2. Initial Reaction
• After looking at the brief I have been given, my first thought was to create my case study
based around the game Grand Theft Auto, as that’s the only game I’ve really ever played. I
understand that it might be a good idea or me to boarder my horizon within the video game
world. If I’m being honest video games isn’t really a big interest of mine, I’m more interested
in music, politics, news and radio. I’m in the process of thinking about the final game idea, I
have thought about basing it partly around Grand Theft Auto. I have also seen how video
games can tie in with real life, and sometimes can be the blame for some actions that happen
within society. A good example of this would be Grand Theft Auto, you can get a gun and go
on a massive rampage, killing a large number of people anytime when playing. Unfortunately
there have been horrific events that have happened, in the United states where a person has
freely picked up a gun and gone on a rampage killing masses of people.
4. Mind Map
I have looked at existing action-adventure games that have
a similar concept to the game I want to produce, the games
that I have looked at so far are, Watchdogs, Gun, and The
Warriors. These are all similar because, you are able to
explore the map at your own leisure. Also I have seen I can
take a lot of inspiration from the colour schemes that these
games have used. Also another element I have drawn from
these existing games are there use of sound effects, also
another element I have drawn for these games are the
missions that you have to do and the style of the
achievements system they have produced. I feel as if I can
inspiration in all of these points when I come to produce
my game.
6. Mood Board Analysis
Is there any repetition in the images you have collected?
Repeated colours/images styles/fonts/tone/mood
After looking at all of the images I have used for my mood board, I can see a repetition in the
images, they are all action- adventure games, some games are similar, but there are some that
are different. In the way of colours and tones, they are all different and I feel that I can gain
inspiration from each image and colour I have used on my mood board, when I come to produce
my game.
How will your mood board influence your final product?
After looking at my images I have gathered, I can see how I will take inspiration from these. I will
look at the colours and different tones within these images. I will also look at the points systems
these games have used and also the sound effects that the games have used sounds in general.
7. Schedule
WEEK OVERALL PLAN SPECIFIC TASKS
1 Case Study, Initial
Response, Product
Research
During this week, I began my case
study this involved me researching an
existing game to get influence from
and inspiration. I then began my initial
plans, this involved me producing two
mind maps discussing my final idea and
three potential ideas. Along with a
mood board and a bibliography. I then
began my product research this
involved me research a number of
different products and concentrating
on different elements such as colour
schemes and fonts.
2 Audience Research,
Production Experiments,
Proposal, Planning
this week I began my audience
research, this involved me research my
intended target group. I then began my
production experiments, this involved
me producing a mock up version of
what my final product could look like. O
then started my proposal, this is where
I go in to detail about different aspects
such as my target audience and how I
want to my product to be aimed at, the
concept of my product, how I will make
sure it stays within the guide lines AAS.
Then finally I will begin my planning of
my final product in great detail.
3 Production this week I began my production of my
product, this involved me exploring the
intended software I planned to us.
