The student's initial thoughts for their magazine project were a sports, gaming, fashion, or hip-hop magazine. They chose a hip-hop magazine because they enjoy hip-hop music the most and would put more effort into a topic they enjoy. Their strengths include designing magazine covers in Photoshop, but double page spreads may be more challenging due to less experience.

My initial thoughts on this project were I could of done a sport magazine, a gaming magazine, a
fashion magazine or a music hip-hop/rap magazine. I thought of these genre’s of magazines because
I enjoy these things so it would make creating my work more enjoyable. I ended up deciding out of
all these genre that I anted to create a hip-hop magazine because I enjoy hip-hop / rap and music
out of all these genres and this will show in my work because if I enjoy it more I am likely to put
more effort into it which overall will improve the quality of my work overall. I am good at designing
work in Photoshop as I have had previous experience from this within past years from me using
Photoshop at college and using Photoshop at home. I think a strength of mine for this project is
making the magazine cover however a weakness would be making the double page spread as I
haven't had as much experience wit doing double page spreads as what I have with making
magazine covers.

Conventions
Conventions of fashion magazines are to include cover lines such as
“50 fashion hacks” and other fashion related topics. I will include
topics like this in my magazine to attract my target audience for my
fashion magazine. They also include one main image on the front page
whilst the model/celebrity is behind a plain background so it has more
attention on the model.

Is there any repetition in the images you have collected?
Repeated colours/images styles/fonts/tone/mood
Some things that have been repeated would be the mastheads are quite simple , bold
and often have the artists on the page covering up the masthead as the brands are
that well known the audience will notice the brand just by seeing the colour of the
mast head and by only seeing part of the logo. Another thing they have in common is
the artist is often in front of a plain background whilst the artists is trying to look
powerful and wealthy.
How will your mood board influence your final product?
This will influence my final product as I will try and include these conventions within
my work so that it looks like a conventional hip-hop / rap magazine as it includes all
these features that other magazines within this genre includes. The main thing I will
include would be to show off the artists power and wealth as in my opinion from
looing at all other magazines this is the most common convention I have noticed.
