Breastfeeding Is The New Normal For Parents Of The...
Breastfeeding has become the new normal for parents of the millennium generation. With new
research and enhanced parent education, new mothers have developed knowledge in relation to the
benefits of breastfeeding for both mother and baby. Breastfeeding is linked to psychological benefits
such as a hormonal release to enhance bonding and attachment through mother and baby. At the very
least, breastfeeding may also reduce or prevent the likeliness of long term health complications.
Coincidentally, some mothers still struggle with thought of breastfeeding and the potential risks and
complications involved with formula fed infants. Let s review the good, the bad and ugly facts of
breastfeeding.
Mothers that choose to breastfeed have the advantage of several psychological, physical, and
behavioral changes related to hormonal release of oxytocin, nutrients for baby that cannot otherwise
be established in commercial milk, passive antibodies that are delivered through mothers and protect
the baby from pathogens and illnesses. Benefits also include bonding with their newborn to actually
reverting back to pre pregnancy weight and maintaining a healthy body weight and image. According
to, The Pediatrics for Parents Journal, studies shows breastfed children exhibit fewer behavioral
problems when they are older. In fact, the longer a child was breastfed, the fewer behavioral problems
were seen as those children aged.
Potential behavioral advancement associated with breastfeeding is

Take Away, By Jhumpa Lahiri And Pot Roast By Mark Strand
Around the world food is an international experience. It does not matter what a person s race is or
where they originated from, the culture of food is what brings people together. The diversity of food in
one s meal often brings back different memories from people s past. In the poem, Pot Roast, by Mark
Strand and the short story, Indian Takeout, by Jhumpa Lahiri both discuss about their experience with
food and present how food is significant to their culture.
Although Lahiri s and Strand s stories might seem different because of their style of writing they are
actually similar due to their fascinating experience, appropriate use of diction, and significant value of
food.

According to Alfred Rosa, concrete diction refers to words that stimulate some kind of sensory
response in the reader (Rosa 55). The description of her father sipping on mangoes allowed the reader
to feel the sensation of tasting the oozing juice of the fruit. In addition to that, her audience can also
sense the taste of the sweet, sticky oranges Lahiri s mother ate. Lahiri used specific diction when
describing the yogurt cups and her sister s Moghlai paraths. The reader can visualize what the author
saw by describing the red clay yogurt cups and the flat bread folded, omelet style Moghlai paraths.
Lahiri s choice of words gave an amusing effect on her readers to participate in what she sensed and
felt in her story. In the poem, Pot Roast, the speaker described his memory of his mother s pot roast
through simplistic, yet descriptive, poetic versus. Strand also provided his readers concrete and
specific diction in his poem. According to Strand to inhale the steam that rises from my plate...I
remember the gravy, its odor of garlic and celery, and sopping it up with pieces of bread (Strand 269).
The speaker presented the reader a visual of the hot steam rising from the meal. He also provided
supplies his readers with the sensation he felt when inhaling the aroma of the ingredients used in the
pot roast. Although Strand s poem is quite shorter than Lahiri s short story,

Relative Reactivities of Different Types of Hydrogen Atoms...
The purpose of this experiment was to determine the relative reactivities of different types of
hydrogen atoms toward bromine atoms. Although the tested compounds were all arenes, their
reactivities differ as they contain different types of hydrogens. The hydrogens could be of three
different types and could also differ in being bonded to carbons that are attached to a different number
of other carbons. The three different types of hydrogens that could be found were aromatic, aliphatic,
and benzylic. The first category is aromatic hydrogens, which are attached to sp2 carbons or are those
directly bonded to an aromatic ring. Aromatic hydrogens are the least reactive of the hydrogens in this
experiment. The second type of hydrogen being investigated is aliphatic hydrogens, which are found
bonded to an SP3 hybridized carbon which are bonded to another SP3 hybridized carbon. Aliphatic
hydrogens can also be broken down into further categories according to their number of substituents
into primary (less reactive), secondary (more reactive), and tertiary (most reactive). The third type of
hydrogens are benzylic hydrogens, which are bonded to a SP3 hybridized carbon that is bonded to a
benzene ring. Benzylic hydrogens are also broken into primary and secondary categories according to
their substituents, and are all more reactive than aliphatic and aromatic hydrogens.
What essentially happens in these reactions is that first, light breaks the bond between two bromine
atoms, from a

Rhetorical Analysis Of Ronald Reagan s Unplanned Speech

due to the disaster. Reagan instead had to give tragic news to American. President Ronald Reagan
gave a speech using rhetorical appeals, expressing his feelings, describing his unplanned speech, and
giving examples of how he wants his legacy to live on. Ronald Reagan s speech was emotional and
inspiring. He remembers those astronauts that were lost on the day of the disaster but also those who
were lost nineteen years ago. Ronald Reagan concentrates on reassurance of the nation which makes
the speech uplifting. On this cold January day, America

Parallels In Our World and the World of The Giver
The story in The Giver by Lois Lowry takes place in a community that is not normal. People cannot
see color, it is an offense for somebody to touch others, and the community assigns people jobs and
children. This unnamed community shown through Jonas eye, the main character in this novel, is a
perfect society. There is no war, crime, and hunger. Most readers might take it for granted that the
community in The Giver differs from the real society. However, there are several affinities between
the society in present day and that in this fiction: estrangement of elderly people, suffering of
surrogate mothers, and wanting of euthanasia.
The first similarity is that elderly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Birthmothers never even get to see new children (p. 22). Today, some women decide to become
surrogate mothers of other women s babies because of several reasons, such as sympathy for the
couples who cannot have children of their own or financial reason. However, to carry other women s
children gives surrogate moms great senses of responsibility. They writhe in not only soreness of
body, but also agony of mentality. The psychological pain by giving their babies to other women is
greater than that of body. Thus, some surrogate mothers refuse to give up their babies sometimes.
The third similarity is that some people want to embrace euthanasia in any society. Here is the release
in the community. The release is not a natural death, but the end of life by human being. Nevertheless,
some people want to be released from the community. He made a lovely good bye speech... He was

To prevent exposure to dangerous viruses and bacteria many people use sanitizers such as Purex or

Isopropyl Alcohol can kill 99.99% of all non spore forming bacteria types in under 30 seconds. In a
large clinical study in 2004 a test showed that placing hand sanitizer dispensers in an office resulted in
a 21% reduction in absences. In schools the test showed 51% less of absences, and 43% in college
dormitories. The standard for hand sanitisers used in clinics and hospitals is a alcohol concentration of
at least 70% but in U.S. stores hand sanitisers that have as low as 40% concentrations are available. In
the food industry workers are not allowed to use only alcohol antiseptics. Certain spore forming
bacteria, especially the endospores of gram positive bacteria are usually resistant to hand sanitizers as
well as soap and water but are visible in spore formation. Gram positive bacteria is impenetrable to
sanitizers because of its thick and well built plasma membrane which is thicker than most viruses and
fungus cell s membranes. This attribute gives great difficulty to alcohol antiseptics and is hard to
destroy the proteins inside the cell because of the thick wall. Most alcohol based sanitizers are
effective against most viruses and funguses better than simply hand washing with soap. Never the less
it is good to wash your hands frequently and not rely solely on alcohol based hand sanitiser. By
washing your hands with soap and warm water you are able to get rid of most of the bigger more
visible funguses and

Essay about My Definition of Success
Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.
Winston Churchill
Success is defined as the favorable termination of attempts or endeavors and the accomplishment of
one s goals. When I hear the word success, I think of my friend and my teacher, Mrs. Regina Kynes. I
consider her successful because she has a strong family, a favorable career, and she is the most
generous person that I know. Mrs. Kynes is respected and admired by those who see her as successful.
As a successful person, she has to overcome challenging circumstances, but the advice she has

She strives to divide her time between her family and her job, which helps her achieve balance in her
life. Sometimes, however, there are difficult people and challenging situations that come up in life that
can bring her down.
Kynes deals with challenging people and situations by taking the high road. She does what is right,
both morally and ethically, and when people start to frustrate her, she still acts respectfully towards
them. As she is being kind, to those frustrating people, she thinks, [I hope] that my actions and
reactions will influence them to make better choices, which goes back to advice her mother has given
her.
Kynes admits that the best advice she has ever received is from her mother: Always take the high road,
and Kill them with kindness, no matter who they are or what they have done. Kynes continues to
follow this advice to this day. Kynes added that what she takes away from her mother s advice is,
When you give to others, you will someday be rewarded. Pay it forward. Kynes has gained wisdom
from her mother, and she has continued to pass wisdom to others. Kynes s advice to others is Always
be yourself, love yourself first, do what is right ... all of the time, treat others with respect, love and
kindness, to lend a helping hand to those in need, and to work hard because things are free and your
work ethic shows great character!

Kobe Bryant recently signed a two year contract with the NBA franchise LA Lakers which for the
third straight year will make him the league s highest paid salary athlete at 30 million a year for the
next two years, with the next player making 7 million dollars less than him, which is the most popular
league player in LeBron James. Quarterback Drew Brees with his multi year extension deal with the
Saints makes him the NFL s high man just edging his counterpart quarterback Aaron Rodgers by just a
half million dollars in perspective. These leagues consist of salary capped multi year player option and
team option contracts unlike the MLB. The MLB is different in many ways as they able to offer multi
year contracts and no salary cap in which the 10 year contract of Alex Rodriquez worth 30 million
dollars per year has him tops in the league. This factor puts into perspective the difference in how the
professions pay charts differ from no salary cap in the MLB to guaranteed money caps for the NBA
and NFL alike. To understand the impact of such contracts, we focus on the collegiate athlete. To go to

Several factors as it relates to the Macro Environment can impact and influence Virgin Atlantic and its

Cosimo De Medici In The Renaissance Essay
Florence, located on the Arno River, north of the center of Italy has often been called the Cradle of the
Renaissance and was the home to some of the greatest artists and thinkers of the Renaissance. During
this time, Florence was the banking center of Europe. The wealth helped Florence become a cultural
leader during the Renaissance. One more reason for the success of Florence during the Renaissance
was the contribution of the Medicis. The Medicis dominated Florence for about 300 years and
acquired their wealth mainly through Florence s major industry banking. They used this wealth to
patronize artists, scientists and philosophers. One of the rulers who contributed a lot to the
Renaissance was Cosimo de Medici. Cosimo de Medici was the son of Giovanni de Medici and it was
he who established the Medici empire in Florence. Even though Cosimo de Medici was tyrannical,
corrupt, and power thirsty, his contribution to the Renaissance as a patron of art, libraries and
philosophy greatly outweighed his negative political actions.
Cosimo de Medici was corrupted and would do anything to get in power. One such example can be
seen by the relationship between the Medici and the Roman Catholic Church. The Pope (Official
leader of the Roman Catholic Church) himself opened a huge credit line, giving the Medici the purse

The Changing Role of the First Ladies Essay
First lady is the unofficial title bestowed upon the wife of the president of the United States. The role
of the president of the United States originated with George Washington and so did the role of the first
lady. During these times, the roles of women were usually limited to being homemakers and hostesses.
Women did not work outside the home and often were not seen as equals to men. Therefore, the first
lady s duties at that time consisted of hosting social events and keeping the house in which the
president lived in order. Through the passage of time, the role of women has undergone a
metamorphosis. Women are now on a more level playing field with men and often hold powerful
positions in the workforce. With this change, the role ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another influential first lady was Betty Ford. She was best remembered for her frankness and honesty,
which endeared her to the public. Years after she left the White House Ford would write in her
autobiography, I was an ordinary woman who was called onstage at an extraordinary time. I was no
different once I became first lady than I had been before. But, through an accident of history, I had
become interesting to people (Betty Ford). This statement summed up how Ford remained humble
about how popular she had become with the public. Early in her husband s presidency, Mrs. Ford was
diagnosed with breast cancer and had to undergo a mastectomy. She was open with the public about
what she was facing with the breast cancer. This was not the norm in Washington at the time. We were
in a position where my husband had been sworn into office during a very, very difficult time. There
had been so much cover up during Watergate that we wanted to be sure there would be no cover up in
the Ford Administration. So rather than continue this traditional silence about breast cancer, we felt we
had to be public (Betty Ford). This openness was well received by the public and led to a public
awareness about breast cancer, along with its detection and treatment. Betty Ford was often outspoken
and supported issues that she felt passionate about during her time as First Lady. She

How Did The Industrial Revolution Affect The...
In the pre globalization world fashion had a vertical trend. As geographic borders merged through
trade, travel, communication, and technology, information and ideas for fashion were transmitted.
Though international trade of fibers and textiles has influenced cultures throughout history, increasing
technology has resulted in diffusion of trends to the four corners of the globe. The Industrial
Revolution improved the quality of life in the lower class, causing fashion to become more
democratic. Technology allows items and people to travel worldwide faster than ever, and images and
information can be communicated instantaneously. However, to adapt to the fierce competitiveness of
the global market, the fashion industry has relocated production to developing countries with poor
working conditions; for democratization of fashion to be complete these inequities must change

Preferred Stocks
Background
Hearts R Us ( Hearts ), a young private research and development medical device company, sold $3.5
million of its Series A Preferred Shares on November 30, 2011 to Bionic Body ( Bionic ). This
transaction gave the company enough financing for their heart valve system which they hope will
revolutionize the way heart valve defects are repaired. In order to make this product available for sale
they need a final approval by the FDA. The shares sold to Bionic have a par value of $1 per share and
the purchase has given Bionic the following five rights:

In Thornton s guidance, he provides a series of tests that Hearts can use to decide how to treat the
preferred shares. The figure below belongs to Thornton s article.
1. Are the Preferred Shares redeemable?
Yes
2.Does the redemption feature provide a debt like return?
No
Although Preferred Stock purchase agreement includes a contingent redemption right, it immediately
fails the debt like feature test. Bionic did not lend money to Hearts, and Hearts does not incur interest
expense. Also, Conceptual Framework 6 suggests preferred stock also often has both debt and equity
characteristics, and some preferred stocks may effectively have maturity amount and dates at which
they must be redeemed for cash. This quote indicates that it is to the accountant s best judgement.
By following the the Thornton s series of tests and the codification, Team 6 recommends Alternative

Alternative A(2) According to the same ASC 25 16, Hearts could classify it in the debt section because

characteristic of the preferred share is Bionic s Rights. The board, mandatory conversion, contingent

The Rise of a Liberal Democracy
In the article Fareed wrote he defines democracy as simply a government with free and fair elections.
It is in essence rule of the majority, so if the majority is filled with ill intent then that is the direction of
the government. Basically an unfiltered voice for the masses; and it is not suitable by itself. Liberal
Democracy is described as what people think of today when they here of Democracy; it is a

order number 9981 which stated that the armed forces had to treat all races, colors religion and

Taking a Look at Correlational Studies
A correlational study is a quantitative research method, which there are two or more variables in
which the researchers goal is to determine a relationship using statistical data. The significance of this
approach is that is does not analyze or try to prove cause and effect type patterns or relationships.
Using this type of research study can determine behaviors in human actions or any other variables that
can be evaluated for a relationship. Using a correlational approach can be a stepping stone for further
experimental studies and is an important approach used in educational research.
Correlational Research
Correlational research is a type of study in which two non manipulated variables are measured to
determine if there is a relationship. This type of research observes the connection between the two
variables. Correlational research is often called Association research and has two basic purposes. In
the remainder of this text, the purposes, steps, threats and a comparison of correlational research will
be discussed.
There are two basic purposes of correlational research. The first purpose would be to help explain
human behaviors, such as behaviors in an Explanatory design. In this type of design the extents to

Analysis Of Angela And Adam s The Home With Angela s...
The case study of Angela and Adam describes a situation in which a Caucasian teenage mother,
Angela, does not appear to have a bond with her 11 month old son, Adam. According to Broderick and
Blewitt (2015) Angela and Adam live in the home with Angela s mother, Sarah. Angela s relationship
with her own mother is described as a bit dysfunctional as Sarah is reported to continue to be angry
with Angela for becoming pregnant in the first place. Sarah s anger has caused her to deny Adam s
father the ability to come to the home and play an active role in Adam s life, therefore putting more of
a strain on Angela, who has already had to drop out of high school in an attempt to take care of Adam
on her own. Angela has openly admitted to aggressive behavior towards Adam such as grabbing his
face and handling Adam in a rough manner. In return, Adam has reacted by being avoidant of his
mother and he is reported to not respond to his mother as an 11 month old child should and he is not
reported to have an appropriate bond with his mother.
In order to find the appropriate research based intervention, it is important to review the lifespan
developmental theories which may apply in this case.

Relationship Between Board Size And Firm Performance
.4 Discussion of Results
The results found in this study suggest that some of the relationships found during the literature
review can be confirmed. For example, the literature states that smaller boards of directors reduce the
coordination problems that lead to improved firm performance relative to larger boards of directors
(Kini et al, 1995; Yermack, 1996; Eisenberg et al, 1998). This study found significant empirical
evidence with the sample of FTSE 100 companies that this is the case which supports these findings.
It should be noted, that Haleblian and Finkelstein (1993) suggested sensibly that boards of directors
that are too small can also be hampered in their ability to monitor management particularly in complex
firms such as those ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This study instead found, in some cases when Tobin s q was used as the measure of firm performance,
that there could be a significant negative relationship between the proportion of external directors and
firm performance. No such relationship was found when ROA used as the measure of firm
performance. These results indicate that the significant relationship found might be spurious.
Also, the review of the literature found evidence that there should be a positive relationship between
shareholder concentration in the hands of significant minority shareholders but no such relationship
was found in the sample of FTSE 100 companies used in this study. Even after this study attempted to
correct for some data problems by removing those companies within the dataset where the
shareholding was concentrated in the hands of significant majority shareholders and their related
parties, there was no statistically significant relationship between shareholder concentration and firm
performance.
There are several possible explanations for the lack of strong relationships in this study. The first
concerns the choice of variables to be used as proxies for measuring firm performance. This study
chose to use the return on assets and Tobin s q and found that the results differed significantly
depending on the choice

Essay on Teaching Culturally Diverse Classrooms
America now is a very culturally diverse nation; most of the minority and immigrant population lives
in cities, which indicates that the public school classrooms in urban areas are full of versatile cultural
identities. According to the 2000 Census record, minority and immigrant populations has grown in
increasing numbers, and most of those people live in urban areas and attend public high schools; also,
the level of residential segregation still remains as high as in 1990, which proposes new problems for
immigrants and minorities. Monocultural schools are very rare and the global society is very

Research has been conducted and the study showed that, Latino students perceived that teachers
actions escalated disciplinary problems and believed that administrators used unfair and
discriminatory practices (90). Educators will never be able to teach students if the students perceive
them as being racist. The degree to which education for cultural diversity is realized depends on the
teacher s attitudes, knowledge, and behavior. They make the mistake of mismatching their own life
experiences and professional training. Le Roux realizes that an increasing diverse school population
encounters a mostly middle class teaching force that is inadequately prepared to manage the reality of
diversity in schools, and that is due to lack of knowledge of diversity (46). He also states that some
teachers make the mistake of generalizing about particular ethnic groups and cultural groups, as a
result of being exposed during training to information about culture; that is very dangerous in itself.
Educators also focus mostly on general characteristics of a group instead in a single individual, and
this is wrong because each individual is unique and should not be generalized by culture (Le Roux
46). Many cultural groups are entitled to maintain their traditional attitudes, values, and especially
languages; the lack of educational achievement and improvement is sometimes caused by the problem

Literary Sources From Online On Climate Change
Methodology
There were three major steps to our research. We gathered literary sources on climactic trends, spoke
to stakeholders, and then created maps to show our findings.
As a result of the fact Smith College does not have a plan on how to prepare in response to changes in
climate, and that most data which is readily available to the public focuses on large scale climate
change information, the project focused on presenting information specific to Smith College in a way
which would be accessible to the Climate Change Study Group which was formed in the fall of 2015
as well as anyone else that wished to understand the impacts of climate change that may happen.
To begin the project, literary sources from online on climate change were first explored. The group
met to work with Rocco Piccinino from the Smith College Young Library who helped in identifying
the best ways to use online data bases to find information. Three articles came to the forefront for use
as a result of the detailed information which the articles had on climate change as well as the
specialized information relating to the region. These articles were the National Climate Assessment,
NRDC Climate Change, and The Northeast Environmental Impact Assessment. With the completion
of the initial reading of these articles the pieces were then broken down in an attempt to find specific
information relating to specific climate impacts. Each member of the group highlighted five or more

Death is a phenomenon that many do not understand in America. America tells many that life should
be lived in a certain way in order to live life to its fullest before death comes creeping along. Humans
create this false pursuit of happiness before they leave this world. It leaves many in fear of death.
Religious beliefs teach humans to embrace death. If that is the case, then why is it that citizens in
north America still fear death when living a happy life in a first world country. Jack Kerouac is
inspired to write spontaneously through his travels in Mexico because of Tristessa s junk addiction and
how she embraces death even though her life is miserable. The romantic s wrote many poems about
death and many artists from that era embraced death because it evoked a high level of curiosity in
humans. Kerouac seems to embrace this notion too because it expresses an essential truth about the
human condition. He was inspired by a dove in Tristessa s house, Yet so much like Tristessa s eyes

In fact, both Hamlet and Macbeth are plays that involves in the existence of supernatural beings in
which later on causes major conflicts on the natural order throughout the play. According to Robin
Phillips, during the Elizabethan era, God, angel, man, animals, and plants represents the natural order
and balance in a society. It is believed that once disrupted, often times in Shakespearean plays, it is
most likely to have serious consequences in the future to regain the original structure (Phillips 2014).
For instance, in Hamlet the appearance of the ghost portrayed the demand of reconstruction of the
natural order. If thou hast nature in thee, bear it not. Let not the royal bed of Denmark be a couch for
luxury and damned incest. (Hamlet. I.v.81 83) the quote explains the corruption of the natural order in
which Claudius interrupted to satisfy his own deeds. Moreover, in Shakespeare s time, it is believed
that the disruption of the natural structure could cause serious catastrophe in the society that could
possibly tumble the balance in which God has designed. Furthermore, in Macbeth the appearance of
the three witches caused major catastrophes throughout the play, in which they manipulated Macbeth
to disrupt the natural order. According to this

Revenue ). Depending on how far some of the colleges go these universities could make an extra few
million also. None of the money the colleges or the association makes is given to the student athletes.
They are the ones that work so hard to help bring in all of the revenue for their schools and the NCAA
but get nothing in return. Besides bringing in revenue for their school if they prove that they are a
good collegiate school it will make high school students look further into their school and potentially
attend that university. According to the NCAA for any student athlete to be eligible and still be
considered amateur they are not allowed to receive salary for participating in any athletic program nor
are they allowed to be given prize money above necessary expenses, ( Amateurism ) However a
common view is that college athletes should not be paid because most of them already receive a free

Sophocles vs Euripides Essay
Sophocles vs Euripides Sophocles and Euripides versions of Electra carry, among many similarities, a
central theme of revenge. The characters, Electra and Orestes, must reunite to avenge their father s
murder. Misfortunately, in both versions the just solution leads the siblings to destroying their own
mother. Both versions of Electra can be compared to Aeschylus Libation Bearers. However, they are
both more dramatic, and more similar to each other than if each Electra was individually compared to
the play by Aeschylus. The biggest differences between the two versions of Electra, are found within
the characters and their development. I also believe that, the differences we see in these characters
personalities between the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another example is that Electra is told that Orestes is dead. One may wonder why Electra has to
experience more grief as opposed to, for example, immediately knowing Orestes was near her and
joining forces to get revenge. To my surprise, when Electra learned that Orestes was alive and close
by, she did not question him about why he lied even to her. Instead, she was filled with joy. I believe
Sophocles uses the supposed death of Orestes to cause a reaction in Electra, in turn enhancing
character development. Euripides gives Electra s character power by making her more decisive. He
does not rely on the other characters as much to cause Electra s reactions. Electra has more internal
initiative. She pushed for Orestes to kill Clytamnestra, even when Orestes was having second doubts, I
myself will arrange my mother s death (Euripides, 45). Both Sophocles and Euripides give a sense of
more free will to the characters by reducing divine interventions. In both versions Orestes has come
from an oracle, and was told he should supply justice to his father s murderers. This is different from
the Libation Bearers. In The Libation Bearers, Orestes not only comes with advice from the oracle, but
with an ultimatum. Apollo told him to avenge his father or live a life of torment and a shameful death.
This makes the gruesome murder and revenge seem like he

The Road to Becoming a Teacher
Shayne McCormick
Mr. Katz
Senior Project Research Paper
January 8, 2002
The Road to Becoming a Teacher
Teachers bear the heavy responsibility of molding the minds of our nation s most precious resource, its
children. The road to becoming a teacher is a long one, involving post high school education, people
skills, and a desire to change lives. These traits, when accompanied by experience and good
techniques, form the foundation for an effective, life altering educator. Before anything else, teachers
must have a desire to impact the lives of their students (Education). Some teachers teach because they
want to help children learn and grow and would like to make a contribution to society. Others have an
intellectual fascination with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Teachers must be ready to deal with an array of students with different needs. Their day usually begins
around 8 a.m. where they face the difficult task of waking up their tired students and getting them
ready to learn. They must find interesting ways of presenting the subjects that students often find
tedious (Princeton). Affective teachers use interactive discussion and hands on learning to help
students understand the material (School Teachers).
A teacher s day does not hardly end when the school bell rings. Active teachers are usually involved in
after school meetings, committees, assisting students, grading homework, assignments, and projects,
and calling parents. These tasks all require a certain amount of personal sacrifice (Kizlik).
There have been many changes in education. Even today, the face of education is being changed and
refined. Classes are becoming more and more less structured with students working in their own
groups. The idea is to prepare students to enter the workforce by teaching them the skills to interact
with others, adapt to new technology, and logically think through problems (School Teachers).
Even with the experience of the teacher training programs mentioned earlier, nothing can fully prepare
a person to become a teacher. According to Dr. Bob Kizlik, Each of the roles [a teacher plays] requires
practice and skills that are often not taught in teacher preparation programs. Not all who want to be
teachers should

Analysis Of The Book Oliver Twist
Oliver Twist Recently for a project for an English class, the students were asked to do an assignment
of reading Oliver Twist. This is the first time most of the students had read the novel. Some of the
students prefer to engage their learning by watching the movies of novels instead of reading the
material. Surprisingly, most of the students enjoyed the late Charles Dickens. They greatly adored all
of the plot twists and how they, the readers, were always on their toes until the next chapter, I don t
quite really remember when it was easy to put down the book. Karina Gonzalez The author of this
classic novel was the late Charles Dickens; He was born on the 7Th of February in the year of 1812 in
Portsmouth, Hampshire, England. He was born into a family of ten members including his parents as
well as a poverty stricken class (what class means is a name to say for a rank of something.) They
lived near the countryside, until 1822 when the family was forced to move the city of Camden Town,
which is a poor neighborhood in London. They were forced because of financial issues and his father
was sent to prison because of a great deal of debt. Since the situation with young Charles s father, the
boy had to quit school go work in a boot blacking factory to help support his family. While he looks
back at his experience, Dickens saw it as the moment he said goodbye to his youthful innocence,
stating that he wondered how [he] could be so easily cast away at such a young age.

Gender Discrimination At Goodyear
Lilly Ledbetter had finally had enough of the gender discrimination at Goodyear and decided to take a
stand. In 2003, she sued Goodyear and the federal jury awarded her $3.8 million in damages. Later in
2003, a judge reduced her winnings to $300,000. However, Goodyear appealed until Supreme Court
although the Civil Rights Act clearly forbids gender discrimination. At the Supreme Court trial,
Goodyear pointed out that the Civil Rights Act also has a statute of limitations which means that an
employee must file a complaint within 180 days of the first unfair paycheck. This means that Lilly
Ledbetter needed to have sued six months after she was hired. In 2006, the Supreme Court found
Goodyear innocent of gender discrimination meaning that Goodyear won the case. Lilly Ledbetter got
no reward at all and all of her previous awards were taken away except for a $3,165 check from
Goodyear for court costs. But this was just a small setback for Lilly Ledbetter. Samuel Alito of the
Supreme Court had declared that her complaint was untimely. The Supreme ... Show more content on

work out either. This suit cost her a lot of money and she spent most of her money on the case. She
knew that if she were to lose, she would lose everything. This happened as she was awarded
$3,285,979 but all of her money was taken away when Goodyear appealed. Not to be stopped,
Ledbetter risked her money yet again by appealing to the Supreme Court. Lilly Ledbetter even said in
her novel that she had seen people lose everything in

Why You Should Optimize Your Website
This research study from other credible authors have stated the purpose, or reasons, of responsive
design whether it be from a mobile or tablet devices. Responsive design isn t about just getting the
right information at a faster rate of time, but to ensure the user experience is effective and concise.
When people hear the word mobile web, it is absolutely being well understood of what it means.
Mobile web refers to where people are accessing through the Internet on their mobile devices and
accessing information to whatever users are searching (Mckee, 2014). According to the article, Why
You Should Optimize Your Website by Suzanne McKee, tells readers like us that there are about 77%
of people who have mobile devices (Mckee, 2014). This leads to a very well define conclusion, if you
will, that mobile users are looking for information about a company s product using their mobile
devices regardless if it s smartphones or tablets. As more users are getting into their mobile devices,
responsive web design has its own future too when it comes to user experience. Additionally,
responsive design is becoming more emerging into the world. Mobile users use their devices in three
common ways to search, to directly navigate to a destination website, send a link to themselves via
email so they can visit it later (Savitz, 2012). This is the reason why responsive design is becoming
more popular and is ascending into its trends. Responsive web design is flexible and it takes full

College Athletes Get Paid Research
Research from College athletics programs make a lot of money, send little to academics the University
of Texas at Austin brings in a average of 184 million dollars each year through athletics. The question
that floats everyone s mind is why are the athletes not getting paid . Some believe paying them will no
longer show value of the game. However others believe they should be paid because they dedicate
their lives to the sport. The NCAA must recognize the benefits of compensating college athletics
because, college athletics work hard everyday , makes the sport more competitive and helps players
support themselves financially. A primary reason why is , college athletes work hard each week in and
out of school. Research according to How ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They graduate without a loan because they have a scholarship. On the other hand a salary will grant
one to support themselves financially. One would believe that a player leading his team to a
championship would never be starving himself however as declared in How Much Does It Cost to go
to College The University of Connecticut s Shabazz Napier recently told reporters he sometimes goes
to bed starving because he can t afford food, despite that UConn s student athlete guidelines include
provisions for meal plans (Sanderson,Allen). It can be assumed that life was hard because he played so
much and got limited food which he he was granted by plans. One would believe that player leading
his team to a championship According to How Much Does It Cost to go to college The costs of college
can usually be broken down into three basic categories: tuition, books, and housing. Tuition is the cost
of taking classes at a college. This amount varies the most widely between different colleges
(Wonderpolis.com). Granted that college athletics get paid they will be able to pay for all the different
parts associated with college. Relating to Shabazz Napier he most likely had no money to spend on
food because all his money was going towards his studies. Each student spends around 1,200 dollars a
year just towards textbooks. Demonstrated in College Athletics Programs Make a lot of Money, Send
Little to Academics when students are getting paid they will not have to stress about any financial
issues instead they can work more on there game to improve themselves. This reveals that athletics are
worried about paying off college tuition and could give less time towards

Charlemagne by the Sword and the Cross Essay
Charlemagne by the Sword and the Cross
By the sword and the cross, Charlemagne became master of Western Europe. It was falling into decay
when Charlemagne became joint king of the Franks in 768. Except in the monasteries, people had all
but forgotten education and the arts. Boldly Charlemagne conquered barbarians and kings alike. By
restoring the roots of learning and order, he preserved many political rights and revived culture.
Charlemagne s grandfather was Charles Martel, the warrior who crushed the Saracens. Charlemagne
was the elder son of Bertrade and Pepin the Short, first mayor of the palace to become king of the
Franks. Although schools had almost disappeared in the 8th century, historians believe that Bertrade

In 768, when Charlemagne was 26, he and his brother Carloman inherited the kingdom of the Franks.
In 771 Carloman died, and Charlemagne became sole ruler of the kingdom. At that time the northern
half of Europe was still pagan and lawless. In the south, the Roman Catholic Church was striving to
assert its power against the Lombard kingdom in Italy. In Charlemagne s own realm, the Franks were
falling back into barbarian ways, neglecting their education and religion.
Charlemagne was determined to strengthen his realm and to bring order to Europe. In 772 he launched
a 30 year campaign that conquered and Christianized the powerful pagan Saxons in the north. He
subdued the Avars, a huge Tatar tribe on the Danube. He compelled the rebellious Bavarian dukes to
submit to him. When possible he preferred to settle matters peacefully, however. For example,
Charlemagne offered to pay the Lombard king Desiderius for return of lands to the pope, but, when
Desiderius refused, Charlemagne seized his kingdom in 773 to 774 and restored the Papal States.
The key to Charlemagne s amazing conquests was his ability to organize. During his reign he sent out
more than 50 military expeditions. He rode as commander at the head of at least half of them. He
moved his armies over wide reaches of country with unbelievable speed, but every move was planned
in advance. Before a campaign he told the counts,

bird1. Behavioral Problems?
After a lot of research through the years the consensus is that Parrots present problems less frequently
than most of the other pets, Especially the exotic ones, like Macaws, African Grey and Cockatiels.
These species have stable temperaments and are less probable to show aggressive behavior. Macaws,
even the smaller ones have a wonderful sense of bigness , result of their genetic traits, and can
sometimes overreact to unfamiliar objects or something they see as a threat. Other species like
cockatiels, African Grey Parrot, small Budgies can show aggressive behavior during the mating
season, especially males. They have a sense of protectiveness for their offspring soon to be hatched.
Wild parrots like Indian Ring Necks have lots of problems being confined to smaller spaces and can
injure their keepers in aggression.2. Soothing or Noisy? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The important thing here is the Introduction phase, you need to be very cautious when introducing two
birds, because this moment will decide rest of their stay. Take extra care when introducing a smaller
bird to a significantly larger one. To introduce them to each other you need to give them at least 1 day
to get familiar with each other, keep their cages side by side, such that one bird can see the other. On
the Next day let the birds play in the same area for some time, but keep a closer eye on them, do this
for 2 3 days and if you see them getting along well then you can put them together. Else if one of the
birds is getting aggressive then give them some more time to familiarize with each other a little

Ralph Waldo Emerson And Individualism
Do people in need have a right to be assisted by people who have the means necessary to help; is it
better for the recievers to be aided, or to solve their problems by themselves? Many philosophers
throughout human history have analyzed and constructed arguments for and against helping the needy
and poor, as well as arguments for charitable isolation. Peter Singer is an Australian philosopher who
wrote Famine Affluence and Morality in Philosophy and Public Affairs to convince people of rich
societies that giving charity to those in need is not generous, but is rather morally obligatory to people
that have the resources to help
Ralph Waldo Emerson was an American philosopher that contributed to the concept of individualism.
As part of a series of essays, Emerson wrote Self Reliance to explain his personal worldview of
individualism, a moral philosophy that judges people based on their individual personality traits,
values, experiences, and values. The main idea of Self Reliance is that people should not conform to
morals and values of other people, but should instead let their values be shaped by the life that they
lead.
Garrett Hardin on the other hand, was an American philosopher and ecologists that wrote Lifeboat
Ethics in Psychology Today to differentiate a world that has a single authority leading it, from a world
that has multiple authorities without a supreme captain to dictate right from wrong. Hardin further
explains how distributing resources based on

With new research and enhanced parent education, new mothers have developed knowledge in relation to the benefits of breastfeeding for both mother and baby. Breastfeeding is linked to psychological benefits such as a hormonal release to enhance bonding and attachment through mother and baby. At the very least, breastfeeding may also reduce or prevent the likeliness of long term health complications. Coincidentally, some mothers still struggle with thought of breastfeeding and the potential risks and complications involved with formula fed infants. Let s review the good, the bad and ugly facts of breastfeeding. Mothers that choose to breastfeed have the advantage of several psychological, physical, and behavioral changes related to hormonal release of oxytocin, nutrients for baby that cannot otherwise be established in commercial milk, passive antibodies that are delivered through mothers and protect the baby from pathogens and illnesses. Benefits also include bonding with their newborn to actually reverting back to pre pregnancy weight and maintaining a healthy body weight and image. According to, The Pediatrics for Parents Journal, studies shows breastfed children exhibit fewer behavioral problems when they are older. • 4. Take Away, By Jhumpa Lahiri And Pot Roast By Mark Strand Around the world food is an international experience. It does not matter what a person s race is or where they originated from, the culture of food is what brings people together. The diversity of food in one s meal often brings back different memories from people s past. In the poem, Pot Roast, by Mark Strand and the short story, Indian Takeout, by Jhumpa Lahiri both discuss about their experience with food and present how food is significant to their culture. Although Lahiri s and Strand s stories might seem different because of their style of writing they are actually similar due to their fascinating experience, appropriate use of diction, and significant value of food. According to Alfred Rosa, concrete diction refers to words that stimulate some kind of sensory response in the reader (Rosa 55). The description of her father sipping on mangoes allowed the reader to feel the sensation of tasting the oozing juice of the fruit. In addition to that, her audience can also sense the taste of the sweet, sticky oranges Lahiri s mother ate. Lahiri used specific diction when describing the yogurt cups and her sister s Moghlai paraths. The reader can visualize what the author saw by describing the red clay yogurt cups and the flat bread folded, omelet style Moghlai paraths. Lahiri s choice of words gave an amusing effect on her readers to participate in what she sensed and felt in her story. In the poem, Pot Roast, the speaker described his memory of his mother s pot roast through simplistic, yet descriptive, poetic versus. Strand also provided his readers concrete and specific diction in his poem. According to Strand to inhale the steam that rises from my plate...I remember the gravy, its odor of garlic and celery, and sopping it up with pieces of bread (Strand 269). • 5. Relative Reactivities of Different Types of Hydrogen Atoms... The purpose of this experiment was to determine the relative reactivities of different types of hydrogen atoms toward bromine atoms. Although the tested compounds were all arenes, their reactivities differ as they contain different types of hydrogens. The hydrogens could be of three different types and could also differ in being bonded to carbons that are attached to a different number of other carbons. The three different types of hydrogens that could be found were aromatic, aliphatic, and benzylic. The first category is aromatic hydrogens, which are attached to sp2 carbons or are those directly bonded to an aromatic ring. Aromatic hydrogens are the least reactive of the hydrogens in this experiment. The second type of hydrogen being investigated is aliphatic hydrogens, which are found bonded to an SP3 hybridized carbon which are bonded to another SP3 hybridized carbon. Aliphatic hydrogens can also be broken down into further categories according to their number of substituents into primary (less reactive), secondary (more reactive), and tertiary (most reactive). The third type of hydrogens are benzylic hydrogens, which are bonded to a SP3 hybridized carbon that is bonded to a benzene ring. Benzylic hydrogens are also broken into primary and secondary categories according to their substituents, and are all more reactive than aliphatic and aromatic hydrogens. What essentially happens in these reactions is that first, light breaks the bond between two bromine atoms, from a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

People cannot see color, it is an offense for somebody to touch others, and the community assigns people jobs and children. This unnamed community shown through Jonas eye, the main character in this novel, is a perfect society. There is no war, crime, and hunger. Most readers might take it for granted that the community in The Giver differs from the real society. Today, some women decide to become surrogate mothers of other women s babies because of several reasons, such as sympathy for the couples who cannot have children of their own or financial reason. However, to carry other women s children gives surrogate moms great senses of responsibility. They writhe in not only soreness of body, but also agony of mentality. The psychological pain by giving their babies to other women is greater than that of body. Thus, some surrogate mothers refuse to give up their babies sometimes. The third similarity is that some people want to embrace euthanasia in any society. Here is the release in the community. The release is not a natural death, but the end of life by human being. In schools the test showed 51% less of absences, and 43% in college dormitories. In the food industry workers are not allowed to use only alcohol antiseptics. Certain spore forming bacteria, especially the endospores of gram positive bacteria are usually resistant to hand sanitizers as well as soap and water but are visible in spore formation. Gram positive bacteria is impenetrable to sanitizers because of its thick and well built plasma membrane which is thicker than most viruses and fungus cell s membranes. This attribute gives great difficulty to alcohol antiseptics and is hard to destroy the proteins inside the cell because of the thick wall. Most alcohol based sanitizers are effective against most viruses and funguses better than simply hand washing with soap. • 18. Cosimo De Medici In The Renaissance Essay Florence, located on the Arno River, north of the center of Italy has often been called the Cradle of the Renaissance and was the home to some of the greatest artists and thinkers of the Renaissance. During this time, Florence was the banking center of Europe. The wealth helped Florence become a cultural leader during the Renaissance. One more reason for the success of Florence during the Renaissance was the contribution of the Medicis. The Medicis dominated Florence for about 300 years and acquired their wealth mainly through Florence s major industry banking. They used this wealth to patronize artists, scientists and philosophers. One of the rulers who contributed a lot to the Renaissance was Cosimo de Medici. Cosimo de Medici was the son of Giovanni de Medici and it was he who established the Medici empire in Florence. Even though Cosimo de Medici was tyrannical, corrupt, and power thirsty, his contribution to the Renaissance as a patron of art, libraries and philosophy greatly outweighed his negative political actions. Cosimo de Medici was corrupted and would do anything to get in power. One such example can be seen by the relationship between the Medici and the Roman Catholic Church. The role of the president of the United States originated with George Washington and so did the role of the first lady. As geographic borders merged through trade, travel, communication, and technology, information and ideas for fashion were transmitted. Though international trade of fibers and textiles has influenced cultures throughout history, increasing technology has resulted in diffusion of trends to the four corners of the globe. The Industrial Revolution improved the quality of life in the lower class, causing fashion to become more democratic. Technology allows items and people to travel worldwide faster than ever, and images and information can be communicated instantaneously. According to Broderick and Blewitt (2015) Angela and Adam live in the home with Angela s mother, Sarah. Angela s relationship with her own mother is described as a bit dysfunctional as Sarah is reported to continue to be angry with Angela for becoming pregnant in the first place. Sarah s anger has caused her to deny Adam s father the ability to come to the home and play an active role in Adam s life, therefore putting more of a strain on Angela, who has already had to drop out of high school in an attempt to take care of Adam on her own. Angela has openly admitted to aggressive behavior towards Adam such as grabbing his face and handling Adam in a rough manner. For example, the literature states that smaller boards of directors reduce the coordination problems that lead to improved firm performance relative to larger boards of directors (Kini et al, 1995; Yermack, 1996; Eisenberg et al, 1998). This study found significant empirical evidence with the sample of FTSE 100 companies that this is the case which supports these findings. Even after this study attempted to correct for some data problems by removing those companies within the dataset where the shareholding was concentrated in the hands of significant majority shareholders and their related parties, there was no statistically significant relationship between shareholder concentration and firm performance. Research has been conducted and the study showed that, Latino students perceived that teachers actions escalated disciplinary problems and believed that administrators used unfair and discriminatory practices (90). Educators will never be able to teach students if the students perceive them as being racist. They make the mistake of mismatching their own life experiences and professional training. Le Roux realizes that an increasing diverse school population encounters a mostly middle class teaching force that is inadequately prepared to manage the reality of diversity in schools, and that is due to lack of knowledge of diversity (46). He also states that some teachers make the mistake of generalizing about particular ethnic groups and cultural groups, as a result of being exposed during training to information about culture; that is very dangerous in itself. Educators also focus mostly on general characteristics of a group instead in a single individual, and this is wrong because each individual is unique and should not be generalized by culture (Le Roux 46). According to Motes, there are certain considerations that need to be acknowledged when preparing for a trail running trip. As the runner will be moving over natural trails and different terrains, they will not need the same gear or equipment as a person running on a track or on the roadways. Shoes are a very crucial item for any runner, especially a trail runner. Laura says that you should wear a pair of true trail shoes. These provide a thicker sole than standard running shoes, which is ideal for uneven ground and sharp rocks. Clothing is relatively universal between trail running and road running. In fact, most conflicts that occurred on his tragic plays such as Hamlet and Macbeth are based from the superstitious beliefs back then. In addition, both protagonists portrayed an ideal hero archetype. However, both Hamlet and Macbeth have major flaws which soon lead to their own downfall. In fact, both Hamlet and Macbeth are plays that involves in the existence of supernatural beings in which later on causes major conflicts on the natural order throughout the play. According to Robin Phillips, during the Elizabethan era, God, angel, man, animals, and plants represents the natural order and balance in a society. It is believed that once disrupted, often times in Shakespearean plays, it is most likely to have serious consequences in the future to regain the original structure (Phillips 2014). For instance, in Hamlet the appearance of the ghost portrayed the demand of reconstruction of the natural order. If thou hast nature in thee, bear it not. Let not the royal bed of Denmark be a couch for luxury and damned incest. (Hamlet. I.v.81 83) the quote explains the corruption of the natural order in which Claudius interrupted to satisfy his own deeds. Moreover, in Shakespeare s time, it is believed that the disruption of the natural structure could cause serious catastrophe in the society that could possibly tumble the balance in which God has designed. • 40. The Success Of College Sports Title In the past few decades college sports have grown immensely in popularity nationwide, especially when the bigger events such as March Madness and the College Football National Championship arise. Even though the NCAA considers themselves to be a non profit organization, March Madness is such a huge event that in 2011 the NCAA made an agreement with CBS Sports and Turner Broadcasting System to let them broadcast the games until 2024 for $10.8 billion, but during March Madness they make almost $800 million every year from jersey, ticket, and product sales ( Revenue ). Depending on how far some of the colleges go these universities could make an extra few million also. None of the money the colleges or the association makes is given to the student athletes. They are the ones that work so hard to help bring in all of the revenue for their schools and the NCAA but get nothing in return. Besides bringing in revenue for their school if they prove that they are a good collegiate school it will make high school students look further into their school and potentially attend that university. According to the NCAA for any student athlete to be eligible and still be considered amateur they are not allowed to receive salary for participating in any athletic program nor are they allowed to be given prize money above necessary expenses, ( Amateurism ) However a common view is that college athletes should not be paid because most of them already receive a free education and get ... The characters, Electra and Orestes, must reunite to avenge their father s murder. Misfortunately, in both versions the just solution leads the siblings to destroying their own mother. Both versions of Electra can be compared to Aeschylus Libation Bearers. However, they are both more dramatic, and more similar to each other than if each Electra was individually compared to the play by Aeschylus. The biggest differences between the two versions of Electra, are found within the characters and their development. I also believe that, the differences we see in these characters personalities between the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another example is that Electra is told that Orestes is dead. One may wonder why Electra has to experience more grief as opposed to, for example, immediately knowing Orestes was near her and joining forces to get revenge. To my surprise, when Electra learned that Orestes was alive and close by, she did not question him about why he lied even to her. Instead, she was filled with joy. I believe Sophocles uses the supposed death of Orestes to cause a reaction in Electra, in turn enhancing character development. Euripides gives Electra s character power by making her more decisive. He does not rely on the other characters as much to cause Electra s reactions. Electra has more internal initiative. She pushed for Orestes to kill Clytamnestra, even when Orestes was having second doubts, I myself will arrange my mother s death (Euripides, 45). Both Sophocles and Euripides give a sense of more free will to the characters by reducing divine interventions. In both versions Orestes has come from an oracle, and was told he should supply justice to his father s murderers. This is different from the Libation Bearers. In The Libation Bearers, Orestes not only comes with advice from the oracle, but with an ultimatum. Apollo told him to avenge his father or live a life of torment and a shameful death. This makes the gruesome murder and revenge seem like he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These traits, when accompanied by experience and good techniques, form the foundation for an effective, life altering educator. Affective teachers use interactive discussion and hands on learning to help students understand the material (School Teachers). A teacher s day does not hardly end when the school bell rings. Active teachers are usually involved in after school meetings, committees, assisting students, grading homework, assignments, and projects, and calling parents. These tasks all require a certain amount of personal sacrifice (Kizlik). There have been many changes in education. Even today, the face of education is being changed and refined. Classes are becoming more and more less structured with students working in their own groups. The idea is to prepare students to enter the workforce by teaching them the skills to interact with others, adapt to new technology, and logically think through problems (School Teachers). They were forced because of financial issues and his father was sent to prison because of a great deal of debt. Since the situation with young Charles s father, the boy had to quit school go work in a boot blacking factory to help support his family. In Charlemagne s own realm, the Franks were falling back into barbarian ways, neglecting their education and religion. Charlemagne was determined to strengthen his realm and to bring order to Europe. In 772 he launched a 30 year campaign that conquered and Christianized the powerful pagan Saxons in the north. He subdued the Avars, a huge Tatar tribe on the Danube. He compelled the rebellious Bavarian dukes to submit to him. When possible he preferred to settle matters peacefully, however. For example, Charlemagne offered to pay the Lombard king Desiderius for return of lands to the pope, but, when Desiderius refused, Charlemagne seized his kingdom in 773 to 774 and restored the Papal States.
