Equine Nutrition
Equine Nutrition The digestive system of the horse consists of a simple stomach, small intestines,
cecum, large and small colons, rectum and anus. The horse s stomach is comparatively small for
its size. The stomach of an average horse has a holding capacity of about two gallons. This may be
the reason horses eat small but frequent meals. From the stomach food moves to the small intestine,
which is the main site of digestion. The small intestine empties into the cecum. The cecum; along
with the large colon; make up the large intestine. Digestion in the large intestine occurs by action
of bacteria and protozoa. (arg.gov.sk.ca) The energy content found in feeds and how it is measured

Adults need calcium and phosphorous to maintain cell function and bone mineral.
(arg.gov.sk.ca) Micro minerals or trace minerals required by horses include Iodine, Copper,
Zinc, manganese and selenium. Horses use Iodine for fetal development and to regulate
metabolism. inadequate iodine intake in pregnancy can cause serious fetal abnormalities. Foals
may be born weak, may not suckle or stand. Thyroid glands can be enlarged (goiter) or normal.
Rarely, foals are born hairless or may have ruptured extensor tendons and swollen joints. Iodine
deficient newborns may be more prone to infections. Iodine deficient mares may or may not
have goiter, a longer gestation and retained placentas. Iodine deficiency can be prevented by
feeding iodized salt. Goiter is also a sign of too much iodine or iodine toxicity. (arg.gov.sk.ca)
Copper has been promoted as a bone disease preventative as horses use copper in bone, cartilage,
and pigment formation. Lack of iron can cause anemia but is maor likely to arise from blood
loss due to internal parasites. Iron dextran used to treat baby pig anemia must not be given to
horses since fatal, allergic reactions can occur. (arg.gov.sk.ca) Conditions such as muscle pain or
skin irritation were associated with low serum levels of selenium or zinc. (Wichert et al.)
Deficiencies may cause hair loss and poor wound healing. Low intakes of selenium cause white

Business Ethics Essay (grapes
Business Ethics Essay
Business ethics are a moral code that people conducting any sort of business should feel honorably
obligated to follow. People are definitely morally responsible to follow a code of ethics and should
never cheat each other. Parts of this code of ethics should be honesty, integrity, fidelity, charity,
responsibility, and self discipline. Those ethics should apply both to a person buying something,
and a person selling something. I don t believe that a person should be forced to follow the caveat
emptor policy, on the basis that it is unfair and unjust both to the buyer and seller. If you are an
ethical person, you should not have to warn people to beware. ... Show more content on

For example, they used to coerce women into liking specific cars, so the husband would have to
feel forced to buy the car to impress their girlfriends/wives. Another example is how the car
dealer used to put lousy parts into the cars and sell them, knowing that the car would break down
5 miles down the road. He took advantage of the people s necessity to get out of Oklahoma for his
own personal gain.
Also, the buyer has a certain responsibility too. They need to make sure to not completely trust
the seller, because not everyone is ethical. They should examine the goods carefully, ask
educated questions, and read up on the topic before going ahead and buying something. For
example, in The Grapes of Wrath, the car dealer was able to take more advantage of the people
because he can see the raw need on their faces, and how they didn t really ask anything to make
him give them a better deal. Therefore, the people didn t do their part of being ethical buyers to get
the best and most honest deal.
The advertiser also has a big responsibility too, to be honest in the ads. For example, in The
Grapes of Wrath, the car dealership advertised a nice car at a very cheap price, but they never
sold that car. They lied to the people who wanted to buy that car, saying that it had just been sold.
They took advantage of the people s

How Oxford Has Coped with the Demands of Modern-Day Tourism
We shall see in this essay how a city has coped with the many demands of modern day tourism
and maintained its position as a Mecca for millions of travelers. Today s travel and tourism
industry has grown into a global economic powerhouse whose combined direct and indirect impact
on the world economy is enormous, according to the World Travel Tourism
Council (WTTC). . (
Fuller,2014)
Fodor s travel guide says Oxford has perhaps the most famous university in the world . Since
Oxford University can traces it routes back to 1167 the city has been attracting people from across
the globe for centuries. The history of the city, largely forged by the university, has led to the need
for other inter related services notably in accommodation, transportation, travel organisations and
the development of other destinations. Both public and private sectors have responded to the
challenge.
In the City of Oxford there are many examples of hospitality and tourism, as seen by the constant
stream of visitors who crowd its streets at weekends throughout the year, striving to get the best
view of the historic number of colleges protruding onto every street. This is Oxford s prize
possession that sets it apart from other destinations in the UK and the world. However there are
sub sectors that play a big part in Oxford. One of the largest examples is the popularity and growth
of the accommodation sector, more specifically hotels. This essay will evaluate the Randolph Hotel

Four Teaching Strategies That Increase Curiosity in Math...
There are many strategies and techniques that could be used in the classroom to encourage
curiosity in math, but the four I chose to discuss I thought would be the most beneficial. This is
due to the way they support auditory, visual, and kinesthetic styles of learning. The four strategies
teachers could use to encourage curiosity towards mathematics in a classroom include co operative
learning, guided or discovery learning, simulate real life experiences, and active student learning.
These four learning strategies range from group learning to the use of manipulatives to real life
experiences and group discussions where students can share their ideas and thinking processes.
Therefore, students would be able to learn in a variety of formats... Show more content on

The purpose of creating real life experiences is to make math more relatable to students. It will
also demonstrate how math is used in the community and in their lives on a daily basis. This
will create more interest in math, since students will have a tangible sense of why math is
needed. A good example of this strategy includes role playing or dramatic play. The goal is to
create real life experiences in which students will need to use their math skills to solve every day
problems. For instance, making play currency and having the students go to the market to buy
produce is one experience that is a necessity in life. The teacher can have the students make a list,
create a budget and have the students buy what they need within their budget. Then, they can pay a
cashier and the cashier will then need to give back change. Given the age of the students, the
teacher may not have a dramatic center, but can then have students work in pairs at their desks. For
example, each student creates their shopping list and budget; buy their produce on paper, then take
turns paying each other with different amounts of currency which the cashier will then need to give
them change. The benefit about role playing is it can be all imaginary or done in the class with
few a materials, means that with some creativity the teacher can recreate any type of real life
experience the students may encounter. Some examples include buying a house, paying utilities,
buying a car, going to the

A getaway resort designed to be filled with excitement, adventure, and high luxury, the Omarama
Mountain Lodge is without a doubt, a very exclusive eco destination specifically catering to the
needs of the world s wealthiest people. Due to the chance meeting of a New Zealand Department
of Conservation investigator named Peter Slater and the son of a former Indonesian president, the
Omarama Mountain Lodge was conceptualized upon the realization that there was potential for a
specialty business that could meet the needs of the world s elite. By combining their knowledge
and experiences with wealthy travelers, these men were able to carry out such a business in New
Zealands South Island. As an eco destination for wealthy vacationers, the Omarama Mountain
Lodge promotes a vast array of outdoor activities. As a hunting retreat, the Omarama Mountain
Lodge made efficient use of its 28,000 hectares of original farmland, as the location was converted
into a big game reserve where deer, elk, and chamois can be hunted and released. In addition, the
case makes note that the Omarama Mountain Lodge also offers other alternatives for outdoor
leisure such as photographic safaris, horseback riding, golfing, nature walks, and helicopter tours.

Intercultural Communication Essay
Communication can be performed through the utilisation of languages, such as English. Presently,
English has become a favourable and prominent tool for interaction among people of different
cultural backgrounds. The high demand in acquiring English for fields such as international
politics, science and technology has led to the global spread of the language. Consequently, English
is recognised as an international language, and its ownership is considered to be denationalised and
renationalised. The understanding of this ownership status is crucial in establishing an effective
practice of intercultural communication, by acknowledging the variations of English and cultural
differences in communication styles within classroom and business contexts.
First, since English has become an international language, its ownership is regarded as
denationalised and renationalised. The concept of denationalisation proposed by Smith suggests
that English is no longer just owned by countries such as the United Kingdom and the United States,
but by various other countries around the world that also use the language. Kachru also argued that
a global English should not only be restricted to the official use by colonial countries of the United
Kingdom and the United States, and it is not a necessity to internalise the native speakers norms. It
is said that the process of denationalisation results in renationalisation, in which, according to
McKay, involves English localisation the

Catheter Associated Urinary Tract Infections
The purpose of this paper is to identify an issue identified by the National Council of State
Boards of Nursing NCLEX examination blueprint. The identified issue that I will be addressing
for this paper is catheter associated urinary tract infections and is under the category of safety and
infection control; according to (INSERT NCSBN CITATION) this issue falls under the overview
of safe and effective care for patients. The importance of addressing this issue is one that can
potentially aid in the patient having a higher satisfaction rate for the facility and the facility not
potentially having to pay for services not covered by insurance after the infection develops. ... Show

Taking a look at the patients that have increased rates tend to be of female gender due to the
shortened urethra which allows the bacteremia to travel at a shorter distance than that of males,
some of the other risk factors for higher catheter associated urinary tract infections include patients
that are of older age, prolonged catheterization and impaired immunity (Conway, Larson 2012).
With respect to cultural values that may affect this situation they are none that I could find
correlating with catheter associated hospital infections. Proposed Solution
Through extensive research into catheter associated urinary tract infections there are many different
approaches to reducing the modifiable risk factors and the incidence of catheter associated urinary
tract infections in the hospital setting that can be used in any unit to reduce the liability of catheter
associated urinary tract infections. According to (Gesmundo, 2016)) the prolonging of the catheter
removal is one of the major reasons for catheter associated urinary tract infections. When adopting
the principles of how to lower the rate the success begins at the time of admission and

What Is The Role Of Segregation In Public Education
When you look at Brown you are looking at a moment so powerful it is the equivalent of the Big
Bang in our solar system, says historian and commentator Juan Williams.
On May 17th, 1954, the unanimous Brown decision marks a significant day in American s history.
This momentous event culminated in the passage of the Civil Rights Movement into a full
revolution by focusing attention on the subjugation of blacks, fueling a wave of freedom rides,
voter registration efforts, and sit ins. However, while Brown had been unsuccessful in fully
desegregating public education between blacks and whites, it placed the Constitution in support of
racial equality, allowing for many more positive changes for African Americans.
Around 58 years before the verdict in Brown, America followed the Plessy Doctrine, a law stating

children. On the other hand, the board had argued that segregated schools followed the Plessy
doctrine and therefore, had been equal in all circumstances. They also outlined of the facilities in
both white and black schools as being equal, stating that the programs, even for the minority groups,
were better than the courses offered at the white schools. Attorneys for Topeka concluded their
argument with the statement stating that all things considered, discrimination by race did not harm

Differences in Ethical, Legal, and Regulatory Issues in Business to Business and Business to
Consumer Web Sites Like traditional brick and mortar establishments, business to business (B2B)
and business to consumer (B2C) Web sites face ethical, legal, and regulatory concerns. Although
both B2B and B2C sites share similarities in web based jurisdictional issues and general ethical
considerations, each site has its own specific concerns due to the end user relationship of the
consumer versus business (Schneider, 2004). Whether the end user is a business or consumer, there
is usually a transaction or sale of a particular product or service. Since the Internet launches online

The B2B environment might have concerns such as non disclosure agreements with vendors,
electronic copyright issues, and vendor agreements. Since the business might have a vendor in
another country, it would also be important for the business to be cognizant of international
business laws. Both businesses involved in the B2B relationship might also want to ensure that
business contract language establishes which laws will govern any issues concerning jurisdiction
in case of litigation. Schneider (2004) also notes that international business confuses the tax laws
for many organizations conducting business on the Web (p. 316). Unlike the B2B relationship,
B2C e tailers would not likely have concern regarding contracts as consumers purchase product
directly from a business. Many business Web sites contain information for consumers to peruse
such as privacy policy information, a disclaimer, or terms and conditions for using the site.
Privacy also falls under legal issues for the B2C relationship and, some countries are far more
restrictive than others in terms of what type of information collection is acceptable and legal
(Schneider, 2004, p. 316). Consumers enter credit card and other personal information through
electronic retail sites, so it is essential for the site to be secure. Other legal issues that might arise in
the B2C relationship include misrepresentation of company products or services. Regulatory

The Power of Music in James Baldwin s Sonny s Blues Essay
The Power of Music in James Baldwin s Sonny s Blues
At first glance, Sonny s Blues seems ambiguous about the relationship between music and drugs.
After all, the worlds of jazz and drug addiction are historically intertwined; it could be possible
that Sonny s passion for jazz is merely an excuse for his lifestyle and addiction, as the narrator
believes for a time. Or perhaps the world that Sonny has entered by becoming involved in jazz is
the danger if he had not encountered jazz he wouldn t have encountered drugs either. But the clues
given by the portrayals of music and what it does for other figures in the story demonstrate music s
beneficial nature; music and drugs are not interdependent for Sonny. By studying the ... Show more

The battered barmaid also needs music to insulate her from the perils of her life. She dances to
something black and bouncy playing on the jukebox, keeps time, smiling, and when she smiles
the reader can see both the innocent and joyous little girl she will always be and the woman still
struggling for life and dignity, even though these two personalities are hidden underneath the
face of a semi whore (412). She is quicksilver when the music plays; there is still life in her that
can be coaxed to the surface. She watches the jukebox in the pause between songs, waiting for the
music to begin again, to renew her life and energy and hope. Music reveals this woman as she
really is, not as she has become, not as her environment has made her. Just as it is for the whistling
schoolboy, music for this woman is a small salvation.
Many more moments like these are worked into the story. The mother hums a hymn under her
breath; it comforts her while she watches for Sonny, who is out on the streets (419). The narrator
whistles to keep from crying after Sonny refuses his attempts at reconciliation (428). These bits of
music are tiny but significant; small musics performed by non musicians demonstrate how music
creates good feelings. The mother may be singing off key and the narrator probably whistles flat,
but because of their nature as song these tunes are suffused with bits of happiness, and by making

Auckland, a highly populated city in New Zealand experiences traffic problems frequently. This
problems needs to be resolved through development of a road system that would tackle challenges
imposed by the population. Auckland Transport manages road projects in the city. One of the
projects in Auckland city that is underway by Auckland Transport (AT) is the upgrade of Dominion

earlier consultation undertaken by the Auckland City Council included loss of on street parking,

affected residents, and other key stakeholders from the government and the private sector. AT has

The Evergreen Marching Band And Colorguard
The Evergreen Marching Band and Colorguard (EMBC) has stewed in accomplishment, success,
and hard work, for more than two decades. People don t know, that we re not just a normal
halftime marching band we are a competitive marching band. Like any football, drill, or soccer
team, EMBC strives to compete amongst the greats. For a couple decades, EMBC has marched to
successand we don t want to stop now; however, the competitive program was close to being
slashed this year, due to lack of funds. Students and parents raged at the thought of no competitive
season. Competing is the best part for everyone in this program. If we lost that it wouldn t be as
much fun. We were so far in debt that if we couldn t raise enough money, it would ve been game
over.
If we had more money in our budget to do our competitive season, we would not have to say
goodbye to competing. The program receives a mere $1000, for the whole band program, as said
by the band director. That is not enough for our program. My school district needs to fund the
EMBC program separately from the regular band programs. I am not saying that their program isn t
as important, but we, the EMBC, require more funding for our award winning program. It is a
sport, and therefore merits the full funding like any other team. A way we can do that is by
moving around funding from teams who don t require as much and move it towards the ones that

A Common Problem Faced By Immigrants Essay
Recent happenings around the world have brought the subject of migration to the forefront of
everyday conversation. However, the migration phenomenon is not a new one but can be traced as
far back as human history itself. In some way, migration can be seen as an innate part of animal
behavior and the human experience. Historically, several push and pull factors have forced several
groups to move across the globe in the hopes of improving their situations. However, the
circumstances surrounding one s migration to a new place differs for each individual. Apart from
the political and economic strife of migration to a different country, immigrants and refugees are
left with the added struggle of maintaining their social identity, culture, and kinship when
acclimating to a new environment.
In order to properly explain this topic, I draw on the information from several articles, lectures,
films, and interviews I have conducted with close family and friends.
A common problem faced by immigrants is social identity. Social identity refers to the need to
identify as a member of a group and not merely as an individual. Man is a social being and being
able to identify with a group helps in giving a sense of belonging, developing self esteem and a
sense of pride. Social identity and sense of self are therefore important to an individual s well
being. As a member of a group, every individual performs the role(s) and expectations of that group.
However, intersectional identities exist

Gaming Communities And The Gaming Community
Title: Gaming communities Name: Subject Name: Instructor s Name: Date: Gaming community is
a type of community whose members have a common interest. Gaming community is contrary to
social communities where members may exhibit different interests. Over time, computer games
have grown contributing greatly to the growth of online gaming communities. In this regard, these
gaming communities may be divided into two; game specific community and general gaming
community (Ahmed, 2010). Game specific communities mainly focus on a particular single game.
Everything in this community is specific to that particular single game. Therefore, discussions in
these forums tend to be more specific and related to a particular game. On the other hand, general
gaming community encompasses various games in one forum. This type of the gaming community
tends to attract many members who can then engage on a general discussion on various games. In
this kind of communities, it is also common to find demo games presented before the real game is
played. With time passing on, the number of gaming community members is increasing throughout
the world (Herald, 2014). According to Victorian Casino and Gaming Authority (1997), this gaming
community operates on a number of ways. In every gaming community, there are three basic
features of a gaming community within which it derives its method of operation. They include
chats, forums and profiles. Just like any other software product. Before individuals

Buy s CEO Dick Schulze admitted in an article that sales are down due to the current state of the
economy: We had expected earnings to decline in a decelerating economy, Best Buy chief
executive Richard Schulze said in a statement. But, he added, I remain confident that we are on
track to deliver earnings growth of 16 to 18 percent this year, or $2.16 to $2.21 per share,
assuming no significant decline in the economy. В‘ this seems to be the case with most retail
chains but with the amount of expansion that Best Buy is working towards there is plenty of room
to make up for losses.
In terms of future directions the company is taking, in February of 2001, Best Buy embarked on its
most advantageous venture by the acquisition of the Musicland Corporation which owns stores
such as Sam Goody Music, Suncoast Video, and Media play. This acquisition will help to give
Best Buy the edge in the electronic and entertainment sales field. Best Buy obtained over 1300
stores from the Musicland Corporation. Richard Schulze s press release said it all when he

Blair House Internship
Although my four months interning at Blair House, the President s Guest House, was short, I
learned a great deal not only about collection management of a historical house, but also about the
history of an influential family and the history of diplomacy in the United States Government.
Previous to this internship, Blair House was not a place that I had any real knowledgeabout. My
limited wisdom came from a scene or two in a movie and television show. Learningso much about a
wonderful collection with so much historical value has been a once in a lifetime opportunity
Not only has this internship has been a life changing experience for me in my pursuit of a career in
collections management, but it has opened doors for me in the connections I made with the people
that work in the State Department. I was graciously welcomed into Blair House by people whose
passions align with mine. Being surrounded on a daily basis with a real sense of diplomacy and
history humbles most who walk through the house. The stories that are told on the curator led tours

Additionally, the fact that it is Blair House and there is some prestige in that title also helped me
make my decision in accepting the position. I know that connections could be made to help

field. Overall, my goals were to learn as much as possible about real life collections management,
to put what I have learn from class and textbooks into a real world setting, and making last

Of Mice And Men By George Orwell Analysis
As I was reading this story, I came to the realization that George Orwell childhood and young
adulthood very much mirrored my own youth. His habits were my habits, from making up stories,
to holding conversations with my imaginary friend. If I have learned anything from this story, is
that my strange eccentricities can be a wonderful diving board into fictionwriting.
I always imagine fiction writers had well tailored tweed suits or long flower skirts with various
colorful patterns that don t seem to go anywhere. Typing at their typewriting or computer with their
trusted dictionary and thesaurus right beside them. They have a PH.D in whatever is the most
expensive university at that time. His or her childhood was filled with intellectual parents

perhaps the best part about Destiny are the raids. Perhaps the most challenging activity known to

Greek Influence On Hollywood
The Paramount decision and the Hollywood black list forever altered the direction of American
film making standards. Before the Paramount decision, major Hollywood studios owned a
monopoly on the movie industry. They bought their own movie theaters and hawked only their
movies and also forced movie stars into highly restrictive contracts. The Hollywood blacklistk, on
the other hand, was a time in history when the American Government focused on Hollywood to
make sure they weren t pushing a communist agenda on the public. They scrutinized many actors
and directors and black listed them from working in Hollywood. These events made a large
change in the way movies were produced and made the people of Hollywood question their rights
as movie makers. The Paramount decision was a supreme court ruling in 1948 against the major film
studios in Hollywood. The studios were Loew s incorporated, Fox, RKO, Paramount Pictures,
and Warner Brothers, also called The big 5 . The court ruled for the elimination of block booking
and blind buying. Block booking meant that a studio would sell its films in packages on an all or

Essay On Martha Graham
Martha Graham: dancer, teacher, choreographer, mother of 20th century dance. Martha is
recognized as one of the greatest and most influential artists of the 20th century. Her dance
technique and style was constantly growing and expanding through experimentation of what the
body could do based on its own structure. I wanted to begin, she said, not with characters or ideas,
but with movement (World Biography). She believed that the purpose of dancewas to create an
increased awareness of life and a greater understanding of the nature of humans. By rejecting the
traditional steps of classical ballet and experiencing the art of dance from a unique perspective,

Not many years later, George Graham dies suddenly, leaving
Martha an open opportunity to enroll into a school of art.
From the years 1913 1916, Martha attended the Cumnock School of Expression, a junior college in
Santa Barbara where she would study academic and practical theater arts. This is where her dancing
experience would technically begin, as the students had interpretive dancing three times per week.
In 1916, Graham enrolled into the Ruth St. Denis and Ted Shawn
School of Dance in Los Angeles. The school taught ballet, ethnic dance, music, codified dramatic
gestures, makeup, lighting, costumes, dance history, Greek philosophy, and yoga and
meditation. At age 22, Martha had a late start for training, yet was still serious and intent on
becoming a prestigious dancer. Martha s body was very supple and strong and had the ability to
project most every dramatic movement. She had an extremely flexible body and was very small
yet often appeared to be taller. She was also very disciplined and precise. Ruth ultimately was
unimpressed by Graham s abilities, yet Shawn was drawn to her diligence and memory of the
steps and movements. Martha began performing in 1919 and was given her first leading role in the
piece Xochitl in 1920. Soon after Martha s success in this production, Louis Horst, a pianist for the
Denishawn Company, becomes her strong critic, influence, and mentor of hers. Graham leaves
Denishawn Studio in 1923 after producer/director John Murray

Scroll Of The Emperors Analysis
The Scroll of the Emperors by Yan Liben showed the great arts that flourished within China in
the Tang Dynasty period. This is the only remaining work known to be from this artist and the
first part of the scroll is now a copy for the first six groups of emperors. This work contains a lot
of space because of the specific way the emperors and the attendants are placed. Due to these
placements, the restrained postures and the view of an ordered lifestyle coming from the painting
shows Confucius beliefs. All the figures have traditional Han clothing; a standing emperor is
shown here to be more powerful than of sitting one. The reason for this is because standing you

Thirteen Colonies Benefits
Upon the discovery of new lands by the explorer Christopher Columbus nations raced in order to
claim lands for their countries . Settlements began to pop up all over the newly discovered land,
now known as the United States of America, with settlements belonging to France, Spain, and
England. While Spain and France had settlements they were outside of what is now America.
England on the other hand started the thirteen coloniesthat were the beginning of the United States

Roles Of Women In Roman Women
In my civilization of Rome, women in society have the duty of taking care of the home and
family. Love has almost nothing to do with a Roman marriage. It exists so that wives may
produce children to be heirs to their father s property. Every man wants a son to care for them in
old age and eventually take over the estate, since there are no retirement homes or pension plans.
Age fourteen is an average age for a young girl to get married. Women have weak judgment, so
they are prohibited from attending, speaking in, or voting at political assemblies. They also
cannot hold any governmental position. Egypt treats its women very differently in comparison
to my civilization. Egyptians believe that joy and happiness are legitimate goals of life and take
home and family very seriously. Women of Egypt are almost completely equal to men in regards
to the law. They can own property, borrow money, sign contracts, and initiate divorce. The men
and women here love children, and do not conceive children just to produce an heir to property.
We Romans have a practical attitude towards religion. The upper elite classes hold the priesthood
positions. There is no separation of church and state. We consider ourselves highly religious and
our practices and beliefs are our own. It is a part of our daily lives, and each home has a
household shrine in which families can pray to. We credit our religious customs to its founder
Numa Pompilius, the Sabine second second king of Rome. He negotiated

Throughout the play of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof various members of the family are at loggerheads.
However, this comes to a climax in this passage as Big Daddy s imminent death is confirmed

What Is Eve s Bayou Southern Gothic
Eve s Bayou (1997) is a drama set in Louisiana and follows the narrative of a young girl named
Eve Batiste (Jurnee Smollett Bell) who becomes aware of her father, Louis Batiste s (Samuel L.
Jackson) questionable actions and the toll it has on her entire family. The film is classified as a
Southern Gothic due to its dramatic, dark, and somewhat mysterious tone and inclusion of
supernatural elements. The supernatural aspect of Eve s Bayou is addressed through voodoo.
Southern films usually have a religious characteristic involved and in Eve s Bayou, voodoo is the

Another possible reason is because Eve is more pure since she is younger and she is named after
Eve, the person the bayou is named after. Besides the suspicious deaths, distorted truths, and
muddled visions, Eve s Bayou also inhibits discreet references to voodoo. African Holocaust
writes that: Music and dance are key elements to Voodoo ceremonies. Ceremonies were often
termed by whites Night Dancing or Voodoo Dancing . This dancing is not simply a prelude to
sexual frenzy, as it has often been portrayed. The dance is an expression of spirituality, of
connection with divinity and the spirit world ( Vodun: African Spiritual Religious Systems ).
As mentioned previously, Louis dances with Matty Mereaux and his daughter, Cisely, at the
beginning in the film. Louis definitely has a sexual affair with Matty and there is potential of
sexual tension between Louis and Cisely. As the website states, music and dancing in Voodoo is

Critical Cuistice Analysis, The Study Of Language
According to Hugh Trappes Lomax (2004), discourse analysis is the study of language that is
viewed communicatively or the study of communication that is viewed linguistically. Under the
discourse analysis, the analysts analyse the concepts of language in use, the language above or
beyond the sentence, language as meaning in interaction, and language in situational and cultural
context . By carrying out the discourse analysis, the analysts seek to explore the relation that exists
between the various elements that are present in the situation; such as the participants of the
conversation, the cultural backgrounds of the participants, the relationship between the participants,
the setting of the conversation/discourse, the situation and the linguistic choices that are made in
the process of the discourse (Dijk, 1995). Though discourse analysis cannot be tied down to a
single definition, some of the most prominent ones are as follows;

that institutions like schools act as gatekeepers of mastery of discursive resources: the discourses,

Wiser, By Reid Hastie
Wiser
Reid Hastie, in his book Wiser, discusses many of the common points of how groups succeed and
fail mainly due to group think. Throughout his years of research, he found a number of attributes
that effective teams have in common. From his book, we have extracted ten important lessons that
we believe are the most important for teams to learn and implement to be high performing. These
findings also relate to the 5 Dysfunctions of a Team that are outlined by Patrick Lencioni. Teachings
taken from Wiser are symptoms, or indicators, of dysfunctions within a team, and many of his
solutions help teams to overcome certain dysfunctions.
The first learning we took from the book is the cascading effect within teams. This effect is created

With such clear goals to reach, teams or individuals can create amazing results. Tournaments create
these results, because it focuses on the results and not the process. It spreads teams across the
company, or even the globe, making independent decisions from one another, and the teams do not
share their methods only the results. By not having every team deliberate with one another, each
individual team is able to come up with their solution and present it without having to get a group to
agree with them. With tournaments, cascades and polarization is not an issue, but information can
still be shared.
Another way to avoid issues within deliberating groups is through averages. Taking a statistical
average response or answer is better than a group deliberating on an issue. It takes the emotions
and flaws that comes from being human out of the equation and just focuses on logic. In most
groups taking the average might be the best way to go. When responses are taken without
deliberation, but statistics people are more inclined to vote based on what they know, and not on
the feelings or views of others. The average of these responses has been found to, in many cases, be
better than any individual.
A failure teams must be on the lookout for is hidden profiles. Hidden Profiles occur when common
knowledge information is more likely to be shared than information held by only a few people.
Common knowledge that the whole group knows carries much

Agent Orange Effects On Vietnam
Only you can prevent a forest.
It s a familiar phrase with a chilling alteration. This was the catchphrase of Operation Ranch Hand,
the nickname of the military mission to rain down 19 million pounds of herbicides over Southern
Vietnam between 1962 and 1971. 11 million pounds of these herbicides were Agent Orange, an
herbicide, named for the identifying orange stripe on its barrel, intended to devastate the dense

Argumentative Essay Outline Revision
Vagrants in the Netherworld: A Structural Explanation
I.Introduction
Thesis Statement: Homelessness stems from the structural forces rather than the individual
pathologies.
Road Map: 1) Argument: Vagrancy is a phenomenon that is insidiously entrenched in hierarchical

Professional Bodies Of The Electro Engineer Essay
Professional Bodies in Technology
Professional bodies are organizations that have members as individual professionals. To be a
member, the profession requires that the professionals to seek a license to practice for them to
carry out their jobs. In no lesser way, the professional body overseeing the Electro Engineering has
a number of roles.
Professional bodies within the field of electro technology are tasked with a generally oversight
role of the standards associated with the field. Most important of all is that the professional bodies
focus on advancing electro technology. In advancing technology, the professional bodies conduct
and sponsor exhibitions, symposia and technical meetings over New Zealand. Professional bodies
also offer graduates a chance to network with others within the same field. These networks are
used by professionals to meet and reflect upon their field of expertise. Alongside this function, the
professional bodies in electro technology accredit the stipulated courses under the entire field and
certify the professional competence of engineers. According to Robinson (2007), the professional
body publishes professional journals to further the field. As will be observed, the professional body,
under the compliance of the ethical code of conduct, deals with various complaints against
professionals and implements the disciplinary procedures accordingly. Having established this
mandate, it follows that they also issue a Code of Conduct to guide the

On June 14, 1787, The Second Continental Congress passed the Flag Resolution Act that states:

Chivalry Today Research Paper
Does Chivalry Live Today?
In current society people are becoming more impatient, disrespectful, and self centered. While this
self centered attitude may fulfill immediate needs, long term consequences of this lifestyle can
lead to the erosion of society. The problem is that younger generations are adopting this new
lifestyle where they become more selfish and rude. Thus, everyone around them becomes selfish,
and, as a result, society as a whole loses chivalry. Some people say chivalry is dead, however,
practicing chivalrous acts every day can help prevent this egocentrism and keep this quintessential
trait alive. There are many examples of how the lack of chivalry is eroding society. For example,
today there is a general accepted lack of respect today including race and authority figures. Lately
there has been an upsurge in violent crime towards authority. For example, the article,... Show more

million dollar arms appropriations bill. President Woodrow Wilsonannounced that the United States
of America was to be neutral for World War One, which started in 1914. The American population,

This was announced through several United States newspapers, some on the same page that
advertised the Lusitania trip. One of the United States trading partners at the time was Britain, and
the submarine warfare interfered with trade and caused tension to rise. German submarines were
known for watching ships movements, so the British Admiralty warned the Lusitania to be careful
in the area lined out by the unrestricted submarine warfare. They suggested that at minimum, the
liner should zigzag in order to confuse the Germans. May seventh, nineteen fifteen, the Lusitania is
sunk by a German Submarine, ending the lives of over one thousand three hundred passengers and
one hundred thirty Americans. The captain of the ocean liner had ignored the British Admiralty s
warnings and recommendations, leading up to the attack on the starboard side. The torpedo that hit
the Lusitania was followed by a larger explosion, assumed to be the ship s boilers. The ship sank
less than twenty minutes later near the sothern coast of Ireland. This was one of the main reasons
that the United States entered World War

Essay On Three Phase Induction Motor
Analysis of Dynamic Performance of Three Phase Induction Motor Using Matlab Simulation
Brahmananda Das Department of electrical engineering Koustuv group of institutions
Bhubaneswar dasbrahmananda1972@gmail.com Abstract: This paper investigates the dynamic
performance of three phase induction motor by vector control method. The vector control
algorithm is calculated on Motorola DSP56F80X. The block diagram is shown in figure which
describes the structure of implement vector control algorithm. The result obtained is verified
using matlab simulation. Initially speed reference is set at120 radian/s and torque taken as 0 nm.
Then motor is run, speed, torque and current wave form is taken. Now speed reference changes
to 160 radian/s and torque changes to 200nm and correspondence wave form is shown. I
observed that it run smoothly over the full speed range, generate full torque at zero speed, and
have high dynamic performance including fast acceleration and deceleration. It was originally
developed for high performance motor application for industrial drives. However, it is becoming
increasingly attractive for lower performance applications as well due to FOC s motor size, cost
and power consumption reduction superiority. .. In vector control method machine is control in a
synchronously rotating frame where as in sinusoidal machine variables appears as D.C. quantities.

Essay On Raiders Night
Long nights playing football
The book, Raiders Night by Robert Lipsyte was a very different book compared to other 9th
grade books. While you guys might feel that your gonna read how a guy gets a scholarship and
wins a championship but this book proves that not every sports book is the same. If you go to
the library, and pick any book off the shelf. I doubt you ll find one involving drugs and steroids.
At the same time it was a great book, I loved the intensity on how Matt has everything he needs
but now needs to learn how to put away his distractions and stay focused. For me it was very
easy to relate in life, I was never the big guy that everyone knew. I was just there for football
nothing else. I liked the book a lot because of its intensity, its interesting organization of the book,
and it s way how the formed the characters.
The raiders night was taken place in a town called Nearmont takes us through the eyes of a
football team and how flaws can make a team better than it already was. Matt an 18 year old is
starting his senior year of high school. He is the captain of the Raiders it seems as though he has

centered on post merger issues such as corporate culture issues, impending workforce retirements,
and a lack of systems or process consolidation. External opportunities include the potential to further
capitalize on incumbent status, diverse markets, long distance, and brand identity. Finally, external
threats include government regulation, substitution, and a weak economy.

Although Verizon has consolidated and standardized some of their processes, there is still a lot of

Opportunities
An external opportunity is a, ... major favorable situation in a firm s environment (Pearce Robinson,
2002). Verizon s opportunities include:
В§ Incumbent status In most areas, Verizon has been the incumbent local exchange carrier(ILEC)
for half a century. For decades, Verizon did not have to contend with competition of any kind. This
has given Verizon a solid foothold on the industry that new competitive local exchange carriers
(CLEC) must contend with.
В§ Diverse markets Telecommunications markets can local, regional, or global. Furthermore,
customer can include residential, business, and government markets.
В§ Long distance Due to regulatory restrictions, Verizon was once not allowed to offer long
distance services in the former Bell Atlantic territories. These restrictions have been eased and
Verizon has been approved to provide long distance in 11 of the 14 former Bell Atlantic states. The

Dopamine Hypothesis And Anti-Psychotic Analysis
In regard to proposals put forth to explain what dysfunctional mechanisms are causing
schizophrenia, the dopamine hypothesis has been one of the most prevailing. The earliest versions
of this hypothesis proposed that dopamine producing neurons in the brain were hyperactive
(Haracz, 1982). An updated hypothesis, version II, described which specific areas were producing
too much dopamine(Davis, 1991). Since that publication, thousands of other ideas have been put

that may cause children s social and emotional problems in the future (Marcon, 2002). More and

these gains can t maintain for the longer term. Even worse, any benefits of acceleration were shortly

concept, those pushed will let children losing interests in learning new things.
Beyond being fun for children, make believe play has been considered as a necessary early
childhood activity. During playing, kids pretend different roles, and they may need to incorporate
with others to imagine various circumstances and regulate themselves by following rules of the

Vygotsky viewed make believe play as a sole, broadly influential zone of proximal development
where children s learning takes place within. The make believe play makes kids trying out full

  • 2. Equine Nutrition Equine Nutrition The digestive system of the horse consists of a simple stomach, small intestines, cecum, large and small colons, rectum and anus. The horse s stomach is comparatively small for its size. The stomach of an average horse has a holding capacity of about two gallons. This may be the reason horses eat small but frequent meals. From the stomach food moves to the small intestine, which is the main site of digestion. The small intestine empties into the cecum. The cecum; along with the large colon; make up the large intestine. Digestion in the large intestine occurs by action of bacteria and protozoa. Thyroid glands can be enlarged (goiter) or normal. Rarely, foals are born hairless or may have ruptured extensor tendons and swollen joints. Iodine deficient newborns may be more prone to infections. Iodine deficient mares may or may not have goiter, a longer gestation and retained placentas. Iodine deficiency can be prevented by feeding iodized salt. Goiter is also a sign of too much iodine or iodine toxicity. (arg.gov.sk.ca) Copper has been promoted as a bone disease preventative as horses use copper in bone, cartilage, and pigment formation. Lack of iron can cause anemia but is maor likely to arise from blood loss due to internal parasites. Iron dextran used to treat baby pig anemia must not be given to horses since fatal, allergic reactions can occur. • 3. Business Ethics Essay (grapes Business Ethics Essay Business ethics are a moral code that people conducting any sort of business should feel honorably obligated to follow. People are definitely morally responsible to follow a code of ethics and should never cheat each other. Parts of this code of ethics should be honesty, integrity, fidelity, charity, responsibility, and self discipline. Those ethics should apply both to a person buying something, and a person selling something. I don t believe that a person should be forced to follow the caveat emptor policy, on the basis that it is unfair and unjust both to the buyer and seller. If you are an ethical person, you should not have to warn people to beware. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, they used to coerce women into liking specific cars, so the husband would have to feel forced to buy the car to impress their girlfriends/wives. Another example is how the car dealer used to put lousy parts into the cars and sell them, knowing that the car would break down 5 miles down the road. He took advantage of the people s necessity to get out of Oklahoma for his own personal gain. Also, the buyer has a certain responsibility too. They need to make sure to not completely trust the seller, because not everyone is ethical. They should examine the goods carefully, ask educated questions, and read up on the topic before going ahead and buying something. For example, in The Grapes of Wrath, the car dealer was able to take more advantage of the people because he can see the raw need on their faces, and how they didn t really ask anything to make him give them a better deal. Therefore, the people didn t do their part of being ethical buyers to get the best and most honest deal. The advertiser also has a big responsibility too, to be honest in the ads. For example, in The Grapes of Wrath, the car dealership advertised a nice car at a very cheap price, but they never sold that car. They lied to the people who wanted to buy that car, saying that it had just been sold. They took advantage of the people s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. How Oxford Has Coped with the Demands of Modern-Day Tourism We shall see in this essay how a city has coped with the many demands of modern day tourism and maintained its position as a Mecca for millions of travelers. Today s travel and tourism industry has grown into a global economic powerhouse whose combined direct and indirect impact on the world economy is enormous, according to the World Travel Tourism Council (WTTC). . ( Fuller,2014) Fodor s travel guide says Oxford has perhaps the most famous university in the world . Since Oxford University can traces it routes back to 1167 the city has been attracting people from across the globe for centuries. The history of the city, largely forged by the university, has led to the need for other inter related services notably in accommodation, transportation, travel organisations and the development of other destinations. Both public and private sectors have responded to the challenge. In the City of Oxford there are many examples of hospitality and tourism, as seen by the constant stream of visitors who crowd its streets at weekends throughout the year, striving to get the best view of the historic number of colleges protruding onto every street. This is Oxford s prize possession that sets it apart from other destinations in the UK and the world. However there are sub sectors that play a big part in Oxford. One of the largest examples is the popularity and growth of the accommodation sector, more specifically hotels. This essay will evaluate the Randolph Hotel in Oxford in ... • 5. Four Teaching Strategies That Increase Curiosity in Math... There are many strategies and techniques that could be used in the classroom to encourage curiosity in math, but the four I chose to discuss I thought would be the most beneficial. This is due to the way they support auditory, visual, and kinesthetic styles of learning. The four strategies teachers could use to encourage curiosity towards mathematics in a classroom include co operative learning, guided or discovery learning, simulate real life experiences, and active student learning. These four learning strategies range from group learning to the use of manipulatives to real life experiences and group discussions where students can share their ideas and thinking processes. Therefore, students would be able to learn in a variety of formats... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The purpose of creating real life experiences is to make math more relatable to students. It will also demonstrate how math is used in the community and in their lives on a daily basis. This will create more interest in math, since students will have a tangible sense of why math is needed. A good example of this strategy includes role playing or dramatic play. The goal is to create real life experiences in which students will need to use their math skills to solve every day problems. For instance, making play currency and having the students go to the market to buy produce is one experience that is a necessity in life. The teacher can have the students make a list, create a budget and have the students buy what they need within their budget. Then, they can pay a cashier and the cashier will then need to give back change. Given the age of the students, the teacher may not have a dramatic center, but can then have students work in pairs at their desks. For example, each student creates their shopping list and budget; buy their produce on paper, then take turns paying each other with different amounts of currency which the cashier will then need to give them change. The benefit about role playing is it can be all imaginary or done in the class with few a materials, means that with some creativity the teacher can recreate any type of real life experience the students may encounter. Some examples include buying a house, paying utilities, buying a car, going to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Intercultural Communication Essay Communication can be performed through the utilisation of languages, such as English. Presently, English has become a favourable and prominent tool for interaction among people of different cultural backgrounds. The high demand in acquiring English for fields such as international politics, science and technology has led to the global spread of the language. Consequently, English is recognised as an international language, and its ownership is considered to be denationalised and renationalised. The understanding of this ownership status is crucial in establishing an effective practice of intercultural communication, by acknowledging the variations of English and cultural differences in communication styles within classroom and business contexts. First, since English has become an international language, its ownership is regarded as denationalised and renationalised. The concept of denationalisation proposed by Smith suggests that English is no longer just owned by countries such as the United Kingdom and the United States, but by various other countries around the world that also use the language. Kachru also argued that a global English should not only be restricted to the official use by colonial countries of the United Kingdom and the United States, and it is not a necessity to internalise the native speakers norms. It is said that the process of denationalisation results in renationalisation, in which, according to McKay, involves English localisation the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. What Is The Role Of Segregation In Public Education When you look at Brown you are looking at a moment so powerful it is the equivalent of the Big Bang in our solar system, says historian and commentator Juan Williams. On May 17th, 1954, the unanimous Brown decision marks a significant day in American s history. This momentous event culminated in the passage of the Civil Rights Movement into a full revolution by focusing attention on the subjugation of blacks, fueling a wave of freedom rides, voter registration efforts, and sit ins. However, while Brown had been unsuccessful in fully desegregating public education between blacks and whites, it placed the Constitution in support of racial equality, allowing for many more positive changes for African Americans. Since the business might have a vendor in another country, it would also be important for the business to be cognizant of international business laws. Both businesses involved in the B2B relationship might also want to ensure that business contract language establishes which laws will govern any issues concerning jurisdiction in case of litigation. Schneider (2004) also notes that international business confuses the tax laws for many organizations conducting business on the Web (p. 316). Unlike the B2B relationship, B2C e tailers would not likely have concern regarding contracts as consumers purchase product directly from a business. Many business Web sites contain information for consumers to peruse such as privacy policy information, a disclaimer, or terms and conditions for using the site. Privacy also falls under legal issues for the B2C relationship and, some countries are far more restrictive than others in terms of what type of information collection is acceptable and legal (Schneider, 2004, p. 316). Consumers enter credit card and other personal information through electronic retail sites, so it is essential for the site to be secure. • 12. The Power of Music in James Baldwin s Sonny s Blues Essay The Power of Music in James Baldwin s Sonny s Blues At first glance, Sonny s Blues seems ambiguous about the relationship between music and drugs. After all, the worlds of jazz and drug addiction are historically intertwined; it could be possible that Sonny s passion for jazz is merely an excuse for his lifestyle and addiction, as the narrator believes for a time. Or perhaps the world that Sonny has entered by becoming involved in jazz is the danger if he had not encountered jazz he wouldn t have encountered drugs either. But the clues given by the portrayals of music and what it does for other figures in the story demonstrate music s beneficial nature; music and drugs are not interdependent for Sonny. She dances to something black and bouncy playing on the jukebox, keeps time, smiling, and when she smiles the reader can see both the innocent and joyous little girl she will always be and the woman still struggling for life and dignity, even though these two personalities are hidden underneath the face of a semi whore (412). She is quicksilver when the music plays; there is still life in her that can be coaxed to the surface. She watches the jukebox in the pause between songs, waiting for the music to begin again, to renew her life and energy and hope. Music reveals this woman as she really is, not as she has become, not as her environment has made her. Just as it is for the whistling schoolboy, music for this woman is a small salvation. Many more moments like these are worked into the story. The mother hums a hymn under her breath; it comforts her while she watches for Sonny, who is out on the streets (419). The narrator whistles to keep from crying after Sonny refuses his attempts at reconciliation (428). These bits of music are tiny but significant; small musics performed by non musicians demonstrate how music creates good feelings. The mother may be singing off key and the narrator probably whistles flat, but because of their nature as song these tunes are suffused with bits of happiness, and by making the music, the ... Many global managers will eventually find themselves living and working in cultures altogether different from their own. Many entrepreneurs will find themselves booking flights to places they had never heard of. What do you think companies can do now to prepare their managers for these new markets? What can entrepreneurs and small businesses with limited resources do? People don t know, that we re not just a normal halftime marching band we are a competitive marching band. Like any football, drill, or soccer team, EMBC strives to compete amongst the greats. For a couple decades, EMBC has marched to successand we don t want to stop now; however, the competitive program was close to being slashed this year, due to lack of funds. Students and parents raged at the thought of no competitive season. Competing is the best part for everyone in this program. If we lost that it wouldn t be as much fun. We were so far in debt that if we couldn t raise enough money, it would ve been game over. If we had more money in our budget to do our competitive season, we would not have to say goodbye to competing. The program receives a mere $1000, for the whole band program, as said by the band director. That is not enough for our program. My school district needs to fund the EMBC program separately from the regular band programs. I am not saying that their program isn t as important, but we, the EMBC, require more funding for our award winning program. It is a sport, and therefore merits the full funding like any other team. • 17. A Common Problem Faced By Immigrants Essay Recent happenings around the world have brought the subject of migration to the forefront of everyday conversation. However, the migration phenomenon is not a new one but can be traced as far back as human history itself. In some way, migration can be seen as an innate part of animal behavior and the human experience. Historically, several push and pull factors have forced several groups to move across the globe in the hopes of improving their situations. However, the circumstances surrounding one s migration to a new place differs for each individual. Apart from the political and economic strife of migration to a different country, immigrants and refugees are left with the added struggle of maintaining their social identity, culture, and kinship when acclimating to a new environment. In order to properly explain this topic, I draw on the information from several articles, lectures, films, and interviews I have conducted with close family and friends. A common problem faced by immigrants is social identity. Social identity refers to the need to identify as a member of a group and not merely as an individual. Man is a social being and being able to identify with a group helps in giving a sense of belonging, developing self esteem and a sense of pride. Social identity and sense of self are therefore important to an individual s well being. As a member of a group, every individual performs the role(s) and expectations of that group. However, intersectional identities exist ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Gaming community is contrary to social communities where members may exhibit different interests. Over time, computer games have grown contributing greatly to the growth of online gaming communities. In this regard, these gaming communities may be divided into two; game specific community and general gaming community (Ahmed, 2010). Game specific communities mainly focus on a particular single game. Everything in this community is specific to that particular single game. Therefore, discussions in these forums tend to be more specific and related to a particular game. On the other hand, general gaming community encompasses various games in one forum. This type of the gaming community tends to attract many members who can then engage on a general discussion on various games. In this kind of communities, it is also common to find demo games presented before the real game is played. With time passing on, the number of gaming community members is increasing throughout the world (Herald, 2014). According to Victorian Casino and Gaming Authority (1997), this gaming community operates on a number of ways. In every gaming community, there are three basic features of a gaming community within which it derives its method of operation. They include chats, forums and profiles. • 32. Roles Of Women In Roman Women In my civilization of Rome, women in society have the duty of taking care of the home and family. Love has almost nothing to do with a Roman marriage. It exists so that wives may produce children to be heirs to their father s property. Every man wants a son to care for them in old age and eventually take over the estate, since there are no retirement homes or pension plans. Age fourteen is an average age for a young girl to get married. Women have weak judgment, so they are prohibited from attending, speaking in, or voting at political assemblies. They also cannot hold any governmental position. Egypt treats its women very differently in comparison to my civilization. Egyptians believe that joy and happiness are legitimate goals of life and take home and family very seriously. Women of Egypt are almost completely equal to men in regards to the law. They can own property, borrow money, sign contracts, and initiate divorce. The men and women here love children, and do not conceive children just to produce an heir to property. We Romans have a practical attitude towards religion. The upper elite classes hold the priesthood positions. There is no separation of church and state. We consider ourselves highly religious and our practices and beliefs are our own. It is a part of our daily lives, and each home has a household shrine in which families can pray to. These findings also relate to the 5 Dysfunctions of a Team that are outlined by Patrick Lencioni. With such clear goals to reach, teams or individuals can create amazing results. Tournaments create these results, because it focuses on the results and not the process. It spreads teams across the company, or even the globe, making independent decisions from one another, and the teams do not share their methods only the results. By not having every team deliberate with one another, each individual team is able to come up with their solution and present it without having to get a group to agree with them. With tournaments, cascades and polarization is not an issue, but information can still be shared. Another way to avoid issues within deliberating groups is through averages. Taking a statistical average response or answer is better than a group deliberating on an issue. It takes the emotions and flaws that comes from being human out of the equation and just focuses on logic. In most groups taking the average might be the best way to go. When responses are taken without deliberation, but statistics people are more inclined to vote based on what they know, and not on the feelings or views of others.
