Beethoven s Seventh Symphony Analysis
Symphony No. 7 in A Major (Op. 92), completed in 1812, might have been one of Ludwig Van
Beethoven s most popular pieces. The seventh of Beethoven s nine symphonies, its premiere concert
(December 1813 in Vienna) was performed at a charity concert in order to benefit the soldiers who
had been wounded a few months prior in the battle of Hanau. It was performed three times in ten
weeks following its premiere. During the time of the symphony s premiere, Vienna was still distressed
due to being taken over by Napoleon in 1805 and 1809 and yearning for victory; the audience at the
premiere seemed to have loved the energy and beauty of the piece. The Seventh Symphony had been
dedicated to both Count Moritz von Fries and Russian Empress Elisabeth ... Show more content on

The Seventh Symphony itself can and has been described in many words and fashions. It s victorious,
moving, energetic, powerful, and full of heart. The piece is known for its rhythmic devices (such as
dotted rhythm and repeated rhythmic figures) and the celebratory emotion to it, in which makes
listeners want to dance and burst into blissful joy. It involves four movements: 1. Poco sostenuto
Vivace, 2. Allegretto, 3. Presto Assai meno presto (trio), and 4. Finale, Allegro con brio. The score
includes two flutes, two oboes, two clarinets, two bassoons, two horns, two trumpets, two drums (in
which are tuned to A and E, except in the scherzo where they are in F and A), and basses. The first
movement is in A major, with repeated modulations between C major and F major. The second
movement also includes modulations (originally in A minor with switches to A major) and the third
movement is in F major. The first movement of Symphony No. 7 is noted for its long ascending scales
as well as its applied dominants relative to its C major and F major modulations. The Introduction
begins with a short A chord from the full orchestra. After eight bars, the piece has briefly entered the
key of F major already and is now accompanied by scales of two octaves which begin softly, similar to
the way a person creeps up and down a staircase. These scales repeat, gradually becoming louder and
more extravagant. The third theme

UnitedHealth owns 110.54B of market capitalization, making it becomes leading company in
diversified health and well being company. Offering a broad spectrum of products and services
through two distinct platform; UnitedHealthcare and Optum, UNH operates in a highly competitive
market, where it identifies its main competitors as managed health care companies, insurance
companies, HMOs and third party administrators (TPAs). With annual revenue of about $146.94
billion and $12.49 billion of yearly earnings , UNH by far is the largest insurance provider in the
country, leading other competitors in the market including Aetna Inc., Humana Inc., Anthem Inc.,
Health Net Inc., WellPoint, for profit and non for profit insurer under licenses from Blue Cross Blue
Shield. Meanwhile for Optum, competitors include CVS Caremark Corporation, Express Scripts Inc.
and Catamaran Corporation.
A recent update on UnitedHealth Group financial performance suggested that the company has
experienced low Earning Per Share as compared to its peers. UNH share prices on Year to Date (YTD)
basis keeps fluctuating for the past 52 weeks indicate the company is struggling to maintain its
position as the nation s largest insurance industry, especially after the mergers of four other key
competitors in the insurance market. Throughout 2015, Aetna, Cigna, Anthem, and UnitedHealth

Gender And Politics James Joyce s Dubliners
Gender and Politics in James Joyce s Dubliners At the turn of the 20th century, a young Irish novelist,
James Joyce, released his first collection of short stories on Irish identity and what it means to exist in
Ireland. In some of his most well known stories, you can see Joyce building a contrast between the
men and the women in Irish society. One of his most well known short stories, The Dead takes a very
explicit approach to gender politics as well as the idea of identity and race. My intention is to build a
web from several stories in Dubliners and their political, racial and cultural implications as well as
how they have influenced Irish culture. Dubliners was one of the ... Show more content on

His solipsistic assumptions that he is the reason she developed a liking for alcohol is indicative of how
he views how truly important he was to her. His response is characteristic of how Joyce began to view
the Irish later in life, especially since many Irish were very reserved and buttoned down, and Mr.
Duffy s response of disgust toward Mrs. Sinico s putting his hands on her face directly affirms that he
is trying to exemplify what a true Irish citizen should be. Yet he is also paralyzed by his sense of moral
superiority and what he believes he must represent. It ends with him being alone yet again. A character
that contrasts Mr. Duffy s initially composed nature is Farrington in Counterparts whose anger
towards his unrepentantly callous boss spreads through him and eventually infects his family. He starts
off arguing with his boss, showing a disregard for authority and restraint is a contrast to what would
be expected of those in the Anglo Irish middle class; instead, he represents himself as a stereotype of
an Irish Catholic middle class, which is especially pronounced when he goes to the pub and begins

The Children s Act (1989) (2004)
The children s act 1989 was amended in 2004. The children s act has placed organisations to safeguard

Reflection On The Spartan Pre-Race
This was my third year in a row running this Spartan venue Super and unfortunately I was under the
weather dealing with a both a cough and sinus infection. I arrived the night before and slept in my car
and I could hear it pouring rain all night so I knew the course was going to be very muddy and
slippery on at least Saturday.
Pre race MC:
The pre race MC both days was nothing special to write home about, he injected a littler of his humor
to his speech, but it was pretty much the standard Spartan pre race speech that I have heard well over
sixty times prior and at least for me, I get almost no motivation out of it. I wish Spartan would allow
its MC s more room to improvise and add something to the pre race speeches to help motivate ...

I actually think the mud was a plus for me, as it made the ground softer and easier to run through.
I have three Spartan races left for 2016 and then I am off to England for many new and unique
obstacle course races, I am looking forward to those races because my favorite Spartan course
designer/director Dan Luzzi is designing the course, but I have to admit, I really hope Spartan goes
back to the drawing board prior to 2017 and adds several new and unique obstacles.
The course was very challenging, the trails were awesome and Norm and his team clearly worked hard
to design it, the weather went from being from very warm to borderline cold and for some miserable,
which only made for a more challenging race weekend, the bling is what it is and I am always happy
to add more Spartan bling to my collection, the MC was average at best, but I am not sure I can blame
the MC for that, the staff and volunteers where awesome and smiles all weekend under not so perfect
conditions. I am rating this course/event a 5 out of 5 stars based on giving Norm and his team
additional points for the hard work they clearly

The Problem Of Drug Addiction
This report will outline the problems of drug addiction that have arisen in the young teens and as well
give possible solutions on how to overcome it. Drug addiction, increasing immensely in our society, is
currently the biggest problem in young teens these days. Looking at the future of our country
drowning in drugs is a big disappointment. To prevent drug addiction parents should guide their
children into the right path, schools should promote healthy living, and the government should step
forward to set up campaigns to educate parents about this topic. The riddance of drugs is a leading
factor to abolish crimes in the community. After reading this report, you will have an understanding of
how to reduce drugs from the city and the possible solutions to help over come this issue.
ISSUE:
Drug addiction has been increasing immensely among our society today and is spreading rapidly
among young teens which is not only harming their health but is also ruining precious time of their
life.
ANALYSIS WITH POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS
Parents should guide their children into the right path:
A child is greatly impacted by it s parents during their childhood. Children are like clay and parents
can mould them in their initial stage of the life cycle how ever they want. Parents should have enough
knowledge about ways children get attracted toward drugs, so that they can prevent addiction for the
future. Often children with problematic backgrounds start consuming drugs because of the

Character Analysis Of Midaq Alley
The novel, Midaq Alley, written by Naguib Mahfouz, tells the story of various characters living in a
poor alley in Egypt during World War I. Of all the people in Midaq Alley, Hamida is the one who lusts
most for an escape from tradition and poverty. She despises her traditional culture, and longs for a life
free from the social and cultural constraints that fall upon her. Hamida is introduced as a strong
character; however, the temptation of modernization guides her towards a more enticing lifestyle.
Hamida s character portrays how easy it is for one to abandon their culture, traditions and values. It
also portrays change in all aspects of Egyptian life, including religion, wealth and traditions. The
description Mahfouz gives of Hamida makes her out to be the most beautiful girl in the alley.
Immediately, her beauty captures the reader s attention, and causes her to stand out in the novel. In
fact, her beauty created chaos among the men in the alley, and is conveyed in the line she was
constantly beset by a desire to fight and conquer...this she showed in her pleasure in attracting men
[Mahfouz, 39]. In the third chapter of the novel, Hamida was described as a beautiful, shapely, dark
eyed girl in her twenties, who longs for fine clothes and a rich husband. Hamida is described as having

The Jim Crow Rights
The shadow becomes known. Big groups, small groups, militants, and peacemakers, strong, brave,
marches and riots, boycotts... Leaders... Fighters... And Strong willed individuals. That s who my
ancestors of yesterday were and that s who I am today. People think that president Lincoln, Congress,
and the Emancipation Proclamation freed all slaves, but it was Slaves who freed themselves from
slavery. African Americans always fought for their freedom, nobody gave it to us and we will continue
to fight until we get what we deserve. The emancipation proclamation did nothing for slavery but
freed slaves that were already free for fighting alongside with the north. Lincolns proclamation, freed
not a single slave who was not already entitled to freedom under legislation passed by congress the
previous year. Without protest, African American Kings and Queens wouldn t have the very little
rights we have today. Back then blacks were looked at as a piece of property not even entitled to the
pot they pissed in, but as times changed we started to gain and maintain. Nearly 100 years after the
Emancipation Proclamation, African Americans in Southern states still inhabited a starkly unequal
world of disenfranchisement, segregation, and various forms of oppression, including race inspired
violence. Jim Crow laws represented a formal, codified system of racial apartheid that dominated the
American South for three quarters of a century beginning in the 1890s. The laws affected almost every

Chinese. The service was very quick and fast. The waiters/waitresses were very polite and friendly

The shrimp was cooked to perfection. The colour was perfectly pink and not translucent. Not
overcooked and not undercooked. Just right for my taste. One bite into of the shrimps and it was juicy.
Presentation wise, the shrimp was cut down the middle with the shell still on and was placed in the
middle of the rice bowl for a clean and appropriate presentation. With the clear juices running from

Baderman Island Expansion
Several methods of expanding a company exist. The Baderman Island resort is looking into different
options to expand their operations. This paper will explore the subject of the three main options;
acquiring another organization in the same industry, going public through an Initial Public Offering
(IPO), and merging with another organization. Additionally, it will provide analysis of the strengths,
weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT) of each option. Finally, it will provide a
recommendation regarding which would be the best option for Baderman Island Resort to use to
expand its operations.

A SWOT analysis of using a merger to expand operations follows. A strength from performing a
merger is the ability to acquire a company s unused debt. Some firms simply do not exhaust their debt
capacity. If a firm with unused debt capacity is acquired, the new management can then increase debt
financing, and reap the tax benefits associated with the increased leverage (Keown, 2005, pp. 23 4).
Another strength is enabling Baderman Island to remove an ineffective management strategy or team.
Baderman Island has the option to decide who stays with the merged company, and who is out the
door. Often times, a weak management leading team is the problem the organization has not evaluated
for its mediocre success. The merger of two firms can result in an increase in market or monopoly
power. Although this can result in increased wealth, it may also be illegal. The Clayton Act, as
amended by the Celler Kefauver Amendment of 1950, makes any merger illegal that results in a
monopoly or substantially reduces competition. The Justice Department and the Federal Trade
Commission monitor all mergers to ensure that they do not result in a reduction of competition
(Keown, 2005, pp. 23 4).
Weaknesses of a merger for Baderman Island are the many distractions that rise to the surface.
Employees may show concern with the future of his or her employment, rather than concentrating on
the job at hand, thus causing lower production and quality control.

London 1908 The Court of Honor
By day it is a vision of dazzling whiteness, with its tiled court and plashing cool waters, its pointed

rainbow colours of the cascade. ~Robert W. Carden, Architectural Review July, 1908
Despite varied opinions about the 1908 Franco British Exhibition, an event designed to confirm the
friendly relations between France and Britain as described in the Entente Cordiale, there was
collective praise for the Court of Honor. The full grandeur of the Court can hardly be felt by an image.

Already impressive during the day, the view was brilliant at night: a cascade of water flowed over a
framework of semi opaque glass with colored lights beneath, producing a brilliant rainbow of light

Imre Kiralfy, its coordinator, was the driving force behind the fair. He had found previous fame in
running extravagant exhibitions, and lived up to expectations by planning the Franco British
Exhibition concurrently with that year s Olympiad, held in a stadium nearby. Kiralfy saw the fair as an
opportunity to gain cultural respectability; however, since he was not a trained architect, he received
much criticism on his designs. He designed the Court of Honor as well as the steel frames for all of the
major buildings, then consulted the architects who devised the plaster facades to create the White City.
Many critics felt that he limited the creativity of the architects by giving them pre planned structures
for their buildings. Placing blame on Kiralfy, they denounced the cosmetic role leading architects were
asked to fulfill, pointing out the vulgar error of putting the wrong end of the stick before the horse.
(Greenhalgh). There were also complaints that the buildings did not fit together, despite the overall
whiteness of the fair. This was mainly the result of two very different countries contributing

Theme Of Love In Ethan Frome
Ethan Frome was novel about a love story that could not be fulfilled, because the characters that are
having the secret love story are already married or about to be married. The theme that was shown the
most through the book was love. This theme was talked about a lot during the book with two of the
main characters. Between the three main characters one was the string through the whole novel and
that was Zeena. The way Ethan life turn out is because of the choices he has made he cause everything
that has happen to him. Everything can change with just one decision you make. The theme love was
shown when Ethan and the person, who lives in his house so she can help his sick wife with things she
needs to be done, falls in love with each other but they have to hide it from everybody. One day they
were walking home together and the book shows symbolism through what happens. In the book it
says, A dead cucumber vine dangled from the porch like the crape streamer tied to the door for a
death, and the thought flashed through Ethan s brain: If it was there for Zeena Then he had a distinct
sight of his wife lying in her bedroom asleep, her mouth slightly open, her false teeth in a tumbler by
the bed. (Wharton 21). The cucumber vine symbolised his wife being dead but she really was not dead
just sick. This helps with the theme because at first Ethan think him and Mattie can be together but
then realises his wife is still alive, The motif that help clarify the theme is

Examples Of A Sufficient Condition
A Necessary Condition Taking for instance, x is a necessary condition for y, that implies that if x
lacks, then y cannot be yielded. To confirm that x is a condition that is requisite for y does imply that x
guarantees y. Another good example is; having diesel in a vehicle is a necessary condition intended for
the automobile to start. Deprived of diesel (x), the vehicle (y) won t start. However, fueling the vehicle
is not an assurance that the car will start, because there are various conditions playing part (Gerson
Lloyd 214). A Sufficient Condition In the essence that x is regarded as a sufficient condition meant for
y, then that implies that with x, y is in necessitate to follow. Correspondingly, x guarantees y.
Deliberate on the following example. Making a total of 900 points (90%) in a Critical and Creative
Thinking class is a sufficient condition that will guarantee a final score of A (Gerson Lloyd 216). ...

Cake Decorating Papers
From the time 19 year old Ashley was assigned an independent study and she took the Wilton cake
decorating classes, Ashley knew she had found a new love. Her ability to create roses in any color she
wanted, to use a piping transfer sheet to make an intricate design on a cake, and to fill cupcakes with
chocolate ganache allowed her to feel a sense of control and like she was a true artist. So what exactly
is cake decorating? It is a form of art that uses all different types of designs and decorations to take a
basic cake and make it look more intricate and hopefully more beautiful. Over the past 10 years, cake
decorating products have become more accessible to the general public, making it easier for the at

Ashley has heard about this and did her research. She found out a lot about how classes were
therapeutic to regular people, but how cake decorating has been known to help celebrities and
prisoners as well. Gabrielle Fantelli talks about the benefits of baking therapy in her article and
claims, Kneading a batch of bread dough for 10/15 minutes will sure take away a lot of frustration and
negative feeling, the weighing of the ingredients, the repetitive motions and the feeling of being in
control could help keep calm and level up unruly anxiety feelings (para 2). She is acknowledging here
that many components of baking can help get out a lot of negative emotions and free someone of a
negative mentality or disposition. In Helen Razer s article, grandma Eileen Scriven expresses that It s
just a beautiful medium. I relax by making my flowers and such at night. I have four daughters and
eight grandchildren, and one little one with autistic features. We have a battle. But I have my cake

relaxing, and can be a get away from family stressors something that is appealing to Ashley since she
often has troubles at home. But what really inspires Ashley is the testimonies of celebrities in the cake
decorating world who have found it therapeutic. John Whaite declares Baking helps lift my

information, Dawood comments that eight years ago, he was diagnosed with manic depression.
Whaite himself elaborates When I m in the kitchen, measuring the amount of sugar, flour or butter I

Analysis of The Essenes and the Dead Sea Scrolls

This shepherd boy had been clambering around the clefts and gullies of a rock face on Wadi Qumran,
north of the Dead Sea hoping to find one of his lost lambs. Thinking that it could have taken refuge in

Indeed, some 50 years have elapsed and many Biblical scholars have assessed the manuscripts.
It will not be the purposes of this paper to debate the validity of the documents nor enter into
archeological debate, this paper however will in Section 1, provide further historical evidence in
support of the Essenes sect dwelling at Qumran. The writer will present an outline of the monastic
lifestyle of the Essenes, their closed community, their laws and beliefs.

Anne Sexton Her Kind
Throughout the Earth s vast history, women who have defied or who have simply not adhered to
society s standards have been literally and metaphorically burned at the stake. These kinds of women
have been ostracized, demonized, and called all kinds of names simply for not fitting a uniform
criterion. This exclusion of female outcasts is what Anne Sexton focuses on in her poem Her Kind. In
it, she elaborates on the idea that society naturally shuns and persecutes all women that are deemed
undesirable or nonconforming. Put simply, in Anne Sexton s Her Kind, imagery, repetition, and syntax
reveal the author s theme on societal views regarding female identity.
First, imagery in Her Kind paints the speaker as a kind of unearthly, inhuman creature, ... Show more

In the first stanza, commas are overwhelmingly present and cause silences to appear throughout this
whole stanza; for example, in line five, Sexton writes the following comma ridden line: lonely thing,
twelve fingered, out of mind (5). Due to the slow way the poem reads, the narrator seems bored and or
saddened by her isolation. Next, in the second stanza, though commas are much more present, these
serve their purpose in lists, and arguably speed up the poem; this is most notably seen in lines 9 and 10
where Sexton writes the following: filled them with skillets, carvings, shelves, / closets, silks,
innumerable goods. This shows the narrator s building cheerfulness and confidence in being herself.
Finally, the syntax in the last stanza is that of complete sentences, and serves to show the narrator s
final resolve to be self assured in her abnormality, revealed by the poem s last two lines: A woman like
that is not ashamed to die. / I have been her kind (20 21). Since the poem ends ironically with the
narrator s death being the moment she feels the most confident about herself, readers can only assume
that this is Sexton s sardonic way of saying that self confident, nonconforming women are comparable
to martyrs for their cause. Taking everything into account, Sexton s use of syntax provides a

The Ethical Hacking Program On Pluralsight.com
The first week of this class was a challenge because I was not prepared with a project. I felt I had
plenty of time before I had to come up with a project or plan for this class but all too soon I was
enrolled and the class had begun. After looking at a few possible projects and subjects for a thirty page
thesis I decided on going through the Certified Ethical Hacking program on Pluralsight.com.
Over the past fourteen weeks I watched the lectures on Pluralsight.com, took quizzes on skillset.com,
read chapters and took chapter review tests in the Certified Ethical Hacker version 9 book by Sean
Philip Oriyano. I watched approximately sixty one hours of lectures, spent several hours taking
assesments and quizzes on skillset.com and spent somewhere in the neighborhood of thirty five hours
reading and taking chapter review tests in the CEH version 9 book.
A Certified Ethical Hacker must understand and know how to test for vulnerabilities and weaknesses
in systems. This is done using the same knowledge and tools as a malicious hacker but in a legal
manner to assess the security and preparedness of a target system. The CEH credential certifies
individuals in the discipline of Ethical Hacking from a vendor neutral perspective. The first week of
class I had to agree to the Certified Ethical Hacker Rules and submit a candidate application and
certification agreement. Once done with that I had to setup a test workstation running Microsoft

Eleanor Brooks Narrative
Doctor after doctor entered and left Eleanor s room. Everyone has been told to go outside and stay out
of their way. While the others play a game of soccer, Logan is sitting, staring at the house. Everyone
even Lynda is leaving him alone. With a frustrated sigh, Logan pulls out his cellphone and dials a
number. I need your help, he growls, giving the person on the receiving end no time to speak up first.
A small laugh comes through the speaker. Well, hello to you too, Logan. Delta, this is no time for
games. I need your help. Fine, she says then pauses. A new sound fills the phone line, one of someone
typing on a keyboard. What can I do for you? I need all of the information that you can get on a

repeated. The inside of their home was nice. The rooms were clean and the house smelled of brownies.
Logan was led into the living room, where everyone took a seat and the younger girl was told to leave.
But why? she asked, tears forming in the corners of her large eyes. Because, Jessie, this isn t a
conversation that you need to be apart of, Zack answered. He had used a tone that had made Logan
sure that nothing would be able to change his mind. Jessie stormed out of the room, marching up the
creaking stairs. Now, what is it that you have to say? Logan rubbed the back of his neck in thought. I
was hoping I could speak with Delta. Privately. No, Delta spoke up. Anything you have to say, you

Artificial Intelligence, also known as AI, allows a machine to function as if the machine has the
capability to think like a human. While we are not expecting any hovering cars anytime soon, artificial
intelligence is projected to have a major impact on the labor force and will likely replace about half
the workforce in the United States in the decades to come. The research in artificial intelligence is
advancing rapidly at an unstoppable rate. So while many people feel threatened by the possibility of a
robot taking over their job, computer scientists actually propose that robots would benefit a country s
efficiency of production, allowing individuals to reap the benefits of the robots. For the advantage of

The Use Of Primitive Tasers On The United States Of America
Most of us are familiar with the distinctive ticking of a TASER. TASERs, used by police departments
throughout the United States of America, have become a go to tool for apprehending suspects without
fatally wounding them. The first use of primitive TASERs dates back to 1960 and they have come a
long way since. Such as advancements such as upgrading from gunpowder to compressed air, to more
computerised TASERs that automatically cut off and collect crucial user data. With the advancement
of technology, TASERs quickly became a more viable tool for an officer s duty belt.
In the 1960 s law enforcement officers faced a multitude of protests from civil rights activists and

In 1974 Jack began his work on his idea drawing inspiration from a book called Tom Swift and his
Electric Rifle. He first created a device that look like a flashlight. The device used gunpowder to fire
two prongs attached to wire up to 15 feet. Once the prongs made contact the device pulsed 50,000
volts into the target causing uncontrollable muscle spasms and effectively immobilizing the target
without killing. He came up with the name TSR, an acronym for the book in which he got his ideas
from, for his invention. Later he would add an a , making it the well known name today TASER, to the
name because he grew tired of saying the letters when talking about his invention.
After filing for a patent on his device Jack tried to start selling his new invention. However, the United
States government quickly classified his invention as a firearm because of the use of gunpowder. This
classification severely hindered his sales but he managed to sell to the Los Angeles Police
Department. When efforts to use the device to subdue Rodney King in 1991 failed Patrick Smith
teamed up with Jack to help improve the device. One of the major improvements was replacing the
gunpowder used to propel the prongs with compressed air. Without gunpowder in the device the
classification of firearm was dropped, making selling the device much easier. This caused

How To Write A Rhetorical Analysis On Jane Goodall
The article on Jane Goodall accentuates a woman s struggle for her convictions against all odds. The
interview makes a good case of how a firm resolve and an unwavering determination for a cause can
take a person a long way.
Despite a lack of scientific academic education, Jane Goodall s work on the chimpanzees made
revolutionary breakthrough in the field of understanding chimpanzee behavior. It was all made
possible by her firm belief on her unconventional methods which academics in the field eyed with
cynicism and felt was pointless. Such pessimistic outlook on her efforts from established academics
did not blight her morale; instead she carried on with her methods of analyzing the chimpanzee
population with full enthusiasm and self belief.

poem persuasively, while Annie Finch, the author of Coy Mistress , wrote her poem as a rebuttal to his

Marvell stated Two hundred (years) to adore each breast (15). He reveals this insincere, almost satiric

Commerce Is Creating Wealth For Society
The among the many functions of commerce is creating wealth for society. However, it is questionable
if the firm in Margin Call follows through with its role acting in the interests of society in its bleak
predicament. Once it is revealed that there is a high probability of the firm being devalued beyond
market capitalization, the employees of an unnamed company attempt to formulate a solution to the
imminent crisis. Although there is some dissent from Sam Rogers, Head of Sales and Trading, CEO
Tuld promptly decides to liquidate the firm s toxic assets onto the market. Despite the unanimous
direction the firm moves in, there are various sources of internal tensions between the firm s
employees in that they individually represent differing perspectives within the social context of the
firm. Through the various rationales the executives possess as well as the relationships between the
employees and the firm itself, Margin Call illustrates the conviction that although the role of
commerce is to engender a certain lifestyle for the public, the executives in the firm have warped this
belief into a justification for the extreme measures they lead the firm to take in the name of their profit
and their survival. In the first scene of Margin Call, the social hierarchy of the firm is staunchly
established as Will himself is nonchalant about the layoff because he holds a relatively senior position
in the firm and it s evident that he has survived through other layoffs. In

Second Wave Feminism In The 1960s And 1970s
Second wave feminism in the 1960s and 1970s, in conjunction with other social movements, built a
foundation for much of the activist and intellectual work that followed. However, there was an
assumption of whiteness in the second wave feminist movement as well as a prominence of
heteronormativity, which blinded most of the populace to activist work done by women of color and
lesbians. For example, there was a whole strata of work in lesbian and gay scholarship which date
from the early 1970s which came out of the gay liberation movement. Lesbians (often in association
with Jewish women) led the way among white women in articulating a politic that accounted for white

Usefulness of Spreadsheet Modeling in Financial Accounting...
21st century is the century of technology, and spreadsheet is one of the great technological inventions
that greatly improve working efficiency. Spreadsheet is a computer application with functions that can
improve the user s productivity in collecting, analyzing, and sharing tabular data sets. It displays
multiple cells usually in a two dimensional matrix or grid making up of rows and columns. Each cell
contains alphanumeric text, numeric values, or formulas (Wikipedia, 2011). Bagranoff (2010) thought

It is widely agreed that problems with information security and managerial control over spreadsheet
accuracy stem from the inherent nature of spreadsheet software. The first problem is the difference
between making a spreadsheet simply appear on the display screen and constructing a well designed
spreadsheet characterized by integrity and build in controls. This is particularly troublesome since
once they are set up, spreadsheets may be used for an extended period of time and are often copied
and distributed to others. If errors have been programmed into the spreadsheet s original version, they
will affect the spreadsheet s output forever and be replicated and compounded each time the
spreadsheet is reproduced (Busbin et al, 1990). Secondly, because spreadsheet software allows
convenient alteration of value and design, without built in controls subsequent users may alter
spreadsheet structure and thereby unknowingly compromise the integrity of the original design, and at
the worst, could be flawed final decision making due to a reliance upon erroneous information
(Busbin et al, 1990). Moreover, relationships among financial accounts, informational reliability risks,

The Live Performance Of Dolly Parton s Just Because I m A...
Dolly represents the social inequality that was a main problem during this era.
The live performance of Dolly Parton s Just Because I m A Woman, shows artist sound, performance,
and clothing for the traditional era. The sound of her song started softly and the pitch increased as it
reached the chorus. Dolly Parton showed much more emotion and energy than Tammy Wynette
portrayed in her song. In addition, Dolly Parton dressed conservatively wearing a dressy church dress
as she performed. Parton, a traditional artist, represented the traditional era with her conservative
clothing; however, she went against the norm when she began questioning gender roles.
There is a shift from traditional to more modern country music. Modern artist Carrie Underwood
shows a significant shift from traditional to modern country music in her 2005 song, Before He
Cheats. Although there is not complete feminism inserted into her song, being a liberated woman is
feminist. For example, Underwood reaps the benefits of the sexual revolution and the feminist
movement without her music being feminist. This change in modern country music causes the lyric
content, sound, stage performance, and artist clothing to also change from the traditional artists. The
Before He Cheats lyrics below will show a change in the lyric content and sound:

The distribution of plants and animals in the Galapagos was puzzling to Darwin; where did these
species originate from? Why don t the same species appear in similar environments? Many species
only lived on the Galapagos and sometimes, only one certain island. How did these species end up
there? There were species on the Galapagos such as insects and reptiles that resembled some species
in South America, but were also different in very slight ways. Darwin began to wonder if species
would travel to the Galapagos, and then adapt to their new environments over time. If two species
came from a common ancestor, it would make sense for them to live together. For example, Darwin s
finches he discovered on the Galapagos had differently sized beaks. These beaks would differ in size
according to the area these birds were in their appearance and behavior quickly adapted to this closed
and rapidly changing environment.

We thought that we are super nice and calm people, but not really.....
We thought that we are patient and compassionate people, but not really...
We thought that we are loving and unselfish people, but not really...
Thus, the practice of Mauna enables to see the truth of our own minds. It makes us more

The purpose of Mauna is to turn our attention inward. As we tune into our inner space we are able to

Ensuring The Safety Of Harvests Essay
Ensuring the safety of harvests
Ensuring that drinks, food, and pharmaceuticals are safe for human consumption is one of the ways by
which photonics technologies enhance life. Food quality inspections and food safety have been
improved all thanks to the latest innovations in spectral imaging sensors. Direct real time monitoring
and ruggedized in or at line processing monitoring are now being done at high volumes. Headwall
Photonics CEO, David Bannon states that safe food supply should be maintained by improving
processing capabilities with proven technological advancements (Kelley 17). The USDAARS lab, the
USDA together with Headwall Photonics has combined efforts in an experiment to study the spectral
characteristics of crops by utilizing near infrared and shortwave infrared sensors.
In 2008, Headwall Photonics developed a new imaging system called the Hyperspec Starter Kit. The
kit has been customized for use by agricultural researchers. It enables them to combine the analytical
technology of fluorescence spectroscopy and reflectance (Kelley 17). With this kit, the use of
photonics has now been enhanced further. The kit could help to detect the levels of bruising in
vegetables and fruits, the quality of pharmaceuticals, and bacterial contamination (Smith, and Claes
Goran 74). Another photonic technological device aimed at improving food inspection is the
SAFEINSPECT, a handheld device courtesy of BaySpec. The portable device can be used to check
quality control,

My First Trip To Football
CARLISLE 28 EATON 20 USED ROSTERS FROM HUDL.COM
Last night my travels took me to Carlisle, Ohio to watch the hometown Indians host the Eaton Eagles.
This was my first trip to Carlisle and it would mark the first time since the 2015 season, that I have
watched the Indians. I would be seeing the Eagles for the first time ever.
I expected a much larger crowd but as many times this season it was not the case, but those who were
there got to see a good competitive game, that was entertaining especially from the defensive side of
things.
The Indians defense would set the tone early in this one, when Daniel Smith teamed up with teammate
Gage Smith, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Heading into the second quarter this one looked very even, even though the Eagles offense was yet to
soar, while the Indians offense had shown a glimpse of going on the warpath a couple of times.
Just twenty six seconds into the second quarter Moore fumble the ball and scooping it up and going
about fifty six yards for the score for the Eagles was Chip Parker. Parker easily outran the offense,
who looked like a fighter, who had just been tagged by a Ali right cross. The point after kick was
missed causing this to stay a 13 7 Eagles lead.
The Indians offense would work the ball down to the Eagles thirty four yard line and from there
Chambers electrified the crowd, with a Archie Griffin like run, back when he was running for the
buckeyes. The point after kick gave the Indians the lead at 14 13, with 5:31left in the half. On the
drive the Eagles defense again had problems tackling and this really led to a lot of extra yards for the
Indians.
With 3:41 it appeared their was pass interference on the Indians receiver, but the ref said the ball was
tipped before the interference happened and this led to a interception by Moore on the pass thrown by
Ryan Venable. This play really seem to change the game and in my way of thinking the Eagles fought
hard but never overcame this call.
Defense was big again, with :27 seconds left in the half, when Moore was taken down by #54(Not on
the Eagles roster)

Vivian Sobchack
In Vivian Sobchack s The Address of the Eye: A Phenomenology of Film Experience she discusses the
consciousness ability to associate a visible representation of metaphorical constructions that humans
are accustomed to in everyday life can translate on the big screen. The images that one sees in
everyday life is manipulated according to the body and mind of the observer similar to the way
imagery in movies affects the viewer personally. Sobchack creates an interesting argument when she
speaks on the way new life such as an infantile or an unhuman figure such as a cat would understand
and process the visible world around them differently from a coherent mature being. Their point of
view differs being there is no previous representation, perception ... Show more content on

One must assume that the context of visual activity is familiar to the psychological state of a human
being there must be a consciousness there to create reasoning. For one to truly understand the visible
world one must adapt what they see. In Denis Villeneuve s Arrival Sobchack s theory on the way
visibility associates with reflexive consciousness agrees with the way humans interact with the world
around him. The example Sobchack uses about the young infant is prevalent when comparing the
Aliens and the relationship between humankind. The character Louise Banks has discovered that this
form of extra terrestrial life is forming a way to communicate with the humans that is not verbal but in
forms of symbols. In this scene viewers see her trying to decipher and record the alien calligraphy in
order to create an understandable language amongst the two species. There are several forms of
invisible conditions that happened to share metaphorical reasoning. Viewers learn through the film
that Louise learning the aliens form of communication is vital to the survival of both their kind. With
Louise being incapable of formulating a previous correlation to the symbols that viewers see as well
for the first time, the viewers and Louise are now infantile to the dramatic situation and the unknown

  • 2. Beethoven s Seventh Symphony Analysis Symphony No. 7 in A Major (Op. 92), completed in 1812, might have been one of Ludwig Van Beethoven s most popular pieces. The seventh of Beethoven s nine symphonies, its premiere concert (December 1813 in Vienna) was performed at a charity concert in order to benefit the soldiers who had been wounded a few months prior in the battle of Hanau. It was performed three times in ten weeks following its premiere. During the time of the symphony s premiere, Vienna was still distressed due to being taken over by Napoleon in 1805 and 1809 and yearning for victory; the audience at the premiere seemed to have loved the energy and beauty of the piece. The Seventh Symphony had been dedicated to both Count Moritz von Fries and Russian Empress Elisabeth ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Seventh Symphony itself can and has been described in many words and fashions. It s victorious, moving, energetic, powerful, and full of heart. The piece is known for its rhythmic devices (such as dotted rhythm and repeated rhythmic figures) and the celebratory emotion to it, in which makes listeners want to dance and burst into blissful joy. It involves four movements: 1. Poco sostenuto Vivace, 2. Allegretto, 3. Presto Assai meno presto (trio), and 4. Finale, Allegro con brio. The score includes two flutes, two oboes, two clarinets, two bassoons, two horns, two trumpets, two drums (in which are tuned to A and E, except in the scherzo where they are in F and A), and basses. The first movement is in A major, with repeated modulations between C major and F major. The second movement also includes modulations (originally in A minor with switches to A major) and the third movement is in F major. The first movement of Symphony No. 7 is noted for its long ascending scales as well as its applied dominants relative to its C major and F major modulations. The Introduction begins with a short A chord from the full orchestra. After eight bars, the piece has briefly entered the key of F major already and is now accompanied by scales of two octaves which begin softly, similar to the way a person creeps up and down a staircase. These scales repeat, gradually becoming louder and more extravagant. The third theme ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Gender And Politics James Joyce s Dubliners Gender and Politics in James Joyce s Dubliners At the turn of the 20th century, a young Irish novelist, James Joyce, released his first collection of short stories on Irish identity and what it means to exist in Ireland. In some of his most well known stories, you can see Joyce building a contrast between the men and the women in Irish society. One of his most well known short stories, The Dead takes a very explicit approach to gender politics as well as the idea of identity and race. Yet he is also paralyzed by his sense of moral superiority and what he believes he must represent. It ends with him being alone yet again. A character that contrasts Mr. Duffy s initially composed nature is Farrington in Counterparts whose anger towards his unrepentantly callous boss spreads through him and eventually infects his family. I arrived the night before and slept in my car and I could hear it pouring rain all night so I knew the course was going to be very muddy and slippery on at least Saturday. Pre race MC: The pre race MC both days was nothing special to write home about, he injected a littler of his humor to his speech, but it was pretty much the standard Spartan pre race speech that I have heard well over sixty times prior and at least for me, I get almost no motivation out of it. The course was very challenging, the trails were awesome and Norm and his team clearly worked hard to design it, the weather went from being from very warm to borderline cold and for some miserable, which only made for a more challenging race weekend, the bling is what it is and I am always happy to add more Spartan bling to my collection, the MC was average at best, but I am not sure I can blame the MC for that, the staff and volunteers where awesome and smiles all weekend under not so perfect conditions. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A SWOT analysis of using a merger to expand operations follows. A strength from performing a merger is the ability to acquire a company s unused debt. Some firms simply do not exhaust their debt capacity. If a firm with unused debt capacity is acquired, the new management can then increase debt financing, and reap the tax benefits associated with the increased leverage (Keown, 2005, pp. 23 4). Another strength is enabling Baderman Island to remove an ineffective management strategy or team. Baderman Island has the option to decide who stays with the merged company, and who is out the door. Often times, a weak management leading team is the problem the organization has not evaluated for its mediocre success. The merger of two firms can result in an increase in market or monopoly power. Although this can result in increased wealth, it may also be illegal. The Clayton Act, as amended by the Celler Kefauver Amendment of 1950, makes any merger illegal that results in a monopoly or substantially reduces competition. The Justice Department and the Federal Trade Commission monitor all mergers to ensure that they do not result in a reduction of competition (Keown, 2005, pp. 23 4). These kinds of women have been ostracized, demonized, and called all kinds of names simply for not fitting a uniform criterion. This exclusion of female outcasts is what Anne Sexton focuses on in her poem Her Kind. In it, she elaborates on the idea that society naturally shuns and persecutes all women that are deemed undesirable or nonconforming. In the first stanza, commas are overwhelmingly present and cause silences to appear throughout this whole stanza; for example, in line five, Sexton writes the following comma ridden line: lonely thing, twelve fingered, out of mind (5). Due to the slow way the poem reads, the narrator seems bored and or saddened by her isolation. Next, in the second stanza, though commas are much more present, these serve their purpose in lists, and arguably speed up the poem; this is most notably seen in lines 9 and 10 where Sexton writes the following: filled them with skillets, carvings, shelves, / closets, silks, innumerable goods. This shows the narrator s building cheerfulness and confidence in being herself. Finally, the syntax in the last stanza is that of complete sentences, and serves to show the narrator s final resolve to be self assured in her abnormality, revealed by the poem s last two lines: A woman like that is not ashamed to die. / I have been her kind (20 21). Since the poem ends ironically with the narrator s death being the moment she feels the most confident about herself, readers can only assume that this is Sexton s sardonic way of saying that self confident, nonconforming women are comparable to martyrs for their cause. The interview makes a good case of how a firm resolve and an unwavering determination for a cause can take a person a long way. Despite a lack of scientific academic education, Jane Goodall s work on the chimpanzees made revolutionary breakthrough in the field of understanding chimpanzee behavior. It was all made possible by her firm belief on her unconventional methods which academics in the field eyed with cynicism and felt was pointless. Such pessimistic outlook on her efforts from established academics did not blight her morale; instead she carried on with her methods of analyzing the chimpanzee population with full enthusiasm and self belief. ... However, it is questionable if the firm in Margin Call follows through with its role acting in the interests of society in its bleak predicament. Once it is revealed that there is a high probability of the firm being devalued beyond market capitalization, the employees of an unnamed company attempt to formulate a solution to the imminent crisis. Although there is some dissent from Sam Rogers, Head of Sales and Trading, CEO Tuld promptly decides to liquidate the firm s toxic assets onto the market. Despite the unanimous direction the firm moves in, there are various sources of internal tensions between the firm s employees in that they individually represent differing perspectives within the social context of the firm. Through the various rationales the executives possess as well as the relationships between the employees and the firm itself, Margin Call illustrates the conviction that although the role of commerce is to engender a certain lifestyle for the public, the executives in the firm have warped this belief into a justification for the extreme measures they lead the firm to take in the name of their profit and their survival. In the first scene of Margin Call, the social hierarchy of the firm is staunchly established as Will himself is nonchalant about the layoff because he holds a relatively senior position in the firm and it s evident that he has survived through other layoffs. Second Wave Feminism In The 1960s And 1970s Second wave feminism in the 1960s and 1970s, in conjunction with other social movements, built a foundation for much of the activist and intellectual work that followed. However, there was an assumption of whiteness in the second wave feminist movement as well as a prominence of heteronormativity, which blinded most of the populace to activist work done by women of color and lesbians. For example, there was a whole strata of work in lesbian and gay scholarship which date from the early 1970s which came out of the gay liberation movement. Spreadsheet is a computer application with functions that can improve the user s productivity in collecting, analyzing, and sharing tabular data sets. It displays multiple cells usually in a two dimensional matrix or grid making up of rows and columns. Each cell contains alphanumeric text, numeric values, or formulas (Wikipedia, 2011). It is widely agreed that problems with information security and managerial control over spreadsheet accuracy stem from the inherent nature of spreadsheet software. The first problem is the difference between making a spreadsheet simply appear on the display screen and constructing a well designed spreadsheet characterized by integrity and build in controls. This is particularly troublesome since once they are set up, spreadsheets may be used for an extended period of time and are often copied and distributed to others. If errors have been programmed into the spreadsheet s original version, they will affect the spreadsheet s output forever and be replicated and compounded each time the spreadsheet is reproduced (Busbin et al, 1990). Secondly, because spreadsheet software allows convenient alteration of value and design, without built in controls subsequent users may alter spreadsheet structure and thereby unknowingly compromise the integrity of the original design, and at the worst, could be flawed final decision making due to a reliance upon erroneous information (Busbin et al, 1990). The live performance of Dolly Parton s Just Because I m A Woman, shows artist sound, performance, and clothing for the traditional era. The sound of her song started softly and the pitch increased as it reached the chorus. Dolly Parton showed much more emotion and energy than Tammy Wynette portrayed in her song. In addition, Dolly Parton dressed conservatively wearing a dressy church dress as she performed. Parton, a traditional artist, represented the traditional era with her conservative clothing; however, she went against the norm when she began questioning gender roles. There is a shift from traditional to more modern country music. Modern artist Carrie Underwood shows a significant shift from traditional to modern country music in her 2005 song, Before He Cheats. Although there is not complete feminism inserted into her song, being a liberated woman is feminist. For example, Underwood reaps the benefits of the sexual revolution and the feminist movement without her music being feminist. This change in modern country music causes the lyric content, sound, stage performance, and artist clothing to also change from the traditional artists. There were species on the Galapagos such as insects and reptiles that resembled some species in South America, but were also different in very slight ways. Darwin began to wonder if species would travel to the Galapagos, and then adapt to their new environments over time. If two species came from a common ancestor, it would make sense for them to live together. For example, Darwin s finches he discovered on the Galapagos had differently sized beaks.
