Evolution Of The Declining Salmon Populations
Researchers believe that the declining salmon populations are mainly the result of the four H s,
harvesting habits, hydropower, habitat loss, and hatchery fish (Ruckelshaus et al., 2002, pp. 679).
Harvesting habits refers to the impact overfishing has on the salon populations (Ruckelshaus et al.,
2002, pp. 679). Every year, around 385,000 metric tons of Pacific salmon are caught by commercial
fisherman and with weak stock conditions, the natural life cycle of these fish cannot keep up (Knapp,
2007). Hydropower refers to the dams that currently block many rivers in the Pacific Northwest that
prevent salmon from reaching or returning from their native spawning grounds (Gore and Doerr, 2000,
pp. 40 41). This means that salmon cannot breed as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The second is the human management of salmon, including the harvesting and the hatchery fish. Both
these areas may require technical and non technical solutions, as described by Hardin.
Technical solutions, which Hardin claims do not solve tragedy of commons by themselves, currently
exist and are ever improving to mitigate environmental issues surrounding the depletion of
commercial salmon stocks. For example, new methods of allowing salmon to bypass dams are being
developed. Fish ladders and similar structure have been problematic in the past, sometimes killing
more fish than are allowed to pass (Waldman, 2013). Some methods try to more closely mimic a
natural river, while others involve modifications to existing dams to influence the movement of fish
(Schilt, 2007, pp. 307 315). However, the most beneficial course of action would be to remove the
dam entirely (Schilt, 2007, pp. 316 317). This, however, falls into the trap the Hardin describes with
the self defeating appeal to the conscience. Not using the river for hydropower would be foolish since
it is a source of power that is readily available, while continuing to use river only aggravates the
problem. The issues with habitat loss can also be partially solved through technical solutions.
Deforestation of surrounding areas can be reduced through turning to other sources of lumber. Run off
and other sources of contamination can be treated

How Did Beethoven Change The World
A deaf person composed beautiful music. Ludwig Van Beethoven, a deaf german composer was born

Romantic era. In his lifetime he changed the music to something more exciting and surprising from

what she did was that she stand up for her people in the bus and not giving her seatte to a white man.
One way that Claudette Colvin fought for her people was by refusing to give up her seat to the white
people in the bus. The news that a schoolgirl had been for refusing to surrender her bus seat to a white

Symbolism In Hester s Hypocrisy
The actions of a religion or cult contribute to their outer appearance. In this case, the actions of the
Puritan religion contribute to their hypocrisy through Hester s A. This is shown Through the
symbolism of the A, how the A was supposed to make her an outcast, and Hester s social status despite
the symbolism of the A. Before the effect of the A can be analyzed, the A s meaning needs to be
explained. Obviously, the A embodies the scorn of the town, as it wouldn t have been used as Hester s
punishment if it doesn t show the colonist s disdain. However, the A embodies so much more than
that. The events leading up to Hester s punishment, meaning Hester sleeping with Dimmesdale, were
born from passionate emotions such as love, happiness

Team Work
Introduction
In today s complex and ever changing environment, organization continue to experiment with new
forms of team development. Some of the most successful teams bring together employees with
different talents and perspectives. In this research report, my aim is to have a clear and deep research
on teamwork and how it affects businesses so that I can help Tina and Frank who is coming back from
overseas to start their own business. Before could anybody start their business, it is very important to
learn certain aspects. Team work is one among them. I have included some of the important
information I collected through my research in order to help Tina and Frank succeed in their business.
Findings Teams have become very common and effective since they have proven to be effective in
areas as cost reduction, developing new and innovative products, and improving quality (Effective
Human relation, 2008). Team development is supported, in fact, required by almost all managements
today, but still it may take quite a long time for the members to learn the task and activities and to fit
themselves in the particular environment. Team work may vary as the organization or company varies.
Team work involves a lot of important aspects such as relationships, cooperation, learning, leadership
etc. since a team works together in

Spouse A Case Study
1) Recommended Tax Filing Status
Spouse A has varying sources of income and given the characteristics of his personal and professional
life, he can claim a number of deductions. Owing to the fact that Spouse A and Spouse B have varying
sources of income, Spouse A would most ideally file the IRS 1040 form jointly with his wife s tax
returns. This is because a joint tax return would give them access to a host of deductions for which
they are eligible. These include earned income tax credits, American Opportunity and Lifetime
Learning Education Tax Credits, and Child and Dependent Care Tax Credit. Under joint filing, the
couple could exclude the income of $500,000 from the sale of their personal residence, while separate
filing would only allow a $250,000 deduction.
2) Rules on Income
a) Taxable and Nontaxable Income
Child support that Spouse B receives is not taxable since it is not considered income. Any form of
child support is not taxable. Alimony that is paid out by spouse A is deductible since it is going to be
taxed on the recipient of the alimony as income (John Wiley Sons, 2013).
b) Short term and long term capital gains or losses
A capital gain or loss is considered on the sale or the returns from an asset. There are short term
capital gains or losses that amount from the sales of an asset which are owned for less ... Show more

The amount that is eligible for taxation is the difference between the buying price of the stock and the
selling price (Zelenak, 2013). Given there is a capital gain, the resulting gain is taxed while a loss
makes the applicant viable for a tax deduction. The capital gains or losses usually arise when an
individual has sold off an asset at a profit. A salient example is the sale of the rental house that was
sold for a profit of $44,000. There are limits to a capital loss that can be reported ($3,000) given the
capital losses surpass the capital

The Influence Of Technique
Floyd Mayweather, Miguel Cotto, Austin Trout, Erislandy Lara, Shane Mosley, Amir Khan, and Julio
Cesar Chavez Jr are names that would appear on the resume of a hall of fame veteran on his way to
retirement, yet this resume belongs to a twenty seven year old with years left in the gas tank. Canelo
Alvarez isn t a perfect fighter; he lost against Floyd Mayweather, and people have criticized some of
his recent fights. Nevertheless, he deserves a lot more credit from the boxing community than he s
getting now.

In 2014, he decided to take on Erislandy Lara against his team s wishes and common sense. Lara was
a skilled boxer that was feared by most people in the junior middleweight division, but Alvarez
decided to take him on to prove he wasn t afraid to take a step up in competition.
As you all know, that fight didn t help Alvarez in the eyes of the public. He beat Lara in a close fight,
but that wasn t enough for the boxing community. Instead of being applauded for winning a close fight
with someone he could ve easily avoided, the dominant storyline was that Lara was robbed. Yes, there
was the ridiculous 117 111 score, but the fight was close enough for Alvarez to get the nod.
Nevertheless, the boxing community couldn t come to grips with the fact that a close fight doesn t
equal a robbery, so Alvarez didn t get the amount of praise Golovkin got in his recent close fight with
Daniel Jacobs.
The weirdest part of all of this is how the networks and media treat Canelo Alvarez. Alvarez is one of
the biggest pay per view stars in boxing. His fight with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. drew over 1 million
paper view buys, which is almost unheard of outside of Mayweather and Pacquiao. With numbers like
that, you would think it would be in the best interest of boxing to push Canelo Alvarez as the next all
time great. Alvarez brings in more money for HBO than any fighter in their catalog, yet they don t

Women In The Military During World War 1 Essay
World War marked the starting era for in the military. Due to the needed skills to the war effort and aid
soldiers into the battlefield, led the military establishment to call women into service. Although their
call to service was voluntary, held unequal treatment and no benefits, more than 12,000 women
enlisted in the war, and 400 nurses died during World War 1.
During World War, the only branches available to women were the U.S. Navy, U.S. Army and the
Marine Corps. Women served as mostly nurses in the active duty service, both in the Army and Navy
military branches, fields such as the Army Nurse Corps that was established in 1901 and in the Navy

Since during the World War 1, women held no form of presentation in the legislature. I gather what
was the first obstacle of why there was no women in the government before, reason for this was due to
their inability to vote. Women were not allowed to vote until 1920, a big factor to limited power and
representation in Congress. During the World War 1, important figures in the women s rights
movement help fight fighting for equality, Suffrage leaders Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Susan B.
Anthony, and Lucy Stone pushed for women to gain a new sense of power. The 19th Amendment to
the Constitution, granted women the right to vote two years after the war, Congress granting women to
vote was a step towards women in legislature. It marked a sort of way to change the political system
by voting to change the system. Voting is an essential tool to get women voices heard, the next step to
get more female representation in the government. Following the Ratification of the 19th Amendment,
granting women to vote, 2 years after, Rebecca Felton became the first women to serve in the U.S
Senate in 1922 for four years.
Although women were not allowed to vote during the World War 1, their successful work in World
War played an important impact for expanding American women roles in the military and developing
the military acceptance of women in women service

Children s Television
Think piece #1 Teletubbies has been a successful children s show. This show has been attracted to
children since its release date. Parents seem to think the contrary. It has lately been labeled as weird
and non productive. The show consists of Tinky winky, Laa Laa, Dipsy and Po. These creatures
resembled some type of aliens in a suit who live in an abnormal world composed of non existent
technology. This show seems to be the show that started the revolution to commercialization in public
television. Leaving aside the negative effects of children s television, TV learning is not a new
activity. Parents have busy lives, which makes it more and more tempting to let their children watch

The Heroine in A White Heron Essay
A White Heron was a beautiful story of the battles within a little girl in her
formative years in life. The story has a deeper meaning though, expressed in the
involvement of much symbolic representation. The author, Sarah Orne Jewett, paints a
vivid and descriptive image of the young heroine and her surroundings in the story.
I will try to primarily focus on the symbolism and representation in the story. I will also
mention the subtle references the artist made to the biggest struggle in a young persons
life self identification.
Sarah Jewett seemed to start the story off to a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This showed how much diction and speech alone establishes
much of the story base within itself.
Much of the story was given to personification of nature. Nature being so
close and dear to her was primarily expressed in her affection for the cow and the birds.
The author practically made the large tree in the story come alive. One statement says,
...the sharp dry twigs caught and held her and scratched her like angry talons, the pitch
made her thin little fingers clumsy and stiff as she went round and round the tree s great
stem, higher and higher upward (SOJ pg.436). The description and life she brings to the
story makes the narrative very interesting and readable.
The next chapter in the story becomes very fluid and poetic. One prose states,
Half a mile from home, at the farthest edge of the woods, where the land was highest, a
great pine tree stood... (SOJ pg. 435). As the story begins to smooth out, it enters into a
spirit of representation. A man who wishes to dominate and destroy all that Sylvia holds
dear, enters her life as a desired lover. The romantic prose and ideas in the story illustrate
even better what the author is feeling about the gray eyed child . One verse states, The
woman s heart, asleep in the child, was vaguely thrilled

Power Rangers Research Papers
Dean Israelite s Power Rangers movie is a tediously paced heavy handed attempt at rebooting a
franchise that was better left alone.
Summary
The film starts off centering around Billy (RJ Cyler), who is longing to finish a project his late father
started concerning an energy source at the base of a mountain in Angel Grove (his hometown). He
makes friends with Jason (Darce Montgomery), who he meets in Saturday detention and they agree to
meet up later that night. The deal was Jason would drive him to the site of the mountain in exchange
for Jason getting some help with his pesky house arrest bracelet he now has to wear. They eventually
make it to the location only to learn that some of the same teens who have detention on Saturday night
apparently like hanging out at a random mountain on Friday evening. We have Kimberly (Naomi
Scott) a cheerleader who has been ostracized, Trini (Becky G) a confused young girl who thinks she is
gay, and Zack (Ludi Lin) the bad boy, all seem to be up some shenanigans. Things quickly take a turn
when they hear an explosion and realize that it was Billy who causes it (apparently he brought some
dynamite with him). Amongst the rubble, the team discovers some power coins, and some new found
super powers. Little do they know that they set in motion events that will lead to them coming face to
face with the projection of an alien named Zordon (Bryan Cranston), a robot named Alpha 5 (Bill
Hader), and a gold driven villain named Rita ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

long gold fingernails looked equal parts painful and like something you would see at the mall.

Rhetorical Devices In Uptown Sinclair s The Jungle
The Jungle
By: Uptown Sinclair
The usage of Rhetorical Devices is in everything one listens to, watches, and especially reads included
by the author s in order to capture the audience s attention. Uptown Sinclair is a well known literary
writer that blossomed during the nineteenth century for the purpose to explain to society what wrong
situation was occurring with the meat industry. Sinclair uses a wide variety of rhetoric in order to
build a support system for his theme. If used well these devices strengthen and add more structure to
any prose. A few of the many well known rhetorical devices that are used by Uptown Sinclair are;
metaphors, similes, Rhetorical questions, Anadiplosis, personification, asyndeton, repetition, periodic
sentences, and symbolism.
Uptown Sinclair intentionally uses a literal style which allows the author to communicate on one
straight forward level. Allowing the author to be understood with the meanings of the primary words

The Road by Cormac McCarthy Essay
he Road, written by Cormac McCarthy was inspired by a trip he took with his young son to El Paso
Texas. He was imaging what the town would look like 100 years into the future and he though of fires
on the hill and then thought about his son s safety. McCarthy admitted to having conversations with
his brother about different scenarios for the apocalypse. For example, cannibalism, when everything is
gone, the only thing left to eat is each other. He made some notes about this vision of his, but didn t
act on it until a few years later in 2006, while in Ireland. He started and finished the novel and

The connection that the man feels with his son is sacred and throughout the novel the man makes great
sacrifices to allow his son to live on and have a future in a world that has gone dim. He shows his son
how to carry the fire , first with his help, and then, later, without him. The novel opens after some
unknown apocalyptic event has struck the entire world. Neither the man nor the boy is given a name;
this anonymity adds to the novel s tone that this could be happening anywhere, to anyone. McCarthy
also chooses to not use any quotation marks in dialogue. This was very interesting, but makes sense
because this is a post apocalyptic story, and the exemption of these punctuation elements might serve
as a way for McCarthy to indicate that in this new world, things of the old world like electricity,
running water, and humanity; no longer exists, or they exist in very scarce amounts. The first few
pages of the novel establish us in the scenery. The land is filled with ash and the remains of living
animals and vegetation. Many of the remaining human survivors have resorted to cannibalism,
scavenging the rubble of city and country alike for flesh. The father carries a revolver with him with
only two bullets inside. We assume that they are for him and his son if need be. We then find out the

Education And Poverty In Education
How does poverty affect educational opportunities? The impacts of poverty on children are wide
reaching and can prompt long term life struggles, particularly when young people don t receive a good
education. Poverty and education are inseparably connected, on the grounds that people living in
poverty may quit school, so they can work instead, which leaves them with a lack of literacy and
numeracy skills, which then causes them to not be able to advance in their careers. Their children,
thusly are brought up in a comparable circumstance years later, with little income and few options, but
to leave school and work. For the students living in poverty that do choose to stay in school have to
deal with the poor education offered near their home. Most high poverty, high minority schools will
receive significantly less state and local money than more wealthy schools, and students in such
schools will probably be taught by teachers who are unpracticed or teaching outside their specialties.
Studies have also been done about how physical and social emotional factors of living in poverty can
affect students cognitive performance in a detrimental way. There s a lot of reason that students
decided to drop out of school: little support from parents, lack of motivation, poor academic
performance. However, for low income students, the decision to quit school is more economic. These
students need to work to support their families. Urban Institute, using data from 2008 2012 American

Racial differences in social and economic outcomes all play a major role in the discrimination that we

Georgians classification of the New York boys as blacks. When Gus visited Warm Springs, he didn t

Helen Of Troy And Greek Mythology
Helen of Troy was the daughter of Zeus and Leda in Greek mythology. She has a twin sister named
Clytemnestra as well as her twin brothers Castor and Pollux (Dioscuri). Helen was considered to be
the most beautiful woman in the known world. As a young girl she was abducted by Theseus, who left
her in the care of his mother but Helen was later rescued by her brothers when they invaded Athens.
Many suitors tried to win Helen s hand after her return and eventually Menelaus brother of

Another theme was choices that were made; first Zeus chooses not to get involved with the matter so
he tells Paris to be the judge. Then Paris has to make a major decision on who to choose as the fairest
of them all. Each goddess starts bribing Paris with things that could change his life which makes it
harder for Paris to choose as he is deciding on his entire future depending on who he chooses. Paris
chooses Aphrodite meaning Paris wins the heart of Helen. Helen was under a spell by Aphrodite so
she had no free will to choose whether she wanted to stay or go with Paris. Paris took Helen and
unfortunately for many people that choice ended up causing thousands of deaths and the destruction of
Troy.
This myth is important to the ancient world as it was what started the Trojan War which went on for
10 years due to Paris taking Helen with him to Troy. The Iliad is the ancient source in which the myth

Purkindule Cell Membrane Analysis
Results
Light microscopic results
The cerebellar cortex of control adult rats showed that the architecture of the cerebellum with H E was
made up of molecular, Purkinje cells and granular layers. The molecular layer was formed mainly of
fibers with a few glial cells [basket cells (BC) and stellate cells (SC)].
Purkinje cells were arranged in one row and appeared pyriform in shape. The granular layer showed
tightly packed small rounded cells (Fig. 1). With toluidine blue (semithin sections), the cerebellar
cortex showed molecular, Purkinje cells and granular layers. Purkinje cells were of large pyriform
somata with clear vesicular nuclei and prominent nucleoli along the outer margin of the granular layer

Transmission electron microscopic results
Ultrathin sections of the cerebellar cortex of the control group showed normal ultrastructure of
Purkinje cells with the characteristic large size of the somata, a euchromatic nucleus, and a prominent
nucleolus. The cytoplasm was rich in organelles with rough endoplasmic reticulum cisternae,
numerous mitochondria, and free ribosomes (Figs 13 and 14). Granule cells showed a normal
ultrastructure with their rounded heterochromatic nuclei. The cell was surrounded by a shell of
cytoplasm showing intact strands of rough endoplasmic reticulum, free ribosomes, and few
mitochondria (Fig. 15).
The cerebellar cortex of the NS treated group showed no ultrastructural deviation from the control
group.

Essay The Political Ethos of the Civil Society
The Political Ethos of the Civil Society
ABSTRACT: Totalitarian political systems in the socialist countries of Eastern Europe destroyed and
repressed the civil society that used to exist in them. The authoritarian and totalitarian ethos was
formed under a powerful influence of ideologies of the communist parties and politocracy in these
countries so that the political ethos of politicians dominated the political ethos of the citizen. The
breakdown of the real socialism and its unsuccessful attempts to complete accelerated liberal
modernization of these societies caused turbulence of social values in addition to the general moral
chaos. The moral crisis has deepened; anomie increased as well as the society s inclination to commit

In the seventies of the twentieth century the term civil society was used by the opposition and
dissident groups in the socialist countries to denote the strategy of political fight against
totalitarianism by forming autonomous institutions beyond the state control and for the sake of
establishing a democratic society as opposed to the total state. By redefining the modern concept of
the civil society a new and contemporary concept of the civil society has been created as an alternative
to authoritarian socialism. Thus, a new practical and theoretical political paradigm has been set up for
explaining ways of the transition of socialist, authoritarian and stagnant societies into democratic and
civil societies which are able for self development and are willing to use the civilization achievements
of the developed societies as well as the achievements of social and political philosophy and
contemporary sciences.
The civil society is most often determined as autonomous pluralism of private and public activities,
beyond the state control, expressed in individual freedom, local and regional self rule, citizens
participation in public affairs and social movements as well as in cultural autonomy and free trade
unionism.
In the former socialist countries the civil society was destroyed and repressed by state measures. In
order to restore it, it is necessary to de etatize all

Sergeant s First Duty Day With D Squad
I am nominating Sergeant Jeff Prindle and Sergeant Chris Wells for Supervisor of the Quarter. I am
intentionally nominating them together because, as individuals, they are outstanding leaders; however,
as a team, they are unstoppable. Their leadership goes above and beyond that of their peers, together
creating a team of deputies that have received respect and attention from the community.
Sergeant Prindle s first duty day with D Squad was September 8, 2014. That day, our agency endured
the greatest loss imaginable. Effective and motivating leaders are essential to recovering from tragedy.
Sergeant Prindle worked effortlessly to ensure his deputies were cared for mentally and physically
even though he had just met most of them. Every new ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For those deputies who have shown interest in areas where he is less knowledgeable, he has contacted
other experienced deputies and supervisors and provided the opportunity for the deputies to work with
them. Sergeant Prindle shows that he is concerned with his squad s personal wellbeing too. When his
deputies have personal situations, he contacts them and offers his personal assistance. Sergeant Prindle
conducts himself in a professional manner and his leadership style gains the respect of his deputies.
His uniform is always clean, pressed and well fitted. His command presence is an example for others
to follow. He motivates his deputies by leading from the front, answering calls for service and
conducting traffic stops, while maintaining his administrative duties. He maintains a healthy lifestyle
and encourages his deputies to do the same. He is also an active member of the SWAT team and
encourages his deputies to seek out collateral duties to enhance their law enforcement career and
expand their knowledge. On his off time, Sergeant Prindle is also a leader in the Air Force Reserve,
currently holding the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Balancing two leadership roles while maintaining
physical fitness and a family is not an easy task, yet, he handles it with ease.
Sergeant Wells came to D Squad in October 2014. He also had previous leadership experience but was
new to leadership at CCSO. He immediately jumped into his

The Theory Of Ethical Leadership
Explanation of Ethical Leadership
The research of Thomas W. H. Ng and Daniel C. Feldman provides quantitative data, which validates
the effectiveness of Ethical Leadership through the meta analysis of 101 ethical leadership related
studies conducted over the last 15 years. Somewhat in nascent form, Ethical Leadership (Ng Feldman,
2015) is viewed as conduct predicated on exhibiting positive role mode actions while promoting moral
member conduct through collaboration, communication, and reinforcing behavior (Ng Feldman,
2015). Leaders who employ EL are considered to weigh their ethical values significantly during their
transactions with assigned team members. Furthermore, EL also suggests there is a correlation
between how well a leader assess their own values and beliefs prior to exercising referent and reward
power behavior.
Connection to Social Learning Theory
The genesis of EL precepts may have a cultural basis in either Eastern or Western philosophy. In terms
of theoretical impact, it may be impossible to determine which hemisphere has a majority stake
exactly. This may be due to the cultural differences in identification of self within the context of
popular religions such as Confucianism, Buddhism, Hinduism, and Judeo Christian beliefs (Ng
Feldman, 2015). Regardless, the majority of those leaders who demonstrated EL generally exhibited a
psychological motivation to be just. This need may have a basis in social learning theory and even
social exchange

Amory Blaine In F. Scott Fitzgerald s This Side Of Paradise
A significant part of F. Scott Fitzgerald s This Side of Paradise describes the time that the main
character, Amory Blaine, has spent at Princeton University. Through the portrayal of the several
characters, the novel shows that the years spent at Princeton either turned the students into a
homogenous mass or, on the contrary, prompted them to deviate from the crowd. A typical student
from the novel can most likely be described as a Princeton slicker (51). The slickers are predominantly
smart, well dressed and successful, but what truly draws the line between them and the other students
is the slickers sense of social values (40), or, in other words, their snobbishness. The very structure of
the college, with its clubs and societies ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The word conventionalize seems to fully capture the negative impact that the college may have on one
s core values, as later Tom himself is accused of being conventionalized (126) when Amory Blaine
thinks he is no longer standing against people (126). Amory, too, becomes disillusioned with the idea
of being a slicker , and this is reflected in the nonchalance he develops towards all of the student
organizations and in a shift in the objects of his admiration. As a freshman and a sophomore, Amory
was fascinated by of Dick Hornby, a perfect type of aristocrat (78) with an air of elegance and style.
As an upperclassman, however, Amory grew fond of Burne Holiday, an enthusiastic pacifist and
socialist who seemed too eccentric to the rest of the college community. Unlike Dick Hornby, who
attracted Amory s attention merely because of the impression he made in public, Burne Holiday
strucks Amory because of his intense earnestness (117) and the unique path he chose to follow. This
change in Amory s values thus proves that, in time, he, too, has overgrown the snobbishness and
superficiality of the Princeton s student community and became more

Using Video Games in the Classroom
Video Games could be used in the classroom for a wide variety of different subjects, ranging from
math, to science, to english and even in foreign language classes as many games that are made in
different countries are in that country s own language. Of Course games are almost always translated
into different languages so that people worldwide could play them but a foreign language teacher
wouldn t find it too difficult to get ahold of a copy of a game in a foreign language. Music classes
such as band or choir could even use video games such as Guitar Hero or Rock Band to teach their
classes about different types of music and different artists and to involve students more in playing
music and singing, this could even lead to some students entering a career in the world of music. A
Science class could use the wonderfully challenging puzzle game Portal to teach students about
physics, momentum and other gravity based mechanics. There are many different ways that video
games could be used in the classroom, schools just need to figure out the best ways to implement them
and make it work.
There are quite a few benefits to using video games in education, one big one being students would be
way more excited about learning through video games rather than through the standard way lessons
are taught in most schools today. If students are actually looking forward to a lesson than their
performance on the assignment is going to be greatly increased, students will actually want to

Early Life Of Horace King
Early Life Horace King became the most respected engineer and architect in Georgia and Mississippi
in the mid 19th century. He was born as a slave, and he defied so many odds such that in the end he
was one of the richest and respected freed slaves. His story was inspiration to the blacks, in that it
encouraged them to dream bigger despite the many challenges imposed on them. King was born in
8September 1807 in Chesterfield District, NC. King was born by mixed race parents; he had African,
European and Catawba descent (Nease). King learned to read and write at a small age. Even from a
small age, King believed in education and the fact that education could improve his life. Hence,
because he could not access formal education, he used every opportunity to learn. During his teenage
years, King became a proficient carpenter and a mechanic through apprentice. After he learned
carpentry and mechanics, he ventured into bridge construction. History does not have much
information on King until 19832 when he moved to Columbus, Ga. John Godwin purchased him in
1830 (Gibbons 56). Rumor has it that King might have been related to the wife of John Godwin,
which is why he bought him. However, because of King s zeal to learn new building and architectural
things, he developed a strong relationship with his master. Godwin himself was a contractor, but in the
end, people recognized King s work more than his. In 1824, a bridge architect called named Ithiel

American Ideal In The 1950s
Media and suburbs have defined and shaped American ideals in various ways, ranging from the ideal
family structure in America, the ideal appearance and behavior of individuals to the ideal social
arrangement and division in America.
Media defined the America dream as the ability of a family to live in suburbs and follow the gender
specific functions in American society. Through overwhelming representations of suburbia in media,
suburb living was shaped as an American ideal in the 1950s. Media portrays an ideal American home
life as one that involves home ownership in suburbs, which represented social status, guaranteed
family stability and happiness. Therefore, the lives of middle class families in suburbs have been
widely depicted in sitcoms ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The correlation between race and suburbs in America has been full of tension and exclusivity. In the
1950s, white flight, the migration of white people from city centres into suburbs, leaving behind the
black population in inner cities was common. This has contributed to a distinct spatial division
between the Anglo Americans and African Americans within the America. Being caused by the
existing income disparity, the minority African Americans, having a lower social economic status in
American, are mostly trapped in poverty cycle and are unable to afford housing ownership in suburbs.
Further aggravated by discriminative government policies towards the minorities, social division
within the country was made even more prominent. According to Haralovich, the FHA implemented
several strategies, in hope of establishing community homogeneity and stability. Protective covenants
were proposed to restrict racial mixing within neighborhoods (Haralovich, 1989). Loan applications,
accepted if submitted by whites, were rejected when filed by black families of similar standing whose
backgrounds were carefully screened to make sure they were in fact members of the middle class
(Maya MontaÒez, 2008). The city split in American was hugely caused by such deliberate racial
separatism. The measures that served to paint homogeneity within suburban neighborhoods

The Decision Tree Algorithms And Grows The Tree By...
This is a pedagogical algorithm, which extracts the rules in the form of decision trees. This is similar
to most of the decision tree algorithms and grows the tree by recursive partitioning. At every step it
stores a queue of leaves that can be further expanded to sub trees and this process is repeated until a
stopping condition is met. Traditional decision trees methods have a limited number of training
observations. So they only have fewer number of observations to decide upon the split and leaf node
class labels but on the other hand, Trepan re labels the original observations to the classifications made
by the network. And the relabeled data will be used for the tree growing process. Additionally it can
also add extra data points by mimicking the behavior of the network. It uses the network as an oracle
to answer the classification queries about the newly generated data points. This way it can make sure
that whenever a split node or leaf node class decision is made there are at least S_(min ) number of
data points. Where S_(min )is a user specified number. Whenever we generate new data points at any
particular node, we have to make sure that they satisfy all the constraints from root to the current
node. One of the approach to distribute the data points over a network is to employ uniform
distribution, but Trepan takes into account the distribution of data i.e. at each node it estimates the
marginal distribution of data. If the data at the input is continuous then it

Rudolfo Anaya s Bless Me, Ultima
In Rudolfo Anaya s Bless Me, Ultima, the author uses Tony s dreams as a way of displaying various
symbols. Three symbols that are used often are weather, water, and the Golden Carp. Weather is used
to represent conflict. Water represents cleansing, and rejuvenation. The Golden Carp symbolizes
religion and Tony s beliefs. Because dreams are not an exact mirror of reality, they become the perfect
tool for introducing symbolism. The author uses the dream as a way to access the recurring themes of
the book.
Weather affects the lives of everyone. When the weather turns foul, it makes life more difficult.

His desire is to be washed clean from the haunting memories if Lupito s death. Another reference to
water is the waters of baptism. In Tony s dream his parents argue about what water he was baptized in.
Oh please tell me which is the water that runs through my veins. (Anaya120) The waters of baptism
represent cleansing, but in the dream his parents argue over whether he was baptized with the holy
water of the moon, or the salt water from the oceans. This represents his parent s pulling him in two
opposite directions. Later in this dream Ultima explains to both of Tony s parents that in reality both
of their waters are the same. This shows that Tony is rejuvenated by the idea that he dose not have to
choose between one parent or another, but can take the best of both of them. Because of the water
Tony is able to live his life better. The final example of water being usedas a symbol is in one of
Tony s final dreams. He talks about his brother s livers, They cried in such pain for release that I took
their livers from the hook and cast them into the raging, muddy waters of the River of the Carp. Then
they rested, and I rested. ( Anaya 235) This quote shows that because Antonio can not stop his
brothers from their reckless wondering he instead casts their livers in to the river.

An Analysis Of Susan Douglas On Amateur Operators Focus On...
Historiography is the writing of the past. It is also the study of the way history events has been written
by historians with their perspective and interpretations. As everything is interpreted to each owns
perspective, some parts of history could have been skewed while being written with biases and
favoritism according to the authors. We all understand things slight differently according to how we
were raised, social and culture background, experiences, etc.
The reading by Susan Douglas on amateur operators focus on young men and boys who were
separated from regulation such as private firms, militaries, state, and etc. With the mindset of the ether
belonging to the people was a major step in the making of radio broadcasting. She also emphasizes
that American middle class boys saw the control and mastery of technology as a symbol of
masculinity. It was usually young, middle class, white boys and men who created their own stations.
She highlights that the appearance of the boy inventor hero was an important factor to the history of
radio because it offered information about wireless and inspired boys to play around with the
invention. Wireless work were tied with contemporary heroism and another reason were the ideas
offered by young men who experimented. Stories such as the ones about Willenborg began to increase
rapidly in numbers and opportunities in technology arose. Susan prioritizes Willenborg, the Americans
who invested in stock in wireless companies, constructed

herself, which was built from gold, silver, ebony and other stones. The temple brought in merchants,
kings, and sightseers, many of donated jewellery and other treasures to Artemis and her temple. Its
splendor also attracted many worshipers and pilgrims, strengthening the cult of Artemis (9). Since she

  • 2. Evolution Of The Declining Salmon Populations Researchers believe that the declining salmon populations are mainly the result of the four H s, harvesting habits, hydropower, habitat loss, and hatchery fish (Ruckelshaus et al., 2002, pp. 679). Harvesting habits refers to the impact overfishing has on the salon populations (Ruckelshaus et al., 2002, pp. 679). Every year, around 385,000 metric tons of Pacific salmon are caught by commercial fisherman and with weak stock conditions, the natural life cycle of these fish cannot keep up (Knapp, 2007). Hydropower refers to the dams that currently block many rivers in the Pacific Northwest that prevent salmon from reaching or returning from their native spawning grounds (Gore and Doerr, 2000, pp. 40 41). This means that salmon cannot breed as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The second is the human management of salmon, including the harvesting and the hatchery fish. Both these areas may require technical and non technical solutions, as described by Hardin. Technical solutions, which Hardin claims do not solve tragedy of commons by themselves, currently exist and are ever improving to mitigate environmental issues surrounding the depletion of commercial salmon stocks. For example, new methods of allowing salmon to bypass dams are being developed. Fish ladders and similar structure have been problematic in the past, sometimes killing more fish than are allowed to pass (Waldman, 2013). Some methods try to more closely mimic a natural river, while others involve modifications to existing dams to influence the movement of fish (Schilt, 2007, pp. 307 315). However, the most beneficial course of action would be to remove the dam entirely (Schilt, 2007, pp. 316 317). This, however, falls into the trap the Hardin describes with the self defeating appeal to the conscience. Not using the river for hydropower would be foolish since it is a source of power that is readily available, while continuing to use river only aggravates the problem. The issues with habitat loss can also be partially solved through technical solutions. Deforestation of surrounding areas can be reduced through turning to other sources of lumber. Run off and other sources of contamination can be treated ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

His Six String Quartets, published in 1801, demonstrates complete mastery of that most difficult and cherished of Viennese forms developed by Mozart and Haydn. Beethoven also composed The Creatures of Prometheus in 1801, it was a popular ballet that received 27 performances at the Imperial Court Theater. While composing his great works, Beethoven was struggling to come to terms with a terrible news, one that he desperately tried to hide. He was going deaf. In this case, the actions of the Puritan religion contribute to their hypocrisy through Hester s A. This is shown Through the symbolism of the A, how the A was supposed to make her an outcast, and Hester s social status despite the symbolism of the A. Before the effect of the A can be analyzed, the A s meaning needs to be explained. Obviously, the A embodies the scorn of the town, as it wouldn t have been used as Hester s punishment if it doesn t show the colonist s disdain. However, the A embodies so much more than that. Team development is supported, in fact, required by almost all managements today, but still it may take quite a long time for the members to learn the task and activities and to fit themselves in the particular environment. • 7. Spouse A Case Study 1) Recommended Tax Filing Status Spouse A has varying sources of income and given the characteristics of his personal and professional life, he can claim a number of deductions. Owing to the fact that Spouse A and Spouse B have varying sources of income, Spouse A would most ideally file the IRS 1040 form jointly with his wife s tax returns. This is because a joint tax return would give them access to a host of deductions for which they are eligible. These include earned income tax credits, American Opportunity and Lifetime Learning Education Tax Credits, and Child and Dependent Care Tax Credit. Under joint filing, the couple could exclude the income of $500,000 from the sale of their personal residence, while separate filing would only allow a $250,000 deduction. 2) Rules on Income a) Taxable and Nontaxable Income Child support that Spouse B receives is not taxable since it is not considered income. Any form of child support is not taxable. Alimony that is paid out by spouse A is deductible since it is going to be taxed on the recipient of the alimony as income (John Wiley Sons, 2013). b) Short term and long term capital gains or losses A capital gain or loss is considered on the sale or the returns from an asset. • 8. The Influence Of Technique Floyd Mayweather, Miguel Cotto, Austin Trout, Erislandy Lara, Shane Mosley, Amir Khan, and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr are names that would appear on the resume of a hall of fame veteran on his way to retirement, yet this resume belongs to a twenty seven year old with years left in the gas tank. Canelo Alvarez isn t a perfect fighter; he lost against Floyd Mayweather, and people have criticized some of his recent fights. Nevertheless, he deserves a lot more credit from the boxing community than he s getting now. How could a young fighter with a great resume be ranked lower among fans and media than fighters with less than stellar resumes? In 2014, he decided to take on Erislandy Lara against his team s wishes and common sense. Lara was a skilled boxer that was feared by most people in the junior middleweight division, but Alvarez decided to take him on to prove he wasn t afraid to take a step up in competition. As you all know, that fight didn t help Alvarez in the eyes of the public. He beat Lara in a close fight, but that wasn t enough for the boxing community. Instead of being applauded for winning a close fight with someone he could ve easily avoided, the dominant storyline was that Lara was robbed. Yes, there was the ridiculous 117 111 score, but the fight was close enough for Alvarez to get the nod. Nevertheless, the boxing community couldn t come to grips with the fact that a close fight doesn t equal a robbery, so Alvarez didn t get the amount of praise Golovkin got in his recent close fight with Daniel Jacobs. The weirdest part of all of this is how the networks and media treat Canelo Alvarez. Alvarez is one of the biggest pay per view stars in boxing. His fight with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. drew over 1 million paper view buys, which is almost unheard of outside of Mayweather and Pacquiao. With numbers like that, you would think it would be in the best interest of boxing to push Canelo Alvarez as the next all time great. I gather what was the first obstacle of why there was no women in the government before, reason for this was due to their inability to vote. During the World War 1, important figures in the women s rights movement help fight fighting for equality, Suffrage leaders Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Susan B. The 19th Amendment to the Constitution, granted women the right to vote two years after the war, Congress granting women to vote was a step towards women in legislature. This show has been attracted to children since its release date. Parents seem to think the contrary. It has lately been labeled as weird and non productive. The show consists of Tinky winky, Laa Laa, Dipsy and Po. These creatures resembled some type of aliens in a suit who live in an abnormal world composed of non existent technology. This show seems to be the show that started the revolution to commercialization in public television. Leaving aside the negative effects of children s television, TV learning is not a new activity. The story has a deeper meaning though, expressed in the involvement of much symbolic representation. The author, Sarah Orne Jewett, paints a vivid and descriptive image of the young heroine and her surroundings in the story. One statement says, ...the sharp dry twigs caught and held her and scratched her like angry talons, the pitch made her thin little fingers clumsy and stiff as she went round and round the tree s great stem, higher and higher upward (SOJ pg.436). The description and life she brings to the story makes the narrative very interesting and readable.

  • 17. Power Rangers Research Papers Dean Israelite s Power Rangers movie is a tediously paced heavy handed attempt at rebooting a franchise that was better left alone. Summary The film starts off centering around Billy (RJ Cyler), who is longing to finish a project his late father started concerning an energy source at the base of a mountain in Angel Grove (his hometown). He makes friends with Jason (Darce Montgomery), who he meets in Saturday detention and they agree to meet up later that night. The deal was Jason would drive him to the site of the mountain in exchange for Jason getting some help with his pesky house arrest bracelet he now has to wear. They eventually make it to the location only to learn that some of the same teens who have detention on Saturday night apparently like hanging out at a random mountain on Friday evening. We have Kimberly (Naomi Scott) a cheerleader who has been ostracized, Trini (Becky G) a confused young girl who thinks she is gay, and Zack (Ludi Lin) the bad boy, all seem to be up some shenanigans. Things quickly take a turn when they hear an explosion and realize that it was Billy who causes it (apparently he brought some dynamite with him). Amongst the rubble, the team discovers some power coins, and some new found super powers. • 21. Education And Poverty In Education How does poverty affect educational opportunities? The impacts of poverty on children are wide reaching and can prompt long term life struggles, particularly when young people don t receive a good education. Poverty and education are inseparably connected, on the grounds that people living in poverty may quit school, so they can work instead, which leaves them with a lack of literacy and numeracy skills, which then causes them to not be able to advance in their careers. Their children, thusly are brought up in a comparable circumstance years later, with little income and few options, but to leave school and work. For the students living in poverty that do choose to stay in school have to deal with the poor education offered near their home. Most high poverty, high minority schools will receive significantly less state and local money than more wealthy schools, and students in such schools will probably be taught by teachers who are unpracticed or teaching outside their specialties. Studies have also been done about how physical and social emotional factors of living in poverty can affect students cognitive performance in a detrimental way. There s a lot of reason that students decided to drop out of school: little support from parents, lack of motivation, poor academic performance. However, for low income students, the decision to quit school is more economic. These students need to work to support their families. Urban Institute, using data from 2008 2012 American ... • 28. The Theory Of Ethical Leadership Explanation of Ethical Leadership The research of Thomas W. H. Ng and Daniel C. Feldman provides quantitative data, which validates the effectiveness of Ethical Leadership through the meta analysis of 101 ethical leadership related studies conducted over the last 15 years. Somewhat in nascent form, Ethical Leadership (Ng Feldman, 2015) is viewed as conduct predicated on exhibiting positive role mode actions while promoting moral member conduct through collaboration, communication, and reinforcing behavior (Ng Feldman, 2015). Leaders who employ EL are considered to weigh their ethical values significantly during their transactions with assigned team members. Furthermore, EL also suggests there is a correlation between how well a leader assess their own values and beliefs prior to exercising referent and reward power behavior. Connection to Social Learning Theory The genesis of EL precepts may have a cultural basis in either Eastern or Western philosophy. In terms of theoretical impact, it may be impossible to determine which hemisphere has a majority stake exactly. This may be due to the cultural differences in identification of self within the context of popular religions such as Confucianism, Buddhism, Hinduism, and Judeo Christian beliefs (Ng Feldman, 2015). Being caused by the existing income disparity, the minority African Americans, having a lower social economic status in American, are mostly trapped in poverty cycle and are unable to afford housing ownership in suburbs. Further aggravated by discriminative government policies towards the minorities, social division within the country was made even more prominent. According to Haralovich, the FHA implemented several strategies, in hope of establishing community homogeneity and stability. Protective covenants were proposed to restrict racial mixing within neighborhoods (Haralovich, 1989). Loan applications, accepted if submitted by whites, were rejected when filed by black families of similar standing whose backgrounds were carefully screened to make sure they were in fact members of the middle class (Maya MontaÒez, 2008). The city split in American was hugely caused by such deliberate racial separatism. The measures that served to paint homogeneity within suburban neighborhoods ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 37. The Decision Tree Algorithms And Grows The Tree By... This is a pedagogical algorithm, which extracts the rules in the form of decision trees. This is similar to most of the decision tree algorithms and grows the tree by recursive partitioning. At every step it stores a queue of leaves that can be further expanded to sub trees and this process is repeated until a stopping condition is met. Traditional decision trees methods have a limited number of training observations. So they only have fewer number of observations to decide upon the split and leaf node class labels but on the other hand, Trepan re labels the original observations to the classifications made by the network. And the relabeled data will be used for the tree growing process. Additionally it can also add extra data points by mimicking the behavior of the network. It uses the network as an oracle to answer the classification queries about the newly generated data points. This way it can make sure that whenever a split node or leaf node class decision is made there are at least S_(min ) number of data points. Where S_(min )is a user specified number. Whenever we generate new data points at any particular node, we have to make sure that they satisfy all the constraints from root to the current node. One of the approach to distribute the data points over a network is to employ uniform distribution, but Trepan takes into account the distribution of data i.e. at each node it estimates the marginal distribution of data. If the data at the input is continuous then it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Three symbols that are used often are weather, water, and the Golden Carp. Weather is used to represent conflict. Water represents cleansing, and rejuvenation. The Golden Carp symbolizes religion and Tony s beliefs. Because dreams are not an exact mirror of reality, they become the perfect tool for introducing symbolism. The author uses the dream as a way to access the recurring themes of the book. Weather affects the lives of everyone. When the weather turns foul, it makes life more difficult. His desire is to be washed clean from the haunting memories if Lupito s death. Another reference to water is the waters of baptism. In Tony s dream his parents argue about what water he was baptized in. Oh please tell me which is the water that runs through my veins. (Anaya120) The waters of baptism represent cleansing, but in the dream his parents argue over whether he was baptized with the holy water of the moon, or the salt water from the oceans. This represents his parent s pulling him in two opposite directions. Later in this dream Ultima explains to both of Tony s parents that in reality both of their waters are the same. This shows that Tony is rejuvenated by the idea that he dose not have to choose between one parent or another, but can take the best of both of them. Because of the water Tony is able to live his life better. The final example of water being usedas a symbol is in one of Tony s final dreams. He talks about his brother s livers, They cried in such pain for release that I took their livers from the hook and cast them into the raging, muddy waters of the River of the Carp. Then they rested, and I rested. ( Anaya 235) This quote shows that because Antonio can not stop his brothers from their reckless wondering he instead casts their livers in to the river. ... Wireless work were tied with contemporary heroism and another reason were the ideas offered by young men who experimented.
