a
black outline makes the top half of the magazine look like
its popping out in-front of the image and text as-well. This
magazine will help with my final piece because on my final
piece I want to have my text pop and make it seem like the
text (the title) is the main view of the magazine.
Research Analysis
• What common features do the researched
products have?
• — some of the most common features is that the whole magazine is very
out there and loud and the text and titles are very bold and have very stand
out fonts.
• What aspects of the research will you include
within your on work?
• — one of the main things that I will have on my final piece that is on the
existing products is that the title of the magazine has to stand out to fit the
theme of the magazine.

  • 2. Existing Product This is a existing product of a japanese drift car magazine it is a fairly old magazine and is very full on and there is a lot going on for the front cover it is very busy to the point where it almost looks like a comic book. On this front cover they have used a wide range of colours which makes the image which has a car that has a lot of bright stickers on it almost blend in so that the text is just as striking as the image. The whole front cover is very busy and loud with its colours and fonts but it does fit the theme and the genre very well. This example will help with my final piece because it shows that when adding alot of colour.
  • 3. Existing Product On this existing product I have decided to get a stance car magazine instead of a race car magazine this magazine is newer than the first magazine cover that I looked at but the design of this front cover is very simple but works very well and I think that the simple title and the japanese writing down the middle makes for a very clean front cover or maybe a back cover. This is the only example product that has a person in it modelling for the magazine and once again the colours that are used are very much matching into the picture but also stands out and doesn’t get lost in the background. The background of the front cover is not been photoshopped in it is the actual background of the picture and I think that gives a good sense of depth for the image and almost makes its look 3D which adds to the appeal of the magazine. I think that a design like this would be good as my back cover for my final piece.
  • 4. Existing Product This existing product is a Japanese performance magazine but this is a newer magazine to some of the other products that I have looked at. The type of magazine that I want to go for is a old 90s looking magazine but I am looking at the new style of magazine to see how far they have come over the years. In this magazine they have made sure that all the colours fit with the text but also makes the cover images stand out for example the background of the magazine is grey to black but the car that is the main images is bright red so it makes the car the main focus of the magazine and with the bright yellow bold text at the top is clearly stating the name of the magazine. At the bottom of the front cover is a small insight to what is in the magazine which will encourage people to open the magazine and read on. This magazine will influence my final production because they do a really good job of making the main image stand out and one my front cover I want my main image to pop and be the main focus.
  • 5. Existing Product This existing product is a magazine that is by the same people as the product on the last slide but this magazine is from the late 90s early 2000s. This magazine is very loud with its colours and almost looks like a comic book with the type of text they use and the style that they have done. Once again they have used a very block colour as the background and the car that is the main focus image is very bright and stands out and these types of magazines are very bright and it fits its era very well. This magazine will definitely help me when it comes to doing my own magazine as my final piece because with the theme of the magazine and the time period that it was in is very much like the theme and look that I want to go for.
  • 6. Existing Product On this slide I have another existing product that is a old car magazine but one of the biggest differences with this magazine is that its in Japanese and this is a true Japanese car magazine from the 90s/2000s also unlike the other products I have shown this magazine is moire subtle with its colours with them choosing a background colour that blends and fits well with the colour of the car and text. All the text in this is very bold and with the main title having a black outline makes the top half of the magazine look like its popping out in-front of the image and text as-well. This magazine will help with my final piece because on my final piece I want to have my text pop and make it seem like the text (the title) is the main view of the magazine.
