2. Process
• When I was designing the
animation I used three
frames where the
character is in a walk cycle.
This was easy to animate
as I only needed three
frames to make a fairly
good walk cycle that is
recognizably a walking
motion.
• It took a while to figure
out how I’d use the frames
to show motion but I think
the finished experiment
looks pretty good although
it could use more frames.
3. Reflection
• If I had more time to finish the animation I would
add more frames of movement so it would look
more fluid.
• I think that the movement in my animation is
very important as I need to know how many
frames to use to make the movement seem more
natural
• I might need to sacrifice detail in future
animations in order to have more frames of
movement
4. Process
• For my second experiment I wanted to
experiment with how I could show a
punch in a fighting game. I spent a lot
of time on the animation as I made the
initial character too detailed so I had to
use less frames than I could’ve done in
order to have a more detailed
animation with less movement/frames
• I solved my problem with the
movement by using the brush tool
instead of the pencil tool in some
frames to imply fast movement as it
blurred the image.
• For the audio in the experiment I used
beepbox to create the sound of the
punch and although it didn’t hit
anything I still wanted the punch to
sound like it had some weight to it so I
used a sound which sounded like a
drum for the punch
5. Reflection
– I’ve learned from my experiments that I need to have a better
plan of how I need to animate in order to show motion this due
to my struggles getting the detailed character design to show
movement and how using the brush tool in some frames gave
the appearance of fast movement.
– I need to have a less detailed character design in order to finish
my game on time as it took a lot of time to animate a single
punch from character in this experiment so in order to make my
animation process I need to have a less detailed character that I
can efficiently animate.
– When I was designing the sound of the punch I realised that I
need to have a sound for the punch and whatever it hits so
that’s something I could develop when I work on when
designing the game.
