D. Shibulal, happened without a hitch, the issue of corporate governance isn t addressed with the
seriousness it deserves.
While concerns about succession are as old as the human race, professional research on succession
planning and management began in earnest in the 1950s (Zaich, 1986). The chief focus of that research
was on CEO succession until the 1980 s (Kesner Sebora, 1994). At that time, due to the growing interest in
human resource planning, still a topic of interest today (Rothwell and Kazanas, 2003) research began to
take on a broader focus that encompassed more than CEO s. The National Academy of Public
Administration (NAPA) defines succession management as a deliberate and systematic effort to project
leadership requirements, identify a pool of high potential candidates, develop leadership competencies in
those candidates through intentional learning experiences, and select leaders from among the pool of
potential leaders.
NEED FOR THE STUDY:
The robust growth of the Indian economy can be attributed to the meteoritic success of Indian IT Industry .
The Indian Software Industry has grown from a mere US $ 150 million in 1991 92 to US $ 5.7 billion in
19992000 to a staggering US $ 47.3 billion in 2008 2009. Poised to become a US$ 225 billion industry by
2020, the
Indian information technology (IT) industry has played a key role in putting India on the global map. The
sector is estimated to have grown by 19 per cent in 2011, clocking revenue of almost

Methane Hydrates And Its Effects On The Environment Essay
Methane hydrates, also known as Methane clathrates, are rapidly becoming a topic of interest to many
looking for alternative energy sources that would ease our reliance on fossil fuels while scientists are
working on innovative new ways to extract the energy with minimal damage to the climate. These natural
gas deposits resting under ocean sediment appear very alluring to governments and other entities looking
for more energy independence. Nations look at energy independence favorably as a way to stay
geopolitically independent and perhaps gain an upper hand in trade with nations that still rely on imported
energy. The total amount of carbon located in gas hydrates in the ocean exceeds the amount of all the oil,
gas, and coal currently being refined in total (Nersesian 2007).

Undocumented Immigrants Be Deported Essay
Immigration has been a hot topic for not only President s Trump first 100 days in office, but also became a
hot topic during the presidential campaign leading up to the election. There are a multitude of different
debates that fall under the immigration category, but an issue that should be discussed in the national
discourse by engaging citizens is the legalization and granting of citizenship to undocumented immigrants
living in the United States. Even though it is heavily debated, undocumented immigrants should be granted
the legal right to become U.S. citizens. A poll done by CNN in March states that 71% of people believe
that the government should not attempt to deport all people current living in the country illegally (Kopan,
1) compared to only 27% that believe illegal immigrants should be deported by the same poll. This is key
in the discussion being debated that undocumented immigrants should be legal citizens of the United
States. There are a significant amount of undocumented immigrants who currently reside in the United
States today. According to the Pew Research ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Undocumented immigrants have created lives here and become part of communities, and it is not right to
take that away from them. Not only is it not inhumane, but also it would hurt the economy as well since
granting citizenship to undocumented workers causing the economy to grow, not stunt its growth. Even
though many believe that undocumented immigrants becoming citizens will harm citizen s jobs, this is also
proven to be false because immigrants create jobs and fill the gaps of the jobs not done by natural born
citizens. Undocumented immigrants also are proven to not commit as many crimes as the American
counterpart, unlike many opponents views. By legalizing and allowing the citizenship of over 11 million
people, our country can grow, not only financially in our economy, but grow as a

Triviality In The Importance Of Being Earnest
In the years between 1837 1901, people had a completely new viewpoint separate from the previous era.
During this frivolous era, people stressed respect, seriousness, and decency. Although one may think there
is nothing wrong with these practices, he or she may not comprehend how intensely the individuals
followed their new current traditions. Author Oscar Wilde thoroughly displays just how people during this
time period acted in his play The Importance of Being Earnest. Wilde pokes fun at various elements of the
Victorian society. To better understand how Wilde s play made fun of the Victorian society, one must look
at the following elements: manners, triviality and immaturity Author Oscar Wilde wanted to stress how
peculiar manners were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Wilde stresses. The play shows an immense amount of immaturity; for example, in the scene where Mr.
Worthing is trying to propose Gwendolen. Gwendolen will not let Worthing get a word out until he
proposes properly, Of course I will, darling. How long you have been about it! I am afraid you have had
very little experience in how to purpose . (Wilde 11). With this being said, Gwendolen is showing a great
sense of immaturity. Instead of letting Mr. Worthing propose in his own way, she will not accept anything
until he gets down on one knee. In another instance of immaturity comes when Algernon takes it upon
himself to pretend he is Mr. Worthing s brother. Algy fails to announce the fact to Jack. Algy takes this
matter very immaturely as stated, Mr. Ernest Worthing has just driven over from the station. He has
brought his luggage with him (Wilde 23). In addition to these selfless acts of immaturity, Wilde also
exhibits immaturity when psychotic Miss. Cardew tells Algernon that they have already been married for
three months. This scene comes about when Algy decides he wants to marry Miss Cardew. You silly boy!
Of course. Why? We have been engaged for the last three months (Wilde 32). This shows severe
immaturity from Miss Cardew. She has gone ballistic at this point, writing notes from Algernon to herself,
calling off the engagement for

History of Animal Testing Essay
Animal Testing is when people use animals in experiments, to test their reaction to what is being tested.
The range of animals used in testing is from tens of millions to more than a hundred million used annually.
There has been much debate about this topic, because, animals are the most reliable sources to use,
especially mice, because we share 95% of our genes with them, which makes them the most common
animals to use. Although, many people think animal testing is crude and inaccurate science, but the other
hand is, would we rather use humans?
Animal testing has been going on since 500BC, found in ancient Greek writing. People believed that
animals were lacking intelligence so it didn t matter to them. Although, Theophrastus disagreed, ... Show

Viv sectors are the scientists and doctors that perform animal testing. An average day at work for them is
poisoning, shocking, burning, and killing animals. Humans have found specific animals that they are
testing, and they have always been testing on these animals. Humans have always been testing on animals,
and they have never even thought of testing on humans. We have been using innocent animals for our own
products, which only use humans are going to be using, so why are we using animals? The only reason
why we are using animals is because we are too selfish to use ourselves. There have been many surveys
and research on what we humans think about this. Many people have mentioned that it isn t fair because
animals can t show or tell us their pain. Although, some people feel that it is completely necessarily to test
on animals because otherwise, we wouldn t have had all the medicine we have, and many more products
would have been unsafe to use.
During an interview between DoSomething.org and Nancy Beck Ph.D. and the science and policy adviser
at Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, the question asked was Why can t most animals be put
up for adoption after they re testing is finished? and Nancy Beck replied Animals are often killed as part of

most animals who get put into animal testing never come back out, they are ended up

The Failure Of The Reconstruction Era
In 1865 1877, Reconstruction was the federal governments pursuit to untangle the problems resulting after
the Civil War. in my opinion, the Reconstruction era was a failure despite the few accomplishments. It
failed simply because the Congress did not protect blacks from the Ku Klux Klan, the black codes limited
blacks from mostly everything, and the Compromise of 1877 removed troops causing blacks to suffer.
Although the Confederates had lost the war, they feared that life would be completely different from which
they were used to. The Ku Klux Klan was concerned about the racial implications of black freedom. This
organization served as quasi military forces serving the interests of those who desired the restoration of
white supremacy.(Shultz,

Scientific Murder:
Human Experimentation in Nazi Germany
The Nazi s were infamous for their cruel and unusual experiments on humans. Although they played a
small part of Nazi Germany s attempt at racial hygiene, these experiments desecrated and exterminated
thousands of humans (Lifton 269). quot; The Nazi medical experiments of the 1930 s and 1940 s are the
most famous example of recent disregard for ethical conduct quot; (Polit amp; Hungler 127). For the sake
of science, thousands lost their lives quot;I have no words. I thought we were human beings. We were
living creatures. How could they do things like that? quot; (Auschwitz survivor as quoted in Lifton 269).

Friedlander quotes Henrich Bunke saying, quot;It provided the opportunity to collaborate with experienced
professors, to do scientific work, and to complete my education. quot; as his excuse for joining T4 (127).
Autopsies were the greatest opportunity for these young physicians. As a result, human organs were
available for research (Friedlander 127).
With the beginning of this program, scientists made the decision to utilize the killing program to benefit

by pilots. Other examples of military experiments were inducing hypothermia, human toleration of
seawater ingestion, and immunization experiments against several diseases (Friedlander 132). Women

Essay On The Death Penalty
The death penalty plays a controversial role in modern society. Many arguments against the death penalty
are raised to question whether it is biased against race or violates the constitution. Reuben Greenberg, the
first black police chief involved in innovative criminology and author of the article Race, the Criminal
Justice System, and Community Oriented Policing, openly shares his opinion on how race does not affect
the death penalty. Reuben Greenberg also proves false accusations of the death penalty wrong. Jack
Greenberg, American attorney and author of Against the American System of Capital Punishment,
disagrees with Reuben Greenberg s statement, and claims that race does hold a high position within the
death penalty. Aside from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Along with this, Reuben Greenberg believes that you have to look past a person s skin color and judge
them on their crime, not their looks. Haag agrees with Reuben Greenberg s statement on how people
shouldn t judge someone just because of their race.
The subject of race can become very biased, and many people feel as if the justice system can be racist
towards minorities. In my opinion, race should not play a role in death penalty. Although there are still
many racist people in the world, crimes should be prosecuted based on the crime committed, regardless of
the person s race. Many white people are on death row currently for the same crimes a minority might
commit. In the world today, many controversial events have happened dealing with race along with the
justice system. For example, there have been multiple incidents where a white officer has been charged
with shooting a black person. It is thought that if a white judge is sentencing a minority, the odds of the
minority getting put on death row would be in favor. A judge must have an opinion when it comes to
sentencing a criminal, but it does not always have to be the race card . The severity of the crime should be
the real reason as to why a person would be put on death row, not their skin color. If a minority commits a
crime worthy of the death sentence, the judge has the right to sentence that upon him, regardless of looking
at his skin.

1.2 Diversified into Bottles, Lodging, and Mineral Water in Early 20th Century
After Frederick Mead died in August 1915, John Stroyan, who succeeded Sydney Chambers a few months
earlier, became the most important figure in SAB management. Stroyan faced a serious challenge the
following year when hostilities during World War I interrupted the supply of bottles to South Africa. SAB
decided to establish its own bottle making plants in 1917. Actual production, however, did not begin until
1919, the year the war ended.
Another economic depression beset South Africa after World War I, but steady growth in the demand for
beer reduced many of the detrimental effects of the depression. SAB was financially strong enough in
1921 to purchase the Grand Hotel in Cape Town, an important addition to the company s lodging business.
SAB gained an interest in the mineral water business in 1925, when it purchased a substantial interest in
the Schweppes Company.
The Great Depression of the early 1930s had little effect on the South African brewing industry; SAB
continued to expand its operations and improve its facilities. The company s biggest problems were
shortages of labor and capital. The Spanish Civil War and rising political tensions in

Outlaw Heroes Vs Official Heroes
The outlaw and official heroes are two very different types of heroes that have be represented in American
film. The outlaw hero is generally depicted as someone who works by themselves to reach the goal of
defeating an evil. The outlaw hero will do this by his own methods while not necessarily following any
written laws or codes. Because of this some people may interpret what he is doing to be immoral or wrong.
The official hero on the other hand usually functions within a group bound by written laws. This leads the
common folk to perceive him as much more heroic than the outlaw hero. These modern heroes are
important because they represent two major types of American hero stories and show how the type of hero
can have an impact on how the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While Ray s description of the heroes does show the distinct differences between the two, it fails to
recognize the similarity that allows these heroes to change to the other type. For instance, Aragorn from
Lord of the Rings began as an outlaw hero who was wandering through the wilderness by himself doing
what he saw right. When Aragorn met Frodo, he joined others in the fight to vanquish Sauron thus
becoming more of an official hero. As the story progresses and finally in Return of the King it is most
apparent that his character has developed into a much more civilized hero who operates within a group.
For example, Aragorn s speech to the army as they prepare to ride into battle shows just how much he has
changed from his wandering state as a loner. He had become a leader of a community driven by a set of
morals to defeat an evil power. This is one example of how an outlaw hero can change into an official

The Target Strategy Of Wal Mart
Undifferentiated Target Strategy:
Wal Mart has an undifferentiated approach that stresses its low costs. This universal message is delivered
through all of its communications. This makes it easy for the audience to know what to expect. Small
companies more often emphasize local involvement and a personalized experience. Message consistency
also enables better word of mouth development, as all customers see the same things.
Concentrated Target Strategy:
Providing the largest selection of hybrid vehicles in its make, carrying a reputation for reliable cars, and by
being one of the first car manufacturers to enter the hybrid market, Toyota was successful in grabbing a
large market share in the small segment. By capturing the largest market share for hybrid vehicles, Toyota
will not face as much difficulties when we enter the market of electric vehicles because its hybrid vehicles
have proved to be a leader in innovating new opportunities for drivers. Toyota is a great example of
concentrated marketing because it has successfully dominated a large share in the small segment of hybrid
vehicles.
Multi Segmented Target Strategy:
Disney mainly targets children and their families, it uses the multi segmented targeting strategy which is

What Is The Syntax In Night By Elie Wiesel
Night, by Elie Wiesel, is a memoir on his gruesome experiences in his time in Auschwitz. After the first
edition of the book, there was a section which he changed the language and syntax to possibly make his
text more powerful, and to spell check and revise any errors he had because at the time, he was only 20.
The change of the text was much more effective than the old version because the syntax made the section
stand out more and the diction was much better to make the section overall much more powerful to the
readers. The use of syntax was much more effective in the newer version than the old version because it
makes all the words seem independent and makes each word stand out in its own way. He made each

In the section, he used just silent sky in the newer version unlike the old version where he used silent blue
sky . The interpretation of blue in this setting makes it feel like a nice beautiful day in a concentration
camp and makes things feel more pleasant and relaxing which does not help support the fact that this is
Auschwitz. Colors should be dark gloomy colors such as a dark gray or a black or none at all which he
used in the newer version. The use of just silent sky not only makes it feel darker, but makes it feel abrupt
and more powerful so in this case, less is more. The use of dreams to ash is much more effective than the
original dreams to dust . Dust is just nothing, dust means gone completely and there is no turning back and
you re now just waiting to be gone. This is dark but there has to be some hope left, seeing that the Jews
always just held on and prayed. Ash on the other hand is also nothing but there is a little spark of hope, it is
still moving and it is still alive but so useless that no one cares and no one realizes it. Ash also just fits
because of the burning smell and feel that comes from the so called chimneys which await them. Diction
can definitely change how we think and how we imagine a scene and the newer version gives a darker and

As I Lay Dying And The Crucible Essay
In As I Lay Dying by William Faulkner and The Crucible by Arthur Miller, women are perceived in ways
that fit the time period they are written in. The Crucible deals with women being accused of witchcraft and
regarded as witches. In As I Lay Dying the few women in the story, are not highly regarded or of high
status. Both authors depict women in different ways, but with similar attitude towards women. Even
though The Crucible and As I Lay Dying were works from different time periods, the portrayal of women
in both works have similarities. Although women are regarded as low importance in As I Lay Dying,
women play a key role in in The Crucible. There is a contrast between how women are regarded in the two

We have all manner of licentious people in the village! (Miller 41). The possibility of witches being
present in the village, especially in his own home brings immense trouble. In Faulkner s novel, Addie s
dying wish is to be buried in Jefferson, requiring her family to go on a troublesome journey. This puts a
burden on her family, requiring them to put their lives on hold and complete her wish. With this continuing
idea, Anse finds it necessary to try to fulfill his dying wife s wish, I done my best I says. I tried to do as she
would wish it... (Faulkner 106). Throughout both works, everyone s lives are centered around the female
characters. Faulkner and Miller both use symbols and dialogue to reveal how they personally perceive
women and how they portray women through their works. In As I Lay Dying William Faulkner uses a
coffin to symbolize that Addie is dying, this shows that she is of little regard or usefulness to the
household. Faulkner s female characters have much fewer entries than the male characters, this results with
a more dominant male force where we see their views of the women. Faulkner himself appears to be
uncomfortable with women, and the idea of women playing a major role. Faulkner s discomfort with
women and disdain for weak men evolved under the lens of gender criticism into his examination of the
roles our culture asks us to play because of our biological sex. (Towner 100). In The Crucible, Arthur

Love And Love In Shakespeare s Sonnet 130
Shakespeare wrote many sonnets about love, largely in a traditional sense. However, his 130th sonnet
takes a different theme: a relationship that is found through true friendship and love despite physical
beauty standards. Shakespeare uses contrasting values, natural and divine imagery and contradictory
statements to show that love is much more than just physical attraction.
Sonnet #130 is filled with nature imagery: Shakespeare mentions the sun, coral, snow and roses, all things
that are largely deemed beautiful by society both then and now. In these images, he paints the idea of what
a beautiful woman should look like, how the woman he thinks of loving looks like she s from a fairy tale.
The nature images are described as being absent from the woman Shakespeare loves, rather than being
given an opposite, implying that the woman he loves is by no means someone he cannot love or look upon.
Though many interperet the mistress of this sonnet to be an ugly woman due to some other lines of the
poem, this absence of an opposite seems to suggest otherwise: she is not an ethereal beauty, simply a
normal, plain looking woman who the sonnet s speaker loves despite how she may look.
Shakespeare uses more imagery in this sonnet than just things found in nature. Though there are only two
instances of it, he also uses imagery of the divine. It occurs once in the last quatrain ( I grant I never saw a
goddess go ), and once in the poem s final couplet ( And yet, by heaven, I think my

The Concept Of Self Care
Concept analysis is a combination of seven steps that work together to clarify concepts in our nursing
practice (McEwen Wills, 2014). The term self care is a concept from Orem s self care deficit theory. The
purpose of this concept analysis is to clarify the concept and determine how it is used in the nursing
practice, particularly with rehabilitation patients. We will further explore this concept with literature
reviews, the possible uses of this concept, its attributes, model and alternative cases, antecedents and
consequences, and finally empirical referents. Aim of Analysis The aim of this concept analysis is to
clearly define the concept of self care in relation to rehabilitation patients. The characteristics of self care
will be further explored and explained, as well as its importance to nursing practice. By understanding the
concept better, nurses will be able to be more involved in the patient s care and increase the rate of their
recovery (Arman Hok, 2015). Literature Review According to Hashemi et al. (2013), promoting self care
with patients gives them more control over their lives leading to an improved quality of life. The article
emphasized the importance of empowering patients to perform activities independently. Orem s self care
model was used as a clinical guideline for the self care programs they developed for the patients. There
were three different care models they focused on depending on the patient s needs and conditions. If the

My Plan Of Attack At Virgin
Sometimes it feels like you have to be a sociopath in order to win or be promoted. I have to say that I
really did feel like I was constantly juggling the way I was perceived at all times and I still am. My biggest
tool was Laura. Laura was the one who took me under her wing and gave me advice on how to grow and
become the leader I needed to be in order to be a supervisor.
I began to ask all the leaders the same questions in different scenarios so it didn t seem weird that I asked
them all the same questions. The cool part of this was that I was able to collect all the various perspectives
on the same type of scenario and sort of compare notes. I figured out that the managers who are salary are

She asked me what my goals were and how I planned to accomplish them etc.....She then began to ask me
various questions about how I would feel about becoming a supervisor and what I thought the other
teammates would think. I believed that I answered all of the questions well.
A week later the job position was posted on in the teammate lounge. There were quite a few people
interested in the position. The talk began spreading throughout the hotel. So I did what any good candidate
would do and asked people questions. A lot of questions. This allowed me to really sort out who the real
contenders were and how I could be better. I realized the people who were very forward and loud about
wanting the position lost track of how they were being perceived by their superiors. Most of them didn t
even get selected for the first round of interviews. This means being confident yet reserved was a huge
factor they were looking for.
Two weeks later a huge hole was blown into my plan of attack. Emina my manager who seemed to be my
second closest ally called me as I was walking home one day. She said, Devric, I m going to tell you
something that only a few people know the moment . In my head, I was thinking the best and the worst.
Hurray, Devric we have decided to just give you the supervisor position or unfortunately Devric we are
going to have to let you go. My heart started pounding. Emina says, Devric, They fired Laura. My
thoughts were oh fuck my

The History of American Literature
The history of American Literature starts well before this land was even called America. It has been a great
evolution to come from tribal symbols and drawings to today s Stephen King and Danielle Steele.
Literature has gone through many phases and was impacted by great events and ideas in American history.
The earliest form of literature in what would one day be known as America were far from what modern
day people would consider Literature . The Natives who inhabited this land first had unwritten ways of
passing on experiences, beliefs, and stories. Natives relied heavily on the verbal telling of these stories to
younger generations. The same stories, fables, or belief structures were told repeatedly, each time identical

Mather s rewarding career included writings on science and medicine as well as theology and history. His
Sentiments on the Small Pox Inoculated (1721) was instrumental in introducing the smallpox vaccine to
New England. A new genre for American writers, the travel narrative, would become especially influential
late in the 1700s. Travel narratives include Travels Through the Interior Parts of North America (1778) by
Jonathan Carver and Travels Through North and South Carolina, Georgia, East and West Florida, the
Cherokee Country, etc (1791) by William Bartram . Travel stories often blended observations on nature
and landscape with tales of personal courage and achievement. The first American newspaper, the Boston
News Letter, was founded in 1704, and joined by the Boston Gazette in 1719. At a time when newspaper
journalism was concerned primarily with reporting political events, the New England Courant, started by
James Franklin in 1721, became the first newspaper to include literary entertainment. Franklin s younger
brother Benjamin Franklin published humorous social commentary in the Courant under the pen name of
Silence Dogwood . Magazines also appeared for the first time in the colonies during the mid 1700s. Before
1800 magazines were concerned primarily with measuring America s developing culture against the
British model. During the 1700s Boston and Philadelphia became centers of publishing in addition to
being political and commercial centers.

House Voices
I will start with my new house. It is down the street from where my grandma and great aunt live. The
house has two levels, the main floor and the basement. There are two bedrooms, the office, the bathroom,
the living room with a fireplace, dinning room, and the kitchen on the main level. The basement contains
the laundry room, the family room, a bathroom, and a large storage area. The house was for sale because
the old woman who lived in it before us had died in the summer heat while her air conditioner was broken.
Her neighbors found her in her house. It was later discovered that she had been dead for a few days. She
was lying on the floor, in the only hallway in the house, just beyond the bathroom door.

I started having fun with it, all over again. Then I lost interest in it. It found a new home in a box that was
placed in my closet, and forgotten. A year later, we moved into our new house. A few months after we
were fully moved in (though we still have boxes upon boxes of old stuff in the basement, which we do not
plan on unpacking for lack of shelf space).
I had started school at Topeka West High School, got settled in with everything, and on came the
homework. One night, while working on an essay for my Junior English class, I heard a faint, annoying,
sound. It sounded mechanical, but I could not make out what it was. The never ending, irritating noise,
similar to that of the neighbor s barking dog, continued long enough to let me walk around and attempt to
find it. I wandered into the storage room, where the noise continued to grow louder and louder. Finally, I
neared where the noise was the loudest, which was, of course, the old box.
I grabbed the box and brought it around the blanket wall into my room, so I could look inside of it at my
desk. Once I had opened it, I discovered that the noise was coming from my old Talk Boy Jr. I laughed
when I noticed that an old shoe box, filled with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Jurassic Park figures,
had shifted its position. The shoe box landed on the play button of the Talk Boy Jr., making it repeat an old
voice n static recording. I pulled the Talk Boy Jr. out of the box

Description Of A Website On A Webpage Essay
Archiving
When testing if a webpage is archived and how often is it archived one important factor is when is the
webpage created. If a webpage is created in 2000 we would assume it will be archived several times.
However, if the webpage is created yesterday we would assume it might not be archived or at least once.
So here we want to figure out the creation date of our collection and make sure we have a different variety
of creation years.
One method to determine when the URIs are created is to find out when was the domain name created.
This can be done using the Whois protocol [14]. However, using this method we only found 3533 creation
date out of 7976 Arabic seed URIs . The oldest creation date we found using this method in our collection
of Aranic seed URIs was 1996.
Another method is the carbon date tool, it searches for creation date in the indexed search engines,
archived in the public archives, and shared in the social media and save the oldest date found as the
creation date. We have to note that creation dates obtained are just an estimate [15].
Figure 3 shows the creation date and its frequency. It shows we have a large distribution of creation dates.
And the maximum creation date was in 2005 where almost 500 websites are created.
ARCHIVE
Online websites are crawled and are archived so they can be available for any special purpose [16].
We checked if Arabic URIs are archived using the memento web time map. We collected the datetime map

Legalizing Horse Slaughter
People are curious. Its our human nature. Have you ever been curious about the meat you eat? Where it
comes from, how it was killed, and is it safe to eat? In America we eat beef, pork, and poultry for the
average everyday consumption. What about other countries, or other parts of the world? What do they eat?
Your beloved pet, your furry companion, your best friend. Maybe your horse, perhaps. What is this horse
slaughter that people are speaking of? Should it be legal? Yes. It should be legal with limits. It is most
likely that anyone you ask about horse slaughter will have an opinion. Some strongly believe it is cruel,
and inhumane, some believe it is for a good cause, or helping the world. Others just don t know their facts,
or don t care either way. Horse slaughter is the practice of killing and butchering horses for human
consumption or animal foods manufacturing ( Jeras, 1).
A question often thought about is whether or not horse slaughter is humane. If you ask many people, they
will say no. Why isn t it humane?
Here is a couple of things to know. Usually the conditions are unsanitary, and infected with disease. The
horses could have injuries from minor to major from the ride to the slaughter house, or from entering the
slaughter house. The horses could even have had injuries or health issues before loading into the trailer to
begin with. It is definitely questionable as to whether anyone checks up on updated health check ups on the
horses purchased in kill

A Good Thing Is A Bad Thing By Philip K. Dick
Imagine a world where you can t even walk down a sidewalk without using technology. Author Philip K.
Dick, created a world with fantastic solutions for everyday problems; but too much of a good thing is a bad
thing. In the novel Ubik, author Philip K. Dick suggested that technology is slowly changing our thoughts
and morals to the point that humans can no longer function without it.
What exactly is a moral? According to Google, a moral is a person s standards of behavior or beliefs
concerning what is and what is not acceptable for them to do. In other words it s what a person believes is
the right thing to do; it s what is thought to be what makes you a trustworthy person.

Technology had been created to allow easy access to the drugs by putting them in vending machines.
Looking back on page 67 there s another drug/job connection, When I m at work I function better if I can
get an ergot based psychedelic drug; it causes me to actually see who I am up against and I find that it
helps. These people purposely did drugs to increase their chances of being hired.
Another moral based problem in Ubik are moratoriums. Once a person dies they are frozen and sent to a
moratorium; this is how they preserve their deceased loved ones. The man in charge of the Moratorium
Mr. Runciter visited talked about how great it was. His exact words are found on page 4, Burial is barbaric,
Herbert muttered aloud. Remnant of the primitive origins of our culture. They no longer view burial as
respectful, so they freeze the dead to preserve their thoughts and souls. Not only do they capture the spirit
of the person they keep them until they completely fade away; some stay for years others fade quickly. The
spirit remains on earth until they are released from storage by their visiting family. Once they fade they are
hauled off, Herbert says on page 5 Delivering another half lifer who had just now passed, or here to pick

Marilyn Monroe s case was never truly solved. Investigators scrambled to find a justification and came to
the conclusion that she committed suicide and let the public believe so. According to Baker, Baker,
McNeil. (2012) if Monroe truly did commit suicide by pill overdose, they would have had to have found
pill residue in her stomach when doctors did the autopsy. However, they did not find any residue of the
pills, ruling out her potential suicide by overdosing on drugs. If Marilyn Monroe did not commit suicide,
she was murdered by Robert Kennedy on behalf of his jealousy of her relationships with other men.
Another explanation for him murdering her was that he was scared that if the public found out about their
affairs, it would ruin his public figure. According to Baker, Baker, McNeil (2012) Witnesses claim to have
heard a disturbing tape, from the bugged Monroe home the night of her death, on which the voices of Peter
Lawford, and angry Bobby Kennedy and a screaming Monroe are audible (p. 52). This could very well be
true considering that Robert was in the Los Angeles area that day. History.com (2009) claims that On

Existence Of Ghost Research Paper
The Existence of Ghosts
In folklore, mythology, and modern media such as literary fiction, a ghost is the soul or spirit of a dead
person or animal that can appear, invisible form or other manifestation, to the living. (Wikipedia). The
existence of ghosts has always been an alerting and spooky, debatable motion that humans are curious of.
There have been countless amounts of evidence gathered by paranormal investigators or ghost hunters.
From videos of moving objects, recordings of voices from spirits through EVP, and even pictures of ghosts
themselves. All of which the world sees as undeniable or fraudulent evidence based on one s own self
belief. However, with numerous accounts of documentation from not only paranormal investigators, but
actual people from across the world, it s almost impossible to not believe that such phenomenon exist on
earth, and those who do not are just terrified to accept it.
To determining whether or not the existences of ghosts are true, there are many resources we use that can
gather massive information. To investigate if environmental fluctuations actually occur in haunted
locations, a television production company called Global Media Productions, Los Angeles, enlisted the
help of several technologies. The company used really specific thermometers to take temperature

D. Shibulal, happened without a hitch, the issue of corporate governance isn t addressed with the seriousness it deserves. While concerns about succession are as old as the human race, professional research on succession planning and management began in earnest in the 1950s (Zaich, 1986). The chief focus of that research was on CEO succession until the 1980 s (Kesner Sebora, 1994). At that time, due to the growing interest in human resource planning, still a topic of interest today (Rothwell and Kazanas, 2003) research began to take on a broader focus that encompassed more than CEO s. The National Academy of Public Administration (NAPA) defines succession management as a deliberate and systematic effort to project leadership requirements, identify a pool of high potential candidates, develop leadership competencies in those candidates through intentional learning experiences, and select leaders from among the pool of potential leaders. NEED FOR THE STUDY: The robust growth of the Indian economy can be attributed to the meteoritic success of Indian IT Industry . The Indian Software Industry has grown from a mere US $ 150 million in 1991 92 to US $ 5.7 billion in 19992000 to a staggering US $ 47.3 billion in 2008 2009. Poised to become a US$ 225 billion industry by 2020, the Indian information technology (IT) industry has played a key role in putting India on the global map. • 3. Methane Hydrates And Its Effects On The Environment Essay Methane hydrates, also known as Methane clathrates, are rapidly becoming a topic of interest to many looking for alternative energy sources that would ease our reliance on fossil fuels while scientists are working on innovative new ways to extract the energy with minimal damage to the climate. These natural gas deposits resting under ocean sediment appear very alluring to governments and other entities looking for more energy independence. Nations look at energy independence favorably as a way to stay geopolitically independent and perhaps gain an upper hand in trade with nations that still rely on imported energy. The total amount of carbon located in gas hydrates in the ocean exceeds the amount of all the oil, gas, and coal currently being refined in total (Nersesian 2007). • 4. Undocumented Immigrants Be Deported Essay Immigration has been a hot topic for not only President s Trump first 100 days in office, but also became a hot topic during the presidential campaign leading up to the election. There are a multitude of different debates that fall under the immigration category, but an issue that should be discussed in the national discourse by engaging citizens is the legalization and granting of citizenship to undocumented immigrants living in the United States. Even though it is heavily debated, undocumented immigrants should be granted the legal right to become U.S. citizens. A poll done by CNN in March states that 71% of people believe that the government should not attempt to deport all people current living in the country illegally (Kopan, 1) compared to only 27% that believe illegal immigrants should be deported by the same poll. This is key in the discussion being debated that undocumented immigrants should be legal citizens of the United States. There are a significant amount of undocumented immigrants who currently reside in the United States today. According to the Pew Research ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Undocumented immigrants have created lives here and become part of communities, and it is not right to take that away from them. Not only is it not inhumane, but also it would hurt the economy as well since granting citizenship to undocumented workers causing the economy to grow, not stunt its growth. Even though many believe that undocumented immigrants becoming citizens will harm citizen s jobs, this is also proven to be false because immigrants create jobs and fill the gaps of the jobs not done by natural born citizens. Undocumented immigrants also are proven to not commit as many crimes as the American counterpart, unlike many opponents views. By legalizing and allowing the citizenship of over 11 million people, our country can grow, not only financially in our economy, but grow as a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Triviality In The Importance Of Being Earnest In the years between 1837 1901, people had a completely new viewpoint separate from the previous era. During this frivolous era, people stressed respect, seriousness, and decency. Although one may think there is nothing wrong with these practices, he or she may not comprehend how intensely the individuals followed their new current traditions. Author Oscar Wilde thoroughly displays just how people during this time period acted in his play The Importance of Being Earnest. Wilde pokes fun at various elements of the Victorian society. To better understand how Wilde s play made fun of the Victorian society, one must look at the following elements: manners, triviality and immaturity Author Oscar Wilde wanted to stress how peculiar manners were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Wilde stresses. The play shows an immense amount of immaturity; for example, in the scene where Mr. Worthing is trying to propose Gwendolen. Gwendolen will not let Worthing get a word out until he proposes properly, Of course I will, darling. How long you have been about it! I am afraid you have had very little experience in how to purpose . (Wilde 11). With this being said, Gwendolen is showing a great sense of immaturity. Instead of letting Mr. Worthing propose in his own way, she will not accept anything until he gets down on one knee. In another instance of immaturity comes when Algernon takes it upon himself to pretend he is Mr. Worthing s brother. Algy fails to announce the fact to Jack. Algy takes this matter very immaturely as stated, Mr. Ernest Worthing has just driven over from the station. He has brought his luggage with him (Wilde 23). In addition to these selfless acts of immaturity, Wilde also exhibits immaturity when psychotic Miss. Cardew tells Algernon that they have already been married for three months. This scene comes about when Algy decides he wants to marry Miss Cardew. You silly boy! Of course. Why? We have been engaged for the last three months (Wilde 32). • 7. History of Animal Testing Essay Animal Testing is when people use animals in experiments, to test their reaction to what is being tested. The range of animals used in testing is from tens of millions to more than a hundred million used annually. There has been much debate about this topic, because, animals are the most reliable sources to use, especially mice, because we share 95% of our genes with them, which makes them the most common animals to use. Although, many people think animal testing is crude and inaccurate science, but the other hand is, would we rather use humans? Humans have found specific animals that they are testing, and they have always been testing on these animals. Humans have always been testing on animals, and they have never even thought of testing on humans. We have been using innocent animals for our own products, which only use humans are going to be using, so why are we using animals? The only reason why we are using animals is because we are too selfish to use ourselves. There have been many surveys and research on what we humans think about this. Many people have mentioned that it isn t fair because animals can t show or tell us their pain. Although, some people feel that it is completely necessarily to test on animals because otherwise, we wouldn t have had all the medicine we have, and many more products would have been unsafe to use. During an interview between DoSomething.org and Nancy Beck Ph.D. and the science and policy adviser at Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, the question asked was Why can t most animals be put up for adoption after they re testing is finished? and Nancy Beck replied Animals are often killed as part of the test, in order to determine whether there has been any toxicity to their internal organs . The Failure Of The Reconstruction Era In 1865 1877, Reconstruction was the federal governments pursuit to untangle the problems resulting after the Civil War. in my opinion, the Reconstruction era was a failure despite the few accomplishments. It failed simply because the Congress did not protect blacks from the Ku Klux Klan, the black codes limited blacks from mostly everything, and the Compromise of 1877 removed troops causing blacks to suffer. Although the Confederates had lost the war, they feared that life would be completely different from which they were used to. • 10. Essay On The Death Penalty The death penalty plays a controversial role in modern society. Many arguments against the death penalty are raised to question whether it is biased against race or violates the constitution. Reuben Greenberg, the first black police chief involved in innovative criminology and author of the article Race, the Criminal Justice System, and Community Oriented Policing, openly shares his opinion on how race does not affect the death penalty. Haag agrees with Reuben Greenberg s statement on how people shouldn t judge someone just because of their race. The subject of race can become very biased, and many people feel as if the justice system can be racist towards minorities. In my opinion, race should not play a role in death penalty. Although there are still many racist people in the world, crimes should be prosecuted based on the crime committed, regardless of the person s race. Many white people are on death row currently for the same crimes a minority might commit. In the world today, many controversial events have happened dealing with race along with the justice system. For example, there have been multiple incidents where a white officer has been charged with shooting a black person. It is thought that if a white judge is sentencing a minority, the odds of the minority getting put on death row would be in favor. A judge must have an opinion when it comes to sentencing a criminal, but it does not always have to be the race card . The severity of the crime should be the real reason as to why a person would be put on death row, not their skin color. If a minority commits a crime worthy of the death sentence, the judge has the right to sentence that upon him, regardless of looking at his skin. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. Outlaw Heroes Vs Official Heroes The outlaw and official heroes are two very different types of heroes that have be represented in American film. The outlaw hero is generally depicted as someone who works by themselves to reach the goal of defeating an evil. The outlaw hero will do this by his own methods while not necessarily following any written laws or codes. Because of this some people may interpret what he is doing to be immoral or wrong. The official hero on the other hand usually functions within a group bound by written laws. This leads the common folk to perceive him as much more heroic than the outlaw hero. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While Ray s description of the heroes does show the distinct differences between the two, it fails to recognize the similarity that allows these heroes to change to the other type. For instance, Aragorn from Lord of the Rings began as an outlaw hero who was wandering through the wilderness by himself doing what he saw right. When Aragorn met Frodo, he joined others in the fight to vanquish Sauron thus becoming more of an official hero. As the story progresses and finally in Return of the King it is most apparent that his character has developed into a much more civilized hero who operates within a group. For example, Aragorn s speech to the army as they prepare to ride into battle shows just how much he has changed from his wandering state as a loner. He had become a leader of a community driven by a set of morals to defeat an evil power. This is one example of how an outlaw hero can change into an official ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Colors should be dark gloomy colors such as a dark gray or a black or none at all which he used in the newer version. The Crucible deals with women being accused of witchcraft and regarded as witches. In As I Lay Dying the few women in the story, are not highly regarded or of high status. Both authors depict women in different ways, but with similar attitude towards women. Even though The Crucible and As I Lay Dying were works from different time periods, the portrayal of women in both works have similarities. Faulkner s female characters have much fewer entries than the male characters, this results with a more dominant male force where we see their views of the women. • 19. Love And Love In Shakespeare s Sonnet 130 Shakespeare wrote many sonnets about love, largely in a traditional sense. However, his 130th sonnet takes a different theme: a relationship that is found through true friendship and love despite physical beauty standards. Shakespeare uses contrasting values, natural and divine imagery and contradictory statements to show that love is much more than just physical attraction. Sonnet #130 is filled with nature imagery: Shakespeare mentions the sun, coral, snow and roses, all things that are largely deemed beautiful by society both then and now. In these images, he paints the idea of what a beautiful woman should look like, how the woman he thinks of loving looks like she s from a fairy tale. The nature images are described as being absent from the woman Shakespeare loves, rather than being given an opposite, implying that the woman he loves is by no means someone he cannot love or look upon. Though many interperet the mistress of this sonnet to be an ugly woman due to some other lines of the poem, this absence of an opposite seems to suggest otherwise: she is not an ethereal beauty, simply a normal, plain looking woman who the sonnet s speaker loves despite how she may look. Shakespeare uses more imagery in this sonnet than just things found in nature. Though there are only two instances of it, he also uses imagery of the divine. It occurs once in the last quatrain ( I grant I never saw a goddess go ), and once in the poem s final couplet ( And yet, by heaven, I think my ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The term self care is a concept from Orem s self care deficit theory. The purpose of this concept analysis is to clarify the concept and determine how it is used in the nursing practice, particularly with rehabilitation patients. We will further explore this concept with literature reviews, the possible uses of this concept, its attributes, model and alternative cases, antecedents and consequences, and finally empirical referents. Aim of Analysis The aim of this concept analysis is to clearly define the concept of self care in relation to rehabilitation patients. The characteristics of self care will be further explored and explained, as well as its importance to nursing practice. By understanding the concept better, nurses will be able to be more involved in the patient s care and increase the rate of their recovery (Arman Hok, 2015). Literature Review According to Hashemi et al. (2013), promoting self care with patients gives them more control over their lives leading to an improved quality of life. The article emphasized the importance of empowering patients to perform activities independently. • 31. A Good Thing Is A Bad Thing By Philip K. Dick Imagine a world where you can t even walk down a sidewalk without using technology. Author Philip K. Dick, created a world with fantastic solutions for everyday problems; but too much of a good thing is a bad thing. In the novel Ubik, author Philip K. Dick suggested that technology is slowly changing our thoughts and morals to the point that humans can no longer function without it. What exactly is a moral? According to Google, a moral is a person s standards of behavior or beliefs concerning what is and what is not acceptable for them to do. In other words it s what a person believes is the right thing to do; it s what is thought to be what makes you a trustworthy person. Technology had been created to allow easy access to the drugs by putting them in vending machines. Looking back on page 67 there s another drug/job connection, When I m at work I function better if I can get an ergot based psychedelic drug; it causes me to actually see who I am up against and I find that it helps. These people purposely did drugs to increase their chances of being hired. Another moral based problem in Ubik are moratoriums. Once a person dies they are frozen and sent to a moratorium; this is how they preserve their deceased loved ones. The man in charge of the Moratorium Mr. Runciter visited talked about how great it was. His exact words are found on page 4, Burial is barbaric, Herbert muttered aloud. Remnant of the primitive origins of our culture. They no longer view burial as respectful, so they freeze the dead to preserve their thoughts and souls. Not only do they capture the spirit of the person they keep them until they completely fade away; some stay for years others fade quickly. The spirit remains on earth until they are released from storage by their visiting family. Once they fade they are hauled off, Herbert says on page 5 Delivering another half lifer who had just now passed, or here to pick up one which had expired. after he sees people in uniforms get out of a truck. Motivation Of Confidential Sources Cultivating confidential sources is an integral part of police work and today, more than ever in our history, prevents us from going dark despite encrypted technologies. In February 2009, I successfully completed the Federal Bureau of Investigation s Undercover Certification Course. In doing so, I became only the second New Jersey State Trooper to ever complete the course. I learned a variety of lessons, but was especially intrigued to hear those about confidential sources. I learned to treat sources with respect. I also learned that a source having a criminal record, does not stop them from being human. Most importantly, I learned that while performing in an undercover capacity with a source, that the confidential source is your life line. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Marilyn Monroe s case was never truly solved. Investigators scrambled to find a justification and came to the conclusion that she committed suicide and let the public believe so. According to Baker, Baker, McNeil. (2012) if Monroe truly did commit suicide by pill overdose, they would have had to have found pill residue in her stomach when doctors did the autopsy. However, they did not find any residue of the pills, ruling out her potential suicide by overdosing on drugs. If Marilyn Monroe did not commit suicide, she was murdered by Robert Kennedy on behalf of his jealousy of her relationships with other men. Another explanation for him murdering her was that he was scared that if the public found out about their affairs, it would ruin his public figure. According to Baker, Baker, McNeil (2012) Witnesses claim to have heard a disturbing tape, from the bugged Monroe home the night of her death, on which the voices of Peter Lawford, and angry Bobby Kennedy and a screaming Monroe are audible (p. 52).
