Theme Of Government Control In V For Vendetta
In Both James McTeigue film V for Vendetta and Kurt Vonnegut s 2BR02B short story, In both texts
authors presents a Fraudulent government which has control over its society. In 2BR02B the
government runs the Federal Bureau of Termination gas chambers where the suicides occur. V For
Vendetta tells a story about a revolutionary character who battles to ruin, and in the long run
overthrow the apparently rightist governmentthat tenets England. James McTeigueand Kurt
Vonnegutuse characterisation, symbolism and setting to show government control over society.
Characterisation
In the film V for vendetta , author James McTeigue has displayed how the government has
enforced people to believe that freedom equals chaos, which is what the main character V wants to
expose to the nation. There is one important scene which discusses freedom it is during V s speech
to the nation, which he exposes the lies created by the government and urging people to fight
against.
V for Vendetta demonstrates rebellion against injustice through the main character V. He was a
casualty of illicit genetic testing by the government with an end goal to assist their insight about
the human body s capacity to survive epidemics. V was the only one left standing and was able
escape from the torture. His hatreds then turned into vengeance. He declared to bring justice to
the nation and overthrow the injustice of the government. Kurt Vonnegut s also maneuvers the
story to show the main character Edward wehling as the victim to the government regime.
Wehling lives in a cutting edge United States where age and illnesses were vanquished and there
were no detainment facilities, slums, challenged people, poverty, or wars. The population was at
a controlled 40 million yearly. Edward wehling attributes of being overruled come to show when
he was holding up in the hospital, arranged to give his granddad to the Federal Bureau of
Termination keeping in mind the end goal was to give one of his three kids a chance to live.
While waiting, he converses with a painter who is painting a commemoration for a volunteer
whom had died, calling it The Happy Garden of Life .
A hospital orderly came down the corridor, singing under his breath before

DNA Based Conviction Case Study
The first DNA based conviction in the United States occurred shortly after in 1987 when the
Circuit Court in Orange County, Florida, convicted Tommy Lee Andrews of rape after DNA tests
matched his DNA from a blood sample with that of semen traces found in a rape victim (Calandro,
2005). It was two years later that DNAwas again ruled admissible in a Virginia state ruling. In the
years that followed the use of DNA in trial proceeding was not disputed. It was not until the
technique of obtaining the evidence was more largely used did the practice become questionable.
In the court case People of New York vs. Castro, it was the laboratory s procedures that were
called into question. This case was a landmark murder case commonly cited as the

A Life Worth Remembering
A Life Worth Remembering Significance can be defined as being worthy of attention, and in a
world filled to the brim with more than seven billion people, it can be difficult to decipher who
is actually worthy. There are many different qualities and aspects to look at, and there may be a
lot of controversy surrounding the topic, depending upon who is determining the significance;
there is no questioning the fact that individuals come with varying opinions and in response to
this, it can be very challenging in choosing who is worthy of attention. In addition, it also raises
the question of what the qualities are that signify importance to the world. In today s world,
these qualities are very mixed and significance comes in many differing categories. A specific
category that comes into play is centered around individuals who have made a difference in the
world of music. Music carries a lot of weight due to the gift it gives to the world; especially
today, many people use music as an outlet, as something that keeps them going, as something to
make everything wrong, right again. There are many different genres and with each genre comes
specific names that hold significance. An exceptional example of this would be a woman who
made a name for herself in jazz music, a woman by the name of Ella Fitzgerald. Ella Fitzgerald was
born on April 25th in 1917 in the state of Virginia. Shortly after her birth, her father passed away
and with her mother, she moved to New York. It was

Thurairajah Thilakxshan 130937440 I.INTRODUCTION The Oil Sands of Alberta have been a
scene of controversy since the commercial production of oil began there in 1967. The Oil Sands
are underground deposits made up of a mixture of sand, water, clay, and bitumen (1). The oil
extracted from these reserves in Alberta is an integral source of energy used by Canadians on a
daily basis, from transportation to heating. The oil sands are also a major host for jobs not only
for the locals in Alberta, but also for all Canadians. Even with such apparent benefits, there are
many who... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore with the growing need for energy in the global markets America decided to loosen
trade policy regulations and export crude oil. America has been able to keep with Saudi Arabia s
absurd production of crude oil, causing the price of crude oil to drop. This constant production
of crude oil has brought prices to fall below $40 USD, causing many energy firms in Alberta to
make staff and budget cuts. The Alberta oil industry future is grim, as many companies have
already reduced spending plans and has predicted that they will be operating 57% less than
2014. This tremendous hit to the Oil industry has caused tremors in all other aspects of the
economy as the unemployment rate, immigration rate, and the real estate market worsens.
Alberta s economy is closely related to the oil industry, thus with the decline of crude oil prices
the economy is in an unstable state. III.DATA ANALYSIS Figure 3 1 Alberta s oil exports has
been increased from about $17.1 billion to $76.2 billion and the proportion of oil exports in
total goods exports has also been increasing between 2004 and 2014. In other words, oil exports
have become more and more important in Alberta s exports. Figure 3 2 From 2014, the crude oil
price has dropped in a sudden since the global economic downturn, oversupply of crude oil and the
appearance of new energy. Global economy fatigued, and thus the demand of crude oil was not

Peter Singer Is Wrong
Thesis: Singer is wrong, I do not have a moral obligation to donate to global poverty relief.
Explanation: Peter Singer s argument about global poverty can be broken down into three
distinct steps. The first is easily accepted. Nearly everyone can agree that starvation, lack of
shelter and a scarcity of medical care is a bad thing. His next is also frequently acknowledged. If
we are able to donate without sacrificing anything morally significant we morally ought to do so.
However, it s Singer s third ideal where he loses most people, including myself. In his third
premise he states that by donating to aid agencies, we can prevent suffering from lack of food,
shelter and medical care without sacrificing anything morally significant. But that arises the
question. What is considered morally significant? Moral significance varies from one person to
another making it nearly impossible to determine a universal constant everyone can follow. Along
with that, this premise speaks entirely towards a financial donation of giving money to aid
agencies. This again raises speculation and concern as to how much money is morally significant to
give away from one person to another.
Argument: My biggest concern with Singer s premise of having a moral obligation ... Show more

Now I don t disagree with this statement. I too think that poverty should be dealt with on an even
playing field. But the fact of the matter is that it is not. The United States, along with other wealthy
nations does not receive funds at the same rate as other nations. Poverty stricken countries in Africa
are the most common territories to receive aid. Therefore, this argument becomes insignificant. If
we are to be treating poverty on the global scale, each person dealing with poverty should be
granted, not just the extremely poor

Increased Military Spending During the Cold War Brought...
The increase in military spending is another argument that caused stagnation in the Soviet Union
during the period. Brezhnev spent huge amount of money in the defense sector and according to
Blanchard Froot et al. (1994) the share of defense spending in GNP was 12% in 1960 70, and
increased by 4% in 1975 80 to 16%, even though the country was is deep economic crisis. Brezhnev
increased military spending each year; even as the country needed the spending in other important
sectors, to boots the growth of the country, and caused low level of economic development.
Brezhnev increased the spending specifically on nuclear materials production plants, compared to
weapons. During this time in history both the superpower, USA and Soviet Union... Show more

The doctrine made it possible for the country to intervene in another socialist state (any Eastern
Bloc nation), internal affairs when the state social system and the states common interests were
threatened. In early 1968 began the Czechoslovak Communist Party under the leadership of
Alexander DubДЌek to introduce a series of reforms, including the abolition of censorship
(Fordham.edu, 2014). In response to these efforts, the Soviet Union launched a policy to combat
anti socialist forces (Wilde, 2014). The doctrine was first used in 1968 when the Soviet Union
invaded Czechoslovakia to end the Prague Spring (Fordham, 2014). The outcome of the invasion
by the Soviet Union made Czechoslovakia go back to communist control, even if it meant a third
world war (BBC, 2014). Mikhail Gorbachev s government denounced the Brezhnev doctrine in the
late of Soviet Union s life. Policy change does not necessarily come with leadership change. Russia
is a fundamentally different society than the Soviet Union. Communism is replaced by capitalism,
Russians can travel abroad and Internet revolution has long since reached the country. Russia
connoisseurs are comparing just the Putin controlled period, which the country is in now, with 18
years under Leonid Brezhnev from 1964 to 1982. Prime Minister Medvedev has talked a lot about
modernization, but stagnation is the word that recurs when talking

Though there are many different types of elephant across the world, they are most commonly
classified as either African or Asian elephants then from there are broken down into different
genuses. Growing ten to twelve feet in height and weighing up to eleven tons, the biggest of all the
elephants and the largest land mammal is my personal favorite, the African bush elephant. These
massive animals are found walking the plains and grasslands in southern and central Africa,
always on the move searching for food and watering holes. Surprising as it may be, these giants
are herbivores and with the less protein intake, these mammals must eat three hundred pounds
of vegetation, or more if pregnant, each day to be able to maintain their bodies. The gestation
period for these mammals is twenty two to twenty four months and after birth the baby will stay
with it s mother and her herd for six years, nursing for the first two of those years. After six years
the baby then is beginning to grow their tusks showing they re nearing adulthood and will either
join the herd, if a female, or go off on his own if a male. The young males after reaching the age
of ten will then be considered sexually mature and will then return to one of the herds if he hears

From Suffering To Overcoming By John Walsh
From Suffering to Overcoming Imagine taking your young child with you to run errands. You
race into Target and then are delayed as you search for the one item you need. In that one
moment, your child walks off to find the toy section. You begin to search around you and then
quickly become frantic. Your mind takes you places you have always feared. What if someone
has taken my baby? This scene and other similar to it are far too familiar in our world.
An estimated 797,000 children are reported missing in one year, however, only approximately
100 of them are stereotypical kidnappings (Martindale 6). Many times children that are reported
missing have either run away or cannot be found for a few hours. Only a handful are taken for
ransom and against their own will. The stereotypical kidnapping, which is very rare, involves
abduction by a stranger or slight acquaintance who detains the child overnight, transports him or her
at least 50 miles, holds the child for ransom or intends to keep him permanently, or kills the child
(Martindale 6). John Walsh, host of America s Most Wanted, criminal investigator, and loving
father of Adam Walsh has placed his mark on a world full of corruption and dangerous crimes.
After the murder of his son, John Walsh used this tragic event as a motivation and inspiration to
become passionate for the safety of others. He has been able to bring some safety to a world that

Donald Trump Self Destruction
The Next Big Self Destruction: Donald Trump
In America, politics are a large asset in the regular person s day to day life. Unfortunately, many
politicians are self consumed and are more worried about their ego, popularity, and power more than
the actual issues of America. In 2016, if I were to name off the characteristics: egotistical,
uneducated, inexperienced, arrogant, and outspoken, many people would name the leading
politician, and possible presidential candidate, Donald Trump. In fact, Donald Trump has been
compared to Lonesome Rhodes, from the 1957 movie A Face in the Crowd. Lonesome Rhodes and
Donald Trump share many characteristics, and the events and obstacles that Rhodes faced, are very

When either of these men are asked a difficult question or asked about their standpoint on a
specific topic, they will offer a short, simple answer, and then continue on a tangent about their
rating or their success. For example, Rhodes responded to an unrelated question by exclaiming
53.7% this morning, and I got another million! Likewise, Trump will respond to such questions
with a completely different hot topic to try and reel more people in by promising them the
impossible. Additionally, both these men are impulsive and indecisive, meaning they make
decisions on the run without out much logically thought, and then they change their minds often.
Rhodes displayed these characteristics by becoming someone he never said he would become,
and even his friend, Marsha, noticed and she called him out on it by saying You re becoming all
the things that you used to barfoon. Comparably, Trump used to be a democrat, as well as Hillary
Clinton s biggest supporter. Now, Trump is as conservative as one may get, and he has nothing
good to say about Hillary, which supports that he is indecisive. In the long run, the people of
America would not be able to trust these men with decision

The Importance Of Patient Privacy And Confidentiality
Patient privacy and confidentiality is one of the most important foundations when establishing a

advocate for their patients, provide safety, establish a trusting nurse client relationship, and protect

passage overviews how nurses maintain and promote the privacy and confidentiality of clients and
client information, the actions to take when confidentiality is breached, and how nurses ensure that
all information is collected, used, and disclosed on pertinent information. Understanding the
difference between privacy and confidentiality is the first step for providing ethical, safe,
compassionate, and competent care. Privacy entails the clients individual right to restrict any
information from being disclosed. People tend to only share information to health care providers
when they feel safe, and in control. Confidentiality, is the health care providers responsibility to

Prions Essay
Prions
Prions have been a mistery for scientists from the day they where discovered. Prions act like
viruses but they are not. Their structure and chemistry are unknown. They are believed to be
proteins but that is yet to be completely proved.
Prion stands for proteinaceous infectious particles . Prions are known to cause many diseases
involved with nervous systems like the brain. They are the ones that cause the well known mad
cow disesase in Britain and scrapie for animals. For humans they are known to cause a rare disease
in Papua New
Guinea called Kuru ( or laughing death ) which striked only the cannibals in the Highlander tribes.

This protein was found to be a glycoprotein (PrP): sugars are bounded to the amino acid, and it is
half the size of hemoglobin. PrP is the protein, but we can also find today PrPc (for cellular) and
PrPsc (for scrapie). Prp can be found in steak ( skeletal muscle) and also on the surface of
lymphocytes present in milk, but there is no evidence that the ingestion of this things can cause
disease in humans , but there is the still a risk.
Amyloid hypothesis.
Prions were found to form rods: long fibrils in brain tissues infected with scrapie and Creutzfeldt
Jacob disease. They believed that the fibrils can be distiguished from amyloid; that they represent a
filamentous animal virus causing scrapie and that they are elongated form of prion rods. The most
impotant aspect of these rods is the resemblance to amyloid. Amyloid plaques in the central
nervous system form considered accumulations of waste formed as some sort of a disease
process. This plaques are believed to be aggregations of prions in an almost crystalline state. The
production of antibodies to PrP allowed to demonstrate that amyloid plaques in the brain of scrapie
infected hamsters contain prion proteins. This amyloid plaques have been found on
Alzheimer s disease patients, which leads to the question if prions are related to that disease.
Although it has not been proven yet, the hypothesis is quite reliable. Can prions infectivity be
reduced or eliminated?

Essay On Racial Tension
There s Tension, But Why?
All you have to do is turn on the t.v. and you can tell there s a lot of racial tension, it has always
been there, but now there s one difference, the media. The media is playing a huge role in the
tension surrounding racial discrimination, by spreading it everywhere. Now that the tension s there
is there any particular race or culture or maybe a community that has the spotlight? Could there be
groups or people making it worse, would the media play a role in this too? Have there been groups
like this in the past? So what community does have the spotlight right now?
Right now most of the spotlight lies mostly on the black community. The spotlight lies on the
community, for the reason that a lot of tension is being aroused around the recent police shootings.
You see the majority of the tension is created through the argument that police shoot more black
Americans that white. But, according to The Washington Post there were 991 people shot and
killed by the police in 2015, out of those 495 were white and only 258 black people. So why is there

Lives Matter, or BLM. BLM gets involved with the movement by setting up protest s, but the only
problem with this is that these protests tend to get violent, or they disrupt daily life. An example of
this is one of the latest protests they got involved in was in Charlotte, where the got on the

Is Cheer A Sport Essay
Is Cheer a Sport?
Imagine you dedicate your life to an activity and you work hard at every practice, but it s not
considered a sport. Think about it. Many cheerleaders dedicate so much time and effort to do
their best and make cheer a sport. Cheer should be a sport. First off it s is a physical activity,
Second we get misjudged because of school cheer, and Last cheer is just as dangerous and daring
as any other sport. So what do you think?
To begin,The definition of a sport is an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an
individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment. Cheer Is a Physical

cheer shows lots of physical activity but school cheer is just pure energy. For example, What most
people get wrong is that they think of school cheer. School cheers main goal is to have the crowd
excited for high school sports. Which at the games they lead them in chants which I agree that is
not a sport. But you can t disagree with competitive cheer. Competitive cheerleaders goal is to win
first place. Just like gymnasts, they get awarded points for difficulty, technique, creativity and
sharpness. The best difficult amount or a stunt, the sharper and more sync the motions, the better
the score the team will get. Cheerleading is a team sport so without cooperation and

Social Movement Theory Framing, Political Opportunities,...
Do the three core concepts of social movement theory framing, political opportunities, and
mobilizing structures provide an adequate account of the emergence of social movements?
Social movements have been a fundamental part of civilization s freedom. It is the bridge that
takes social grievances to the polity. Without this connection, people would not be able to express
their concerns freely. A social movementis much more than just spontaneous uprisings with no
organization; they are a complex organization that require detailed analysis to understand where
they come from. In this sense, I would be devoting my time to analyze the different factors that
cause the rise and development of social movements. I will consider a social movement as
organized yet informal social entities that are engaged in extra institutional conflict that is oriented
towards a goal. These goals can be either aimed at a specific and narrow policy or be more broadly
aimed at cultural change (Christiansen, 1, 2009). Consequently, it would be naГЇve to propose any
explanation that relies solely on a single factor as the reason for the emergence of a social
movement. Any meaningful analysis here has to happen through the understanding of multiple
factors (both endogenous and exogenous), as well as their interaction, which collectively culminate
in any given type of social movement. More importantly, it is key to understand that every social
movement is the product of the previously mentioned

someone with a modern life style.
Positives: It is very eye catching, and appeals to the target audience. It enhances the dГ©cor and
would look great in a modern home. The rectangular top of this carcase table would be quite easy
to make.
Negatives: The legs are curved and would be quite hard to make. The legs would all have to be
the exact same in size and volume which would be extremely hard to do. The knob used to pull the

Historical Context Of Babylon Revisited
Knowing the historical context of a work is crucial to understanding both its general meaning and
its deeper essence. Often times, authors use their works as outlets to freely express their personal
feelings toward a social trend or issue. As such, the time in which a story is written can have a
strong influence on the message the author is trying to convey to his or her reader. Their personal
reflections can be asserted in many ways; among the most common being through the characters
themselves and their development throughout the work, the setting, and the implied themes.
An example of a work that is heavily influenced by the time period in which it was written is F.
Scott Fitzgerald s short story Babylon Revisited. Set in Paris during the 1920s, this work
delineates the story of a man named Charlie Wales who was at the pinnacle of his life when he
succumbed to greed, irresponsibility, and addiction. As a result of his carelessness, Wales
experiences a tragic downfall. He not only endures the death of his wife Helen, but he also loses his
material fortune, his reputation, and most importantly the custody of his daughter Honoria.
The time in which this story occurs the 1920s is vital to the plot. Dubbed The Roaring 20s, this
period is notorious for glamorizing lifestyles centered around materialism, gluttony, and self
absorption. The early 20th century brought about extreme social and political changes that
influenced the lifestyles and attitudes of the public.

Why Is Phonics Instruction An Integral Part Of The...
1.Explain what is meant by Explicit and Implicit phonics instruction. There are several approaches
to teach children to read. Explicit Phonic Instruction is build from part to whole; children first
receive instruction of the letters with associated sounds, and after they learn how to blend sounds
into the syllables and into the words. Implicit PhonicsInstructions moves from the whole to the
smallest parts: first, students are analyzing words and looking for common phonemes in a group of
words. After comparison they assume which grapheme to write and which phonemeto read.
Children are identifying new words by beginning and ending letters, or by context clue.

All these skills are very important to develop proficient decoding before children begin to master
more advanced skills such as, fluency, comprehension, vocabulary. And the phonic instruction gives
necessary foundations for reading success, but alone does not teach children to read. That is why it
must be a part of the balanced approach.
3. What is phonemic awareness? According to D Angiulli (2004), phonemic awareness is the
knowledge that words are made up of a combination of individual sounds and being able to hear,
recognize, and manipulate sounds. Phonemic awareness is very important for reading success.
Children who have difficulties with distinguishing and manipulating sounds usually have
difficulties in reading and spelling, and recognizing the link between print and sound. Phonemic
awareness include different skills, such as:
the ability to isolate and distinguish individual sounds
the ability to identify phonemes
the ability to classify similar sounds and recognize phonemic patterns (rhyming words, similarities
and differences in a group of words(
the ability to segment phonemes in a word
the ability to blend sounds together
the ability to delete phonemes
the ability to manipulate phonemes

Analysis Of Jason And The Quest Of The Golden Fleece
Jason and the Quest of the Golden Fleece
King Aeson was the ruler of Thessaly, married to Queen Polymede. Aeson was not a strong king,
and the land was in turmoil because it had lost its rarest gift, the Golden Fleece, which had been
stolen and taken to Colchis, at the other end of the earth. The Golden Fleece was given to
Thessaly as a gift from the gods, and the people believed that they would have good luck as long
as they had the fleece. Once it was gone, hard times fell in Thessaly, and the people blamed King
Aeson for not keeping the fleece safe.
The king and queen desired a son, and Jason was born. They noticed that Jason was bigger, better
looking, stronger, and more talented than other babies. This, they realized, meant that they had
been chosen as the parents of a hero. At this time, Polymede recalled a dream she had had months
prior, when Zeus had visited her and had an affair with her. Now she knew that this had been
reality, not a dream.
At that time, King Aeson s brother, Pelias, stole the throne from Aeson, who was not strong enough
to prevent the overthrow.
Fearing for Jason s life, he and Polymede pretended that the infant had died, and they had a
funeral ceremony. King Aeson was imprisoned by Pelias, and Queen Polymede became Pelias
wife, against her will. This was considered an act of incest and was not accepted by the people of
Thessaly.
Secretly, though, they sent Jason to Cheiron to be raised as a hero. Cheiron was a centaur (half

Reasons for financial distress and problems Williams is facing
a) Write off of investment in WCG
During the Tech Bubble, the whole telecom market that WCG was involved in suffered a lot of
problems due mainly to a large oversupply, as indicated by an estimated 2% to 5% of the fiber
optic lines which were only carrying traffic. The revenue of WCG eventually plummeted, wherein
prices of the lines decreased by more than 90% from 1998 and 2002.
In July 2002, the telecommunications sector was experiencing a lot of problems. WCG itself also
began to experience a lot of financial stress, and in hopes of supporting it, Williams converted
notes to shares, providing credit support of $1.4 billion of WCG s debt (which Williams listed as an
off balance sheet item). In the end, Williams took a one time accounting charge of $1.3 billion of
guarantees and payment obligations. The problems with WCG ended up affecting Williams as well,
causing Williams net income after extraordinary items to plummet.

Victorianism Versus Modernism

Victorianism in The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and Modernism in The Metamorphosis
Victorianism is about how the individual could improve the society. They believed that a good
individual could make the society better as a whole and therefore improve life. Victorians focused
on science and the desire for extremely realistic portrayal of life in both literature and art. Some
aspects of Victorian thinking were retained while others were discarded in a new movement called
Modernism. Modernists focus on the individual but have the view that humans are beings without
free will and that they do not look for guidance within them, but instead are driven by ... Show more

The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde showed people that being a good person is the best
thing to do for society and for the individual.
The reason Jekyll is a good example to show the Victorian qualities of science exploration and
the effects the individual has on the world is explained by Masao, In this society of respectables
Dr. Jekyll stands out as the very pink of the proprieties (Chap. 1). Although his studies, like those
of Faust and Frankenstein before him, tend toward the mystic and the transcendental (Ch. 10), he
still manages to maintain a considerable scientific reputation. And yet, despite Jekyll s social role
in fact, because of it it is Jekyll who brings for Mr. Hyde. (Masao 470 480) Masao explains why
Jekyll underwent his transformation and how science heavily influenced his thinking to try this
experiment. Masao also explains that science is possible through the well mannered people of the
time and their questioning of ways to improve society. The Modernism Period was about the
individual and that the individual could not really change society. The Modernist literary period
was marked by the reactions and sentiments towards global change and tragedy. The Modernist
movement began around 1890 and lasted to 1945. Now during this time the World Wars wreaked
havoc on the most culturally, technological, and industrialized parts of the world; which caused

Surface Area To Volume Ratio
Single celled organisms are small meaning that their surface area is big compared to their
volume. These organisms have a large surface area to volume ratio which means that they can
obtain different substances by diffusion through their relatively large plasma membrane. The
substances have to diffuse only short distances so they can diffuse at a faster rate and meet the
organism s needs. Multi cellular organisms have a much smaller surface area to volume ratio.
Many of their cells are not in direct contact with their surroundings so they cannot solely rely on
diffusion to supply all of their organs with oxygen and nutrients, as the distance from their surface
to all cells is too far. Humans are multi cellular and have special surfaces for... Show more content

Blood pressure is a measure of the pressure exerted by the blood against artery walls. Blood varies
with heartbeat strength, age, blood volume, health and fitness. Blood pressure is measured as two

The Synthesis Of Apomorphine Was Historically Accomplished...
Introduction: Apomorphine has been used as far back as 2000 BC. In 2000 BC the Mayan s
noticed that the bulb and root of water lilies gave a narcotic feeling, as well as acted as an
aphrodisiac and partial hallucinogen.1 Apomorphine belongs to a class of molecules called
aporphines which are present in water lilies, more specifically in Nymphaea caerulea and
Nymphaea ampla.1 While mild effects were shown in parts of water lilies, scientists wanted to
know what exactly caused these effects. The compounds were isolated and tested to determine that
apomorphine was the most active ingredient. The concentration of apomorphine was so low in the
plants that isolation was impractical so a synthesis was designed to investigate the properties of
apomorphine further; leading to apomorphine being used for Parkinson s disease, erectile
dysfunction, and most recently Alzheimer disease.
Synthesis2: The synthesis of apomorphine was historically accomplished by an acid catalyzed
rearrangement of morphine. This method typically had low and varying yields: anywhere from
0.6% to 46% yield. In 2008, a new synthesis was patented that shown yields as high as 55% to
70% yield. This new synthesis, scheme 1, uses phosphoric acid as the catalyst and phosphorus
pentoxide as a water scavenger water is the by product of the reaction and the phosphorus
pentoxide irreversibly binds to the water. The solution would then be heated to 90 100в„ѓ in an
inert atmosphere for two hours.

Scholarly Evaluation:
Lee (2007) in chapters 2, 8 and 10 examined the themes: advancing social justice by challenging
socioeconomic disadvantage; promoting ethnic/racial equality through empowerment based
counseling; and social justice and counseling ethics. Having a limited access to adequate funding
inevitably places individuals lives and future into an uncomfortable position where they have fewer
choices and access to benefits which can allow them to become frustrated. Ethnic minorities have a
higher level of poverty existing among them when compared to other ethnic counterparts.
According to the 2002 2003 U.S. statistics, children and women are at a higher risk than men of
being in poverty where women in comparison to males are at a disadvantage in terms of earnings
with their wage constituting 76% of the average wage for males. Consequently, being an ethnic
minority, being female, or being a child puts one at greater than average risk of living in poverty
(p. 17). Poverty has also been found to be correlated with several health and mental health
conditions.
Similarly, individuals of lower socioeconomic status experience higher rates of morbidity and

5.Customizing and Configuring PC Components The previous steps (1 thru 4) describe the various
components of the computers available in today s market and suggest the users for making an
efficient choice for customizing their PCS. This is the most important section of the document and
it deals with the assembling, configuration, and installation the PC components. Even though this
task cannot be detailed in a short document of this length, I will try my best to summarize the
process in a simplest possible manner. The assembling of the software components of PC can
easily be done by using some of the available online resources. Therefore, I have intentionally
excluded those steps to shorten the document. The users of this guide are urged to refer available

components. Whether the customizing is for improving the performance or for replacing a broken
component, making a mindset for customizing comes in first place. Users are required to buy

guide. Since, customizing requires the installation of one or more components based on the user s
preference and necessities, I am giving brief guidelines for installing the system unit followed by its

The Flamingo Rising Character Analysis Essay
Changes in life I just really don t like being the center of attention that much. It s kind of ironic.
Whether it means giving a speech in front of an audience or dancing on a stage, no one likes it.
However, in the novel, The Flamingo Rising, Larry Baker introduces Louise, a different type of
person that will do anything to be the center of attention. In Larry Baker s novel, Louise and her
brother, Abraham Isaac, start their first day at school at the age of twelve. Louise s limp becomes

control of the situation. In the novel, The Flamingo Rising, Larry Baker clearly shows that Louise s

It s apparent that Louise s identity has changed from being a shy and isolated girl to someone
that wants to have power. In addition, Louise s desire for attention affects how she acts at school
and at the Flamingo. On her first day at school, she asked her teacher is this where I sit? (38)
even though her teacher clearly stated that seconds ago. She did this not only to draw the
embarrassment away but to show something else, her figure. At school, she is considered one
of the most popular girls in school because she has breasts (38); the figure of a mature woman.
Also, Louise works the concession stand, which is located in the middle of the Flamingo. The
concession stand is the place where everyone goes to buy food, drinks, and basically anything
one can get at a movie theatre. Since this is located in the middle of the Flamingo, there is a lot
of attention there. And who works there? Louise does! It can be seen that Louise wants to be the
center of attention. Also, because Abraham and Louise are twins, they have to share some things.
One thing Louise hates to share is their birthday. When their birthday is on the same day, it
means that their party will be on the same day. One day will not be dedicated to Abraham nor will
one day be dedicated to Louise. In the novel, Louise is surprised to hear that Abraham asked her
what she will do on her birthday.

Essay On Gemstones
The Properties and Types Of Gemstones
Before we get further into this topic of properties and types let s make the basics clear. What
exactly is a Gemstone? Well, The answer is pretty simple a gemstone is mineral or organic
substance that is cut and polished and used as ornaments. Gemstones are also used as a part of
many supersticious beliefs eg. Birthstones, good luck charms etc. Now that we know what
gemstones mean we will now see how to identify the various properties of gemstones.
Properties of a Gemstone
A gemstone is purely classified under two properties they are 1) Optical Properties and
2) Physical properties.
All properties of gemstones be it physical or optical are derived from the three dimensional
structure and chemical properties ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is basically the inner structure of the gemstone and this property again deals with hardness, it can
determine how hard a gemstone is based on the crystal system it also helps to determine the
durability of the gemstones. The crystal systems are cubic, tetragonal, hexagonal, trigonal,
monoclinic, triclinic, orthorhombic.
8)Fracture
Although cleavage and fracture both deals with weakness in planes. Cleavage is only found in
certain gemstones whereas fracture is found in every gemstone and any direction apart from
cleavage that occurs only in one direction. A fracture is a break in the emstone not along the
cleavage plane. There are different types of fractures namely even uneven concoidal etc. ,ost
common in gemstone being concoidal mostly seen in corundum.
Now that we are also finished talking about the physical properties. Lets move on to the types of
gemstones.
There are basically two types of classification
1)Precious and semi precious gemstones
The precious gemstones are diamond, ruby, sapphire, emerald, topaz, garnet, opal, amethyst,
chrysoberyl, moonstone, turquoise, jade, amber and finally the most important one is pearl.

Citizen Kane Analysis
Citizen Kane is a movie that can be rewritten and implemented into any film created today. In
many ways, the storyline tells us more about ourselves than anything else and it relates to each
one of us who has ever wished for a blah blah life. From his flamboyant adventures to the blah blah
to his political agenda in his later years. Every film that came after Citizen Kaneowes a great deal to
Orson Wellesbecause of the way he used music, shadows and lighting, and special effects, which
without a doubt makes it one of the finest movies ever made. Some even call it the Mona Lisa of its
time because Orson Welles was the first to implement these techniques, which revolutionize cinema
forever.
It is believed that more than 50 percent of the film involved special effects. One of the many
reasons is because the film itself was made on a budget and the other being for the nature and scope
of its subject (The Denny Life) to keep cost down. One of the methods that revolutionize
cinematography was the introduction of a technique known as deep focus by Orson Welles. Deep
focus is the use of having everything in the frame even the background in focus at the same time
contrary to having only the people or object in the foreground in focus (The Denny Life).
Moreover, the deep focus technique requires the cinematographer to combine lighting, composition,
and type of camera lens to produce the desired effect. For example, Orson Welles use this technique

As Christians we are trying to re invent our beliefs, faith and righteous living to fit in the modern
world. We are trying to move with the tide, follow trends and changes. We are incorporating what is
in the world into Christianity. Christians are trying to hold on to what God expects us to do and
living righteously but it is getting harder as the world is changing.
There has also been a decline in spiritual enrichment in churches to its followers which has
allowed new religions and new age innovations to come up. Christians convert to these religions
trying to look for spiritual enrichment and fulfillment. Christian knowledge is being challenged
with scientific and worldly knowledge. There is no longer the idea of one truth, one correct body
of knowledge, (Bruce, 1996). In a world based on facts, Christians are continually looking for facts
of God s existence and they forget that faith believes in the unseen.
Christianity has been facing many obstacles from all the non religious world views. There has

Christianity is being questioned especially on issues of sex, divorce, marriage and birth control.

The Role Of Women In William Shakespeare s Macbeth
Women were thought as second class citizens and were not given a large role in society.
Throughout history, women have a limited amount of work they are permitted to do, and are
confined to doing housework. The role women had was teaching and taking care of the children at
home, cleaning the house, and cooking and having food ready for the husbands when they come
home after work. As evidence of characterization of female characters in Macbethby William
Shakespeare, the Elizabethan period had a lack of respect for women, but Shakespeare changed it
by having powerful, strong and independent female characters, like Lady Macbeth. Throughout
history, women have not had the same amount of right and respect as the men. Women were
regarded as the weaker sex , not just in terms of physical strength, but emotionally too (Sharnette).
According to Shakespeare s World/Stage, During the time of William Shakespeare, the majority
of women had very limited rights in England. Despite the fact that England was ruled by a female
monarch for over four decades, most women had little power over the direction of their lives
(Stephan). Once women were married, they were expected to bring a dowry, which is an amount
of money, goods, or property that the bride would bring to the marriage. After marriage Elizabethan
women were expected to run the households and provide children (Alchin). At the time of
Shakespeare, England was rule as a monarch, but the father and son still ruled

The Fur Trade Period in the Indian Territory
Images of rough faced, Grizzly Bear fighting, firewater drinking, yarn spinning, frontiersmen form
in the minds eye. Wild men for wild times! To a degree this image is true, but the fur trade was
more than wild men. The fur trade was a business, conducted by businessmen. The wilder men
living on the frontier chose trapping. Fashion created the fur trade as businessmen sought to satisfy
the tastes of designers and customers back east and in Europe, where furs and hides were
necessities for fashionable clothing and accessories. Fashions also affected the Indians who sought,

In 1824, due to escalating conflicts between Osages and eastern tribes, the government constructed
Ft. Gibson at the mouth of the Neosho on the Arkansas River, thus adding government settlers or
merchants to the mix of traders and changing trade practices in the area forever. Should peace be
restored, the different tribes would turn their attention altogether to hunting, consequently the
Arkansas River would become as valuable highway as the Mississippi and Missouri for the
transportation of furs and other articles of Indian trade, A.P. Chouteau.
As the Civilized Tribes were being relocated, the U.S. army sent expeditions west. While
preparing for one such expedition, Washington Irving in his journal A Tour of the Prairies
recounts the scene at Chouteau s trading post as; a few log houses on the banks of the river,
surrounded by a group of Osages simple in garb and aspect, a party of Creeks quite oriental in their
appearance, a sprinkling of trappers, hunters, half breeds, Creoles, Negroes, and other rabble of
nondescript beings between civilized and savage life .
The fur trade also took place along the Red River. Here no one trader dominated like the
Chouteau family of the three forks area. Independent traders established posts along the Red River
to trade with the Kiowas and Comanches and the Choctaws and Chickasaws. Josiah Doaks began a
small post near the junction of the Kiamichi and Red Rivers in 1821.

The significant microeconomic factors that may impact Nordstrom global expansion to China

How do William Blake and William Wordsworth respond to...
How do William Blake and William Wordsworth respond to nature in their poetry? The Romantic
Era was an age, which opened during the Industrial
(1800 1900) and French Revolution (1789). These ages affected the romantic poets greatly by
disrupting and polluting nature. Before the
Industrial Revolution, William Blake wrote about Songs of Innocence.
He also wrote Songs of Experience but after the Industrial
Revolution. William Wordsworth, on the other hand, continued on an optimistic route and ignored
the Industrial Revolution in his poems.
He instead wrote about nature only and its beauty. Previous Augustan poets were more controlled

Wordsworth talks about the mind being free and relaxed, Ne er saw I, never felt, a calm so deep!
The adjective
deep shows how immense the tranquility is. It also shows how the poem is personal, Ne er saw I.
He sets the scene in the morning, creating a feeling of calmness and peace, The beauty of the
morning; silent, bare. The noun beauty implies splendor and magnificence, showing the opposite
of what Blake writes about London . The adjective silent is also the opposite of what Blake writes in
London , How the youthful Harlot s curse . Wordsworth mentions the daffodils as people, When
all at once I saw a crowd. Similarly, he uses personification, crowd , to imply that everyone is
unified in nature. He uses color in his poem to indicate a deeper meaning, A host, of golden
daffodils. The adjective golden illustrates purity as well, therefore connecting it to innocence. The
noun host has a slight religious tone, which also relates to purity. The Daffodils has eight syllables
in each line. This makes the poem seem more complex than Spring .
In Spring , a lively tone is repeated throughout the poem, Merrily, merrily we welcome in the year.
The adverb merrily is repeated to highlight the positive tone of the poem and to make it last longer.
The pronoun we welcome in the year also shows us how everyone is unified in nature. Blake uses
colour to expand the meaning of the sentence, Come and

Exceptional cases : oblique intention D has a purpose other than causing the prohibited harm

She found that there had been a lot of avoidable effort made on paperwork procedures for boarding

The Pros And Cons Of Derek Bentley s Case
During the processes, there are some key people that will contribute to clarify what happened.
Among them, the police, the forensic service, the expert witnesses or witnesses testimony. Sadly,
while sometimes those are the ones who elucidate the crime, at times, their confessions may be
critical for the innocent person who is finally convicted because of their lies and corruption. The
role of the police is central to understanding wrongful convictions, because they gather the evidence,
they interview the suspect and they build the case for conviction . Meanwhile, forensic science is

DQ 1: Summarize the most important benefits and risks associated with diversification into global
markets.
There are benefits and there are risks associated with diversification into global markets.
Diversification into global markets means a company is seeking to have the control in one central
area instead of in many different areas because ultimately they are seeking to control their costs.
The main advantage of a global market is that a company does not need to make a lot of variations
of a product. They can instead just make one quality standardized product, which means it is easier
for the company to keep everyone on the same page in regard to any changes or innovations to their
products. Ultimately having a global market means ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

languages depending upon where it s aired, but they have also tailored the shows characters and

from Sesame Street on its interface. I found it pretty interesting that these two companies would go
to such great lengths to adapt to the local markets.

Gender Roles In Colonial America
Gender Roles in Colonial America
Gender Roles were very important in Colonial America. Nowadays, young women are taught that
they could grow up and be whatever they want but it wasn t always this way. In Colonial times
women were limited in what they could do or even say. Although they had limitations, without the
roles they played many people wouldn t have survived. Gender Roles were passed from generation
to generation with many limitations for women. Despite these limitations, many women were
comfortable in their roles. The lifestyles of these women have directly impacted today s society in
the form of the feminist movement.

On the contrary, some argue that women not only felt fulfilled by their roles in Colonial America,
but they even enjoyed them. They were not as impotent as they are made out to be. Without a
higher understanding of the Puritan culture, misconceptions have been made about the treatment of
women. Many women enjoyed their household tasks and cherished their time spent caring for
children. Post 1960s feminism has painted these women as miserable, oppressed, and discriminated
against. In her essay Leora Hall highlights a fact that many people may not know, Women were also
not required to submit to all men. A womanwas only called to submit to the decisions made by her
own husband, (Understanding Puritan Womanhood in Feminist America). Submission was a
common Puritan belief. The submission of a wife was apart of the divine will. The submission
of a wife was to honor her husband s role as the leader of the house, not to demean her or treat her
as a slave. Puritan relationships were built on love, which most often stems from respect. There
were no arranged marriages and couples courted before marriage. Courtship helped the couple test
the relationship and see if it had the potential to last. Most puritan women respected and loved their
husbands deeply, making it no problem for them to submit to them. Many say that Anne Bradstreet
was among these women. Her poem To My Dear and Loving Husband shows the depth of her love
and admiration for her

The effects of the fall of the USSR.
Objectives: to tackle and discuss the different effects and implications of the fall of USSR
I.Introduction
To better understand the implications and effects of the downfall of the USSR, we must first
take a look on how the state was formed along with its ideologies and principles as a governing
body, and what caused its downfall and demise as a state. Once established, we can hypothesize the
legacy left by the USSR be it good or bad.

Under Lenin, the country nationalized the country s industry particularly manufacturing and
banking, and distributed lands among his people, those who oppose his ideology and rule were
either executed or sent to concentration camps in a campaign known as the Red Terror. In 1924, 2
years after the formation of the Union, Vladimir Lenin died. Although the founder of the Union
died just two years after the formation of the Union, his legacy lived on, his cult of personality was
used throughout the history of the USSR to promote the political ideology known as Marxist
Leninism.
After Lenin s death, another revolutionary Bolshevik, Joseph Stalin gained power despite the
serious opposition of Lenin in his final years, this information was kept from the public, and
Stalin ultimately became a dictator in the Soviet Union, he focused on the rapid expansion of the
industrial power of the Union, making it one of the major economic power during the time,
although Stalin s plan was successful in its first 5 years as the Leader, his success would come
with a severe cost, millions were unjustly imprisoned in Labor camps known as Gulags, the crisis
of Famine was spreading throughout the Union killing millions, during the 1930 s Stalin
implemented a campaign known as the Great Purge to execute or exile anyone who is a potential

Factors That Affect Interpersonal Relationships
The Chilean Doctor Alejandra Godoy, states that there are mainly four types of attachments. On the
one hand, there is secure attachment which is positive, and on the other side, there are three
different styles of insecure attachment; the anxious, the avoidant and the ambivalent. The
attachment, specifically the anxious attachment, is an affective bond that is developed during the
first years of life, but some people keep it up to adults, which I strongly believe that negatively
affects their interpersonal relationships and their self esteem. Relationships consume a huge part of
the emotional energy to people with this type of attachment. In addition, it makes them easily
upset.. When something does not turn out as expected, the symptoms of nervousness, anxiety and
depression begin, so these people, who are victims of this strong bond, tend to suffer more in their
relationships and in their personal lives.
It is very common for people with anxious attachment to be very possessive in their relationships. In
general, they tend to confuse love with the need to belong to someone. The couple s relationship
consumes much of the emotional energy in people with this bond and makes them easily upset. If
this is what happens, it is not love what they really feel; it is the activated anxious attachment
system. Frequently, fears and doubts arise about the other on the relationship. A person with these
symptoms confuses love with his/ her attachment symptoms, stops having an independent

The Sociological Analysis Of Django Unchained By Quentin...
Django Unchained is a movie by Quentin Tarantino that goes into the life of a frees slave named
Django. Django with the help of a bounty hunter Dr. Schultz, set out to rescue Django s wife from
a brutal plantation owner she has been sold to. Django Unchained includes plenty of Karl Marx s
concepts of sociological theory including capital, labor exploitation, class struggle, materialistic
ideology, accumulation and Emile Durkheim s concept of crime.
KARL MARX CAPITAL Capital is instruments of labor which includes slaves under Karl Marx
s definition. Capital can be historically specific instead of just being materials. For example, a
black person is a black person until someone makes him a slave in certain conditions. In Django
Unchained, Django and his wife among many other slaves in the movie were made into slaves
by the people that took them from their homes in Africa and brought them to America. They
would not be slaves if these certain conditions had not happened but since they did, they became
instruments of labor and capital for their owners to sell and use as they saw fit. Many slaves in
the movie were nothing more than exchange value. Exchange value, at first sight, presents itself
as a quantitative relation, as the proportion in which values in use of one sort are exchanged for
those of another sort (Edles and Appelrouth 2015:76). In the movie Django s wife was to be sold
to him and Dr. Schultz for $12,000 because that was what Mr. Candie believed her to be

  • 2. Theme Of Government Control In V For Vendetta In Both James McTeigue film V for Vendetta and Kurt Vonnegut s 2BR02B short story, In both texts authors presents a Fraudulent government which has control over its society. In 2BR02B the government runs the Federal Bureau of Termination gas chambers where the suicides occur. V For Vendetta tells a story about a revolutionary character who battles to ruin, and in the long run overthrow the apparently rightist governmentthat tenets England. James McTeigueand Kurt Vonnegutuse characterisation, symbolism and setting to show government control over society. Characterisation In the film V for vendetta , author James McTeigue has displayed how the government has enforced people to believe that freedom equals chaos, which is what the main character V wants to expose to the nation. There is one important scene which discusses freedom it is during V s speech to the nation, which he exposes the lies created by the government and urging people to fight against. V for Vendetta demonstrates rebellion against injustice through the main character V. He was a casualty of illicit genetic testing by the government with an end goal to assist their insight about the human body s capacity to survive epidemics. V was the only one left standing and was able escape from the torture. His hatreds then turned into vengeance. He declared to bring justice to the nation and overthrow the injustice of the government. Kurt Vonnegut s also maneuvers the story to show the main character Edward wehling as the victim to the government regime. Wehling lives in a cutting edge United States where age and illnesses were vanquished and there were no detainment facilities, slums, challenged people, poverty, or wars. The population was at a controlled 40 million yearly. Edward wehling attributes of being overruled come to show when he was holding up in the hospital, arranged to give his granddad to the Federal Bureau of Termination keeping in mind the end goal was to give one of his three kids a chance to live. While waiting, he converses with a painter who is painting a commemoration for a volunteer whom had died, calling it The Happy Garden of Life . A hospital orderly came down the corridor, singing under his breath before ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. DNA Based Conviction Case Study The first DNA based conviction in the United States occurred shortly after in 1987 when the Circuit Court in Orange County, Florida, convicted Tommy Lee Andrews of rape after DNA tests matched his DNA from a blood sample with that of semen traces found in a rape victim (Calandro, 2005). It was two years later that DNAwas again ruled admissible in a Virginia state ruling. In the years that followed the use of DNA in trial proceeding was not disputed. It was not until the technique of obtaining the evidence was more largely used did the practice become questionable. • 4. A Life Worth Remembering A Life Worth Remembering Significance can be defined as being worthy of attention, and in a world filled to the brim with more than seven billion people, it can be difficult to decipher who is actually worthy. There are many different qualities and aspects to look at, and there may be a lot of controversy surrounding the topic, depending upon who is determining the significance; there is no questioning the fact that individuals come with varying opinions and in response to this, it can be very challenging in choosing who is worthy of attention. In addition, it also raises the question of what the qualities are that signify importance to the world. In today s world, these qualities are very mixed and significance comes in many differing categories. A specific category that comes into play is centered around individuals who have made a difference in the world of music. Music carries a lot of weight due to the gift it gives to the world; especially today, many people use music as an outlet, as something that keeps them going, as something to make everything wrong, right again. There are many different genres and with each genre comes specific names that hold significance. An exceptional example of this would be a woman who made a name for herself in jazz music, a woman by the name of Ella Fitzgerald. Ella Fitzgerald was born on April 25th in 1917 in the state of Virginia. Shortly after her birth, her father passed away and with her mother, she moved to New York. It was ... • 5. The Oil Sands Of Alberta Alberta Oil Industry EC239 section C Instructor: Sharif Khan GROUP MEMBERS Jiayu Weng 133004040 Liang Zhang 114161410 Jingsong Sun 114161870 Brent Bogdon 130177700 Thurairajah Thilakxshan 130937440 I.INTRODUCTION The Oil Sands of Alberta have been a scene of controversy since the commercial production of oil began there in 1967. The Oil Sands are underground deposits made up of a mixture of sand, water, clay, and bitumen (1). The oil extracted from these reserves in Alberta is an integral source of energy used by Canadians on a daily basis, from transportation to heating. The oil sands are also a major host for jobs not only for the locals in Alberta, but also for all Canadians. Even with such apparent benefits, there are many who... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore with the growing need for energy in the global markets America decided to loosen trade policy regulations and export crude oil. America has been able to keep with Saudi Arabia s absurd production of crude oil, causing the price of crude oil to drop. This constant production of crude oil has brought prices to fall below $40 USD, causing many energy firms in Alberta to make staff and budget cuts. The Alberta oil industry future is grim, as many companies have already reduced spending plans and has predicted that they will be operating 57% less than 2014. This tremendous hit to the Oil industry has caused tremors in all other aspects of the economy as the unemployment rate, immigration rate, and the real estate market worsens. Alberta s economy is closely related to the oil industry, thus with the decline of crude oil prices the economy is in an unstable state. III.DATA ANALYSIS Figure 3 1 Alberta s oil exports has been increased from about $17.1 billion to $76.2 billion and the proportion of oil exports in total goods exports has also been increasing between 2004 and 2014. In other words, oil exports have become more and more important in Alberta s exports. Figure 3 2 From 2014, the crude oil price has dropped in a sudden since the global economic downturn, oversupply of crude oil and the appearance of new energy. • 6. Peter Singer Is Wrong Thesis: Singer is wrong, I do not have a moral obligation to donate to global poverty relief. Explanation: Peter Singer s argument about global poverty can be broken down into three distinct steps. The first is easily accepted. Nearly everyone can agree that starvation, lack of shelter and a scarcity of medical care is a bad thing. His next is also frequently acknowledged. If we are able to donate without sacrificing anything morally significant we morally ought to do so. However, it s Singer s third ideal where he loses most people, including myself. In his third premise he states that by donating to aid agencies, we can prevent suffering from lack of food, shelter and medical care without sacrificing anything morally significant. But that arises the question. What is considered morally significant? Moral significance varies from one person to another making it nearly impossible to determine a universal constant everyone can follow. Along with that, this premise speaks entirely towards a financial donation of giving money to aid agencies. This again raises speculation and concern as to how much money is morally significant to give away from one person to another. Argument: My biggest concern with Singer s premise of having a moral obligation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Now I don t disagree with this statement. I too think that poverty should be dealt with on an even playing field. But the fact of the matter is that it is not. The United States, along with other wealthy nations does not receive funds at the same rate as other nations. Poverty stricken countries in Africa are the most common territories to receive aid. Therefore, this argument becomes insignificant. If we are to be treating poverty on the global scale, each person dealing with poverty should be granted, not just the extremely poor ... • 7. Increased Military Spending During the Cold War Brought... The increase in military spending is another argument that caused stagnation in the Soviet Union during the period. Brezhnev spent huge amount of money in the defense sector and according to Blanchard Froot et al. (1994) the share of defense spending in GNP was 12% in 1960 70, and increased by 4% in 1975 80 to 16%, even though the country was is deep economic crisis. Brezhnev increased military spending each year; even as the country needed the spending in other important sectors, to boots the growth of the country, and caused low level of economic development. The doctrine made it possible for the country to intervene in another socialist state (any Eastern Bloc nation), internal affairs when the state social system and the states common interests were threatened. In early 1968 began the Czechoslovak Communist Party under the leadership of Alexander DubДЌek to introduce a series of reforms, including the abolition of censorship (Fordham.edu, 2014). In response to these efforts, the Soviet Union launched a policy to combat anti socialist forces (Wilde, 2014). The doctrine was first used in 1968 when the Soviet Union invaded Czechoslovakia to end the Prague Spring (Fordham, 2014). The outcome of the invasion by the Soviet Union made Czechoslovakia go back to communist control, even if it meant a third world war (BBC, 2014). Mikhail Gorbachev s government denounced the Brezhnev doctrine in the late of Soviet Union s life. Policy change does not necessarily come with leadership change. Russia is a fundamentally different society than the Soviet Union. Communism is replaced by capitalism, Russians can travel abroad and Internet revolution has long since reached the country. Russia connoisseurs are comparing just the Putin controlled period, which the country is in now, with 18 years under Leonid Brezhnev from 1964 to 1982. This is all you recognize because this is all that is ever shown of Asbury. To the people who live on the west side, it is much different. These people see poverty stricken streets, hungry children, and crime all hours of the day. The west side of Asbury Park is overlooked by the municipal officials and gets little attention from other towns. Foodinsecurity is a growing concern in Asbury as well as other parts of the world. Fun, giving the kids a fun place to stay encourages them to come back time after time. 3. They provide supportive relationships. Cattle Giants Research Paper The Gentle Giants Though there are many different types of elephant across the world, they are most commonly classified as either African or Asian elephants then from there are broken down into different genuses. Growing ten to twelve feet in height and weighing up to eleven tons, the biggest of all the elephants and the largest land mammal is my personal favorite, the African bush elephant. These massive animals are found walking the plains and grasslands in southern and central Africa, always on the move searching for food and watering holes. Surprising as it may be, these giants are herbivores and with the less protein intake, these mammals must eat three hundred pounds of vegetation, or more if pregnant, each day to be able to maintain their bodies. The gestation period for these mammals is twenty two to twenty four months and after birth the baby will stay with it s mother and her herd for six years, nursing for the first two of those years. After six years the baby then is beginning to grow their tusks showing they re nearing adulthood and will either join the herd, if a female, or go off on his own if a male. • 10. From Suffering To Overcoming By John Walsh From Suffering to Overcoming Imagine taking your young child with you to run errands. You race into Target and then are delayed as you search for the one item you need. In that one moment, your child walks off to find the toy section. You begin to search around you and then quickly become frantic. Your mind takes you places you have always feared. What if someone has taken my baby? This scene and other similar to it are far too familiar in our world. An estimated 797,000 children are reported missing in one year, however, only approximately 100 of them are stereotypical kidnappings (Martindale 6). Many times children that are reported missing have either run away or cannot be found for a few hours. Only a handful are taken for ransom and against their own will. The stereotypical kidnapping, which is very rare, involves abduction by a stranger or slight acquaintance who detains the child overnight, transports him or her at least 50 miles, holds the child for ransom or intends to keep him permanently, or kills the child (Martindale 6). John Walsh, host of America s Most Wanted, criminal investigator, and loving father of Adam Walsh has placed his mark on a world full of corruption and dangerous crimes. After the murder of his son, John Walsh used this tragic event as a motivation and inspiration to become passionate for the safety of others. • 11. Donald Trump Self Destruction The Next Big Self Destruction: Donald Trump In America, politics are a large asset in the regular person s day to day life. Unfortunately, many politicians are self consumed and are more worried about their ego, popularity, and power more than the actual issues of America. In 2016, if I were to name off the characteristics: egotistical, uneducated, inexperienced, arrogant, and outspoken, many people would name the leading politician, and possible presidential candidate, Donald Trump. In fact, Donald Trump has been compared to Lonesome Rhodes, from the 1957 movie A Face in the Crowd. Lonesome Rhodes and Donald Trump share many characteristics, and the events and obstacles that Rhodes faced, are very similar to the ones that Trump has faced ... When either of these men are asked a difficult question or asked about their standpoint on a specific topic, they will offer a short, simple answer, and then continue on a tangent about their rating or their success. For example, Rhodes responded to an unrelated question by exclaiming 53.7% this morning, and I got another million! Likewise, Trump will respond to such questions with a completely different hot topic to try and reel more people in by promising them the impossible. Additionally, both these men are impulsive and indecisive, meaning they make decisions on the run without out much logically thought, and then they change their minds often. Rhodes displayed these characteristics by becoming someone he never said he would become, and even his friend, Marsha, noticed and she called him out on it by saying You re becoming all the things that you used to barfoon. Comparably, Trump used to be a democrat, as well as Hillary Clinton s biggest supporter. Now, Trump is as conservative as one may get, and he has nothing good to say about Hillary, which supports that he is indecisive. In the long run, the people of America would not be able to trust these men with decision ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When providing care, it is the licensed practical nurses ethical, and legal responsibility to uphold a clients privacy and confidentiality. Ethically, nurses are also obligated to advocate for their patients, provide safety, establish a trusting nurse client relationship, and protect client information. In relations to the CLPBC Professional Standards of Practice for Licensed Practical Nurses as well as the Entry to Practice Competencies for Licensed Practical Nurses; this passage overviews how nurses maintain and promote the privacy and confidentiality of clients and client information, the actions to take when confidentiality is breached, and how nurses ensure that all information is collected, used, and disclosed on pertinent information. Understanding the difference between privacy and confidentiality is the first step for providing ethical, safe, compassionate, and competent care. Privacy entails the clients individual right to restrict any information from being disclosed. People tend to only share information to health care providers when they feel safe, and in control. Confidentiality, is the health care providers responsibility to keep enclosed, and private. Amyloid hypothesis. Prions were found to form rods: long fibrils in brain tissues infected with scrapie and Creutzfeldt Jacob disease. They believed that the fibrils can be distiguished from amyloid; that they represent a filamentous animal virus causing scrapie and that they are elongated form of prion rods. The most impotant aspect of these rods is the resemblance to amyloid. Amyloid plaques in the central nervous system form considered accumulations of waste formed as some sort of a disease process. This plaques are believed to be aggregations of prions in an almost crystalline state. The production of antibodies to PrP allowed to demonstrate that amyloid plaques in the brain of scrapie infected hamsters contain prion proteins. This amyloid plaques have been found on Alzheimer s disease patients, which leads to the question if prions are related to that disease. • 17. Social Movement Theory Framing, Political Opportunities,... Do the three core concepts of social movement theory framing, political opportunities, and mobilizing structures provide an adequate account of the emergence of social movements? Social movements have been a fundamental part of civilization s freedom. It is the bridge that takes social grievances to the polity. Without this connection, people would not be able to express their concerns freely. A social movementis much more than just spontaneous uprisings with no organization; they are a complex organization that require detailed analysis to understand where they come from. In this sense, I would be devoting my time to analyze the different factors that cause the rise and development of social movements. I will consider a social movement as organized yet informal social entities that are engaged in extra institutional conflict that is oriented towards a goal. These goals can be either aimed at a specific and narrow policy or be more broadly aimed at cultural change (Christiansen, 1, 2009). Consequently, it would be naГЇve to propose any explanation that relies solely on a single factor as the reason for the emergence of a social movement. Any meaningful analysis here has to happen through the understanding of multiple factors (both endogenous and exogenous), as well as their interaction, which collectively culminate in any given type of social movement. More importantly, it is key to understand that every social movement is the product of the previously mentioned ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Often times, authors use their works as outlets to freely express their personal feelings toward a social trend or issue. As such, the time in which a story is written can have a strong influence on the message the author is trying to convey to his or her reader. Their personal reflections can be asserted in many ways; among the most common being through the characters themselves and their development throughout the work, the setting, and the implied themes. An example of a work that is heavily influenced by the time period in which it was written is F. Scott Fitzgerald s short story Babylon Revisited. Set in Paris during the 1920s, this work delineates the story of a man named Charlie Wales who was at the pinnacle of his life when he succumbed to greed, irresponsibility, and addiction. As a result of his carelessness, Wales experiences a tragic downfall. He not only endures the death of his wife Helen, but he also loses his material fortune, his reputation, and most importantly the custody of his daughter Honoria. The time in which this story occurs the 1920s is vital to the plot. The Golden Fleece was given to Thessaly as a gift from the gods, and the people believed that they would have good luck as long as they had the fleece. Once it was gone, hard times fell in Thessaly, and the people blamed King Aeson for not keeping the fleece safe. The king and queen desired a son, and Jason was born. They noticed that Jason was bigger, better looking, stronger, and more talented than other babies. This, they realized, meant that they had been chosen as the parents of a hero. At this time, Polymede recalled a dream she had had months prior, when Zeus had visited her and had an affair with her. Now she knew that this had been reality, not a dream. At that time, King Aeson s brother, Pelias, stole the throne from Aeson, who was not strong enough to prevent the overthrow. Fearing for Jason s life, he and Polymede pretended that the infant had died, and they had a funeral ceremony. King Aeson was imprisoned by Pelias, and Queen Polymede became Pelias wife, against her will. This was considered an act of incest and was not accepted by the people of Thessaly. In 2000 BC the Mayan s noticed that the bulb and root of water lilies gave a narcotic feeling, as well as acted as an aphrodisiac and partial hallucinogen.1 Apomorphine belongs to a class of molecules called aporphines which are present in water lilies, more specifically in Nymphaea caerulea and Nymphaea ampla.1 While mild effects were shown in parts of water lilies, scientists wanted to know what exactly caused these effects. The compounds were isolated and tested to determine that apomorphine was the most active ingredient. The concentration of apomorphine was so low in the plants that isolation was impractical so a synthesis was designed to investigate the properties of apomorphine further; leading to apomorphine being used for Parkinson s disease, erectile dysfunction, and most recently Alzheimer disease. Synthesis2: The synthesis of apomorphine was historically accomplished by an acid catalyzed rearrangement of morphine. This method typically had low and varying yields: anywhere from 0.6% to 46% yield. In 2008, a new synthesis was patented that shown yields as high as 55% to 70% yield. • 33. Citizen Kane Analysis Citizen Kane is a movie that can be rewritten and implemented into any film created today. In many ways, the storyline tells us more about ourselves than anything else and it relates to each one of us who has ever wished for a blah blah life. From his flamboyant adventures to the blah blah to his political agenda in his later years. Every film that came after Citizen Kaneowes a great deal to Orson Wellesbecause of the way he used music, shadows and lighting, and special effects, which without a doubt makes it one of the finest movies ever made. Some even call it the Mona Lisa of its time because Orson Welles was the first to implement these techniques, which revolutionize cinema forever. It is believed that more than 50 percent of the film involved special effects. One of the many reasons is because the film itself was made on a budget and the other being for the nature and scope of its subject (The Denny Life) to keep cost down. One of the methods that revolutionize cinematography was the introduction of a technique known as deep focus by Orson Welles. Deep focus is the use of having everything in the frame even the background in focus at the same time contrary to having only the people or object in the foreground in focus (The Denny Life). Moreover, the deep focus technique requires the cinematographer to combine lighting, composition, and type of camera lens to produce the desired effect. • 36. The Role Of Women In William Shakespeare s Macbeth Women were thought as second class citizens and were not given a large role in society. Throughout history, women have a limited amount of work they are permitted to do, and are confined to doing housework. The role women had was teaching and taking care of the children at home, cleaning the house, and cooking and having food ready for the husbands when they come home after work. As evidence of characterization of female characters in Macbethby William Shakespeare, the Elizabethan period had a lack of respect for women, but Shakespeare changed it by having powerful, strong and independent female characters, like Lady Macbeth. Throughout history, women have not had the same amount of right and respect as the men. Women were regarded as the weaker sex , not just in terms of physical strength, but emotionally too (Sharnette). According to Shakespeare s World/Stage, During the time of William Shakespeare, the majority of women had very limited rights in England. Despite the fact that England was ruled by a female monarch for over four decades, most women had little power over the direction of their lives (Stephan). Once women were married, they were expected to bring a dowry, which is an amount of money, goods, or property that the bride would bring to the marriage. After marriage Elizabethan women were expected to run the households and provide children (Alchin). At the time of Shakespeare, England was rule as a monarch, but the father and son still ruled ... Wild men for wild times! To a degree this image is true, but the fur trade was more than wild men. The fur trade was a business, conducted by businessmen. The wilder men living on the frontier chose trapping. Fashion created the fur trade as businessmen sought to satisfy the tastes of designers and customers back east and in Europe, where furs and hides were necessities for fashionable clothing and accessories. Fashions also affected the Indians who sought, silver, vermillion, glass beads, and clothe from traders. Each group depended on the other to supply the resources. ... Gibson at the mouth of the Neosho on the Arkansas River, thus adding government settlers or merchants to the mix of traders and changing trade practices in the area forever. Should peace be restored, the different tribes would turn their attention altogether to hunting, consequently the Arkansas River would become as valuable highway as the Mississippi and Missouri for the transportation of furs and other articles of Indian trade, A.P. Chouteau. As the Civilized Tribes were being relocated, the U.S. army sent expeditions west. While preparing for one such expedition, Washington Irving in his journal A Tour of the Prairies recounts the scene at Chouteau s trading post as; a few log houses on the banks of the river, surrounded by a group of Osages simple in garb and aspect, a party of Creeks quite oriental in their appearance, a sprinkling of trappers, hunters, half breeds, Creoles, Negroes, and other rabble of nondescript beings between civilized and savage life . The fur trade also took place along the Red River. Here no one trader dominated like the Chouteau family of the three forks area. The Romantic Era was an age, which opened during the Industrial (1800 1900) and French Revolution (1789). These ages affected the romantic poets greatly by disrupting and polluting nature. Before the Industrial Revolution, William Blake wrote about Songs of Innocence. He also wrote Songs of Experience but after the Industrial Revolution. The noun beauty implies splendor and magnificence, showing the opposite of what Blake writes about London . The adjective silent is also the opposite of what Blake writes in London , How the youthful Harlot s curse . Wordsworth mentions the daffodils as people, When all at once I saw a crowd. Similarly, he uses personification, crowd , to imply that everyone is unified in nature. He uses color in his poem to indicate a deeper meaning, A host, of golden daffodils. The adjective golden illustrates purity as well, therefore connecting it to innocence. The noun host has a slight religious tone, which also relates to purity. The Daffodils has eight syllables in each line. This makes the poem seem more complex than Spring . In Spring , a lively tone is repeated throughout the poem, Merrily, merrily we welcome in the year. On the one hand, there is secure attachment which is positive, and on the other side, there are three different styles of insecure attachment; the anxious, the avoidant and the ambivalent. The attachment, specifically the anxious attachment, is an affective bond that is developed during the first years of life, but some people keep it up to adults, which I strongly believe that negatively affects their interpersonal relationships and their self esteem.
