Working Title:
Originality
Audience:
The audience of my short film will be people around the age of 18, however it wont be mature
content. It will just be a comment on the modern film industry and how originality is not very
common anymore, so will not be as entertaining for a younger audience. There will be no target
gender for my film. The films primary target will be people have interest in films and seeing
original ideas rather than reboots of old franchise that don’t try anything new and interesting. This
means that the film will primarily target a c1, c2, d and e class audience, this is because the video
will primarily be viewed on youtube where this class of people is much more active as a majority of
them are students. The audience will primarily be emulators as it will appeal to there desire to be
successful and respected, it will do this by showing how it is much more interesting to be original
than repetitive. It will also be for people who seek entertainment as I intend that to be the overall
focus of the short film, as it will be commenting on how entertainment gas changed while also
using entertaining camera shots.
Rationale (approx. 100 words)
This year I have developed skills over the multiple projects that I have done, the ones that will be
most impactful are the videogame and IRN BRU. In the video game project I used video editing
software to add effects to my animation to give it more depth and to make it more entertaining.
The IRN BRU project we had to create a short and mine was heavily focussed around what went
wrong when filming, so having this focus helped me learn what I should do different next time
Project Concept (approx. 200 words)
The concept for my short film is to be a comment on how film has changed from being very original
to now being constant reboots and superhero films. So I want to use camera angles and
movement to show this change in time. I will use props to help show the change, I plan on using
an old TV and a more modern TV in separate rooms to show this change, as even though it is
quite subtle it will give the audience a lot of information. I will also use colour to show the change
as one room will be much more dull and empty in comparison to the older much brighter room.
For this project I will need to research how most effectively use close ups and different camera
angles to show the changes in situation that I want effectively. I will also need to research what
colours effect people in different ways, such as yellow makes people feel happy.
Production Techniques (approx. 150 words)
For my film I ill not need any green screens as I intend to keep the scenes simple and relatable,
however I will need to edit my film to add colour to these locations. I will need to use a tripod as
intend to have a couple pan shots and zooms in my video and will need to keep the camera level.
I wont be having any moving shots so a steady cam will not be necessary for my film. I will need
to watch tutorials before creating my film as I need to learn how change an objects colour within
the video.
Evaluation (approx. 50 words)
When I evaluate my work I will compare it to my audience research to see whether it will be
interesting based on audience feedback. I will also compare it to films that are very similar to it, I
will look at what makes that film better than mine or what my film does better than it.
