Similarities Between Islam And Mormonism
Islam and Mormonism
Islam and Mormonism are two monotheistic religions whose origins go back to Abraham, but were
founded within the last 1500 years. There are many similarities between the religions, and of course,
many differences.
The Qur an is the sacred text of Islam. Muslims believe that Muhammad, at twenty three years of age,
received revelation from God over the next twenty three years through the angel Gabriel. Muslims
view the Qur an as God s final revelation and would not accept any other revelations. They believe
that Muhammad was the final prophet. For most Muslims, the Qur an is only really the sacred word of
God if it is in Arabic. Muslims believe that the current Qur an is exactly the same as what was
revealed to Muhammad ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Mormonism, there is something similar to the Five Pillars of Islam in that they have a list of beliefs
that they see as their main or most important beliefs which are listed in the Thirteen Articles of Faith.
The most important of those articles of faith would be Mormonism s version of the Five Pillars of
Islam. The first article of faith is probably the most important one: that we believe in God, the Eternal
Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost. The next Pillar of Mormonism would be
the second article of faith in my opinion: that we believe that men will be punished for their own sins,
and not for Adam s transgression. The next Pillar of Mormonism would be the third article of
faith:that we believe that through the Atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved, by obedience to
the laws and ordinances of the Gospel. The next and in my opinion, the most important of all our
articles of faith is the fourth one: that we believe that the first principles and ordinances of the Gospel
are: first, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; second, Repentance; third, Baptism by immersion for the
remission of sins; fourth, Laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost. You could also break that
article of faith up and say that the four ordinances and principles listed in the fourth article of faith are
four of the Pillars of Mormonism . The last Pillar of Mormonism would be that we believe the Bible to
be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly; we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the
word of God. This is important because it sets us apart from other religions, especially other Christian
religions. There are many beliefs in Mormonism and many beliefs in Islam, and just as the Five Pillars
of Islam outline the most important beliefs of Islamic belief, the Thirteen Articles of Faith outline the
most important and basic beliefs of Mormonism. The Five Pillars of

John (44) and Mary (43) Winchester were high school sweethearts and have been married for 18
years. They have two teenage boys; Dean (17) and Sam (15). The Winchester family has come to

He has is verbally abusive toward Mary and the boys and has developed a drinking problem. His
behavior has started to have a serious impact on his relationship with Dean, Sam, and Mary. They

Atmospheric Temperature Causes Higher Saturation Vapor...
In Figure 4, Mr. Yi explained that the increases in atmospheric temperature causes higher saturation
vapor pressure, the greater the capacity for water to evaporate from soils and water bodies and
transpire from plants. With the increase of saturation vapor pressure atmospheric warming directly
increases plants evapotranspiration demands, which would to more water emitted by vegetated
surfaces to the atmosphere unless soil moisture gets too depleted. Weather systems accompanied with
extreme precipitation events can become more violent as more latent heat is released. These events
would tax the system making it longer between the recharging of the atmosphere with moisture as its
holding capacity for water increases. The results are longer duration between precipitation and
extended drought (Yi, Pendall, Ciais, Focus on extreme events and the carbon cycle, 2015).
Figure # 5. A conceptual diagram (modified from Allen et al. [2010]) showing the range of variability
of Current Climate parameters for temperature and precipitation or drought, with only a small portion
of the current climate envelope currently exceeding a species specific tree mortality threshold (the red
line). The two future climate envelopes show shifts to more extreme temperature and drought
conditions associated with projected climate changes, indicating greater risks of drought induced die
off for current tree populations. Note that warming alone, without declines in precipitation, can drive

Client Project: Clemson University Staff Development Program (SDP) Administrators Video
Overview
This client project was established by several members of Clemson University s Staff Development
Program Steering Committee, and organized by Professor, Dr. Tharon Howard, as an assignment for
the course English 8570: Digital Rhetorics Across Media. Along with several of my peers, we utilized
Adobe Premiere Pro CC to create a video that encourages influential administrators of the university

Additionally, in his novel Squirrel INC., Stephen Denning states that a story can communicate a
company s brand (56). Also, a personal story can communicate who you are as an entity (54). We
decided that a compilation of personal stories would be the best method to communicate the values
and outcomes of the SDP, and therefore, show administrators how valuable the program is to people.
Denning further supports this idea when he states that effective companies spark change when Groups
possess analogous who we are stories, which are less about the leader s personal experiences and
attitudes and more about the joint experiences and attitudes of the people within the organization and
their shared beliefs (Denning 58). Therefore, the sections of the interviews we chose to include in the
video help paint a picture of the organization as a whole. Also, we added in a few photos of the
participants activities, so as to not only let our viewers hear the benefits of the program, but also see
visual proof of how the program is a beneficial entity. Denning states that In performing the story, the
storyteller relives the story and makes it fresh as if the viewers were there at those particular, specified
moments (Denning 26). Our goal was to have our audience feel as though they were apart of each
participants activities through the various photos. Furthermore, we decided to begin our video with a
brief introduction into the program by one of the former chairs of the SDP, and what it essentially
accomplishes because a traditional narrative has a beginning, a middle, and an ending. The beginning
of the story sets the context of the narratives that follow it (50). We wanted to prepare our

The Realities Of Puritan Life With M. Night Shyamalan s...
In order to compare the realities of Puritan life with M. Night Shyamalan s theatrical interpretation,
The Village, it is important to understand who Puritans were and what kinds of beliefs they had.
Puritans, different from Pilgrims, attempted to purify the Church of England in the seventeenth
century as they felt it had been insufficiently reformed. Their idea of reformation consisted of a
Calvinistic approach to society; believing in the absolute sovereignty of God, absolute dependence on
divine grace for salvation, and the importance of personal religious experience. This meant that not
only did they have to cleanse the church of traditional Roman Catholic practices, but also develop a
new societal structure that reflected their new ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The fictional community portrayed in the film disregards some of the social standards that actual
Puritans had established, circa the 1600s, in regard to societal gender roles, but does a good job in
accurately presenting other social aspects. In The Village, women are portrayed as a more significant
element to the Puritan lifestyle as they assume roles as towns elect. This can be spotted when
Luscious, the protagonist, delivers his proposal to the town hall members when he wishes to venture
out into the forbidden forest. Out of the twelve members at the meeting, five were females; proving to
be completely contrary to real Puritan society. Massachusetts Bay Colony, for example, was a man s
world with extreme patriarchal social structures. It was understood among Puritans that women were
not to assume positions at town meetings and were excluded from any decision making in the church.
Another good example of the prejudice against women was the Salem Witch Trials, in which ¾ of all
convicted heretics were females. It was believed that women were more susceptible to Satan s
influence, and for that reason should stay out of the affairs of men and government as a whole. While
Shyamalan fails to properly represent

Alfred Hitchcock Point Of View
Alfred Hitchcock s cinematic style contains an array of stylistic devices, notably the point of view
shot. Using point of view editing, the audience repeatedly [sees] events through the eyes of an
individual character. (Walker) The audience is privy to only what the character knows and likewise
absorbs the character s emotional journey. As the audience s emotional investment/identification with
the protagonist grows, so does the plot amplifying the audience s empathy for the character s
heartache, longing, and anxiety, creating the perfect recipe for a suspenseful thriller. Hitchcock
employs point of view editing in the films, Rear Window and Vertigo to exemplify the protagonist s
mindset and to control the amount of information the audience made be aware of.
The 1954 film, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The audience is only privy to the information that protagonist has. Therefore, the audience experiences
the same emotions and anxiety as the protagonist. Hitchcock controls how much information the
audience is given by narrowing it a single character s perspective. Like Jeffries, the audience becomes
suspicions as to whether or not his neighbor, Lars has actually murdered his wife. Additionally, the
audience feels the same panic and fear when he witnesses Lisa being trapped in the apartment by Lars.
As Jeffries focuses more on each character, the audience learns more about that character s personality
and life. For instance, Jeffries nicknames a woman in a lower floor, Miss Lonelyhearts. Together the
audience witnesses with Jeffries Miss Lonelyhearts throwing an invisible guest a dinner party before
she breaks down in tears. (Walker) After identifying with her sadness, the audience feels an added
sense of panic and anxiety when Miss Lonelyhearts is seen with a bottle of pills and alcohol,
insinuating suicidal plans at the same time Lisa is being trapped by

The Nature of the Irish Nationalism was Changed by the Act...
The Act of Union in 1800 was a significant factor to the nature of Irish nationalism in 1800. Prior to
the Act, the society of the united Irishmen, a republican society who wanted parliamentary reform and
Catholic Emancipation, fought, under the leadership of Robert Emmet, with physical force for their
complete independence. Because of their military strand they differed from their predecessors the
Protestant Patriots , this is because the society was heavily influenced by revolutionary events in
France and New America in the late 18th century. The rebellion, although unsuccessful, with its leader
imprisoned, had major consequential effects; which was the passing of the Act of Union in 1800. The
Act set the tone for the rest of Irish ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even though this constitutional change was a disappointment to the Irish and not a breakthrough in the
changing nature of the Irish question as the Irish vote was not restored to the 40 shilling freehold, it
saw the emergence of the O Connellites in the 1833 general election with 39 MPs, and thus became
the largest bloc of Irish MPs in the House of Commons. With the informal alliance with the Liberal
government, Ireland was given several significant concessions; a national primary education was set
up which, by 1881, allowed for ¾ of those aged between 6 and 15 the ability to read . The new under
secretary, Thomas Drummond, took an even more dramatic turn in the Irish question. He opened large
areas of official employment for Catholics such as the reorganisation of the police force in 1836 which
enrolled many Catholics; Catholics began to be appointed to high offices in the Irish judiciary and the
powers of the Orange order, an extremist protestant organisation, were curbed . Even though O
Connell failed to repeal the Act of Union as he intended to, the reforms that brought changes to the
Irish question, which were due to O Connell, for demising the Tory party through his emancipation
Act and the Great Reform Act that gave him and the O Connellites more power to concede to Irish
reforms.
The Great Famine of 1845 9 was a great turning point in the changing nature of all aspects of the Irish
question. In terms of land, Ireland s land

Julius Caesar in the Roman Empire
Gaius Cassius Longinus, Marcus Junius Brutus, and Marcus Antonius were three key factors during
the time of Julius Caesar in the Roman Empire. Cassius and Brutus were the two main conspirators
against Caesar, and Brutus was even the one who assassinated him. Unlike the two of them, Marcus
Antonius, Mark Antony, was one of Caesar s right hand men and won many battles for him, including
one against Cassius. While Brutus and Cassius were at the head of the freight train that was headed for
Caesar, Antony stood firm, however helpless it seemed, with Caesar until they failed on March 15, 44
BC when Caesar was killed.
The exact date of the birth of Gaius Cassius Longinus is unknown, but it was before 85 BC, so little is
known of his early life. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since Brutus mother was now Caesar s lover, he was released from captivity and became a member of
the senior priesthood of the pontifices. From 47 to 45, he governed Cisalpine Gaul (now northern
Italy) for Caesar (biographybase.com). Caesar appointed him as praetor of the city along with Gaius
Cassius Longinus and named, in advance, them as consuls of 41. After Cato died in 46, Brutus married
Porcia, Cato s daughter.
For all of Brutus life, he felt optimistic about Caesar s plans but was flabbergasted when Caesar made
himself perpetual dictator and was deified as best stated by britannica.com. Always conscious of his
descent from Lucius Junius Brutus, who was said to have driven the Etruscan kings from Rome,
Brutus joined Cassius and other leading senators in the plot that led to the assassination of Julius
Caesar on March 15, 44 BC (britannica.com). Brutus and Cassius were then forced to leave Rome by
the people but remained in Italy until Mark Antony kicked the out. The two traveled to Greece where
they were assigned provinces in the east by the senate. Slowly they took over all of the land east of
Rome (that means the armies and the treasuries). Brutus took all of the wealth he had and turned it
into Roman gold/silver coins which he imprinted his face on. In the latter half of 42 BC, Brutus and
Cassius fought Mark Antony and Octavian (later emperor Augustus) in two battles near Philippi,
Greece. Cassius had his freedman kill

The Posadas Research Paper
Las Posadas is Spanish for The Inns , and it is a religious festival celebrated across Mexico and some
parts of the United States. It is held between December 16 and 24, and lasts for nine evenings. The
Posada begins with the recitation of the Holy Rosary, a beautiful prayer to the Mother of Jesus, Mary.
It finally ends with the Posada and Midnight Mass on December 24th. It commemorates the journey
that Joseph and Mary made from Nazareth to Bethlehem in search of a location where Mary could
give birth. When they weren t able to find lodging in Bethlehem, Joseph and Mary were forced to seek
shelter in a stable, where Jesus was born. The tradition of the Posadas was brought to Mexico from
Spain in the 1500 s by Catholic Missionaries, and are not to be confused with simply a Christmas
party. Instead, the Posadas should be seen as a religious event. ... Show more content on

Introduction The human body, a biological organization of physiological cascades, is surprisingly
fragile but yet highly adaptable to withstand the varying challenges encountered in the lifetime of an
individual. From chronic illnesses to acute and rapidly changing events, the integrated cooperation
between human organ systems can dramatically influence the potential outcomes of a patient. It is
multiple deployments of singular compensatory mechanisms in response to abnormal changes that
provides this infinite flexibility. While this continuous flexibility is illustrated in lifestyle diseases such
as hypertension and diabetes, its role in acute attention demanding events are remarkable. An example

Abstract
Inclusion is examined through an article detailing the life a young girl name Ro Vargo. Risk and
resilience are examined and examples from Ro s life are discussed. The sociocultural theory is then
fully explained followed by a discussion of elements such as developmental pathways and
developmental outcomes such as optimal versus adequate adaptation. Examples from Ro s life
illustrate these concepts. Next, five scholarly research studies are examined and the pros and cons of
inclusion are discussed based on the findings of these articles. Finally, the biblical view of inclusion is
addressed.

Introduction Inclusion rejects the use of special schools or classrooms to separate students with
disabilities from students without disabilities. A premium is placed upon full participation by students
with disabilities and upon respect for their social, civil, and educational rights. In the school setting
there are special classrooms for students with disabilities in order to help them learn. When there is
inclusion in the classroom there is normally a special education teacher as well as a general education
teacher to help the students that have disabilities. This paper discusses research from articles about
intergrating inclusion in school and also a biblical perspective . Risk

The Rolling Stone s Gimme Shelter
An oft swept under the carpet Biblical story is that of the rape of Dinah and her brothers subsequent
murder of an entire city. Reminiscent of The Rolling Stone s Gimme Shelter, Chapter 34 of Genesis
exemplifies sin in the Bible to the point where the story can be looked at many ways and the blame
can be placed on many different people. There is the rapist himself, Shechem, there are the murderous
sons of Jacob, Simeon and Levi, who slaughter a defenseless city, and there is the weakness of Jacob
himself, willing to bargain his daughter away after her defilement. At the height of all the the sin
though, is the absence of God in this story, who does not condemn nor punish either the actions of
Shechem or of Simeon and Levi. That is not to say God is absent from the story though, in ... Show

While Simeon and Levi s actions may not be the hand of God directly, there is certainly the influence
of swift and just punishment over Dinah s rapists. It is not only a chivalrous defending of Dinah s
honor by her brothers, but a Biblical condemnation of rape culture by their murders. God does not
punish Simeon and Levi for their actions but rather lets them carry out the punishment for Shechem
and his sin, creating a clear image that Shechem s actions were wrong. Simeon and Levi s action also
bring up the wimpy actions, or lack thereof, of Jacob, who is, without much argument, willing to give
Dinah away as she is now spoiled goods. Their insistence on defending their sister is a necessary
extension of making this a modern parable where the rape victim is not silenced but is given a voice of
defense. Dinah s defilement is validated and recognized and avenged, giving expression to her
helplessness in the entire situation. God, with his silence and allowing of this slaughter recognizes
Dinah s plight, that the victim is deserving of more than

The Human Dimension Of The Army
The Human Dimension is a concept that the Army has been looking into over the past years as the
dynamics have changed. Soldiers and DOD Civilians make up today s fighting force. As such, it is
important to look at the whole person. The purpose of the whole person concept is to notice how our
cognitive, physical, social and spiritual attributes not only effect the Army, but how it will shape the
future of our fighting forces.
Cognitive
The way each individual learns is imperative to understand as not everyone learns using the same

King Louis Xiv Research Paper
KING LOUIS XIV
King Louis XIV inherited the throne when he was only five years old. King Louis XIV of France, the
absolute monarch, changed France s military and government. Hebuilt the Palace of Versailles,
enhanced France s military, and involved most of Europe in war.
King Louis had his builders construct the Palace of Versailles to stay in during hunting trips. Although
many builders contributed to the palace, they could not have done it without Colbert, Le Brun, Le Vau,
and Le Notre. Colbert directed the works, Le Brun and Le Vau decorated the palace, and Le Notre was
the chief gardener. The area around the palace was full of animals for King Louis to hunt.

Although the French army was very strong, they could not defeat the many nations they were fighting.
King Louis signed the Treaty of Ryswick and established status quo ante bellum.
Louis began his conquest for land and glory with the War of Devolution. Louis married Maria

controlled most of the Spanish Netherlands. Louis made a secret Treaty with the Holy Roman Empire

King Louis then moved on to the Dutch War. France allied with England, Sweden, and parts of

Symbols In The Film Batman And Bill
The film I chose was Batman and Bill, a documentary about the man that never got the credit he
deserved. For quite a long time, Bob Kane has been credited as Batman s maker. As time passed,
gossipy tidbits twirled that the Caped Crusader had another father. Who was this man? Batman and
Bill recounts the account of the un credited maker of Batman, and a campaign to bring him justice.
You can see Kane s name in every book or movie involving Batman but not everyone actually knew
who created the Dark Knight we all know and love. Until a devoted fan and author wouldn t stop until
this man got credit for the importance of his work, that author was Marc Nobleman, narrator of this

When lit, the bat logo would shadow over the skies of gotham, recognized by all near and far. We have

This can relate to the film because the symbol is shown numerous times throughout the documentary
and has many meaning whether it s for Batman himself or the secret identity of this characters creator.
Comics themself can symbolize happiness or an interest for others, or just for enjoyment for fans like

Aristotle I Remember Mama Essay
Philosophy Through Film | Aristotle amp; I Remember Mama 1. In Aristotle, the good of man is
described as final and self sufficient. That is, the chief good is something final. This relates well to
Uncle Chris throughout the movie. Everyone was scared of him he drank, he drove fast and was quite
brash. However, when he died, his nieces discovered that there was no inheritance, because he had
been donating it to children with leg problems so that they didn t grow up and limp as he did. No one
knew, until that moment, that he was spending his money on children that he didn t even know (aside
from his nephew) so that they didn t suffer the pain that he did. These donations were his chief good,

For example, when Mama spends Saturday evening counting the money that Papa has brought home
and divvying it among their bills, the kids are always as relieved as Mama that they don t have to go to
the bank. Only later did we find out that there was never a bank, but Mama didn t want to
unnecessarily worry her children. They were, after all, only children. Mama was always willing to do
anything to make her children happy, including selling the brooch that was her mother s in order to get
Katrin the dresser set that she had been eyeing for her graduation gift. When Christine told Katrin, it
was Christine that was admonished Mama, again, didn t want to worry her children. Finally, when
Aunt Trina came to tell Mama about wanting to marry Mr. Thorkelson, Mama took matters into her
own hands because Aunt Trina was afraid her sisters would laugh at her. Mama threatened to tell her
sisters secrets rather than let her timid sister be laughed at. 4. Also in Book II, Aristotle states that to
live a morally virtuous life one must avoid excess and defect. Drinking (or eating) above a certain
amount destroys the health. This is proven in Uncle Chris dying of the DTs. Although Uncle Chris was
a good man, he had vices and believed in indulging himself in pleasures, whether it be drinking,
driving fast or the pleasure of a woman. This last one, however, was once again perception, as they

Interaction with the Web site
A retailer s Web site is the primary contact point in an online transaction, where customers can
ascertain a great deal of information about an organization s attention to detail and emphasis on
customer satisfaction. If a Web site is hard to use and visually distracting, customers will often switch
to another retailer that makes the shopping experience easier. Five attributes influence how customers
evaluate the quality of their Web site interactions.
Ease of Use When customers access a retailer s Web site, they often find that no formal instructions
are provided. Instead, online retail settings frequently require customers to learn by doing. This means
that a Web site must be extremely intuitive and easy to use, regardless of how much computer
experience a customer has. In an online setting, customers associate ease of use with freedom from
significant mental effort.3 One of the strengths of online retailing endless shelf space can quickly turn
into a weakness if a Web site is difficult to use. Customers want easy to use search engines that allow
them to find products quickly. For instance, Amazon.com Inc. has a wide variety of products spanning

Comparing The Book And Movie Version Of Jaws
The film version of Jaws kept to the core story line of the novel, Jaws, however the film was more
action packed. There were many similarities but just as many differences. The pertinent characters in
the book were similar but had dissimilar personalities. The key character, Police Chief Martin Brody,
was comparable as he is a family man, loves his job, and gets frustrated when facing the dilemma of
locating and destroying the great white shark. Another resemblance is the shark is described in the
book and depicted in the film as a great white, approximately thirty feet long and very ferocious. Two
major differences are the film does not reveal references to the Mafia and does not show an
extramarital affair that Ellen, Brody s wife ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The image the filmmaker shows you the struggle of victims while iconic music is played. The motif is
the music which can be heard anytime the shark attacks. This allows the music to stand for the vision
of the shark approaching. The scene in the book that sums up the theme, is how Brody responds to the
shark violence . The scene in the movie that sums up the theme is while the men are on the boat,
bonding over their experience, Brody states You re gonna need a bigger boat (Jaws, ) as the shark
keeps ramming the boat.
VI. Other The author has the advantage of telling the story and adding more complex information to
help the reader understand the narrative and characters completely. The author s disadvantage is trying
to create a visual succinctly. An example, is Quint s boat is not fully explained to learn how small,
large, old, or new the boat actually is, you are left to wonder can the shark easily destroy the boat. The
movie advantage is the visual effects. What the author needs to describe in detail can be shown. Once
the shark appears on film, there is no doubt how menacing and terrifying the shark remains. The
movie s disadvantage is to deliver the story live and make it interesting enough to hold the viewer s
attention for about two hours. The director must distinguish what to eliminate from the book to keep

Band Performance Review
It was the night that I went to see and support my friend s middle school band performance. I
remember watching and hearing the sounds of certain instruments and being instantly drawn to them.
At the very moment I knew that music was something I wanted to learn and study all through life.
There was something beautiful about the way each individual instrument sounded, and the abilities
that each musician had to make their instruments sound a certain way. The next year I signed up for
my school s band classes and began to learn and study about music and music theory. The one thing
about music though that really captures my interest is the fact that it can provoke and produce so many
emotions in someone. As someone who has a rather hard time expressing themselves, music was

strategies can be and have been implemented to accommodate to a wider genre of writing and writers.
One such method that can prove to be useful without much work on the writing center s behalf is to

One aspect that has been suggested and criticized all at once is the notion of having a purposefully

The Price of the Prize
Acts of kindness and charity make the world go round . As one person helps another, a type of pay it
forward phenomenon may occur. If this did happen, and everyone who was helped gave up a little bit
of their time to help another, many lives would be changed for the better. In many cases, where quite a
bit of participation is needed, overseers may lure contestants in with some sort of inducement. Do
people really deserve and often expect accolades for what they have done? Even though some rewards
in return for acts of charity are healthy in moderation, frequent incentives would undermine the actual
cause of helping others. If every good deed had a small reward, opposition would be scarce. However,
if this reward would be used to boost students grades or give employees raises, many would become
skeptical. This is evident when students receive enrichment points for participating and contributing to
a charity drive for those affected by natural disasters or other catastrophic events. When students know
ahead of time that they have an opportunity to increase their grade in a certain class, they will most
likely contribute as much as they can for free points. The careless donating may seem impeccant and
unimportant, but the points earned are enough to skew student s grades as they fail to prove their
knowledge and understanding of material. Credit earned in school should be for successfully
completing assigned class work and grades should portray what the student truly

Summary Of Chira Banerjee Divakaruni s The Palace Of...
Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni s novel, The Palace of Illusions is the epitome of feminism. It retells the

The Role of Repetition in Hemingway s Short Stories In some of Ernest Hemingway s greatest short
stories, repetition holds great significance. Hemingway uses repeated words and phrases in various
ways. The different ways that Hemingway uses repetition helps the reader have intuition of what they

Hemingway uses creates a series of connections between ideas, along with helping the readers

Aristophanes And Plato Compared To Socrates
Aristophanes describes him as a impatient and narrow mind thinker and he also not consider Socrates
as a teacher but just a normal thinker who tries to convey his ideologies in typical way. Aristophanes
pointed Socrates as evil person who just try to be a great thinker and wanted to give their teachings to
other. Aristophanes describes Socrates very ironically and revealed many controversial facts about him
in his works.
But on the contrary Plato also describes Socrates in a very critical way and also portrayed as a very
disputable way but he also Characterize him as a philosopher who give lot of contributions in the
western philosophy.Plato consider his as a sophist because he was father of western philosophy and
propounded many theories and also gives many doctrines which also known as Doctrine of Socrates
but as same as Aristophanes he describes him as an ironic person who does not believe in God.
Socrates was stirred in so many controversies and had put to death by jury of five hundred member
just because he did not admit his faith in God when he was accused by his fellow. He was sentenced to
death by Athenian court just because he did not believe in the faith of God and he was refuse to
identify God. Poison was given to him to give him death.
These were the depictions which were critically characterized by the Aristophanes and Plato in context
of Socrates disbelief in God s faith.

Loss Of Children In The Stone Boy By Gina Berriault
The Stone Boy
Way too often we see kids who are neglected emotionally after a tragic event, and how negatively it
effects them later on. It forces them to give up their innocent childhood. That is exactly what happens
in Gina Berriault s short story The Stone Boy . The story is about a 9 year old boy who accidently
shoots his older brother dead. The boy shows no emotion, whatsoever, and it is clear the grownups do
not understand him, so he is labeled with words like cruel . He does not understand his feelings and he
loses his identity when his mother rejects him in a way no mother should. So he is left alone,

dealing with his sorrow, and instead they label the boy as cruel. Arnold is already in between identities
because of the accident, which threw him out of the childish innocence, so he needs his parent s
guidance and comfort more than ever. He is very insecure, and in the interview, he relies completely
on his father s answers. However, when his parents believe he is cruel, he thinks it must be right, so he

The cardiovascular system is a network of inter connected arteries, capillaries and veins that spread
across the whole body. The first major function of the system is to transport oxygenated and de

Our marketing objective is to promote the BMW MINI to our target audience of driving consumers in
their mid twenties to thirties with heavy television, print, and outdoor campaigning. The MINI will
kick off its introduction with the first of seven new TV spots breaking on October 26th during Sunday
Night Football on ESPN. The television campaign will continue to roll out over October and
November on cable networks including CNBC, CNN, MTV and VH1. The strategy is to include this
broad range of drivers offering them opportunities to take their driving experience to a whole new

The Politics Of Refugee Relief
The Civil War in Syria has raged on for over six years now, and over half of the population has fled or
died in the war torn country. A constant rain of bombings, bullets and fires that burn down their
communities plague the cities of Syria. It is due to this that the large number of fleeing refugees from
the Middle East is continuing to grow. This is directly affecting the conditions of the refugee camps
that are willing to house the majority of refugees. Therefore, the effect is growing more unacceptable.
It does seem that the camps are able to support these numbers, and some of the asylum seekers are

Chaos still runs rampant in the towns, rather than being safe havens for those who are seeking shelter.
The presence of war is still undeniable, and the presence of gangs is slowly rising within the camps. In
a camp in Za atari Jordan, the leaders of gangs are on the rise. In the article The Politics of Refugee
Relief. Dissent, the author addresses the issue directly by reviewing them as powerful individuals and
organized gangs [that] have imposed their will on sections of the camp, diverting assistance and
engaging in criminal activities. (para. 3) . These leaders were once people of importance in their
hometowns back in Syria. Therefore the residents of the camps easily let them take on power within
their section of the camp. According to Clarke, the gang leaders took part in activities such as
run[nning] illegal businesses or smuggling operations (as in Lebanon, Syrians cannot legally work in
Jordan), and some deliberately diverted aid and goods to their own constituents in the camp. (para. 4) .
Why is it that, in a place that is meant to be refuge for patrons of war, they are still facing the violent
actions of gang leaders and illegal activity? The answer is simple and written clearly in the desert
sand: these people are trying so desperately to find solitude again, but are being denied the most basic
principles of a stable life. The camps are established with good intentions but lack the quality and
provisions needed to support the refugees. Such is that follows any other fallen government or

an in depth film by Morgan Spurlock, which shows viewers his journey from healthy eating to
becoming a fast food junkie. Viewers are able to see the damage that the unhealthy food from
McDonald s causes while Spurlock eats three meals a day from the fast food chain. Spurlock visits
three schools, each with different meal programs. The differences in the healthy and unhealthy choices
made by the schools are abundantly clear. Audiences also become aware of how effective advertisers
are in securing business for unhealthy food products. Spurlock s ... Show more content on

Watching him wake up early in the morning having a hard time breathing and complaining of heart
palpitations makes even the most avid McDonald s patron want to stop eating their harmful food.
During a checkup after experiencing the heart palpitations, Dr. Isaacs tells Spurlock Your cholesterol
is now 225 and your liver is inflamed. The doctor advises him to stop eating McDonald s food. It is
shocking to see that after only two weeks on a McDonald s diet an individual can become severely ill.
Dr. Isaacs tells Spurlock You are pickling your liver much like an alcoholic does when drinking. My
advice is to stop. Stop this fatty diet. Two weeks later Spurlock s final weigh in indicates that he has
gone from 185.5 lbs. to 210 lbs. He has gained a total of 24.5 lbs., which has increased his total body
fat from 11% to 18%. It is astonishing to see that thirty days of a fast food diet can cause so much
damage to an individual s body. The unhealthy effect fast food has on the body is no longer deniable
to individuals who have seen the film. Schools play a vital role in the health and well being of their
students. Spurlock gives viewers a look into three different schools and the nutrition they supply their
students. Madison Jr. High in Naperville, Illinois outsources their food services to Sodexho Alliance.
Sodexho Alliance provides students with many unhealthy lunch choices. Among their food choices are

Breastfeeding in Public
Breastfeeding in Pubic Right or Wrong
Have you ever wondered what food is safe, effective, and readily assessable? That is engineered to
individual needs, environmentally friendly, painless, offers long term protection, is free and as a side
effect is a weight loss method? Could you imagine someone being discriminated against for using
such a great product? Breastfeeding is the oldest form of feeding a child. It has existed since the
beginning of time. In fact, out of all the mammals that exist on this planet, every one of them nurse
their babies, including humans. Recently, breastfeeding in public has been seen as indecent. Why
would society frown upon the most natural and beautiful act a mother can do for her child ? Almost ...

Again, in the state of Ohio, a law took effect in 2005 that gives women the right to breastfeed children
in any location of any public accommodation where she is allowed to be. Bonnie Morris thought that
breastfeeding in public was her right, however; when she was asked to leave an American Eagle store,
her rights were violated. Unlike the models for fashion retailers, Bonnie Morris says she wasn t
showing any skin. The mother of five said she was discreetly nursing her child on a couch in
American Eagle Outfitters store at Easton on Tuesday when employees approached her twice and then
urged her to go to the dressing room. Morris said she told the clerk that she was fine on the couch. She
said she was about to say the same thing to the next clerk but she didn t get a chance. Morris said the
clerk bent down with a very urgent tone in her voice, and said No, we recommend it. Come with me
now! Morris said my choices were to leave the store or do what they said. It was clear (Price, 2010)
Not only are women being asked to leave retail stores, airplanes and, public places. They are being
arrested. Simply for taking pictures of a time they want to remember in the life of their child .
Jacqueline Mercado, a 33 year old Peruvian immigrant, took a few photos of her young child
breastfeeding. A week later, Richardson police were rummaging through her

  • 2. Similarities Between Islam And Mormonism Islam and Mormonism Islam and Mormonism are two monotheistic religions whose origins go back to Abraham, but were founded within the last 1500 years. There are many similarities between the religions, and of course, many differences. The Qur an is the sacred text of Islam. Muslims believe that Muhammad, at twenty three years of age, received revelation from God over the next twenty three years through the angel Gabriel. Muslims view the Qur an as God s final revelation and would not accept any other revelations. They believe that Muhammad was the final prophet. For most Muslims, the Qur an is only really the sacred word of God if it is in Arabic. Muslims believe that the current Qur an is exactly the same as what was revealed to Muhammad ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Mormonism, there is something similar to the Five Pillars of Islam in that they have a list of beliefs that they see as their main or most important beliefs which are listed in the Thirteen Articles of Faith. The most important of those articles of faith would be Mormonism s version of the Five Pillars of Islam. The first article of faith is probably the most important one: that we believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost. The next Pillar of Mormonism would be the second article of faith in my opinion: that we believe that men will be punished for their own sins, and not for Adam s transgression. The next Pillar of Mormonism would be the third article of faith:that we believe that through the Atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved, by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel. The next and in my opinion, the most important of all our articles of faith is the fourth one: that we believe that the first principles and ordinances of the Gospel are: first, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; second, Repentance; third, Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; fourth, Laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost. You could also break that article of faith up and say that the four ordinances and principles listed in the fourth article of faith are four of the Pillars of Mormonism . The last Pillar of Mormonism would be that we believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly; we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God. This is important because it sets us apart from other religions, especially other Christian religions. There are many beliefs in Mormonism and many beliefs in Islam, and just as the Five Pillars of Islam outline the most important beliefs of Islamic belief, the Thirteen Articles of Faith outline the most important and basic beliefs of Mormonism. • 4. Atmospheric Temperature Causes Higher Saturation Vapor... In Figure 4, Mr. Yi explained that the increases in atmospheric temperature causes higher saturation vapor pressure, the greater the capacity for water to evaporate from soils and water bodies and transpire from plants. With the increase of saturation vapor pressure atmospheric warming directly increases plants evapotranspiration demands, which would to more water emitted by vegetated surfaces to the atmosphere unless soil moisture gets too depleted. Weather systems accompanied with extreme precipitation events can become more violent as more latent heat is released. These events would tax the system making it longer between the recharging of the atmosphere with moisture as its holding capacity for water increases. The results are longer duration between precipitation and extended drought (Yi, Pendall, Ciais, Focus on extreme events and the carbon cycle, 2015). Figure # 5. A conceptual diagram (modified from Allen et al. [2010]) showing the range of variability of Current Climate parameters for temperature and precipitation or drought, with only a small portion of the current climate envelope currently exceeding a species specific tree mortality threshold (the red line). The two future climate envelopes show shifts to more extreme temperature and drought conditions associated with projected climate changes, indicating greater risks of drought induced die off for current tree populations. We decided that a compilation of personal stories would be the best method to communicate the values and outcomes of the SDP, and therefore, show administrators how valuable the program is to people. Denning further supports this idea when he states that effective companies spark change when Groups possess analogous who we are stories, which are less about the leader s personal experiences and attitudes and more about the joint experiences and attitudes of the people within the organization and their shared beliefs (Denning 58). Therefore, the sections of the interviews we chose to include in the video help paint a picture of the organization as a whole. Also, we added in a few photos of the participants activities, so as to not only let our viewers hear the benefits of the program, but also see visual proof of how the program is a beneficial entity. Denning states that In performing the story, the storyteller relives the story and makes it fresh as if the viewers were there at those particular, specified moments (Denning 26). Our goal was to have our audience feel as though they were apart of each participants activities through the various photos. Night Shyamalan s theatrical interpretation, The Village, it is important to understand who Puritans were and what kinds of beliefs they had. Puritans, different from Pilgrims, attempted to purify the Church of England in the seventeenth century as they felt it had been insufficiently reformed. Their idea of reformation consisted of a Calvinistic approach to society; believing in the absolute sovereignty of God, absolute dependence on divine grace for salvation, and the importance of personal religious experience. This meant that not only did they have to cleanse the church of traditional Roman Catholic practices, but also develop a new societal structure that reflected their new ... The fictional community portrayed in the film disregards some of the social standards that actual Puritans had established, circa the 1600s, in regard to societal gender roles, but does a good job in accurately presenting other social aspects. In The Village, women are portrayed as a more significant element to the Puritan lifestyle as they assume roles as towns elect. This can be spotted when Luscious, the protagonist, delivers his proposal to the town hall members when he wishes to venture out into the forbidden forest. Out of the twelve members at the meeting, five were females; proving to be completely contrary to real Puritan society. Massachusetts Bay Colony, for example, was a man s world with extreme patriarchal social structures. It was understood among Puritans that women were not to assume positions at town meetings and were excluded from any decision making in the church. Another good example of the prejudice against women was the Salem Witch Trials, in which ¾ of all convicted heretics were females. It was believed that women were more susceptible to Satan s influence, and for that reason should stay out of the affairs of men and government as a whole. Because of their military strand they differed from their predecessors the Protestant Patriots , this is because the society was heavily influenced by revolutionary events in France and New America in the late 18th century. I remember watching and hearing the sounds of certain instruments and being instantly drawn to them. At the very moment I knew that music was something I wanted to learn and study all through life. There was something beautiful about the way each individual instrument sounded, and the abilities that each musician had to make their instruments sound a certain way. The next year I signed up for my school s band classes and began to learn and study about music and music theory. If this did happen, and everyone who was helped gave up a little bit of their time to help another, many lives would be changed for the better. In many cases, where quite a bit of participation is needed, overseers may lure contestants in with some sort of inducement. Do people really deserve and often expect accolades for what they have done? Even though some rewards in return for acts of charity are healthy in moderation, frequent incentives would undermine the actual cause of helping others. If every good deed had a small reward, opposition would be scarce. However, if this reward would be used to boost students grades or give employees raises, many would become skeptical. This is evident when students receive enrichment points for participating and contributing to a charity drive for those affected by natural disasters or other catastrophic events. When students know ahead of time that they have an opportunity to increase their grade in a certain class, they will most likely contribute as much as they can for free points. The careless donating may seem impeccant and unimportant, but the points earned are enough to skew student s grades as they fail to prove their knowledge and understanding of material.
