The Most Important Aspects Of My Life
Education is and has always been one of the most important aspects of my life. Teachers are some of
the most disciplined people on the face of the earth because they are the ones that are responsible for
educating future generations. They shape the lives of students by passing on values and beliefs,
passion, and a better understanding of their subject matter. In the elementary grades, students are often
asked, What would you like to be when you grow up? I can remember a time in fourth grade when
most of my classmates had responses like astronaut, rapper, and professional athlete, but our teacher
asked, What career could you choose that would make a difference? Most answers revolved around
doctor, nurse, lawyer, and president, but I raised my hand and responded with teacher. My teacher
gave me a look that made me feel that I was in trouble. She then asked me to explain why I said
teacher and I told her that I had really good teachers that made me realize that there are individuals
that have to educate the doctors, lawyers, and professional athletes and I wanted to be able to be one
of those teachers because I would be able to make a difference. She told me that I was headed in the
right direction and from then on I knew I was destined to be a teacher. Whitney Houston famously
sang, I believe the children are our future. Teach them well and let them lead the way. Show them all
the beauty they possess inside. Give them a sense of pride. Let the children s laughter remind

Introduction
This research was conducted in order to evaluate the effect of a perioperative safety checklist on
perioperative safety standards and the quality of inter professional cooperation from the staff s
perspective. A 19 item questionnaire was used to survey employees attitudes regarding safety relevant
aspects of the perioperative period, work processes, and quality of inter professional cooperation

This section makes it very clear that the purpose of this article is to evaluate perioperative safety
standards and the quality of inter professional cooperation before and after the implementation of a
safety checklist.
Abstract
The abstract clearly and effectively summarizes the research report. It was logically organized into a
background, methods, results, and conclusion section and was very useful in helping me decide
whether or not this article would be useful in answering my clinical question. This section clearly
identifies that the population being studied is the operating room staff which is relevant to my research
question.
Introduction (including literature review/use of previous research)
The report does include an introduction section although it is not clearly identified with a bold
heading. I do think that this section discusses aspects of my clinical question. This section clearly
states the relevance of the research question and its importance in nursing. The majority of the
literature cited is current relative to the publication date of the article and contributes to the
understanding of the research question.
This section presents the idea that the implementation of the Surgical Safety Checklist , which was
promoted by the World Health Organization (WHO), caused a significant decline in the occurrence of

Comparing Austen s Pride And Prejudice
Gay further states that blushing is not an act that is confined to Anne or females in general in the late
1800s and early 1900s. During courtship and in other instances, men also blushed at the sight of a
woman. When one felt so strongly about someone else, blushing was a common practice. Although
this is not to say that it was not a cause for embarrassment especially for men who at the time were so
masculinized that it was seen as a taboo. However, Austen does depict men such as Captain
Wentworth as creatures who were not shy about expressing themselves and showing how they felt
through blushing (Gay 19). He does so when he sees Anne in Bath after he leaves Louisa. To him, it
was merely an expression of the love and excitement that he felt ... Show more content on

She is described as a snow queen who gave a chill wherever she went. Just like her sister, Anne, she is
not married. Her father, Walter Elliot had arranged for her to marry her cousin, William but he instead
got married to a wealthy heiress. This was a common practice in the 1800s and most times, people
from noble or classy backgrounds were promised to their cousins because they were seen as worthy
and deserving of their hand in marriage. When Gay talks about Anne in here article, she wants to
demonstrate the romance that existed at the time. However, she also intends to contrast this with a lack
of choice and passion that was synonymous with the time. Girls are particularly vulnerable to the
practice of marrying into the family and enduring a loveless marriage while at the same time living a
miserable life. Although some were comfortable with it, like Elizabeth, others were not. They wished
to have the freedom of choice to be courted by anyone they wanted and get married to a person of
their choosing. Romance did exist even for such people. However, it was unnatural and felt forced or
coerced by societal and family

Chinese Medicine And China History And Eastern Culture
The Chinese medicine is related to china history and eastern culture. Every culture has its own idea
about creation of universe and human being. Chinese has a basic theory for human creation that
included the human s physiology and the human s substance. The theory of five substances depends
on five elements that related to all physiologic activity of human. One of them is Qi. Qi term has a
conflicted idea between traditional Chinese medicine and western scientific sense that due to
misunderstand Chinese medicine turn and lack of word. However, People wonder about qi what is qi?
Where does qi come from or from where?

In other word, qi is the life to different things. Qi is all physiologic activity of universe that gave the
movement and the life to everything. According to Wisman Jing Yue s states that human life depends
upon this qi. Also, when qi gathers, the physical body is formed; when qi disperses, the body dies. Qi
is form the human. Qi gives a life to everything, and gives form for everything. According to Flam qi
congeals to make humans. Not only does the uniting of qi make form, it also specifically makes the
human form or body. (page, 99.) It is the soul of the body that is giving in the first breath of human
life. Also, Qi inherits from the parents, which is the pre heaven qi that gets from parents. Kendall
stated that Nejing is a compilation of Chinese medicine concept and is still relevant today and
provides an amazing understanding of human body that is still accurate. Per heaven Qi is not exactly
DNA by its self in the western scientific sense of this word. It is the thing that gives the DNA specific
form, and the life. Qi gives the form to DNA and the life for DNA. Also, qi can be the idea that came
from the qi can able to engender the blood and blood mothers of qi, which has the same idea of the pre
heavens and DNA.
However, Qi is not just DNA or per heaven qi. As I mentioned before that qi is all the physiological
functions and all movement of the phenomenal in universe. Therefore, there are

Rebellion Against Oppression
How Does Oppression Within Like Water for Chocolate and The House of Bernarda Alba Lead To
Unnatural Consequences?
In both Like Water for Chocolate and The House of Bernarda Alba rebellion against oppression is a
strong theme, with both Tita and Adela struggling to break free of their mother s authoritarianism.
However, it is important to realise that with both characters, the authors are using them to symbolise
their own journeys. Federico Garcia Lorca uses Adela s strong willed fight against Bernarda Alba to
represent the costs of repressing the freedom of others. Likewise, in Like Water for Chocolate, Laura
Esquivel uses Tita s constant battle against Mama Elena to show how women struggle to be heard and
how both men and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Angustias is seen looking at Pepe El Romano, her mother asks is it proper for a woman of your
class to go chasing after a man? She is instantly noticing that her daughter is stepping outside her class
and reining her back in. When Matirio is set to marry Enrique Humanas, Bernarda won t allow it
because her blood will never mix with that of the Humanas family proving that her only real interest is
in class rather than the welfare of her daughters. Mama Elena and Bernarda Alba have different
reasons for oppressing their daughters but both women are equally as keen to enforce their rules. It is
ironic how un natural the ends of oppression are shown to be.
When Tita is brought into the world prematurely after her father s sudden death, Mama Elena is the
opposite of a nurturer, never forging any bond with Tita. Tita develops a relationship with food that
gives her the power to nurture and give outlet to her emotions. Tita rebels against her mother s
authority first through her consorting with Pedro. When Tita receives the news that Pedro is to be
married to Rosaura, her life begins to crumble around her and throughout the novel there are many
times when they meet without Mama Elena s knowledge. Roberto, Rosaura and Pedro s son is a
strong, if not surprising influence in Tita s actions. Roberto forges the bond with Tita that her and her
mother never had and contary to what she had expected she feels an immense tenderness towards the

Why Did America Lose The Revolutionary War
Let s first imagine if America lost the revolutionary war. First, the colony in North America would
have smaller territories with Mexico separated and Russia retaining Alaska. The Russians would not
sell any territories of theirs to the enemy, which is the British empire. Therefore, Alaska would be
owned by Russia. One of Britain s allies was Spain so, it is highly plausible that Florida, California,
Texas would all be owned by Spanish. Second, there would be less population as there won t be mass
emigration. Wanting more people to help a country grow would make sense for a new country who
just declared their independence. But, the British would be less eager to do that. Britain would highly

America is very diverse which contributed a lot to the creative ideas that the country had. Diversity

Healthcare Data Essay
A. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of each of the following categories of healthcare data: 1.
aggregate data 2. comparative data 3. patient centric data When it comes to reviewing healthcare data
there are certain data categories an organization needs to keep in mind, those categories include
aggregate data, comparative data, and patient centric data. All of the categories have advantages and
disadvantages. In the following paragraphs I will list out the advantage and disadvantages of the
categories mentioned above. First, let us start with aggregate data. Aggregate data can be used to
detect patterns or similarities from numerous groups of patients. This data helps healthcare
organizations and healthcare providers develop a plan of care or prevention of illnesses and a better
understanding of how to properly manage a disease process. With the use of aggregate data, vital signs
and other lab work can be tracked on a daily basis and if there is a need for a different dose or type of
medication, it can be caught early and corrected. A disadvantage of aggregate data would be that there
is underlying factors that is not disclosed and because of the underlying factors, the data gathered is
not beneficial when it comes to treating the patient. Therefore, the patient can suffer from a specific
event that was not treated properly. Next, let us discuss comparative data. Comparative data can be
defined as data that can be used for

Futility Research Paper
Introduction
Futility is not a new concept to field of medicine. Hippocrates said that physicians should refuse to
treat those who are overmastered by their disease, realizing that in such cases medicine is powerless 1
.Forgoing (withdrawing or withholding) life sustaining measures, may sound a negative in
grammatical form, but it is a compassionate way of maintaining patient s dignity when these measures
of prolonging life seems to just defy death and not providing fruitful outcome, and also in a way, it
defines limits to technological advancement of the medical field 2,3.Physicians must realize that,
despite huge advances in medical science and technology, not everyone can be saved at all times.
Doing everything that is best for the patient may not always include life prolonging measures like
CPR or ventilation, but rather may imply moving from curing to caring for a patient with palliative

Neuroscience Of The Nervous System
Vigen Karchyan
Neuroscience Neuroscience, commonly referred to as Neural Science, is the study of the way the
nervous system develops, how it is structured and the functions of it. Scientists put emphasis on the
brain and the impact it has on behavior and cognitive functions. These scientists approach a closer
look on the reactions the nervous system has when humans have neurological, psychiatric and
neurodevelopmental disorders. The entire concept of neuroscience is addressed as a subdivision of
biology. It is applied to chemistry, cognitive science, engineering, mathematics, linguistics and more.
Scientists say that neuroscience is identical as neurobiology but there is a difference between the two
conceptions. Neurobiology focuses mainly on the biology of the nervous system and neuroscience
emphasizes on any portion of the nervous system. Neuroscientists have various fields of study that
include cellular, functional, computational and medical aspects of the nervous system. The history of
neuroscience dates back and the Ancient Egyptians believed that intelligence rooted from the heart.
Throughout the process of mummification, they detached the brain but left the heart inside of the
body. Herodotus, a Greek historian that lived up until 425BC, claimed the most perfect practice is to
extract as much of the brain as possible with an iron hook, and what the hook cannot reach is mixed
with drugs. There were scripts focused on the brain that were first found in 1700BC in

Deception In The Tragedy Of Hamlet

Hamlet deceives others through the need to get revenge for his father s death . Hamlet s deception and
need for revenge continues to cause him to question himself and his existence. In doing this, he is an
indecisive character . Hamlet is additionally deceiving his own friends and family, causing them to
feel the pain just so he avenge his father s honor. The meaning of the play as a whole is that deceit

animating process, animating programs, what to do with finished animations, and animators to look at

The animating process has three main parts; the frames, the audio, and editing. Frames are every

degree in art programing and animation use TV paint. There are many places to display your
animations and art so everyone can see it. Most animators post their creations on YouTube or a social
media site. While some animators post their works on sites from the company of the animating
program they are using. For example, Flipnote has a website called Sudomemo. Sudomemo is
accessible from a computer or a Nintendo DSI System. Their, flipnotes are available to watch and
download.
There are a few animator that have inspired me to animate. Some of their animation are worth looking
at. Sugurr(pronounced sugar), Vivziepop, and SaltyMilk can all be found on YouTube and are amazing
animators with smooth, detailed animation. They all use a different animating programed and have
developed their own unique art style. Shgurr uses Sudo and has a rather simplistic art style. Vivziepop
uses TV Paint and has an extremely detailed art style. SaltyMilk uses Flipnote and has a median
detailed art style.
In conclusion, animation can be a fun hobby or even an occupation. You must put work and thought

The Gothic Elements in the Picture of Dorian Gray
Abstract In an attempt to find out the purposes of the gothic elements in The Picture of Dorian Gray,
this essay takes a close look at the three most prevailing gothic elements in the novel: the portrait,
decadence, and the gothic villain by first exploring their presence and development throughout, and
then examining their contributions to the characters, the plot development and the themes. First of all,
the unique properties and symbolic meanings of the portrait in this novel are discussed. The purpose
of the portrait is then analyzed in terms of its effect on Dorian Gray. Then, the theme of decadence is

state and moral values was dramatic. He learned to appreciate decadent art, to conform to the
philosophy of to cure the soul by means of senses by going to opium dens and eventually to

because his beauty remained intact and thus created an innocent image of him, the portrait recorded
his inner change by altering his appearances, as we observe for the first time in the novel the touch of
cruelty round the warped lips in the painting after the death of Sybil Vane. The painting provided
Dorian a double life, as remarked in Into the Demon Universe: A Literary Exploration of Oscar Wilde:
The picture of his soul was locked safely away in a dark room while the innocent face he presented to
respectable society was only a mask. Indeed, the portrait became the spokesperson of Dorian s true
personality by altering his appearances according to his corruption of the mind.
A more convincing evidence of the portrait being a reflection of Dorian s moral decadence lies
moments before the death of Dorian. At the night of his death, Dorian attempted to convince himself
that he had indeed changed and had started committing

The Mentally Ill O FF Ender Treatment And Crime Reduction...
The Mentally Ill Oļ¬€ender Treatment and Crime Reduction Act of 2004: Problems and Prospects by
Christine M. Litschgea and Michael G. Vaughn, is a research article whose focus is three fold. First,
the researchers reviewed the literature available on the components that have influenced the
considerable increases of incarcerated persons with severe mental illness (SMI). Secondly, they
analyzed the Mentally Ill Oļ¬€ender Treatment and Crime Reduction Act of 2004 (MIOTCRA), and

Lastly, they propose recommendations, these are based on the outcome of their reviews and analyses,
which include: effecting and requiring enforcement of policies already in existence, decreasing the
number of individuals with untreated SMI by changing outpatient commitment speciļ¬cations, which
would require close monitoring of patients compliance with treatment, thus reducing the overall
number of SMI individuals becoming involved in the criminal justice system at all. They also
recognized the need for evidence based programs, and additional research to investigate the actual
effectiveness of MHC s and public mental health services.
Analysis and Evaluation
The issue chosen by the researchers, is a relevant issue facing the criminal justice system. The
predominance of mental health problems among incarcerated persons in both prisons and jails present
major problems for each component of the criminal justice system; law enforcement, courts, and
corrections. The entire criminal justice system is negatively impacted and overburdened by untreated
mental illness. According to Bureau of Justice Statistics, more than half of all prison and jail inmates

Epicurus On Fear
Fearing the eternal sleep
When people think about the possibility of death, pain is the most commonly thing that comes to their
mind. For many people they have asked the question what is death to us. Some have stated that it is
not something to fear because it is annihilation and no one can experience death. While other people
have claimed that death is bad because it takes one from all the good in life. I believe death is
something to be feared because it brings many bad experiences to people.
First of all some people have determined that death is not something to be fear. One such famous
philosopher is Epicurus and he claims that death is not bad. One statement made by Epicurus is that
death is not bad, it is the dying part that is bad.

Jesse Owens s Journey To The 1936 Berlin Olympics
We all have dreams. But in order to make dreams come into reality, it takes an awful lot of
determination, dedication, self discipline, and effort. This quote by Jesse Owens shows that nothing is
impossible. Jesse Owens bravery and courage to go to the 1936 Berlin Olympics led to less racial
discrimination in sports, more blacks competing in athletics, and to more respect for black people.
Back in this time, there weren t many black people competing in sports. This was because racial
tension in America was at a high and many black people didn t want to deal with it. But, then came
Jesse Owens. He didn t come from a fortunate family so he had to work for everything that he got. He
went to school through college and made it to the Olympics despite racism, all due to his
determination, dedication, self discipline, and effort.
Jesse Owens was born on September 12, 1913 in Oakville, AL. Jesse was born into poverty and had a

Ventricular Tachycardia Lab
Ventricular Tachycardia
An dysrhythmia of the heart is an irregular heartbeat rhythm. Ventricular tachycardia is an
dysrhythmia in which the lower chambers of the heart, the ventricles, beat unusually fast.
The heart rate is measured with an electrocardiogram, or ECG. This is a machine that measures the
electrical impulses from the patient s heart. This is displayed on a monitor or ECG graph paper. The
boxes on the graph paper measure time. Five small boxes are equal to one large box. The large box

The SA node is the primary pacemaker of the heart. It starts the heartbeat by spontaneously
contracting, causing the rest of the heart to contract in a wave.
The wave spreads through the atria before reaching the atrioventricular node, or AV node, located just
above the right ventricle. The AV node focuses the wave into the ventricles, contracting the ventricles.
Should the SA node fail, the AV node can take over as the primary pacemaker at a rate of forty to sixty
beats per minute.
Should both the SA node and the AV node fail, there is a tertiary pacemaker, the perkinje fibers.
Perkinje fibers are located near the bottom of the ventricles and can stimulate contraction at a rate of
twenty to forty beats per minute.
If the perkinje fibers or the AV node becomes irritated, they can begin contraction of the ventricles at
speeds well above normal. Other causes of ventricular tachycardia include heart disease and
medications.
When the ventricles are contracting at a rate greater than one hundred beats per minute, the heart
becomes inefficient. Blood cannot properly fill the ventricular chambers before it is forced out. This
decreases the amount of oxygenated blood circulating through the body.
The lack of oxygen in the body causes the heart to attempt to pump more blood, forcing the ventricles
to work even harder. Should the

capture different wavelengths of light. Light capturing pigments in green plants are called chlorophylls
and these absorb all the colors of light except green, which is mostly reflected. To separate molecules
from each other according to their solubility in a particular solvent is done by the process of
chromatography. This basically means that polar ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ecology is the branch of biology that studies the interactions of organisms with each other, and with
their physical and chemical environments. Another main topic discussed in this chapter is ecosystems.
Ecosystems are habitats or areas that consists of two basic components. Ecosystems include such
things as biotic and abiotic components. Biotic components are living organisms within an ecosystem
and abiotic components are things like sunlight, temperature, and rainfall. Within an ecosystem are
producer and autotrophs. Producers and autotrophs consist of plants, algae, and bacteria. These two
organisms obtain food from inorganic materials and light energy. As to where consumer and
heterotrophs obtain energy by eating plants or the animals that eat the plants. An ecosystem is made
up of several different parts. Each part of an ecosystem is different from the other. None of these parts
within the ecosystem rely on the other. They are all interdependent being either predators or

Change School Lunch
Why would you choose something the students will most likely disagree on when you can keep what
you have now. Why would you change the menu to healthier food when they are reason why you
should not. It is a bad choice to change the school lunch because the students might not eat the food
the type of food you are switching it to. For example, students will not eat the food if you do decide to
change it. They might not eat the food because they might not like it. They might not like the taste of
the certain food you are feeding them. Not eating the food can also led them to hate eating healthy
food everyday. The reason for that is they eat it everywhere they go including school, at home, and
anywhere else they go. The students also worry about they next day everyday. The students can worry
about it throughout the school day and ask themself if they are going to get something different for
once. When the students do not eat they can be consequences for it. Next is it being a waste of time
fixing the food. It is a waste of time because it is not getting eaten by the students. The reason why it
is getting wasted and thrown away is because they do not like the food you switched it to. Some
people may believe that it is a good idea to change school lunch because it would be better for
everyone. However, it is not a good ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Analysis of Joan Didionā€™s Essay, On Going Home
While reading Joan Didion s essay On Going Home one may be reminded of a sense of home and
family. In this essay Didion recreates the feeling one gets when one visits a place from the past or
while reminiscing about fond memories. This memory is marked by the reflective thought about the
ability to be able to pass this same sense on to another. Didion s On Going Home is like a flood of
warm memories leaving you with a single reflective thought.
The way she uses description in this essay and the flow of events is very similar to the way that
memories rush in when one returns to a familiar place from one s past. To someone that may not of
experienced this phenomena the details described may seem to be disconnected and random. ... Show

Each detail is seemingly distinct yet each shares the same sense of family and of personal history.
Readers who share this same sense of home may be touched be the way Didion connects with them
through her use of description. While she does not directly relate her point to the audience it is clearly
present. Each element in the essay highlights not only the sense of family that is there but how they
influence a person s perspective and attitude. While one shares in her journey through her past and her
visits with her family it brings to mind how one may or may not have this same sense of family to pass
on to their family or even have it themselves. This point is summoned in the closing paragraph when
Didion herself reflects on this thought.
The flow of this narrative may seem jumpy or disconnected and illogical to some but to others who
share a similar perspective the details seem like a flood of memories. Every detail and element is
timeless and independent of the others while at the same time holding a deeper connection shared with
all of the others. Each detail holds a value that isn t noticed at first by others just like each of the items
she mentions holds a value to her and her family but is lost on her husband who doesn t share the same
sense of home with her.
Didion well highlighted the issue that she felt about not

Overcoming Fear Of Failure By Vicki Zakrzewski
The article titled How to help kids overcome fear of failure by Vicki Zakrzewski made me think about
failure in a new light. I chose this article because it is something I still need to learn myself. It is easy
to think, I will be able to help coach my students about failure and help them see that it is okay to
mess up and not be perfect ! When I have to take my own advice that is a different story. I do not take
failure well. I have always put a lot of pressure on myself to succeed and hate it when I feel like I can t
do something well. The article gave great advice that I can apply in my own life and then teach my
students in the future. The article mentions different ways that people avoid failure. I am diffidently

History Of Roman And Greek Culture
It is the constant aim of the management to prevent the use of a single word, expression, or situation
that will offend the intelligent, refined and cultured classes (Stein 23). This is the motto of Mr. Chase s
Original Idea: Polite Vaudeville, a then unheard of yet soon widely popular subcategory of vaudeville
theater in the early 1900s until the 1930s. In many places and in many time periods in the world, it is
found that theater is not only considered prominent in culture but is often integral. This can be seen
especially in ancient Roman and Greek culture, as the combination of theater, music, and dance were
significant.
Rome has been a place of passionate, bustling life for more than 2,000 years. This trend started when
the huge city was founded in 753 B.C.E. Theater has been an essential part of Roman culture since
this time, and expressive plays and musicals were performed regularly. Roman plays were often
performed in temporary wooden theaters in earlier times, until Gnaeus Pompeius Magnus, better
known as Pompey the Great (a military and bureaucratic leader), built the first stone theater in Rome.
This theater, known as the Theatre of Pompey, could hold up to 11,000 spectators and was hugely
popular during its high point. The theater was built in 55 B.C.E. and is considered the first permanent
theater built in Rome. Two stone theaters were built after that: the Theater of Balbus and the Theater
of Marcellus, both built in 13 B.C.E. and capable of holding up to

Harry Potter Rushing Into Action
Harry Potter rushing into action in a dangerous and mystifying wizard duel. Lyra Belacqua storming
into the cold and barren arctic on the back of a terrifying polar bear. Tom Sawyer saving the life of
Becky Thatcher as they starve nearly to death. All these characters are strong, confident and demand
our attention. They are the obvious heroes. While it may not come to mind right away, there are two
unconventional characters to add to this list. Michael and Skellig, of David Almond s Skellig , without
a doubt have a spot reserved on the long list of heroes in children s literature. While it is true, this duo
is not seeing in any action packed scenes, nor are they found in desperate crisis, these two bring a
whole new side of heroism to the table. Hero, as defined by the Merriam Webster dictionary is, a
person who is admired for great or brave acts or fine qualities; a person or character who, in the face
of danger and adversity or from a position of weakness, displays courage, bravery or self sacrifice;
courageous and brave (Hero, 2015). In their own ways each of these two saves their other. Michaels
heroism stems from his selflessness that is seen in his every reaction to his ill baby sister and his
compassion and acceptance of Skellig. Equally, Skellig is a hero in his own right. He overcomes his
fear of the outside world to save Michael from his unrealized self deprecation, as well as his sister Joy.
From the very beginning of Skellig we see the broken

There has been always an indication that coffee could be related in preventing cancer risk. Therefore,
many studies were involved to check the accuracy of coffee and its effect on cancer especially prostate

Leptospirosis: It s Causes, Symptoms, Complications,
Diagnosis, Prevention and Treatment.
I. Introduction
Leptospirosis is a bacterial infection affecting both humans and animals. It is acquired through direct
contact with the urine of infected animals or by contact with a urine contaminated environment such
as floodwater, soil, and plants. The bacteria enter the body through broken skins, eyes, nose or mouth.
As of October 26, the Department of Health (DOH) has recorded a total of 2,158 cases including 167
deaths. Leptospirosis cases in Metro Manila have increased by as much as 174 percent since last year.
Leptospirosis cases reached its peak from October 14 to 19, with hospitals reporting up to 350 cases a

During the Egyptian campaign, Napoleon s army suffered from what was probably infectious
jaundice. Infectious jaundice occurred among troops during the American Civil War.It was also
reported among troops at Gallipoli and other battles of World War I, where the sodden conditions of
trench warfare favored infection. Terms used in early 20th century descriptions of leptospirosis
include the pseudo dengue of Java, seven day fever, autumn fever, Akiyama disease, and marsh or
swamp fever. L icterohaemorrhagieae was identified as the causative agent in Pre World War II
outbreaks in Japan, which were characterized by jaundice and a high mortality rate.
In October 2010 British rower Andy Holmes died after contracting Weil s disease.
Causes
Leptospirosis is caused by a spirochaete bacterium called Leptospira spp. that has at least 5 serovars of
importance in the United States and Canada causing disease in dogs (Icterohaemorrhagiae, Canicola,
Pomona, Grippotyphosa, and Bratislava).
There are other (less common) infectious strains. Genetically different leptospira organisms may be
identical serologically and vice versa.

Richard Wright s Writing Style
It is probably a mere accident that I never killed, states Richard Wright during an interview.
(Kinnamon 596) Often times, an alternative people would turn to would be violence in a way to
escape the world they lived in, but one man held so much inspiration over a society that was and still
is shaded by prejudice. What many fail to realize is one can transform the direction of the way society
works simply by using words. Because of Richard Wright s writing style, he depicts the racism and
bigotry set in American society in his novel and writes this story by using examples of his personal
experiences to create an impact for the later generations. Since Richard exited his mother s womb, he
had to undergo bigotry and unseen detestation from white southerners because of his color (Hart 35).
Starting his first day of life on September 4, 1908, Richard Wright overcame several impediments and
later became one of the first famous African American authors. The Wright family lived in Natchez,
Mississippi, and his parents worked, during his toddler years. Nathaniel Wright, Richard s father, was
a sharecropper. He labored for the rich plantation owners, while Richard s mother was a school
teacher. (Shuman 1697)Because of the constant beatings, Wright was obedient to all types of authority
but anxiety and distrust formed in his mind. Richard unintentionally set his grandparents house
Francois 2 on fire, but instead of fearing the very thing that could burn and kill him, he placed

Diagnosing the Change
Managing Organizational Change
Emiliano Delucia
Keller Graduate School of Management
DIAGNOSTIC MODELS
One of the main purposes of diagnostic models is to find a way to identify external and internal factors
that can affect the working conditions of an organization. Many diagnostic models have been
developed along the years to ensure these factors are well identified and the organizations can function
properly following a certain model. The diagnostic model that will be analyzed in this paper is Burke
Litwin.

There are certain changes that can affect the individual needs so the company needs to work towards
meeting the employee s expectations.
9. Employee Motivation: This is one of the key factors to successfully implement a change. Personnel
need to be motivated for the change, and management need to communicate it properly for this to
happen.
IMPLEMENTATION OF THE MODEL PRICIPLES:
SAMSUNG
Samsung is a company that has been very successful in implementing the change they needed. They
followed a step by step approach looking into internal and external factors that could affect it.
Samsung did a great job identifying the external factors by knowing their competitors, the market
requirements, and the global economy. Based on this, internal changes were triggered to achieve their
strategy and goals. The success in the company was a clear outcome of the well managed change
process.
The mission of the company was always to be on the top of the electronic market, so their strategy has
been focused on that since the beginning. Continuously innovating in their product line allowed them
to have new products going to the market very often. Since the company really motivated their
employees, they were able to implement and follow the company mission and strategy. All the factors
explained about Burke Litwin model were well managed by Samsung. That is one of the main reasons
why this model better describes

Gender And Sexual Identity In Shakespeare s Novel,...
Over the course of the summer I read Jeffrey Eugenides novel, Middlesex. The novel depicted the
journey of Cal, the narrator, as he struggled with his gender and sexual identity. I found Eugenides use
of first person narration compelling because it allowed me to feel a greater connection to Cal, the
narrator. Throughout the novel he provided insight on his experiences, while also telling the tale of his
family s immigration to Detroit, Michigan. By relaying stories of Desdemona and Lefty s early
experiences in Smyrna and America I felt as though I gained a deeper understanding of Cal and his
family. However, because he was not present during these events, I felt conflicted over whether or not
he was a trustworthy, authoritative narrator. He simply retold what information he had been fed, thus I
felt he lacked ethos and credibility. Additionally, I was intrigued by the various settings throughout the
novel and felt they added to the overall appeal and intrigue of the plot. In the novel Cal described the
polarization and hatred of two opposing social groups in both Smyrna and Detroit: in Smyrna the
Greeks versus the Turks and in Detroit the blacks versus the whites. This subtle juxtaposition was
alluring and allowed for Eugenides to develop underlying conflicts different than the conflicts that Cal
and his family struggled with. I interpreted this foil as a means by which Eugenides added his own
social commentary to the novel, as he illustrated that regardless of the

the Cardiovascular System. The mainly common reason of blue baby syndrome is congenital heart
defect that is present at birth. The heart is composed of two sides, the right side and the left side. Each
side of the heart has two chambers, a superior chamber for receiving blood also known as the atrium

up the four chambers of the heart. The left ventricle must produce a force adequate to push blood

Research Paper On Igor Stravinsky
Stravinsky was born in Russia in 1882. His music influences came mainly from his father who was a
famous operatic baritone and a bibliophile. Igor Stravinsky himself never went to the conservatorium
and his first composition lessons were with Vladimir Rimsky Korsakov. Consequently, Stravinsky
developed his own idiosyncratic taste in music. During his early and middle compositional years,
Serge Diaghilev arranged for Stravinsky s pieces such as the Rite of Spring to be premiĆØred and
performed in Paris (Druskin and Cooper, 1983). That was the point in time where Stravinsky started to
be thought of as a nationalist composer because in Paris he sounded very exotic (Walsh, 2017).
However, his style did not remain static throughout his life. During

  • 2. The Most Important Aspects Of My Life Education is and has always been one of the most important aspects of my life. Teachers are some of the most disciplined people on the face of the earth because they are the ones that are responsible for educating future generations. They shape the lives of students by passing on values and beliefs, passion, and a better understanding of their subject matter. In the elementary grades, students are often asked, What would you like to be when you grow up? I can remember a time in fourth grade when most of my classmates had responses like astronaut, rapper, and professional athlete, but our teacher asked, What career could you choose that would make a difference? Most answers revolved around doctor, nurse, lawyer, and president, but I raised my hand and responded with teacher. My teacher gave me a look that made me feel that I was in trouble. She then asked me to explain why I said teacher and I told her that I had really good teachers that made me realize that there are individuals that have to educate the doctors, lawyers, and professional athletes and I wanted to be able to be one of those teachers because I would be able to make a difference. She told me that I was headed in the right direction and from then on I knew I was destined to be a teacher. Whitney Houston famously sang, I believe the children are our future. Teach them well and let them lead the way. Show them all the beauty they possess inside. Give them a sense of pride. Let the children s laughter remind ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

During courtship and in other instances, men also blushed at the sight of a woman. When one felt so strongly about someone else, blushing was a common practice. Although this is not to say that it was not a cause for embarrassment especially for men who at the time were so masculinized that it was seen as a taboo. However, Austen does depict men such as Captain Wentworth as creatures who were not shy about expressing themselves and showing how they felt through blushing (Gay 19). She is described as a snow queen who gave a chill wherever she went. Just like her sister, Anne, she is not married. Her father, Walter Elliot had arranged for her to marry her cousin, William but he instead got married to a wealthy heiress. This was a common practice in the 1800s and most times, people from noble or classy backgrounds were promised to their cousins because they were seen as worthy and deserving of their hand in marriage. When Gay talks about Anne in here article, she wants to demonstrate the romance that existed at the time. However, she also intends to contrast this with a lack of choice and passion that was synonymous with the time. Girls are particularly vulnerable to the practice of marrying into the family and enduring a loveless marriage while at the same time living a miserable life. Although some were comfortable with it, like Elizabeth, others were not. They wished to have the freedom of choice to be courted by anyone they wanted and get married to a person of their choosing. Romance did exist even for such people. However, it was unnatural and felt forced or coerced by societal and family ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In both Like Water for Chocolate and The House of Bernarda Alba rebellion against oppression is a strong theme, with both Tita and Adela struggling to break free of their mother s authoritarianism. However, it is important to realise that with both characters, the authors are using them to symbolise their own journeys. First, the colony in North America would have smaller territories with Mexico separated and Russia retaining Alaska. The Russians would not sell any territories of theirs to the enemy, which is the British empire. Therefore, Alaska would be owned by Russia. One of Britain s allies was Spain so, it is highly plausible that Florida, California, Texas would all be owned by Spanish. Second, there would be less population as there won t be mass emigration. All of the categories have advantages and disadvantages. In the following paragraphs I will list out the advantage and disadvantages of the categories mentioned above. First, let us start with aggregate data. Aggregate data can be used to detect patterns or similarities from numerous groups of patients. This data helps healthcare organizations and healthcare providers develop a plan of care or prevention of illnesses and a better understanding of how to properly manage a disease process. With the use of aggregate data, vital signs and other lab work can be tracked on a daily basis and if there is a need for a different dose or type of medication, it can be caught early and corrected. A disadvantage of aggregate data would be that there is underlying factors that is not disclosed and because of the underlying factors, the data gathered is not beneficial when it comes to treating the patient. Therefore, the patient can suffer from a specific event that was not treated properly. Next, let us discuss comparative data. Comparative data can be defined as data that can be used for ... • 10. Neuroscience Of The Nervous System Vigen Karchyan Neuroscience Neuroscience, commonly referred to as Neural Science, is the study of the way the nervous system develops, how it is structured and the functions of it. Scientists put emphasis on the brain and the impact it has on behavior and cognitive functions. These scientists approach a closer look on the reactions the nervous system has when humans have neurological, psychiatric and neurodevelopmental disorders. The entire concept of neuroscience is addressed as a subdivision of biology. It is applied to chemistry, cognitive science, engineering, mathematics, linguistics and more. Scientists say that neuroscience is identical as neurobiology but there is a difference between the two conceptions. Neurobiology focuses mainly on the biology of the nervous system and neuroscience emphasizes on any portion of the nervous system. Neuroscientists have various fields of study that include cellular, functional, computational and medical aspects of the nervous system. The history of neuroscience dates back and the Ancient Egyptians believed that intelligence rooted from the heart. Throughout the process of mummification, they detached the brain but left the heart inside of the body. Herodotus, a Greek historian that lived up until 425BC, claimed the most perfect practice is to extract as much of the brain as possible with an iron hook, and what the hook cannot reach is mixed with drugs. Although Dorian s decay was hard to observe because his beauty remained intact and thus created an innocent image of him, the portrait recorded his inner change by altering his appearances, as we observe for the first time in the novel the touch of cruelty round the warped lips in the painting after the death of Sybil Vane. The painting provided Dorian a double life, as remarked in Into the Demon Universe: A Literary Exploration of Oscar Wilde: The picture of his soul was locked safely away in a dark room while the innocent face he presented to respectable society was only a mask. But in order to make dreams come into reality, it takes an awful lot of determination, dedication, self discipline, and effort. This quote by Jesse Owens shows that nothing is impossible. Jesse Owens bravery and courage to go to the 1936 Berlin Olympics led to less racial discrimination in sports, more blacks competing in athletics, and to more respect for black people. Back in this time, there weren t many black people competing in sports. This was because racial tension in America was at a high and many black people didn t want to deal with it. But, then came Jesse Owens. He didn t come from a fortunate family so he had to work for everything that he got. He went to school through college and made it to the Olympics despite racism, all due to his determination, dedication, self discipline, and effort. Jesse Owens was born on September 12, 1913 in Oakville, AL. Jesse was born into poverty and had a very rough childhood. Being the grandson of former slaves and the son of a sharecropper, he was often working on the family farm whenever he could, but he was unable to work most of the time because he ... But once Jesse Owens won four Gold Medals at the 1936 Berlin Olympics, white people in America had a new found respect for blacks. Some white athletes shunned their black teammates. (Levin, 2016) This shows that some of the white American athletes didn t approve of Jesse Owens before the races. • 19. Ventricular Tachycardia Lab Ventricular Tachycardia An dysrhythmia of the heart is an irregular heartbeat rhythm. Ventricular tachycardia is an dysrhythmia in which the lower chambers of the heart, the ventricles, beat unusually fast. The heart rate is measured with an electrocardiogram, or ECG. This is a machine that measures the electrical impulses from the patient s heart. This is displayed on a monitor or ECG graph paper. The boxes on the graph paper measure time. Five small boxes are equal to one large box. The large box represents two tenths of a second. The atrial contraction is represented by the P wave. This is an upward, or positive wave of the line on the graph. The ventricular contraction is displayed by the QRS complex. The QRS ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The SA node is the primary pacemaker of the heart. It starts the heartbeat by spontaneously contracting, causing the rest of the heart to contract in a wave. The wave spreads through the atria before reaching the atrioventricular node, or AV node, located just above the right ventricle. The AV node focuses the wave into the ventricles, contracting the ventricles. Should the SA node fail, the AV node can take over as the primary pacemaker at a rate of forty to sixty beats per minute. Should both the SA node and the AV node fail, there is a tertiary pacemaker, the perkinje fibers. Perkinje fibers are located near the bottom of the ventricles and can stimulate contraction at a rate of twenty to forty beats per minute. If the perkinje fibers or the AV node becomes irritated, they can begin contraction of the ventricles at speeds well above normal. Other causes of ventricular tachycardia include heart disease and medications. When the ventricles are contracting at a rate greater than one hundred beats per minute, the heart becomes inefficient. Blood cannot properly fill the ventricular chambers before it is forced out. This decreases the amount of oxygenated blood circulating through the body. The lack of oxygen in the body causes the heart to attempt to pump more blood, forcing the ventricles to work even harder. Should the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 20. Natural Selection Lab Report The sixth lab I completed in Biology 101 taught me how autotrophs (self feeders) and heterotrophs (other feeders) make organic food molecules by using photosynthesis. Photosynthesis uses the energy from the sun and it is captured and stored in the chemical bonds of organic molecules. The sunlight consists of different wavelengths of light. In plant chloroplasts, they have different pigments that capture different wavelengths of light. Light capturing pigments in green plants are called chlorophylls and these absorb all the colors of light except green, which is mostly reflected. To separate molecules from each other according to their solubility in a particular solvent is done by the process of chromatography. This basically means that polar ... Why would you change the menu to healthier food when they are reason why you should not. It is a bad choice to change the school lunch because the students might not eat the food the type of food you are switching it to. For example, students will not eat the food if you do decide to change it. They might not eat the food because they might not like it. They might not like the taste of the certain food you are feeding them. Not eating the food can also led them to hate eating healthy food everyday. The reason for that is they eat it everywhere they go including school, at home, and anywhere else they go. The students also worry about they next day everyday. The students can worry about it throughout the school day and ask themself if they are going to get something different for once. When the students do not eat they can be consequences for it. In this essay Didion recreates the feeling one gets when one visits a place from the past or while reminiscing about fond memories. This memory is marked by the reflective thought about the ability to be able to pass this same sense on to another. Didion s On Going Home is like a flood of warm memories leaving you with a single reflective thought. • 24. History Of Roman And Greek Culture It is the constant aim of the management to prevent the use of a single word, expression, or situation that will offend the intelligent, refined and cultured classes (Stein 23). This is the motto of Mr. Chase s Original Idea: Polite Vaudeville, a then unheard of yet soon widely popular subcategory of vaudeville theater in the early 1900s until the 1930s. In many places and in many time periods in the world, it is found that theater is not only considered prominent in culture but is often integral. This can be seen especially in ancient Roman and Greek culture, as the combination of theater, music, and dance were significant. Rome has been a place of passionate, bustling life for more than 2,000 years. This trend started when the huge city was founded in 753 B.C.E. Theater has been an essential part of Roman culture since this time, and expressive plays and musicals were performed regularly. Roman plays were often performed in temporary wooden theaters in earlier times, until Gnaeus Pompeius Magnus, better known as Pompey the Great (a military and bureaucratic leader), built the first stone theater in Rome. This theater, known as the Theatre of Pompey, could hold up to 11,000 spectators and was hugely popular during its high point. The theater was built in 55 B.C.E. and is considered the first permanent theater built in Rome. • 28. Richard Wright s Writing Style It is probably a mere accident that I never killed, states Richard Wright during an interview. (Kinnamon 596) Often times, an alternative people would turn to would be violence in a way to escape the world they lived in, but one man held so much inspiration over a society that was and still is shaded by prejudice. What many fail to realize is one can transform the direction of the way society works simply by using words. Because of Richard Wright s writing style, he depicts the racism and bigotry set in American society in his novel and writes this story by using examples of his personal experiences to create an impact for the later generations. Since Richard exited his mother s womb, he had to undergo bigotry and unseen detestation from white southerners because of his color (Hart 35). Starting his first day of life on September 4, 1908, Richard Wright overcame several impediments and later became one of the first famous African American authors. The Wright family lived in Natchez, Mississippi, and his parents worked, during his toddler years. Nathaniel Wright, Richard s father, was a sharecropper. He labored for the rich plantation owners, while Richard s mother was a school teacher. (Shuman 1697)Because of the constant beatings, Wright was obedient to all types of authority but anxiety and distrust formed in his mind. The novel depicted the journey of Cal, the narrator, as he struggled with his gender and sexual identity. I found Eugenides use of first person narration compelling because it allowed me to feel a greater connection to Cal, the narrator. Throughout the novel he provided insight on his experiences, while also telling the tale of his family s immigration to Detroit, Michigan. By relaying stories of Desdemona and Lefty s early experiences in Smyrna and America I felt as though I gained a deeper understanding of Cal and his family. However, because he was not present during these events, I felt conflicted over whether or not he was a trustworthy, authoritative narrator. He simply retold what information he had been fed, thus I felt he lacked ethos and credibility. Additionally, I was intrigued by the various settings throughout the novel and felt they added to the overall appeal and intrigue of the plot. In the novel Cal described the polarization and hatred of two opposing social groups in both Smyrna and Detroit: in Smyrna the Greeks versus the Turks and in Detroit the blacks versus the whites. This subtle juxtaposition was alluring and allowed for Eugenides to develop underlying conflicts different than the conflicts that Cal and his family struggled with. I interpreted this foil as a means by which Eugenides added his own social commentary to the novel, as he illustrated that regardless of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
