Spinal Cord Stimulation Research Paper
Spinal Cord Stimulation Trial Information
WHAT IS A SPINAL CORD STIMULATION TRIAL?
A spinal cord stimulation trial is a test to see whether a spinal cord stimulator reduces your pain. A
spinal cord stimulator is a small device that is attached to your back or inserted (implanted) in your
back. The stimulator has small wires (leads) that connect it to your spinal cord. The stimulator sends
electrical pulses through the leads to the spinal cord. This can relieve pain. Your health care provider
may suggest a spinal cord stimulation trial if other treatments for chronic pain have not worked for
you. Spinal cord stimulation may be used to manage pain that is caused by:
Coronary artery disease.
Failed back surgery.
Phantom limb sensation. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Make sure to write down the following information so that you can share this information with your
health care provider:
○ Your responses to the stimulator, as told by your health care provider.
○ Your pain level throughout the day.
○ The amount and kind of pain medicine that you take.
Take over the counter and prescription medicines only as told by your health care provider.
Do not take baths, swim, or use a hot tub until your health care provider approves.
Tell all health care providers who care for you that you have a spinal cord stimulator. This is important
information that could affect the medical treatment that you receive.
Keep all follow up visits as told by your health care provider. This is important.
WHEN SHOULD I SEEK MEDICAL CARE?
Seek medical care if:
You have more redness, swelling, or pain around your incision.
You have more fluid or blood coming from your incision.
Your incision feels warm to the touch.
You have pus or a bad smell coming from your incision.
The bandage (dressing) that covers your incision comes

The Simpsons Tuesdays With Morrie
The writers both have incorporated ideas from the novel Tuesdays with Morrie in the shows. In the
Simpsons Homers dad Abie has become sort of like Morrie, he tells a writer his stories who then
creates articles and posts them in the newspaper. Just like Morrie many have taken a liking to his
experiences. In The Middle Mike s father in law has read Tuesdays with Morrie and has been inspired
by the book. He decides that he wants to tell Mike his stories, and have his own Tuesday sessions. I
know they are referencing the novel because in the Simpsons the episode is called Thursdays with
Abie, and the writer wants to make a book of Abies stories, after killing him. It s sort of the same idea
as the novel, but they have added their own humorous

Pan s Labyrinth
The founder of psychoanalysis, Sigmund Freud, developed a wide variety of psychoanalytic theories
that are often used to analyze a diverse body of literary and artistic works. An example being, the
Family Romance theory. It is an abnormal state of mind a child enters during the pre pubescent stage.
It consists of the child fantasizing that they are not the biological son or daughter of their parents. This
occurs when a parent fails to reciprocate affection to their child; consequently, urging them to seek
retaliation through imaginary means. The Family Romance theory explains the cultural phenomenon
behind children detaching themselves from their parents in order to gain independence. It is a
psychological concept featured within the family dynamic of Guillermo del Toro s 2006 film Pan s
Labyrinth . Pan s Labyrinth depicts the aftermath of the Spanish Civil War through the eyes of
Ophelia, an innocent child, and the magical realm she comes across in the woods. In the film, it is

Yet, Ofelia continues to love her mother unconditionally. However, Carmen s neglectfulness, similarly
to the child in Freud Family Romances, has caused Ofelia to criticize her mother for disregarding her.
As a result, Ofelia decides to detach herself from her mother. It is a task that each adolescent must do
in order to become an independent being. The fantasies and magical beings Ofelia created allowed her
to mature into an adult. In doing so, Ofelia is also able to save the life of her younger brother after
being relinquished from her mother s parental rule. Ofelia is able to become her own person because
of the many circumstances she was involved in throughout the film. Had Ofelia not been neglected by
her mother throughout the course of her pregnancy, Ofelia would not have achieved independence as

The Effect Of Hho On An Internal Combustion Engine
What is the effect of HHO on an internal combustion engine
Introduction [200 words]
What is an internal combustion engine
Combustion, also known as rapid burning, is the basic chemical process of releasing energy from any
fuel and air mixture. In an internal combustion engine, the ignition and combustion of the fuel occurs
within each cylinder of the engine block. The engine then partially converts the energy from the
combustion to push the piston down. The engine consists of a fixed cylinder and a moving piston
(Springfield.mntm.org, 2017). The expanding combustion gases push the piston, which in turn rotates
the crankshaft. Ultimately, through a system of gears in the powertrain, this motion drives the vehicle
s wheels ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These benefits include; environmental, money saving, longer lasting engines etc. HHO eliminates
harmful exhaust emissions that pollute the environment, meanwhile not contributing to global
warming (Drive60mpg.com, 2017). Within the experiments that I conducted, I discovered that
supplying HHO to an engine had created many new and different advantages, which provide better
outcomes.
How does it work? (the theory) [250 words]
How do the chemicals react?
When the HHO is fed into the air intake, then into a cylinder, the hydrogen explosion is so rapid, that
it achieves total combustion upwards of three times faster than a gasoline based explosion (Saisantosh
et al., 2017). This subsequently ignites the gasoline from all directions (For example, putting fuel on a
fire), instead of just a spark in one end of the combustion cylinder. Hydrogen behaves like this because
it has a very wide flammability range from 4% to 75% in air (Duncan, 2017) . Due to this there is a
release of energy in a short period of time, causing the mixture to get hot and greatly expand in
volume (Saisantosh et al., 2017). If the fuel is not fully burnt in that short amount of time then it just
goes out the exhaust and is lost. It is also best to ignite all of the gasoline when it is under maximum
compression in a combustion cylinder to get the maximum amount of energy out of it (this is a small
time window). Once the piston starts going down, the energy transfer from the explosion to the

Analytical Failure Of Iraq During Persian Gulf War
Analytical Failure of Iraq in Persian Gulf War Affiliation Student s Name Introduction Failures
analysis is the process of gathering data and information in order to find the cause of failure especially
when the goal had been set. Analytical failure of war, on the other hand, is failures by decision making
bodies to make appropriate decision which will lead to victory. This failures occurs when military and
political leaders come up with war strategies which when implemented leads to failures or losses. War
analytical failures are always attributed to lack of sufficient intelligence information about the
opponents, failure to predict possible long term consequences, having misleading information, poor
leadership and overreliance on weapons without knowing their weakness. In contrast, however,
military disaster can befall some territories, irrespective well informed their generals are, because of
weakness in their abilities. Super powerful countries may also face the same problem because their
leaders may misperceive on coming warnings and threats or make poor calculations in the way they
respond to possible catastrophic dangers1. Strategic intelligence is essential in making the most
appropriate decisions when it comes to defense policies. There should be proper gathering, analysis
and appreciations of pertinent and factual data. In most intelligence failures, problems always starts
with collection of data from the ground by professionals who then analyses

nineteenth century during the attractive booming economy. Whereas, the Gilded Age struck the people
after the Civil War and the revolution of the railways brought with it, a spur of industrialization. The
markets for manufactured goods were stimulated, more commerce was beckoned with foreign and
domestic investors, and even the process of raw materials going to the factories was sped. Although
sounding like a luxurious period for all, the main beneficiaries became know as the robber barons as
they manipulated the public and business to their needs, established the visible social classes, and used

Agricultural Revolution Essay
Welcome to the age of an agricultural revolution as everyday biotechnology continues to bring
innovation to human s most basic needs food. Food is essential to any living organism, providing
energy for our production and nutrients for our protection. Without this fundamental element, life
cannot exist. Our lack to produce our own energy, like plants, causes us to become dependent on
others for survival. Humans existence is attributed only to the million years of evolution our food
source underwent to sustain our survival. Changing the primary nature of our food source, whether it
is plant or animal, directs mankind in a dangerous future if our food dependency is permanently
hampered. Welcome to the age of an agricultural devolution ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

With only a 20 year history, genetic engineering is only a young science with much uncertainly
relativity compared to other fields. Much of the elements bioengineering studies and experiments, the
DNA genome and sequence, are still unknown to the scientific community. Changes in genes greatly
transform the condition, structure, and essence of an organism, giving us an entirely different and
unnatural creation. Even when the physical effects are barely noticeable or deemed safe and ethical,
these modified creations effects on the environment are impossible to predict and will only emerge
when the damage done becomes evident to the human population. Though a large unknown looms
over modifying genes, bioengineering industries insist upon dismissing the scare over genetic foods
with the vast potential miracle foods can benefit upon human society.
Most of the promises made by these corporations are promises of luxury, not necessity, and carry an
inherently and dangerous risk. As science continues to understand further the basic element of life,
DNA, the danger involved genetically modifying organisms becomes apparent. The beneficial
potential genetic engineering brings are attractive, but paradoxically it also brings disastrous potential
at a greater degree. The qualities brought forth by these GM foods are not necessary for our survival
and only brings forth dangerous consequences to our health, environment, and economy. In order to

THE COMPANY ACT 2006 Provisions such as limited liability on part of auditors, increased interest
for shareholders, etc. are part of the Companies Act of 2006 in the UK. This Act includes limited
liability by contract with regard to such an amount which is deemed reasonable and fair in all
circumstances (Coffee, 2007). In the last few years, changes have been brought in terms of the legal
regime in the UK s governance system. For instance, since 1989, firms in the UK have been able to
incorporate, in that the firms can form limited liability partnerships, wherein they can protect all the
partners from any kind of personal bankruptcy unless the partners were responsible personally in any
kind of faulty opinion in terms of audit. Nonetheless, firms in the UK have continued to choose
abandoning the joint responsibility option for lucrative limited liability regime (Hicks, 2008). The
firms in the UK have used the case of Arthur Anderson LLP to modify and reform joint and several
liability based on two arguments and these were collapse of a major firm under the pressure of
aforementioned liability may leave the market concentrated; and liability risk can be considered as a
barrier in terms of smaller firms who attempt to enter a concentrated market. Within the context of
limited liability, there are more unique kinds of liabilities which are deemed to be missing from the

Significance Of The Reconstruction Era
As a nation, America has gone through many things including war and political changes. People in the
United States went through much throughout history. The people that once lead this country had
different intentions and targets. One moment in history that was very important and very influential
today is the Reconstruction Era. The Reconstruction Era was a time period that contains many
accomplishments, failures, leaders, and aims. There were many events in this era which made people
call it a failure and a success. In the year of 1865, right after the Civil War, Reconstruction began. The
Reconstruction Era was known as the time of repair after the civil war. At that time, the leader of the
nation was Abraham Lincoln. Lincoln wanted the south to join the Union so he freed the African
Americans. When looking at the Reconstruction Era, there are many events that make up this era such
as the reconstruction amendments, the freedman s bureau, and the Ku Klux Klan. During the
Reconstruction Era, congress passed three amendments which were the 13th, 14th, and 15th
amendments. The 13th abolished slavery, the 14th granted the African American males citizenship,
and the 15th gave the African Americans the right to vote. According to the thirteenth Amendment
Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except punishment for crime whereof the party shall have
been duty convicted, shall exist within the United States. This states that slavery and being forced to

The Technology Revolution Of The 21st Century
Living in the 21st Century most of us, if not all, have been lucky enough to witness the technology
revolution that is occurring at an exponential rate. Phones are getting lighter, computers are getting
faster and the Internet has become more accessible than ever. One would think that having all this
technology and information around us; it should be quite easy launching a healthcare site for the use
of millions. That is where you would be wrong. The US Government landed themselves into a similar
predicament when they underestimated the complexity behind producing healthcare.gov, a site created
by the Obama Care administration in hopes to help millions of people obtain health insurance.
Healthcare.gov is a federal site that facilitates purchase of private health insurance for consumers who
reside in the states. The site was launched October 1st, 2013 and was instantly met with many
technical issues. So much so that even Obama himself expressed his frustration as 98% of the first 20
million people who accessed the site had issues ranging of website outages and technical
malfunctions. The Centers for Medicare Medicaid Services (CMS) was able to later perform
corrective actions and roll out health plans for millions of Americans across the United States, but not
before surpassing its budget by nearly 1.6 billion dollars. Needles to say the execution around
Healthcare.Gov was handled poorly and raised concerns regarding the effectiveness of the CMS
management. In this report

The Use Of Macrophage Auns Mediated Photothermal Therapy
In addition, it was shown that macrophages can mediate the delivery of gold shell NPs into
multicellular human glioma spheroids 76. In the report, gold shell NPs are composed of a silica core
coated with a thin layer of gold which greatly absorbs near infrared light to generate local heat around
NPs. Gold nanoshells (AuNS) NPs were loaded in macrophages via phagocytosis, and it is interesting
to observe no apparent toxicity of macrophages after their uptake of nanoparticles 77. When co
incubated with human glioma spheroids, nanoparticle laden macrophages can migrate and filtrate in
the tumor as usual 78. Furthermore, two photon fluorescence microscopy of glioma spheroids showed
that nanoparticle laden macrophages can accumulate in necrotic sites. When irradiated with 810 nm
laser light, the growth of glioma spheroid dramatically decreased compared with the control without
of nanoparticle loading. The efficacy of macrophage AuNS mediated photothermal therapy (PTT) on
glioma spheroids was also tested, and the growth of spheroids was dramatically suppressed. The same
group continued to examine the therapeutic efficacy of macrophage mediated delivery of AuNS
nanoparticles in rat glioma tumor model 79. C6 rat glioma cells were directly injected into brain to
generate brain tumor, following the injection of macrophage AuNS delivery system. After NIR laser
irradiation, it was observed that the tissue irradiated by laser was damaged, suggesting the therapeutic
effect of AuNS.

Tuesdays With Morrie Analysis
In the book, Tuesdays with Morrie the readers follow the lives and relationship of Morrie Schwartz
and Mitch Albom. Morrie was a professor in Brandeis University where Mitch attended. The story
goes on as to how they lose touch over the years and eventually find each other again and build a
strong relationship. This friendship begins when Mitch finds out Morrie is sick and his health is
slowly deteriorating. Over the weeks, the two new found friend will hold conversations about love,
life and family. There are many comparisons that can be made between the stories that Mitch and
Morrie have conversations about weekly and the Psychosocial theories Erik Erickson had. These
comparisons can be seen in Mitch, during one of the conversations he held with Morrie they speak
about life as a young adult. As Erickson describes this stage as that of being intimacy vs isolation, a
period in life where adults seek love and companionship and begin to settle down and start a family.
This is evident as Mitch describes his life as a young adult he can relate with the feelings of isolation.
Albom states the world, I discovered was not all that interested (p.14). This is when Mitch realizes
that his life has changed as to what it was when he was in college. He has lost touch with his old
friend and now he has a variety of responsibilities. His dreams of being a famous musician have
ended. He has discovered after many years that he must move on and he decides to return to school
and eventually gets a good job. He describes meeting his soon to be wife as he associates this time
with Erickson theory of seeking intimacy and a satisfying relationship. Albom seeks companionship
and talks to his new wife about starting a family but as he describes that day never came (p.17).
Another meeting with Morrie came with a different topic and tone. Mitch recalls learning about
Morrie s family and how important it is to keep a good close relationship with them. During this
period, Mitch, can relate to the Middle age adult theory, it is a time to develop care. This is a period
where career and work are the most important things along with family. It is also a period when people
can take a greater responsibility and control over their lives and

The Island Of Dr. Moreau Analysis
People look to religion for answers. Why was I put on this Earth and for what purpose? The beast
people are asking the same question. Dr. Moreau answers their calls. He created the creatures by
performing vivisection and science experimentations. They worship him. Dr. Moreau is a godly figure
to the creatures. Moreau s godly figuratism on the island is similar to a religion. In the novel The
Island of Dr. Moreau by H.G. Wells, the creatures look to Dr. Moreau as their creator and their God by
singing about Moreau, their fear of his power, and where the story takes place. Moreau brainwashes
the animals to strip them of their animalistic ways by embedding the rules of the island in their chant.
This chant is similar to the bible God s disciples wrote in the form of verses to show examples of how
religious people should live their lives if they want to live on with God in eternity and go to Heaven.
Not to go on all Fours; that is the Law. Are we not Men? Not to suck up drink; that is the Law. Are we

There isn t anybody there that can take the power away from him. Even when Moreau dies, his

C. H. Mason Holiness Movement
C.H. Mason and the Church Of God in Christ Although there were many Pentecostal churches that
arose from the Holiness movement in the latter part of the Nineteenth century few are as unique and
successful as the Church of God in Christ (C.O.G.I.C.). The church arose as a predominantly Black
church in the Jim Crow era south and yet it was interracial and even ordained White ministers. These
are just a few of the distinctive traits of what would become the largest Pentecostal church in America.

The church held to the Holiness emphasis on holiness in life as proof of entire sanctification,
subsequent to justification, and evidence of the Spirit by speaking in tongues. They remained
Trinitarian after the oneness controversy spread across other Pentecostal camps. Repentance is highly
stressed as a proof of salvation. Divine healing is believed as a normal in the new Spirit filled life. One
of the remainders of Calvinism is the absolute necessity of holiness before salvation. All of the other
normal Protestant sacraments of the church are also adhered. It did and continues to utilize a very
effective Episcopalian form of church government that allowed such monstrous growths throughout
the years despite of numerous divisions. One particular of the church and Mason was its pacifist
stance. Mason was once jailed after forbidding members to participate in World War I; he was released
the next day after a storm blew the roof of the jail. The pacifist view was so serious that the FBI kept a
file on Mason. The pride of the church was its unrelenting stance on racial unity during some of
America s darkest days. Mason once said The church is like the eye... it has a little white and a little
black without both it can t see. This spirit has clearly carried the denomination throughout the years!

Emoji And Semiotics
Emoji and Semiotics
On the other hand, to further comprehend the reasons behind the continuous usage of emojis, we have
to understand that according to Chandler, signs and symbols may take several forms such as words,

Renaissance Humanism In The Italian Renaissance
The Italian Renaissance describes the collation of a distinct change in Italian social, political, cultural,
and religious life.
Thesis: Although Italy, the birthplace of Renaissance humanism did not undergo the Protestant
Reformation, through its emphases on the ability of mankind and the necessity to translate, read, and
decipher original texts, Renaissance humanism played a major role in paving the way for the
Protestant Reformation in other European countries.
II. Historical Background
After the fall of the Western Roman Empire in 476 CE and the rise of Charlemagne s Holy Roman
Empire in 800, the Catholic Church dominated the sociopolitical scene in Europe for nearly a
millennium. Often referred to as the Middle Ages, Medieval Ages, or even the Dark Ages, many
authors, such as Jacob Burckhardt, argue that complete cultural stagnation characterizes this time of
European history. Despite this viewpoint however, culture existed during the Middle Ages through
ecclesiastical culture. The synonymousness of morality with Christian morality, of time with religious
holidays, and of literacy with the reading of religious texts demonstrates this culture dominated by the
Church. However, this unprecedented ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Black Madonna Of Czestochowa Research Paper
On July 23rd, 2016 my mother and I took a trip to Doylestown, Pa to visit the National Shrine of Our
Lady of Czetochowa. When we arrived at the shrine we were in awe at how much ground there was to
the shrine and how beautiful the shrine was. Each year millions of people visit the shrine from
countries all around the world. It s amazing how this polish shrine attracts so many people of faith
from all over. In 1951 a priest in the Pauline Order from Poland named Father Michael M. Zambrzuski
came to America. He was missionary traveling at many Polish parishes in Canada and the United
States. However, during this time he saw a need for something that would be faith enriching and

As you walk up the grand staircase of the Shrine s Main Church, you come to the tallest and heaviest
doors you may have ever seen. As you step inside you enter a now serene and quiet holy place. Once
you open the second set of doors you enter a huge chapel with a magnificent altar. Above that altar
you see a copy of the Our Lady of Czestochowa painting that was blessed by Pope John XXIII on
February 10th,1962. Also, as you travel to below the shrine church you ll find another copy of the
Black Madonna. However, this time it is signed and blessed by Pope John Paul II on August 2,1980.
In addition, there are 4 other chapels in the lower level of the shrine church including, Chapel of Mary
of Nazareth, Chapel of Divine Mercy, Chapel of Our Lady of Guadalupe, and Chapel of St.Paul, First
Hermit. Behind the Main Church you can find the serene St. Anne s Chapel. Outside, you can find the
Rosary Garden and the cemetery. In the cemetery there is a 45 foot cross that is tribute to the victims
of 9/11. For those who seek a even more spiritual enriched experience there is the Ava Maria Retreat
House. Also, there is a visitor center that includes a cafeteria, exhibition hall, religious articles center,

How Does Henry Present Fear In The Red Badge Of Courage
Fear versus Glory
Henry is young man who decided to enlist in the union army. Henry is romantic, but he also can be
realistic which leads to an internal dilemma. Henry s realistic reasonable side disagrees with his
optimistic romantic side, and he begins to wonder why he ever enlisted. Like most people his age
Henry is very ambitious, he only thought of the rewards and not the consequences. During the first six
chapters of the red badge of courage henry is having an internal battle between his desire for glory and
the fear of battle.
Henry did not truly realize what he was getting into until he had some time to think about it. During
the time that the regiment was in camp Henry had plenty of time to think about what he was doing and
why he was doing it, and during this time of isolated thinking the fear of war consumed him to a point
that he wished that he would get killed in the first battle. The way he viewed the war took a dramatic
change; he no longer thought of honor and glory but rather the fear of the battlefield and how he
would fair in it. These thoughts first come to him when rumors spread about a fight the next day: He
recalled his visions of broken bladed glory, but in the shadow of the impending tumult he suspected ...

In the first chapter of The Red Badge of Courage Henry recalls why he enlisted. He recalls, He had, of
course, dreamed of battles all his life of vague and bloody conflicts that had thrilled him with their
sweep and fire (Crane 2). Henry is influenced by the many stories of honor and glory in the history
books, but those stories fail to show all of the death and darkness that precedes the victory. As Henrys
character develops he realizes he is not special, and feels isolated from his comrades because they
seem to be confident while he is full of fear. However, when He enlisted he had a romantic view of
war that was painted by the tales of honor and glory from the history

The Role Of Parents Sport Socialization Of Youth
Research Paper:
The Role of Parents in Sport Socialization of Youth
Lucas Eckert
PSE4UO
Introduction Socialization is the process in which an individual becomes a member of society. Parents
are the most significant agent in the socialization of their children. They have a tremendous influence
on the type of people their children grow up to be. They pass on their beliefs and values to their
children and influence their child s personality and morals. In sports, there is also a process of
socialization, in which the individual becomes a part of the athletic community. In this process,
parents also posses significant influence over their children (Quinton, 2012). They decide whether or
not their children play sports, which sports their children may play, and they can greatly affect their
child s enjoyment and performance in the sport. This influence can either lead to positive or negative
effects on the children s experience with sport. This depends on the level of involvement and the
nature of that involvement (Shwarzlose, 2013). The purpose of this paper is to discuss the ways by
which parents influence their child s process of socialization in sport, and identify the positive and
negative effects associated with the different methods. This paper will also provide several case
studies of professional athletes and evaluate the parents involvement in the athletes career.
Pressure to Participate The most basic form of influence the parent possesses over the

Science Has Proven For A Person s Mind
Intent is basically a subjective element, that is, the operation of a person s mind. However, since we
cannot x ray a person s mind to determine what he is thinking, you may infer a person s intent by his
acts or words or both. The model jury instruction above reveals humans obsession with developing
technology to assist with reading someone s mind. Thanks to technological advancements, science has
proven that x rays do not provide a window to someone s soul. Courts are continuously confronted
with technology that presents itself as capable of mind reading: first with phrenology, then with the
polygraph, and most recently, functional neuroimaging or functional magnetic resonance imaging
(fMRI).

There are three sides to every story: your side, my side, and the truth. And no one is lying. Memories
shared serve each differently.
Humans obsession with distinguishing a truth from a lie has lead to the creation of techniques and
technologies that purportedly assist in this process. Prior to the development of the polygraph, the
most well known lie detector, and functional magnetic resonance image scanning, humans have relied
their evolutionary abilities or mathematical equations to decipher truth from fiction.
Humans have won the proverbial evolution jackpot. Besides our ambidextrous thumbs, the next most
advantageous mutation is the size of our prefrontal cortex in our brains, which has grown at a faster
rate than other species. Our prefrontal cortex makes us unique separates us from our brethren in the
animal kingdom. It allows us to engage in a broad range of behaviors known as executive function.
The behaviors problem solving; behavioral adjustments in response to stimuli, planning; and
behavioral inhibition allow us to be social creatures and integrate into society. The ability to deceive
predates the evolution of language. The evolutionary growth of the brain s prefrontal cortex coupled
with the advent of language led to an efflorescence of [deception] complexity. The executive function

Vincent Van Gogh And His Life
In essence of this twenty first (21st) Century, the life of Vincent Van Gogh; has become more of a
legend with a substantial figure among painters and western art in the society today. Vincent Van Gogh
is said to be a person with persevering characteristics due to all the failures he encountered in his
career path from being a minister like his father to dealing in arts like his uncle (Blumer,2002) before
becoming the successful painter, we all acknowledge in the world today. However, Vincent Van Gogh
is practically known to be the subject discussed in midst of artists, historians, and psychologists
worldwide based on his artworks, his mental health issues and cutting off his left ear.
In brief, Vincent Willem Van Gogh is a well known Dutch post impressionist painter, born to an
austere country ministering father, and an artistic mother on March 30, 1853, in Groot Zundert,
Netherlands, and died as a result of gunshot wound to the chest in the arms of his brother Theo on July
29, 1890 in Auvers sur Oise, France (Vincent, n.d.). In the wake of recent discoveries, there have been
speculations whether the death of Vincent Van Gogh was a suicidal or murderous act; which implies
whether Van Gogh shot himself or someone else did (Smith Naifeh, 2014). It is believed the death of
Van Gogh is yet a mystery basically lingering around to be solved. Nevertheless, Vincent Van Gogh

Progressivism Vs Populism Research Paper
Progressivism and populism were two of the biggest and most popular reform movements in
American society. Even though the ideologies are similar in certain aspects, they are very different in
terms of sources of support and objectives. Progressivism was mostly supported by the middle class
citizens, while Populism was formed by Western farmers and involved the common people more. All
in all, the two movements were very important reform movements that shaped later American
ideologies. Populism was started in the late 19th century by agrarian people of the South. Those with
farming background believed the government was favoring banks and industry, so they formed this
reform movement It was mostly supported by the poor sections of the rural South. On the other hand,
Progressivism arose in the beginning of the 20th century. It was supported by the middle class, who
were angry with the corruption of the rich and the appeasement of the poor by the government. The

the Baltimore Police Department (BPD) engages in practices that violate federal anti discrimination
laws, the First Amendment, and Fourth Amendment. According to the report, the Baltimore Police

The report has presented overwhelming statistical evidence to support this conclusion. BPD stops over
500 pedestrians per every 1,000 African Americans and only under 200 pedestrians for every 1,000
Caucasian Residents. A solution to this issue would be to have a diverse/variety of officers employed
under the Baltimore Police Department. Diversity should not merely be based on race but on the
background as well. BPD should only assign officers to work in a jurisdiction where they are familiar
with the residents and the demographics of the area. For example, if an area is 90% African American
and is known for high drug trafficking, an officer from a county with majority white residents and
only a discriminatory point of view on African Americans should not be assigned to work in this area.
It is important that officers familiarize themselves with the area they are policing because it will give
them a certain level of understanding and aid in determining how they should approach situations.
Also, officers should be able to honestly express when they are an assigned to an environment where
they do not feel comfortable. Keeping the lines of communication open between police officers and
administration is very important. Officers should be able to perform their duties in a comfortable

Bartleby, The Scrivener, By Herman Melville And The Fall...
Bartleby, the Scrivener by Herman Melville and The Fall of the House of Usher by Edgar Allen Poe
both use isolated characters in a main role. These stories deal with how the isolation of man leads to
the death of humanity. In a historical reference, the isolation of mentally ill men and women led to
gruesome and inhumane practices while in the care of other people.
Through the Middle Ages and until the establishment of asylums, treatments for mental illness were
offered by humanistic physicians, medical astrologers, apothecaries, and folk or traditional healers
(MacDonald 175). Aside from secular exorcisms, prayers, charms, amulets, and other mystical
treatments were available. Sedatives during the 17th century consisted of opium grains to ease the
torment of mental illness (MacDonald 190).
Some treatment options existed beyond family custody and care, such as housing the mentally ill in
workhouses or checking them into general hospitals where they were usually abandoned. Private
madhouses were established and run by members of the clergy to treat the mentally ill that could
afford care. The clergy ran these facilities treating the mentally ill as medical practice was a natural
extension of ministers duty to relieve the afflictions of their flocks (Houston). Catholic nations
regularly staffed mental health facilities with clergy, and most mentally ill individuals in Russia were
housed in monasteries until asylums spread to this region of the world in the

The Consolation of Philosophy
In book III of The Consolation of Philosophy, Boethius establishes the fact that God is the world s
helmsman, the divine reason, the supreme good, the origin of all things. He demonstrates that God is
omnipotent and omniscient. Nothing more superior can even be conceived of. Through the concept of
unity, through which things basically become good, Boethius shows that God and happiness are one,
the divine goodness. He concludes, God is the essence of happiness. (70)
Book IV is the turning point in the theodicy, in the first chapter Boethius is truly puzzled by the
presence of evil in the world. But the greatest cause of my sadness is really this the fact that in spite of
a good helmsman to guide the world, evil can still exist and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

To further explain the idea that vice is often rewarded is only an appearance, Philosophy begins
discussing punishment. She states that when criminals get punished, they receive something good.
Punishment is rehabilitation, it turns someone bad to see the light of goodness, because punishment in
itself is justice. It is when the perpetrators are not caught and brought to justice they endure the biggest
punishment of all. Wickedness, is punishment for evil, therefore it is everlasting. So the wicked are
much more unhappy when they are unjustly allowed to go scot free, than when a just punishment is
imposed on them. (98) She even goes a bit further, as to say that kindness and sympathy is usually
placed with the victim, where as it should be placed with the guilty. (100) Boethius views wickedness
as sickness, like sick men being brought to the doctor, so that their guilt could be cut back by
punishment like a malignant growth. (100) In another instance Boethius writes, evil is not so much
an infliction as a deep set infection. (94) (may be cut one quote out?)
As Boethius continues to deliberate upon the problem of good and evil, they come to the discussion of
Providence and Fate. Philosophy begins by defining both and underlining the difference between
them. She defines Providence as God s ultimate, unchanging plan, which is divine and eternal. Where
as, Fate is the way things play out. Unlike Providence, Fate is subject to change and effected by
fortune.

Luke And John Comparison Essay
On the surface, the Gospels of Luke and John seem to contain more differences than similarities; just
as the men who wrote them were different. Author of one of the synoptic Gospels, Luke, identified by
Paul as the beloved physician (Col. 4:14), was a well educated Gentile who writes a historical, non
eyewitness, carefully investigated, consecutive account of events (Luke 1:3) for the specific purpose
that the recipient would know the exact truth of what he was taught (Luke 1:4). From the angel of the
Lord s words to Zacharias preceding Jesus birth to Christ s ascension into heaven, Luke gives great
detail of events and is more interested in persons than ideas.
In contrast, John, whom church tradition affirms the disciple Jesus loved, was an uneducated and

dwelling among man and womankind, recording a relatively short span of time with an emphasis on
the later Judean ministry of Christ. Luke records many short sayings of Jesus and parables that are not
recorded in John s writings. John expands on encounters with Jesus with an element of symbolism that
brings a deep revelation of the person of Christ. John does not record His ascension, but ends the
Gospel acknowledging that if everything that Jesus did during His life on earth was recorded even the
world itself would not contain the books that would be written (John 21:25). Luke preserves faith built

How The Weight Of Weight Control

How To Keep It Off and Profit
Many people struggle with weight control and sometimes they actually managed to lose their planned
weight amount. There is however, a great problem among a vast majority of Americans who lose
weight. They lose the weight, but can t seem to keep it off. As a result of this many Americans are
caught in a cycle upon which they rapidly gain and lose weight until eventually they abandoned their
diet all together. With this in mind, how do we break the cycle and manage to make sure that the
weight that comes off stays off? Before answering how to keep the weight off, a person must consider
why does the weight come back? There are multiple factors working against dieters, both beginning
their diet and after they reached their goal and now work to maintain. When put into categories, a
dieter could see the factors like this: there is the physical factor, where it is your body s biology, age,
and even genetic makeup. Mental factor, your attitude, habits, and even self esteem along with
confidence can have an effect on you. These are essentially why it is hard to even start a diet or an
exercise program to lose weight, let alone maintain one after a person reaches their goal. The body s
chemicals and reactions contribute to how the body physically slows the progress of weight loss. From
ancient times the human body was designed to store energy as efficiently as possible to increase our

(Reh, 2011) Cost/benefit analysis is a possible suggestion because the Consultation and Education
Department director can argue that the benefit of the program far outweighs the cost of the program.
The Consultation and Education department draw clients in and a large majority of these clients go on
to participate in the larger, more funding drawing, programs. So if the department is done away with,
client numbers may decrease and other programs may suffer. Outcomes evaluation is often described
first by looking at its basic components. Outcomes evaluation looks at programs as systems that have
inputs, activities/processes, outputs and outcomes this system s view is useful in examining any

These are materials and resources that the program uses in its activities, or processes, to serve clients,

Archetypes In Hamlet
Archetypes are a constant throughout the classic of literature, an invaluable tool for the character s
thought process and how they ll react to everything. Even the infamous playwright and poet, William
Shakespeare, uses it to enhances his stories. For instance, in Shakespeare s Hamlet, the play is known
for its archetype. For instance, Laertes is often considered as the doppelganger archetype of Hamlet.
Often, he s believed to be the only one that s able to fill in the position of equal standing with Hamlet.
However, although many people would ve come to the assumption that Laertes is Hamlet s
doppelganger, because of his desires for vengeance against the people who ve wronged him and how
his personality contrasts Hamlet s character, Ophelia is the true foil of not only Hamlet, but Laertes as
well.
However, to understand archetypes, it s a must to start with a little review on psychoanalysis,
especially its evolution. From the beginning of archetypes, it began with Carl Jung, in the late
nineteenth to the mid twentieth century, being considered the successor of psychoanalysis. Similar to
Sigmund Freud, Jung was fascinated by the human being s psyche and its evolution over time. He
believed a person s past, aspirations, and experiences shape their characters who d they become in the
future. However, while both psychologists studies revolved around a person s psyche and their mental
wellbeing, Jung primarily focused on the attributes that contributed to the psyche s

Deviance And Violence In Sports Analysis
After reading both chapters, I found the constructionist approach on deviance important as it allows
for diversity within sports. It would be extremely boring if individuals in a particular sport had the
same style of playing. The games would suffer due to a lack of excitement and possible funding that
are generated from sold tickets and merchandise. Because of its raw nature and physical violence, I
think sports such as Mixed martial arts are a great example of how deviance and violence fall into
sports. Numerous individuals including myself find these sports interesting as the athletes withhold a
sport ethic that shows deviant overconformity. In MMA matches, mixed martial artists can be seen
with bloody faces and visible bruises, yet they still continue to fight in order to gain distinction for
their fighting skills. Their skills still from the type of violence called brutal body contact where they
are encouraged by coaches to use forceful physical contact to hurt their opponent and render them
incapable of fighting back. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As the textbook stated, many men inevitably pay for the price for their destructive definitions of sports
and masculinity . Sadly, they are more emergencies occurring across hospitals with professional and
amateur athletes. If certain rules/regulations where established many of these accidents can be
eliminated. These rules however will require sports officials to look past their gender ideologies and
take on a different perspective that will be beneficial to both men and women

Power In Black Panther
The explosive response that Marvel s Black Panther has received in just a few weeks made it difficult
to go into the film s screening without heightened expectations. The film has been lauded for being
both an exemplary superhero story and one of the most empowering African American films in recent
memory. Having experienced it on the big screen, I can say that you don t need to worry black panther
lives up to the hype.
Black Panther centers around King T Challa (Chadwick Boseman) of Wakanda, an African nation that
is unparalleled in technological advancements, but disguises itself as a developing country to evade
outsiders attention. The secret to wakanda s incredible technology, as well as T Challa s Black Panther
super powers, is an element called vibranium. The use of this element is the center of the film s
conflict do Wakandans provide aid to struggling countries by sharing their vibranium, or keep it
protected for their own citizens? The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A review on the alt right website Breitbart went so far as to declare that Black Panther was a pro
Trump, anti Black Lives Matter commentary. I found the opposite to be true, as I can only assume
anyone who actually paid attention to the film would. Boseman himself has said that T Challa more
closely resembles a villain at the beginning of Black Panther, and it is worth noting that the character s
eventual saviors are his own past acts of generosity and mercy. On the other hand, Killmonger is a
sympathetic villain (especially for a superhero flick) with understandable motivation; while his
methods are cause for alarm, the pain and experience behind his worldview is conveyed as quite valid.
Between its politics and the sheer fact that it is the first film of its kind to feature a nearly all POC
cast, there is no disguising Black Panther as anything but

Clarkson Lumber Company
The Clarkson Lumber Company case is divided into 3 parts.
Part I deals with assessing the financial performance of the firm. For this section you need to able to
understand why Clarkson Company is so short of funds despite its record of profitable operations and,
in this connection, develop the distinction between profits and cash requirements. An important
contribution in this part is to emphasize the dichotomy between accounting income and cash
requirements.
Part II covers the calculation of the funding needs. The bank must estimate the amount of funds
needed by Mr. Clarkson, the probable repayment schedule of its loan, and the nature and degree of the
risks it would be incurring ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A more detailed look at profitability shows:
10. How do operating margins look like? Why? Why do you think net margins are down? Is it tax
expense or is it interest expense the problem? To answer this questions you need to construct the
following ratios: * Interest Expense Ratio = Interest Expense / EBIT * Effective or Average Tax Rate
= Income Taxes / EBT (What is the difference between this tax rate and the marginal tax rate? Which
one should we use? Why? Why not?)
11. Let s now concentrate on the concept of turnover. For this reason be sure to understand the
following concepts:
What explains the decline in overall asset turnover? Why?
12. Does Clarkson Lumber have excess funds tied up in the business in 1995 that could be released to
alleviate her cash squeeze? For example, suppose that Clarkson Lumber could return to the 1993 DOH
levels. Calculate the funds released from achieving these new (or really old!) targets?
13. Finally, let s concentrate on the financing side of Clarkson Lumber and its cash cycle. What do
you conclude? Why? For this reason be sure to understand the following concepts:
Part II: Determining Funding Needs
Based on our previous analysis, please estimate the external funds that Clarkson Lumber Company
will need at the end of 1996.

Comparing Cummings The Enormous Room And Hemingway s
In The Autobiography of Alice B Toklas, Gertrude Stein mentions many artists and writers that she
had a relationship with. From artists like Picasso and Cézanne to writers like Hemingway and E.E
Cummings, Stein had a large yet interesting group of friends and even more interesting things to say
about them. She speaks the fondest of the people like Picasso who she likes best and does not say
much about other artists like Cézanne who she is not very fond of. E.E Cummings Book The
Enormous Room is not only original and interesting like Stein states, but it can be used to better
understand Steins The AutoBiography of Alice B. Toklas. In the last chapter of The Autobiography of
Alice B Toklas, Stein mentions both her s and Hemingway s opinions ... Show more content on

Cummings and Stein have more similarities than one thinks, for example, their writing styles are both
difficult to understand when first reading but they are both effective in conveying their message
whether their ways are unconventional or not. It is evident that Cummings background in poetry
influenced the prose style of his writing. For example chapter, two begins with I put the bed roll down.
I stood up. I was myself. (page 62). Not only does this resemble poetry because of the imagery
portrayed by just these few words but it also effectively conveys his message. They are also similar in
their writing styles because they both use portraits to portray the people that surround them. While
Cummings focuses on describing their physical appearance to paint a picture of both the characters
mental and physical state, stein uses the painters and writers work as well as their physical appearance
to paint this picture. Reading Cummings novel made it easier to understand Steins writing style
because they are both similar in the sense that they are both breaking the mold by using
unconventional punctuation and syntax. It also makes the reader appreciate it for its uniqueness and in
a way it is like art because she and Cummings both reject the traditional autobiography format and
make their writing their own. Stein uses Alice B. Toklas as her voice and Cummings uses his narrator
who he calls C. I also understand better why Stein chose a different voice to write this piece that can
be considered her autobiography just as much as it can be considered Toklas . It is because it give a
different kind of authority to this writing and makes it seem less

It consists of the child fantasizing that they are not the biological son or daughter of their parents. This occurs when a parent fails to reciprocate affection to their child; consequently, urging them to seek retaliation through imaginary means. The Family Romance theory explains the cultural phenomenon behind children detaching themselves from their parents in order to gain independence. It is a psychological concept featured within the family dynamic of Guillermo del Toro s 2006 film Pan s Labyrinth . • 6. The Effect Of Hho On An Internal Combustion Engine What is the effect of HHO on an internal combustion engine Introduction [200 words] What is an internal combustion engine Combustion, also known as rapid burning, is the basic chemical process of releasing energy from any fuel and air mixture. In an internal combustion engine, the ignition and combustion of the fuel occurs within each cylinder of the engine block. The engine then partially converts the energy from the combustion to push the piston down. The engine consists of a fixed cylinder and a moving piston (Springfield.mntm.org, 2017). The expanding combustion gases push the piston, which in turn rotates the crankshaft. Ultimately, through a system of gears in the powertrain, this motion drives the vehicle s wheels ... These benefits include; environmental, money saving, longer lasting engines etc. HHO eliminates harmful exhaust emissions that pollute the environment, meanwhile not contributing to global warming (Drive60mpg.com, 2017). Within the experiments that I conducted, I discovered that supplying HHO to an engine had created many new and different advantages, which provide better outcomes. How does it work? (the theory) [250 words] How do the chemicals react? When the HHO is fed into the air intake, then into a cylinder, the hydrogen explosion is so rapid, that it achieves total combustion upwards of three times faster than a gasoline based explosion (Saisantosh et al., 2017). This subsequently ignites the gasoline from all directions (For example, putting fuel on a fire), instead of just a spark in one end of the combustion cylinder. Hydrogen behaves like this because it has a very wide flammability range from 4% to 75% in air (Duncan, 2017) . Due to this there is a release of energy in a short period of time, causing the mixture to get hot and greatly expand in volume (Saisantosh et al., 2017). If the fuel is not fully burnt in that short amount of time then it just goes out the exhaust and is lost. It is also best to ignite all of the gasoline when it is under maximum compression in a combustion cylinder to get the maximum amount of energy out of it (this is a small time window). Once the piston starts going down, the energy transfer from the explosion to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Gold nanoshells (AuNS) NPs were loaded in macrophages via phagocytosis, and it is interesting to observe no apparent toxicity of macrophages after their uptake of nanoparticles 77. When co incubated with human glioma spheroids, nanoparticle laden macrophages can migrate and filtrate in the tumor as usual 78. Furthermore, two photon fluorescence microscopy of glioma spheroids showed that nanoparticle laden macrophages can accumulate in necrotic sites. When irradiated with 810 nm laser light, the growth of glioma spheroid dramatically decreased compared with the control without of nanoparticle loading. The efficacy of macrophage AuNS mediated photothermal therapy (PTT) on glioma spheroids was also tested, and the growth of spheroids was dramatically suppressed. The Role Of Parents Sport Socialization Of Youth Research Paper: The Role of Parents in Sport Socialization of Youth Lucas Eckert PSE4UO Introduction Socialization is the process in which an individual becomes a member of society. Parents are the most significant agent in the socialization of their children. They have a tremendous influence on the type of people their children grow up to be. They pass on their beliefs and values to their children and influence their child s personality and morals. In sports, there is also a process of socialization, in which the individual becomes a part of the athletic community. In this process, parents also posses significant influence over their children (Quinton, 2012). They decide whether or not their children play sports, which sports their children may play, and they can greatly affect their child s enjoyment and performance in the sport. This influence can either lead to positive or negative effects on the children s experience with sport. This depends on the level of involvement and the nature of that involvement (Shwarzlose, 2013). The purpose of this paper is to discuss the ways by which parents influence their child s process of socialization in sport, and identify the positive and negative effects associated with the different methods. Vincent Van Gogh And His Life In essence of this twenty first (21st) Century, the life of Vincent Van Gogh; has become more of a legend with a substantial figure among painters and western art in the society today. Vincent Van Gogh is said to be a person with persevering characteristics due to all the failures he encountered in his career path from being a minister like his father to dealing in arts like his uncle (Blumer,2002) before becoming the successful painter, we all acknowledge in the world today. Bartleby, the Scrivener by Herman Melville and The Fall of the House of Usher by Edgar Allen Poe both use isolated characters in a main role. These stories deal with how the isolation of man leads to the death of humanity. In a historical reference, the isolation of mentally ill men and women led to gruesome and inhumane practices while in the care of other people. Through the Middle Ages and until the establishment of asylums, treatments for mental illness were offered by humanistic physicians, medical astrologers, apothecaries, and folk or traditional healers (MacDonald 175). Aside from secular exorcisms, prayers, charms, amulets, and other mystical treatments were available. Sedatives during the 17th century consisted of opium grains to ease the torment of mental illness (MacDonald 190). Some treatment options existed beyond family custody and care, such as housing the mentally ill in workhouses or checking them into general hospitals where they were usually abandoned. Private madhouses were established and run by members of the clergy to treat the mentally ill that could afford care. To further explain the idea that vice is often rewarded is only an appearance, Philosophy begins discussing punishment. She states that when criminals get punished, they receive something good. Punishment is rehabilitation, it turns someone bad to see the light of goodness, because punishment in itself is justice. It is when the perpetrators are not caught and brought to justice they endure the biggest punishment of all. Wickedness, is punishment for evil, therefore it is everlasting. So the wicked are much more unhappy when they are unjustly allowed to go scot free, than when a just punishment is imposed on them. (98) She even goes a bit further, as to say that kindness and sympathy is usually placed with the victim, where as it should be placed with the guilty. (100) Boethius views wickedness as sickness, like sick men being brought to the doctor, so that their guilt could be cut back by punishment like a malignant growth. (100) In another instance Boethius writes, evil is not so much an infliction as a deep set infection. (94) (may be cut one quote out?) As Boethius continues to deliberate upon the problem of good and evil, they come to the discussion of Providence and Fate. Philosophy begins by defining both and underlining the difference between them. She defines Providence as God s ultimate, unchanging plan, which is divine and eternal. • 38. Luke And John Comparison Essay On the surface, the Gospels of Luke and John seem to contain more differences than similarities; just as the men who wrote them were different. Author of one of the synoptic Gospels, Luke, identified by Paul as the beloved physician (Col. 4:14), was a well educated Gentile who writes a historical, non eyewitness, carefully investigated, consecutive account of events (Luke 1:3) for the specific purpose that the recipient would know the exact truth of what he was taught (Luke 1:4). From the angel of the Lord s words to Zacharias preceding Jesus birth to Christ s ascension into heaven, Luke gives great detail of events and is more interested in persons than ideas. John expands on encounters with Jesus with an element of symbolism that brings a deep revelation of the person of Christ. There is however, a great problem among a vast majority of Americans who lose weight. They lose the weight, but can t seem to keep it off. As a result of this many Americans are caught in a cycle upon which they rapidly gain and lose weight until eventually they abandoned their diet all together. With this in mind, how do we break the cycle and manage to make sure that the weight that comes off stays off? Before answering how to keep the weight off, a person must consider why does the weight come back? There are multiple factors working against dieters, both beginning their diet and after they reached their goal and now work to maintain. When put into categories, a dieter could see the factors like this: there is the physical factor, where it is your body s biology, age, and even genetic makeup. Mental factor, your attitude, habits, and even self esteem along with confidence can have an effect on you. These are essentially why it is hard to even start a diet or an exercise program to lose weight, let alone maintain one after a person reaches their goal.
