Why have you decided to make
it?
The reason as to why I have decided to make
this project is because it will be a more
advanced version of my pervious FMP from
last year. Last year I based my project
around the idea of promoting an artist at a
local gallery through social media so I could
recycle this idea and add more context to
build it up. Rather than promoting an artist
this time round, I would instead use a
photographer with a specific style to promote
to a target audience.

What makes this project important to me is
that it is focusing on a medium in the media
which I enjoy very much being photography.
It was my first passion and it what drew me to
the media industry originally so I feel that I
can really use it to my advantage and show
the skills I have learned over the past two
years on this course.
Another reason why my project is important
to me is the message I would want to send
through my work, I want to encourage my
audience to step out of their shell, just like I
am doing in my work and planning to do so in
this project whether that is approaching a
new editing style and mastering it, using a
range of colour palettes I’ve never considered
in the past and more.

One of my favourite photographers which I
always am inspired by Damon Baker, I have
used him in previous products for sources of
inspiration and have always been an admirer
of his work. A reason as to why this specific
photographer influences my work is his style,
in my fanzine project I showed that he
typically presents his photos in black and
white and will make the shadows intense
which is something I like to try incorporating
into my photos when editing. The main
difference between my work and Baker’s
would be that he focuses on people whereas
the majority of my work likes to focus on
nature and landscape.

and this idea is the effect that covid has had
on clothing brands. Even though this was an
idea I had last year, with everything that has
changed, seeing companies stepping up their
game digitally to promote and advertise has
inspired me; specifically using other peoples
photos showing the product to help promote

What effect do you want to have
on your audience when they see
your project?
I want the audience to feel that they can be
themselves and that a piece of them is in this
product. Even though I haven’t decided on a
specific theme, I would want it to be
‘inclusive’ and make people feel at home. I
am unsure as of right now how I am going to
do this, but if this is the idea I stick with,
throughout my research and planning, I will
be able to go into more detail and look into
how I can do this.
My main goal throughout this project will be
promoting the photographer and so I will want
to make sure I am making my audience
interested in them and intrigued on what their
work is like.
As I will be using social media as well as
other forms of the media, this gives me more
opportunity to reach a wider, potentially more
global target audience (something for me to
look into further when carrying out my
audience research, primary and secondary)
Describethe tone/mood/style of
your project[which production
techniques/characteristics are
you employing?]
In this project, I want the mood of it to be very
positive and colourful. In my previous projects
I have tended to go to the more neutral side
in terms of style, more likely to be using black
and white over yellows and blues. However,
for my project I want to flip that and be able to
experiment with more colourful and creative
aspects which will allow me to step outside of
the box also with techniques that I wouldn’t
have previously used due to them being too
‘bold’ for the style.
An example of that could be experimenting
with more neon effects such as the ‘neon
border’ which I experimented with in my
fanzine unit but didn’t feel that it would fit my
theme so this time round I can possibly
incorporate it into my work. As this work is
mainly ‘promotion’ based the overall theme

3. will want to be something that is going to
stand out to the audience, not give too much
away and if possible, relate to them.
So, most likely, my best approach to that
would be using a bright colour palette that
can be referred back to the photographer
(e.g., if the photographer tends to use blues
and greens in their photos that would be
some colours, I will want to work into the
colour palette that way they will work with the
images themselves).
Why have you decided to make
your projectin this style?
I have decided to make this project in this
style because I want to show a different side
to my work and be able to express/show
more of my skills.
