.Working Title:
The Exchange.
Audience:
My audience is from the age of 15 to around 19-20, with a main aim at males, as from my research more
males then females enjoy the type of film I am making. This is slightly aimed more at people in a lower class
to middle class, compared to an upper class, as due to research I have found that more people from the
classes I am aiming at will relate the film a bit, due to the use of drugs. However this is not true for most
people. As I have described and explained in my Research PowerPoint my film will be at a 15 rating and
not an 18 rating, as there are drugs and violence, however these are not shown in detail and are not
encouraged or shown in a positive manner.
Rationale (approx. 100 words)
My first project this year was making a TV advert, print advert and an advergame, however only
the making of the TV advert will help me in making my short film as I will be using the same
camera and camera equipment to film with. I also did some practise filming to experiment with the
cameras, within my first project, which was almost like a short film, therefore this will help me in
filming. The editing for my TV advert and practice filming I did will also help me for editing my final
short film, as I used Premiere Pro which I will be using to edit my film.
Project Concept (approx. 200 words)
I am going to make a 1 minute long short film. I have chosen to genre to be horror, however due to
the research I did I will include comedy within my short film as well, which will make my film a
horror/comedy (a horror parody). I first did my primary research, which was a survey I made on
SurveyMonkey, and I analysed the results I collected. Next was my secondary research, which
was looking at statistics for which gender and age groups like which genres and I used this
research to decide the definite genre of my short film and I also decided the guideline I will be
making my film, using the BBFC Guidelines website and judging which guideline my film would fit
in, based on my ideas. After I did all this research, I then analysed all of this and I identified my
target audience and talked about and explained the audience appropriate content. Finally I then
research three productions and the camera shots, music and lighting used in the making of these
productions and how I can include some of these into my short film and what the limitations I have
compared to the professional productions.
Production Techniques (approx. 150 words)
I will not using a green screen as all the locations I need for my short film are accessible and easy
to get to. I will mostly likely set my location up with props I already own if I need to, and wont need
any special effects pre-production or post production. I will use an audio recorder to collect some
additional audio but other than that I wont be using any other equipment apart from the camera
and tripod that is provided. I don’t have any special lighting equipment, therefore I will be limited in
making the shot more clear if I need to, but this equipment is not provided and I do not own it, so I
will improvise with what I’ve got.
Evaluation (approx. 50 words)
I will film many shots multiple times at one time then look at them on the camera and see if they fit
the idea of what I’m trying to make and if so will go on to film more shots, however if they don’t fit
my idea then I will go back and film them shots again. Once I have all of my shots I will upload
them onto Premiere Pro and see how the video clips look altogether, if they don’t work I will have
to film some shots again. Once I have done this I can then go on to edit the clips and audio.
