The Modern Day Financial Instruments Involving Option...
Risk Management involving the commodities market has always been a concern for several
international companies. The best substantial method to cope with currency risk is using currency
derivatives. Many countries are interdependent on each other due to Globalization, which has led to
increasing exposure to exchange rate volatility. Recent studies have shown that risk cannot be
eliminated completely but it can be minimized when companies make decisions, which are backed by
the correct risk management policies. We found out in this paper that there is no single best method to
manage currency risk, but hedging using options provides us with the most accurate or profitable
outcomes.
In this paper we will try to study the modern day financial ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Various companies including insurers and banks were exposed to high risk in terms of rate of interest,
exchange rates and price of commodities and raw materials. Derivatives then became increasingly
popular to minimize the risk of volatility in the market.
Financial derivatives are basically contracts between two parties under which they agree to exchange a
commodity on a certain date. In simple words derivatives are insurance policies used by a company to
minimize its exposure to volatility.
It was found out that during the period of 1975 to 2009 the volatility in foreign investments was
reduced due to currency hedging. In this paper we talk about the various currency options, which are
used by various corporations and banks for hedging. We use the example of crude oil to better
understand the concept.
The various types of currency derivatives are futures, options, currency swaps and forwards. There are
three types of exchange rate risks translation, transaction and economic exposure.
Globalization has made the world a smaller place and the exposure to overseas markets is increasing.
In order to last long this competitive environment the companies have to focus on all the aspects to
make the maximum profits, which makes it essential for them to manage risk in exchange rate. The
graph below shows the volatility of the GBP as compared to INR.

Protecting our Future
According to a recent study, rapist and child molesters are arrested once for every 30 offenses they
commit (Leo, 2). Scary thought for the human race, especially for parents with children under 18.
How is a sexual predator defined? Once this has been identified then the need to examine why internet

Sexual predators suffer from low self esteem with a need for power and control. They lack empathy.
Many reported offenders are male, with a history of abuse and a troubled childhood. Men are child
molesters in at least ninety seven percent of reported cases (Sanford, 83). One investigation noted
eighty percent of sexual offenders had committed their first crime by age of thirty with all by the age
of forty. Between 200 and 300 men are prosecuted to every one woman (Sanford, 83). Research has
uncovered repeated drug and/or alcohol abuse issues among convicted predators. Lastly, sexual
offenders suffer from deviant sexual behavior and attitudes (Henderson, 39). Further exploration
discovered that the choice of sexual expression correlates more to the child s age then the offenders
(Sanford, 87). Offenders do not form intimate relationships with other adults (Henderson, 39). Eight
five percent of sexual activity was nonorgasmic with one fourth of activity ending before any
stimulation occurred by the offender (Sanford, 83). Now that we know some offenders characteristics,
it is paramount that we learn to identify traits that may be common to youthful victims.
Characteristics of a victim Crimes against Children Research Center (CCRC) at the University of New
Hampshire found current research makes the stereotype of the online child molester who uses trickery

Ankle Dorsiflexion
Methods
Participants
A total of 13 participants contributed to this study (7 males, 6 females) all in which were measured for
vertical jump height, broad jump length, and dorsiflexion of the ankle. The inclusion criteria were
students of Austin Peay State University in the Health and Human Performance department. Must be
physically able to perform exercise testing and training. Also, students must be above the age of 18.
The exclusion criteria consisted of any past injuries that would cause pain or discomfort during the
activities. Students who are not a part of the Health and Human Performance Master s program and
students under the age of 18 are also excluded. This project was reviewed and approved by Dr.
Timothy Leszczak.

A total of 13 participated in the research study (7 males, 6 females). The average age of males in the
study was 23.14 ± 0.90 and the average age of females were 25.17 ± 3.25. The average height for
males were 70.36 ± 3.04 inches and for females 66 ± 2.10 inches. The mean weight and body fat for
males were 194.53 ± 17.49 lbs. and 18.03 ± 4.99 %, respectively. For female s body weight was
155.83 ± 27.74 lbs. and 25.32 ± 5.45 body fat percentage. After conducting a Pearson Correlation,
Table 2 describes the results using P value and alpha significance. A moderate correlation was found in
the combined scores between ankle dorsiflexion and broad jump (r = 0.45; P value = 0.12). Another
moderate correlation was recorded when compared between ankle dorsiflexion and vertical jump in a
combined group (r = 0.42; P value = 0.15). Males showed a higher correlation between ankle
dorsiflexion and vertical jump (r = 0.42; P value = 0.35), while females showed a lower correlation (r
= 0.37; P value = 0.47). Additionally, there was a higher correlation in males between ankle

Ventilator Associated Pneumonia Compounds The Risks Of...
Ventilator associated pneumonia compounds the risks that critically ill patients face in hospitalization.
It affects a high proportion of patients on ventilators and has a fluctuating morbidity rate. The goal of
this paper is to demonstrate the potential usefulness of chlorhexidine in preventing ventilator
associated pneumonia in adults. The paper features a review of literature found via MedScape using
the keywords chlorhexidine, ventilator associated pneumonia, long term ventilation and prevention.
The results show that there is a positive correlation between using chlorhexidine in the oral care of
patients using a ventilator; however, the evidence thus far does not present an opportunity to promote
any clinical recommendations. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This literature review will look to see whether critical care patients (P) can benefit from chlorhexidine
treatment (I) as compared to tradition oral care (C) to prevent ventilator associated pneumonia (O)
during the patients stay in the hospital (T). The literature demonstrates a potential link between
chlorhexidine treatment, oral health care and a potential reduction in the number of cases and
ventilator associated pneumonia, ultimately recommending further studies.
Literature Search The literature found in this study was found by searching for relevant papers on
MedScape. The keywords chlorhexidine, ventilator associated pneumonia, long term ventilation and
prevention.
Literature Review
In a trial by Arti et al, researchers used chlorhexidine to attempt to prevent ventilator associated
pneumonia in children (2013). The group included 86 patients who were divided into two groups to
complete a double blind, randomized placebo controlled trial. The first group included 41 children
who received 1% chlorhexidine gel every eight hours. The second group included 45 children who
received a placebo gel. The length of the study was three weeks, or until the patient was extubated.
The results demonstrated that 12 of out of the 41 children who received chlorhexidine and 14 out of
the 45 placebo patients developed ventilator associated pneumonia. The results showed that there was
no clear reduction in the occurrence of pneumonia

How Is Capulet Change In Romeo And Juliet
In Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, there are many characters that change throughout the
play, but the character that changes the most is Capulet. At the beginning of the play, Capulet loves
and cares about Juliet. He wants her to experience the world and enjoy her life before she is married.
Unfortunately, by the end of the play, he is crazy and doesn t care about her. He gives her an
ultimatum to marry Paris or be shunned by the family. When Paris asks for Juliet s hand in marriage at
the beginning of the play, Capulet states: My child is yet a stranger in the world, / She hath not seen
the change of fourteen years; / Let two more summers wither in their pride, / Ere we may think her
ripe to be a bride (1.2.8 11). Capulet s answer shows his care and respect for his daughter. ... Show

Summary Of The Three Miracles Of Saint Zenobius
The work of art that I have chosen to write about, is the Three Miracles of Saint Zenobius (1500 10).
This painting is part of a bigger collection that depicts scenes from the life of Saint Zenobius. It s
sister pieces are spread out in different parts of the world, such places as, London, Dresden and New
York itself. The painter of this entire collection is Sandro Botticelli (1445 1510) and he belongs to the
Early part of the Renaissance. It is worth to note, that Botticelli was taught by Filippo Lippi. Fra
Filippo Lippi was a prominent artist of his time and he painted his work with great color and as well
with a narrative quality. Botticelli himself made a name for himself by his artistic style and to his
contribution to painting the frescoes of the Sistine Chapel and even though his most notable work of
art was the Birth of Venus that was created eighteen years prior to the Three Miracles, this piece of
work takes a different approach than his other paintings. The painting itself resembles the Scenes from
the life of Saint John the Baptist (1490/95) and it could be said that Botticelli was inspired by it.
The medium of the painting was Tempera on wood and this was common practice use of painting
during the early part of the Renaissance. The painting itself tells a story. It shows three miracles that
saint Zenobius performed. In the first scene, we are shown Zenobius beside what is believed to be a
funeral procession for a young boy. In the painting itself, it is

The Ethics Of Scientific Knowledge
Cortni Volkman
7/30/2015
Science surrounds just about every aspect of human interaction but where does this scientific
knowledge come from? The communication of scientific knowledge trickles in a fashion opposite to
that of the filtration of water through a carbon scrubber, where the highest concentration of pure
scientific knowledge exists within the prestigious community of scientists and scientific knowledge
within the academic and public communities has to be filtered from the other particles of ideas,
leaving much room for interpretation. This paper will explore these different interactions among
various communities and how it shapes communication of scientific knowledge. One such community
is that of the very scientists who do the research and publications which supply much of the scientific
knowledge we know today. However, research and publishing is heavily time consuming and
expensive so many scientist must seek out funding. Bias, or a conflict of interest, can be argued to
exist in all aspects of science depending on when and how results are obtained. It is without discourse
than to argue that all research, even that done at collegiate level, has some amount of bias whether
from the funding received, the council from professors or advisors, or the availability of more
advanced technology to obtain data (Krimsky 2012). Such bias from technological means can even
limit what scientists can publish. Often the military relies on scientists for their expertise in

The Theory Of The Broken Windows Theory Essay
In 1969 Philip Zimbardo conducted an experiment. He placed two identical cars in two contrasting
neighbourhoods: one prim and proper, and the other run down and disordered. Within two days the car
in the run down neighbourhood was ruined. The other car wasn t ruined until Zimbardo took a
hammer to the window and shattered it. It didn t take long for others to step in and completely ruin the
car (Engel et al., 2014).
Zimbardo s experiment is the basis and inspiration of the broken windows theory (Engel et al., 2014).
The theory posits that disorder leads to crime, or as Keizer, Lindenberg, and Steg (2008) put it, Signs
of inappropriate behavior like graffiti or broken windows lead to other inappropriate behavior . The
theory presents a snowball effect form disorder to crime. There has been much debate over the validity
of the theory, but the research shows that disorder broken windows does lead to crime.
Developing Broken Windows Theory
History
James Wilson and George Kelling first developed the theory in 1982. They claimed that public
disorder matters which are visible and public and pose concerns to the public at large (Ranasinghe,
2011) leads to serious crime. Countless research has been done since the theory s first inception, but
perhaps the most notable test and application of the theory was in the New York subway system from
1990 to 1993, during which the crime rate decreased by 35 percent in the subway, and 18 percent in
the city overall (Morris, 2016). There

(25 marks) * Party control in the House of Commons refers to the size of majority of the majority
party in the House of Commons and the effectiveness of the party s whipping system. If there is a
large majority, then parliament s main functions, such as representation, scrutiny and legislation will
significantly be limited in terms of its effectiveness.
Firstly, party control, and therefore the size of majority, such as Blair s majority of 178 in 1997, limits
the effectiveness of parliaments legislative function because it would be harder for parliament to
defeat government bills, for example, in 2009 10, 23/23 government bills were passed in the House of
Commons, however only 6/67 private member s bills were passed in the House of Commons.
However, party control does not always limit the effectiveness of Parliament as backbench rebellions
are occurring more often in recent parliaments, such as 138 labour MPs voted against the Labour
government of 1997 2007 on the Iraq war, therefore the whipping system does not always encourage
party MPs to support the government and therefore do the poll vote .
Furthermore, party control in the House of Commons does not necessarily limit the effectiveness of
parliament in performing its main functions, as for the House of Lords, there is no democratic
legitimacy or popular authority, and therefore as are unelected, most peers hold specialist

The Development And Testing Of An Intermediate Concept...
Ability of Children to
Identify Bad Choices and Justifications
Kent S. Michael
The University of Alabama
Introduction Stephen Thoma, W. Pitt Derryberry, and H. Michael Crowson published an article (2013)
outlining the development and testing of an intermediate concept measure (ICM) of moral reasoning
on an adolescent population, and one of the unexpected findings was the difficulty of research
participants to accurately identify bad choices and justifications (Thoma et al., 2013). It is important to
note that an analogous pattern was found in a previous study utilizing the ICM with young adults in
their last year of dental school (Bebeau Thoma, 1999). To the author s knowledge, a similar study has
not been conducted on a younger segment of the population. The purpose of this proposal is to assess
whether children aged 9 11 also struggle when identifying bad choices and justifications.
Literature Review
Moral Reasoning A brief overview of the history of moral psychology in the Kohlbergian tradition is
necessary to understand the significance and need for the current proposal. Jean Piaget presented his
construct of moral reasoning in his theory of development, and he found there were two stages of
moral reasoning heterenomous and autonomous. The former is associated with Piaget s concrete
operational stage as moral reasoning is dependent upon the relational context of the child and
authority figures (parents, God, etc.) and is inductive by nature. The latter is

Essay on Comparison of the Power of One Movie and Book
Differences and Similarities in a Tale of Courage
For many years Hollywood has been making blockbuster movies based on bestselling novels, but
often these movies differ greatly from the novel . The movie The Power of One based on a book of the
same name follows this trend. The Power of One tells the story of Peekay, a boy living in South Africa
who dreams of becoming the welterweight champion of the world, and who tries to correct the
injustice that goes on around him. Although the movie does keep the main themes of the novel like
racism and how one person can change the world. The film adds new plot twists and characters that
make the story more exciting, but also changes important characters and storylines from the ... Show

Peekays mom is another character that appeared in both the novel and film, but not in the same
context. In both versions Peekays mother suffers a Nervous breakdown, causing Peekay to be sent in
boarding school. In the movie she dies after Peekay is sent to boarding school from an unknown
cause. While in the book she recovers from her mental breakdown and becomes a Born again
Christian. By eliminating the mother, the movie does not show the complicated relationship Peekay
had with his mother in the book.
An obvious difference between a novel and its movie is the way characters are portrayed. In the movie
of The Power of One, the protagonist is portrayed very similar to the novel. In both the novel and film
Peekay is portrayed as a courageous hero who faces adversity, and who tries to change the world
around him. One thing the movie does not truly show like the book did, is Peekay s desire to become
the welterweight champion of the world. If I had to choose between becoming the welterweight
champion of the world and taking a law degree at oxford, the boxing would win [Courtenay 463].In
the movie Peekays boxing takes a back seat to his desire to help the black people of South Africa .
While in the book, Peekay s dream of becoming the welterweight champion of the world is the main
focus in the protagonists mind. Morrie is another character that is portrayed differently from the book.
In the movie Morrie role is not as prominent

Important Aspects Of A Business
1. Introduction
In an expanding business, it is vital to have a HR specialist. They will carry out recruitment
procedures, induction and training days and will also have significant knowledge of employment
legislations. This is helpful as information is kept in one place and will only require a small team of
people to hold it for the rest of the business.
2. Recruitment functions
The recruitment industry is used to attract, interview and hire potential candidates for jobs. This is an
extremely important aspect of a business as employees determine how the business will run and
progress. To find the right candidates for a position, certain functions are required.

This is required to attract the right ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All potential candidates should then be shortlisted and sent to the hiring manager.
2.4 Interviewing applicants
The interview allows the employer and interviewee to validate information on both sides. There are
different types of formal interviews consisting of a telephone interview, one on one face to face
interview, panel interview, group interview and virtual interview e.g. skype. All interviews require a
set of relevant questions in regards to the position and company. All interview questions should flow
and allow the interviewee to expand on their relevant skills and experience providing examples.
2.5 Selecting and hiring
Once the interviews have been completed, candidates will all be evaluated and the most suitable will
be chosen. Once you have chosen the candidate you will need to carry out reference checks with
previous employers. This is important as it will inform you of the type of person they are and how
they work.
2.6 Offer
Once the candidate has been offered and they have accepted, the HR team must be made aware so
they can send out an offer of employment letter. The candidate must then sign a copy to send back to
the head office. Inductions and training will follow once this has been received.
1. The importance of inductions and training
Induction programmes provide the chance to welcome new employees and support them on their new

Dbq Essay On The 18th Amendment
The 18th Amendment dealt with prohibiting the manufacture, transportation, and sale of alcohol. This
amendment was ratified by the U.S. government and was probably one of the most futile proposals
they could have ever came up with. The 18th amendment should have never been approved because it
just gave Americans an alternative to break the law. Also, the government itself lost a great deal .
Americans would ,in a sense, never give up alcholol, leaving the American government helpless with
no other decision then to repeal the ban. To begin, the 18th amendment should have never been
ratified because it gave Americans that spark of rebellion to break the law. Americans did not want to
listen to the 18th amendment and deliberatley set up discreet locations just for them to drink alcohol.
Document 2 states Many people in the U.S. opposed this amendment and violated the law by going to
places called speakeasies to drink Document 2 also states Unfortunatley, many speakeasies make

Essay on Working in Groups and Social Loafing
Social loafing is the effect that people will exert less effort if they are working in a collective
environment. Working in groups is an integral part of everyday life because it happens in almost every
context whether it is sports teams, organizational groups, project groups and even juries. Therefore it
is important to understand the underlying factors that influence this construct. The current research
composed of 20 participants, investigated the social loafing effect of two working conditions:
Coactive and Collective. It was hypothesized that collective groups would have significantly lower
scores than coactive and the results supported this prediction strongly as there was a significant
difference between the groups. These results ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore it is important to understand the factors that motivate or demotivate individuals in those
contexts in order to improve the collective outcomes that could generally be critiqued as unreliable or
invalid due to the social loafing effect. Previous studies have indicated that the type of cognitive task
performed mediates the effect social loafing. For example in challenging tasks that involved
brainstorming or generating an ideas, the work teams had an opportunity to contribute their own
unique ideas that made it more likely that they suffered consequences of social loafing (Robbins,
1995). Personal involvement has been said to mediate the effects of social loafing. This is a situation
where the subjects have intrinsic value or personal meaning that play an important role in the
participants lives (Brickner et al., 1986) As a result, high involvement subjects produced more
favourable thoughts whereas low involvement did not. Weldon and Gargano (1988) suggested that
anonymity is associated with group performance. Basically, the larger the group the more difficult it is
to monitor individual performance thus individual efforts are unknown and they are free to loaf
without fear of social judgment (Weldon Gargano, 1988). Therefore it is consistent to say that
although social loafing is expected to occur in most collective tasks, this can be decreased or even
eliminated if the group performance is being compared to other

Limiting Access To Abortions
Limiting Access to Abortions Limits a Woman s Life
When we had to interview women from different decades, I decided to approach my grandma on the
opinions in regards to abortions when she was growing up. It turns out that much of the controversy
that was around back then, still exists today. According to her, accidental pregnancies resulted in going
away for a while , or back alley abortions , which no one would dare discuss. In these procedures a
doctor , or some strange person would remove or kill the baby by using a coat hanger and inserting it
into the uterus. This was back in the 50 s and while back alley abortions seem like they would be
uncommon in this day in age with all of the available resources, the numbers of unsafe abortions ...

abortion as researched in developing countries, If young girls became pregnant they used to be

A History of the World in Sex Glasses Essay
A History of the World in Six Glasses: Summary
Beer
The discovery of beer happened around 10000 BCE. The hunter gatherers, located in the Fertile
Crescent, collected cereal grains because they could be stored for a number of months if kept dry and
safe. The storage of grains made it harder to have a nomadic lifestyle; therefore the people started
staying in one place. They would try to make water tight storage areas, however water did eventually
get into them. After the grain would get wet and the people would cook it, it turned into gruel and
when that was left sitting around for a few days it would turn into beer. Beer became important
because it was safer to drink, due to the fact that you cooked it which got rid of bacteria. In the ...

6. Beers relationship with writing is that some of the first records are receipts for the selling of beer.
The cuneiform symbol for beer had changed over the years to become more abstract. Beers
relationship with commerce is that it was used as a currency. When laborers were being paid in both
Mesopotamia and Egypt they were given a certain amount of bread and beer depending on the job.
This ties in with writing due to the fact that the people kept records of the amount that they were paid.
Beer was actually healthy due to the fact that it wouldn t be completely fermented, therefore it would
contain yeast that provided nutrients and vitamins. The Egyptians believed that it could be used with
other ingredients to cure illnesses like indigestion and constipation. It was also used as a sedative.
Wine
Wine, known as the beer of the mountains was first produced during the Neolithic period between
9000 and 4000 BCE. There were two factors in the Zagros Mountains that made the production of
wine possible; an abundance of the Eurasian grape vine, Vitis vinifera sylvestris, and cereal crops.
Grapes contain natural yeast that will convert the sugars in the juice to alcohol; that way when people
started to store grapes they would eventually turn into wine. The earliest evidence of wine came from
a jar from the village Hajji Firuz Tepe and dated back to 5400 BCE. Wine became important because
it was a main part of religion, medicine, commerce, and became a

Wage Gaps and Demographic Behavior
*Works Cited Not Included
We examine the possible sources of the larger racial and ethnic wage gaps for men than for women in
the U.S. Specifically, using a newly created employer employee matched data set containing workers
in essentially all occupations, industries, and regions, we examine whether these wage differences can
be accounted for by differences between men and women in the patterns of racial and ethnic
segregation within occupation, industry, establishments and occupation establishment cells. To the
best of our knowledge, this is the first paper to examine segregation by race and ethnicity at the level
of establishment and job cell. Our results indicate that greater segregation between ... Show more

In this paper we examine more closely the possible sources of the differences in the wage gap, paying
particular attention to whether these differences can be accounted for by differences between men and
women in the patterns of racial and ethnic segregation.(3) More generally, we believe that research on
why racial and ethnic wage gaps differ by sex may ultimately prove useful in helping to understand
the sources of these gaps. For example, if one believes that the observed wage differentials are the
result of employer or customer discrimination (e.g., Darity and Mason, 1998) then one needs to try to
explain why this discrimination is apparently more severe with respect to male employees. In general,
if one believes that some other unmeasured characteristic is responsible for these wage differences,
then evidence that this characteristic is more important for men than for women would bolster one s
case.
This inquiry fits into an extensive literature on the role of segregation in generating racial, ethnic, and
sex differences in labor markets, but takes this literature in a new direction. In the literature on sex
differences in wages, considerable attention has focused on the role of occupational segregation, in
particular the concentration of women in low wage occupations (e.g., Johnson and Solon, 1986;
Sorensen, 1989; Macpherson and

The Pros And Cons Of Hypnosis
Have you ever wondered if hypnosis works on curing people with illnesses? Some people must be
asking how a hypnosis that we watch on television and in magic show can help with curing illnesses?
Does swinging a pocket watch in front of someone s eyes until they fall asleep or be in a state of
unconscious mind, could help in improving health condition? The answer is yes! Since hypnosis now
is very popular as alternative medical treatment and it has been proven by scientific studies, people are
looking forward to try this natural type of healing instead of having conventional treatment. Medical
experts started to use hypnotherapy as one of the treatment in the medical fields around the nineteenth

practitioners and patients to take advantage of the mind body connection to foster healing.
Furthermore, by focusing on their healing process through the power of mind, it may remove

Students are being handcuffed, arrested and expelled for possession of a butter knife or water gun,
punishment that disproportionately targets African American students, students being alienated and
never returning to school after being suspended or expelled are all byproducts of the zero tolerance
policies adopted by their school district. School administrators have abandoned common sense due to
their adherence to zero tolerance policies by applying the same discipline to students that are guilty of
minor offenses and non violent rules violations, or just poor judgment as they due to ... Show more

From the beginning, the zero tolerance policies have been reactionary policies to problems that have
other root causes that cannot be solved by criminalizing every action that falls outside of the law, and
by mandating punishment for all school violations regardless of the situation or circumstance, schools
systems have created larger educational problems than they have solved in their reaction to some very
unfortunate school shootings.
One of the problems that have been created by the implementation of the zero tolerance policies is the
elimination of common sense when determining punishment for non threatening and non violent
offenses. Administrators have stopped considering the intent of an action or the circumstances of the
event. The Lindsay Brown case is a good example of how school administrators have stopped utilizing
common sense when a violation has occurred. Lindsey Brown was a high school student that was in
the process of moving and had several boxes in her car from the move when she went to school the
next day. One of the boxes containing some kitchen items fell over in her car while she was driving;
Lindsey parked her car and went to class. The school security officer noticed a knife on the floor of
Lindsey s car while she was in class.

Renewable Sources Of Fossil Fuels
Abstract Fossil fuels are non renewable sources of energy that were form billions of years ago. The
three different types of fossil fuels in the world include: oil, coal and natural gas. Although each of the
three types of fossil fuels are extracted differently they are all processed and used as the world s
primary sources of energy. Being the world s primary sources of energy, fossil fuel experience
advantages as well as disadvantages as an energy source. The use of fossil fuels, as an energy source,
impact the environment as well as social, economic and political aspects of the world.
Fossil Fuels; Beginning of Existence The existence of fossil fuels stem from the Carboniferous Period
in time (U.S. Department of Energy, Fossil Energy). According to an article from Energy Source the
creation of fossil fuels came about when prehistoric plants and animals died and then buried under the
Earth for millions of years (Fossil). The formation of the different types of fossil fuels depend on a
few factors such as: what combination of organic matter was present, how long it was buried and what
temperature and pressure conditions existed as time passed. (Fossil). Fossil fuels are considered a non
renewable source of energy because once every ounce of this particular energy is gone, more cannot
be produced. According to an article from Science Learn, Non renewable energy resources cannot be
replaced once they are used up, they will not be restored (or not for millions of

Animes Research Paper
Music to the Ears After a stressful week of school and work, it is finally the weekend. People often do
many activities to have fun or feel productive during the weekend. Similar to myself, I watched an
anime over the weekend. Animes are animated TV shows produced by Japanese companies. Watching
animes on my weekends relieves the stress from school, but also can change the point of my views
seen in society. A prime example of an anime I watched this weekend was Your Lie In April. Its
Japanese name is Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso. Your Lie In April is a story about a young boy name

that is being played by Arima and Kaori makes up for the pacing. Their music of them playing the
piano and violin brings harmony and beauty to this anime. Listening to the soundtrack of this anime
brings good things to the ears. Also, a counter to the slow pacing is the animations of the anime.
Combining animations with the soundtracks brings beauty to the eye. They entwine together to make

English has become the world dominant language due to many factors. From the seventeenth century

Women In King Shahrayar s A Thousand And One Nights
Outside of sex, learned women could manipulate powerful men via their intellectual abilities,
reflecting the increased amount of knowledge they could potentially gain. Shahrazad takes on this role
in A Thousand and One Nights, a frame narrative translated from Arabic into a Syrian manuscript in
the fourteenth century centering on King Shahrayar s disillusionment with women. After seeing his
wife, his brother s wife, and a demon s wife all have affairs, he decides to take a bride every night and
kill her at dawn in an attempt to avoid women s cunning nature. Yet Shahrazad, the vizier s daughter,
makes the king face women s cunning nonetheless by volunteering as the next bride to save women.
By telling nightly stories that end on cliffhangers, Shahrazad ensures that the king s desire to listen to
her overpowers his desire to kill her. Simultaneously, she weaves moral lessons into her stories that
make Shahrayar reconsider his generalizations of women. Unlike the average person, Shahrazad could
keep up the charade because she had read the books of literature, philosophy, and medicine. She knew
poetry by heart, had studied historical reports, and was acquainted with the sayings of men and the
maxims of sages and kings (Nights 562). With her unique knowledge of literature and philosophy,
Shahrazad wins the king over by producing meaningful stories night after night. In the end, she
outsmarts him by manipulating him into changing his plans without even noticing. As she subverts

Sergio Hernandez Guereca was shot by Jesus Mesa Jr. in 2010 on the Mexico United States border.
Sergio was on the Mexican side while Mesa was on the American side. Sergio s parents are now trying

and if constitutional protections extend across the border. What implications would be made if the
Guerecas are allowed to sue? What do those implications mean? Everything will be explained and

about cross border shootings. Justice Elena Kagan said, the dividing line isn t even marked on the

Bader is sympathetic with the Guereca s case. Someone killed on the American side of the border
would have rights while a someone a few feet away wouldn t. She says that it doesn t make a whole
lot of sense. Randolph J. Ortega, a lawyer for Mr. Mesa, fired back, Wars have been fought to

mentioned were not fully against the lawsuit.
The article excludes the views of two justices. They were Justices Sotomayor and Thomas. All the
Justices that were included all supported the case or had mixed feelings. Maybe the two justices did
not express their opinions or they could have opposed the lawsuit. In the article, it said that four more
liberal justices were inclined to vote to allow the parents to sue. But it was less certain that they could
capture the crucial fifth vote of Justice Anthony M. Kennedy. This may mean that some did oppose the
suit and were not included. It can mean that this article is slightly biased if the other two justices had
comments, but were not in it. No one knows for sure who were the four more liberal justices who

Quest for Personal Identity in Toni Morrison s the Bluest Eye
Post World War I, many new opportunities were given to the growing and
expanding group of African Americans living in the North. Almost 500,00
African Americans moved to the northern states between 1910 and 1920. This
was the beginning of a continuing migration northward. More than 1,500,000
blacks went north in the 1930 s and 2,500,00 in the 1940 s. Life in the
North was very hard for African Americans. Race riots, limited housing
resulting in slum housing, and restricted job opportunities were only a few
of the many hardships that the African American people had to face at this
time. Families often had to separate, social agencies were overcrowded with

how can she think that she is worth anything at all?
Finally the rape by her father is the last evidence Pecola needs to believe

the exact opposite. He hurts Pecola in a physical way that in one attempt

She was so sad to see. Grown people looked away; children, those who were not

her days, walking up and down her head jerking to the beat of a drummer so
distant only she could hear.

Telling A False Statement On Voice Spectrum
Research Plan:
The rationale of this project is to test and experiment on the idea that your voice spectrum is affected
when you lie, to gain further knowledge on how to prevent and detect liars. As human beings, most of
us lie more than we want to think we do. Lying is considered a wrong doing and given time to think
most liars recognize it, but some of the first concerns among humans is self preservation, self esteem,
and dodging consequences or dangerous situations. People lie verbally and nonverbally through body
language, facial expressions, etc. A person s voice can demonstrate aspects of their inner feelings
which can help researchers in recognizing cues in someone s voice towards their emotional state and
in making robots that have abilities to allow it to become constructive in our society, doing tasks like
detecting deception. Understanding the basic concept of lying, how, and why people do it can assist
engineers, and scientists to better protect our nation from deceit and to expand onto the idea of voice
analysis. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

voice reveals aspects of how they feel, and when someone experiences cognitive dissonance or other
troubling emotions from lying, it will be hard to control the sudden changes in their pitch as they react
to questions (Speech Emotion Analysis). It is expected that if someone is asked to lie on a basic
question that is programmed in their brain as wrong it will be more difficult to conceal the

As mentioned on previous pages, the idea of having a federal holiday for voting is not a new idea. As
expressed in previous pages, in the recent years, the idea has become popular with Bernie s Bill, The

are also trying to make voting day become a holiday. Surprisingly, Rainn Wilson created a video
portraying how antiquated the laws surrounding voting day are. The video explains why America
votes on a Tuesday and how irrelevant it is to still practice voting on that day. Wilson also poked fun
at the notorious voter identification laws which also have been proven to be fatuous. Wilson s video

Acts of Violence and Brutality Illustrated in Jackson s...
From the beginning of time, human nature has lent itself to violence and brutality. You see evidence of
this as you read the news, or watch television. You might have been, or will be, the victim of this dark
side of human nature. Looking back to the children of Adam and Eve, Cain killed his brother, Abel,
marking, as I heard in a theology class, what many theologies claim as the paradigm for conflict and
violence. Throughout our readings in The Story and It s Writer: An Introduction to Short Fiction, we
have seen many episodes of violence and brutality, ranging from torment to ritualistic murder. What
do these acts represent within each story? In examining The Lottery by Shirley Jackson, and
comparing it to Sweat by Zora Neale ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In comparing the acts of violence and what they represent in these two stories, I feel it s important to
summarize the events that lead up to the violence.
Jackson s The Lottery begins with a description of a clear and sunny day in June. The narrations
describe the activities of the village residents, each activity done as cheerfully as if it were a town
picnic, the same as the years prior. If you look closer into the description of the activities, and the
character s involved in them, you will see a division of gender that is stereotypical. The boys gathered
stones, protecting the pile against the raids of the other boys, while the girls stood to the side, talking
amongst themselves (365). This reminds me of the boys will be boys comments that our society has
used to explain away the rowdiness of boys in contrast to the mild manners that most girls present
with. The story moves on to describe the activities of the men and women, in much the same way. The
men are standing around talking about planting and rain, tractors and taxes (365), these would be
considered men s things in past and present society. The women greeted one another and exchanged
bits of gossip, which is the image of women that society presents to us. Nothing in the activities, to
this point, reveals the horrific scene that will play out in the end. The boys gathering stones, while
significant to the brutality at the

The best substantial method to cope with currency risk is using currency derivatives. Many countries are interdependent on each other due to Globalization, which has led to increasing exposure to exchange rate volatility. Recent studies have shown that risk cannot be eliminated completely but it can be minimized when companies make decisions, which are backed by the correct risk management policies. Various companies including insurers and banks were exposed to high risk in terms of rate of interest, exchange rates and price of commodities and raw materials. Derivatives then became increasingly popular to minimize the risk of volatility in the market. Financial derivatives are basically contracts between two parties under which they agree to exchange a commodity on a certain date. In simple words derivatives are insurance policies used by a company to minimize its exposure to volatility. It was found out that during the period of 1975 to 2009 the volatility in foreign investments was reduced due to currency hedging. In this paper we talk about the various currency options, which are used by various corporations and banks for hedging. We use the example of crude oil to better understand the concept. The various types of currency derivatives are futures, options, currency swaps and forwards. There are three types of exchange rate risks translation, transaction and economic exposure. Many reported offenders are male, with a history of abuse and a troubled childhood. Men are child molesters in at least ninety seven percent of reported cases (Sanford, 83). One investigation noted eighty percent of sexual offenders had committed their first crime by age of thirty with all by the age of forty. Between 200 and 300 men are prosecuted to every one woman (Sanford, 83). Research has uncovered repeated drug and/or alcohol abuse issues among convicted predators. Lastly, sexual offenders suffer from deviant sexual behavior and attitudes (Henderson, 39). Further exploration discovered that the choice of sexual expression correlates more to the child s age then the offenders (Sanford, 87). Offenders do not form intimate relationships with other adults (Henderson, 39). Eight five percent of sexual activity was nonorgasmic with one fourth of activity ending before any stimulation occurred by the offender (Sanford, 83). How Is Capulet Change In Romeo And Juliet In Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, there are many characters that change throughout the play, but the character that changes the most is Capulet. When Paris asks for Juliet s hand in marriage at the beginning of the play, Capulet states: My child is yet a stranger in the world, / She hath not seen the change of fourteen years; / Let two more summers wither in their pride, / Ere we may think her ripe to be a bride (1.2.8 11). • 8. Summary Of The Three Miracles Of Saint Zenobius The work of art that I have chosen to write about, is the Three Miracles of Saint Zenobius (1500 10). This painting is part of a bigger collection that depicts scenes from the life of Saint Zenobius. It s sister pieces are spread out in different parts of the world, such places as, London, Dresden and New York itself. The painter of this entire collection is Sandro Botticelli (1445 1510) and he belongs to the Early part of the Renaissance. It is worth to note, that Botticelli was taught by Filippo Lippi. Fra Filippo Lippi was a prominent artist of his time and he painted his work with great color and as well with a narrative quality. Botticelli himself made a name for himself by his artistic style and to his contribution to painting the frescoes of the Sistine Chapel and even though his most notable work of art was the Birth of Venus that was created eighteen years prior to the Three Miracles, this piece of work takes a different approach than his other paintings. The painting itself resembles the Scenes from the life of Saint John the Baptist (1490/95) and it could be said that Botticelli was inspired by it. The medium of the painting was Tempera on wood and this was common practice use of painting during the early part of the Renaissance. The painting itself tells a story. It shows three miracles that saint Zenobius performed. In the first scene, we are shown Zenobius beside what is believed to be a funeral procession for a young boy. In the painting itself, it is ... • 9. The Ethics Of Scientific Knowledge Cortni Volkman 7/30/2015 Science surrounds just about every aspect of human interaction but where does this scientific knowledge come from? The communication of scientific knowledge trickles in a fashion opposite to that of the filtration of water through a carbon scrubber, where the highest concentration of pure scientific knowledge exists within the prestigious community of scientists and scientific knowledge within the academic and public communities has to be filtered from the other particles of ideas, leaving much room for interpretation. This paper will explore these different interactions among various communities and how it shapes communication of scientific knowledge. One such community is that of the very scientists who do the research and publications which supply much of the scientific knowledge we know today. However, research and publishing is heavily time consuming and expensive so many scientist must seek out funding. Bias, or a conflict of interest, can be argued to exist in all aspects of science depending on when and how results are obtained. It is without discourse than to argue that all research, even that done at collegiate level, has some amount of bias whether from the funding received, the council from professors or advisors, or the availability of more advanced technology to obtain data (Krimsky 2012). Such bias from technological means can even limit what scientists can publish. Often the military relies on scientists for their expertise in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. The Theory Of The Broken Windows Theory Essay In 1969 Philip Zimbardo conducted an experiment. He placed two identical cars in two contrasting neighbourhoods: one prim and proper, and the other run down and disordered. Within two days the car in the run down neighbourhood was ruined. The other car wasn t ruined until Zimbardo took a hammer to the window and shattered it. It didn t take long for others to step in and completely ruin the car (Engel et al., 2014). Zimbardo s experiment is the basis and inspiration of the broken windows theory (Engel et al., 2014). The theory posits that disorder leads to crime, or as Keizer, Lindenberg, and Steg (2008) put it, Signs of inappropriate behavior like graffiti or broken windows lead to other inappropriate behavior . The theory presents a snowball effect form disorder to crime. There has been much debate over the validity of the theory, but the research shows that disorder broken windows does lead to crime. Developing Broken Windows Theory History James Wilson and George Kelling first developed the theory in 1982. They claimed that public disorder matters which are visible and public and pose concerns to the public at large (Ranasinghe, 2011) leads to serious crime. Countless research has been done since the theory s first inception, but perhaps the most notable test and application of the theory was in the New York subway system from 1990 to 1993, during which the crime rate decreased by 35 percent in the subway, and 18 percent in the city overall (Morris, 2016). If there is a large majority, then parliament s main functions, such as representation, scrutiny and legislation will significantly be limited in terms of its effectiveness. Firstly, party control, and therefore the size of majority, such as Blair s majority of 178 in 1997, limits the effectiveness of parliaments legislative function because it would be harder for parliament to defeat government bills, for example, in 2009 10, 23/23 government bills were passed in the House of Commons, however only 6/67 private member s bills were passed in the House of Commons. However, party control does not always limit the effectiveness of Parliament as backbench rebellions are occurring more often in recent parliaments, such as 138 labour MPs voted against the Labour government of 1997 2007 on the Iraq war, therefore the whipping system does not always encourage party MPs to support the government and therefore do the poll vote . Furthermore, party control in the House of Commons does not necessarily limit the effectiveness of parliament in performing its main functions, as for the House of Lords, there is no democratic legitimacy or popular authority, and therefore as are unelected, most peers hold specialist ... • 12. The Development And Testing Of An Intermediate Concept... Ability of Children to Identify Bad Choices and Justifications Kent S. Michael The University of Alabama Introduction Stephen Thoma, W. Pitt Derryberry, and H. Michael Crowson published an article (2013) outlining the development and testing of an intermediate concept measure (ICM) of moral reasoning on an adolescent population, and one of the unexpected findings was the difficulty of research participants to accurately identify bad choices and justifications (Thoma et al., 2013). It is important to note that an analogous pattern was found in a previous study utilizing the ICM with young adults in their last year of dental school (Bebeau Thoma, 1999). To the author s knowledge, a similar study has not been conducted on a younger segment of the population. The purpose of this proposal is to assess whether children aged 9 11 also struggle when identifying bad choices and justifications. Literature Review Moral Reasoning A brief overview of the history of moral psychology in the Kohlbergian tradition is necessary to understand the significance and need for the current proposal. Jean Piaget presented his construct of moral reasoning in his theory of development, and he found there were two stages of moral reasoning heterenomous and autonomous. The former is associated with Piaget s concrete operational stage as moral reasoning is dependent upon the relational context of the child and authority figures (parents, God, etc.) and is inductive by nature. Essay on Comparison of the Power of One Movie and Book Differences and Similarities in a Tale of Courage For many years Hollywood has been making blockbuster movies based on bestselling novels, but often these movies differ greatly from the novel . The movie The Power of One based on a book of the same name follows this trend. The Power of One tells the story of Peekay, a boy living in South Africa who dreams of becoming the welterweight champion of the world, and who tries to correct the injustice that goes on around him. While in the book she recovers from her mental breakdown and becomes a Born again Christian. By eliminating the mother, the movie does not show the complicated relationship Peekay had with his mother in the book. An obvious difference between a novel and its movie is the way characters are portrayed. In the movie of The Power of One, the protagonist is portrayed very similar to the novel. In both the novel and film Peekay is portrayed as a courageous hero who faces adversity, and who tries to change the world around him. One thing the movie does not truly show like the book did, is Peekay s desire to become the welterweight champion of the world. If I had to choose between becoming the welterweight champion of the world and taking a law degree at oxford, the boxing would win [Courtenay 463].In the movie Peekays boxing takes a back seat to his desire to help the black people of South Africa . This amendment was ratified by the U.S. government and was probably one of the most futile proposals they could have ever came up with. The 18th amendment should have never been approved because it just gave Americans an alternative to break the law. Also, the government itself lost a great deal . Americans would ,in a sense, never give up alcholol, leaving the American government helpless with no other decision then to repeal the ban. Working in groups is an integral part of everyday life because it happens in almost every context whether it is sports teams, organizational groups, project groups and even juries. Therefore it is important to understand the underlying factors that influence this construct. Therefore it is important to understand the factors that motivate or demotivate individuals in those contexts in order to improve the collective outcomes that could generally be critiqued as unreliable or invalid due to the social loafing effect. Previous studies have indicated that the type of cognitive task performed mediates the effect social loafing. For example in challenging tasks that involved brainstorming or generating an ideas, the work teams had an opportunity to contribute their own unique ideas that made it more likely that they suffered consequences of social loafing (Robbins, 1995). Personal involvement has been said to mediate the effects of social loafing. This is a situation where the subjects have intrinsic value or personal meaning that play an important role in the participants lives (Brickner et al., 1986) As a result, high involvement subjects produced more favourable thoughts whereas low involvement did not. Weldon and Gargano (1988) suggested that anonymity is associated with group performance. Basically, the larger the group the more difficult it is to monitor individual performance thus individual efforts are unknown and they are free to loaf without fear of social judgment (Weldon Gargano, 1988). Therefore it is consistent to say that although social loafing is expected to occur in most collective tasks, this can be decreased or even eliminated if the group performance is being compared to other ... The storage of grains made it harder to have a nomadic lifestyle; therefore the people started staying in one place. When laborers were being paid in both Mesopotamia and Egypt they were given a certain amount of bread and beer depending on the job. This ties in with writing due to the fact that the people kept records of the amount that they were paid. Beer was actually healthy due to the fact that it wouldn t be completely fermented, therefore it would contain yeast that provided nutrients and vitamins. In this paper we examine more closely the possible sources of the differences in the wage gap, paying particular attention to whether these differences can be accounted for by differences between men and women in the patterns of racial and ethnic segregation.(3) More generally, we believe that research on why racial and ethnic wage gaps differ by sex may ultimately prove useful in helping to understand the sources of these gaps. For example, if one believes that the observed wage differentials are the result of employer or customer discrimination (e.g., Darity and Mason, 1998) then one needs to try to explain why this discrimination is apparently more severe with respect to male employees. In general, if one believes that some other unmeasured characteristic is responsible for these wage differences, then evidence that this characteristic is more important for men than for women would bolster one s case. This inquiry fits into an extensive literature on the role of segregation in generating racial, ethnic, and sex differences in labor markets, but takes this literature in a new direction.
