Uss Biddle History
The USS Biddle (CG 34 or DLG 34) was a Belknap class guided missile cruiser of the US Navy from
1967 to 1993. The name USS Biddle comes from the 18th Century Caption Nicholas Biddle of the
Continental Navy. Also, the USS Biddle s last days were in 1963. The ship was from Norfolk,
Virginia. The Action in Vietnam that the Biddle was involved in was during the time of January 1968,
the Biddle was sent in to the combat zone off the coast of Vietnam. The ship traveled in Vietnamese
waters all the way from March to July. The USS Biddle performed the PIRAZ duty (Positive
Identification Radar Advisory Zone) it served as a Sea air rescue vessel. After the Action in Vietnam
the Biddle returned back home to Norfolk in September. The Biddle often went to the West Indies for
missile exercises in November 1968 and April 1969. After missile exercises ... Show more content on

In 1977 the Biddle did and even completed more exercises alongside worships of other NATO nations
in Norfolk, the West Indies, and also the Mediterranean Sea. The USS Biddle (DD 151) served in the
US Navy. It served in the navy for about two and a half decades in the early 20th centuries. The ship
received a battle star for the service with the Convoy UGS 37 during World War II. The Biddle was
laid down in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania by William Cramp and Sons Ship and Engine Building
Company in April 1918. The ship didn t stay down long, it launched back in October and
commissioned in April 1919 with commander CT. In 1983 the Biddle began in a leave and upkeep
statues that lasted until the 16th of January, and for the rest of January and February. Then the ship
prepared for INSURV for inspection and passed. The Biddle departed Newport, Rhode Island on the
first of November 1901. Which was to go to Port Royal, South Carolina. Where the Biddle went into

Astronomy Of The Islamic World
Astronomy in Medieval Islam Astronomy is the branch of science that deals with celestial objects,
space, and the universe as a whole. During the medieval era, a golden age of innovations in science
took part in the Islamic world. In particular cities in the Iberian Peninsula, like Cordoba, astronomy
blossomed and thrived as an aftermath of the genius and creativity that took place there. Innovations
in astronomy were vital in inspiring the other scientific discoveries, and were greatly encouraged by
the religious groups during the time. In the Oxford Encyclopedia of the Islamic World, S. Nomanul
Haq and Massimo Campanini wrote that astronomy is the only natural science that escaped the
censure of the medieval Muslim opponents of secular sciences (ʿulūm al awāʿil) and found a home in
mosques, receiving the blessing of mainstream religious circles. 1 Because of this support and
encouragement, scientists of astronomy were set up to thrive and innovate. Discoveries during this
period made fundamental advancements on Greek and Mesopotamian astronomy and were crucial for
the later advances of Copernicus and Kepler that give the view on astronomy that is held today. The
support of astronomy that garnered during the medieval era had many influences. One influence was
religion. Marking time accurately is essential for many religions including Islam, Judaism, and
Christianity. The Koran requires the faithful to pray five times a day at five very precise times: at the

John William Waterhouse
John William Waterhouse was born on the 6th of April, 1849 in Rome, Italy and died in London from
cancer on the 10th of February, 1917. Waterhouse s mother and father were painters and throughout
his life they referred to their son as Nino , for Giovannino ( Little John ), he was the eldest of three; a
younger brother Edwin and a sister named Jessie. When Nino was eight he experienced the death of
his mother and it was shortly afterwards that his father remarried. Between 1861 and 1870 his father
and new step mother birthed four children, which was a drastic life change for Nino and his two
younger biological siblings. In 1861 Nino had to leave school and his sister Jessie went to live with an
aunt. Luckily it wasn t too long before his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What we do know for sure is that a main focus in Nino s life from this point on was painting, and he
preferred working with oils and watercolor. Although Waterhouse never left London, the city was not
prevalent in his work. The female human figure was the subject in most of his paintings and his work
portrayed Pre Raphaelite themes in an academic modification of impressionism (Trippi, pg.4).
Waterhouse painted in more of a modern manner, he was part of the third generation of Pre Raphaelite
painters and his signature style was much more painterly and naturalistic than the first two
generations. In 1872 some of his first paintings appeared at the Society of British Artists, one of which
is titled Undine. This painting measure s only ten inches high and is a great example of the charming
subjects that introduced his developing artistic individuality. Undine is a heroine water fairy who
married a knight to acquire a soul; however, she was rejected and forced back into nature, when she
later arose from a fountain dressed as a bride she was in anguish, knowing that her fate required her to
deliver a kiss of death to her former lover. In this painting, Undine is a symbol of erotic death with her
half exposed breast. This paradoxical conjoining of desire and destruction figured centrally in the
golden age of fairy art and literature during which Waterhouse was brought up

Food And The City Summary
With a growing world population of over seven billion, the high producing agriculture industry is
becoming detrimental to the environment by most commonly effecting the freshwater needs, soil
quality, air pollution, energy consumption, the loss of habitat, and the health of the consumers.
However, there is a solution to this problem that goes beyond just the nutritional facts: urban farming
and mass organic food production. Food and the City by Jennifer Cockrall King and Lentil
Underground: Renegade Farmers and the Future of Food in America by Liz Carlisle explores the
challenges and solutions to organic food production in the major cities and the midwest United States.
One solution to the unsustainable industrial agriculture system, urban ... Show more content on

The author describes a global food revolution that began years ago from New York and Paris to
London and Toronto. Consumers are becoming aware of the food they are purchasing at their local
grocery store and realizing the grocery store is just a facade. Many small time organic farms started
disappearing because of the mass producing large scale industrial farms which became possible after
the industrial revolution. Large scale industrial farms are producing food in large quantities with low
quality while polluting the earth and harming consumers because they are focused on one thing: profit.
It makes it difficult for grocery stores to say no to these industrial farms just because of how cheap
and convenient their product is. It also allows the grocery stores to supply produce year round that
normally would not be in season in a specific area. The sustainable factors and health of the
consumers and the planet were of no concern when it came to higher produce yields and lower costs
for both the conventional industrial farms and grocery stores. In 1996, industrial farms introduced
genetically modified crops to increase yields and make more profit. Since then, more than 70% of
foods produced contain genetically altered ingredients which has led to consumers being more prone
to illnesses like cancer, diabetes, and obesity. This idea from Food and the City makes me furious
because there are so many processed foods today that are hard to get away from. Mass industrial farms
and manufacturers have found ways to extend food s shelf life and alter the basic ingredients that
would normally be considered healthy. With all of the additives, who knows what the food actually is
and the harm it could do to your

Yasukuni Shrine Research Paper
Yasukuni Shrine: The truth free of Chinese and Western Bias. Have you actually wondered what
Yasukuni Shrine is really about? Do you wonder if the biased Chinese and American views on
Yasukuni actually defy it? Well look no further! The Yasukuni Shrine s purpose is to honor those who
died in Japan s Wars, not to start conflict. Countries like China, and South Korea criticize Japanese
Politician s Visits to Yasukuni because they fell victim to Japan s Aggressive Military Expansion. The
Chinese Criticize Yasukuni because they have no knowledge on the truth of the shrine and only think
it s for war. So those Chinese Communist imbeciles can go back and cry to their pathetic Father Karl
Marx, because Mao Zedong killed more people than ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Charles Lindbergh also visited Yasukuni. More people from different countries visited, people from
the United States, France and Germany. With Japan s expansion into Asia, the invading Japanese did
so and so considered war crimes. With WWII happening in 1939, Japan was planning to expand its
territorial reach, into the US. They would attack Pearl Harbor and capture Hawaii, being easily able to
invade the mainland US. In December 1941, Operation Tora Tora Tora! had begun, with the Japanese
bombing Pearl Harbor. A few days after the attack, the US declared war on Japan. With Japan s defeat
in 1945, the war crimes trials had begun. Japanese High Ranks were arrested and charged with war
crimes and crimes against humanity. In 1945, the pitiful American General Headquarters planned to
burn down Yasukuni Shrine and replace it with a dog race course, but was stopped. In 1978, 14 so

Rapidride Case Study Solution
There are two source of data I found online as follows.
Firstly, the budget to initiate RapidRide service is $215 million (2010 2011 figures). Of this total, $50
million is for corridor and roadway improvements, $28 million for passenger facilities, and $7 million
for the real time information signs. The majority of the budget is the $128 million for new vehicles.
The limited $50 million for corridor and roadway improvements does not include other potential
upgrades to the corridors such as improving pedestrian and bicycle access within the quarter to half
mile service areas around stations and stops. (ULI Seattle 2011)
Investment types $(million) corridor and roadway improvements 50 passenger facilities 28 real time
information signs 7 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It shows that RapidRide ridership makes up almost ten percent of the overall system ridership while
being 21 percent cheaper to operate per rider.
For the E and F line starting from 2014, the budget is relatively lower than the beginning. Comparing
the two lines, the extra cost of new buses on the E Line is offset through lower
roadway/communication/TSP costs and passenger facilities. This is likely because SDOT and
Shoreline have already done most of the work to prepare signals for TSP along the corridor by
upgrading signal controllers and cabinets, which is necessary for various component of the RapidRide
ITS system to operate. (Parast 2017) E LINE F LINE
Roadways/Communication/ $5.97M (16%) $9.93M (28%)
Transit Signal Priority (TSP)
Passenger Facilities $5.1M (14%) $7.64M (22%)
(Shelters, lighting, etc.)
Real Time Information Signs $790,000 (2%) $800,000 (2%)
New Buses $24.9M (68%) $16.8M (47%)
Total $36.74 $35.12M
However, the investment in improvement is a huge amount. For example, King County Metro
RapidRide C and D and Madison Street Capital Improvements. This project would design and
implement transit priority improvements along King County Metro s RapidRide C and D lines that
provide service to Ballard and West Seattle as an early deliverable to provide improved speed and
reliability, in advance of light rail starting operations to these areas. The project also includes a

Essay on Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion
Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion Ocean thermal energy conversion (OTEC) utilizes the natural
temperature difference in tropical regions to generate electricity. The idea of using the ocean to
generate electricity was proposed by a French physicist by the name of Jacques Arsene d Arsonval in
1881. Georges Cluade who was one of d Arsonval students, built the first OTEC power plant in Cuba.
Cluade also built a second power plant in 1935 on a 10,000 ton cargo ship which was moored off the
coast of Brazil. Unfortunate events with weather and waves caused both facilities to be destroyed
before either could be net generators. The United States became interested in OTEC technology in
1974 and built the Natural Energy Laboratory of Hawaii Authority ... Show more content on

The steam then boils the low point boiling fluid, which drives the turbine to produce electricity. The
hybrid combined the vacuum portion of the open cycle system and uses the low point boiling fluid like
the closed cycle system. Unfortunately, there is no mass energy production for the Ocean Thermal
Energy Conversion but there has been a successful attempt in 1979, when Lockheed Martin
successfully built and operated over a three month period a net power mini OTEC system which
generated 50 kilowatts of net power off the Big Island of Hawaii. But the United States is not the only
country who is invested into OTEC systems, Japan has currently a closed system OTEC plant that has
generated 31.5 kilowatts of power during tests. The positives of the OTEC system is monumental.
Even if one tenth of one percent of the solar energy trapped by the oceans could be converted into
electricity, It would generate twenty times the amount of electricity the United States use everyday. It
could easily supply all the energy we wanted, said Terry Penney, a lab program manager at the
National Renewable Energy Laboratory in Golden, Colo. The process is very low efficiency, just 2 or
3 or 4 percent, but all that energy s free. (qtd. in charles. The Energy Debates: Ocean Thermal Energy
Conversion. LiveScience. TechMedia Network, 12 Dec. 2008. Web. 03 Feb. 2014.) Unlike Solar and
Wind alternative energy, OTEC can work during the day and night, which means that OTEC can

The Three Patriarchs In The Book Of Genesis
Many readers of Genesis might think God s relationships with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob to be the
most significant in the entire book. These three patriarchs are, in fact, very important because they
accept and preserve the covenant and pass it on to their future generations. However, Joseph makes his
relationship with God more unique and current by living out the covenant with other human beings
and not solely with God. When readers only focus on the other patriarchs relationships as the most
important interactions, they fail to recognize Joseph transferring the covenant from a God to human
relationship, to a relationship between humans. This essay will show how Genesis portrays Joseph as a
patriarch who acts out God s will for humans. Joseph s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In chapter 27 of Genesis, Jacob fools Isaac and takes Esau s blessing. This act of deception by Jacob is
done for selfish gain. He does not trust God s plan for him. God does not instantly correct Jacob,
however, in chapter 32 God battles with Jacob to restore his faith, And he saw that he had not won out
against him and he touched his hip socket and Jacob s hip socket was wrenched as he wrestled him .
Here Jacob is converted by God because he did not have faith in God s plan for him. He is also being
affected because of his dishonesty. Jacob s relationship with God can be viewed as a struggle from the
wrestling match moreover, Jacob s new name is Israel, which means one who struggles with God .
Joseph on the other hand does not quarrel with God because his relationship with God is reliable and
hopeful. When Joseph finally reveals his true identity he explains that he followed God s plan, And,
now do not be pained and do not be incensed with yourselves that you sold me down here, because for
sustenance God has sent me before you...And God has sent me before you to make you a remnant on
earth and to preserve life, for you to be a great surviving group . As he addresses his brothers, Joseph
tells them not to be angry because he was hopeful of God s intentions. Joseph is different from Jacob
and the other patriarchs because he does not aggravate God

Erin Sullivan Narrative
One morning, Erin Sullivan awoke in the early hours of the morning like she did every other day. But
today was different than the others, because on this particular day her life would be changed forever.
As Erin stretched underneath her thick blankets under the gentle wind of the fan above her bed, she
felt different. She felt taller, bigger in a sense. Her room still dark, the thin curtains struggling to hold
the light at bay, Erin reached for a light switch, although she wasn t prepared for what would happen
next. Erin screeched as the light encompassed the room around her, yelped was more like it. As she
shifted her gaze to her hand, she no longer saw her tanned skin, she saw thickly coated black hair. Her
fingers morphed together into a paw, her nails grown sharp and menacing over night, curled into
claws. Erin ripped off the blankets, exposing her new body to her eyes for the first time. Black hair,
long tail, and four legs, Erin was horrified by what she saw. What is happening to me? she wondered
aloud. Drawing her body into herself she curled up into a ball on her bed, tearing the sheets with her

She attempted to get off her bed, but quickly stumbled, unsure how to walk on four legs. However, she

she couldn t let her parents see her like this, she would have to get out of the house before her parents
awoke. Silently, Erin crept out of her room on all fours, careful to skip the third step because she knew
it squeaked with pressure. Erin thought she was in the clear, until her dog spotted her and woke up.
Barking incessantly, Erin s dog, Maggie, ran towards her at full speed. But as a panther, Erin was
faster, she dashed out of the house with Maggie right on her tail, slamming the door behind her to

How Did Imperialism Affect The Congo
The Congo was a place that was very rich in economic resources, mineral wealth and natural
resources, but with all that aside, it was still considered the heart of darkness. The Congo was
primarily known for the economic exploitation of natural resources and labor, the main attraction of
the Congo included ivory, rubber and rich minerals. The main issue would be the fact that the leader of
colonization, King Leopold II had no sense of set control over the overran African chunk, which
caused brutal abuse over the Congolese population. He had no form of organized government or any
law restrictions that would protect the natives in the congo or their ancestral lands and forced these
natives to become slave workers. The Congo would become ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The economy was completely brought down, then left that way in turmoil. Even now there is struggle
in the economy due to leaders not knowing how to organize and help their people even though they
are in serious need of direction. Since King Leopold II had taken over every aspect of the colony
during the 19th century, Leopold kept the system flowing with every resources and trade yet he did
not share any of his knowledge with the original tribes that resided, after his departure many of the
few settlers that remained no longer knew how to repair what was so far gone. A land that was once
rich in resources is now amongst the worst in poverty. There is a huge lack in food for the population
that resides there. In current date, The Congo barely has little, to no access to clean water.(SOS
Children) You may even see different associations trying to donate to this area in Africa due to so
many families being left with nothing to survive, so many families in fact are malnourished. There is
almost no help at all going into today s Congo even though it is not the tribes fault that there is no
resources left for their people. Aside from Leopold leaving the land in complete drought of all
resources, he also left behind many life threatening diseases that spread during the massacre of
enslaving the original settlers. The Congo during Leopold s time was stripped of any benefits that
could have been used in the long run. In today s Congo, there is not health care available to those that
reside there and that alone should tell how much lack of government there is. Today the people of the
land are still fighting for the rights that were taken from them a century ago. Today the president
Kabila remains in power, that is in violation of the constitution. Kabila has and continues to change
laws that leave him holding all power in the country. Almost as if he is Leopold, Kabila has acted

Characteristics Of Ancient Civilizations
Were ancient cultures actually considered civilizations? Four of the most important ancient
civilizations were Mesopotamia, ancient Egypt, ancient India, and ancient China. In order to be
considered a civilization a culture must have seven different characteristics. These seven
characteristics of a civilization are writing system, social classes, organized government, public works,
arts and architecture, job specialization, and complex religions.
Mesopotamia was a region in the fertile crescent that was located within the Tigris Euphrates river
system. In modern day geography it is roughly located in Iraq, the eastern parts of Syria, and
Southeastern Turkey. First, mesopotamia used a writing system known as cuneiform. This writing
system ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, the king could create a law and the assembly could overturn it. To our knowledge the
Sumerians did not write down their laws. When the king passed a new law everyone was expected to
learn and obey it. Fourth, ancient Mesopotamia people did build public works. Mesopotamia s public
works consisted of dikes, dams, city walls, warehouses, canals and ziggurats. Canals were one of the
most important public works because they were built to bring water to the cropping fields. Fifth, arts
and architecture definitely existed in Mesopotamia. For example, the Hanging Gardens, one of the
seven wonders of the ancient world, is located in Mesopotamia. The people of Mesopotamia also built
ziggurats and made elaborate designs on their pottery. Sixth, job specialization was very important in
Mesopotamia since not one person could master all the skills. Some of the many jobs in Mesopotamia
are farmers, weavers, potters, scribes, astronomers, and musicians. Scribes were very important since
they were the only people the knew how to write. Finally, Mesopotamia did have a complex religion.
They had a polytheistic belief which means that the people of Mesopotamia believed in many gods.
They also believed that the gods were associated with and controlled various forces of nature.
Whenever a bad thing happened, such as a flood, the Mesopotamians believed that they were getting
punished. Overall, it can be concluded that mesopotamia was a civilization.

Magneto rheological fluid to control of Vibrations and Acoustics
*Sourabh Joshi1, **Piyush Nandwal2
1. Acropolis Technical Campus, Indore (M.P.)
In the case of semi active suspensions with sequential damping, the damping forces are zero or rather
very small as long as the sprung mass is moving away from its static equilibrium position and
suddenly increases when the system is returning to the static equilibrium position. The basic idea of
this semi active control strategy is to balance the elastic force by the damping force in order to reduce
or even to cancel the forces transmitted through the suspension as long as the spring and elastic forces

Semi active control systems combine the best features of the passive and active ones. They have
almost the same environmental robustness, mechanical simplicity and low cost as passive devices and
can offer the adaptability of active control systems without requiring the associated large power
sources.
In this paper the effect of semi active suspension with Magneto rheological fluid to control the
damping characteristic of the system and balanced logic on which the system works is presented. The
damping characteristics are controlled by modulation of fluid flow orifices, dry friction forces, electric
or magnetic field applied to electro rheological or magneto rheological fluid dampers. The balance
logic is assumed to be achieved with a variable dry friction damper controlled by the modulation of
the normal force applied on the friction plates. For the models with semi active dual rate dampers, the
value of the equivalent suspension damping coefficient is a function of the relative velocity of the
sprung mass with respect to the wheel subsystem.
Key Words: Transmissibility factor, Magneto rheological fluid, Sequential damping

16. Which is the worst of the tree men? Which is the least harmful?
Even though the speaker points the man of moderation as the most pernicious enemy, his name (an
irony according to the speaker s first sentence in paragraph #5) indicates neutrality, and neutrality
means not bad but not good. In my opinion the Roarer is the most dangerous, because he is very
confident about what he thinks and says, even though his statements are just a result of his ideals and
beliefs and not facts. He analyzes the situation and then makes an assumption. And the least harmful
would be the man of moderation for the facts mentioned above.

William Faulkner s The Golden Compass
The Golden Compass is a fantasy book of a series, called His Dark Materials. This is a book for
adolescents and teenagers. Some of the material would be hard for a younger minor to understand.
Adolescents and teens would find it more captivating as they can relate to experiences and thoughts of
the main character. Adults could be interested in this story with the fantasy twist, but would not really
understand as a younger audience would. I very much enjoyed reading it. The characters were
concrete. The fantasy of it was dazzling, at times scary, but still alluring. Yet, at times, it was hard to
follow. The book had shown me more that people are not always what they seem and to trust your
instincts. In the story, we are mainly from the perspective of an adolescent child named Lyra who
grew up in a college, known as Jordan. In this fiction, there are witches; polar bears that are called ice
bears, but the ice bears are like humans; Gobblers that kidnap kids; and every human being have a

Analysis Of Kay Redfield Jamison s An Unquiet Mind
The prologue of An Unquiet Mind by Kay Redfield Jamison opens with Kay running and is with a
colleague. She explains that as a child she had multiple mood changes and how she is trying to turn
her illness into a beautiful thing. In chapter 1, Kay is playing in the playground when a military jet
crashes into a row of trees. Her father shows signs of manic depression. Kay moves to California with
her family where she feels that she has been taken away to a different world. By the age of 17, she has
her first manic episode. In chapter 2 of Part 1, Kay attends UCLA. During one of her manic episodes,
she has an urge to buy Idylls of the King and buys a dozen books that are all related to it. Kay decides
to buy a horse instead of going to a psychiatrist ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jamison attends a medical conference and a presentation is made about the discovery of watery
deposits in the brain tissue of manic depressives, which interests her. Jamison begins to ponder her
previous qualms about discussing her illness. She focus on the issues concerning her own
embarrassment, cruelty from her colleagues and friends, and protecting her own family members.
Jamison is grateful for a more balanced life. She is aware of the danger that the slightest mania may
turn into wild insanity that can lead to death. She feels herself a survivor. In the end, Kay poses the
hypothetical question whether or not she would choose to have manic depressive illness, if given the
choice. If lithium was not readily available to her she would say no, but if it was available she said
yes. In Part 4, the explanation of her feelings towards the term bipolar disorder changed my outlook
on the illness.. I understand her qualms about the term implying that there is a distinction between
depression and manic depressive illness. From now on I will refer to the term bipolar disorder as
manic depressive illness. The discovery of watery patches in manic depressives brain tissue was very
interesting. It was rational for Kay to be afraid to share her illness with the world, since it could
change the way people see her. Also, there are endless traumatic possibilities and it is scary to think
that so many disorders go unnoticed. The passages in the memoir flooded me with all kinds of
emotions. It was also interesting to read that she would not give up this illness after all the agony it

The Concept of Woman in Roger Malvin’s Burial Essay
The Concept of Woman in Roger Malvin s Burial
John Erskine in Leading American Novelists says that Roger Malvin s Burial is the most powerful
story, morally, of the Mosses from an Old Manse (236). And what makes it so powerful? A very vital
woman character by the name of Dorcas is key to the narrative producing decision by Reuben to leave
Roger to die alone. Dorcas is also key to the guilt preserved within the main character, Reuben, which
leads to his growing into an irritable personality. Likewise she is key to the strong familial bond of
love which is broken asunder by Reuben s accidental killing of Cyrus, thus effecting a spiritual
transformation or redemption of the protagonist.

. . . (McPherson 68 69). McPherson s inward sphere is the key to understanding the role of women in
Nathaniel Hawthorne s tale, Roger Malvin s Burial.
The short story opens with an explicit, lengthy reference to an historical battle between savage Indians
and colonial frontiersmen: One of the few incidents of Indian warfare naturally susceptible of the
moonlight of romance was that expedition undertaken for the defense of the frontiers in the year 1725.
. . . From the historical perspective the narrative shifts to two survivors of the battle who, wounded
and exhausted, are making a trek homeward. The severe wound of the elder man, Roger Malvin,
causes him to think that his pilgrimage was at an end, so he asks his younger companion, Reuben, to
go on without him, saying that ``this rock beneath which we sit will serve for an old hunter s
gravestone. Reuben protests, but Roger is insistent: I will no longer burden you with my useless body.
Reuben offers to dig two graves so that we will rest together, but Roger appeals to his concern for his
girlfriend, who is Roger s daughter, Dorcas: Tarry not, then, for a folly like this, but hasten away, if
not for your own sake, for hers who will else be desolate. What was the effect upon Reuben of the

Pre Discovery Introduction As a disorder that is predicted to affect 9.5% of the US adult population in
any given year, Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) is a mental illness that can last for long periods of
time if left untreated (National Institute of Mental Health, n.d.). The symptoms associated with MDD
vary from person to person, but the most common include a depressed mood, lack of energy, feelings
of hopelessness, pessimism, irritability or guilt, fatigue, lack of interest in hobbies and activities that

Christian Disciplines Of The Spiritual Realm
Introduction
The classic Disciplines of the spiritual life call us to move beyond surface living into the depths. They
invite us to explore the inner caverns of the spiritual realm. They urge us to be the answer to a hollow
world. There are many different but important Christian disciplines. Some that as Christian we all
practice on a regular basses while other which people are specifically called to undertake during their
walk. As Christians we may never fully participate in every discipline throughout our walk. The
discipline of fasting is one which has been around before Jesus, Old Testament saints fasted at times of
mourning and national repentance. They fasted when they needed strength or mercy or persevere and
when they wanted a word from God (see 1 Samuel 7:6, Nehemiah 1:4, Esther 4:16). For over 2
thousand years, Fasting has been an important part of our Christian walk, to help us draw closer to
God and to rely and trust Him more.
Summaries your original understanding of the discipline before the course started.
As a young Christian, my knowledge about the Christian disciplines was very limited. I had a very
limited knowledge on fasting. I believed that is was just something Christians did, as God called them
to do, not that there was such a deep meaning to the discipline of fasting. I understood that it was what
Jesus did a number of times.

The Gospel Of Luke Figurative Language
The Gospel of Luke is one of the four gospels as part of the new testament. Luke s Gospel is
dependent on other earlier writings, especially the Gospel according to Mark. The purpose of the
Gospel is to communicate the life of God and promote the universal significance of Jesus Christ s
story. Luke makes an effort to make his readings relatable to readers from different religious, ethnic,
and social backgrounds. The reason Luke makes an effort to create an easily relatable story is to create
a point of identity and entry into the story of Jesus Christ. In telling this story, Luke demonstrates an
ability to write in different literary styles. The language is formal and refined in a fashion familiar to
the language of well educated citizens during the first century of the Roman Empire. As situations
shift in the story, the language used varies appropriately to suit the locale and characters in the
narrative. Luke s appreciation of stylistic variation in narrative communication is apparent, and helps
build a convincing viewpoint. One ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He presented him as the firstborn of a new race. Second, he presented him as the older brother in a

someone who holds similar characteristics to his audience and is therefore more to his audience.
However, Luke maintains Jesus divine nature by indicating that Jesus was not just like other humans
who descended from Adam as he was not only the son of Adam, but the son of God. Luke presented
him as a real man. Even though he is perfect, Jesus is someone with whom we feel a natural kinship,
because we share humanity together. Denying a physical connection between Mary and Jesus would
imply that Jesus was not truly human, suggesting to his followers that he is truly different and

Literary Theme Of Self Identity Essay
In Harper Lee s To Kill a Mockingbird, Lee writes, before I can live with other folks I ve got to live
with myself. The one thing that doesn t abide by majority rule is a person s conscience (Lee, 108). As
displayed in To Kill a Mockingbird and many others, the literary theme of self identity coupled with
coming of age has been a long running one in the history of literature. Certainly, we find this theme in
novels such as Between Tides and Shadows of Your Black Memory, respectively. The development of
character and self identity is vital in the analysis of each protagonist. Between Tides follows Pierre
Landu, a black Catholic Priest and revolutionist, on a journey to right his wrongs through rigorous self
examination. Pierre, having rejected his African ancestry during adolescence, in attempts to integrate
into the Catholic Priesthood finds himself dissatisfied with the priesthood during his adult years. In
attempts to reconnect to his cultural roots he joins a revolutionist movement to deconstruct
colonialism in his African nation. Through growth and the tumultuous discovery of self, Pierre
recognizes that there is no easy resolution in rediscovering himself or Africa. Similarly, Shadows of
Your Black Memory, is largely about a young boy s journey into adulthood. Shadows is retold through
the memory of the adult version of the young boy. Unlike Pierre, the Narrator, who is never a given a
name is strikingly aware of the cultural and social parallels in which his

Roman Emperor Trajan Research Paper
Trajan is considered by many historians as one of the greatest Roman emperors. He conquered Parthia

One example of public buildings built by Trajan was Trajan s Forum. Trajan s Forum was designed by
the architect Apollodorus of Damascus. Trajan s Forum contains a four story, open air shopping mall,

Forum was a huge architectural achievement because slaves and workers cut two hemicycles into the
Capitoline and Quirinal hills. In the holes, warehouses and shops were built, and many streets were
formed (Hammond). Another example of Trajan building public buildings is Trajan s Column. Trajan s
Column is an 126 feet tall Column that depicts the invasion and conquering of Dacia. There are
thousands of figures telling the story of the Dacian War. The figures are fighting, sailing, building, and
negotiating in all of the intricate scenes (Curry). In 117, when Trajan died, his ashes were transported
to Rome and he was buried under the column (Hammond). Another example of Trajan building public
buildings is Trajan s Market. Trajan s Market is a four story, open air shopping mall built between 107

apartment building. The market was situated behind Trajan s Forum and had many functions, mostly
commercial. The bottom three levels housed many shops. The shops sold fruits, vegetables, fish, wine,

unnecessary over explanation . (Caldwell) Caldwell believes that the narrator s existence in the movie
does not have to be justified instead it has to appear very natural.
As far as the setting is concerned, there are four significant settings in the novel: the East and the West
Eggs , the Valley of ashes and New York each of which has a pivotal role in the understanding of the
characters and the events in the novel due to their symbolic meaning. In the beginning of the novel
Fitzgerald presents the East Egg with its seductive, alluring, enticing and tempting appearance yet it is
pregnant with false and unattractive realities. This is obvious in the relationship between Tom and
Daisy. It is full of desperation , hypocrisy and hopelessness. Tom as a character is arrogant and
dishonest. He advances racist arguments and carries on public affairs whereas for Daisy she is a
shallow character who wishes her daughter to be a fool because she believes that one maintains a rich
and pleasant life when he/she lives as a beautiful fool . (Fitzgerald) The east Egg is occupied with the
Buchanan that has an aristocratic origin. On the other hand, the west Egg is associated with the newly
rich (Fitzgerald) and their flashy manners that lacks aristocratic origin. The west Egg is also
represented by Gatsby and his parties. Gatsby is seen as an enigma as he blends the East Egg and the
West Egg in his parties. The valley of ashes represents a picture of desolation, devastation and poverty.

Pope Gregory’s America
In 1591, Pope Gregory XIV fell ill with a gall stone to which his physicians prescribed pulverized
gold and gemstones. As one might assume, he soon died of complications regarding his gall stone;
however, because his medicine was literally money, the Papal coffers were depleted and Pope Gregory
was interred in an non descript stone coffin in the Vatican. According to one Papal historian, he was
surrounded by stupid physicians or culpable ministers (de Montor 218). In the United States, we ve

This combination of models results in a disorganized system that increases costs and fails to maintain
human health. By looking at international examples, one can find numerous areas in which the
American system (or systems) fails in comparison to universal systems. Across our northern border we
find a neighbor with universal health care as well as better access to care. Seven percent of Americans
and less than 1% of Canadians were prevented from care because of financial reasons. U.S. residents
are a third less likely to have a regular physician, a fourth more likely to not meet medical needs, and
twice as likely to forgo needed medicine. Across the board, uninsured Americans have less access to
care as well as less satisfaction regarding their care (Himmelstein, Lasser, and Woolhandler 1303). In
comparison to our northern neighbor, who has similar culture and values, we can see a universal
health care system would drastically improve our access to care. Even if a comparison isn t enough,
one can see the impacts of universal health care in Taiwan, where a National Health Insurance model
was recently implemented. Over the implementation of the system, hospital admission rates increased
from 110 admissions per 1,000 people in 1994 to 120 admission in 1996 (Lu and Hsiao 80 81).

A Core Element Of The Film Western
A core element of the film western is the struggle between the civilizing forces of society and the
resistance of the wilderness. This has been used as a common thematic element in the narrative
structure of Westerns, and can be seen in the films portrayal of society s expansion to the west. In
these films, this expansion, which is a part of the movement to tame the Wild West, is a conflict that is
played out as a battle of oppositions on the American frontier. In director John Ford s My Darling
Clementine, this fundamental aspect of the genre comes across in the main character, Wyatt Earp s,
conflict with the Clanton family, whom the audience ultimately finds out are the ones who shot and
killed the youngest Earp brother. While Wyatt Earp s status as the town marshal symbolizes the
civility and order of society, the Clantons a violent, uncivilized family in which the father uses
primitive methods of discipline, such as whipping, against his own four sons represent the wilderness
of the untamed West. The symbolic importance of the characters in My Darling Clementine is also
connected to Ford s use of setting and locale. Given the manner in which Wyatt Earp enters the town
and sets about bringing justice to it, his character can be seen as the embodiment of the process of
civilization of the West. From a cinematographic standpoint, the shots of locations within the town
differ from those of the wilderness beyond the town site. The film makes use of its visual style to

Why Vaccination Should Be Mandatory

Why Vaccines Should be Required to Attend School
Ever since the invention of the first smallpox vaccine more than two centuries ago, there has been
plenty of controversy over the morality, ethics, effectiveness, and safety of vaccination and
immunization. It has recently been argued whether laws should be introduced that render some or all
vaccines obligatory for all children (Singer). Parents, health care specialists, nurses, teachers and
children all have an important stake in this issue. Parents argue that it is they who should have the
ultimate decision making right on whether or not to vaccinate their children. Nurses and health care
officials oppose that view on the grounds that by making vaccination rates in children incomplete, we
expose all children to contracting the vaccine preventable diseases. If this is a risk some parents are
willing to take, but others face unwillingly, there is obviously a propitious platform for debate. It is in
fact irresponsible and a violation of good citizen when parents oppose vaccinating their children. It is
important to unify certain rules related to vaccination and not make it the prerogative of a particular
public or private school to decide whether or not to accept an unvaccinated child. It would only be
right to end all debate by passing a binding country wide law to make certain vaccines (against

A group of us Arts and Music students used the day on Wednesday to go into the city to visit the

Picasso s painting entitled Standing Figure depicts a nude woman with her arms crossed behind her
head. It was painted in 1908 during a key period of invention and experimentation, as Picasso began to
construct his paintings in a new way. The figure is translated into simplified, geometric forms,
reflecting Picasso s interest in the art of Africa and Oceania. Using only a few colors, he focuses the
viewer s attention on the intersection of these geometric forms. It seems as though Picasso uses the
blue lines in this painting like some sort of directional device, drawing attention to the outline of the
woman s figure. As we discussed in class, the style of cubism uses multiple or contrasting vantage
points. Another element of cubism is simplifying more complicated scenes into geometric forms.
Cubism rejected the inherited concept that art should copy nature, or that they should adopt the
traditional techniques of perspective, modeling, and foreshortening. They wanted instead to emphasize
the two dimensionality of the canvas. Turner s Fall of the Rhine at Schaffhausen , painted between
1805 and 1806, creates a sense of panic for the viewer. The water has an overwhelming presence in
this piece. Compared to the force of nature in the waterfall, the people and animals are dwarfed. One
woman is depicted rushing to try and save her child. Turner captured the force of the waterfall

The role of photography in the fight for social justice It always takes a single moment, a single instant,

Jesus dying on the cross to save our sins. Hamilton states in her book, when Aslan is executed, the
next day the table is broken and he resurrected, C.S. Lewis used this in his story to relate with Jesus s
resurrection and the hope it brings people of a new life(Hamilton,2011). When they fight the Witch the

supreme owner of land and the state had a considerable fund of the lands belonging only to the state

holds the ultimate authority. If there was no form of federal government, each individual state would

simply means that the national and state governments have control over unique spheres of policy.
Others believe it to be a shared or cooperative federalism in which means that both the governments
work together in all areas of the policy, or supply their services to the citizens. The balance of power
between the states and the federal government of the United States constantly shifts back and forth

  • 3. Astronomy Of The Islamic World Astronomy in Medieval Islam Astronomy is the branch of science that deals with celestial objects, space, and the universe as a whole. During the medieval era, a golden age of innovations in science took part in the Islamic world. In particular cities in the Iberian Peninsula, like Cordoba, astronomy blossomed and thrived as an aftermath of the genius and creativity that took place there. Innovations in astronomy were vital in inspiring the other scientific discoveries, and were greatly encouraged by the religious groups during the time. In the Oxford Encyclopedia of the Islamic World, S. Nomanul Haq and Massimo Campanini wrote that astronomy is the only natural science that escaped the censure of the medieval Muslim opponents of secular sciences (ʿulūm al awāʿil) and found a home in mosques, receiving the blessing of mainstream religious circles. 1 Because of this support and encouragement, scientists of astronomy were set up to thrive and innovate. Discoveries during this period made fundamental advancements on Greek and Mesopotamian astronomy and were crucial for the later advances of Copernicus and Kepler that give the view on astronomy that is held today. • 4. John William Waterhouse John William Waterhouse was born on the 6th of April, 1849 in Rome, Italy and died in London from cancer on the 10th of February, 1917. Waterhouse s mother and father were painters and throughout his life they referred to their son as Nino , for Giovannino ( Little John ), he was the eldest of three; a younger brother Edwin and a sister named Jessie. When Nino was eight he experienced the death of his mother and it was shortly afterwards that his father remarried. Between 1861 and 1870 his father and new step mother birthed four children, which was a drastic life change for Nino and his two younger biological siblings. What we do know for sure is that a main focus in Nino s life from this point on was painting, and he preferred working with oils and watercolor. Although Waterhouse never left London, the city was not prevalent in his work. The female human figure was the subject in most of his paintings and his work portrayed Pre Raphaelite themes in an academic modification of impressionism (Trippi, pg.4). Waterhouse painted in more of a modern manner, he was part of the third generation of Pre Raphaelite painters and his signature style was much more painterly and naturalistic than the first two generations. In 1872 some of his first paintings appeared at the Society of British Artists, one of which is titled Undine. This painting measure s only ten inches high and is a great example of the charming subjects that introduced his developing artistic individuality. Undine is a heroine water fairy who married a knight to acquire a soul; however, she was rejected and forced back into nature, when she later arose from a fountain dressed as a bride she was in anguish, knowing that her fate required her to deliver a kiss of death to her former lover. In this painting, Undine is a symbol of erotic death with her half exposed breast. This paradoxical conjoining of desire and destruction figured centrally in the golden age of fairy art and literature during which Waterhouse was brought up ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Food And The City Summary With a growing world population of over seven billion, the high producing agriculture industry is becoming detrimental to the environment by most commonly effecting the freshwater needs, soil quality, air pollution, energy consumption, the loss of habitat, and the health of the consumers. However, there is a solution to this problem that goes beyond just the nutritional facts: urban farming and mass organic food production. One solution to the unsustainable industrial agriculture system, urban ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The author describes a global food revolution that began years ago from New York and Paris to London and Toronto. Consumers are becoming aware of the food they are purchasing at their local grocery store and realizing the grocery store is just a facade. Many small time organic farms started disappearing because of the mass producing large scale industrial farms which became possible after the industrial revolution. Large scale industrial farms are producing food in large quantities with low quality while polluting the earth and harming consumers because they are focused on one thing: profit. It makes it difficult for grocery stores to say no to these industrial farms just because of how cheap and convenient their product is. It also allows the grocery stores to supply produce year round that normally would not be in season in a specific area. The sustainable factors and health of the consumers and the planet were of no concern when it came to higher produce yields and lower costs for both the conventional industrial farms and grocery stores. In 1996, industrial farms introduced genetically modified crops to increase yields and make more profit. Since then, more than 70% of foods produced contain genetically altered ingredients which has led to consumers being more prone to illnesses like cancer, diabetes, and obesity. This idea from Food and the City makes me furious because there are so many processed foods today that are hard to get away from. Mass industrial farms and manufacturers have found ways to extend food s shelf life and alter the basic ingredients that would normally be considered healthy. For the E and F line starting from 2014, the budget is relatively lower than the beginning. Comparing the two lines, the extra cost of new buses on the E Line is offset through lower roadway/communication/TSP costs and passenger facilities. This is likely because SDOT and Shoreline have already done most of the work to prepare signals for TSP along the corridor by upgrading signal controllers and cabinets, which is necessary for various component of the RapidRide ITS system to operate. Essay on Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion Ocean thermal energy conversion (OTEC) utilizes the natural temperature difference in tropical regions to generate electricity. The idea of using the ocean to generate electricity was proposed by a French physicist by the name of Jacques Arsene d Arsonval in 1881. Georges Cluade who was one of d Arsonval students, built the first OTEC power plant in Cuba. Cluade also built a second power plant in 1935 on a 10,000 ton cargo ship which was moored off the coast of Brazil. Unfortunate events with weather and waves caused both facilities to be destroyed before either could be net generators. The steam then boils the low point boiling fluid, which drives the turbine to produce electricity. Unfortunately, there is no mass energy production for the Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion but there has been a successful attempt in 1979, when Lockheed Martin successfully built and operated over a three month period a net power mini OTEC system which generated 50 kilowatts of net power off the Big Island of Hawaii. But the United States is not the only country who is invested into OTEC systems, Japan has currently a closed system OTEC plant that has generated 31.5 kilowatts of power during tests. The positives of the OTEC system is monumental. Even if one tenth of one percent of the solar energy trapped by the oceans could be converted into electricity, It would generate twenty times the amount of electricity the United States use everyday. It could easily supply all the energy we wanted, said Terry Penney, a lab program manager at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory in Golden, Colo. Canals were one of the most important public works because they were built to bring water to the cropping fields. Fifth, arts and architecture definitely existed in Mesopotamia. For example, the Hanging Gardens, one of the seven wonders of the ancient world, is located in Mesopotamia. The people of Mesopotamia also built ziggurats and made elaborate designs on their pottery. Sixth, job specialization was very important in Mesopotamia since not one person could master all the skills. Some of the many jobs in Mesopotamia are farmers, weavers, potters, scribes, astronomers, and musicians. Scribes were very important since they were the only people the knew how to write. Finally, Mesopotamia did have a complex religion. They had a polytheistic belief which means that the people of Mesopotamia believed in many gods. The damping characteristics are controlled by modulation of fluid flow orifices, dry friction forces, electric or magnetic field applied to electro rheological or magneto rheological fluid dampers. The balance logic is assumed to be achieved with a variable dry friction damper controlled by the modulation of the normal force applied on the friction plates. They invite us to explore the inner caverns of the spiritual realm. They urge us to be the answer to a hollow world. There are many different but important Christian disciplines. Some that as Christian we all practice on a regular basses while other which people are specifically called to undertake during their walk. As Christians we may never fully participate in every discipline throughout our walk. The discipline of fasting is one which has been around before Jesus, Old Testament saints fasted at times of mourning and national repentance. They fasted when they needed strength or mercy or persevere and when they wanted a word from God (see 1 Samuel 7:6, Nehemiah 1:4, Esther 4:16). For over 2 thousand years, Fasting has been an important part of our Christian walk, to help us draw closer to God and to rely and trust Him more. • 23. The Gospel Of Luke Figurative Language The Gospel of Luke is one of the four gospels as part of the new testament. Luke s Gospel is dependent on other earlier writings, especially the Gospel according to Mark. The purpose of the Gospel is to communicate the life of God and promote the universal significance of Jesus Christ s story. Luke makes an effort to make his readings relatable to readers from different religious, ethnic, and social backgrounds. The reason Luke makes an effort to create an easily relatable story is to create a point of identity and entry into the story of Jesus Christ. In telling this story, Luke demonstrates an ability to write in different literary styles. The language is formal and refined in a fashion familiar to the language of well educated citizens during the first century of the Roman Empire. As situations shift in the story, the language used varies appropriately to suit the locale and characters in the narrative. Luke s appreciation of stylistic variation in narrative communication is apparent, and helps build a convincing viewpoint. One ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 24. Literary Theme Of Self Identity Essay In Harper Lee s To Kill a Mockingbird, Lee writes, before I can live with other folks I ve got to live with myself. The one thing that doesn t abide by majority rule is a person s conscience (Lee, 108). As displayed in To Kill a Mockingbird and many others, the literary theme of self identity coupled with coming of age has been a long running one in the history of literature. Certainly, we find this theme in novels such as Between Tides and Shadows of Your Black Memory, respectively. The development of character and self identity is vital in the analysis of each protagonist. Between Tides follows Pierre Landu, a black Catholic Priest and revolutionist, on a journey to right his wrongs through rigorous self examination. Pierre, having rejected his African ancestry during adolescence, in attempts to integrate into the Catholic Priesthood finds himself dissatisfied with the priesthood during his adult years. In attempts to reconnect to his cultural roots he joins a revolutionist movement to deconstruct colonialism in his African nation. Through growth and the tumultuous discovery of self, Pierre recognizes that there is no easy resolution in rediscovering himself or Africa. Similarly, Shadows of Your Black Memory, is largely about a young boy s journey into adulthood. Shadows is retold through the memory of the adult version of the young boy. (Caldwell) Caldwell believes that the narrator s existence in the movie does not have to be justified instead it has to appear very natural. As far as the setting is concerned, there are four significant settings in the novel: the East and the West Eggs , the Valley of ashes and New York each of which has a pivotal role in the understanding of the characters and the events in the novel due to their symbolic meaning. In the beginning of the novel Fitzgerald presents the East Egg with its seductive, alluring, enticing and tempting appearance yet it is pregnant with false and unattractive realities. This is obvious in the relationship between Tom and Daisy. It is full of desperation , hypocrisy and hopelessness. Tom as a character is arrogant and dishonest. He advances racist arguments and carries on public affairs whereas for Daisy she is a shallow character who wishes her daughter to be a fool because she believes that one maintains a rich and pleasant life when he/she lives as a beautiful fool . (Fitzgerald) The east Egg is occupied with the Buchanan that has an aristocratic origin. On the other hand, the west Egg is associated with the newly rich (Fitzgerald) and their flashy manners that lacks aristocratic origin. The west Egg is also represented by Gatsby and his parties. This combination of models results in a disorganized system that increases costs and fails to maintain human health. By looking at international examples, one can find numerous areas in which the American system (or systems) fails in comparison to universal systems. Across our northern border we find a neighbor with universal health care as well as better access to care. Seven percent of Americans and less than 1% of Canadians were prevented from care because of financial reasons. U.S. residents are a third less likely to have a regular physician, a fourth more likely to not meet medical needs, and twice as likely to forgo needed medicine. Across the board, uninsured Americans have less access to care as well as less satisfaction regarding their care (Himmelstein, Lasser, and Woolhandler 1303). In comparison to our northern neighbor, who has similar culture and values, we can see a universal health care system would drastically improve our access to care. • 30. A Core Element Of The Film Western A core element of the film western is the struggle between the civilizing forces of society and the resistance of the wilderness. This has been used as a common thematic element in the narrative structure of Westerns, and can be seen in the films portrayal of society s expansion to the west. In these films, this expansion, which is a part of the movement to tame the Wild West, is a conflict that is played out as a battle of oppositions on the American frontier. In director John Ford s My Darling Clementine, this fundamental aspect of the genre comes across in the main character, Wyatt Earp s, conflict with the Clanton family, whom the audience ultimately finds out are the ones who shot and killed the youngest Earp brother. While Wyatt Earp s status as the town marshal symbolizes the civility and order of society, the Clantons a violent, uncivilized family in which the father uses primitive methods of discipline, such as whipping, against his own four sons represent the wilderness of the untamed West. The symbolic importance of the characters in My Darling Clementine is also connected to Ford s use of setting and locale. Given the manner in which Wyatt Earp enters the town and sets about bringing justice to it, his character can be seen as the embodiment of the process of civilization of the West. From a cinematographic standpoint, the shots of locations within the town differ from those of the wilderness beyond the town site. The film makes use of its visual style to ... Why Vaccination Should Be Mandatory Why Vaccines Should be Required to Attend School Nundi Hall Travis GND 1015: First Year Seminar November 21, 2015 Why Vaccines Should be Required to Attend School Ever since the invention of the first smallpox vaccine more than two centuries ago, there has been plenty of controversy over the morality, ethics, effectiveness, and safety of vaccination and immunization. It has recently been argued whether laws should be introduced that render some or all vaccines obligatory for all children (Singer). Parents, health care specialists, nurses, teachers and children all have an important stake in this issue. Parents argue that it is they who should have the ultimate decision making right on whether or not to vaccinate their children. Nurses and health care officials oppose that view on the grounds that by making vaccination rates in children incomplete, we expose all children to contracting the vaccine preventable diseases. If this is a risk some parents are willing to take, but others face unwillingly, there is obviously a propitious platform for debate. It is in fact irresponsible and a violation of good citizen when parents oppose vaccinating their children. It is important to unify certain rules related to vaccination and not make it the prerogative of a particular public or private school to decide whether or not to accept an unvaccinated child. It would only be right to end all debate by passing a binding country wide law to make certain vaccines (against ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Picasso s painting entitled Standing Figure depicts a nude woman with her arms crossed behind her head. It was painted in 1908 during a key period of invention and experimentation, as Picasso began to construct his paintings in a new way. The figure is translated into simplified, geometric forms, reflecting Picasso s interest in the art of Africa and Oceania. Using only a few colors, he focuses the viewer s attention on the intersection of these geometric forms. It seems as though Picasso uses the blue lines in this painting like some sort of directional device, drawing attention to the outline of the woman s figure. As we discussed in class, the style of cubism uses multiple or contrasting vantage points. Another element of cubism is simplifying more complicated scenes into geometric forms. Cubism rejected the inherited concept that art should copy nature, or that they should adopt the traditional techniques of perspective, modeling, and foreshortening. They wanted instead to emphasize the two dimensionality of the canvas. Turner s Fall of the Rhine at Schaffhausen , painted between 1805 and 1806, creates a sense of panic for the viewer. It helps in balancing the power between the national and subunit governments. Various forms of the government are being observed internationally, including the confederation and unitary government. The Confederal government was the very first form of government the United States had that is held under the Articles of Confederation; in which the states hold the authority over a limited national government. The most common form of government throughout the world is the unitary government in which the national and centralized government holds the ultimate authority. If there was no form of federal government, each individual state would face problems that may affect multiple states. This would lead a central government to come up with a mutual solution that would be beneficial to all the states across the nation or to the ones that need it most. Some scholars believe that the American government is a system of the dual federalism. This simply means that the national and state governments have control over unique spheres of policy. Others believe it to be a shared or cooperative federalism in which means that both the governments work together in all areas of the policy, or supply their services to the citizens.
