1. Proposal for Interactive Media Product
1
Working Title:
What is it called? This can change if you think of something better later
Criminal Detective
Product’s Purpose:
What is the product’s purpose (entertain/educate etc.) and how will you achieve this?
The purpose of my game is to entertain, I will achieve this by making my game fun and challenging
for others.
Genre:
What sort of product is it- puzzle criminal game
Content
What is your product about? Discuss what you would put in it (be specific). Does it have a story? If
so, discuss it here
My product is about crime scenes that people have made and you will start on level 1 and
have to go to that map where the crime has been made and find the objects that are
missing and also if you find the murder weapon or the object that is involved with the crime
you will receive a star and you need stars to identify the fingerprints on the object. You can
also get stars by completing the level in a certain amount of time. There will be a time limit
of 3 minutes, if you complete in 1 minute or under you will get 3 stars, 2 minutes or under
you will get 2 stars but if you get 3 minutes or under you will achieve one. If you don’t
manage to find the items then you will fail the map and have to retake along with receiving
0 stars. You start with 5 stars, these stars are like lives so if you fail you will lose a life but it
is easy to regain them.
Audience:
Who is your audience? Be very detailed; age, gender, social status, psychographic etc
Why would your project appeal to this person?
Mu audience would be 12+ as the whole game isbased on crime scenes and blood which
might be inappropriate for the younger children. It is targeted at both genders, any social
status. It will be a free game to download so lower class people w ill be able to play it, the
same as middle and upper class will be able to.
Research and Planning:
What elements of your research and planning will you use in your final production?
Where will you use your research and planning in your final production?
I will use most elementsin my final production as I talked about dark locations, with dim
lighting and messy backgrounds. Those examplesare good for my game as they all fit into
a basic crime scene and also the dark locations and messy backgrounds make it
challenging for the game players to complete the level.
Legal & Ethical Considerations:
Think about any offensive material you will include?
Will you restrict younger people using/accessing it?
Will it offend any social groups/religions/ethnicities?
How will you ensure you do not offend anyone?
Are you using characters/names/logos of existing products/IPs?
Will your product be sufficiently different from existing products to not get sued for copyright
infringement?
My game won’t have any offensive material, won’t offend any social groups, religions or ethnicities.
The only thing that will restrict younger people playing this game is the blood and possibly the
inappropriate weapons. I will ensure I don’t offend anyone by researching the beliefs of the social
groups, religions and ethnicities and make sure I will not include what is offensive or if might trigger
that specific group then I will include it and make sure it is known before starting the game. I don’t
think I will use any characters that are already existing. The only thing that exists in other games is
the name word criminal. My product might have similarities to other games, with the idea of finding
items but I will also make sure that there will be differences.
