Inflation And Unemployment Essay
Abstract
The main aim of this study is to investigate the existence of trade off relationship between inflation
rate and unemployment rate in Namibian economy between 1991 and 2014 the perspective of
Phillips curve by using the Ordinal Least Square (OLS) method. The results of Augmented Dickey
Fuller test shows that all variables are stationary at level and the integration test shows that they
integrated at level I(0). The analysis result shows the negative relationship between inflation rate
and unemployment rate in short run as it was expected. But, in the long run the estimated results
shows a positive relationship between inflation rate and unemployment rate in Namibia which is
consistent with Lucas Critique where inflation policy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Chapter one
Introduction
For years now economist have been debating about inflation and unemployment whether it is
possible to achieve both of this main macroeconomic goals , which is low inflation and low
unemployment in the economy at the same time without harming the economy. In this case it
remains one of the challenge that face most of developing countries that include Namibia, to sustain
the low inflation and low unemployment rate. Philips curve was emerged in 1960 in United
Kingdom, was named after A. W. Philips the founder of Philips curve. Philips curve suggested that
there is inverse relationship between inflation and unemployment and there are three assumptions
of Philips curve: the first one is that in the short run there is trade off between unemployment and
inflation. The second assumption is that aggregate supply can break the concept of Philips curve
because it can cause the stagnation that is high unemployment and high inflation. And the final
assumption is that in the long run there is no significant trade off between unemployment and
inflation. The economist like (McConnell 16th edition) has best interest to identify their
relationship; in the short run there is trade off between unemployment and inflation. In this view
different studies in different countries have found out

Sexually Transmitted Disease Prevention
1. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, there are many ways to prevent
sexually transmitted infections (STI) and have safer sex. The best way to prevent STI is
abstaining from oral, anal, and vaginal sex. For those who decided to have sex, limiting the
number of partners can reduce the risk of STI. Being in a monogamous relationship where
neither partner has a STI is one of the best ways to prevent getting a STI. There are vaccinations
to prevent HPV and hepatitis B. One of the best ways to prevent the spread of STI is by using a
male condom. The CDC website has more information on how to properly put on a condom and
how to properly take a condom off. Following these steps will greatly increase the effectiveness of

Self Regulation And Education-Not Advertising
Advertising, we all know it and we all have a love hate relationship for it. The most current topic on
advertising right now is, whether or not advertisement s targeting the youth of this nation should be
allowed. There are many arguments on both sides that make very valid and convincing arguments,
yet overall it all comes down to how you view the world. Personally I believe that, if moderated,
advertisements targeting a young audience are not harmful enough to ban them overall. In the
article Self Regulation and EducationNot legislation the writer supports the contiuance of children s
advertising. The article points out that advertising not only helps the economy grow but creates
smart consumers out of the youth who watch them.

US Budget Deficit Essays
The annual United States budget has been steadily rising over the past decade. The projected
federal budget for the 2012 fiscal year is going to be $3.7 million dollars compared to the $1.9
trillion in 2001. The 2012 budget is just a hundred million less than the 2011 year budget,
according to the Congressional Budget Office. The reason for this ongoing rise in the federal
budget can be acclaimed too the few financial crises that the country has faced. Beginning with
September 11th attacks, to the housing bubble bursting, to the recession hit in 2007. The
combination of all these major financial breakdowns, along with the hundreds of other fiscal
responsibilities that the government holds has lead America into a very big budget deficit.... Show

Even though it can be seen that the problem lies in the fact that there is just not enough money to
go around, the cause is rooted much deeper. It can all be traced back to the amount of money the
government actually receives as revenue. The government is just a big business and the way it
makes money is taxing the people that it governs over. The government just doesn t have any other
way of making money.
Tax revenue accounts for about 75% of the federal budget. During the 2010 fiscal year, the
United States government collected about $2.16 trillion dollars in tax revenue. About 42% of
these taxes are from individual income taxes; another 40% from Social Security taxes and the
rest are split between excise, estate, and corporate taxes (cbo.gov). The United States uses what is
called the progressive tax system. Which means the more you make, the more taxes you pay. Tax
revenue has become a very hot topic in the past few months, mostly due to the fact of a recent
group of people who call themselves Occupy Wall Street .
These people protest on Wall Street in New York on an everyday basis. They sleep there, eat there
and basically do whatever they want. This protest does not have a unified cause, but the general
conclusion that can be drawn from everyone is

High Renaissance Changes
Art in general is undergoing several changes with artists beginning to think about spatial illusions
and human form. Despite this, the changes seem subtle and understated. This discussion seeks to
highlight the changes that are happening in art and how artists are creating space in the work they
do.
For the purposes of this discussion, I select the first image that talks about the difference between
the High Renaissance and the Early Renaissance and how artists are shaping the High Renaissance
from the original early Renaissance. There are a number of ways in which artists of the High
Renaissance are doing differently from the artists of before. From the selected image, tow artists of
the current Renaissance are highlighted; Leonardo and Michelangelo.

Title: Extraction and Visualisation of the Kiwi Fruit and Strawberry Fruit DNA
Introduction: All organisms have DNA (Deoxyribonucleic Acid) in the nuclei of their cells. The
aim of this experiment is to extract this DNA using common household detergent to breakdown the
cellular membrane then through the use of ethanol to extract the DNA from the Kiwi and
Strawberry fruit. After the DNA has been extracted the DNA will be visualised by agarose gel
electrophoresis which is done by adding a dye to the extracted DNA then being placed in the gel,
once the negatively charged DNA has been placed in the gel it will slowly move towards the
positively charged end (anode) then is viewed under an ultraviolet light then compared to the
control of known lengths of DNA to show the size of the unknown DNA samples.
Materials Methods: The requirements for this practical are a small sample of diced kiwi fruit,
detergent, zip lock bag, 1 10mL auto pipette, chux cloth, water, funnel, conical flask, 15mL test
tube, ice (in esky), texter, ethanol, small plastic hook, 1.5mL eppendorf tube, micro centrifuge,
paper towel, 10 200uL auto pipette, distilled water, heat block capable of reaching 55вЃ°C, agarose
gel, intact plasmid (pBluescript), salt, linearized plasmid (cut once), linearized plasmid (cut twice)
cut with restriction enzymes, tips for both 10 200uL and the 1 10mL auto pipettes, safety glasses,
an ultra violet light and a camera to capture the results are needed to complete the experiment.

My Name In My Family
Often names are chosen for a variety of different reasons; maybe the parents just liked it, it might
be a name that s in the family for generations, or maybe it s chosen to pay homage to someone
that was lost. The story of how my name, Jessica Lorraine , came to about began many years
before my birth. There are countless reasons my parents chose my first and middle name, but the
biggest decision they had to make was choosing my first name. Through the years before my birth a
tragedy struck my family, and it brought great heartache to many. Although this tragedy brought
great sorrow to the members of my family, my parents were able to take this pain and form it into
a base for the name of their next child. A few years before my birth, in 1998, the death of my uncle
Jason Crowe struck my mothers side of the family. His unexpected death affected the whole
family; he had a large influence on everyone he met and had close relationships with all four of
his siblings, including my mother Lorraine. Since this greatly affected my mother, she wanted to
remember him in a special way. What other way to honor someone s life than naming one of your
children after them. I wanted to have my second child s name start with a J, just like Jason s. My
mother thought and then told her idea to the rest of her family and my father, Andy.
To begin the search, my parents rummaged through different baby books trying to find the perfect
name for their next child. They went through a variety of

The Collective History Of Scotland
Both Robert Burns and William Wordsworth use the past in their poetry to inspire readers to change
their future but the two poets go about it in very different ways. Burns focuses on the collective
history of Scotland, drawing on its folk songs, national heroes and culture to create revolutionary
sentiment in his readers. Wordsworth sits at almost the other end of the spectrum he focuses in on
the past of individuals and how their futures could be changed through their mind sets.
Unlike Wordsworth, who forges a connection with nature through quiet contemplation and
observation of the natural world, Burns connection with nature is mediated through his experiences
working on farms. This means that both authors approach nature and the Earth in very different
ways. Wordsworth calls upon the readers to leave the cities they inhabit and to go out into the
country, in order to meditate on the emotions and experiences brought about by truly looking at
the landscape. While this is one way to expand one s mind it was not achievable by most of the
urban working class of the time. Wordsworth, as a member of the upper classes, had more leisure
time to go out into the countryside and there to do but experience the scenery. The Urban
working class of this era would not have had the free time to do so. They were busy working long
hours doing hard physical labour almost every day. To take this time off would have cost them in
missed hours they could have been working and money they could

Research Paper On Cultural Relativism

Cultural Relativism
To debate or argue on Cultural Relativism first we need to define what cultural relativism is.
Cultural relativism is a concept stating that any individual s views and beliefs should be understood
in terms of his own culture by everyone else. It denies the superiority of any culture over others on
any means. Different cultures have their own different moral codes and values. Those can be
similar or very different from other culture s moral code. Hence the concept of universally true or
universally right is disregarded by this concept. It says that every culture s code is right in its place,
the truth is relative. For a cultural relativism supporter, the right thing to do for anyone will be the
one which is stated in the person s culture, no matter what he thinks is right or what the world says
about it. The great sociologist William Graham Sumner says that the right thing is what our
ancestors have been used and have handed us. The culture and tradition gives a warrant, it should or
need not to be put in question. He says that the notion of truth is inside a culture. Whatever is right
in a particular culture, it is right to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even then, killing a child is always the last option; adoption is also willingly carried forward.
This point is emphasised here to say that just by looking with a bird s eye, we should not judge

but analysing it deeply can actually help us to respect different views considering the similarity in
the values and still encountering so many different beliefs. The Eskimos values are not that

Ex Machina Analysis
As technology rapidly advances, the notion of artificial intelligence is becoming less of a science
fiction pipe dream, and more of a reality for our future. In his film, Ex Machina, Alex
Garland takes a thoughtful approach to the question of what it is to be an artificially conscious
being. Throughout the movie, Ava demonstrates many human like behaviors, yet nothing to
indicate that she is clearly conscious.
Nathan s ultimate test for Ava s sentience is whether she develops any actual feelings for
Caleb or attempts to manipulate Caleb into letting her escape. Nathan explains that to do either of
these she must use self awareness, imagination, sexuality, and empathy to get Caleb to like her
(Ex Machina 1:15). While Ava did demonstrate many... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Conversely, Ava explains to Caleb her first drawing is of what she sees when she closes her eyes
(Ex Machina 0:26). While Pollock s painting was created through emotion and feeling with no
actual thought going into it, Ava s painting was entirely pre visualized; she painted exactly what
she sees when she closes her eyes. While seemingly inconsequential, Garland uses the paintings to
convey the idea that the human mind and artificial mind are very different and ultimately do not
function in the same way. While the conscious mind can act on emotional sensation, the
programmed mind can only act on observation. Garland further emphasizes this point through the
film s setting. Nathan s house is a sleek, futuristic laboratory in the middle of a lush forest. Garland
uses this stark contrast in setting to represent differing origins, the forest where humans evolved
and the lab where AI was created. Once again, these completely different settings gave rise to two
very different forms of intelligence, the innate, sentient consciousness of the human mind, and the
programmed, unfeeling intelligence of Ava.
Alex Garland demonstrates in his film what he believes it means to be a conscious

Essay on Discrimination in the Workplace
Discrimination in the workplace occurs when an employee experiences harsh or unfair treatment
due to their race, religion, national origin, disabled or veteran status, or other legally protected
characteristics. Discrimination is one of the biggest problems people face in the workplace and it
must be dealt with forcefully.
There are different ways of discrimination that occur very often in the workplace. One way of
expressing discrimination is denying one a job because of his/her race or gender, or treating
others unfairly because of his/her race or gender. Discrimination can lead to quitting a job, and

All employers have a responsibility to treat and pay women, what they deserve with respect
Discrimination will probably always be in the workplace.
Age discrimination is an issue today, more than ever especially when companies seek to avoid
having to pay retirement or medical benefits and do so by firing older employees who might be
about to invest in their pension or who might need medical attention. Another reason is that older
employees may be paid more than new hires, so companies replace older workers with new
workers just for that reason. This type of change is in addition to those who are simply biased
against older workers and who take any opportunity to remove older works and bring in new blood
Age discrimination is mainly toward the older (60 +) and younger (14 17) people in their early
teens. Many Americans have been fired, forced into retirement, or turned down from a job due
to their age. Older age employers are discriminated against in the workplace because of
appearance and their ability to do the work required is believed to slow. Employers are more
likely to hire a person who is much younger and more attractive than an elderly person. Also,
employers want to employ people who are able to do the work required. This is another way in
which older people are discriminated against even though they may be very capable to do the job.
The Age Discrimination Act of 1975 prohibits discrimination on the basis of age in programs and
activities

Masculine societies tend to focus on competition, strength and dominance, contrarily, feminine
societies have a tendency to concentrate on being caring and supportive. Medelyn described
Honduras as a place where relationships tended to be more caring, traditional and supportive. My

collectivities cultures value community, collaboration, shared interests, harmony, the public good,

is more of a collectivist society, given the description of community being valued rather than
individuals, meaning that people care for the welfare of the society. Context was the subject of my

Four Major Themes In Borderlands La Frontera By Gloria...
Borderlands Essay
What I m going to talk about is four major themes from the book, Borderlands La Frontera by
Gloria AnzaldГєa. The four major themes I chose to talk about are first, how you shouldn t be
ashamed of yourself, then how AnzaldГєa shows deviant behavior throughout the book, also, how
she found herself through poetry, and lastly, America s melting pot.
Don t Be Ashamed of Yourself When reading the book, Borderlands La Frontera, AnzaldГ
єa is
basically telling us don t be ashamed of who you are. In chapter two, AnzaldГєa starts off by talking
about how being raised as a Catholic, it was taught that being a homosexual was a choice and it is
not something you genetically inherited (AnzaldГєa, 2012, p. 41). AnzaldГєa, who is a ... Show

The woman is supposed to clean, and cook for her family. Also, a woman is supposed to listen to
her husband and not disobey. Women are made to feel like total failures if they do not get married
and have children, so in their culture they are seen as deviant. AnzaldГєa talks about how when she
was younger she knew that she something was wrong with her. She started talking about her
deviant behavior of how she refuses to take orders from authorities. She wouldn t take orders from
her parents and she wouldn t do chores. There was a rebel in her. She called it The Shadow Beast
(AnzaldГєa, 2012, p. 38).
AnzaldГєa was seen as a deviant because she was a lesbian. This time, she wasn t just seen as a
deviant to America, she was seen as deviant to her own culture. In her culture, as a woman,
AnzaldГєa is supposed to marry a man. AnzaldГєa was raised as a Catholic and was taught that
being a homosexual was a choice and it is not something you genetically inherited. If a woman
does not marry a man she is a Mujer mala, meaning a bad woman (AnzaldГєa, 2012, p. 38).
AnzaldГєa felt like an alien. Who would want to be disowned by their family, or even the whole
village? People usually blame the kid s parents for the kid being a homosexual. You can t come out
of the closet because if you do, then you not only ruin your reputation, you ruin your family s
reputation.

Risk Allocation Essay
RISK ALLOCATION IMPORTANCE IN PROJECT STRUCTURING AND CURRENT
PRACTICES
I.Introduction
Project finance is best understood in terms of a risk allocation which reconciles the potentially
conflicting objectives of borrowers and lenders by utilizing the long term economic and commercial
linkages between the sponsors, lenders and third party participants involved with a project.
(Howcroft Fadhley, 1998).
In theory, the basic principle of risk allocation for the project finance is Allocating project risks to
the most suitable participant whose risk preference is higher (Xiao, 2003).
Severe consequences follow from the failure to accurately identify and allocate risks. These
consequences often extend beyond the immediate parties to the ... Show more content on

In this paper, an extensive literature review is undertaken to evaluate the importance of risk
allocation to project stakeholders and discuss current practices. However, the complexity of this
topic is beyond the scope of this paper. Hence, the attention is towards the direct participants, even
though other stakeholders will also be tangentially mentioned. Also, as PPP is developing fast in
the area of project finance and its importance is increasing, I have used it to illustrate some of the
points made in the current risk allocation practices.
II.Importance of risk allocation in structuring from the angle of stakeholders
The structure of a project s financing depends on the industry the transaction is taking place, the
underlying business model and in particular the allocation of risks and responsibilities between the
individual partners (Weber Alfen, 2010).
Risk allocation is performed as part of the development of the project structure, which takes into
account the distribution of responsibilities and risks during the planning, construction, financing
and operating phases (Corner, 2006). The aim is to identify an efficient and effective structure that
optimises the costs of the project and ensures that the risk occurrences do not damage the project
(Delmon, 2009). According to Grimsey and Lewis (2007) risk allocation has two elements: optimal
risk management and value for money. The first implies that the

A Rose For Boland s Fond Memory
Eavan Boland s Fond Memory is a poem which is used to explore the poets past, acting as a
vehicle for returning to the days of her childhood. This poem is written with the intent to confront
a past memory and creates a relationship between Boland as a young girl and the woman she was
when she wrote this. Through the use of literary techniques we become a part of the journey that
Boland undertakes in order to go back to her childself and speak about her memories. This is a
very personal poem as Boland is sharing part of her life with us. The personal element to the poem
allows a relationship to be formed with the reader as she engages with our emotions. The
relationship between the poet and the reader creates a stronger image of the young lonely girl that
Boland is writing about.
The use of imagery in Fond memory is reflective of what it was like as a young Irish girl growing
up in London. The separation between Boland and the other children is represented through the
negative imagery that she uses to describe them, all the children wore darned worsted, reflecting
her dislike towards them. It is interesting that the same negative imagery isn t used when she
describes herself, I dressed in wool as well the descriptions are separate so the reader views them
as two separate identities, mirroring how Boland was viewed at the time. By emphasising the
hostility that she felt as a child, Boland is also revealing that as an adult she still harbours
resentment towards the

City of Middlevale
City of Middlevale Annexation Negotiation
MGT/445
January 9, 2012
The City of Middlevale is introducing a plan to annex properties currently outside of the city limits.
The annexation process is due to budget constraints and the cities inability to continue funding
emergency services to these outlying areas. The citizens in the proposed annexed areas will be
required, if the annexation is passed by the state legislature, to pay city property taxes and city sales
tax on purchases made in Middlevale. The citizens residing in the unincorporated area are either
lower income households or elderly. Most moved to the unincorporated area to avoid paying the

At first, few, if any, of these fears and concerns will be discussed openly. Neither party wants to
expose themselves to additional risk. They may be concerned that exposing their fears will cause
the other party to view them as weak and vulnerable. Most fears center on the party s potential for
loss (Karrass, 1995). These include loss of control, loss of face, loss of resources, and loss of
stability. Neither the City of Middlevale nor the citizens want to lose their positions or interests.
Both must be prepared to communicate respect to each other s views. Neither party should enter the
negotiation in a head on confrontational manner. Both parties should allow the other to be open in
their communication, listens carefully to each other s position and interests, and summarize what
is said to clarify understanding. Once both parties have expressed their needs, they must seek
alignment.
Once a foundation of understanding has been created, the City of Middlevale, and the citizens must
pursue a line of discussion that aligns them both toward a common win. They should begin by
summarizing their own interests. These are the key elements both parties want to take away from
the negotiation. At this point in the negotiation, neither party should lock into a fixed position or
final solution to the problem. Instead, they both should emphasize commonality in their interests

Kanye West The Antihero Analysis
What is happening to Kanye West? At this point, it s anyone s guess.
Everything that can be said has been said about the Chicago rapper s abnormal behavior and
illogical ramblings over the past month, which currently range from West espousing on dragon
energy to claiming that African Americans in the 1800 s chose to be enslaved. It s safe to say these
accounts do not dissuade the infamous image that West s constructed since his musical debut in the
early 2000 s, though for many, his statements as of late have damaged their view of the artist
beyond repair.
While Kanye is certainly no stranger to criticism, the newest wave of public disapproval feels
different. Media outlets and fans alike are hesitant to fully embrace the rapper s trademark ... Show

In light of his previous antics, many theorized that Kanye s career would be remembered more for
his troubled persona than his characteristic talents in many ways, that fear became a reality.
Arguably, the reason my parents know Kanye West exists is not due to his creative output I m
positive my dad could not name a single song from My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy but
because he s a controversial figure and married to Kim Kardashian. The image that instantly comes
to mind when West s name enters the conversation is not of the soul sampling producer, but the
rambunctious tabloid icon. In the eyes of some fans, these ramblings coupled with Kanye s
endorsement of President Trump deprive the musician of any credibility and call his entire
discography into question.
After all that s happened, should Kanye West still be considered a genius? I believe the better
question to ask is, was Kanye West ever a genius in the first place?
If one were to go about answering this inquiry simply based solely on his achievements, the
answer should be an overwhelming yes. The artist s approach to music shaped an entire generation
and forever changed the way the medium is marketed, sold, and digested. Music will forever be

Diotima s Speech Analysis
Through the speakers presented in the Symposium, Plato showcases a variety of viewpoints about
the essence, worth, and expression of love. Though it can be argued that Plato suggests that love
is determined by how an individual chooses to interpret it, I will be arguing that he supports the
idea that there is a difference between true love and false love. These differences in the forms of
love can be seen through the ideas expressed in Pausanias speech, Eryximachus speech, and finally,
Diotima s speech which was expressed through Socratesspeech. While the first two speech serve to
portray that there is a difference, Platoshowcases his opinions through Diotima s speech. She
defines true love as the appreciation of the abstract idea of Beauty.... Show more content on

Her argument is similar to theirs in the sense that they all establish a clear divide between
different types, or levels, of love. In Diotima s case, the false part of false love doesn t mean
incorrect, but means that it is the beginning stage that is on the path towards true love. Being on
the lower parts of the ladder would be expressing false love in this case, but this false love has the
potential to turn into true love. Using Diotima s speech and Socrates comments and recollection of
their conversation proves that Plato is in agreement with this perspective. Diotima was not present
to recite her speech in The Symposium, but her speech was recounted by Socrates. The fact that
her speech was recounted in this fashion shows Plato s agreement with her perspective, because
he is known for including his commentary and viewpoints through Socrates in his books. This is
further proven in translator R.E. Allen s comments about the Ladder of Love section when he
states, It has been suggested that in the opening words of this section, Plato intimates that what
is to follow goes beyond the teaching of the historical Socrates, that the revelation of the
transcendental Form of Beauty is peculiarly Plato s own. (78). This allows for Diotima s
comments on love to be read as Plato s and it is highly likely that he is contributing his own
thoughts in his recollection of the conversation between Diotima and Socrates. Plato also usually
agrees with Socrates, and since Socrates uses his conversation with Diotima in his speech, Plato
agrees as well. Because he agrees with her perspective, he believes that there is a difference
between true and false love, based off the differences that Diotima noted in

The Sand Child Essay
In The Sand Child, Tahar Ben Jelloun composes a multi layered tale about Ahmed, a woman
socialized as a man, who struggles to reclaim her sexuality. Ben Jelloun contrasts gender and
sexual orientation to suggest that a person s characteristics can be shaped and changed by will,
but his sexuality is predisposed and will be the deciding factor of how he will act and identify
himself within his community. Ahmed, a product of society, is raised as a man and thus exhibits
characteristics of a man. To receive the privileges granted to men, Ahmed conceals her feminine
physique by binding her chest. Furthermore, her father trains her to be aggressive because society
expects violence in men and weakness in women. My father gave me a blow...and... Show more

Even Ahmed becomes compliant as she finds her path to womanhood, further emphasizing that a
person s characteristics can be conformed. She says ...if I had been simply an ordinary girl. I
believe I would not have been able to live and accept what my sisters and the other girls in this
country have to endure. I don t believe I am better than they, but I sense within me such
determination, such rebellious strength, that I would probably have upset everything (119).
However, her actions speak differently from her words. As a developing woman, Ahmed, renamed
Zahra, shows signs of meekness and submission, in contrast to her previous ruthlessness, to the
circus owner and her son. Zahra had given up the use of speech. She wept, and the tears flowed
down her face... (110). Zahra, once domineering, is now compliant. Ahmed alters her personality
because she, as well as the Islamic society, associates womanhood with obedience. Although
Ahmed is socialized as a man, her innate sexuality drives her to reclaim her womanhood. As a
child viewed by society as a boy, Ahmed shows no interest in the daily lives of women. In the
hammam with her mother, Ahmed says, I would get bored, but I had no choice. In fact, I would
have preferred to go to the baths with my father. He always bathed very quickly and spared me all
that interminable ceremonial (22). Ahmed shows no desire to associate with women until after she

stands out in the first two stanzas: iniquity and inequity . According to Webster s dictionary,
inquity is defined as gross injustice; a wicked act or thing and inequity is defined as injustice,
unfairness; an instance of injustice or unfairness (Merriam Webster) Here Ms. Hill sets the tone
for the rest of the poem. She explains that the unfairness of iniquity and inequity is a miserable
feeling. She is talking directly to those that share her unfortunate circumstances of being treated
unfairly in a state of misery. The pre verse that follows the hook brings the topic of religion into
view. The first four lines in the pre verse symbolize Biblical meaning and give way to religious

A Comparison Of Emily Dickinson And Rupert Dickinson
Since the emergence of written history, many fables regarding war have encompassed a significant
portion of prosodic literature. Two of the foremost war poets of the 19th and 20th century Emily
Dickinson and Rupert Brooke have both written about profound implications of war on society and
also upon the human spirit albeit in two very different styles. The book, Catcher in the Rye by J.D
Salinger, theorizes through Allie, that Emily Dickinsonwas indubitably the superior war poet.
Furthermore, when we analyze their works as well, we realize the invariable fact that Dickinson
s work delves into war with a much more holistic approach as well. She not only honours the
soldiers for their valiant efforts, but also deftly weaves notions of liberty and civilian duty in
regards to war as well as compared to Rupert Brookewho carried a romanticized imagery of martyrs
within his poetry. In summation, Emily Dickinson is a superior war poet for her incisive analysis
of death, and human nature in correspondence to war as compared to the patriotic salvos of
Rupert Brooke s poetry. Death is an ubiquitous aspect of war; in virtually all wars, the sacrifice
of soldiers is necessary for fruition. One of the reasons why Emily Dickinson could be considered
a superior war poet to Rupert Brooke would be her method of deftly taking a more holistic approach
to death within her poetry. For instance, Dickinson attempts to emphasize with the martyrs who
perished in war. She wants to know whether the

Tare Research Paper
Scholars believe tares are darnel (a noxious weedy rye grass often found in grain fields), whose
seeds become toxic when certain fungi infest them, which in turn, renders them harmful to cash
crops such as wheat. Uprooting them also uproots the wheat; therefore, farmers leave them in the
ground until harvest time when the chaff can be safely separated from the grain and subsequently
burnt. Good and evil similarly co exist in the local church, which underscores the for all people
aspect Church. However, problems arise when error receives equal voice to the Truth. The Truth
shakes up the Church. Only Christ (The Word of Truth) can separate wheat from tares, truth from
falsehood, and fact from fiction. Like an ox, threshing grain tied to a millstone, the worshiping
church must circle God s Truth threshing out disciples. Do not muzzle an ox while it is treading

Christ s work. Because it was a common activity in ancient times, the Old Testament often mentions
threshing grain. For example, Solomon built his temple on the threshing floor David bought from

The Cerebellum
The little brain, or cerebellum, in many ways resembles a smaller version of the cerebral cortex
(e.g., it contains two distinct hemispheres) and is located just behind and underneath it. The
cerebellum works as an integrator, allowing us to control and process our perceptions and motor
movements. Many neural pathways link the cerebellum with both the cerebral cortex and the spinal

and using this information to direct our movement.
Because the cerebellum modifies motor movement rather than producing it, damage to the
cerebellum causes movement related difficulties rather than paralysis. These difficulties tend to be

Innovative Technologies during the Civil War
Throughout the first half of the nineteenth century, there were many new inventions, and innovative
technologies that played a major role in the civil war. At the time of the Civil War, many of the
newfound war weapons in the Union proved essential for its victory. The new weapons showed a
great change in the technological world. During the time of the Civil war, Pistols, and other basic
handheld, guns were very popular, for a soldier to have. It was known for its capability of hitting
a target from a short distance. Before people started changing the way weapons were, a small

Leadership Opportunities Of The Youth Association Pee Wee...
Leadership opportunities abound not only in the work setting, but in churches, communities, and
neighborhoods as well. By taking on community leadership roles, individuals give back to the
community and gain valuable experience that will serve them well in the workplace. In my own
experience, I led the Chantilly Youth Association Pee Wee Soccer program for three years. In this
capacity, I created schedules, reserved fields and gyms, ordered uniforms, arranged for the
training of officials, collected money, and created teams for over 500 young children. I had a
vision for the program and helped it grow.
While Pee Wee Soccer is not rooted in a faith filled tradition, faith based leadership skills apply.
Running such a large program affords the opportunity to teach as Jesus did, at least with respect to
community and service, and gain valuable insight into organizational behavior. Perhaps the most
essential lesson learned is that to be successful, it is important to consider the needs of everyone
involved, and not merely the needs of a few.
Catholic School Leadership
The skills gained through Pee Wee Soccer prepared me well for the leadership roles I undertook
in my early years as a Catholic school teacher. Whether in the role as Math Committee chairperson
or as leader of the Word Study program, developing a vision, articulating that vision, and seeing it
through to completion helped me gain support from my peers and colleagues as I took on more

Market Failure
Introduction
A key cause of climate change is the failure of the market system to efficiently allocate resources to
deal with extensive negative externalities, specifically those caused by carbon based gases polluting
the atmosphere. Failure in the market system is having a extravagant impact on atmosphere. The
allocation of resources is affecting the environment but more specifically the carbon based gases are
polluting the atmosphere. This is resulting in global climate change. Potential solutions will be
analysed throughout this essay to prevent market failure. The solutions that will be considered are
environmental taxation, government regulation and trading in marketable permits e.g. carbon
credit market.
Market Failure ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Market failure is portrayed through this diagram as the optimum output is higher then the
equilibrium resulting with spillover costs.
Property rights enable the parties to place a price tag on externality through negotiation, creating
opportunities for both sides. The owner of property rights can negotiate with the party causing the
negative externality. The owner will seek compensation for the cost of the externality (Jackson,
Mciver, Bajada 2007:209). This is another issue regarding over allocating resources, as property is
a commonly held resource. The externalities involved with property rights can be good for both
sides. Depending on the negotiation the owner can cause negative externality because they have
property rights and can decide what to do with the property. The party involved will seek
compensation for the externality but this can lead to a reduction in output. So properties are
another resource where market failure can occur.
Environmental taxation
Environmental taxation is when the government taxes items that are effecting the environment to
cover the externality cost. The government taxes mostly on carbon based emissions as they are a
major contributor to the climate change. Automobiles are a major contribution to effecting the
environment. As shown below cars are the highest percentage on impacting the climate.
Producers and consumers of automobiles are not required to compensate

Criminal Mistakes
Why are mistakes made when it comes to solving crimes, and what can we do to make sure those
mistakes do not happen? As important as it is to capture a criminal, you would think there would
never be mistakes made as to who the criminal really is. Unfortunately, these mistakes happen way
more that I thought they did. So how do these mistakes occur? Well, in some situations the lighting
may be very dim and it may be hard for the witness to make out what the criminal looks like (Frueh,
2014). Also, in situations involving a weapon of some sort, the witness may be so distracted by the
weapon that they do not pay enough attention to the person holding that weapon (Frueh, 2014). The
time between when the crimehappened, and when the witness spoke

The Success Of The American Revolution
The thirteen American colonies wanted to be free from rule by Great Britain. Freedom would make
it possible to create a new kind of government without a king. In the democracy envisioned by the
country s earliest leaders, Americans would govern themselves based on certain principles or ideals.
Few people at the time thought that the American Revolutionwould succeed and the Americans
could win a war against the world s greatest empire. At the beginning of the war, there was no
regular American army, just a militia made up of civilians and most of them were farmers.
Naturally, they were not used to long campaigns or battles with British Regulars, and thousands
quit. General Washington begged the Continental Congress to provide a regular army of men
enlisted for a long term, but Congress felt that step would violate civil liberties. It was only after
so many American defeats threatened the war effort that Congress agreed to offer extra pay to
officers and privates and pledged to see the war to an end. By 1775, tension between the colonies
and the mother country had reached the breaking point. British troops in Boston learned that the
colonists had hidden a large collection of weapons in nearby Concord. Sons of Liberty Paul
Revere and William Dawes rode to warn of the impending British attack by way of the Charles
River; the most direct route. Just as the sun was rising on April 19, 1775, British soldiers reached
Lexington. Eight Minutemen were killed and several others

How Can Remedy Of Eco Labeled Products So That They Match...
In this section, I will explain how we can remedy each of the causes in the previous section in
order to close the green gap . By finding possible solutions to these causes I will discuss possible
ways to increase purchases of eco labeled products so that they match consumers survey results and
intent.
A commonly discussed solution would be to internalize the price of environmental degradation
into the price of all goods, so they are priced accurately. This would eliminate economic negative
externalities. This would increase the price of all goods, but it would increase the price of non
green products much more than eco labeled products, thus making eco friendly products the less
expensive product. Given that this paper is from the perspective of an individual marketer who
would not have the power to make this wide sweeping change, we are focusing on solutions to can
be practically implemented by marketers.
We can begin to close the gap by educating consumers about the benefits of eco labeled goods.
According the Ogilvy Earth, the marketing research firm, We need to simplify mental accounting
and translate the murky benefits of sustainability into something immediate and concrete (Bennett
and Williams 87). Many people don t see the effect these products have on the environment
because the effect is so far removed from their immediate lives. Right now the effects of eco
friendly products are a far off concept that don t hit close to home for consumers. Pope Francis

A critique of Ehrlich, David E, and Donald G Rainnie. Prenatal Stress Alters The Development Of
Socioemotional Behavior And Amygdala Neuron Excitability In Rats .
1.0Background
The research is discussing the effects of prenatal stress (PS) on the development of socioemotional
symptoms as well as neurodevelopmental disorders. The study arises from existing literatures
where a significant relationship has been established between prenatal stress and social deficits
such as autism and attention deficit hypersensitivity disorder among children and schizophrenia
among adolescents. King et al. identifies exposures to environmental hardships and stressful
events as the underlying factor in the development of PS (274). The aspect has a negative impact
on the immune and endocrine system as well as neurological development (Charil et al. 56).
Studies have revealed that PS affects several aspects of brain development in the fetal stage. It
increases rate of cell death and reduces rate of proliferation in the hypothalamus pituitary axis
(Schoenfeld and Gould 15).
The research argues that PS affects the amygdala, a socioemotional control center in the brain that
plays a significant role in the pathogenesis of neurodevelopmental psychiatric disorders. The claim
is backed by several studies. PS plays a major role in abnormal psychological, cognitive, and
behavioral outcomes in both human and animals. Charil

Preludio, By Nisha Coleman
Busking in Paris is the second oldest profession in this beautiful city. There are many mistaken
beliefs about buskers. Mostly, buskers are recognized to be homeless, unemployed, drug addicts,
etc. Some are. But some are also artists like Nisha Coleman. Coleman shaped her story Preludio by
her work as a busker in Paris. She went to Paris, with a slim budget, a language level of French
sufficient enough to help her with small interactions with others, her violin, and an extreme
craving for free will. Her status as a sans papier and as a musician inform the way she tells this
story as she based her whole story on these information s.
Coleman shaped her story Preludio by her work as a busker in Paris. She always wanted to live
free. Eat, sleep and work only when she wanted to. A new lifestyle seduced her, as much as a new
adventure and she decided to come to Paris. Her story is shaped by her work as a busker and we
can recognize it just by how she describes her lifestyle in Paris. How she came with nothing, but
her violin; ready for a new experience. In Preludio, Coleman gives another image of buskers. ...

She makes her story depends on these facts. Her whole experience, her whole story, the way she

as a tourist. She describes Paris as a musician. As a busker, in a free will point of view. Which
give, the reader, a unique and different interpretation of Paris. She didn t make a great deal
about the Eiffel Tower, which in general every person that has been in Paris will talk about first.
She genially portrays us the streets of Paris, the metro, people and her interactions with people.
Those are easier information s for the lector to relate to than the view of the Eiffel Tower for
example. Her description of Paris familiarizes and transports the readers really in Paris, which

The Origins of Star Wars
The Origins of Star Wars Not so long ago in a galaxy a bit closer to home, George Lucas crafted
one of the most iconic movies of all time. That movie was soon followed by a series of mind
bending movies that captured the hearts and minds of generations up to this day. From light saber
duels to the destructive power of the Death Star, Star Warsis one movie saga that we are all familiar
with. But how did this captivating series come to be? How did it all begin? Just how did George
Lucas come up with such brilliant ideas for Star Wars? What are the true origins of Star Wars?

From their philosophies to the way they do battle to the way the dress, the powerful Jedi Knights of
the Star Wars galaxy have clear parallelisms with our galaxy s Samurais. Examples of these
parallelisms are the robes that the Jedi used are quite similar to the robes that the Samurai used,
another one is the Japanese katana that the Samurais used in battle and the Light Saber that the
Jedi used to keep the peace. George Lucas also borrowed ideas from other samurai movies such
as Sanjuro and Yojimbo both by Akira Kurosawa. Apart from having Asian origins, Star Wars
also has Western background. One of the earliest science fiction graphic novels known to man is
Flash Gordon. It s clear why George Lucas took some of Flash Gordon s concepts and applied it
with his own films. Flash Gordon however, also borrowed it s concepts with an even earlier sci fi
comic strip: Buck Rogers. One of the clearest similarities between Star Wars and Flash Gordon is
the signature roll up that is present in the start of every Star Wars movie. One less noticeable
similarity is the vocabulary of Flash Gordon (which was also taken from Buck Rogers). Since
Flash Gordon and Buck Rogers were the only ones that mentioned of futuristic space travel and
intergalactic battles, George Lucas based the vocabulary of Star Wars on these two science fiction
works of his time. The technology and the gadgets of Flash Gordon and Buck Rogers were also of
great influence

The Journey Of Aeneas From Virgil s Aeneid And The...
At a first glance, the journeys of Aeneas from Virgil s Aeneid and Saint Augustine in his
autobiography The Confessions, do not seem to have much in common. In Confessions, Augustine
embarks on a spiritual journey, while Aeneas endures a physical one. After closely reading both
texts, readers can see the powerful, striking connection between Saint Augustine s journey and
Aeneas. The Confessions serves as a personal inspiration to readers by showcasing Augustine s
journey towards God, and His presence throughout that journey. Aeneas ability to overcome
hardships because of his belief in the gods and divine grace, is closely related to Augustine s
ability to be exposed to God s mercy and companionship, even when he did not have faith in Him,
because of the notion instilled in him by God. Divine Providence is evident in both The Aeneidand
The Confessions through examples such as, characters enduring storms as a result of the gods, or
dreams confirming that God is in complete control of the world. Although Augustine has strayed
from God, God remains with him. Throughout The Aeneid, Aeneas showcases divine grace, divine
Providence, and self sacrifice, which makes him relate more closely with Augustine s journey of life
than the one written by Virgil. Divine grace can be defined as the divine influence within humans,
which inspires them to resist temptation and endure tribulations. It also signifies the reawakening
of people to God. Throughout The Aeneid, Aeneas faces many

One Mile Of Ice Analysis
One Mile of Imagery To place a reader in the mind of a character, the author must create a
scenario which will appeal to the senses, and keep readers intrigued. The technique of building
imagery can successfully transform the world around the reader, and connect them to the story.
One Mile of Ice by Hugh Garner uses many imagery building techniques to place readers in the
mind of a man on the verge of death. In this story, Hugh Garner tells the tale of two brother in
laws, Ralph and Pete, who venture off into town, accompanied by mare and sleigh, to get presents
for the children for Christmas. However, their journey takes a very dark turn not too far into their
adventure. The crisp winds become a blinding storm, in which Ralph and Pete are forced to fight
for their lives. Unfortunately, only one man survives Pete. One Mile of Ice uses visual components
to build imagery, as well as tactile techniques to throw readers into the mind of the protagonist.
Alongside this, the author uses auditory traits to reproduce the true terror experienced in this story
by these brother in laws. Visual imagery is often the first step to subconsciously sending the reader
into a parallel state of mind as the protagonist, and letting them experience what the characters
experienced throughout the story. The visuals used in the beginning of this story convince readers
that they have been placed in a safe, secure environment, therefore having a positive effect on
readers when they

personal belongings which could vary from shoes to destroying furniture. The subject is a one
year old male Australian Shepherd mixed with Dachshund. He has a unique color scheme
consisting of mainly black and white with a hint of brown. Considering the variety of colors
found in his coat, I created the name, Storm. I live in an apartment complex, therefore the
subject is an inside dog and only goes out to use the restroom. The subject is a happy and healthy

week. Another way to assist in helping him understand good vs. bad behavior, is to commend
him with words, which would be like saying good boy or actions such as patting him, when he is
chewing on one of his own toys. (quote) However, when he starts to chew on one of my items, I
will tell him no and then lead him to his crate. (Insert QUOTE HERE ) By doing this, it helps

Anne-Marie Slaughter s Why Everyone Can Have It All
Why Nobody Can Have It All But Should Be Able To Most people dream for their entire lives of
having the perfect, high paying job, or maybe starting a family. There seems to be a stark divide
between those who want to move higher up in their career fields, versus those who would rather
focus on home life. The strange thing is that it is nearly impossible to accomplish both of these
things at the same time: especially if you are a woman. In Anne Marie Slaughter s article Why
Women Still Can t Have It All, she writes of her difficulties splitting her efforts between her busy
work life and taking care of her children. Others have tried to oppose this position by saying that it
is not just a women s problem, and that men also have difficulty... Show more content on

Dorment tried to persuade the reader of the opposite, that men are at the disadvantage, however
there are many important details that he overlooks. One of the times that Dorment somewhat
contradicts himself is when he explains that sixty percent of all bachelor s and master s degrees
go to women, but, There are about as many women in the workforce as men, (698). While at first
glance this quote implies that women are at an advantage when it comes to education, it actually
displays a downfall in the plight of women trying to get jobs. Not only is there a slightly smaller
amount of women working than men, but if women are getting about sixty percent of the degrees,
they should logically also be getting sixty percent of the jobs. It is evident that there is a problem
that needs solving if women who are more qualified are not getting jobs that less qualified men are.
Another misstep that Dorment takes is mentioning, more than once, the famous song Cat s in the
Cradle by Harry Chapin, which is well known for making fathers feel guilty and worried about
missing out on spending time with their children (701, 708). While the sentiments expressed in this
commonly known song may very well be what working fathers feel every day, it is difficult to
sympathize with men when their main pressure to stay home with their families comes from

Inflation And Unemployment Essay Abstract The main aim of this study is to investigate the existence of trade off relationship between inflation rate and unemployment rate in Namibian economy between 1991 and 2014 the perspective of Phillips curve by using the Ordinal Least Square (OLS) method. The results of Augmented Dickey Fuller test shows that all variables are stationary at level and the integration test shows that they integrated at level I(0). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Chapter one Introduction For years now economist have been debating about inflation and unemployment whether it is possible to achieve both of this main macroeconomic goals , which is low inflation and low unemployment in the economy at the same time without harming the economy. In this case it remains one of the challenge that face most of developing countries that include Namibia, to sustain the low inflation and low unemployment rate. Philips curve was emerged in 1960 in United Kingdom, was named after A. W. Philips the founder of Philips curve. Philips curve suggested that there is inverse relationship between inflation and unemployment and there are three assumptions of Philips curve: the first one is that in the short run there is trade off between unemployment and inflation. The second assumption is that aggregate supply can break the concept of Philips curve because it can cause the stagnation that is high unemployment and high inflation. And the final assumption is that in the long run there is no significant trade off between unemployment and inflation. The economist like (McConnell 16th edition) has best interest to identify their relationship; in the short run there is trade off between unemployment and inflation. In this view different studies in different countries have found out ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. US Budget Deficit Essays The annual United States budget has been steadily rising over the past decade. The projected federal budget for the 2012 fiscal year is going to be $3.7 million dollars compared to the $1.9 trillion in 2001. The 2012 budget is just a hundred million less than the 2011 year budget, according to the Congressional Budget Office. The reason for this ongoing rise in the federal budget can be acclaimed too the few financial crises that the country has faced. Beginning with September 11th attacks, to the housing bubble bursting, to the recession hit in 2007. The combination of all these major financial breakdowns, along with the hundreds of other fiscal responsibilities that the government holds has lead America into a very big budget deficit.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even though it can be seen that the problem lies in the fact that there is just not enough money to go around, the cause is rooted much deeper. It can all be traced back to the amount of money the government actually receives as revenue. The government is just a big business and the way it makes money is taxing the people that it governs over. The government just doesn t have any other way of making money. Tax revenue accounts for about 75% of the federal budget. During the 2010 fiscal year, the United States government collected about $2.16 trillion dollars in tax revenue. About 42% of these taxes are from individual income taxes; another 40% from Social Security taxes and the rest are split between excise, estate, and corporate taxes (cbo.gov). The United States uses what is called the progressive tax system. Which means the more you make, the more taxes you pay. Tax revenue has become a very hot topic in the past few months, mostly due to the fact of a recent group of people who call themselves Occupy Wall Street . These people protest on Wall Street in New York on an everyday basis. They sleep there, eat there and basically do whatever they want. This protest does not have a unified cause, but the general conclusion that can be drawn from everyone is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. My Name In My Family Often names are chosen for a variety of different reasons; maybe the parents just liked it, it might be a name that s in the family for generations, or maybe it s chosen to pay homage to someone that was lost. The story of how my name, Jessica Lorraine , came to about began many years before my birth. There are countless reasons my parents chose my first and middle name, but the biggest decision they had to make was choosing my first name. Through the years before my birth a tragedy struck my family, and it brought great heartache to many. Although this tragedy brought great sorrow to the members of my family, my parents were able to take this pain and form it into a base for the name of their next child. A few years before my birth, in 1998, the death of my uncle Jason Crowe struck my mothers side of the family. His unexpected death affected the whole family; he had a large influence on everyone he met and had close relationships with all four of his siblings, including my mother Lorraine. Since this greatly affected my mother, she wanted to remember him in a special way. What other way to honor someone s life than naming one of your children after them. I wanted to have my second child s name start with a J, just like Jason s. My mother thought and then told her idea to the rest of her family and my father, Andy. To begin the search, my parents rummaged through different baby books trying to find the perfect name for their next child. They went through a variety of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. The Collective History Of Scotland Both Robert Burns and William Wordsworth use the past in their poetry to inspire readers to change their future but the two poets go about it in very different ways. Burns focuses on the collective history of Scotland, drawing on its folk songs, national heroes and culture to create revolutionary sentiment in his readers. Wordsworth sits at almost the other end of the spectrum he focuses in on the past of individuals and how their futures could be changed through their mind sets. Unlike Wordsworth, who forges a connection with nature through quiet contemplation and observation of the natural world, Burns connection with nature is mediated through his experiences working on farms. This means that both authors approach nature and the Earth in very different ways. Wordsworth calls upon the readers to leave the cities they inhabit and to go out into the country, in order to meditate on the emotions and experiences brought about by truly looking at the landscape. While this is one way to expand one s mind it was not achievable by most of the urban working class of the time. Wordsworth, as a member of the upper classes, had more leisure time to go out into the countryside and there to do but experience the scenery. The Urban working class of this era would not have had the free time to do so. They were busy working long hours doing hard physical labour almost every day. To take this time off would have cost them in missed hours they could have been working and money they could ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Research Paper On Cultural Relativism Title: Cultural Relativism Name: Prerna Singh Roll No.: 13110082 Word Count: Cultural Relativism To debate or argue on Cultural Relativism first we need to define what cultural relativism is. Cultural relativism is a concept stating that any individual s views and beliefs should be understood in terms of his own culture by everyone else. It denies the superiority of any culture over others on any means. Different cultures have their own different moral codes and values. Those can be similar or very different from other culture s moral code. Hence the concept of universally true or universally right is disregarded by this concept. It says that every culture s code is right in its place, the truth is relative. For a cultural relativism supporter, the right thing to do for anyone will be the one which is stated in the person s culture, no matter what he thinks is right or what the world says about it. The great sociologist William Graham Sumner says that the right thing is what our ancestors have been used and have handed us. The culture and tradition gives a warrant, it should or need not to be put in question. He says that the notion of truth is inside a culture. Whatever is right in a particular culture, it is right to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 12. Ex Machina Analysis As technology rapidly advances, the notion of artificial intelligence is becoming less of a science fiction pipe dream, and more of a reality for our future. In his film, Ex Machina, Alex Garland takes a thoughtful approach to the question of what it is to be an artificially conscious being. Throughout the movie, Ava demonstrates many human like behaviors, yet nothing to indicate that she is clearly conscious. Nathan s ultimate test for Ava s sentience is whether she develops any actual feelings for Caleb or attempts to manipulate Caleb into letting her escape. Nathan explains that to do either of these she must use self awareness, imagination, sexuality, and empathy to get Caleb to like her (Ex Machina 1:15). While Ava did demonstrate many... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Conversely, Ava explains to Caleb her first drawing is of what she sees when she closes her eyes (Ex Machina 0:26). While Pollock s painting was created through emotion and feeling with no actual thought going into it, Ava s painting was entirely pre visualized; she painted exactly what she sees when she closes her eyes. While seemingly inconsequential, Garland uses the paintings to convey the idea that the human mind and artificial mind are very different and ultimately do not function in the same way. While the conscious mind can act on emotional sensation, the programmed mind can only act on observation. Garland further emphasizes this point through the film s setting. Nathan s house is a sleek, futuristic laboratory in the middle of a lush forest. Garland uses this stark contrast in setting to represent differing origins, the forest where humans evolved and the lab where AI was created. Once again, these completely different settings gave rise to two very different forms of intelligence, the innate, sentient consciousness of the human mind, and the programmed, unfeeling intelligence of Ava. All employers have a responsibility to treat and pay women, what they deserve with respect Discrimination will probably always be in the workplace. Age discrimination is an issue today, more than ever especially when companies seek to avoid having to pay retirement or medical benefits and do so by firing older employees who might be about to invest in their pension or who might need medical attention. Another reason is that older employees may be paid more than new hires, so companies replace older workers with new workers just for that reason. This type of change is in addition to those who are simply biased against older workers and who take any opportunity to remove older works and bring in new blood Age discrimination is mainly toward the older (60 +) and younger (14 17) people in their early teens. Many Americans have been fired, forced into retirement, or turned down from a job due to their age. Older age employers are discriminated against in the workplace because of appearance and their ability to do the work required is believed to slow. Employers are more likely to hire a person who is much younger and more attractive than an elderly person. Also, employers want to employ people who are able to do the work required. (Howcroft Fadhley, 1998). Also, as PPP is developing fast in the area of project finance and its importance is increasing, I have used it to illustrate some of the points made in the current risk allocation practices. II.Importance of risk allocation in structuring from the angle of stakeholders The structure of a project s financing depends on the industry the transaction is taking place, the underlying business model and in particular the allocation of risks and responsibilities between the individual partners (Weber Alfen, 2010). Risk allocation is performed as part of the development of the project structure, which takes into account the distribution of responsibilities and risks during the planning, construction, financing and operating phases (Corner, 2006). The aim is to identify an efficient and effective structure that optimises the costs of the project and ensures that the risk occurrences do not damage the project (Delmon, 2009). • 21. A Rose For Boland s Fond Memory Eavan Boland s Fond Memory is a poem which is used to explore the poets past, acting as a vehicle for returning to the days of her childhood. This poem is written with the intent to confront a past memory and creates a relationship between Boland as a young girl and the woman she was when she wrote this. Through the use of literary techniques we become a part of the journey that Boland undertakes in order to go back to her childself and speak about her memories. This is a very personal poem as Boland is sharing part of her life with us. The personal element to the poem allows a relationship to be formed with the reader as she engages with our emotions. The relationship between the poet and the reader creates a stronger image of the young lonely girl that Boland is writing about. The use of imagery in Fond memory is reflective of what it was like as a young Irish girl growing up in London. The separation between Boland and the other children is represented through the negative imagery that she uses to describe them, all the children wore darned worsted, reflecting her dislike towards them. It is interesting that the same negative imagery isn t used when she describes herself, I dressed in wool as well the descriptions are separate so the reader views them as two separate identities, mirroring how Boland was viewed at the time. • 28. Diotima s Speech Analysis Through the speakers presented in the Symposium, Plato showcases a variety of viewpoints about the essence, worth, and expression of love. Though it can be argued that Plato suggests that love is determined by how an individual chooses to interpret it, I will be arguing that he supports the idea that there is a difference between true love and false love. These differences in the forms of love can be seen through the ideas expressed in Pausanias speech, Eryximachus speech, and finally, Diotima s speech which was expressed through Socratesspeech. While the first two speech serve to portray that there is a difference, Platoshowcases his opinions through Diotima s speech. She defines true love as the appreciation of the abstract idea of Beauty.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Her argument is similar to theirs in the sense that they all establish a clear divide between different types, or levels, of love. In Diotima s case, the false part of false love doesn t mean incorrect, but means that it is the beginning stage that is on the path towards true love. Being on the lower parts of the ladder would be expressing false love in this case, but this false love has the potential to turn into true love. Using Diotima s speech and Socrates comments and recollection of their conversation proves that Plato is in agreement with this perspective. Diotima was not present to recite her speech in The Symposium, but her speech was recounted by Socrates. The fact that her speech was recounted in this fashion shows Plato s agreement with her perspective, because he is known for including his commentary and viewpoints through Socrates in his books. This is further proven in translator R.E. Allen s comments about the Ladder of Love section when he states, It has been suggested that in the opening words of this section, Plato intimates that what is to follow goes beyond the teaching of the historical Socrates, that the revelation of the transcendental Form of Beauty is peculiarly Plato s own. (78). This allows for Diotima s comments on love to be read as Plato s and it is highly likely that he is contributing his own thoughts in his recollection of the conversation between Diotima and Socrates. Plato also usually agrees with Socrates, and since Socrates uses his conversation with Diotima in his speech, Plato agrees as well. • 31. A Comparison Of Emily Dickinson And Rupert Dickinson Since the emergence of written history, many fables regarding war have encompassed a significant portion of prosodic literature. Two of the foremost war poets of the 19th and 20th century Emily Dickinson and Rupert Brooke have both written about profound implications of war on society and also upon the human spirit albeit in two very different styles. The book, Catcher in the Rye by J.D Salinger, theorizes through Allie, that Emily Dickinsonwas indubitably the superior war poet. Furthermore, when we analyze their works as well, we realize the invariable fact that Dickinson s work delves into war with a much more holistic approach as well. She not only honours the soldiers for their valiant efforts, but also deftly weaves notions of liberty and civilian duty in regards to war as well as compared to Rupert Brookewho carried a romanticized imagery of martyrs within his poetry. In summation, Emily Dickinson is a superior war poet for her incisive analysis of death, and human nature in correspondence to war as compared to the patriotic salvos of Rupert Brooke s poetry. Death is an ubiquitous aspect of war; in virtually all wars, the sacrifice of soldiers is necessary for fruition. One of the reasons why Emily Dickinson could be considered a superior war poet to Rupert Brooke would be her method of deftly taking a more holistic approach to death within her poetry. For instance, Dickinson attempts to emphasize with the martyrs who perished in war. She wants to know whether the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Tare Research Paper Scholars believe tares are darnel (a noxious weedy rye grass often found in grain fields), whose seeds become toxic when certain fungi infest them, which in turn, renders them harmful to cash crops such as wheat. Uprooting them also uproots the wheat; therefore, farmers leave them in the ground until harvest time when the chaff can be safely separated from the grain and subsequently burnt. Good and evil similarly co exist in the local church, which underscores the for all people aspect Church. However, problems arise when error receives equal voice to the Truth. The Truth shakes up the Church. Only Christ (The Word of Truth) can separate wheat from tares, truth from falsehood, and fact from fiction. Like an ox, threshing grain tied to a millstone, the worshiping church must circle God s Truth threshing out disciples. Do not muzzle an ox while it is treading out grain (1 Cor 9: 9), St Paul warns. In other words, do not hinder or silence those who are doing Christ s work. Because it was a common activity in ancient times, the Old Testament often mentions threshing grain. For example, Solomon built his temple on the threshing floor David bought from Oman the Jebusite (1 Chron. 22:1). Another time, Ruth came to Boaz at the threshing floor. The Cerebellum Research Paper The Cerebellum The little brain, or cerebellum, in many ways resembles a smaller version of the cerebral cortex (e.g., it contains two distinct hemispheres) and is located just behind and underneath it. The cerebellum works as an integrator, allowing us to control and process our perceptions and motor movements. Many neural pathways link the cerebellum with both the cerebral cortex and the spinal cord. The cerebellum smoothly integrates these pathways, receiving feedback about body s position and using this information to direct our movement. Because the cerebellum modifies motor movement rather than producing it, damage to the cerebellum causes movement related difficulties rather than paralysis. By taking on community leadership roles, individuals give back to the community and gain valuable experience that will serve them well in the workplace. In my own experience, I led the Chantilly Youth Association Pee Wee Soccer program for three years. In this capacity, I created schedules, reserved fields and gyms, ordered uniforms, arranged for the training of officials, collected money, and created teams for over 500 young children. I had a vision for the program and helped it grow. While Pee Wee Soccer is not rooted in a faith filled tradition, faith based leadership skills apply. Running such a large program affords the opportunity to teach as Jesus did, at least with respect to community and service, and gain valuable insight into organizational behavior. Perhaps the most essential lesson learned is that to be successful, it is important to consider the needs of everyone involved, and not merely the needs of a few. Catholic School Leadership The skills gained through Pee Wee Soccer prepared me well for the leadership roles I undertook in my early years as a Catholic school teacher. Failure in the market system is having a extravagant impact on atmosphere. The allocation of resources is affecting the environment but more specifically the carbon based gases are polluting the atmosphere. This is resulting in global climate change. Potential solutions will be analysed throughout this essay to prevent market failure. The solutions that will be considered are environmental taxation, government regulation and trading in marketable permits e.g. carbon credit market. Market Failure ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Market failure is portrayed through this diagram as the optimum output is higher then the equilibrium resulting with spillover costs. Property rights enable the parties to place a price tag on externality through negotiation, creating opportunities for both sides. The owner of property rights can negotiate with the party causing the negative externality. The owner will seek compensation for the cost of the externality (Jackson, Mciver, Bajada 2007:209). This is another issue regarding over allocating resources, as property is a commonly held resource. The externalities involved with property rights can be good for both sides. Depending on the negotiation the owner can cause negative externality because they have property rights and can decide what to do with the property. The party involved will seek compensation for the externality but this can lead to a reduction in output. So properties are another resource where market failure can occur. Environmental taxation Environmental taxation is when the government taxes items that are effecting the environment to cover the externality cost. The government taxes mostly on carbon based emissions as they are a major contributor to the climate change. Automobiles are a major contribution to effecting the environment. As shown below cars are the highest percentage on impacting the climate. Producers and consumers of automobiles are not required to compensate ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Freedom would make it possible to create a new kind of government without a king. In the democracy envisioned by the country s earliest leaders, Americans would govern themselves based on certain principles or ideals. Few people at the time thought that the American Revolutionwould succeed and the Americans could win a war against the world s greatest empire. At the beginning of the war, there was no regular American army, just a militia made up of civilians and most of them were farmers. Naturally, they were not used to long campaigns or battles with British Regulars, and thousands quit. General Washington begged the Continental Congress to provide a regular army of men enlisted for a long term, but Congress felt that step would violate civil liberties. It was only after so many American defeats threatened the war effort that Congress agreed to offer extra pay to officers and privates and pledged to see the war to an end. By 1775, tension between the colonies and the mother country had reached the breaking point. British troops in Boston learned that the colonists had hidden a large collection of weapons in nearby Concord. By finding possible solutions to these causes I will discuss possible ways to increase purchases of eco labeled products so that they match consumers survey results and intent. A commonly discussed solution would be to internalize the price of environmental degradation into the price of all goods, so they are priced accurately. This would eliminate economic negative externalities. This would increase the price of all goods, but it would increase the price of non green products much more than eco labeled products, thus making eco friendly products the less expensive product. The study arises from existing literatures where a significant relationship has been established between prenatal stress and social deficits such as autism and attention deficit hypersensitivity disorder among children and schizophrenia among adolescents. King et al. identifies exposures to environmental hardships and stressful events as the underlying factor in the development of PS (274). The aspect has a negative impact on the immune and endocrine system as well as neurological development (Charil et al. 56). Studies have revealed that PS affects several aspects of brain development in the fetal stage. It increases rate of cell death and reduces rate of proliferation in the hypothalamus pituitary axis (Schoenfeld and Gould 15). The research argues that PS affects the amygdala, a socioemotional control center in the brain that plays a significant role in the pathogenesis of neurodevelopmental psychiatric disorders. At a first glance, the journeys of Aeneas from Virgil s Aeneid and Saint Augustine in his autobiography The Confessions, do not seem to have much in common. In Confessions, Augustine embarks on a spiritual journey, while Aeneas endures a physical one. After closely reading both texts, readers can see the powerful, striking connection between Saint Augustine s journey and Aeneas. The Confessions serves as a personal inspiration to readers by showcasing Augustine s journey towards God, and His presence throughout that journey. Aeneas ability to overcome hardships because of his belief in the gods and divine grace, is closely related to Augustine s ability to be exposed to God s mercy and companionship, even when he did not have faith in Him, because of the notion instilled in him by God. Divine Providence is evident in both The Aeneidand The Confessions through examples such as, characters enduring storms as a result of the gods, or dreams confirming that God is in complete control of the world. Although Augustine has strayed from God, God remains with him. Throughout The Aeneid, Aeneas showcases divine grace, divine Providence, and self sacrifice, which makes him relate more closely with Augustine s journey of life than the one written by Virgil. The technique of building imagery can successfully transform the world around the reader, and connect them to the story. One Mile of Ice by Hugh Garner uses many imagery building techniques to place readers in the mind of a man on the verge of death. In this story, Hugh Garner tells the tale of two brother in laws, Ralph and Pete, who venture off into town, accompanied by mare and sleigh, to get presents for the children for Christmas. However, their journey takes a very dark turn not too far into their adventure. The crisp winds become a blinding storm, in which Ralph and Pete are forced to fight for their lives. Alongside this, the author uses auditory traits to reproduce the true terror experienced in this story by these brother in laws. Visual imagery is often the first step to subconsciously sending the reader into a parallel state of mind as the protagonist, and letting them experience what the characters experienced throughout the story. • 54. Modifying Storm s Behavior Paper Modifying Storms Behavior Personal data regarding the subject The study I will be conducting is to modify my dog s behavior. The data that I am obtaining, will come from me observing my dog. Within this study, I am hoping to decrease my dog s bad behaviors such as tearing up my personal belongings which could vary from shoes to destroying furniture. The subject is a one year old male Australian Shepherd mixed with Dachshund. He has a unique color scheme consisting of mainly black and white with a hint of brown. Considering the variety of colors found in his coat, I created the name, Storm. I live in an apartment complex, therefore the subject is an inside dog and only goes out to use the restroom. The subject is a happy and healthy dog, who is up to date on all shots. Description of the target behavior He is an only dog, who spends most of his time indoors throughout the day. He is potty trained, so when I am at work or school, I allow him to roam... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Over a four week span, I will use a frequency measure to count how many times the behavior occurs each day. When Storm demonstrates a bad behavior, he will be put into the cage for an increment of time; which will vary from 20 minutes the first week down to 5 minutes the fourth week. Another way to assist in helping him understand good vs. bad behavior, is to commend him with words, which would be like saying good boy or actions such as patting him, when he is chewing on one of his own toys. • 55. Anne-Marie Slaughter s Why Everyone Can Have It All Why Nobody Can Have It All But Should Be Able To Most people dream for their entire lives of having the perfect, high paying job, or maybe starting a family. There seems to be a stark divide between those who want to move higher up in their career fields, versus those who would rather focus on home life. The strange thing is that it is nearly impossible to accomplish both of these things at the same time: especially if you are a woman. In Anne Marie Slaughter s article Why Women Still Can t Have It All, she writes of her difficulties splitting her efforts between her busy work life and taking care of her children. Others have tried to oppose this position by saying that it is not just a women s problem, and that men also have difficulty... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Dorment tried to persuade the reader of the opposite, that men are at the disadvantage, however there are many important details that he overlooks. One of the times that Dorment somewhat contradicts himself is when he explains that sixty percent of all bachelor s and master s degrees go to women, but, There are about as many women in the workforce as men, (698). While at first glance this quote implies that women are at an advantage when it comes to education, it actually displays a downfall in the plight of women trying to get jobs. Not only is there a slightly smaller amount of women working than men, but if women are getting about sixty percent of the degrees, they should logically also be getting sixty percent of the jobs. It is evident that there is a problem that needs solving if women who are more qualified are not getting jobs that less qualified men are. Another misstep that Dorment takes is mentioning, more than once, the famous song Cat s in the Cradle by Harry Chapin, which is well known for making fathers feel guilty and worried about missing out on spending time with their children (701, 708). While the sentiments expressed in this commonly known song may very well be what working fathers feel every day, it is difficult to sympathize with men when their main pressure to stay home with their families comes from ...
