For his preliminary task, the student conducted limited magazine research but for the main task expanded his research to include music magazines, intended audience, fonts, articles, and photography to properly construct representations for his chosen rock music genre. His planning and research skills improved, allowing him to create a more professional product aligned with industry conventions. Specifically, he learned to choose fonts, photography, and layouts fitting the genre. Comparing his preliminary and final covers shows he developed skills in Photoshop like using layers and editing to represent his genre's dark, bold aesthetic, producing a magazine better resembling real industry products.
