Anatomy Carpal tunnel syndrome is a common condition that affects the hand and wrist. It happens
when too much pressure is put on the median nerve. The median nerve runs through a structure at the
wrist called the carpal tunnel, which is where the syndrome gets its name. Sometimes the carpal tunnel
(which is made up of the carpal bones and the transverse ligament) will narrow, due to swelling, and
that is how the median nerve gets squeezed. This condition is usually progressive (it will continue to

pushing this chapter s main idea that Calvinism holds a dominant and impressive position in the
domain of religion by using dramatic language that insinuates the bragging that Calvinism is better

It was a cold Friday morning in suburbia when Nancy had woken up to a loud drilling across the
street. There were children rushing to school with their bags weighing them down and parents on their

Early Modern drama criticism has been concerned with the parallels between punishment on stage,
performed for an audience in plays such as Thomas Kyd s The Spanish Tragedy; and punishment as it
was enacted on the scaffold. In his play, Kyd aligns this parallel with another: that between revenge
and justice. Though separate in one sense, revenge can be understood in terms of justice, and justice
therefore seemingly has some qualities in common with its presumed opposite. On top of this, Kyd
superimposes the tension between Catholicism and Protestantism. The Spanish Tragedy, then, sets up
and destroys a three pronged opposition: the opposition between judicial punishment and theatrical
punishment; the opposition between rival forms of Christianity; and the opposition between the public
and private revenger. I will discuss each of these oppositions in turn and it is through this lens that I
will examine the representation of punishment in the play. Executions are rare, even taboo, as visual

Contrasts between Zeffirelli and Luhrmann s Romeo and Juliet There are many differences, large and
small, between Zeffirelli and Luhrmann s version of Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet. After seeing the
first scene of both of these films, some notable contrasts became clear. The props used in both films
differ greatly, in the 1967 version, very dated costumes were used, it looked like the director wanted a
medieval style to be shown in the film judging by the costumes and props used. Real swords were
drawn by the Capulet s and the Montague s as the play suggests but the fighting seemed quite
unbelievable to a modern day viewer as did some of the stalls used in the small market surroundings.
The scenery in each play also differs greatly; the 1967 version is set in a medieval village with castles
and a small market. Again its age shows as the buildings and backdrops look quite fake against the
modern scenery in the 1997 film. Good lighting is used in the older film but again the newer one has
realistic effects and buildings and overall has better quality scenery. In both films, certain lines are
missed out or changed slightly; I think the language used is basically the same but in the market it was
hard at times to hear what exactly was being said over all the noise of the villagers. Although
Luhrmann did a good job of bringing modern props into the film, the language used in play sounded
odd coming from modern people, dressed in modern clothes at a petrol station. So I think the older
film did a better job with the language despite the hearing difficulty in some parts. The Acting quality
was good in both films, but I found the style in the early 1967 version was boring and the fight scenes
were slightly unbelievable. The 1997 version was more exciting and kept u interested but there wasn t
really much between the two films in the quality of acting. Finally I looked at the different camera
techniques used, it was interesting to see that both plays had shots of the legs or shoes of one of the
families, Zeffirelli shot

Ralph Ellison s short excerpt from Invisible Man, is about an unnamed high school graduate, who is
haunted by his grandfather s last words, Live with your head in the lion s mouth, I want you to
overcome em with yesses, undermine em with grins, agree em to death and destruction, let em swoller
you till they vomit or bust wide open (Ellison). The unnamed graduate realizing he is an invisible man
due to his skin color. Even though he has achieved a high school education and slavery was no longer
a problem, he felt as though people still looked right through him. So, when his grandfather was on his
deathbed, those last few words kept haunting the young man leaving him confused on how to make
life decisions. He still remained an intelligent, brave young man despite being naïve and weak. The
unnamed teen shows his confusion right when his grandfather had died. He did not know how to
comprehend what he heard and how to live by it. He did not like how it remained an unanswered
puzzle in the back of his mind (Ellison). The unnamed teen was living as he should, abiding why the
white folks and listening to what they had to say, yet at the same time, he felt as though he was going
