Initial Reaction
Opinions on the set brief?
- My initial reaction to the set brief was excitement, I’ve always wanted to have ago at making my own
magazine, I think it might be challenging as I’ve never made on before but I have studied them so I have an
idea of what they include and what they need to look like and who they need to appeal to depending on
my audience type.
What am I good at?
- I would like to think I am good at things to do with tv/film and possibly fashion, I enjoy both but I
probably know more to do with tv/film then I do with fashion. I enjoy talking certain films and how the
director have made it and how they want there audience to see the film, however I also like to talk
about how certain clothing pieces go together well and certain techniques that go well with fashion
trends.
What could I make?
- I either want to make a fashion magazine or a film magazine, I enjoy the topic side of the film magazines
as they are more interesting to me and I understand and enjoy them more as it’s simply what I like,
however I do enjoy looking at fashion magazines and seeing what all the pretty models are wearing and
the simplistic layout that makes everything look clear and tidy.

Mood Board
Mood Board Analysis
Is there any repetition in the images you have collected? Repeated colours/images
styles/fonts/tone/mood:
- Both magazines that I selected are similar, they both don’t cover the front cover in tones of articles,
however vogue does still have few on the front cover compared to I-d who don’t have any at all. Both
magazines also cover the front page with one image of a certain model/celebrity to show the audience
who the main interviewee is. Vogue likes to match the colour of there text with what ever the
model/celebrity is wearing which I like. They both use different font on each magazine to make things
interesting and they both take unique photos with unique poses and fashion styles.
How will your mood board influence your final product?
- My mood board will help influence my final product because I love the simplicity of both the magazines, I
like how there isn’t tones of articles covering the front page and how everyone is focused on the model as
they stand out the most on the magazines. I like how vogue colour scheme is based on what the
model/celebrity is wearing and I like how I-D have very little text on the front. I am considering do a mix of
both the magazines and putting there styles together to hopefully create something interesting.
Schedule
WEEK OVERALL PLAN SPECIFIC TASKS
1 Research, Initial
Response, Audience
Research
 Research fashion magazines that I like the style of and will inspire me.
 Think about the genre of magazine I want to make and what I should include
in it.
 Think about who my audience is going to be and how I can make my
magazine appeal to them.
2 Production
Experiments,
Proposal, Planning
 Experiment with in design and photoshop to create a magazine that looks
similar to how I actually want to make.
 After finding the right layout and similar photos to what I want to do stick with
it.
 Begin to plan how I will make my proposal a real magazine.
3 Production  Take all the photos I will need for the magazine including, the models,
accessories and other items for the advert.
 Create a masthead that stands out and isn’t too long.
 Create the layout for my pages and label what will be in each sections, for
example; Advert, image, text etc.
4 Production  Write up all the text I need for the full magazine.
 Place everything in order and in the correct places I want them to go.
 Make sure I stick to my layout plan.
 Everything in the magazine has to appeal to my target audience so I will have
to make sure I've included everything that would anchor them to my magazine.
5 Evaluation  Write up everything I have done for my magazine and how I have done it.
 Talk about what I struggled with and what I found easy.
 Point out what I think are my weaknesses and strengths and explain why and
how I could of improved on my production.
Bibliography
Audience research
After a quick research I have learnt that women
between the ages of 16-18 read fashion magazines
the most, they are also more interested in the
fashion articles then anything else and are less
interested in the quiz side and other non related
things like movies and tv shows. They find the
Images more appealing then they do advice and
news. Readers also prefer a colorful and simple
front cover.
Magazines
The main aspect am going to take from magazines are
the way there color scheme is based of what the
model is wearing, I think this will add a lot of color to
my pages and help make them stand out, as the
audience likes a simple page as well this will be
perfect as there won’t be too many colors going on
the page
