A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

Blogger keeps people up to date with the things we have done. It also shows the research
taken place in order for us to create our short film. We each have our own blog posts as well
as group posts showing who has done what between the four of us and what we have worked
together on. It is a really good way to put across our ideas and inform people bits about our
genre choice and the ideas behind our creation.

I use YouTube for research into genre like examples of films it is also something
we can put our film onto for people to watch.
Google Forms
we used Google Forms to create our Questionnaire this allows us to receive
feedback on not only our film and what they think of it but also people
understanding of our chosen genre.
5. Photoshop
We used Photoshop to create our film poster, this
programme was really helpful as you could work
with different layers and lock them down to keep
and get rid of backgrounds you no longer want,
using certain tools provided.
6. Zoom recorder/ Premier Pro
The Zoom recorder is a hand held digital audio recorder which we used to record out radio trailer.
The zoom recorder was useful, it records sounds in very high definition helping our trailer more
clear to understand and sound more professional when putting it together. We edited it on
premier pro and layered sounds from our film throughout.
We used Adobe Premier Pro we used this for editing to put our film together and make it appear
more professional and clean cut. The programme was incredible straight forward to use and gave
options to layer footage with sound effects and music. We also used this to make our radio trailer,
it allowed us to work with film as well as it did audio.
7. What we learnt
Throughout this year we have learnt how to edit a film, put together a poster and
make it look professional we have also learnt how to create a radio trailer from
using a voice recorder and Premier Pro. Throughout the year we had to use the
internet for a source of research on the genre of our film, music, costume. Before
we started to make any of it. We had to create a survey in order to get the public
feedback on our production what they think of the name the storyline ect.
