Hope Smith proposes to create a music video for the song "Stealing All My Friends" by Carlie Hanson. The concept is to depict the five stages of grief through changing settings to create an odd and creepy narrative. I will mostly be working with film and a little bit of photography to make an album cover.
Rationale:
The first project I did at the start of the year was the music video project so I can learn from my
mistakes I made during that, like make sure I film more than I need so I don’t run out of footage for
the video and remember to film landscape this time, that project also gave me video editing skills
that I didn’t have when I started so my editing will be better. For the last project we had to make a
poster for advertisement, I will be able to use some of the photoshop skills I learnt from that on the
album cover.
Project Concept:
For my final major project, I am going to make a music video for the song ‘stealing all my friends’
by Carlie Hanson. The concept for the video is to make it creepy and unusual but I want there to
be a narrative of going through the 5 stages of grief (denial, anger, bargaining, depression,
acceptance) because the song is about losing your friends. In the video there will be a few different
settings that I want to make as different from each other as possible to add to the odd/out of place
look of it all. For my research I will watch a lot of music videos form alternative artists that have
similar style videos to the one I want to make, one person I will be researching is YUNGBLUD as
he is my biggest inspiration for my choice in video style. This will help me with my project because
I will be able to see common themes and props used in alternative videos, the different camera
techniques and the way the videos are edited together.
How will the project be evaluated and reviewed:
I will be using a Microsoft forms document for all my reflections at the end of each day so I can
keep track of my progress as I go along. For my evaluation at the end of the project I will be using
PowerPoint this will make it easier to evaluate all sections/aspects of my work.
