The Bells By Edgar Allan Poe
The main idea of The Bells written by Edgar Allan Poe is connecting the different rings bells have
with the moods they give off. The Bells actually has several themes, happiness, celebration, terror, and
a mix of them all. The first stanza talks about the joy of bells, the second talks about the celebration of
wedding bells, the third is about alarming bells, and the fourths is about the different stages of bells
combined. The mood of the poem quickly changes from cheerful and lighthearted to horrifying and
deep. First off, each stanza starts with an opening statement and then with either the words Silver,
Golden, Brazen, or Iron Bells. Silver is something precious whereas iron can be represented as
something worthy of mocking or unpleasant.

How Did The Economy Affect The Mexican Economy
Decades later, another series of events led to a new wave of feminists. In the 1970 s, Mexico became
one of the world s largest oil suppliers to the world market. International bankers made loans to
Mexico, who promptly accepted them, but sooner than later the interest rates and debt rose to an
uncontrollable point. Intending to boost the country s economy, the Lopez Portillo administration
spent vast amounts of public spending on electricity generation, construction, the mining industry, and
manufacturing. However, the country s debt rose due to the US and other countries taking advantage
of their large amounts of oil. The world oil market collapsed, and with it, the Mexican economy. In
addition, an earthquake in 1985 killed almost ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since husbands were away, the mothers became the heads of the family. Despite earning less than their
male counterparts, women tended to invest their money in the needs of the household, rather than
spending money for their own use. Without the male presence in the home, the families tended to be
smaller, and the family income was distributed to fewer members. Therefore their family per capita
was greater than when the men were in charge. The economic crisis of the 1980 s caused great harm to
the Mexican economy, but had lasting beneficiary effects on gender equality.
Because many men often migrated to other parts of the country or bordering countries to find better
work, the women were forced to join the workforce. Families assimilated to the lack of presence of
women at home, generating creative strategies to continue on. 70% of households bought less food,
clothing, shoes, etc. and spent less on transportation and food than prior to the economic crisis. There
was a dramatic increase of women aged twenty to twenty four in the workforce, rising by ten percent
since prior to the crisis. However, some social customs still remained. While the men still in charge of
families were able to eat the more expensive foods such as meat and eggs, female heads of the family
ate less hearty, unhealthy food, which mainly consisted of beans, tortillas, fruits and

Npm And Performance Management Related Literatures
CHAPTER 2
LITERATURE REVIEW
The NPM Model has focused on delivering market inspired results and was primarily concerned with
efficiency and performance. (Jarrar and Schiuma, 2007)
2.1. INTRODUCTION
Efficiency and performance become two key words for the reform that held by countries in the world.
Started in the developed countries, namely United Kingdom and United States under their leader,
Margaret Thatcher and Ronald Reagan era, this doctrine then spread to Australia, New Zealand,
Europe, Africa, Latin America and Asia. NPM spread and breadth expand globally.
Inevitably, this so called doctrine or paradigm is delivering market based which one s country like or
dislike diffuse theirs governance in order to well implement it. This movement also inevitably
followed as one of the pressure of country s exogenous factors.
The main purpose of this Chapter is to address NPM and Performance Management related literatures.
First, the definition of NPM, its objectives and characteristic is clarified in Section 2.2.1. Section 2.3
expands on the explanation of NPM in developing countries. The Chapter progresses with elaborating
Performance Management themes in Section 2.4 encompassing definition, essences and challenges,
before concluding in Section 2.5.
2.2. NPM AND PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT ISSUE
This section pertains NPM and performance management issues, NPM definition, objectives and
elements; how the performance management as main elements of NPM, relevancies of

America s Tax Policy Is Not Appropriate For The United...
A very controversial topic in today s society is America s tax policy. Currently, there is three different
solutions to the current tax system. One is lowering the rate for progressive tax, our current tax
system, which is progressively higher tax rate with more income. The second is fair tax, which is
where people are only taxed for buying goods, not their income. The most suitable solution, is where
everyone is treated fairly and must pay the same percentage of tax; this is known as flat tax. Our
current tax policy is not appropriate for the United States of America.
The current tax system is named progressive tax. Progressive tax is established off the people who
make more money pay more in taxes while the people who make less money pay less in taxes. This
system does not fit in well with today s society because the more compensated are charged much more
than the less compensated, the top 1% of taxpayers have consistently paid more in federal income
taxes than the bottom 90% since 2003 and that share has increased almost every year since 1980
(Phillips). Having the top 1% of taxpayers pay more than the super majority of the country is
extraordinarily unfair to the 1%. A main principle of the United States is equality, so the tax policy
should be more equal. With flat tax enacted every person would be paying the identical percentage of
tax. With this in mind, it is not exactly equal, but very close. On the flip side, it does give the lower
income people a break while

Richard Brannon Generative Reasoning Perspective
This essay, in part, is set out to investigate how, and to what extent Richard Branson s strategic
methods relates to De Wit and Meyer s (2004) description of generative reasoning perspective and
rational reasoning perspective. An analysis based comparison between generative reasoning
perspective and rational reasoning perspective will present arguments on how the methodologies
between the two types of strategic thinking perspectives fuels the debate over which approach to
strategy may not only more effective, but also correlates to Branson s own strategic thinking method.
Secondly, a discussion on whether Richard Branson is a characteristic design thinker as described by
Liedtka will be put forth as well as an examination as to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is further argued by advocates of RRP that such reasoning strongly resembles the problem solving
approach of chess grand masters (Simon, 1987). This argument opens up certain views that RRP
revolves around a central theme that when dealing with strategic thinking, deductive and inductive
logic is commonly used.
Yet again with the use of Table 1 (Appendix 1), characteristics on RRP can be recognized. With this
information, we can start to identify to what extent Branson fits in with the RRP model. Arguably,
RRP is seen as more of a figurative way of thinking whereby decisions are based primarily on factual
information. With this understanding, Branson periodically demonstrates a RRP way of strategizing on
how he performs business.
The first clear example of Branson using the RRP is shown in the case study whereby he uses factual
based reasoning in regards to his efforts of expanding the product line of his company to different
areas in the market. Branson used analytical data stating that 96 percent of the United Kingdom
recognized the Virgin logo. Branson used the Virgin logo to help diversify into other currently
booming industries around the United Kingdom and other parts of the world (i.e. book publishing,
computer game development, soft drink manufacturing, cinemas and even financial services).
Arguably Branson would not have endeavored into this mode of expansion so quickly if he had not
known the statistical backing that

Inspiration
If there is someone that has impacted an individual s life, then suddenly they pass away out of the
blue, it can do an immense amount of damage to ones thoughts and feelings. In the song One Man Can
Change The World by Big Sean featuring John Legend and Kanye West it talks about Big Sean s
grandma impact on his life and everything she did for him and his family as a whole. The artist big
Sean otherwise known as Sean Anderson was born in Santa Monica, California but was raised in
Detroit, Michigan. He was born on the west side of Detroit which can be very hard growing up on a
child. There was a lot of gang violence and the city was so in debt that they couldn t fund anything ...

The speaker in this song is anyone that experienced a tough loss. Big Sean was very close with his
grandmother, she taught him how to drive and be a man. ... She taught me how to drive and she raised
the kids, then the kids kids, and she did it right taught me how to love, taught me not to cry (Sean 52
54). In this line he states that she taught him how to be a man and took care of him growing up,
keeping him on the right track and staying out of trouble. Big Sean also used a lot of imagery in his
song. Talking about his grandmas achievements he states ...But how am I supposed to say I m tired if
that girl from West Virginia came up in conditions that I couldn t survive; went to war, came back
alive? On top of that became a female black captain when being black you had to extra extra try (Sean
45 49). Big Sean was very proud of his grandma because she became a female black captain back
when females were just being allowed in the military and there was still a very serious racism
problem. In his lyrics you can see the struggle to get what she accomplished in the times that she did
it. As the reader may now see how close Sean and his grandmother were together realize how tough of
a loss it was and how people can

The Anglo-Saxon Religion
The early religion of the Anglo Saxons involved worshipping gods of nature and took materials of
nature like rocks, trees, etc as very important. They didn t use religion for spiritual reasons but rather
for a way to get material things. For instance, they would pray to a certain goddess to ensure a good
yield in harvest. The Anglo Saxon gods include Tiw, Woden(Oden), Thor, and Friya. The days of our
week is named after these gods. The society of the Anglo Saxon was divided into different classes.
The king would be at the top of the social class, then it would be the upper class thanes and the lower
class ceorls, and then the slaves. The king would act as the war leader of the society. He was expected

Essay about Scotch-Irish Cultural History
1. The Scotch Irish were staunch libertarians, and acted upon their feelings. Sex ways and dress ways
had close ties to each other in the backcountry. To talk about sex and sexual behavior was also
acceptable in this culture. The dress women and men wore was meant to arouse the opposite sex.
Anglican missionary Charles Woodmason wrote, They draw their shift as tight as possible round their
Breasts, and slender waists (for they are generally very finely shaped) and draw their Petticoat close t
their Hips to show the fineness of their limbs ... indeed nakedness is not censurable without ceremony.
Woodmason was appalled at how these women carried themselves, but to the women, they were sexy.
Men even dressed in ways to show off ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In contrast to boys, girls were taught to be self denying, and to be helpers to men. Corporal
Punishment of children was even condemned even though practiced in the home. Even though there
were many questions to be asked before some could marry, Quakers did believe in love before
marriage. They believed that love should be pure and not tainted by the craving of flesh. To marry,
couples needed permission from their families and community. Unlike in Virginia, Quakers forbade
first cousin marriages, and discouraged marriages between second cousins. In Quaker households, it
was more of a partnership between the husband and wife than in those of Massachusetts and Virginia.
In the Delaware Valley children spoke of their father and mother s house.
The Quakers had a saying: In souls there is no sex. This meant in their culture, men and women were
equal. Unlike Puritan culture, women could preach to men and women, and in a public setting. That
same quote went for sexual relations in marriages. Sex in Quaker culture was looked upon as just for
the purpose of conception of children. To do otherwise was looked at as fornication. To have sex just
for pleasure was also fornication. Even married couples would restrain from having sex with each
other if the woman was not in time to get pregnant. Married couple also occupied not only single beds
but slept in separate rooms. Quakers

Jnc s Six Subsections
The following section is broken into six subsections that will assess how each topic relates to JNC 6,
7, and 8. The subsections are organized into the following: algorithms, classification of hypertension,
lifestyle modifications, pharmacological treatment, and management of care. It is important to note
that JNC 6 and 7 have a greater correlation in format and the types of recommendations presented to
clinicians. Contrastingly JNC 8 varies in format, as well as the type of recommendations presented to
clinicians, therefore each of the subsections may not contain information on JNC 8.
Algorithms:

lifestyle interventions should be continued throughout management. Goal blood pressures are
separated by age and presence of chronic disease. The goal for patients over 60 is SBP 150 mmHg and
DBP 90 mmHg. The goal for patients under 60 is 140 mmHg and DBP 90 mmHg. Different goal
values are presented for patients with chronic conditions. Treatment with medication is categorized
by: general population nonblack, general population black, chronic conditions black, and chronic
condition all races. Based on the algorithm black patients should only be prescribed thiazide type
diuretics and/or calcium channel blockers. While non black patients can take all of the medications
listed in JNC 8 (thiazide type diuretics, ACEI, ARB, and/or CCB). If patient does not reach goal blood
pressure then three strategies are listed, along with lifestyle adherence. The algorithm also explains not
to use ACEI and ARB together. The final option for patients not at goal blood pressure includes
additional medications and/or referral to physician with an expertise in hypertension

The Large Bathers Analysis
As a 19th century painter, Paul Cézanne was known to be one of the greatest Post Impressionist artist
(Bauer, 2016). The skills that Cézanne implemented in his art work include using a vivid pallet and
sensitive brushstrokes. By using these techniques, it makes the painting look more radiant and
complex. The Large Bathers is known to be part of a series called The Bathers, and they are displayed
in different museums such as London and Philadelphia. The Bathers is considered to be one of the
masterpieces of modern art and his finest art (Bauer, 2016). By examining his paintings, Cézanne

cloudy affect, while also using a yellow and gold tone to have some source of light. The tone of each

calm and collected. This analysis is based off of just the colors of the painting. It is difficult to tell
when you are looking at it from a virtual perspective. Being physically there and seeing it in person
would give the painting a slightly different feeling. Imagining the painting in real life, I could sense
the mood to be very symbolic or mystical. It gives a sense of classical myths and history. The painting
would stand out more and the colors would be more noticeable to analyze. Through the physical
aspect, I could imagine the brush strokes to be obvious but smooth at the same time. Paul Cézanne
was known to use obvious brush stroke, as it gives his work an unfinished quality. Through pictures,
you cannot tell whether he uses that technique. It looks very clean and sharp through the online
picture. Overall, through virtual or a physical perspective, the painting gives a harmonized and

Persuasive Essay On Eugenics
A lot of people have not heard of Eugenics because of the dark past in the history of not only the
United States but also across Europe. What does it mean to have a perfect world? Back in the 1920s
they had an idea to create a world that only included a certain idea of whom the best type of people
were. This may sound like an interesting idea but the price of our own human decency was taken in
which human life did not mean the same for everyone. Most people are unaware of what Eugenics is
because it is not a proud point in the United States, so it does not get taught or talked about very often.
Eugenics started in the late 1800 s. A man named, Sir Francis Galton was the first person to use the
word eugenics. The word eugenics means, the science of improving a human population by controlled
breeding to increase the occurrence of desirable heritable characteristics. (Eugenics) For a while
Eugenics was just an idea of how to perfect the human population. The ideas were put into books and
then analyzed scientifically, but in a way that was biased and unreliable. The Supreme Court put a law
in place called, Buck V. Bell, which supported the obligatory sterilization of people that would be seen
as unfit in our society. This law was put in place in the year of 1927 and was reprimanded in 1942.
Although in some places it still goes on today illegally. The science of Eugenics was not based on
personality but rather on physical and mental traits.
They made assumptions rather

Chapter 7 Of Outliers By Gwen Gladwell
Gladwell begins the chapter by narrating the crash of Korean Air flight 80. The plane was in good
condition and so was the weather; but tragedy ends up slamming into the side of a mountain. Gladwell
explains that plane crashes are rare, and in Chapter 7 of Outliers, he wants the reader to know how and
why these pilots have been failing to land planes. Consequently, Gladwell begins to explain how
Korean Air turned itself around, and he discusses how important it is to address cultural differences
and legacies. Crashes are rare, and most of the time are consequences of many unrelated factors. Many
believe that airplane crashes are the cause of bad piloting or harsh weather; but other factors are
overlooked. Suren Ratwatte have been studying airplane

Island Biogeography Paper
The purpose of island biogeography is to help take a closer look at the speciation of animals on
mainland landscapes, and compare them to surrounding islands that separated from the mainland. In
this study, the focus is on avian birds and the differences in landscape make up that can influence
speciation. The differences can possibly lead to populations of different species settling apart from one
another, maybe leading to the extinction of one species and the thriving of another. Although island
geography has been a useful tool, it has also been questioned, leading to a new tool: countryside
biogeography. In Wolfe et al. (2015) it is explained how countryside geography is a tool that can be

Effects Of Economic Growth On Society
1. INTRODUCTION 1.1 BACKGROUND The harmful effects and environmental problems resulting
from impact of economic growth have increased concerns of environmentalists, shareholders,
governmental bodies and society about environmental issues. Pressures from a variety of sources have
come to bear on the companies to accept responsibility for impacts on society from business activities
(Hackston and Milne, 1996). Companies are being urged to become accountable to a wider audience
than shareholder and creditor groups (Hackston and Milne, 1996). Financial objectives are no longer
the only important variables to firms; in addition to the owners economic aims, the interests of
employees, customers and the public at large have increasingly been recognized over the years (Kolk,
1999). As indicated by Kolk (1999), the notion of stakeholders has emerged to complement the
concept of shareholders . Due to these developments, companies have been attempting to seriously
take into account their environmental and social impacts and to provide information about their
environmental performance (Unerman et al., 2014; Dixon et al., 2005; Monteiro Guzmán, 2010).
Many companies have developed environmental management systems and increasingly adopted
environmental reporting within the annual report (Deegan and Gordon, 1996; Gray et al., 1995a;
Guthrie and Parker, 1990). Dixon et al. (2005) argue that the main reasons for the development of
environmental disclosure are the increase of

Age discrimination laws are enforced by Civil Rights Center and the Equal Employment Opportunity
Commission (EEOC). The Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967 and The Age
Discrimination Act of 1975 are laws that govern age discrimination.
The Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967 Congress found that older workers were finding
themselves disadvantaged in retaining jobs; in many cases companies were setting age limits
regardless of the person s ability to work. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC)
provides information concerning the needs and abilities of older workers. These studies found that
long term unemployment in seniors often results in deterioration of morale and skill. The EEOC
sponsors and assist State and community informational and educational programs. The ADEA
prohibits arbitrary age discrimination by employers whom work with businesses and workers alike to
solve problems that arise (The Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967).
There are strict prohibitions of age discrimination.
An employer cannot refuse to hire or discharge an employee due to age. Employers cannot deprive
any individual of employment because of their age. It is unlawful to reduce the wage rate because of
age. Employment agencies cannot withhold

Gun Ownership In Early America Summary
In the article Gun Ownership in Early America: A Survey of Manuscript Militia Returns by Robert
Churchill, he discusses how gun ownership in the early 18th and 19th centuries was scarce and at
times the armed militias were the only people who had guns at all. It was because of this that the
government made gun ownership exceptional. This is different from today when gun ownership is
everywhere. Due to the high concentration of guns sometimes it is hard to count how many are sold in
the United States every year. To learn that guns, at one time, were almost non existent is almost hard
to believe. In the article, the author talks about Michael Bellesiles a historian who first wrote on gun
ownership in America in 1996. Bellesiles was the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unlike the 18th and 19th centuries, the government today is much against gun ownership. So much so
that they have enacted gun control laws that would take all guns away from American citizens.
Though guns can be dangerous in the wrong hands, Americans have the right to bear arms. To take
gun ownership away would mean destroying the Constitutional right of every American. Instead of
gun control everyone that buys a gun they should undergo an intense back ground check and be
required to attend gun ownership classes to learn how to safely use the weapon. In the article it is
stated that most guns in the 18th and 19th centuries were owned by younger men and boys. This
would suggest that younger men in those centuries were more mature than those of today. Back then
people had to fend for themselves because money was not as prevalent as it is today, so owning a gun
was more of a necessity. Now when younger people possess a fire arm the outcome is more violent.
The damage inflicted by young people with guns in the last decade has been some of the worst
America has ever witnessed. The Sandy Hook shooting being the most recent string of school related
gun violence. In the 18th and 19th centuries, this type of behavior was never recorded, but the
population was sparser and children then did not have violent videogames, TV

Leadership And Effective Leadership For Learning
Schools must meet the challenges of a changing educational climate and effective leadership is crucial
in helping to guide the whole school community through the potentially treacherous waters of change.
This assignment will delve into the complexity of leadership and will emphasize that whilst leaders
can attempt to create conditions to help schools improve, they are not solely responsible for the
outcome of the education process. Fullan (2001) posits that effective school leadership has the ability
to manage educational change by building strong relationships and establishing a moral purpose.
Therefore, the school leader has the orchestral role of subtly creating the conditions necessary for
pupils and staff to thrive. This assignment will focus primarily on three of the preconditions for
effective Leadership for Learning, mentioned with the assignment title: the role of shared leadership,
explicit conversations and the creation of settings, mindsets, and strategies conducive to learning. The
writer feels, that effective leaders can transform the idea of mutual accountability into moral
accountability . Therefore this section can be interwoven within each of these three strands of
Leadership for Learning mentioned; in a sense mutual or moral accountability could be interpreted as
a by product of effective leadership.

The Wife s Lament
The two poems known as The Wife s Lament and The Lament of the Old Woman of Beare have
numerous similar qualities even though they both come from different people. The Wife s Lament is
an Old English poem that is exceptionally heavy with emotional content; it is a monologue from the
perspective of a sorrowful woman who appears to be undergoing significant sorrows due to separation
from her husband, most likely the result of exile. The other poem, The Lament of the Old Woman of
Beare, is an Irish poem with a first person narrator with the voice of a woman that discusses the
lamenting of old age. These are the rudimentary plots of the two poems, leading to the similarities that
these pieces of literature share, namely the theme of sorrows

Native Americans Of North Carolina Essay
American Indians had been living in North Carolina for at least 9,500 years before European explorers
first encountered them in the 1520 s. For the past several decades an increasing number of Americans
have been identifying as American Indians. For centuries before European contact, these native people
lived in harmony with the natural environment, taking no more from the land than they needed to
survive. Of all the states in the Union, North Carolina has witnessed the largest increase in Native
American population during the past 100 years, based upon official government census documents.

counties where the Haliwa Saponi live today. In 1957, the Haliwa Saponi established the only tribal
school recognized by North Carolina at the time. Today, the school building houses the Haliwa Saponi
Tribal Charter School. The tribe s home base is in Hollister, NC. The tribe is under the leadership of a

colonists began to think of themselves as Americans. At that time, The British government felt that the
colonies had become quite independence, and they wanted their colonies to start paying tax in order to
help England pay the national debt. Not only were Americans forced to pay direct taxes, but they were
also obliged to involve in strict regulatory acts such as Sugar Act and Currency Act. Sugar Act (1764)
strongly affected American s trading in which their oceanic vessels and cargos could be inspected by
the British Navy and might be confiscated if the paper and the goods that being transported were in
disagreement. Currency Act (1764) restricted colonial governments to print their own paper money.
These two acts put some colonists in anger but they were not enough to result in civil disorder until
the Stamp Act was passed. The reason that the colonists resisted government authority with the
passage of the Stamp Act (1765) was because the Stamp Act collected taxes in all type of papers
including newspapers, playing cards, licenses, and stamps. This outraged many colonists especially

Symbolic Interactionism, Functional Analysis, And Conflict...
Modern sociology is characterized by three main theoretical approaches: symbolic interactionism,
functional analysis, and conflict theory. Personally, I believe that symbolic interactionism is the most
logically viable approach to understanding modern society due to its understanding of the meaning
people ascribe to everyday concepts. As a theory, functionalism fails to mention those who either
deviate from the whole or work against society. Concerning Marx s conflict theory, for now, the time
of competing for scarcities has ebbed; there are other, more pressing factors driving society today such
as family and an individual s aspirations. Nevertheless, symbolic interactionism is not without its
faults; the very fact that symbols differ in meaning ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Firstly, most people are unaware they are partially motivated by their awareness of symbols. Thus,
symbolic interactionism can t fully explain an individual s actions because they aren t consciously
making the decision based on their understanding of symbols and labels. Secondly, symbolism can be
harmful to society. Consider the difference of respect given to a businessman in a suit versus a
homeless veteran with a drug addiction; the symbols of wealth and poverty play a notable roll in the
way humanity treats each other. Lastly, symbols change over time. A perfect example is the field of
technology: years ago, it was viewed as mysterious and complex while today, technology is something
to be mastered. Programmers, scientists, and cyber hackers alike all quest to gain the upper hand in

North Mississippi Hill Country Picnic
I grew up in a small, rural town in Potts Camp, Mississippi, which is about forty five minutes from
Oxford, Mississippi. Around 2005 my family and I moved away, and during this time The North
Mississippi Hill Country Picnic was evolving. Kenny Brown a resident from Potts Camp, Mississippi
created the idea of having a picnic to educate, remember, and appreciate their local blues artists, such
as R. L. Burnside. The picnic is held in Waterford, Mississippi and lasts for two days. Some of the
local venders offer barbeque and catfish plates, along with a slice of watermelon, denoted by the local
boy scouts. The festival attracts many travelers to Marshall County, Sara stated, As many as 11 foreign

Business Collaboration, Rather Than Market Competition
IS BUSINESS COLLABORATION, RATHER THAN MARKET COMPETITION, BECOME THE
KEY TO SUCCESS? INTRODUCTION Today s fast growing market requires mutually beneficial
partnerships to gain creativity, experience, processes, technology and resources with both right and
left brain thinkers, that helps in achieving extraordinary achievements in lesser time which technically
framed as collaboration. By making partnerships or collaborating externally, companies are able to
innovate and get develop much more quickly and even create solutions of too many problems with an
effective and efficient way. (Mudge, et.al 2014) Competition can be define as it is the rivalry among
sellers who are trying to achieve same goals such as increasing profits, market share and sales volume
by varying price, product, distribution and promotion (Wikipedia, 2014). In market competition,
innovative business firms are ever conscious of the competitors and have a constant look on
differentiating their brand and product by many different innovations and developments
(Ukessays.com, 2014). With a happier working team, collaboration represents an educated one. This is
because it naturally inspires a sense of community within an organization and employees feel almost
like they are a part of a family. Further, it also allows employees to learn from each other
(Elcomcms.com, 2014). The worldwide internet has been a fantastic enabler for greater collaborations.

The Effect Of Executive Peak Performance
Research shows successful leaders achieve peak performance, even in uncertain times, because they
are charismatic, conditioned to accomplish, and they get people to take action; yet there is a dark side
that can profoundly affect those closest to them.
Peak performance is a superior level of functioning. Business leaders who achieve peak performance
have integrated sustained accomplishment in their personalities. The individual becomes fully
absorbed and focused, whether dealing with a task or another person and yet continues to maintain a
strong sense of self. The interplay between action and behavior creates an unrestrained flow resulting
in peak performance (Privette, 1999).
The impact of executive peak performance produces a host of tangible results from creating greater
organizational efficiency to improving profitability, even in times of adversity. We will learn these
kinds of results have their roots in behavioral psychology. Additionally, research has proven that when
charisma is added to the mix, achievement skyrockets. However, there is a dark side to charisma that
can and does produce negative impacts on others. We will examine these impacts, as well as what
effective leaders can do to ensure they lead responsibly allowing those around them to maintain a
heathy sense of self. As to what drives leaders, we must first look at what motivates people in general.
For this, we turn to one of the most widely recognized experts on human motivation,

The Church during the Middle Ages
The Middle Ages were a time that revolved around Christianity and converting or killing off all those
who were not Christian. As a result, strict laws were put in place that prohibited the practices that
weren t Christian. This also meant anything that was pagan was prohibited and punishable by death.
There were many practices that would be considered pagan, but the main ones of concern were the
things the Church did not approve. Of the things the Church did not approve magic, like witchcraft,
and heresy were two of the main things that were forbidden by both state and Church law. The main
reason the Church wanted to block off magic practices was to stay in power (or keep its power). This
is supported by the following: the influence of the Church on the kings resulted in the passing of civil
laws against magic; the Inquisition making sure people did not engage in magical practices; the
Church leaders downplaying witchcraft; and the persecution of the Knights Templar and followers of
John Wycliffe (who led the movement against papal authority and the clergy).
Magic originated from pagan roots in the Ancient period when Christianity did not exist. It did not
involve devils or demons, as the Church branded it later on and is often portrayed currently.
Witchcraft originally was just a form of folk magic that would be practiced as a normal routine, like a
prayer, or used for good luck. People made charms and potions to help them do something in their
lives. Whether it is for

The Invention Of The Television And Internet
What exactly is remix? Remix is the creation of a new or derivative piece of art through the alteration,
modification, or transformation of elements of the original. A remix is a piece of art that may have had
items added, appropriated, or removed. Remix is everywhere and is nothing new in public space.
People have been doing it for hundreds of years by altering paintings and other artistic art pieces. The
advent of new technology and different forms of media have allowed people to remix in entirely
different ways, utilizing new techniques, materials, and ideas. The popularization of the television and
Internet has allowed digital forms of remix, previously impossible or only attainable for a small niche
of the public. Though Banksy, Electronic Disturbance Theater, and the Yes Men group have taken
advantage of digital forms of remix through different means, the Yes Men group has remixed public
space the best. Artists often put their work in the public domain or space, but what exactly is that?
Public space is just that, locations accessible to the public with the most general being out on the
streets, places accessible or viewable to anyone without discrimination. They are visible to anyone
who has the means of getting to the place, charges no fees, and is open to everyone. This type of space
encompasses sides of buildings exposed to the street, parks, and open spaces such as plazas. Another
type of public space includes privately owned public spaces. These types of

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Rhizoctonia
1.1 Introduction of Rhizoctonia solani and its Anastomosis Groups
The soilborne Basidiomycete fungus Rhizoctonia solani Kühn [telomorph= Thanatephorus cucumeris]
is reported to cause economically important diseases on vegetables, fruits, staple crops and ornamental
plants throughout the world (Jones and Belmar, 1989; Naito et al., 1995; Yang et al., 1990). The

cucumeris (R. solani) were done on the formation of hetrokaryotic tufts at the site of their hyphal
connection between single spore homokaryotic cultures. In AGs 1 and 4, hetrokaryon formation
between two homokaryon is controlled by two closely linked genes which together referred as H
factor. Paired homokaryons that carry H factor differing at one or both genes microscopically showing
C2 reaction produce fluffy tufts of heterokaryotic hyphae. Later studies revealed that H factor was also
controlling nuclear pairing stability of heterokaryon. On account of these findings, Adams Butler

incompatibility factors. Anderson stated that sexual vegetative incompatibility is same and reciprocal
with each other. Sexual compatibility was assessed macroscopically as formation of hertrokaryotic

Judgment In The Scarlett Letter
The Scarlett Letter is an 1850 work of fiction written by Nathaniel Hawthorne. The story is set up in
the 17th century in Puritan Boston Massachusets and it mainly focuses on the life of a woman, Hester
Prynne and how she struggles to gain respect from the community after having committed adultery.
Throughout the book, themes such as sin, isolation, and judgment are explored. Hawthorne uses the
theme of judgment to convey ideas about the strictness of the puritan society. This theme is explored
from the beginning of the book up until the end. Hawthorne uses characters such as Dimmesdale,
Pearl, and Hester to show this theme and the ways in which it impacts their lives. The theme of
Judgment is evident in the first chapter when Hester was standing on the scaffold ... Show more

Because the woman asks if there is a law for her to die we are made aware of the fact that many
people based their judgments on the law and that they didn t think on their own at all. However, not all
the community is as strict, and one of the youngest women tries to stand up for Hester. This action
supports Hawthorne s idea of women diminishment in roughness over generations. The young woman
says: Not a stitch in that embroidered letter but she has felt it in her heart (41). This shows how she
understood that Hester was judging herself harshly enough and that she barely cared about other s
judgments towards her. Also, because this woman was not raised in such strict manners she was not
blinded by the puritan laws and she was able to understand better Hester s condition. Apart from that,
Hester is more independent because she doesn t rely on a husband and this creates a reason for this
woman to admire and defend her. Pearl is another character who is subjected to judgment as a result of
Hester s sin. Indeed, many puritan mothers who are deep rooted on their beliefs try to prevent their
own children from playing with

Bill Clinton s Popularity Despite the Scandals Essay
The name William Jefferson Bill Clinton either creates a negative image or a positive image in the
minds of most Americans. Bill Clinton was the 42nd President of the United States of America and
served two consecutive terms. He is one of the most popular presidents in history right up there with
Kennedy and even Abraham Lincoln. Nevertheless, there are a group of Americans that remember
President Clinton in a negative light. These Americans could be described as the moral majority or the
Christian right. These Americans remember the disgrace and shame that the office of the presidency

during the impeachment but it went up very quickly above 70 percent which indicates the public did

President Clinton is certainly human and makes mistakes, just like all of us do. But he has this ability

Americans are generally unmindful of a crisis at hand, until the mass media voices their opinion onto
a public platform. The media controls and manipulates our viewpoints, values, and actions, so that
individuals conform to their bias. They construct and constrict language to accomplish a specific goal
or motive, so it is important for people to not blindly accept information at its face value. When it
comes to interpretation of the oil famine and alternative energy, there is less public discourse than one
would expect to inform individuals on a precarious, worldwide problem. It has been well documented
throughout the ladder half of the twentieth century that fossil fuels are likely to run out within the
lifetime of baby boomers and most certainly be gone in the span of Generation Y. Likewise, scientists
have noted the detrimental cost of burning these fuels to the environment, which include increasing
greenhouse gases and polluting the world s air. A disproportionate amount of oil is discovered
compared to the amount consumed each year. Supply cannot keep up with the ever growing demand.
Yet, oil companies still claim they will never run out of oil. It is in the best interest for these
corporations and the media to keep this information classified, in order to milk oil for as much capital
as possible for as long as possible, with no regard to the well being of earth and its inhabitants.

Example Of Diction In Hamlet
Within Shakespeare s writing there is an importance of the diction he uses, in order to enhance central
themes of the play. In addition, his diction creates allusions, connotations, denotations, and
ambiguities in order to allow the play to capture characters feelings and relations to the overall
themes. One line in act one was, I am a little more than kin and less than kind (25). The word kin
means son, but Hamlet says the phrase, a little more than kin , in order to express how he is related
more to his uncle than just as a son, but also as his cousin. Which allows him to go on to explain how
this circumstance is, less than kind . The actual definition of kind is polite but when Hamlet says, less
than kind he is inferring how appalling that his mother would shortly after his father died, marry his
father s brother. A brother in law, in Shakespeare s day was considered your actual brother, therefore,
the queen marrying Hamlet s uncle was known as incest, which is a common theme. Consequently,
this line contains emotional resonance, or connotation. As, mentioned the queen s action was frowned
upon to marry in your family, therefore, the audience may be feeling disgusted and pitying Hamlet for
the injustices that his mother has done for the family. Another way shakespeare uses his diction in
order to develop characters and central themes, is whenever the King talks. For example, when the
king talks to Hamlet about how crude and un king like Hamlet is acting, the king makes sure to point
out for these reasons Hamlet is not fit for being king. One line that the king said was, Tis unmanly
grief (27), which allows for the audience to once again feel a negative connotation. The emotional
appeal of the word, unmanly is how one may be extremely sensitive as would a female would be and
would never be able to get the job done. In addition, the actual definition or the denotation of the word
is for one to not act man like and is weak or cowardly. Therefore, the king, Claudius, is calling his son
a coward who is weak and too sensitive for the job. Which allows for the audience to feel as if the
king is the best person for the job and that he must be trustworthy and no one could rise against him.

misperceived that Hy Dairies or even the whole industry would be just the same. In this case both
Gilman and Beauport made similar mistakes by narrowly categorizing, homogenizing, and perceiving
others into a certain group which is either similar or opposite to their own social identity.
Besides the above mentioned social identity and stereotyping problem, we may also see some other
perceptual errors given in the case, such as false consensus effect. It is the tendency for people to
project their way of thinking onto other people, or assume that everyone else thinks the same way they
do. Gilman apparently overestimated the extent to which Beauport had beliefs and characteristics
similar to his own. 3. What actions should the organization take to correct these problems?

how stereotyping works as well as meaningful interaction can effectively decrease the negative impact

Plant Mitochondri Cytochrome Oxidase And The Cyanide...
Plant mitochondria include two terminal oxidases: cytochrome oxidase and the cyanide insensitive
alternative oxidase. Electron partitioning between the two pathways is regulated by the redox
equilibrium of the ubiquinone pool and the activation state of the alternative oxidase. The alternative
oxidase appears to exist as a dimer, which is active in the reduced, noncovalently linked form, and
inactive when in the oxidized, covalently linked form. Reduction of the oxidase in detached tobacco
mitochondria occurs upon oxidation of isocitrate or malate and may be mediated by matrix NAD(P)H.
The energy of the reduced oxidase is influenced by certain other organic acids, notably pyruvate,
which appear to interact directly with the enzyme. Pyruvate alters the interaction between the
alternative oxidase and ubiquinol so that the oxidase becomes active at much lower levels of ubiquinol
and competes with the cytochrome pathway for electrons. These will be further explored in this piece.
Cyanide resistant respiration was found toward the beginning of the twentieth century as a singularity
in thermogenic plants in the middle of anthesis and was later seen to be a regular highlight of plant
respiration. The think of respiration impenetrable to cyanide is related with the closeness in the
respiratory chain of an supplemental terminal oxidase alternative oxidase (AOX). The closeness of
AOX in higher plant mitochondria propose an intriguing, favorable exchange regarding its title in vivo

The Trial On The Jury System
Introduction
Have you ever been to a trial or have you seen a trial on the television? Have you ever saw that group
of people that were sitting in a box? Or have you ever heard someone say they have to go do jury
duty? You may wondered what jury duty is. Well jury duty is service as a member of a jury in a court
of law. You may say well what is a jury? A jury is a body of people sworn to give to give a verdict in a
legal case on the basis of evidence submitted to them in court. In this paper we will talk about three
counties and how their jury system goes. And if they don t have one we will talk about what they do

Mexico Jury System
Mexico did not commonly use the jury system. The judicial protection is provided by the Writ of

Post Modern and Contemporary Period in the United States
The 1960s 1970s, the Peace Movement, the Hippie Movement, the Antiwar Movement, the Protest
Movement, the Civil Rights Movement, the Postmodern and Contemporary period; These names,
periods, epochs, eras, and movements all have different meanings, however they refer to the same
time in history and the emotions related to it. For these purposes it will simply be called the
Postmodern and Contemporary period in the United States. This epoch was one of peace,
individualism, spiritualism, unity, change, progress, mass harmonic assemblies, war, death,
destruction, discontent, fear, hope, expression, free speech, questioning, and development of the arts.
The emotions of the period are now trapped in the literature and art we see today. ... Show more

Dylan exemplifies the peace theme by asking how many seas must a white dove sail before she sleeps
in the sand? The white dove is an archetype for peace, and the sleeping in the sand symbolizes the
goal of the dove (peace), so Dylan is asking what it will take to achieve peace. Dylan illustrates the
anti war theme by asking how many times must the cannon balls fly before they re forever banned?
Cannon balls are an archetype for war and violence, and to ban them would mean there would be no
more war. Dylan turns to the evils that war causes and the troubles of society by inquiring how many
times can a man turn his head pretending he just doesn t see? Dylan leaves the end of the question
open to interpretation, but many believe the quote to mean how many times can someone choose to
disregard the violence, poverty, racism, death, etc. that befall our society and not assist in preventing
it? Dylan asks something similar to this a few verses down, he writes how many ears can one man
have before he can hear people cry? This implies almost the same idea as the previous quote we
discussed. Lastly, Dylan asks how many deaths will it take till he knows that too many people have
died . This is possibly the most concrete criticism of the Vietnam war we see throughout the whole
poem, Dylan asks how many people have to die until the government realizes that it s time to leave

Tesla Company Analysis
Introduction As a new investor and with the current state of the United States economy, my investment
objectives will be centered around a significant level of capital appreciation, as well as marketability,
liquidity, and a substantial level of safety. As a college student, I will be looking to analyze and invest
in stocks that I will be able to hold for many years and that also provide growth. I will reinvest
dividends that I earn back into my portfolio to purchase additional securities that will add to the
growth and diversification of my portfolio. Day to day fluctuations in price will not affect my opinion

In March, real average hourly earnings fell 0.3%, while average hourly earnings remained unchanged
and the CPI for all items rise 0.2%. The unemployment rate in the United States has improved
dramatically over the last two years, from a high of 8.3% in July 2012, to a low of 6.6% in January
2014. In October of 2012, the civilian labor force increased from 578,000 to 155.6 million, labor force
participation increased up to 63.8%, and total employment overall rose by 410,000! Since then, the
unemployment rate has been falling at a stable rate due to a political push from Washington DC and
new employment initiatives. The inflation rate over the last 2 years has been relatively stably, with a
few major increases and decreases in 2012 and 2013. It reached a high of 2.3% in June of 2012, and
reached a low of 1.0% at the end of 2013. The federal interest rate has remained at a constant .25%
over the past few years. When looking at international political factors and government policy
changes, the situation between Russia and Estonia has become growingly more relevant to the US.
NATO s Article 5 states that an attack on one is an attack on all, meaning that Russia, if invading and
declaring war on Estonia would be fighting the combined forces of NATO. Thus, the United States
would get involved. War would most definitely

Disruption-Tolerant Networking Essay
Survey of Routing protocols of Delay Tolerant Networks Bansari Chauhan Department of Electrical
and Computer Engineering Michigan State University East Lansing, USA chauha10@msu.edu
Abstract Delay Tolerant Networks are intermittent networks which don t have constant connectivity
between its nodes. Though it has evolved from mobile ad hoc network (MANET), its protocols cannot
be used because of intermittency. They have finite coverage of bandwidth, nodes that are scattered
widely (which can be mobile), limited energy resources, variable delay and data rates that vary
according to direction. This leads to high error rate. Such networks can be in extreme terrestrial
locations or planned networks in space. Since DTNs are prone to ... Show more content on

Thus, conventional routing strategies cannot be used in DTNs, thus new routing protocols need to be
devised which are quite different from the conventional ones. Other features of DTNs include lack of
constant connectivity between end to end nodes. Moreover, since there are no immediate path
connections for data packets to reach their destinations, the latency for data delivery is high, and thus,
data rates are low. Other problems also include long queuing delays and finite longevity of a single
node. Transporting or transferring data from source to destination is called as routing. Since DTNs
have scarce resources, it is important to utilize these resources wisely and new techniques need to be
devised which can do that. For efficient routing in DTNs, nodes need to keep information about link
establishment in future and use buffer resources carefully to save power. DTNs mostly use the
technique of store and carry forward nodes, since there is no way to detect which nodes can efficiently
deliver the data packets. This makes the security and reliability of data a challenging issue when
dealing with DTNs, which is why DTNs can be differentiated from its parent network, MANET. This
paper aims to include, classify and organize a range of protocols to deliver a comprehensive analysis.

Analysis Of Altruism In The Fountainhead
Adapting Egoism over Altruism: Equality s Escape from Collectivism
No creator was prompted by a desire to serve his brothers, for his brothers rejected the gift he offered
and that gift destroyed the slothful routine of their lives (Rand, The Fountainhead). As described in the
novel The Fountainhead, history has shown to repeat itself by punishing the inventors of new objects
that go against societal normalities. This is evident with Equality 7 2521, the protagonist in Ayn Rand
s book Anthem. Set in a future free of technology, Anthem depicts a man s struggle to free himself
from collectivism. In the novel, society has put strict rules in place to ensure members are controlled
and free from independent thought. Equality acknowledges these rules throughout the book yet still
breaks them to pursue his passion for learning and inventing. Equality s decision to put his own
interests before society s ultimately leads to his liberation. During the book, Equality internally
struggles between doing what is morally right for society and following what he wants. In the city,
rules and expectations are put in place to eliminate individuality. One of these, mentioned in another
piece by Rand, The Fountainhead, is the idea of Altruism, the doctrine which demands that man live
for others and place others above oneself (Rand, The Fountainhead). This eventually leads to men
[having] been taught dependence as a virtue (Rand, The Fountainhead). She further elaborates how
society has implemented Altruism as an excuse to eliminate individuality rather than using it as a tool
to genuinely help others. Since this concept is preached to everyone their whole life, they grow up
only knowing altruism and don t know what individuality is or how they can express it. However,
Equality begins to question the idea of helping others before himself and debates between doing his
undesirable street sweeping job for the city or pursuing his quest for knowledge. Although he would
much rather learn new material, he still feels obligated to carry out his role in the society. This proves
how what he has been taught holds him back from achieving his goal, as Equality is initially confused
on what to do and hesitates. Even though the

Medea Figurative Language Essay
Gabby Nunez
The Use of Imagery and Figurative Language to Communicate Themes in Euripides Medea
In the play, Medea by Euripides, there are many examples of imagery and figurative language to
communicate themes such as: revenge, love, pride and culture. Medea falls in love with Jason, a man
from Greece, she gives up everything and leaves her country to be with the one she loves. Shortly
after Jason and Medea arrive to Corinth, Jason leaves Medea and marries the king s daughter. Filled
with anger and hurt, Medea plans to get revenge on those who have hurt her. This plan to get revenge
reveals Medea s true character and also shows what people in her country value.

The Three Women of Corinth boast about how great it is to be from the Greek culture. Athens is
beautiful as a lamp on a rock. The temples are marble shafted; light shines and lingers there. Honey
colored are the carved stones and silver color on the leaves of the olives. The maidens are crowned
with violets: Athens and Corinth are the two crowns of time. The First Woman uses two types of
figurative language such as simile and imagery. She compares Athen s beauty to a lamp on a rock.
This seems to be a beautiful sight according to the people of Greece. In Athens their temples are
marble shafted, beautiful, bright light shines on their precious city. The stones are honey colored and
the leaves on the olives have a silver color to them. Athens and Corinth are the top two cities in
Greece. It is absolutely an honor to live in such a beautiful city. The Three Women viewed Greece as a
beautiful place to live in. However they do not mention other countries or acknowledge how beautiful
other countries are. The Three Women represent Greek culture. How self centered and prideful people

Jeremy Bentham And John Rawls s Approach To Utilitarianism
The idea in utilitarianism is that the moral worth of an action is determined solely by its value in
providing happiness or pleasure as summed among all conscious beings. It is a form of
consequentialism, meaning that the moral worth of any action is determined by its outcome. Thus the
utilitarian maxim: the greatest good for the greatest number. The largest contributors to utilitarianism
were Jeremy Bentham and John Stuart Mill. [1]
The objection that I am going to focus on in this essay is a broad one but also I believe the most
important and valid objection to the theory. The objection is that Utilitarianism ignores individuals and
individual rights.
John Rawls rises what I believe to be a very good point in his objection to ... Show more content on

Basically as that of an impartial, sympathetic spectator who imaginatively identifies with every other
member of the society thus conflating all their desires within one experience. [5] This allows the
society to balance individual needs and desires, gains and losses as if they were one individual. The
problem with this of course is that a society is not one individual person. This approach treats the
different individuals in a society as if they were of no more importance for ordering of society then the
different stages of an individual s life are for its ordering. But a society is composed of different and
distinctly individual persons, each with its own life to lead, goals, ambitions, points of view, desires
and so on. People cannot be simply cashed out for experience since boundaries between individuals
are of far greater importance and in fact define the very object of moral concern.
These objections were also raised by Thomas Nagel who claimed that utilitarianism treats the desires,
needs, satisfactions, and dissatisfactions of distinct persons as if they were of a super person or one
mass person [6] as well as David Gauthier who said utilitarianism supposes that mankind is a so called
super person, whose greatest satisfaction is the objective of moral action.

The Relationship Between Internal Communication and...
Introduction
It is clear that internal communication is an essential practice for organisational success. However,
what does this statement actually mean? In this essay, I hope to break down both concepts of internal
communication and successful organisations and then conduct an in depth analysis on the relationship
between internal communication and successful organisations.
What is internal communication?
Literature Reivew
According to Bruce Berger, Internal communication represents the communication and the
interactions among the members of an organization, being defined as a way of describing and
explaining a corporation. Internal communication targets the internal members of an organization,
including the superiors, the collaborators and the subordinates. (Kovacs Reka and Anca Borza, 2012,
613 630)
This means that internal communications is crucial for creating unity and harmony within an
organisation. Through internal communication, employees of an organisation can exchange
information, establish relationships, form systems of values, create an organisational culture,
harmonize activities, establish collaboration for the achievement of goals and develop formal and
informal networks. (Kovacs Reka and Anca Borza, 2012, 613 630) Another way to look at internal
communications would be to define it as a strategic organisational communications and they differ
from one organisation to another.
Internal communications happens constantly within organizations and is

The Role Of White Privilege In American Society
**MAIN POINT #1: Black and White aren t colors, they re a variety of shades. **
**MAIN POINT #2: The truth is that White privilege doesn t solely exist, as all groups have privilege.
**
I m sick and tired of hearing about White privilege being tossed around, as if Whites are the only
group of people who have the capability to succeed. A fool in his heart says I can t to do it, but a wise
man says anything is limitless and does it without repercussion.
First, define what privilege means, according to good ole Merriam Webster:
**Full Definition of *****privilege***
1. : a right or immunity (http://www.merriam webster.com/dictionary/immunity) granted as a peculiar
benefit, advantage, or favor

There countless number of physicians. scientists, innovators, politicians, historical figures, etc. who
are African American, Asian American, Hispanic/Latina/o American, etc. If there is privilege, then
why can minority groups hold government positions, go to respected universities, drive cars, read and
write, etc. Basically do anything a white person can do, without barriers.
Just realize the same people who are perpetrating the White privilege, are the same ones who want to
hold minorities down. You can t spend the rest of the twentieth century nagging about race, when it is
you could be making a change to the world. This whole concept is so ridiculous, that even I as a
minority have to laugh off at the notion.
NOTE: Since facts and logic are my best friend, I will be willing to provide them to anyone so seeking
them in the comment section (comment if ye dare).
Thank you, and as a final note, this post was not meant to offend, ridicule, belittle, or harbor any
negativity or animosity towards anyone or type of thinking. Just used satire (in a rational way) to

  • 2. The Bells By Edgar Allan Poe The main idea of The Bells written by Edgar Allan Poe is connecting the different rings bells have with the moods they give off. The Bells actually has several themes, happiness, celebration, terror, and a mix of them all. The first stanza talks about the joy of bells, the second talks about the celebration of wedding bells, the third is about alarming bells, and the fourths is about the different stages of bells combined. The mood of the poem quickly changes from cheerful and lighthearted to horrifying and deep. First off, each stanza starts with an opening statement and then with either the words Silver, Golden, Brazen, or Iron Bells. Silver is something precious whereas iron can be represented as something worthy of mocking or unpleasant. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the 1970 s, Mexico became one of the world s largest oil suppliers to the world market. International bankers made loans to Mexico, who promptly accepted them, but sooner than later the interest rates and debt rose to an uncontrollable point. Intending to boost the country s economy, the Lopez Portillo administration spent vast amounts of public spending on electricity generation, construction, the mining industry, and manufacturing. However, the country s debt rose due to the US and other countries taking advantage of their large amounts of oil. The world oil market collapsed, and with it, the Mexican economy. Despite earning less than their male counterparts, women tended to invest their money in the needs of the household, rather than spending money for their own use. Without the male presence in the home, the families tended to be smaller, and the family income was distributed to fewer members. Therefore their family per capita was greater than when the men were in charge. The economic crisis of the 1980 s caused great harm to the Mexican economy, but had lasting beneficiary effects on gender equality. Because many men often migrated to other parts of the country or bordering countries to find better work, the women were forced to join the workforce. Families assimilated to the lack of presence of women at home, generating creative strategies to continue on. 70% of households bought less food, clothing, shoes, etc. and spent less on transportation and food than prior to the economic crisis. There was a dramatic increase of women aged twenty to twenty four in the workforce, rising by ten percent since prior to the crisis. However, some social customs still remained. While the men still in charge of families were able to eat the more expensive foods such as meat and eggs, female heads of the family ate less hearty, unhealthy food, which mainly consisted of beans, tortillas, fruits and ... • 5. America s Tax Policy Is Not Appropriate For The United... A very controversial topic in today s society is America s tax policy. Currently, there is three different solutions to the current tax system. One is lowering the rate for progressive tax, our current tax system, which is progressively higher tax rate with more income. The second is fair tax, which is where people are only taxed for buying goods, not their income. The most suitable solution, is where everyone is treated fairly and must pay the same percentage of tax; this is known as flat tax. Our current tax policy is not appropriate for the United States of America. The current tax system is named progressive tax. Progressive tax is established off the people who make more money pay more in taxes while the people who make less money pay less in taxes. This system does not fit in well with today s society because the more compensated are charged much more than the less compensated, the top 1% of taxpayers have consistently paid more in federal income taxes than the bottom 90% since 2003 and that share has increased almost every year since 1980 (Phillips). Having the top 1% of taxpayers pay more than the super majority of the country is extraordinarily unfair to the 1%. A main principle of the United States is equality, so the tax policy should be more equal. With flat tax enacted every person would be paying the identical percentage of tax. With this in mind, it is not exactly equal, but very close. On the flip side, it does give the lower income people a break while ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

An analysis based comparison between generative reasoning perspective and rational reasoning perspective will present arguments on how the methodologies between the two types of strategic thinking perspectives fuels the debate over which approach to strategy may not only more effective, but also correlates to Branson s own strategic thinking method. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is further argued by advocates of RRP that such reasoning strongly resembles the problem solving approach of chess grand masters (Simon, 1987). This argument opens up certain views that RRP revolves around a central theme that when dealing with strategic thinking, deductive and inductive logic is commonly used. Yet again with the use of Table 1 (Appendix 1), characteristics on RRP can be recognized. With this information, we can start to identify to what extent Branson fits in with the RRP model. Arguably, RRP is seen as more of a figurative way of thinking whereby decisions are based primarily on factual information. With this understanding, Branson periodically demonstrates a RRP way of strategizing on how he performs business. The first clear example of Branson using the RRP is shown in the case study whereby he uses factual based reasoning in regards to his efforts of expanding the product line of his company to different areas in the market. Branson used analytical data stating that 96 percent of the United Kingdom recognized the Virgin logo. Branson used the Virgin logo to help diversify into other currently booming industries around the United Kingdom and other parts of the world (i.e. book publishing, computer game development, soft drink manufacturing, cinemas and even financial services). In Quaker households, it was more of a partnership between the husband and wife than in those of Massachusetts and Virginia. In the Delaware Valley children spoke of their father and mother s house. What does it mean to have a perfect world? Back in the 1920s they had an idea to create a world that only included a certain idea of whom the best type of people were. This may sound like an interesting idea but the price of our own human decency was taken in which human life did not mean the same for everyone. Most people are unaware of what Eugenics is because it is not a proud point in the United States, so it does not get taught or talked about very often. Eugenics started in the late 1800 s. A man named, Sir Francis Galton was the first person to use the word eugenics. The word eugenics means, the science of improving a human population by controlled breeding to increase the occurrence of desirable heritable characteristics. (Eugenics) For a while Eugenics was just an idea of how to perfect the human population. The ideas were put into books and then analyzed scientifically, but in a way that was biased and unreliable. The Supreme Court put a law in place called, Buck V. Bell, which supported the obligatory sterilization of people that would be seen as unfit in our society. • 16. Effects Of Economic Growth On Society 1. INTRODUCTION 1.1 BACKGROUND The harmful effects and environmental problems resulting from impact of economic growth have increased concerns of environmentalists, shareholders, governmental bodies and society about environmental issues. Pressures from a variety of sources have come to bear on the companies to accept responsibility for impacts on society from business activities (Hackston and Milne, 1996). Companies are being urged to become accountable to a wider audience than shareholder and creditor groups (Hackston and Milne, 1996). Financial objectives are no longer the only important variables to firms; in addition to the owners economic aims, the interests of employees, customers and the public at large have increasingly been recognized over the years (Kolk, 1999). As indicated by Kolk (1999), the notion of stakeholders has emerged to complement the concept of shareholders . Due to these developments, companies have been attempting to seriously take into account their environmental and social impacts and to provide information about their environmental performance (Unerman et al., 2014; Dixon et al., 2005; Monteiro Guzmán, 2010). Many companies have developed environmental management systems and increasingly adopted environmental reporting within the annual report (Deegan and Gordon, 1996; Gray et al., 1995a; Guthrie and Parker, 1990). It was because of this that the government made gun ownership exceptional. This is different from today when gun ownership is everywhere. Due to the high concentration of guns sometimes it is hard to count how many are sold in the United States every year. This assignment will delve into the complexity of leadership and will emphasize that whilst leaders can attempt to create conditions to help schools improve, they are not solely responsible for the outcome of the education process. Fullan (2001) posits that effective school leadership has the ability to manage educational change by building strong relationships and establishing a moral purpose. Therefore, the school leader has the orchestral role of subtly creating the conditions necessary for pupils and staff to thrive. This assignment will focus primarily on three of the preconditions for effective Leadership for Learning, mentioned with the assignment title: the role of shared leadership, explicit conversations and the creation of settings, mindsets, and strategies conducive to learning. INTRODUCTION Today s fast growing market requires mutually beneficial partnerships to gain creativity, experience, processes, technology and resources with both right and left brain thinkers, that helps in achieving extraordinary achievements in lesser time which technically framed as collaboration. By making partnerships or collaborating externally, companies are able to innovate and get develop much more quickly and even create solutions of too many problems with an effective and efficient way. (Mudge, et.al 2014) Competition can be define as it is the rivalry among sellers who are trying to achieve same goals such as increasing profits, market share and sales volume by varying price, product, distribution and promotion (Wikipedia, 2014). In market competition, innovative business firms are ever conscious of the competitors and have a constant look on differentiating their brand and product by many different innovations and developments (Ukessays.com, 2014). With a happier working team, collaboration represents an educated one. This is because it naturally inspires a sense of community within an organization and employees feel almost like they are a part of a family. • 28. The Effect Of Executive Peak Performance Research shows successful leaders achieve peak performance, even in uncertain times, because they are charismatic, conditioned to accomplish, and they get people to take action; yet there is a dark side that can profoundly affect those closest to them. Peak performance is a superior level of functioning. Business leaders who achieve peak performance have integrated sustained accomplishment in their personalities. The individual becomes fully absorbed and focused, whether dealing with a task or another person and yet continues to maintain a strong sense of self. The interplay between action and behavior creates an unrestrained flow resulting in peak performance (Privette, 1999). The impact of executive peak performance produces a host of tangible results from creating greater organizational efficiency to improving profitability, even in times of adversity. We will learn these kinds of results have their roots in behavioral psychology. Additionally, research has proven that when charisma is added to the mix, achievement skyrockets. However, there is a dark side to charisma that can and does produce negative impacts on others. We will examine these impacts, as well as what effective leaders can do to ensure they lead responsibly allowing those around them to maintain a heathy sense of self. As to what drives leaders, we must first look at what motivates people in general. For this, we turn to one of the most widely recognized experts on human motivation, ... • 29. The Church during the Middle Ages The Middle Ages were a time that revolved around Christianity and converting or killing off all those who were not Christian. As a result, strict laws were put in place that prohibited the practices that weren t Christian. This also meant anything that was pagan was prohibited and punishable by death. There were many practices that would be considered pagan, but the main ones of concern were the things the Church did not approve. Of the things the Church did not approve magic, like witchcraft, and heresy were two of the main things that were forbidden by both state and Church law. The main reason the Church wanted to block off magic practices was to stay in power (or keep its power). This is supported by the following: the influence of the Church on the kings resulted in the passing of civil laws against magic; the Inquisition making sure people did not engage in magical practices; the Church leaders downplaying witchcraft; and the persecution of the Knights Templar and followers of John Wycliffe (who led the movement against papal authority and the clergy). Magic originated from pagan roots in the Ancient period when Christianity did not exist. It did not involve devils or demons, as the Church branded it later on and is often portrayed currently. Witchcraft originally was just a form of folk magic that would be practiced as a normal routine, like a prayer, or used for good luck. • 35. Judgment In The Scarlett Letter The Scarlett Letter is an 1850 work of fiction written by Nathaniel Hawthorne. The story is set up in the 17th century in Puritan Boston Massachusets and it mainly focuses on the life of a woman, Hester Prynne and how she struggles to gain respect from the community after having committed adultery. Throughout the book, themes such as sin, isolation, and judgment are explored. Hawthorne uses the theme of judgment to convey ideas about the strictness of the puritan society. This theme is explored from the beginning of the book up until the end. The young woman says: Not a stitch in that embroidered letter but she has felt it in her heart (41). This shows how she understood that Hester was judging herself harshly enough and that she barely cared about other s judgments towards her. Also, because this woman was not raised in such strict manners she was not blinded by the puritan laws and she was able to understand better Hester s condition. Apart from that, Hester is more independent because she doesn t rely on a husband and this creates a reason for this woman to admire and defend her. Pearl is another character who is subjected to judgment as a result of Hester s sin. • 38. Example Of Diction In Hamlet Within Shakespeare s writing there is an importance of the diction he uses, in order to enhance central themes of the play. In addition, his diction creates allusions, connotations, denotations, and ambiguities in order to allow the play to capture characters feelings and relations to the overall themes. One line in act one was, I am a little more than kin and less than kind (25). The word kin means son, but Hamlet says the phrase, a little more than kin , in order to express how he is related more to his uncle than just as a son, but also as his cousin. Which allows him to go on to explain how this circumstance is, less than kind . The actual definition of kind is polite but when Hamlet says, less than kind he is inferring how appalling that his mother would shortly after his father died, marry his father s brother. A brother in law, in Shakespeare s day was considered your actual brother, therefore, the queen marrying Hamlet s uncle was known as incest, which is a common theme. Consequently, this line contains emotional resonance, or connotation. As, mentioned the queen s action was frowned upon to marry in your family, therefore, the audience may be feeling disgusted and pitying Hamlet for the injustices that his mother has done for the family. Another way shakespeare uses his diction in order to develop characters and central themes, is whenever the King talks. For example, when the king talks to Hamlet about how crude and un king like Hamlet is acting, the king makes sure to point out for these reasons Hamlet is not fit for being king. One line that the king said was, Tis unmanly grief (27), which allows for the audience to once again feel a negative connotation. The emotional appeal of the word, unmanly is how one may be extremely sensitive as would a female would be and would never be able to get the job done. In addition, the actual definition or the denotation of the word is for one to not act man like and is weak or cowardly. Therefore, the king, Claudius, is calling his son a coward who is weak and too sensitive for the job. Which allows for the audience to feel as if the king is the best person for the job and that he must be trustworthy and no one could rise against him. Yet, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 41. Plant Mitochondri Cytochrome Oxidase And The Cyanide... Plant mitochondria include two terminal oxidases: cytochrome oxidase and the cyanide insensitive alternative oxidase. Electron partitioning between the two pathways is regulated by the redox equilibrium of the ubiquinone pool and the activation state of the alternative oxidase. The alternative oxidase appears to exist as a dimer, which is active in the reduced, noncovalently linked form, and inactive when in the oxidized, covalently linked form. Reduction of the oxidase in detached tobacco mitochondria occurs upon oxidation of isocitrate or malate and may be mediated by matrix NAD(P)H. The energy of the reduced oxidase is influenced by certain other organic acids, notably pyruvate, which appear to interact directly with the enzyme. Pyruvate alters the interaction between the alternative oxidase and ubiquinol so that the oxidase becomes active at much lower levels of ubiquinol and competes with the cytochrome pathway for electrons. These will be further explored in this piece. Cyanide resistant respiration was found toward the beginning of the twentieth century as a singularity in thermogenic plants in the middle of anthesis and was later seen to be a regular highlight of plant respiration. Other problems also include long queuing delays and finite longevity of a single node. Transporting or transferring data from source to destination is called as routing. Since DTNs have scarce resources, it is important to utilize these resources wisely and new techniques need to be devised which can do that. For efficient routing in DTNs, nodes need to keep information about link establishment in future and use buffer resources carefully to save power. DTNs mostly use the technique of store and carry forward nodes, since there is no way to detect which nodes can efficiently deliver the data packets. This makes the security and reliability of data a challenging issue when dealing with DTNs, which is why DTNs can be differentiated from its parent network, MANET. This paper aims to include, classify and organize a range of protocols to deliver a comprehensive analysis. Variety of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. Analysis Of Altruism In The Fountainhead Adapting Egoism over Altruism: Equality s Escape from Collectivism No creator was prompted by a desire to serve his brothers, for his brothers rejected the gift he offered and that gift destroyed the slothful routine of their lives (Rand, The Fountainhead). As described in the novel The Fountainhead, history has shown to repeat itself by punishing the inventors of new objects that go against societal normalities. This is evident with Equality 7 2521, the protagonist in Ayn Rand s book Anthem. Set in a future free of technology, Anthem depicts a man s struggle to free himself from collectivism. In the novel, society has put strict rules in place to ensure members are controlled and free from independent thought. Equality acknowledges these rules throughout the book yet still breaks them to pursue his passion for learning and inventing. Equality s decision to put his own interests before society s ultimately leads to his liberation. During the book, Equality internally struggles between doing what is morally right for society and following what he wants. In the city, rules and expectations are put in place to eliminate individuality. One of these, mentioned in another piece by Rand, The Fountainhead, is the idea of Altruism, the doctrine which demands that man live for others and place others above oneself (Rand, The Fountainhead). This eventually leads to men [having] been taught dependence as a virtue (Rand, The Fountainhead). She further elaborates how society has implemented Altruism as an excuse to eliminate individuality rather than using it as a tool to genuinely help others. Since this concept is preached to everyone their whole life, they grow up only knowing altruism and don t know what individuality is or how they can express it. However, Equality begins to question the idea of helping others before himself and debates between doing his undesirable street sweeping job for the city or pursuing his quest for knowledge. Although he would much rather learn new material, he still feels obligated to carry out his role in the society. This proves how what he has been taught holds him back from achieving his goal, as Equality is initially confused on what to do and hesitates. Even though the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Three Women of Corinth boast about how great it is to be from the Greek culture. Athens is beautiful as a lamp on a rock. The temples are marble shafted; light shines and lingers there. Honey colored are the carved stones and silver color on the leaves of the olives. The maidens are crowned with violets: Athens and Corinth are the two crowns of time. The First Woman uses two types of figurative language such as simile and imagery. She compares Athen s beauty to a lamp on a rock. This seems to be a beautiful sight according to the people of Greece. In Athens their temples are marble shafted, beautiful, bright light shines on their precious city. The stones are honey colored and the leaves on the olives have a silver color to them. Athens and Corinth are the top two cities in Greece. It is absolutely an honor to live in such a beautiful city. The Three Women viewed Greece as a beautiful place to live in. However they do not mention other countries or acknowledge how beautiful other countries are. The Three Women represent Greek culture. • 49. Jeremy Bentham And John Rawls s Approach To Utilitarianism The idea in utilitarianism is that the moral worth of an action is determined solely by its value in providing happiness or pleasure as summed among all conscious beings. It is a form of consequentialism, meaning that the moral worth of any action is determined by its outcome. Thus the utilitarian maxim: the greatest good for the greatest number. The largest contributors to utilitarianism were Jeremy Bentham and John Stuart Mill. [1] The objection that I am going to focus on in this essay is a broad one but also I believe the most important and valid objection to the theory. The objection is that Utilitarianism ignores individuals and individual rights. John Rawls rises what I believe to be a very good point in his objection to ... Basically as that of an impartial, sympathetic spectator who imaginatively identifies with every other member of the society thus conflating all their desires within one experience. [5] This allows the society to balance individual needs and desires, gains and losses as if they were one individual. The problem with this of course is that a society is not one individual person. This approach treats the different individuals in a society as if they were of no more importance for ordering of society then the different stages of an individual s life are for its ordering. But a society is composed of different and distinctly individual persons, each with its own life to lead, goals, ambitions, points of view, desires and so on. People cannot be simply cashed out for experience since boundaries between individuals are of far greater importance and in fact define the very object of moral concern. These objections were also raised by Thomas Nagel who claimed that utilitarianism treats the desires, needs, satisfactions, and dissatisfactions of distinct persons as if they were of a super person or one mass person [6] as well as David Gauthier who said utilitarianism supposes that mankind is a so called super person, whose greatest satisfaction is the objective of moral action. ... • 50. The Relationship Between Internal Communication and... Introduction It is clear that internal communication is an essential practice for organisational success. However, what does this statement actually mean? In this essay, I hope to break down both concepts of internal communication and successful organisations and then conduct an in depth analysis on the relationship between internal communication and successful organisations. What is internal communication? Literature Reivew According to Bruce Berger, Internal communication represents the communication and the interactions among the members of an organization, being defined as a way of describing and explaining a corporation. Internal communication targets the internal members of an organization, including the superiors, the collaborators and the subordinates. (Kovacs Reka and Anca Borza, 2012, 613 630) This means that internal communications is crucial for creating unity and harmony within an organisation. Through internal communication, employees of an organisation can exchange information, establish relationships, form systems of values, create an organisational culture, harmonize activities, establish collaboration for the achievement of goals and develop formal and informal networks. (Kovacs Reka and Anca Borza, 2012, 613 630) Another way to look at internal communications would be to define it as a strategic organisational communications and they differ from one organisation to another. Internal communications happens constantly within organizations and is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 51. The Role Of White Privilege In American Society **MAIN POINT #1: Black and White aren t colors, they re a variety of shades. ** **MAIN POINT #2: The truth is that White privilege doesn t solely exist, as all groups have privilege. ** I m sick and tired of hearing about White privilege being tossed around, as if Whites are the only group of people who have the capability to succeed. A fool in his heart says I can t to do it, but a wise man says anything is limitless and does it without repercussion. First, define what privilege means, according to good ole Merriam Webster: **Full Definition of *****privilege*** 1. : a right or immunity (http://www.merriam webster.com/dictionary/immunity) granted as a peculiar benefit, advantage, or favor As you can see, it s a benefit, advantage, or favor that ... Just realize the same people who are perpetrating the White privilege, are the same ones who want to hold minorities down. You can t spend the rest of the twentieth century nagging about race, when it is you could be making a change to the world.
