The Ethical Dilemma Of A Family Nurse Practitioner
As a family nurse practitioner (FNP), we have the responsibility to provide the best care we can
with the patient s best interest at heart. On a daily basis we deal with the needs and wants of our
patients, this alone provides an ethical dilemma. What we think is best and what our patients
want could in fact create an ethical dilemma, however, when we have an ethical dilemma, it is
our responsibility to get to a decision with caring, respect, an open mind and honesty to our
patients (Parker, 2007). In making a decision regarding an ethical dilemma it is our
responsibility to use a framework model to guide us in making an informed decision that is best
for our patients. It may not always be the most popular decision but if it is in our patient s best
interest, then you are practicing as a good and prudent, NP. Ethical Dilemma: When is it
appropriate to prescribe antibiotic therapy? The ethical dilemma is this; a new FNP is working
in a primary care practice. She is seeing patients and her friend Kate comes in with a cold. The
FNP believes it is viral. Kate is insisting on getting a prescription for an antibiotic. The FNP does
not feel that prescribing an antibiotic is warranted based on her findings as well as Kate s signs
and symptoms. The FNP faces the dilemma of what happens if she gives in to Kate and prescribes
an antibiotic versus not prescribing an antibiotic due to it not being necessary. We as practicing
providers have an ethical responsibility to our patients at

The Study Of Popular Culture
The study of popular culture is useful in many ways. To specify, this course has reached its three
intended main ideas: what it means to be an American, how to be consumption conscious, and how
to apply these studies in our own lives. Jim Cullen puts this in a less specific sense, arguing that the
study of popularculturecan afford valuable clues about collective fears, hopes, and debates (Cullen,
The Art of Democracy, 2). We study these clues to understand the world around us, as well as why
we do what we do as Americans and as humans. I will be touching on themes that relate to this
quotation by Cullen, escapism, exploitation, and globalization, and how these themes relate to the
course goals.

These illustrated novels gained popularity during World War II. Comic book writers would
incorporate real world concerns into their work, proposing ideas of how a post World War
America should function. For example, in one story, Superman crushes a plot by wealthy
American financiers working for a foreign power to manipulate the stock exchange and plunge
the nation into another depression (Comic Book Nation, 12). In this case, the writers are
appealing to a worried nation that jumps into a story where superheroes put greedy corporations
to rest, and the nation is stable. Escapism also manifested itself in the Beatlemania craze. In a
highly sexualized society ... teen and preteen girls were expected to be not only good and pure
but to be the enforcers of purity within their teen society ... To abandon control to scream, faint,
dash about in mobs was, in form if not in conscious intent, to protest the sexual repressiveness, the
rigid double standard of female teen culture. It was the first and most dramatic uprising of women
s sexual revolution (Beatlemania, 85). Young girls are seeking an escape from a critical society
that expects them to be pure and perfect, when in reality, that is too much of a standard for a
teenager to uphold. Some psychologists at the time of the craze even believed that girls

Axis Cameras Case
A.For this new product, each station represents about a 24 hour time window for cycle time. This
is aligned with takt as customers are given the expectation that orders take 2 weeks on average to
be installed. Customers are willing to wait the two weeks to ensure the install goes smooth. This
way, the security of their business is not compromised. Expedites can be taken on a case to case
basis, but none have been requested to this point.

these installs will require 2 technicians rather than 1 for quality as well as employee safety.
Materials needed specifically for the smart office product will be the indoor and/or outdoor camera

without affecting the business s aesthetic look (minimal cost under $0.10 per unit). Indoor
camera will be purchased at $360/unit, while the outdoor ready units are $385. RG11 is bought
at roughly $0.25/foot. Technicians make variable wages based on experience, time with
company, etc., but the average wage is about $23/hour + benefits. With a five hour install, this
means our technicians cost $115 per install/each (plus costs of elected benefits). Average cost for
an install, using 2 cameras and 30 feet of RG11 for learning purposes, will cost about $982 to
Comcast. Customers are charged an install fee of $199 for the initial camera, and $99 for any
additional. This eliminates almost $300 of the $982 upfront cost for Comcast. The average contract

Radiation has always been in everyday life even before...
Radiation has always been in everyday life even before Roentgen discovered x ray. The
mountains give off natural radiation, other forms of radiation are coal burning power plants, x
rays from a TV, and an airplane ride. The average dose from background radiation is about 360
mrem every year. There are two types of radiation, nonionizing and ionizing radiation. Examples of
nonionizing radiation are microwaves and radio waves broadcasting. Ionizing radiation refers to
gamma and x rays. Ionizing radiation means that the rays are able to remove an electron from
the atom then ions can be formed. The ions can cause damage when reacting with other atoms.

If a pediatric patient receives a lot of radiation then their cells could be mutated and reproduce
causing more mutated cells. Pediatric patients in the 1940 s with respiratory problems would be
diagnosed with their thymus gland being enlarged. The thymus reacts to infection by enlarging.
Infants would soon have an enlarged thymus following birth and physicians would give the
infants doses of x radiation to reduce the size. Because the thyroid is by the thymus, it would also
receive a dose. After 20 years, most of those people exposed would develop thyroid carcinomas.
(Statkiewicz Sherer, 1983)
X ray was first discovered on November 8, 1895 by accident. Wilhelm Roentgen was conducting
some laboratory experiments with cathode rays. A piece of cardboard, covered with fluorescent
minerals, began to glow when the cathode was on. Roentgen immediately began to further his
research with this accidental discovery. The first x ray was of Anna s hand (Wilhelm s wife).
Anna later died of sarcoma, which would later be discovered was from the radiation she had
received. Many years later Wilhelm died in 1923 of carcinoma of the intestine. (Famous Scientist,
2013)

The Legacy Of President Jefferson
Youngblood 1 In 1803, an important decision was made that would dramatically change a
country forever. This metamorphic compromise had been made by America s third president,
Thomas Jefferson. He purchased the bountiful and beautiful land of Louisiana from France.
Jefferson wanted to expand America, and adding more land seemed like the perfect solution.
Indeed, if it had not been for President Jefferson, one may be living in an entirely different type
of culture. President Thomas Jefferson needed men to explore the new land. An expedition
would need to take place, and would call for men who could survive hardship in the unknown.
These men of endurance in hardship were Meriwether Lewis, William Clark, and the Corps of
Discovery Company. The purpose of this valiant mission was established when President Thomas
Jefferson told the men, ...to explore the Missouri river, and such principal streams of it, as, by its
course and communication with the waters of the Pacific Ocean, whether the Columbia, Oregon,
Colorado or any other river, may offer the most direct and practicable water communication
across this continent for the purposes of commerce... (United States. National Park Service. The

Abstract
Wireless sensor networks (WSN) are self governing sensors that are widely distributed in the
respective environment. They are also referred as wireless sensor and actuator networks (WSAN).
They are used to observe physical or environmental conditions, for example, temperature, sound,
natural activities etc. They collect data from each active node and pass it to the network to the
centralized location. There are many flaws occurred in wireless sensor network like user
authentication as well as data travel in the network is not so much secure. We are developing a
technique in which firstly we are allowing the user to pass the hard security authentication scheme
and then the user can join the network. Further we are also providing a secure file transmission in
network via public and private key concept. In this way we maintain the secure and authenticated
transmission of data in predescribed environment.

Essay about Native Sovereignty
July 11th 1990, marked the beginning date of the Oka Crisis in Quebec Canada. It lasted until
September 26th 1990 resulting in one fatality of a local police officer. The violent clash was
triggered by something as simple as a golf course extension and as complicated as native burial
traditions. It had drawn world attention, catapulting native land rights into the mix. The Oka Crisis
is just one of many conflicts between the Aboriginals and the Canadian government. A major issue
that has been of much debate in the 20th century has been Native sovereignty. The demand sounds
simple, allow Aboriginals of Canadato govern themselves; however, coexisting with the Canadian
government makes this idea extremely complicated. Roger Townshend states... Show more content

Townshend describes how Aboriginals view the Canadian government as a foreign government.
Furthermore, Townshend disputes the process of assimilation, integrating Aboriginals to the
modern Canadian society. The solution is to create a third tier government that would work in
cohesion with the Federal and Provincial levels. Different levels of government and the ...sharing of
jurisdictional powers between government institutions is already part of the essence of the
Canadian state, (Townshend 39). If Canada is able to increase globalization and trade agreements
on an international level, than Canada should not be so unwilling to share jurisdiction with an
Aboriginal government.
Thomas Flanagan disapproves the idea of Native sovereignty ever coexisting with Canadian
sovereignty. Flanagan identifies the flaws in Townshend s arguments referring to them as a
theoretical approach and not a practical approach. It is true that the sharing of jurisdictional
power is the essence of the Canadian state but this cannot apply to the Aboriginals of Canada.
One reason a third level of government cannot work in Canada is In the 10 provinces, Canada has
over six hundred Indian bands living on more than 2200 reserves, plus hundreds of thousands of
MГ©tis and non status Indians who do not possess reserves, (Flanagan 44). Flanagan draws the
fact that No one has proposed a workable mechanism by which this far flung archipelago could

Comparing The Three Abrahamic Religions
The three Abrahamic religions share not just the same Supreme Being but they also share several
common themes. Many people view these three religions as separate entities but are more related
than most people would expect.
A simple commonality between the Abrahamic religions is that they all have a center of worship
and traveling to these locations is a holy obligation to these faiths. Jerusalem and the nation of
Israel is the seat of Judaism. Israel s diverse culture stems from the diversity of its population:
Jews from diaspora communities around the world have brought their cultural and religious

They were never aloud on the street in the first place says Deanie Parker during her interview.
That quote stuck with me for some time and led me to dive deeper into the politics of public
space and how it could relate to this piece. The final component to this piece is the definition of
place and lens within the city s legacy and youth culture. The concept of youth having autonomy
in public spaces is nonexistent in american culture. Youth are trained from a young age that
adults control their use of public spaces. Children are welcome in public space as long as an
adult controls how the child interacts. For instance, an adult of teacher is in control of how a
child interacts in the sandbox, the playground and during recess. Once the child enters middle
school and teen years, some autonomy develops which puts adults on edge as they want to control
how youth behave in these spaces. Our culture dictates to youth that they are not allowed to enter
spaces without the accompaniment of an adult. Social order dictates that groups of teenagers are
something to be fearful of. Place is crucial to the development and well being and of young
people. When youth have no public spaces to gather or perform without the risk of being
questioned by police this becomes an issue in the health and vitality of

Symptoms And Treatment Of Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Essay

Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, HCM is a cardiac disorder with a genetic etiology, characterized
by hypertrophy of the myocardium It is an important cause of morbidity and mortality in the
affected population. Both men and women are affected equally and people of any age and race
are at risk of developing HCM. It is the most common cause of sudden cardiac death SCD in young
adults, especially athletes.
Description of the disorder Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy is characterized by interventricular septal
hypertrophy (in absence of other cardiovascular conditions), causing decrease of left ventricle
cavity and potentially leading to outflow obstruction. (1) (6) As a consequence of mutations in
several genes encoding for thick and thin filaments which build the cardiac muscle, morphological
changes occur leading to tangled, thickened myocardial fibers. It is an important cause of morbidity
and mortality. Symptomatology varies a lot, from asymptomatic patients to those with severe
cardiac function impairment. Some of the most common symptoms of HCM, which are not
specific to this disorder may be: shortness of breath at rest or with exertion, fatigue, chest pain,
arrhythmias, dizziness, but not only.
There is an ongoing debate about the onset of the hypertrophy and symptoms. Although it is
confirmed that

How The Segmentation Task Would Be Implemented
One of the most important steps towards the completion of this project was the formulation of how
the segmentation task would be implemented. The segmentation strategy should be designed in
such a way that it can efficiently deal with the main challenges of the dataset.
Firstly, the method should be able to ignore background noise, as well as objects that are not
LDL particles. Additionally, it should be able to deal with adjacent and overlapping particles.
A widely used strategy[26, 4] is to face this problem as a binary classification task, with the goal of
classifying each pixel that lies on the surface of the object of interest as 1 and every other pixel as
0. However, this strategy would lead to loss of spatial information about the ... Show more content

Usually, more training data lead to a more robust network that can generalise better and as a result,
make more accurate predictions. However, in some cases, it is difficult to acquire large amounts of
training data, because their collection or production is either very time consuming or very
expensive. In the case of the micrographs this project is dealing with, the manual annotation
process is very time consuming (hence the need for the automation of this process) and this is why
our dataset is limited to 41 images.
However, in order to teach the neural network the desired invariance, a data augmentation strategy
was followed. More specifically, left right and top down mirroring was applied to each image,
which resulted in tripling the size of the original dataset. The same technique was also used on the
corresponding manually created segmentation masks, resulting in a labeled dataset consisting of
123 examples. This augmentation strategy has been proved to boost the performance of
convolutional networks in similar tasks [5]. Further augmentation of the dataset was initially
considered by rotating the images by 90, 180 and 270 degrees, however, training the neural
network on such a large dataset, turned out to be very computationally expensive, leading to very
long training time and as a result this idea was abandoned.
Additionally, to ensure that the memory requirements of the network during

Durf Epilogue
Janden sat Gaurn and Durf at a table near the bar and door. That put as much distance between
them and the strangers as possible, so each group could talk more comfortably. Then he brought

chunks of meat and vegetables in a thick gravy. It made a satisfying meal that came with a side of

their respective periods of dominance can be considered through analysis of the organisations

the period of the mid 1970 s can be attributed to the ability to build their race cars at the Maranello

and expertise, thus the ability to transfer knowledge between departments without leakage. When

The Importance Of Recess In School
Think about it, when was the last time you asked a kindergartener what their favorite subject in
school is and they didn t answer recess? With increased standardized testing and rigid federal and
state requirements, most elementary students are now spending more time in the classroom than
outside playing. Most schools seem to think that recess is unimportant or a waste of time that is not
needed in a childs education. This is a very untrue statement, in fact recess is not only good for our
health but it has also had positive effects on childrens everyday learning. Around the United States
researchers, teachers, parents and children have begun to notice that recess and its effects that it
has on children is essential in every child s school... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They couldn t think of time where they couldn t go out and play on the blacktop or swing on the
jungle gym or even hang with their friends. But the people running the school wouldn t notice a
difference. Even though school staff are trying to improve the amount of learning endured
during the day, they are actually decreasing the quality of work by taking away recess. Most
school officials are unaware of the importance of recess. Though the effects of recces on
kindergarteners and first graders are not very significant, as they get older signs of change
become more and more relevant whether its during testing or just paying attention during class.
Teachers may notice the difference but they may not know the causes of this lack of focus.
Speaking in support of more recess principal Angela Long said, We find that we spend less time
in the classroom redirecting off task behavior. So, kids are going to take recess whether it s in
the class or outside so we just give it to them, (Long). She is saying recess is essential to kids. It is

Beyond 1492 Encounter In Colonial North America Summary
Read Write #1 Beyond 1492: Native Reactions to Invasion America has come a long way since
Columbus began his voyage in 1492. In Beyond 1492: Encounter in Colonial North America,
James Axtell explains that when it comes to the Indian European encounter, there s more to the
story than what the average person grasps. Most people know of how the Natives were mistreated
and killed off by the Europeans with biological warfare and that a couple thousands of years later
the Pilgrims and Natives had their first feast together known as Thanksgiving . However, in chapter
four, Axtell s essay describes that surprisingly, there was a variety of ways Indians responded to the
Europeans that invaded their lands in the wake of Columbus. Axtell chronologically recapitulates
the history of the Indian reactions to the European encounters up until the 1700 s and categorizes
them into 5 strategies.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Economic Models Are False And So Government Should Ignore...
Question 1. Economic models are false and so government should ignore their predictions. Explain,
discuss and evaluate the accuracy of this statement. Answer 1: Economic models are the imaginary
concept which expresses economic procedure by using variables or quantitative correlations. It is a
simply method which uses mathematical and other technical aspects to show complex processes.
The statement stated above is false because with the help of the economic models, government can
predict about the future economy and make some changes in economic behaviours to achieve
highest possible outcome. Economy is an unstable factor and it has to be monitored to understand

Beyond the PPF line, point E is unattainable because resources are limited to get the further
outcome. At point D , the resources are not utilized fully which will creates the situation of
unemployment, less economic growth and many other economic impact. Any point inside the PPF
line is inefficient as either resources are not used fully or misallocated. Opportunity cost is the
choice made to get something by giving up another thing (Nash, n.d., para. 3). Here government
have two items to give emphasis computer and television. If government choose to produce
computer and wants to make digitalized study system then it has to forgone the television. In the
above figure, moving from point B to A, the quantity of television production increased by 2
thousands whereas the quantity of computer production decreased by 3 thousands. The opportunity
cost of 2 thousand televisions is 3 thousand computers (Besnek, 2017, slide 3). One of these
television cost 1.5 of computers production. Government must have to understand which the most
important thing to produce is and how to utilize the available resources efficiently to achieve the
maximum benefit for the country. This PPF model shows that, government have to accept and

Shell Oil and the Exploitation of Nigeria Essays
Shell Oil and the Exploitation of Nigeria
Nigeria has been a country in political turmoil for a long time. The country was created in 1914
under British colonial rule and at that time it was considered a protectorate. It was not until 1960
that Nigeria received independence from the United Kingdom. One of Nigeria s problems
politically is that it has over three hundred different ethnic groups. The three largest of these are the
Hausa Fulani, Igbo, and Yoruba. At the time of the independence of Nigeria it was split up into
three states with each state being under the control of one of the major ethnic groups. The natural

I am graduating with a B.A. from the University of Toronto on June 1st, 2016. I double majored
in Criminology and Socio Legal Studies and French Studies, two programs that have allowed me
to build on my research skills. Moreover, a Social Seminar in Social Institutions course that I took
in fourth year gave me the opportunity to conduct my own research on the topic of
multiculturalism. I am proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly in Word and Excel, as I use both
programs for my writing and for data entry respectively. My undergrad studies have also honed my
organizational and planning skills. Having taken a full course load every year, I worked under
multiple, strict and tight deadlines. I would have multiple midterms and assignments due in the
same week. My excellent organizational and planning skills have allowed me to work under such
circumstances: I prioritized the assignments that have an earlier due date, while ensuring that I plan
the outline for the assignments due at a later date. I have thus never missed a deadline thanks to my
excellent planning and organizational skills.
Furthermore, I have excellent verbal and written communication skills in both French and English.

Scene Analysis of The Green Mile Essay
The film The Green Mile was originally written by Stephen King and later directed by Frank
Darabont. It is based on the guards and inmates of a penitentiary s Death Row during the great
depression. There is a certain monotony that comes with working on Death Row and Paul
Edgecomb, played by Tom Hanks, has become numb to the fact that he is paid to take lives; that
is until John Coffey gets sentenced to death and is sent to Paul s green mile . John Coffey is a
very large black man that was accused of rape and murder of two little girls, and in the 1930 s

Biographical Interpretation Essay
Many people view poems and other pieces of writing in different ways, there is no wrong or
right way to interpret a work of someone, it merely your point of view; your opinions. In Sylvia
Plath s poem Daddy , many could say that it was a about a hard relationship she had with her
father, but how do we know? It could be about her father, husband, strong authority figure, or even
God. But, as I read DaddyI got the strong sense that it was mostly about her father. The poem
suggests that she had either an unhealthy relationship with him or she was angry with him for
leaving her. In the poem, Plath says I have always been scared of you (41); I view this as she may
not have had the best relationship with him. Maybe he was abusive or mean.... Show more content

Daddy is a poem where Plath expressed her most personal feelings about her father and
ultimately her husband also. In the poem, when Plath writes And then I knew what to do. / I
made a model of you, / A man in black with a Meinkampf look. (63 65). It suggests that she
possibly actually went to her father s grave and maybe she tried to dig up her father s bones to
prove to her that he was really dead. Or, possibly these lines mean that she married someone who
was a lot like him. She married someone who she could look at every day and who reminds her
of her father. But, if this poem is about her sad relationship with him, why would she want to be
reminded of him every day? This only makes me come to the conclusion that she did not have a
horrible relationship with him, she was just angry with him for leaving her, for dying. As you can
tell there can be many different interpretations for Sylvia Plath s poem Daddy . I believe that this
poem is about Sylvia, who is angry with her father for dying and leaving her behind, who wants
to express her feelings towards this in a poem. She writes deep, dark, meaningful, thoughts on her
emotions and her actions to get back to him. I think that this poem is very unique in the way that
she describes her life in the poem; she goes from when he died to when she was thirty, and along
the way uses many analogies to describe her feelings. She also uses many symbolic phrases that

The Dangerous Everyday
There are things all around us that can be very dangerous and we might never know. Soaps and
detergents are one of those things. Acids and bases are everywhere but, there are two specific
types: Sulphuric Acid and Sodium Hydroxide which we use on a regular day bases. An acid
classifies a wide range of materials including Sulphuric acidand bases Sodium Hydroxide. When
manufacturing soaps they use SodiumHydroxide, and detergents use Sulphuric Acid. But these two
can be very poisonous, and there are many symptoms that may happen, some even severe. The title
shows how much people may be using dangerous things without having the knowledge that they
can harm them.
Acid and bases can be found in our everyday lives. An acid is a compound that usually has a sour
taste, containing hydrogen that can be replaced by a metal to form salt. Bases taste bitter and feel
slippery, their water solution conducts and electric currents. When acids and bases are put together
they make salt and water. The Arrhenius theory states that acids are substances which produce
hydrogen ions in a solution and bases are substances in which produce hydroxide ions in a
solution. Neutralization happens when hydrogen ions and hydroxide ions produce water.
Something we use every is soaps, detergents and fertilizers, all of these have acids and bases. The
manufacturing of soaps use the base Sodium hydroxide and the detergent and fertilizer use
Sulphuric acid. Sodium hydroxide is a white solid,

Veiled Sentiment Essay
Discourse is verbal and non verbal way of exchanging thoughts and feelings. Although in Veiled
Sentiments, Bedouin people seemed to be sharing the same opinions and emotions privately as
well as in public, noticeable contrast between the public and private discourses existed. In this
paper, I will try to clarify the distinction and provide an example of a discourse from my everyday
life. Discourse is a long talk or piece of writing about a subject that serves as a tool to exchange
ideas and sentiments. Michael Foucault presents possibly the best definition of discourse. He says,
Discourse is the systems of thoughts composed of ideas, attitudes, and courses of action, beliefs and
practices that systematically construct the subjects and the worlds of which they speak. In Veiled
Sentiments, it was mainly about poetic letters and conversations Bedouin natives used to
communicate with each other. However, Bedouins shared different content in their discourses in
public and in private situations and poetry certainly signified the disparity. Public discourses were
used with particular intentions. Generally... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

poems. Women shared their poems only with their relatives, friends or neighbors. Men, also limited
the group of people they shared private poems to their relatives of the same generation and men

exchange private poems with each other to express feelings and affection. Another point worth
mentioning is that Bedouins never wrote their names after any poems. People would understand the
meaning of a poem if it was written to them, without knowing the author. At the same time, this
tradition protected the authors from embarrassment or issues when poems ended up in wrong

America truly looks like.
Michael Moore tries to prove his point by showing images that are very intense. The most
intense image in my mind is the picture of a deformed child who has experienced the wrath of
Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols after bombing the federal government building in
Oklahoma City. It can be concluded that Timothy and Terry did not have the intention of hurting
children; rather they were after the federal government. This is the problem in our society;
Timothy and Terry were willing to sacrifice the souls of young children for their own cause,
portraying a lot about their wild violent minds. Moreover the picture of the destroyed building in
which 168 people died, shows so much recklessness. The fact that two men were able to organize
a mass destruction portrays the undisciplined mindset that they are in at the time of the crime,
such acts of violence lays the ground work for the film showing how America is basically

How Teachers Can Help
Attention Deficit Disorder can lead to several different problems such as slow work completion,
inconsistent accuracy in class work and homework, and poor study skills (DuPaul Stoner, 1994). In
order to decrease the problems that result from the disorder, teachers must accommodate and assist
the children by using various techniques and ideas. Even though medication is widely used as an
intervention for students with ADD, training in organizational strategies, self monitoring, self

Teaching in a normal school is congruent with the left brained educational system that emphasizes
orderliness, sequentially and familiarity...ADD children are right brained, visual and random in
their processing. (Kai, p.27). The teacher should make the instructions clear and easily
understandable. Complex instructions to assignments should be simplified and instructions repeated
clearly (Kidsource, 2000). When giving assignments to students, teachers must modify them. This
means that the time given to complete the task should be based on the teacher s knowledge of how
the student works. Children with ADD often become frustrated when working. In order to reduce
this, teachers must monitor and support them frequently. Positive reinforcers can be used as a form
of support as well as verbal encouragement. (Kidsource, 2000).
Other interventions have been devised in order to assist students in learning. One such intervention
is computer assisted instruction. The benefits of it include individualized instruction, immediate
feedback, consistent correction and motivation. It is more interesting then typical class work and
provides highly stimulating and fun activities (ADDinschool). In fact, in a study by DuPaul and

Growing up, my parents instilled the value of service in me. For this reason, I pursued a degree

Before my term of service, I thought serving was just a matter of showing up and completing a
task. While this is partially true, I learned that in order to maximize change, it is important to
involve who we are serving. At times, we focus more on quantity rather than quality and end up
doing a disservice to communities who need the most help. I want to serve with The Peace Corps to

The Influence Of Nathaniel Bacon s Rebellion
Nathaniel Bacon was a man of intelligence, determination, and to some, great stubbornness. His
actions in the early Virginia colony are sometimes looked at as a foreshadowing of what later would
become the American Revolution and in a way, the young scholar changed the way the government
was structured throughout the early American settlements. The arrival of wealthy, educated Bacon
changed the dynamic of the colonies. He challenged the rule of Sir William Berkeley, governor of
the Virginia colony in ways that satisfied the rest of the colonists, who had their share of dislike
towards the ruler because of his disregard for their opinions and needs. The people felt like they
had a voice, a voice that was represented by Bacon. It is fair to say that one of the things he was

feeling of not being protected, disagreement on how to handle neighboring Native Americans,
and favoritism/corruption among rulers, just to name a few unfortunately dispersed following
the death of its leader on October 26, 1676. However, Bacon s efforts had a lasting effect. The
most obvious change had to do with the lowering of tax rates. At the same time, the rebellion
paved way for equality. The idea of the consent of the people was established and Sir William
Berkeley s successors were careful in the ways they ruled and were mindful of the people, fearing a

Solicitors Within Criminal Cases ( P3 )
Solicitors in Criminal Cases:
A solicitor is a lawyer who deals directly with clients by giving legal advice as well as preparing
legal documents and if necessary advocating in court. Solicitors are generally found in firms in
towns and cities and therefore are easily accessible to all.
A solicitor needs to get all key details from the client before a bail hearing. Solicitors undertaking

Barristers are trained to advise clients on the strengths and weaknesses of their cases and to act as

Francis Crick asked, Well, what do you observe? It was then in late January 1953 that we made

and changed it into a state that it had never seen before. The photo, though still grainy, was the best

is the best proof that DNA exists in a double helix structure, though it only shows it qualitatively.
I responded. It had long been a mystery at how DNA, or deoxyribonucleic acid, was regarded,

people, almost half of the world s population, are at risk of malaria. Granted we live in a time
where in the United States malaria is rare to hear about these days but in developing and
undeveloped countries, Malaria is a very real threat. Malaria has been plaguing societies for
years. Only recently has the Unites States and other countries been able to make it a rare instance
due to control of mosquitos. The symptoms of malaria was first described in Chinese writings, the
Nei Ching (2700 BC). It became widely known in Greece, Hippocrates noted the principle
symptoms. In the Susruta, a Sanskrit medical treatise, the symptoms of malaria were described and
attributed to certain bites of insects. Some Roman writers thought the diseases were attributed to
swampy areas. In the New World, Indians told Spanish missionaries of the medical bark they used
to treat the fevers of those infected with malaria. With the bark it actually cured the wife of the
Viceroy of Peru. After this the bark from that tree was called Cinchona after the countess. The
antimalarial, quinine, derives from this bark and

Essay on Police in Ontario
Policing in Ontario
1. What are the different types of police forces we have in Ontario and how do they differ and how
are they the same?
In Ontario, we have three different types of police forces. They are the municipal which are the
numbered divisions within a city, provincial which is the Ontario Provincial Police, and federal
which is the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Municipal police forces are established by the
municipalities and are usually in every major city. If a city has a population of approximately 50
000 100 000, then they usually contract out the policing to the RCMP such as in the case of
Burnaby and Northern Vancouver, B.C. Municipal police forces are the most common type of
policing found in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another reason why I strongly believe that policing in Ontario is good is because of the T.A.V.I.S.
program. The Toronto Anti Violence Intervention Strategy is a group of officers who focus on
community policing and interaction with the community. They are deployed within a
neighbourhood who are experiencing a rise in crime, and it s their job to try to figure out the root
cause of the problem by cooperating with the community. Their goals are to make
neighbourhoods safer, not by arresting more people, but by the reduction of crime. Even though
I believe policing in Ontario is good, there can obviously be changes or enhancements in order to
be more effective. First off, Ontario needs to recognize aboriginal policing as a fully fledged
police force. Not only are they more effective than regular police, they are also the preferred
policing amongst the aboriginal people themselves. One of the most important aspects the police
have to work on is community support and trust. They need to reach out and communicate with
the communities. I say this because I believe the reputation of officers is tarnished, especially
amongst any persons in priority neighbourhoods under the age of 30. In order to prove this, I went
to the Kingston/Galloway area which is one of the priority neighbourhoods. I interviewed
approximately 15 people of all different races, ages (under 30), and nationalities. Remarkably, not a

Dormant Commerce Clause
The decision of the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals should be affirmed. The state of Eastland s waste
disposal regulation is neither discriminatory nor protectionist. Historically, businesses and
professionals know that licensing requirements and authority belongs solely to states and local
governments. A state government does not violate the commerce clause when it sets licensing
requirements for incineration and interment of fetal tissues pursuant to its autonomy and police
powers in carrying out local activities that has always been its traditional functions to ensure the
health and safety of its citizens. Also, a state acts legitimately and fairly when having properly
taxed its citizens towards the provision of a safe means of disposal of... Show more content on

A state or local authority does not necessarily violate the commerce clause when having created a
market through a state funded program requires out of staters to pay a minimal percentage as
their fair share to participate in the program. McBurney v. Young, 133 S. Ct. 1709 (2013). While
this requirement might seem protectionist in a loose sense, it simply reflects the fundamental
function of a state government to maintain an even handed and fair access to state services for the
benefit of all residents. The fee in question is to be applied to an activity with a substantial nexus
with Eastland, it is minimal and fairly apportioned, and it is nondiscriminatory. Furthermore, there
is an undeniable rational relationship between the fee and the activity covered. Trinova Corp. v.
Mich. Dep t of Treasury, 498 U.S. 358 (1991). The citizens of Eastland has already paid their fair
quota through the state tax, which out of staters did not pay. It is only fair that they contribute their
fair share to benefit from the program. Additionally, the money will cover the extra cost necessary
to maintain the routine and proper inspection of the out of state disposal services. Even if,
concededly, there is any burden on interstate commerce, it

Doctrine of Double Effect Essay
Alecia Rhines
Doctrine of Double Effect
Trident University
What is the Doctrine of Double Effect?
The doctrine of double effect if often invoked to explain the permissibility of an action that
causes a serious harm, such as the death of a human being, as a side effect of promoting good
ends. It is claimed that sometimes it is permissible to cause such harm as a side effect of bringing
about a good result even though it would not be permissible to cause such harm as a means to
bringing about the same good end. The reasoning is summarized with the claim that sometimes it is
permissible to bring about as merely foreseen side effect a harmful event that it would be
impermissible to bring about intentionally (Uniacke 1984). It is not ... Show more content on

* The action must be appropriate (a): I also have to give the patient the right medicine. If I give the
patient a fatal dose of pain killing drugs, it is no use saying that my intention was to relieve their
symptoms of vomiting if the drug does not have any effect on vomiting. * The action must be
appropriate (b): I also have to give the patient the right medicine for their symptoms. If I give the
patient a fatal dose of pain killing drugs, it is no use saying that my intention was to relieve their
symptoms of pain if the patient was not suffering from pain but from breathlessness. * The
patient must be in a terminal condition: if I give the patient a fatal dose of pain killing drugs and
they would have recovered from their disease or injury if I had not given them the drugs, it is no
use saying that my intention was to relieve their pain. And that applies even if there was no other
way of controlling their pain. (Scanlon 2008).
Scanlon s View on the Doctrine of Double Effect Scanlon explores the ethical significance of the
intentions and motives with which people act. According to Scanlon, these intentions and motives
do not have any direct bearing on the permissibility of the act. Thus, Scanlon claims that the
traditional Doctrine of Double Effect is mistaken. However, the way in which someone is motivated
to act has

How Did The Medici Have Too Much Power
The Medici had too much power. Why. Because, they want to become power for themselves. The
Medici s complex relationship with Florence and used their position of the papacy to build their
own power through and after the Pope Leo X indulgences. In the country of Florence, people
would used their time wisely and their choice through a man would of raised into the country in
their way to a ruler and they would controlled fairly. Compared to the Medici the people would
have to follow the rule. The Medici wants to build more to his country and for him to become

Florence. What they are doing is talking about the wealthiest power. By 1457, under the direction

which give you remission from sins. So if you d been naughty in some respect the Pope would
sell you an indulgence which would remit your sins, it would cleanse your sins ( The Medici
Popes ). I wonder why would the Pope Leo X sell the papal indulgence. My opinion, is that I
think those papers were really important to others people that may had work with the Pope. This
is just similar to The Inquisition , they had consisted of the powerful and into their agents to

The Medieval Church
One of the issues of the Medieval church was that they were worried that their pastorate were not
sufficiently concentrating on otherworldly matters and were concentrating a lot on material riches.
This was created generally as a result of a development of riches inside of the religious
communities and inside of the individual coffers of the church. With this came a rot of general
ethical quality, displayed by the ascent of indecencies, for example, insatiability, lack of restraint,
and savagery. The Church looked to defeat these indecencies essentially by expulsion and
execution. The Reformation of the sixteenth century was not a surprise. Reformers inside of the

Symbolism in the poem the Walrus and the Carpenter
Lewis Carroll s The Walrus and the Carpenter could possibly be just a nonsensical rhyme meant
purely for entertainment value. The fact that this is a nonsense poem inside a nonsense story
makes it all the more difficult to decipher a deeper meaning. Like the author, who had a darker
side to him, so too might his work. Carroll made this statement in a letter to an American friend,I
m very much afraid I didn t mean anything but nonsense. Still, you know, words mean more than
we mean to express when we use them; so a whole book ought to mean a great deal more than the
writer means. So, whatever good meanings are in the book, I m glad to accept as the meaning of
the book. (Shaw)This passage almost defines the relationship between the author... Show more

Through his wise years and possible tricks in the past he knows enough not to budge from the
mud. The eldest Oyster looked at him,?But never a word he said:?The eldest Oyster winked his
eye,?And shook his heavy head ?Meaning to say he did not choose? To leave the oyster bed.
(Carroll 37 42 qtd. in Shaw)The youthful oysters, who have not yet dealt with such persons,
agree to venture out on a jaunt. The trip down the beach symbolizes the blind way the common
man will follow the politician to his eminent demise. The oysters gather and more and more
follow the two leaders down the length of the beach. The Walrus and the Carpenter lead the
oysters a great distance until the oysters are exhausted from the journey. Stopping on a rock that
is conveniently low, the Walrus gathers up his followers, who stand in neat rows close by, and
begins a speech with the most remembered portion of Carroll s poem. The time has come, the
Walrus said,? To talk of many things:?Of shoes and ships and sealing wax ?Of cabbages and
kings ?And why the sea is boiling hot ?And whether pigs have wings. (Carroll 61 66 qtd. in
Shaw)The Walrus s speech is a remark on politicians gathering listeners and mesmerizing them into
thinking that everything they say is pertinent to them when really it is all nonsense (De Rooy).

line. Before the walk, the oysters did make sure that

  • 2. The Ethical Dilemma Of A Family Nurse Practitioner As a family nurse practitioner (FNP), we have the responsibility to provide the best care we can with the patient s best interest at heart. On a daily basis we deal with the needs and wants of our patients, this alone provides an ethical dilemma. What we think is best and what our patients want could in fact create an ethical dilemma, however, when we have an ethical dilemma, it is our responsibility to get to a decision with caring, respect, an open mind and honesty to our patients (Parker, 2007). In making a decision regarding an ethical dilemma it is our responsibility to use a framework model to guide us in making an informed decision that is best for our patients. It may not always be the most popular decision but if it is in our patient s best interest, then you are practicing as a good and prudent, NP. Ethical Dilemma: When is it appropriate to prescribe antibiotic therapy? The ethical dilemma is this; a new FNP is working in a primary care practice. She is seeing patients and her friend Kate comes in with a cold. The FNP believes it is viral. Kate is insisting on getting a prescription for an antibiotic. The FNP does not feel that prescribing an antibiotic is warranted based on her findings as well as Kate s signs and symptoms. The FNP faces the dilemma of what happens if she gives in to Kate and prescribes an antibiotic versus not prescribing an antibiotic due to it not being necessary. We as practicing providers have an ethical responsibility to our patients at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Study Of Popular Culture The study of popular culture is useful in many ways. To specify, this course has reached its three intended main ideas: what it means to be an American, how to be consumption conscious, and how to apply these studies in our own lives. Jim Cullen puts this in a less specific sense, arguing that the study of popularculturecan afford valuable clues about collective fears, hopes, and debates (Cullen, The Art of Democracy, 2). We study these clues to understand the world around us, as well as why we do what we do as Americans and as humans. I will be touching on themes that relate to this quotation by Cullen, escapism, exploitation, and globalization, and how these themes relate to the course goals. For most of the twentieth century, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These illustrated novels gained popularity during World War II. Comic book writers would incorporate real world concerns into their work, proposing ideas of how a post World War America should function. For example, in one story, Superman crushes a plot by wealthy American financiers working for a foreign power to manipulate the stock exchange and plunge the nation into another depression (Comic Book Nation, 12). In this case, the writers are appealing to a worried nation that jumps into a story where superheroes put greedy corporations to rest, and the nation is stable. Escapism also manifested itself in the Beatlemania craze. In a highly sexualized society ... teen and preteen girls were expected to be not only good and pure but to be the enforcers of purity within their teen society ... To abandon control to scream, faint, dash about in mobs was, in form if not in conscious intent, to protest the sexual repressiveness, the rigid double standard of female teen culture. It was the first and most dramatic uprising of women s sexual revolution (Beatlemania, 85). Young girls are seeking an escape from a critical society that expects them to be pure and perfect, when in reality, that is too much of a standard for a teenager to uphold. Some psychologists at the time of the craze even believed that girls ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This is aligned with takt as customers are given the expectation that orders take 2 weeks on average to be installed. Customers are willing to wait the two weeks to ensure the install goes smooth. This way, the security of their business is not compromised. Expedites can be taken on a case to case basis, but none have been requested to this point. The only difference is that these installs will require 2 technicians rather than 1 for quality as well as employee safety. Materials needed specifically for the smart office product will be the indoor and/or outdoor camera (s), RG11 wiring, and plastic brackets with screws for placing the RG11 where it is functional without affecting the business s aesthetic look (minimal cost under $0.10 per unit). Indoor camera will be purchased at $360/unit, while the outdoor ready units are $385. RG11 is bought at roughly $0.25/foot. Technicians make variable wages based on experience, time with company, etc., but the average wage is about $23/hour + benefits. With a five hour install, this means our technicians cost $115 per install/each (plus costs of elected benefits). Average cost for an install, using 2 cameras and 30 feet of RG11 for learning purposes, will cost about $982 to Comcast. Customers are charged an install fee of $199 for the initial camera, and $99 for any additional. This eliminates almost $300 of the $982 upfront cost for Comcast. The mountains give off natural radiation, other forms of radiation are coal burning power plants, x rays from a TV, and an airplane ride. The average dose from background radiation is about 360 mrem every year. There are two types of radiation, nonionizing and ionizing radiation. Examples of nonionizing radiation are microwaves and radio waves broadcasting. Ionizing radiation refers to gamma and x rays. • 7. The Legacy Of President Jefferson Youngblood 1 In 1803, an important decision was made that would dramatically change a country forever. This metamorphic compromise had been made by America s third president, Thomas Jefferson. He purchased the bountiful and beautiful land of Louisiana from France. Jefferson wanted to expand America, and adding more land seemed like the perfect solution. Indeed, if it had not been for President Jefferson, one may be living in an entirely different type of culture. President Thomas Jefferson needed men to explore the new land. They are used to observe physical or environmental conditions, for example, temperature, sound, natural activities etc. They collect data from each active node and pass it to the network to the centralized location. There are many flaws occurred in wireless sensor network like user authentication as well as data travel in the network is not so much secure. We are developing a technique in which firstly we are allowing the user to pass the hard security authentication scheme and then the user can join the network. Further we are also providing a secure file transmission in network via public and private key concept. In this way we maintain the secure and authenticated transmission of data in predescribed environment. Keywords Data Transmission, Wireless Sensor ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Essay about Native Sovereignty July 11th 1990, marked the beginning date of the Oka Crisis in Quebec Canada. It lasted until September 26th 1990 resulting in one fatality of a local police officer. The violent clash was triggered by something as simple as a golf course extension and as complicated as native burial traditions. It had drawn world attention, catapulting native land rights into the mix. The Oka Crisis is just one of many conflicts between the Aboriginals and the Canadian government. A major issue that has been of much debate in the 20th century has been Native sovereignty. The demand sounds simple, allow Aboriginals of Canadato govern themselves; however, coexisting with the Canadian government makes this idea extremely complicated. Roger Townshend states... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Townshend describes how Aboriginals view the Canadian government as a foreign government. Furthermore, Townshend disputes the process of assimilation, integrating Aboriginals to the modern Canadian society. The solution is to create a third tier government that would work in cohesion with the Federal and Provincial levels. Different levels of government and the ...sharing of jurisdictional powers between government institutions is already part of the essence of the Canadian state, (Townshend 39). If Canada is able to increase globalization and trade agreements on an international level, than Canada should not be so unwilling to share jurisdiction with an Aboriginal government. Thomas Flanagan disapproves the idea of Native sovereignty ever coexisting with Canadian sovereignty. Flanagan identifies the flaws in Townshend s arguments referring to them as a theoretical approach and not a practical approach. It is true that the sharing of jurisdictional power is the essence of the Canadian state but this cannot apply to the Aboriginals of Canada. One reason a third level of government cannot work in Canada is In the 10 provinces, Canada has over six hundred Indian bands living on more than 2200 reserves, plus hundreds of thousands of MГ©tis and non status Indians who do not possess reserves, (Flanagan 44). That quote stuck with me for some time and led me to dive deeper into the politics of public space and how it could relate to this piece. The final component to this piece is the definition of place and lens within the city s legacy and youth culture. The concept of youth having autonomy in public spaces is nonexistent in american culture. Youth are trained from a young age that adults control their use of public spaces. Children are welcome in public space as long as an adult controls how the child interacts. For instance, an adult of teacher is in control of how a child interacts in the sandbox, the playground and during recess. Once the child enters middle school and teen years, some autonomy develops which puts adults on edge as they want to control how youth behave in these spaces. Our culture dictates to youth that they are not allowed to enter spaces without the accompaniment of an adult. Social order dictates that groups of teenagers are something to be fearful of. Place is crucial to the development and well being and of young people. When youth have no public spaces to gather or perform without the risk of being questioned by police this becomes an issue in the health and vitality of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Symptoms And Treatment Of Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Essay Keywords: HCM, sarcomere, thick and thin filaments, gene mutation, autosomal dominant, Doppler echocardiography, dual chamber pacemaker, septal ablation, myomectomy) Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, HCM is a cardiac disorder with a genetic etiology, characterized by hypertrophy of the myocardium It is an important cause of morbidity and mortality in the affected population. Both men and women are affected equally and people of any age and race are at risk of developing HCM. It is the most common cause of sudden cardiac death SCD in young adults, especially athletes. Description of the disorder Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy is characterized by interventricular septal hypertrophy (in absence of other cardiovascular conditions), causing decrease of left ventricle cavity and potentially leading to outflow obstruction. (1) (6) As a consequence of mutations in several genes encoding for thick and thin filaments which build the cardiac muscle, morphological changes occur leading to tangled, thickened myocardial fibers. It is an important cause of morbidity and mortality. Symptomatology varies a lot, from asymptomatic patients to those with severe cardiac function impairment. Some of the most common symptoms of HCM, which are not specific to this disorder may be: shortness of breath at rest or with exertion, fatigue, chest pain, arrhythmias, dizziness, but not only. There is an ongoing debate about the onset of the hypertrophy and symptoms. Although it is confirmed that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The segmentation strategy should be designed in such a way that it can efficiently deal with the main challenges of the dataset. Firstly, the method should be able to ignore background noise, as well as objects that are not LDL particles. Additionally, it should be able to deal with adjacent and overlapping particles. A widely used strategy[26, 4] is to face this problem as a binary classification task, with the goal of classifying each pixel that lies on the surface of the object of interest as 1 and every other pixel as 0. However, this strategy would lead to loss of spatial information about the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Usually, more training data lead to a more robust network that can generalise better and as a result, make more accurate predictions. However, in some cases, it is difficult to acquire large amounts of training data, because their collection or production is either very time consuming or very expensive. In the case of the micrographs this project is dealing with, the manual annotation process is very time consuming (hence the need for the automation of this process) and this is why our dataset is limited to 41 images. However, in order to teach the neural network the desired invariance, a data augmentation strategy was followed. More specifically, left right and top down mirroring was applied to each image, which resulted in tripling the size of the original dataset. The same technique was also used on the corresponding manually created segmentation masks, resulting in a labeled dataset consisting of 123 examples. This augmentation strategy has been proved to boost the performance of convolutional networks in similar tasks [5]. Further augmentation of the dataset was initially considered by rotating the images by 90, 180 and 270 degrees, however, training the neural network on such a large dataset, turned out to be very computationally expensive, leading to very long training time and as a result this idea was abandoned. In Sylvia Plath s poem Daddy , many could say that it was a about a hard relationship she had with her father, but how do we know? It could be about her father, husband, strong authority figure, or even God. But, as I read DaddyI got the strong sense that it was mostly about her father. The poem suggests that she had either an unhealthy relationship with him or she was angry with him for leaving her. In the poem, Plath says I have always been scared of you (41); I view this as she may not have had the best relationship with him. Maybe he was abusive or mean.... In the poem, when Plath writes And then I knew what to do. / I made a model of you, / A man in black with a Meinkampf look. (63 65). It suggests that she possibly actually went to her father s grave and maybe she tried to dig up her father s bones to prove to her that he was really dead. Or, possibly these lines mean that she married someone who was a lot like him. She married someone who she could look at every day and who reminds her of her father. But, if this poem is about her sad relationship with him, why would she want to be reminded of him every day? This only makes me come to the conclusion that she did not have a horrible relationship with him, she was just angry with him for leaving her, for dying. As you can tell there can be many different interpretations for Sylvia Plath s poem Daddy . I believe that this poem is about Sylvia, who is angry with her father for dying and leaving her behind, who wants to express her feelings towards this in a poem. She writes deep, dark, meaningful, thoughts on her emotions and her actions to get back to him. This included the burning down of Jamestown in September of 1676 and the rebellion led in his name known as Bacon s Rebellion. However, Bacon s efforts had a lasting effect. The most obvious change had to do with the lowering of tax rates. At the same time, the rebellion paved way for equality. • 39. Double Helix Research Paper Francis Crick asked, Well, what do you observe? It was then in late January 1953 that we made the discovery. My heart was racing, I knew that this picture that Crick held up in his hand, now known as photo 51, was the key that led to the discovery, the discovery that revolutionized science and changed it into a state that it had never seen before. The photo, though still grainy, was the best we saw and portrayed a diffraction pattern of DNAthat would forever revolutionize science. This is the best proof that DNA exists in a double helix structure, though it only shows it qualitatively. I responded. It had long been a mystery at how DNA, or deoxyribonucleic acid, was regarded, and how it was able to perform actions, like translating, replicating, etc. on a large scale with minimal error. This was just the spark that we needed to finally comprehend the structure of DNA. Not long after, Crick and I... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 40. Malaria Is A Threat Of Malaria Malaria, just the very name rings with menace. It is a life threatening disease cause by parasites transmitted from infected bites of female mosquitoes. Now if you live in any area that is humid, hot, and prone to rain or near water and has mosquitos you are at risk for contracting this parasite. Normally Africa, South America, Middle East, rarely developed countries. About 3.2 billion people, almost half of the world s population, are at risk of malaria. Granted we live in a time where in the United States malaria is rare to hear about these days but in developing and undeveloped countries, Malaria is a very real threat. Malaria has been plaguing societies for years. Only recently has the Unites States and other countries been able to make it a rare instance due to control of mosquitos. The symptoms of malaria was first described in Chinese writings, the Nei Ching (2700 BC). It became widely known in Greece, Hippocrates noted the principle symptoms. In the Susruta, a Sanskrit medical treatise, the symptoms of malaria were described and attributed to certain bites of insects. Some Roman writers thought the diseases were attributed to swampy areas. In the New World, Indians told Spanish missionaries of the medical bark they used to treat the fevers of those infected with malaria. With the bark it actually cured the wife of the Viceroy of Peru. After this the bark from that tree was called Cinchona after the countess. The antimalarial, quinine, derives from this bark and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In Ontario, we have three different types of police forces. They are the municipal which are the numbered divisions within a city, provincial which is the Ontario Provincial Police, and federal which is the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Municipal police forces are established by the municipalities and are usually in every major city. If a city has a population of approximately 50 000 100 000, then they usually contract out the policing to the RCMP such as in the case of Burnaby and Northern Vancouver, B.C. Municipal police forces are the most common type of policing found in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another reason why I strongly believe that policing in Ontario is good is because of the T.A.V.I.S. program. The Toronto Anti Violence Intervention Strategy is a group of officers who focus on community policing and interaction with the community. They are deployed within a neighbourhood who are experiencing a rise in crime, and it s their job to try to figure out the root cause of the problem by cooperating with the community. Their goals are to make neighbourhoods safer, not by arresting more people, but by the reduction of crime. Even though I believe policing in Ontario is good, there can obviously be changes or enhancements in order to be more effective. First off, Ontario needs to recognize aboriginal policing as a fully fledged police force. Not only are they more effective than regular police, they are also the preferred policing amongst the aboriginal people themselves. One of the most important aspects the police have to work on is community support and trust. They need to reach out and communicate with the communities. I say this because I believe the reputation of officers is tarnished, especially amongst any persons in priority neighbourhoods under the age of 30. In order to prove this, I went to the Kingston/Galloway area which is one of the priority neighbourhoods. I interviewed approximately 15 people of all different races, ages (under 30), and nationalities. Remarkably, not a single person ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

McBurney v. Young, 133 S. Ct. 1709 (2013). While this requirement might seem protectionist in a loose sense, it simply reflects the fundamental function of a state government to maintain an even handed and fair access to state services for the benefit of all residents. The fee in question is to be applied to an activity with a substantial nexus with Eastland, it is minimal and fairly apportioned, and it is nondiscriminatory. The doctrine of double effect if often invoked to explain the permissibility of an action that causes a serious harm, such as the death of a human being, as a side effect of promoting good ends. It is claimed that sometimes it is permissible to cause such harm as a side effect of bringing about a good result even though it would not be permissible to cause such harm as a means to bringing about the same good end.
