The Use of Force
The Use of Force The point of view in the story The Use of Force is in first person narrative. This
conveys inner the inner thoughts of the narrator as the doctor. The doctor is a reliable narrator and an
observer. I feel that his personality is brought out in the doctor. So the doctors thoughts and behaviors
are a reflection of the authors. As for the setting it takes place at a family s home. I think it takes place
somewhere in the early 1900 s. I think it would make a difference to the story if it were set somewhere
else, only because if the sick girl was brought to like a hospital for example, maybe she would have
been diagnosed and helped sooner without all the hassle that occurred at the house. The diction of the
story is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So it didn t effect the point of the story. Something that really puzzled me in the story was when the
first old lady ran after Marian in the hall and sort of grabbed her by her hair and asked her for a penny.
I didn t understand that point and I don t think it made much sense to the story. The conflict in the
story is when Marian actually goes into the old women s room. The conflict isn t very clear, but its
very obvious there is a problem. The first old women is very outgoing, and the second old women, is
angry, and bitter. So there s a bit of clashing going on with them and it shows when they spoke to each
other. The events that led up to the plot are Marian going into the Old women s home, being in the
room and communicating with them til finally she gets so scared she runs out. The theme of this story
is also irony. Everything in the story conveyed the theme irony, only because everything seemed like
the opposite of what it should have been. For instance when Marian goes to the old women s home for
charity. The purpose of charity is to help people who cant help themselves, or to do something nice for
someone. In the story, Marian isn t doing it to be helpful, she is only visiting the old women for extra
points for her campfire girls. Another example of the irony was the old women constantly disagreed or
contradicted each other. One old women was overly optimistic and ignorant of Addies constant
negativity and rudeness towards her. You would expect

Does America Need the Patient Protection and Affordable...
The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. Is It What America Needs?
The US healthcare system is currently undergoing what is arguably its biggest change since its
enactment in 1935 with the Social Security Act. The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act was
signed into law on March 23, 2010 by President Barack Obama in an attempt to bring cost free
preventative care to all American citizens. And while this may sound like good news since it will help
take care of the 54 million Americans that were uninsured in 2010 when this Act was signed (Kocher
2010) not all of these changes to the healthcare system are beneficial. Many citizens will find
themselves penalized by the fees and requirements of the ACA, along with many others ... Show more

Not all of the aspects of the PPACA are viewed as positive however. Several portions of this act will
make cuts to necessary programs in order to finance the Act as whole. For example, the PPACA will
cut $575 billion from the Medicare budget in order to pay for the subsidies and tax breaks that the
program offers and many experts argue that this could not come at a worse time (Weinstein 2010). The
baby boomers are starting to come of age for Medicare and the program is going to be under more
stress than it has ever experienced before. To put it into perspective, 77 million individuals were born
during the baby boom between 1946 1965 and now with people projected to live up to 9 years longer
than when Medicare was instituted, there will be a higher demand for Medicare that will continue to
grow as more and more people become eligible (Keehan 2008). Furthermore, with this much money
being cut from Medicare, the money to fund it will have to come from other sources such as taxes.
Unfortunately, these taxes will be placed on the individuals too young to receive Medicare and these
will be added on to the new taxes that will come as a result of the PPACA. Even though the cuts made
by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act are trying to save money, they are made in the
wrong places and to the wrong programs causing more problems than benefits.
Many individuals and groups that oppose the plan are bringing to light all the new taxes

Analysis of Microsoft Financial Statements
Analysis of Financial Statements
Financial statements are frequently a key source of information for financial decisions and taking a
look at Microsoft s financial statements can help us decide certain things about the company. There
are three different types of statements that will be discussed in this section. These include: the balance
sheet, the income statement, and the statement of cash flows. They are discussed here in either the
sense of quarterly or yearly statements and will be noted as so. All information has been derived from
Yahoo Finance. (http://finance.yahoo.com) The first statement that will be analyzed for Microsoft is
the balance sheet. The balance sheet is essentially a snapshot of what the firm owns ... Show more

The final section of the statement of cash flows is the financing section, which shows the dividends
paid, the purchases of stock, the net borrowings, and other possible cash flows from financing
activities. A positive trend for investors is the fact that dividends paid has increased (even though it is
negative to the firm) as well as sale purchase of stock, from 2009 to 2011 and even increased quarterly
in 2011. The net borrowings is off an on from 2009 to 2011 possibly because of certain funds needed
in particular years. In 2009, it was $5,746,000,000 and in 2010, it was $190,000,000. It shot back up
again in 2011, with $5,960,000,000. The three statements that were provided in this section provide
possible investors, competitors, and even those within the company with useful information to make
important decisions that could affect their livelihood or the livelihood of Microsoft. Keep in mind that
even though financial statements are a solid indicator of how a company is performing, one key
principle about must be known when viewing them to make decisions. They do not always provide all
of the information that you may need. There are usually underlying topics that could affect the
company that are not necessarily showing up on their financial statements. These topics are discussed
in other sections of this report on Microsoft.
We feel it important to compare Microsoft s ratios not only to other companies and industry norms,

Word Learning And Language Of The World s Different...
Words are the essential part of communication in all of the world s different languages. Most adults
understand thousands of words, and the majority of people master a vast vocabulary of words. Word
learning and language are perhaps two of the more complex developmental achievements in human
evolution, they stand out because of the conceptual and linguistic organization (Waxman, Lidz, 2006).
This complex process has been very well studied in human infants and literature about this topic is
abundant. Infants gather words and phrases from the human language to which they are exposed to
and make important advances in areas such as conceptual and linguistic domains. Furthermore, infants
learn words with extraordinarily speed; this gathering of words is so fast that some researchers argue
that there must be specialized mechanisms that deal with word learning (Gleitman, L. R., Cassidy, K.,
Nappa, R., Papafragou, A., Trueswell, J. C. 2005). These specialized mechanisms for word learning
are associated with fast mapping, which means that a word meaning is deduced from very few
exposures to that specific word. The ability of children to fast map is regarded as proof of the
astonishing efficiency of early word learning (Dollaghan, C. A. 1987). There is certainly great
knowledge about word learning in human infants; however, this subject has not been studied
extensively in animals. One of the few researches in this topic suggests that a dog also have the ability
to learn words

Psychology Assumptions
We all hold assumptions about the world and how it works. These assumptions frame our
understanding of God, ourselves, others, and life and how to be successful in life. These assumptions
affect our understanding and interpretation of facts and of events that occur in our lives. As Aristotle
said, It s not the facts that divide men, but the interpretation of the facts (as cited in Hummel, 1986, p.
23). Our assumptions are acquired, often unconsciously or uncritically, by our own experiences and by
what we have been taught about life by others. They become a lens by which we view reality.
Entwistle (2010) writes that, the world is seen through the lenses of our assumptions (p. 134). If the
lens is distorted, our view of reality will be distorted. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The physical sciences have a more objective means of measuring and testing subjects. What is the
temperature of the sun? What is the value of the proton mass? What is the structure of a DNA
molecule? These all have physical proper ties that can be measured and tested. Psychology is more
subjective than the physical sciences and therefore more open to interpretation. Myers (2014)
understands psychology as a science that seeks to answer such questions about us all how and why we
think, feel, and act as we do (p. 1). Questions such as, Who are we? What produces our thoughts? Our
feelings? Our actions? And how are we to understand and manage those around us? (Myers, 2014, p.
2). Answers to questions like these are profoundly affected by our presuppositions. For example, if I
believe that people are inherently good and not affected by sin, I m going to answer these questions a
certain way. If I believe that people are created in the image of God, but fallen and being redeemed, I
m going to answer them differently. How I respond to people and circumstances will also be different.
So examining and understanding my own presuppositions as well as those of the theorists I am
studying is important if I am going to be more objective and discover the

HISTORY OF MANAGEMENT THOUGHT AND ITS LEGACY FOR TODAY S WORLD
But I m coming to believe that all of us are ghosts .... It s not just what we inherit from our mothers or
fathers. It s also the shadows of dead ideas and opinions and convictions. They re no longer alive, but
they grip us all the same, and hold on to us against our will.

What went wrong in this example? A number of very bright people spent a lot of time re designing a
task to make it more efficient, but ended up with poorer performance, employee dissatisfaction, and
probably higher hiring and training costs. The well intentioned managers at Hovey and Beard ignored
the lessons of history. They introduced what most managers believed were methods to improve
efficiency without considering the likelihood of undesirable side effects. It was these side effects,
however, that caused efficiency to decline instead of increase. For these reasons, among others, this
chapter explains the development of management thought and shows why the application of some still
popular concepts and techniques do not always work out as planned.
EARLY MANAGEMENT
The practice of management can be traced back in time thousands of years. The Chinese bureaucracy
was, for example, fully developed into a hierarchy of officials based upon a merit rating system
perhaps as early as 1000 B.C. One of the most ancient terms used to describe the position of a
manager is that of vizier in Egypt. The title was in use around 1750 B.C. and probably earlier. The rule
of ten in the span of management was an Egyptian practice of allocating around 10 servants to each
supervisor. The ancient concepts

Carbon Dioxide And Its Effect On Earth
Carbon Dioxide is a colorless, nonflammable gas, with no smell. It accounts for about .04% by
volume of the air in the atmosphere and is naturally occurring. It can be found in the human body,
oceans, atmosphere, and within the Earth s mantle. This molecular compound is notated as CO2 and is
made up of one carbon atom and two oxygen atoms. Carbon dioxide is also used for many different
things. For example, carbon dioxide is use for your soft drink and soda products such as sprite, sierra
mist and pepsi just to name a few. Another thing carbon dioxide is use for is food such as ice cream
and frozen food the dry icy is an effect of carbon dioxide. Oxygen is the third most abundant element
in the universe. It makes up about twenty percent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Experts agree that carbon first appeared on Earth in a reduced, abiotic form. Carbon is found in all
meteorites, and historically, the prevailing view was that all atmospheric carbon found on Earth was in
the form of carbon dioxide (Shaw). Recently, however, this viewpoint has been disproved for a
number of reasons. The first is that geological evidence would be present if the atmosphere was full of
carbon dioxide, which is lacking. The second reason is the delay in oxygenation of the atmosphere
following the development of the first oxygen producing microbes. The third reason is the
longstanding balance between carbonate carbon and biogenic carbon at a ratio of about 4 to 1 (Shaw).
This suggests that it was unlikely that the atmosphere was full of carbon in the form of carbon dioxide.
It is believed that the early ocean held most of the carbon. The primordial soup theory suggests that
the early ocean had a high concentration of photochemically produced complex organic compounds as
well as oxidized sediments, which slowly released carbon dioxide into the atmosphere (Shaw). These
factors are also the same factors that likely lead to the initial evolution of primitive life in the ocean.
This explanation better fits the geological timeframe for the oxygenation and buildup of carbon
dioxide in the atmosphere (Shaw). A common theory for the presence of carbon dioxide in the Earth s
atmosphere is the

Failure Philosophy
Let your failure be your motivation to success. Winona Bhushan. Why is failure the key to everything?
When climbing a tree, you are bound to fall until you learn from your mistakes. Anything below a
hundred percent grade on any given task is failure. These are just two of infinite possibilities of
failing. Failure is the result of an action to put it bluntly. There are three poems to help understand this
philosophy even further. These include the poem Caged Bird written by the poet, Maya Angelou,
Mother To Son, written by the poet, Langston Hughes, and last but certainly not least, The Road Not
Taken, written by Robert Frost. The works of literature listed above all revolve around each other in a
special way. In each scenario, one reflects on their past in an indirect way of speaking about their
decisions or actions. Though, the real question is, how does failure affect these three individuals, and
how they did they move past it, or through it? When one feels caged, they are feeling as though they
are trapped in their own negative feelings, telling themselves that because of their past failures, they
can only talk about how they can t accomplish anything. This is the case in the poem, Caged Bird, by
Maya Angelou, in which it states, The free bird thinks of another breeze / and the trade winds soft
through the sighing trees / and the fat worms waiting on a dawn bright lawn / and he names the sky his
own(Angelou) This means that the free bird, who may be described as someone who has it all, or has
had little to no experience with devastating failure. On the other hand, the poem states, But a bird that
stalks / down his narrow cage / can seldom see through his bars of rage / his wings are clipped / and
his feet are tied / so he opens his throat to sing. (Angelou) This differentiates from the free bird,
because the caged bird is described as one who is being restricted into his own limits, basically. One
of the things holding him back is his own experiences, while the free bird wonders what is on the
other end of the spectrum, as he is handed fat worms and is greeted by soft winds. The poem written
by Maya Angelou is supposed to show perspective, on one end the bird is thought of as free, with no

Essay about Spanish Resistance to Napoleon
Napoleon and the Spanish Resistance
Throughout time, the military has been considered one of the key features in a civilization. It has been
considered the heart and soul of many countries and empires and has been the center of many cultures.
Throughout history we have seen many military leaders and military powers. We have seen military
techniques and technology change as we progress. Our schools are filled with legends of great war
heroes and hard fought battles. One such hero is Napoleon Bonaparte, perhaps one of the greatest
generals who ever lived. In his adventures and conquest, as general of the French army, he warred
against many lands. These included Spain, in which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some guerillas will even use crowds to conceal themselves, called urban guerillas. Urban guerillas
have to rely heavily on support from the citizens. Guerilla warfare basically relies on one standard.
The element of surprise. Often, guerillas will not be in uniform and carry just a concealed weapon. By
doing this it helps the guerillas startle the enemy and catch them off guard, giving them the clear cut
advantage. Also, the enemy is always in a state of fear, never knowing when or where these guerillas
could pop out and attack. They are constantly on watch and they tire easily. By using guerilla warfare,
forces are able to lower they re casualties while increasing their opponents, even if they are winning
cheap. Because they often time use cowardly tactics, guerillas are usually considered terrorists by their
opponents. Sometimes however, this can be true. Guerillas in some cases have used propaganda, or
started revolts to win over their cause. Instead of trying to defeat their enemy, they try to create chaos,
hoping to drive their enemy out. Massive riots and sabotage are not at all uncommon in guerilla wars.
All in all, guerilla warfare is the use of unconventional war tactics used against enemies that follow
these conventional laws.
Now that we have cleared that up, lets move to the actual events that took place. Spanish resistance
was mainly part of the Peninsular War, or as some call it, Napoleon s

Gender and Movie Selection Essay example
Gender and Movie Selection
Introduction:
A very diverse, broad, and extensive industry is the filmmaking industry. However, the unique aspect
of the industry is that it is so expansive in all of the different categories and types of movies, but yet
each film is individualized. A certain characteristic of a movie may appeal to one person and not
another. Such characteristics may not only appeal to an individual but to a certain group of people.
Could it be that characteristics of a film appeal to either the male gender or the female gender? Is there
a difference in the category of movie that a male chooses as opposed to one that a female chooses?
Such questions prove to be very interesting and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the observation, I observed ten males and ten females in the video section of Giant Eagle at
7:00pm on a Friday night. All of the twenty subjects were of college age and appeared to be at the
store alone. I specially looked for the type of movie each person would select. By doing this
observation, I anticipated to see what people really choose. Since the subjects were unaware that I was
watching them, they had no pressure to select a certain type of movie and could chose freely. In other
ways of collecting data such as a survey or interview, people may be reluctant to be honest about some
details. Through observation, there were no doubts if the subject was being dishonest because they
freely chose the movie without even realizing I was watching them.
A second route that I chose to collect data was to administer a survey to ten college age people. Of
these ten people, five of them were females and five of them were males. The survey was given to
these people while they were in their college dorm rooms. There were six questions on the survey,
including a gender question, how many movies does the subject watch in an average month, and what
are these movies classified as, adventure or romance/romantic comedy. The final two questions dealt
with who the subject mostly watches movies with and if they normally get to choose the movie when
watching one

Sara Bareilles Gravity
Gravity written by Sara Bareilles over the years has had many different interpretations since its release
in 2004, but for the purpose of this analysis the lens being utilized will be one through which the
elements of a song about a toxic relationship between two people can better be evaluated. Bareilles
uses the raw emotion of her voice and backing of instrumentation to allow listeners to better relate and
identify with her work as all are taken into the story relating to her first real heartbreak. This three
minute and fifty two second ode to toxic love begins with a simple, quiet piano lead in then supported
by string instruments (violins, ect.). The simplicity of the score highlights the significance of the lyrics
and the ultimate problem ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The dynamics of the instrumentation match the dynamics of Bareilles voice, never overpowering her
or the lyrics of the song. The majority of the song is sung in a gritty, and raw mixed voice with
employed head voice at the ends of phrases and the first chorus. This manipulation of vocal timbre
and register help the emotional intention of the song better connect in the ears of the listeners. Starting
out the vocalist has an almost raspy like quality voice to her voice as she sets up the scene for her
audience but as the piece progresses more of the grit and raw emotion arise in the climb to the climax.
The percussive quality of the bridge further drives the understanding of how toxic the relationship was
for the singer. Bareilles moves from a clear mixed voice to a full chest voice or belt to match the
intensity of the bridge provided by the accompaniment. At two minutes and fifty three seconds
Gravity climaxes on the word down which is held for eight counts on C5 at an acapella vocal

imagery of the poem makes clear how much they want to achieve success. The lines Success is
counted sweetest / By those who ne er succeed. (1 2) in simple words, means that those who do not
often achieve success, appreciate it more than those who achieve it more than others. These first two
lines of the poem also depict how people tend to desire things more deeply when they do not have
them. The following lines To comprehend a nectar / Requires sorest need (3 4), develop a self evident
truth by offering a pair of images that symbolize it. The first is nectar, which is a symbol of triumph

One of the most famous leveraged buyouts (LBOs) that have has been studied is the RJR Nabisco

LBOs have ability to acquire smaller companies that have very little capital and the acquired company
can benefit from organization and reform. Simply, LBOs can prevent shutdown needed of a company.
On the other hand, LBOs could possible display hostile takeovers and due restructuring, downsize the
acquired company which in turn can have large impact on employees. Moreover, due to management
buyout, there could be a conflict of interest among employees and management, including
mismanagement by the buyout owners. RJR was anticipating the increased popularity of tobacco
consumption, and in 1913 introduced four new brands, which was a very risky move on their part. For

Competitive Advantage Through Value Chain And Vertical...
We are living in a world, where technology keeps changing on day to day basis. In this ever changing
world of technology, the question is how are some companies doing better than the others and what
are they doing to maintain competitive advantage? Rise of technology has given birth to competition
by giving companies new ways to perform at higher levels and this has also led to the ways companies
are producing their products and services. Technology has affected several sections of an organization
by having an impact on business communications, company s HR practices, and organizational
changes. Therefore, in order to gain and maintain competitive advantage, a company must do one of
the two; either produce goods/services at a lower cost or produce innovative products in a way that
leads to differentiation and a premium price.
Section 1: Competitive Advantage through Value Chain and Vertical Integration
Companies are using value chain approach to better understand which key areas will give them the
greatest edge over its competitors. They are focusing on each division, distribution centers, pricing,
product innovation, selling techniques, and value chain formations.
Value chain is an important notion that highlights the role of information technology in the operations
of a company. A Value Chain is the whole series of activities that create and build value at every step.
The total value delivered by the company is the sum total of the value built up all throughout the

Why China Has A Growing Middle Class
Due to recent advances in technology, communication, and transportation, companies are no longer
confined to just one country to market and sell their products in. This has presented many companies
with global opportunities. China, one of the fastest growing countries in regard to economy and
population, presents a very appealing market to businesses looking to expand. China has a growing
middle class that no longer has to be as price sensitive (Barton, Chen, Yin, 2013), and this is good
news for American companies that have a strong brand name and do not necessarily rely on a cheap
price to sell their goods. China is also experiencing an increased demand for biscuits and crackers, but
many people are also becoming more health conscious ( Entering the Biscuit Market in China: There
is Still a Chance, 2014). These presents Nabisco, a strong brand name in the United States, the perfect
opportunity to expand their graham cracker line into China.
Nabisco s graham crackers do not have too much variety in the United States. Its Honey Maid line
consists of honey, vanilla, chocolate, and cinnamon flavors. Nabisco also produces Honey Maid
Dippers and Teddy Grahams that are smaller than the original graham crackers and are perfect for
smaller hands. The graham crackers are sold by box sizes ( Varieties, 2016). These can be purchased at
almost every grocery store and are typically found in the cookie and cracker aisle. As mentioned
before, China has the potential to be a viable

Manipulation In Shakespeare s Othello
Otello takes Shakespeare s Othello and turns it into an Italian Opera. While the two are similar in
many ways, it is their differences that set them apart and enhance the meaning of the play. Otello
begins in Cyprus at the end of the defeat of the Turks, and the beginning of Iago s plot to destroy
Othello. During the celebration of Othello s return, Cassio sings his praises for Desdemona, and seems
to begin to arouse Othello s suspicions early on. Iago s plan to ruin Othello and Desdemona s marriage
and tarnish Cassio s reputation continues seamlessly through his manipulation of Othello s thoughts.
He points him towards Cassio and Desdemona s more flirtatious behaviors during the feast, quickly
angering him. Iago lacks the subtlety that he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The effects of every character s actions come full circle, and are slightly different from Shakespeare s
original ending. Instead of allowing Iago to merely become a prisoner to be tortured later, Othello
takes out his anger on him and murders him. Iago is unable to survive because of his evil deeds and
his effective manipulation of Othello. In some ways, he brought about his own demise by doing too
well in his manipulation of his enemy. He enraged Othello so much that he felt compelled to enact his
revenge by killing Iago, who brought about his mental destruction in the first place. This alternative
ending illustrates the power of rage over one s mind and body, and places emphasis on the immorality
of Iago s manipulations. Iago is not the only one who suffers from the consequences of Othello s loss
of sanity. Desdemona s death is much more brutal than it had been originally. Instead of suffocating
his wife in bed, Othello violently strangles Desdemona to death, and he doesn t attempt to talk himself
out of ending her life like he does in Othello. Othello s actions are much more deliberate and merciless
as a direct result of his domination by jealousy.
Overall, Otello illustrates more plainly the destructive qualities of various emotions while Othello tells
a story of jealousy and betrayal while addressing issues of racism and sexism. This film enhanced my
understanding of the emotions felt by the characters and the impact of these emotions both mentally
and physically on both the individual and those around them. However, the film lacks the political
commentary and overall meaning that Othello holds. In the end, the film and book are best in
conjunction to bring out the strengths in

influence of General Zia al Haq on women s rights; this will be illustrated by examining Pakistani
government policies on women before, during, and after his rule. The historical and contemporary

Along with the Hudood laws came the Zina Ordinances, which are a part of the Islamic defined
reform system of the legal and social structures (62 ROUSE). These ordinances sought to modify laws
in order to conform the existing Islamic laws with the Law of Evidence and the Law of Blasphemy
(KHAN 1). They were related to adultery, fornication, rape, and prostitution, matters that mostly
involve women (JEFFREY BASU). Under the Zina Ordinances, a predetermined punishment is
assigned to offenders based on the reading of Sura, Chapter 24, and verse 2 of the Qur an (Khan 2).
The woman and the man Guilty of fornication Flog each of them With a hundred stripes Scholars who

stripes was only to be applied to unmarried persons. If you were married and found guilty of
fornication, the traditional punishment was death. Under the Zina Ordinances, this became the first
time in Pakistan s history that illicit sex became a crime against the state, punishable by death (Khan
2). If it cannot be proved that rape occurred, then the act of sex becomes a crime against the state. No
woman has been put to death under these laws but frequent whippings occurred (Khan 3). Also among

Cruel Optimism Analysis
The writer may suggest that one should not focus their attention on the topic of abortion, but rather
live life to the fullest. The author mentioned cruel optimism as an ideology that people intend to
achieve in order to become happy in the society. The writer quotes
Cruel optimism names a relation of attachment to compromised conditions of possibility whose
realization is discovered either to be impossible, sheer fantasy, or too possible, and toxic. What s cruel
about these attachments, and not merely inconvenient or tragic, is that the subjects who have x in their
lives might not well endure the loss of their object or scene of desire, even though its presence
threatens their well being; because whatever the content of the attachment is, the continuity of the
form of it provides something of the continuity of the subject s sense of what it means to keep on
living on and to look forward to being in the world (94). The author may argue that in the society,
some human beings may experience cruel optimism, in the sense that if the source of one s happiness

‘Swan Lake was re choreographed by Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov in1895, after initially being
choreographed by Julius Reisinger in 1877. The musical score was composed by Pytor Tchaikovsky.
‘Swan Lake was created towards the end of the romantic period, so the culture and style of
romanticism was prominent, with glimpses of the beginning of the classical era. Because of this, it
contains elements of both eras. Some of the romantic characteristics include the pursuit of the
unattainable, romance, fantasy, focus on the female role, gas lighting and simple sets, pointe work,
soft and feminine technique for females and the bell tutu. Some of the classical features include the

shown in the plot of ‘Swan Lake , along with a few from the classical Ballets. A theme of romance
between Odette and Prince Seigfried, is evident with their oath of undying love for each other.
Romance was very important in a classical ballet, as the romantic era affected peoples emotions, and
Although the plots may be fictional, the themes were always real and universal Also the pursuit of the

instead wanting to be with someone living a cursed life. For the working class in Russia, the ballet
was an escape, and seeing someone pursue for something they want was a source of motivation for the
audience. Also themes of the supernatural are shown, with the sorcerer, von Rothbart, enchanting
beautiful maidens. The supernatural themes helped the audience mentally escape from real life, so was
popular for the working class.

Realism In Art And Art In The 19th Century
Realism began in France in the 1840 s. It was the first unconventional, anti institutional art movement.
It challenged Neoclassicism and Romanticism by diverting every ones attention to more social issues
which were brought by the disturbed and raging 19th century. In simpler words, Realism was, opposed
to the Romanticism ways of merely representing nature, an approach to art to position oneself in the
real , whether it was scientifically, morally, constitutionally, or even theoretically. When it comes to
theoretical beliefs, Realism incorporated the progressive aims of modernism. This was done through
pursuing new certainties, by reconsidering and capsizing customary systems of philosophies and
morals.
The realistic works developed with the introduction of photography. Through it, an invention of
representations was created and they looked accurately factual. ... Show more content on

Romantic emotionalism as well as classical naivety was banned entirely. From this era onwards, artists
felt the freedom to portray real life situations without aesthetics. Realism influenced impressionism
and many other contemporary art styles as it imitated a liberal modification in the prominence and
purpose of art overall. To this day, the characteristic style still manages to impact visual arts and thus
can be viewed as revolutionary. In the words Stokstad, Realism, reflected the positivist belief that art
should show unvarnished truth, and realists took up subjects that were generally regarded as not
important enough for a serious work of art . It depicted how the realm esteemed working men only for

Street Traffic, Safety, and Accidents
Roads are the backbone and essential modes of transportation, providing many different supports for
human civilization. Among the early and inexpensive technologies available for developing
comprehensive traffic, management proposals are Road capacity, traffic sign (i.e. pavement markings,
road sign, etc.), Guard rails, cross marking etc traffic calming, vehicle parking regulations and
controls, pedestrian measures, accident reduction programs, Bus priority measures. As technology
evolved, application of Intelligent Traffic System (ITS) was introduced. (Olaogbebikan J. E et al.
2013). Street lighting also improves safety for drivers, riders, and pedestrians. They concluded that on
average the presence of street lighting reduces the severity of injuries by a factor of 3.
Intelligent transportation systems (ITS) are advanced applications which, without embodying
intelligence as such, aim to provide innovative services relating to different modes of transport and
traffic management and enable various users to be better informed and make safer, more coordinated,
and smarter use of transport networks. Roadways are, unfortunately, the scene where preventable
urban fatalities take place. Pedestrians unknowingly crossing busy streets; drivers distracted by their

A Report On Uav Traffic Safety
Abstract The purpose of this paper is to review some UAV traffic concerns. UAV traffic is increasing
tremendously over the past decade. There have been a number of mid air collisions with UAVs
crashing into commercial aircraft or into each other. They are big enough to cause more engine foreign
object damage than a bird strike. This is because they are made of stronger material and plus they have
batteries on board that can cause severe damage to aircraft. Air traffic controllers need to know how
many UAVs are operating in their area of responsibility and know exactly where they are. The FAA
has adapted to the some of the new UAV laws, but this paper will show where they are lacking some
rules and regulations involving UAV traffic.
Introduction This paper is going to demonstrate the importance of UAV traffic control. It will review
some previous mid air collisions with both UAVs colliding with each other and with commercial
aircraft. It will include some of the causes like lack of technology to detect UAVs and other aircraft,
air traffic controller centers lacking technology, and the FAA lacking rules and regulations addressing
the UAV population increases. The technology has to communicate back and forth from the UAV to
the operator and back. This can become a problem because of hacking threats. The main concern of
this paper is to propose an efficient and secure air traffic control of UAVs.
In the article Secure routing in UAV , the three

Why Is Shakespeare The Licorice Of Literature
Shakespeare: The Licorice of Literature Shakespeare s works are commonly taught in the American
public education system. For every student who claims they d rather walk on nails or some equally
gruesome alternative to reading Shakespeare, there is another person who claims him to be a literary
god. Its reception among students and the general population is highly polarized, just a the treat,

unique person, is one of Shakespeare s most revered and critiqued works. The play has been carefully
scrutinized by critics from all of the ages since the release. The responses are broad; from an excellent
drama to one of Shakespeare s weaker works, everyone has an opinion on Julius Caesar.

However, the play Julius Caesar disappointed him. He claimed it to be cold and unaffecting, compared
with some other of Shakespeare s plays, (Cerasno). The play has been praised for its remarkable
historical accuracy; Shakespeare s probable access to Plutarch s history writings were to thank. Oddly
enough, Samuel Johnson blamed Shakespeare s strict adherence to historical truth for the play s
dramatical lackings. If Shakespeare would have had complete creative freedom without the
restrictions of historical accuracy, then the play would have been more of a success to Samuel
Johnson. Many others in the 17th century thought the complete opposite of this idea.
The play is dramatical excellence and historical truth according to an unnamed critic in the 17th
century. To this critic, the play manages to be both excellent in its entertainment value and in its
historical accuracy (Cerasno). There is little doubt that the play has historical truths, but whether or
not it is an excellent drama, is up to

Software as a Service
Many years ago, to use software, businesses and organizations purchase traditionally packaged
applications, such as Microsoft Office and Adobe Photoshop, and install them locally onto their
computers. In the 1990 s, upon the expansion of the Internet, Application Service Provider (ASP) was
introduced wherein businesses were provided with software that they can access over the Internet
through a web browser. But then, service and financial failures occurred as a result of actions such as
rushing the market offerings before issues were solved and failing to cut the costs for the customers at
a greater extent because of having a unique server for each customer. Those scalability problems or
the ability to adapt to increasing demands, and reliability problems eventually led to its downfall.
Software as a Service (SaaS) or also known as on demand then evolved from the ASP model. With
SaaS, software is not installed in the customer s computer but in the provider s server somewhere else,
and to access the software, the customer needs to connect to that server through either a thin
client, which is a computer or a program that relies on another computer, or a web browser such as
Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, or Google Chrome. Basically, it is also a software delivery model.
But unlike the ASP, it has increased user awareness and is a multi tenant based service which means
that repairs, updates, and upgrades are applied once for all customers instead of one at a time, making

fact that children are ripped of their selfhood and dignity. For example he says, We can never be

stating: For whites only (King Jr. 2). He wants his audience to know that the signs are going to hurt

Impact of the Mortgage Crisis on Money Supply in the US This paper presents the effects of
expansionary monetary policy to macro economic variables in the economy. The United States of
America recorded a mortgage crisis since 2007. The financial sector issued out massive amounts of
money to individuals to acquire homes. This was in line with government campaigns for equitable

Inflation went up to 4% in 2007 and over 5% in 2008. However, the country tightened its monetary
policy in 2009 leading to a reduction in inflation though minimal (U.S Government, 2011). This has
also led to exportation of inflation and economic decline to other countries. Many countries rely on the
United States economy for financial donations and aid as well as markets for their goods and services.
The decline in economic performance in United States and the subsequent decline in its purchasing
power reduced the level of donations and loans to other countries. Markets for foreign goods in the
United States equally declined.
Foreign Exchange Rate and Money Supply With the mortgage crisis recorded in the United States, the
country s currency declined in value in respect to other world currencies. Increase in money supply led
to an increase in the volume of money in circulation in the United States. This led to a rise in prices of
goods. Because of this, the value of the dollar declined in the international money markets. The
decline in value of the dollar led to imports becoming very expensive. This further reduced the
country s production capability, leading to a further economic decline. A devalued currency makes a
country s exports cheaper than those of other countries. This has the potential of boosting the level of
exports in countries with devalued currency thus reducing their balance of

The International Whaling Regime Essay
The International Whaling Regime
In his article, Whale Mining, Whale Saving, Sidney Holt states, saving the whales is for millions of
people a crucial test of their political ability to halt environmental destruction (Holt 1985). In a world
where environmental issues are often so vast that solving them seems impossible, it is rare to
encounter a regime which successfully addresses these problems. If we judge a regime s effectiveness
by its ability to change the behavior of its members and possibly even encourage others to join, then
the whaling regime was in fact quite effective. The significant decrease in commercial whaling
brought about by the International Whaling Commission (IWC) s 1982 moratorium is proof in itself of

This stipulation proved important in the evolution of the IWC over time because as non whaling
nations began to join in the 1960s and 1970s, they increased the pressure on the IWC to turn its focus
from that of market regulation to a preservationist or conservationist standpoint (Andressen in
Implementation and effectiveness... 1998). But why would nations who did not participate in the
whaling industry want to join the IWC? One reason might be that IWC membership was an easy (and
cheap) way to improve their reputation as green minded without having to make any significant
changes in policy. Furthermore, the decades between the 1960s and 1980s saw an increase in the
number of NGO s taking on the cause of whale conservation which also drove the IWC to re evaluate
its goals and objectives. As a result, the IWC agreed upon a 10 year moratorium on commercial
whaling in1982 and put it into effect in 1986. The moratorium prohibited all commercial whaling, and
granted certain quotas to indigenous peoples who needed the whales for subsistence, and to scientific
research efforts. After the10 year period, it was decided that a Comprehensive Assessment would be
conducted and enough data would be collected in order to reconsider the moratorium.
The moratorium proved largely successful in that many stocks of larger whales such as the Bowhead

Free Will In Julius Caesar Research Paper
Throughout Shakespeare s Julius Caesar a series of events portray a path that leads to Caesar s destiny
being controlled by fate. Some may believe Caesar s destiny is controlled by Caesar and his own free
will since he makes many of his own decisions. Those people are incorrect for the reasoning that no
matter what Caesar or anyone else does, he would still end with the same destiny. He would end up in
the same place as he would even if he had not questioned anything, or he had questioned everyone and
everything more, Caesar would still end up being stabbed in the back by enemies and old friends.
Although some think it is fate, others believe it was free will that controlled Caesar s destiny since he
made all of the choices on his own. Those believing that Caesar chose to refuse the crown three times
say Caesar s destiny is in his own hands. Ay, marry, was t, and he put it by thrice, every time gentler
than the last; (I, i, 225). By saying this, Caesar was making a decision on whether or not he wanted to
rule Rome. Some say his decision will decide his destiny, however no matter what Caesar does, he
will still be following his fate. Before his trip to the capitol, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

What can be avoided whose end is purops d by the mighty gods? (II, ii, 27). This quote speaks of

Anything previously decided for Caesar is now going to take place through a process of fate
controlled by the gods. Alas, my lord, your wisdom is consumed in confidence. Do not go forth today:
(II, ii, 48) Caesar has been warned many times to not go, and is now being told that he is full of
himself. Caesar is too confident sometimes because of his ego and is willing to go against what

Kinjal Patel Professor Gearhart American Literature February 12, 2017 Reflection paper 2 The
materials that impacted me the most were race and borderlands and identity. Like I had mentioned in
my discussion blog, being different from others had a tremendous affect on me as a child. Being a
different race wasn t much of a deal when we were kids, but as we started to grow up and gaining
knowledge, everything changed. My classmate started to realize that I m different from them and
started to treat me differently based on that. At the time we were all facing a challenge when it came to
being a different race because of certain events like 9/11. When something goes wrong, it s always so
easy to blame those who are different. For example, today s

compensated by a good return. Because I have some shares in this bank, so as any investor, I need to

such other reasons: 1. It is one of the big companies dominated the stock market in general and the
MSM 30 index in particular. 2. In many cases it is considered to be the benchmark for the whole
market. 3. It has the highest market capitalization since it form around 28% of the total index market

Spanish Extra Credit Project: Making Food: Cocinar
To begin with, I chose this project because I distinctly remember that my older brother did the same
cooking option. I remembered how good that meal was from 3 years ago. He cooked pork shish
kabobs as an entree and they were outstanding. I wanted to create a similar effect on my family and
their tastebuds. Looking back, I was unaware that I was capable of producing a meal this tasty and
coordinated.

A Hero of the Ages
Heroes come from all sorts of places: movies, books, and even everyday life. Jen, a Gelfling, is a hero
from the movie The Dark Crystal. Jen s story is one of prophecy, the never ending fight between good
and evil, and love. This composition shall trace Jen s quest as well as evaluate his success in that
quest, his individual self, and finally he shall be compared to one of the Greek heroes. Jen s quest can
be classified as restoring the good kingdom. During a time of great change in the universe, there was a

Ogra was another aid to Jen. She was an old woman who could foresee the future. Ogra also had the
missing shard of the dark crystal in her possession, and she gave it to Jen after he proved worthy. The
Mystics gave Jen hope and strong will to overcome his challenges. Unfortunately, Jen is also quite
small and could easily be harmed. He is also very unsure of himself at many times. At the start of his
quest, Jen is still with the Mystics. His master, the eldest, had just told him of his journey and soon
after passed away. Jen must first find Ogra and obtain the missing shard to complete the dark crystal.
At Ogra s awful monsters sent by the Skeksis try and kill Jen and they destroy Ogra s home in the
process. Ogra is captured and taken to the Skeksis. Meanwhile, having escaped, Jen finds himself in a
strange forest where he meets Kara. Both had thought themselves the last of their kind, and soon form
a strong bond. Kara takes Jen to her adopted family, the podlings. It is here that the Skeksis monsters
come once again. They capture some of the podlings and take them to the Skeksis who will drain their
life energy and turn them into slaves. During all of this, the eldest Skeksis leader has passed away and
his leadership was won by one of the remaining Skeksis. Chamberlain, a horrid scoundrel, had tried in

The Twisted Darkness Analysis
The Twisted Darkness
Nathaniel Hawthorne wrote and published many novels and short stories throughout his career,
including several published anonymously. More often readers find a his work to be different types of
romance followed and surrounded with twists of darkness. Based on Hawthorne s biography you can
find most of his characters and the darkness in his stories, come from personal experience. The mix of
success and failure during Hawthorne s writing career resembles parts in his story The Devil in
Manuscript leading to an unfathomable twist for his readers. Born in Salem Massachusetts in 1804,
Nathaniel Hawthorne was born into a prominent family. His ancestors were some of the earliest to
settle in the country; including Nathaniel s late relative John Hathorne who stood as a judge during the
Salem witch trials. The passing of his father to yellow fever, Nathaniel at age four was raised by his
widowed mother in mournful seclusion (Marks 1). Shortly after the death of his father, his mother
moved the family to Maine in 1815 where poetry and romance peaked Hawthorne s interest (Marks 1).
Graduating Bowdoin College at the age of twenty five, Hawthorne returned to Salem where he began
his writing allegorical stories concerning the moral values of New England (Marks 1). Nonetheless at
just twenty eight years of age, Hawthorne anonymously published his first novel Fanshawe covering
his time spent in college. Disgusted after the novel went virtually unnoticed, his

  • 2. The Use of Force The Use of Force The point of view in the story The Use of Force is in first person narrative. This conveys inner the inner thoughts of the narrator as the doctor. The doctor is a reliable narrator and an observer. I feel that his personality is brought out in the doctor. So the doctors thoughts and behaviors are a reflection of the authors. As for the setting it takes place at a family s home. I think it takes place somewhere in the early 1900 s. I think it would make a difference to the story if it were set somewhere else, only because if the sick girl was brought to like a hospital for example, maybe she would have been diagnosed and helped sooner without all the hassle that occurred at the house. Something that really puzzled me in the story was when the first old lady ran after Marian in the hall and sort of grabbed her by her hair and asked her for a penny. I didn t understand that point and I don t think it made much sense to the story. The conflict in the story is when Marian actually goes into the old women s room. The conflict isn t very clear, but its very obvious there is a problem. The first old women is very outgoing, and the second old women, is angry, and bitter. So there s a bit of clashing going on with them and it shows when they spoke to each other. The events that led up to the plot are Marian going into the Old women s home, being in the room and communicating with them til finally she gets so scared she runs out. The theme of this story is also irony. Everything in the story conveyed the theme irony, only because everything seemed like the opposite of what it should have been. For instance when Marian goes to the old women s home for charity. The purpose of charity is to help people who cant help themselves, or to do something nice for someone. In the story, Marian isn t doing it to be helpful, she is only visiting the old women for extra points for her campfire girls. Another example of the irony was the old women constantly disagreed or contradicted each other. • 3. Does America Need the Patient Protection and Affordable... The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. Is It What America Needs? The US healthcare system is currently undergoing what is arguably its biggest change since its enactment in 1935 with the Social Security Act. The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act was signed into law on March 23, 2010 by President Barack Obama in an attempt to bring cost free preventative care to all American citizens. And while this may sound like good news since it will help take care of the 54 million Americans that were uninsured in 2010 when this Act was signed (Kocher 2010) not all of these changes to the healthcare system are beneficial. Many citizens will find themselves penalized by the fees and requirements of the ACA, along with many others ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Not all of the aspects of the PPACA are viewed as positive however. Several portions of this act will make cuts to necessary programs in order to finance the Act as whole. For example, the PPACA will cut $575 billion from the Medicare budget in order to pay for the subsidies and tax breaks that the program offers and many experts argue that this could not come at a worse time (Weinstein 2010). The baby boomers are starting to come of age for Medicare and the program is going to be under more stress than it has ever experienced before. To put it into perspective, 77 million individuals were born during the baby boom between 1946 1965 and now with people projected to live up to 9 years longer than when Medicare was instituted, there will be a higher demand for Medicare that will continue to grow as more and more people become eligible (Keehan 2008). Furthermore, with this much money being cut from Medicare, the money to fund it will have to come from other sources such as taxes. Unfortunately, these taxes will be placed on the individuals too young to receive Medicare and these will be added on to the new taxes that will come as a result of the PPACA. Even though the cuts made by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act are trying to save money, they are made in the wrong places and to the wrong programs causing more problems than benefits. Many individuals and groups that oppose the plan are bringing to light all the new taxes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Analysis of Microsoft Financial Statements Analysis of Financial Statements Financial statements are frequently a key source of information for financial decisions and taking a look at Microsoft s financial statements can help us decide certain things about the company. There are three different types of statements that will be discussed in this section. These include: the balance sheet, the income statement, and the statement of cash flows. They are discussed here in either the sense of quarterly or yearly statements and will be noted as so. All information has been derived from Yahoo Finance. • 6. Word Learning And Language Of The World s Different... Words are the essential part of communication in all of the world s different languages. Most adults understand thousands of words, and the majority of people master a vast vocabulary of words. Word learning and language are perhaps two of the more complex developmental achievements in human evolution, they stand out because of the conceptual and linguistic organization (Waxman, Lidz, 2006). This complex process has been very well studied in human infants and literature about this topic is abundant. Infants gather words and phrases from the human language to which they are exposed to and make important advances in areas such as conceptual and linguistic domains. Furthermore, infants learn words with extraordinarily speed; this gathering of words is so fast that some researchers argue that there must be specialized mechanisms that deal with word learning (Gleitman, L. R., Cassidy, K., Nappa, R., Papafragou, A., Trueswell, J. C. 2005). These specialized mechanisms for word learning are associated with fast mapping, which means that a word meaning is deduced from very few exposures to that specific word. The ability of children to fast map is regarded as proof of the astonishing efficiency of early word learning (Dollaghan, C. A. 1987). There is certainly great knowledge about word learning in human infants; however, this subject has not been studied extensively in animals. One of the few researches in this topic suggests that a dog also have the ability to learn words ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Psychology Assumptions We all hold assumptions about the world and how it works. These assumptions frame our understanding of God, ourselves, others, and life and how to be successful in life. These assumptions affect our understanding and interpretation of facts and of events that occur in our lives. As Aristotle said, It s not the facts that divide men, but the interpretation of the facts (as cited in Hummel, 1986, p. 23). Our assumptions are acquired, often unconsciously or uncritically, by our own experiences and by what we have been taught about life by others. They become a lens by which we view reality. Entwistle (2010) writes that, the world is seen through the lenses of our assumptions (p. 134). If the lens is distorted, our view of reality will be distorted. ... What is the structure of a DNA molecule? These all have physical proper ties that can be measured and tested. Psychology is more subjective than the physical sciences and therefore more open to interpretation. Myers (2014) understands psychology as a science that seeks to answer such questions about us all how and why we think, feel, and act as we do (p. 1). Questions such as, Who are we? What produces our thoughts? Our feelings? Our actions? And how are we to understand and manage those around us? (Myers, 2014, p. 2). Answers to questions like these are profoundly affected by our presuppositions. For example, if I believe that people are inherently good and not affected by sin, I m going to answer these questions a certain way. If I believe that people are created in the image of God, but fallen and being redeemed, I m going to answer them differently. How I respond to people and circumstances will also be different. A number of very bright people spent a lot of time re designing a task to make it more efficient, but ended up with poorer performance, employee dissatisfaction, and probably higher hiring and training costs. The well intentioned managers at Hovey and Beard ignored the lessons of history. They introduced what most managers believed were methods to improve efficiency without considering the likelihood of undesirable side effects. It was these side effects, however, that caused efficiency to decline instead of increase. For these reasons, among others, this chapter explains the development of management thought and shows why the application of some still popular concepts and techniques do not always work out as planned. This molecular compound is notated as CO2 and is made up of one carbon atom and two oxygen atoms. Carbon dioxide is also used for many different things. Carbon is found in all meteorites, and historically, the prevailing view was that all atmospheric carbon found on Earth was in the form of carbon dioxide (Shaw). Recently, however, this viewpoint has been disproved for a number of reasons. The first is that geological evidence would be present if the atmosphere was full of carbon dioxide, which is lacking. The second reason is the delay in oxygenation of the atmosphere following the development of the first oxygen producing microbes. The third reason is the longstanding balance between carbonate carbon and biogenic carbon at a ratio of about 4 to 1 (Shaw). This suggests that it was unlikely that the atmosphere was full of carbon in the form of carbon dioxide. It is believed that the early ocean held most of the carbon. The primordial soup theory suggests that the early ocean had a high concentration of photochemically produced complex organic compounds as well as oxidized sediments, which slowly released carbon dioxide into the atmosphere (Shaw). These factors are also the same factors that likely lead to the initial evolution of primitive life in the ocean. This explanation better fits the geological timeframe for the oxygenation and buildup of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere (Shaw). • 11. Failure Philosophy Let your failure be your motivation to success. Winona Bhushan. Why is failure the key to everything? When climbing a tree, you are bound to fall until you learn from your mistakes. Anything below a hundred percent grade on any given task is failure. These are just two of infinite possibilities of failing. Failure is the result of an action to put it bluntly. There are three poems to help understand this philosophy even further. These include the poem Caged Bird written by the poet, Maya Angelou, Mother To Son, written by the poet, Langston Hughes, and last but certainly not least, The Road Not Taken, written by Robert Frost. The works of literature listed above all revolve around each other in a special way. In each scenario, one reflects on their past in an indirect way of speaking about their decisions or actions. Though, the real question is, how does failure affect these three individuals, and how they did they move past it, or through it? When one feels caged, they are feeling as though they are trapped in their own negative feelings, telling themselves that because of their past failures, they can only talk about how they can t accomplish anything. This is the case in the poem, Caged Bird, by Maya Angelou, in which it states, The free bird thinks of another breeze / and the trade winds soft through the sighing trees / and the fat worms waiting on a dawn bright lawn / and he names the sky his own(Angelou) This means that the free bird, who may be described as someone who has it all, or has had little to no experience with devastating failure. On the other hand, the poem states, But a bird that stalks / down his narrow cage / can seldom see through his bars of rage / his wings are clipped / and his feet are tied / so he opens his throat to sing. (Angelou) This differentiates from the free bird, because the caged bird is described as one who is being restricted into his own limits, basically. One of the things holding him back is his own experiences, while the free bird wonders what is on the other end of the spectrum, as he is handed fat worms and is greeted by soft winds. Also, the enemy is always in a state of fear, never knowing when or where these guerillas could pop out and attack. They are constantly on watch and they tire easily. By using guerilla warfare, forces are able to lower they re casualties while increasing their opponents, even if they are winning cheap. Because they often time use cowardly tactics, guerillas are usually considered terrorists by their opponents. Sometimes however, this can be true. Guerillas in some cases have used propaganda, or started revolts to win over their cause. Instead of trying to defeat their enemy, they try to create chaos, hoping to drive their enemy out. Massive riots and sabotage are not at all uncommon in guerilla wars. All in all, guerilla warfare is the use of unconventional war tactics used against enemies that follow these conventional laws. The woman and the man Guilty of fornication Flog each of them With a hundred stripes Scholars who study Sunnah established a legal interpretation based on this verse – the punishment of one hundred stripes was only to be applied to unmarried persons. If you were married and found guilty of fornication, the traditional punishment was death. Under the Zina Ordinances, this became the first time in Pakistan s history that illicit sex became a crime against the state, punishable by death (Khan 2). If it cannot be proved that rape occurred, then the act of sex becomes a crime against the state. No woman has been put to death under these laws but frequent whippings occurred (Khan 3). • 25. Cruel Optimism Analysis The writer may suggest that one should not focus their attention on the topic of abortion, but rather live life to the fullest. The author mentioned cruel optimism as an ideology that people intend to achieve in order to become happy in the society. The writer quotes Cruel optimism names a relation of attachment to compromised conditions of possibility whose realization is discovered either to be impossible, sheer fantasy, or too possible, and toxic. What s cruel about these attachments, and not merely inconvenient or tragic, is that the subjects who have x in their lives might not well endure the loss of their object or scene of desire, even though its presence threatens their well being; because whatever the content of the attachment is, the continuity of the form of it provides something of the continuity of the subject s sense of what it means to keep on living on and to look forward to being in the world (94). • 27. Realism In Art And Art In The 19th Century Realism began in France in the 1840 s. It was the first unconventional, anti institutional art movement. It challenged Neoclassicism and Romanticism by diverting every ones attention to more social issues which were brought by the disturbed and raging 19th century. In simpler words, Realism was, opposed to the Romanticism ways of merely representing nature, an approach to art to position oneself in the real , whether it was scientifically, morally, constitutionally, or even theoretically. When it comes to theoretical beliefs, Realism incorporated the progressive aims of modernism. This was done through pursuing new certainties, by reconsidering and capsizing customary systems of philosophies and morals. The realistic works developed with the introduction of photography. Among the early and inexpensive technologies available for developing comprehensive traffic, management proposals are Road capacity, traffic sign (i.e. pavement markings, road sign, etc.), Guard rails, cross marking etc traffic calming, vehicle parking regulations and controls, pedestrian measures, accident reduction programs, Bus priority measures. As technology evolved, application of Intelligent Traffic System (ITS) was introduced. (Olaogbebikan J. E et al. 2013). Street lighting also improves safety for drivers, riders, and pedestrians. They concluded that on average the presence of street lighting reduces the severity of injuries by a factor of 3. • 29. A Report On Uav Traffic Safety Abstract The purpose of this paper is to review some UAV traffic concerns. UAV traffic is increasing tremendously over the past decade. There have been a number of mid air collisions with UAVs crashing into commercial aircraft or into each other. They are big enough to cause more engine foreign object damage than a bird strike. This is because they are made of stronger material and plus they have batteries on board that can cause severe damage to aircraft. Air traffic controllers need to know how many UAVs are operating in their area of responsibility and know exactly where they are. The FAA has adapted to the some of the new UAV laws, but this paper will show where they are lacking some rules and regulations involving UAV traffic. Introduction This paper is going to demonstrate the importance of UAV traffic control. It will review some previous mid air collisions with both UAVs colliding with each other and with commercial aircraft. It will include some of the causes like lack of technology to detect UAVs and other aircraft, air traffic controller centers lacking technology, and the FAA lacking rules and regulations addressing the UAV population increases. The technology has to communicate back and forth from the UAV to the operator and back. This can become a problem because of hacking threats. The main concern of this paper is to propose an efficient and secure air traffic control of UAVs. In the article Secure routing in UAV , the three ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

If Shakespeare would have had complete creative freedom without the restrictions of historical accuracy, then the play would have been more of a success to Samuel Johnson. • 31. Software as a Service Many years ago, to use software, businesses and organizations purchase traditionally packaged applications, such as Microsoft Office and Adobe Photoshop, and install them locally onto their computers. In the 1990 s, upon the expansion of the Internet, Application Service Provider (ASP) was introduced wherein businesses were provided with software that they can access over the Internet through a web browser. But then, service and financial failures occurred as a result of actions such as rushing the market offerings before issues were solved and failing to cut the costs for the customers at a greater extent because of having a unique server for each customer. Those scalability problems or the ability to adapt to increasing demands, and reliability problems eventually led to its downfall. Software as a Service (SaaS) or also known as on demand then evolved from the ASP model. With SaaS, software is not installed in the customer s computer but in the provider s server somewhere else, and to access the software, the customer needs to connect to that server through either a thin client, which is a computer or a program that relies on another computer, or a web browser such as Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, or Google Chrome. Basically, it is also a software delivery model. But unlike the ASP, it has increased user awareness and is a multi tenant based service which means that repairs, updates, and upgrades are applied once for all customers instead of one at a time, making ... However, the country tightened its monetary policy in 2009 leading to a reduction in inflation though minimal (U.S Government, 2011). This has also led to exportation of inflation and economic decline to other countries. Many countries rely on the United States economy for financial donations and aid as well as markets for their goods and services. The decline in economic performance in United States and the subsequent decline in its purchasing power reduced the level of donations and loans to other countries. Markets for foreign goods in the United States equally declined. Increase in money supply led to an increase in the volume of money in circulation in the United States. This led to a rise in prices of goods. The International Whaling Regime Essay The International Whaling Regime In his article, Whale Mining, Whale Saving, Sidney Holt states, saving the whales is for millions of people a crucial test of their political ability to halt environmental destruction (Holt 1985). In a world where environmental issues are often so vast that solving them seems impossible, it is rare to encounter a regime which successfully addresses these problems. If we judge a regime s effectiveness by its ability to change the behavior of its members and possibly even encourage others to join, then the whaling regime was in fact quite effective. This stipulation proved important in the evolution of the IWC over time because as non whaling nations began to join in the 1960s and 1970s, they increased the pressure on the IWC to turn its focus from that of market regulation to a preservationist or conservationist standpoint (Andressen in Implementation and effectiveness... 1998). But why would nations who did not participate in the whaling industry want to join the IWC? One reason might be that IWC membership was an easy (and cheap) way to improve their reputation as green minded without having to make any significant changes in policy. Furthermore, the decades between the 1960s and 1980s saw an increase in the number of NGO s taking on the cause of whale conservation which also drove the IWC to re evaluate its goals and objectives. As a result, the IWC agreed upon a 10 year moratorium on commercial whaling in1982 and put it into effect in 1986. The moratorium prohibited all commercial whaling, and granted certain quotas to indigenous peoples who needed the whales for subsistence, and to scientific research efforts.
