Experiments
Jack Hickman
Process
In my experiments I used Photoshop to create my
experiment. In Photoshop, to create the
experiment, I used the pencil tool to draw the
character design and then used the colour palette
to colour in the character so I could fill in the
character with different colours to place emphasis
on the different armour pieces and clothing. I used
shading as well to make certain parts of the
character asset stand out such as some parts of the
cape and the hair. I also used the eraser tool to get
rid of some of the mistakes I made during the
experiment such as ill placing of colours or if the
outline wasn’t right for the character. The process
involve putting in the outline first which was pretty
difficult then I placed more outlines within the
character to determine what goes where e.g. the
head, arms and legs. I then coloured in the
character with light/unrealistic colours; reds, blues
and purples. I then added in details like the sword
and cape for added effect and finally added in the
shadow at the bottom for some realism. The
shading was added in last.
Reflection
• What elements of your experiments will you include in your
final product?
The elements of the experiment will be carried over. These will consist mainly of
the warrior type design; the sword, old fashioned clothing etc. However, I won’t
simply copy the design over from the experiment but instead, use it as some form
of inspiration. Both my experiment and final product will use the same form of
inspiration, these been warrior type characters of any kind whether they be
fantasy or not. My final product will be done using the Photoshop application. I
do want my experiment to act as a concept for my final product but at the same
time I want to take inspiration from other sources so hopefully, my product will
come out relatively nicely. The tools I will use for this product are going to be the
pencil tool because I need it to create the asset for my game, the eraser tool to
get rid of any mistakes that I made.
