My Passion In Writing
Has writing ever impacted your life? I often write to express my feelings towards situations that are
presented to me. Alternatively, I use writing to settle the rage within myself no matter the subject
matter I always stay true to writing with internal purpose. Writing something down on paper is much
easier for me, it s as though my hand leads my thoughts. It s wonderful to escape and through writing,
I get that feeling. If it was not for me taking speech and given the assignment to write about something
that affected my life I would have never found my passion for writing.
Two weeks into the class I was shaken up when my teacher, Mrs. Murphy gave us a speech topic that
read something that has had a major effect on you . This assignment had to be presented in front of my
peers, but it had to come from a writing assignment. Mrs. Murphy didn t have many strict
requirements for this assignment except she demanded that we present our speech with passion. After
class on my way home many topics ran through my head but none of them actually stuck. I then took a
right, turning into my drive way, seeing my house that is not yet livable since the flood I knew that
this is what I base my assignment on. This was a painful subject for me but I knew that I could present
passion through this topic.
August 16th,2016 many hearts were shattered. Prolonged rainfall in southern parts of
Louisiana resulted in catastrophic flooding that submerged thousands of houses and businesses. The
way I

Fear Is Power Analysis
The author Marie Lu exemplified the idea that fear is power in the novel The Young Elites as the
central moral of the story. As stated, Adelina s power to create illusions is fueled by the fear and hate
in her environment. Indeed the intentions Adelina has never fall short of being eerie and unsettling, to
understand her view on how strongly fear triggers her intense ability. It had already been discovered
that large numbers of people in one area provides more fear for her to consume. This passage just
illuminated the statement revealing a bit of her twisted personality. I can practically smell the terror...
The darkness inside me hungers for it, yearning to break free, and I have to force down the irresistible
urge to flood this entire square with illusions of Underworld monsters. Even during all of this, Adelina
s hatred for the Inquisition Axis still burns like a raging fire inside of her, Let the Inquisition Axis see
what happens when they force us to humiliate ourselves. her revenge against them constantly lurking
at the back of her mind.
Another example of Adelina s power being strengthened to its peak was in the middle of war. One
queen fighting to gain another s land. One queen lying in her throne room bleeding out in both her
lover and murder s hands. And one future queen, ready to fuel her energy to an overwhelming rate ...

During the celebration of Gemma winning the race, both Enzo and Adelina let their passion get the
best of them, both end up hurt at the end of the night. You can t have passion without fear, but is it true
that passion isn t needed? Adelina and Enzo show that passion has continued to fail them numerous
times, leaving them open and vulnerable. Yet driving fear into those around you gives you control and
power over anyone you please. Love may be one of the strongest motivations in life, but isn t it your

Relationship Between Alzheimer s Disease And Down Syndrome
Relationship between Alzheimer Disease and Down syndrome Down Syndrome (DS) is a genetic and
developmental disorder that arises due to a certain biological defect during the fusion of gametes to
produce a new organism. The occurrence of his biological defects leads to an extra partial or full copy
of chromosome 21 in every cell in the individual s body. In other words, there are more copies of
chromosome 21 in every cells in that person s body instead of the normal pairs. According to the
article, more copies of chromosome 21 makes the genes in the body to be unbalanced. Therefore, it
causes an individual to have some delays and limitations in both physical and intellectual
developments. Alzheimer Disease (AD) is a very rapid and progressive

Energy Drinks In Sports Drinks
Problem and Purpose
The problem is that many people use and rely on sports drinks, many of which contain high levels of
calories coming from sugar. This is a problem not only due to the many headlines on the obesity
epidemic in this country, especially in regards to children, and how too many people eat too much
sugar and this leads to major health problems like obesity and diabetes. I and many others use these
beverages to refuel from an activity and feel more hydrated or just to enjoy, so I wanted to test these
products and other beverages to determine which of the beverages contain the highest concentration of
electrolytes. The purpose of this project is to see if there is the ability to gain enough electrolytes
without the need to use a beverage with high sugar/calorie content.
Hypothesis My hypothesis is that the beverages with the most electrolytes would have the least
amount of calories and the beverages with the least electrolytes will have the most calories because
calories in beverages are usually from sugar while electrolytes are made up of salt, calcium,
potassium. I think this because usually when something is salty (what electrolytes are made of) it
would be less sugary (what calories are made of) and vice versa.
Background Research
A great many athletes will drink a sports/electrolyte drink after an activity or workout, while others
will just drink these to enjoy or to feel more hydrated. In most of these situations the person drinking

The Large Bathers By Paul Cézanne
Modern art takes the best of artists and their art work and adapts it, adding new techniques and
personal styles of each. When one carefully analyzes different pieces of art with openness to
emotional impression and introspection it allows appreciation and pleasure towards other artists as
well as their works. This paper will provide information on the artist Paul Cézanne and his work The
Large Bathers, look into Matisse s Bonheur de Vivre (Joy of Life) and Picasso s Les Demoiselles d
Avignon. It will also discuss the influence Paul Cézanne had on the aforementioned artists upon
producing their masterpieces.

His passionate and often exasperating life and his drive for re invention fed into his prolific production
of several works of art. Les Demoiselles d Avignon is a prime example of this. Picasso s unique style
of painting followed ideas and traits from both Cezanne and Matisse. He went on to combine
characteristics of both styles and add his own personal touch to create this shattering masterpiece.
Picasso s appearance brought rivalry to Matisse and his styles and as they lived on the next few years,
they figuratively battled one another and always comparing and contrasting each other s paintings. We
can only be thankful and appreciate this art war between these two unique artists which created a
platform for future artist and individuals alike.
To conclude, the life of artistic techniques and principles have taken a drastic change from when it
began. As we saw the art work of Cezanne lived through to Matisse where it took a change, a swing
into Matisse unique style until it got Picasso where the drastic change was made. The amazing beauty
of the same piece created multiple times exerting different moods and emotions for viewers. The art
world is spectacular and understanding that enables appreciation and love for

Police Brutality In The 21st Century
According to Harper s Index , the police killed 35 people by taser as of August 2015. Police brutality
has been a hot topic across the nation this past year; this statistic has caught the attention of many
citizens of the United States because of the current inclination to blame police for unnecessary deaths.
Although the police force is accountable for 35 lives taken by tasers so far this year, the statistic is not
a dramatic increase from previous years. It is receiving so much attention because of the public view
of police as a whole and a lack of comparison to years past. Harper s Index left out vital information
that could change the way readers react to it and view the situation that our country faces regarding
police brutality.

This statistic fails to recognize that the average number of deaths per year caused by police use of
tasers since 2009 per year is about 57 [Electronic Village]. The failure to add this in the factoid causes
a very different conclusion, because in fact this year we are below the average number compared to
previous years. If this statistic was included in Haper s Index s statistic readers would not be as
shocked and enraged by the police forces actions. Harper s Index use of this statistic, by itself , is
deceiving the readers who make conclusions that the number of deaths was shocking and that changes
need to be made, but in reality the statistic is not out of the ordinary compared to years past. In
addition to leaving out the comparison to past years, it also leaves out the actual circumstance in
which the victim died. For example four of the victims I researched were shot with a taser and due to
heart problems, died [The Guardian]. In another case that I researched, the victim was shot with a
taser gun and tried to continue to flee; the electric shock caused him to lose his balance and fall off an
eight foot wall to his death. The police force s intent in many of these situations was not to kill the
citizen but because of circumstances unknown to the police at the time, death was the

Swot Analysis Of Red Bull
Red Bull Energy drink was founded in the 1980s by Austrian entrepreneur Dietrich Mateschitz in
partnership with Chaleo Yoovidhya. This came as an inspiration to an existing drink called Krating
Daeng, which was introduced in Thailand by Chaleo Yoovidhya. Dietrich modified the ingredients and
the first red bull drink was sold in Austria in the year 1987.
Red Bull is available in 169 countries and around 5.9 billion were sold in the year 2015 around the
world. It has grown and has now become the highest selling energy drink in the world. It started as an
energy drink consumed by Thai truck drivers and laborers and now has now become the most
preferred energy drink worldwide by sportsmen, workaholics, youth and many active people s lives.
Red Bull is especially produced targeting the sports people and it is considerably growing in that
segment worldwide.
When it comes to hitting the marketing in the Philippines, Red Bull must examine how the
implementation strategy using the marketing mix. In addition to that, the company must understand
the cultures, beliefs, and way of life of Filipinos to adapt the product into the social structure of the
country.
Product
Red Bull drink idea came from Krating Daeng which is a non carbonated energy drink available
originated in Thailand. Red Bull drink contained ingredients like that but a few more added to
accommodate the western taste and became carbonated. The product mix of Red Bull can be
elaborated as follows. Red Bull energy drink contains caffeine, taurine, B vitamins, sucrose and
glucose which is mainly required by workaholics, sports people or even youth who want to party at
night. As there is a usual trend that occurs in the younger segment, they came up with a sugar free
variant called Red Bull SugarFree which contains aspartame and acesulfame K instead of sucrose and
glucose. The drink is available in a tall blue silver can with 2 red bulls on the front whereas Krating
Daeng is a gold short can. The two products are produced differently and available in different
countries and red bull is a much more popular energy drink worldwide.
With the different variety of drinks, Red Bull can expand into the market of the Philippines by
promoting their sugar free

Feminist in Susan Glaspell´s Play Trifles
Trifles In Susan Glaspell s play Trifles a man has been murdered by his wife, but the men of the town
who are in charge of investigating the crime are unable solve the murder mystery through logic and
standard criminal procedures. Instead, two women (Mrs. Hale and Mrs. Peters) who visit the home are
able to read a series of clues that the men cannot see because all of the clues are embedded in
domestic items that are specific to women. The play at first it seems to be about mystery, but it
abruptly grows into a feminist perspective. The play Trifles written by Susan Glaspell can be
considered a revolutionary writing in it its advocacy of the feminist movement. Trifles is one play that
really shows the conflict between gender roles ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What Bailey McDaniel meant by this is that women couldn t speak their ideas and how it was
frustrating for them. Like in the play, the women were trying to help the men, but the men clearly didn
t want their help or they just make fun of them, as a result, the women took matters in their own
hands. Not only does the title have symbolic meaning but also the names of the female characters are
also symbolic. Susan Glaspell purposely hid the names of the female characters to symbolize that they
don t have an identity. Only the men receive a first name in Trifles, while the play refers to the women
by their husbands last names. The role that society has cast them in is one that is defined by their
husbands. This shows how women were oppressed by not allowing them to have their own names
unless they were called by their husband s last name. Susan Glaspell gives good examples in how their
marital status changes the female characters s names. In the play Mrs. Hale says: ... I heard she used to
wear pretty clothes and be lively, when she was Minnie Foster... (1972). The reader can see how the
name changes according to her marital status, and how she was unhappy probably because she was
being oppressed by her husband. In The Trifles of Feminism Christina McLure really makes a good
point in that Mr. Wright always tried to

The City Of Orlando Florida
Since the humble beginnings of the American industrial revolution, the urban city has been the
pinnacle of rapid development and robust growth. Despite the efforts of notable city planners such as
Sir Ebenezer Howard, Peter Calthorpe and Andres Duany the potential of true sustainable
development has not been realized by the majority of urban cities. The inevitable question asserts how
cities can continue growth and development while corroborating the triple bottom line as a framework
for virtually every city.
The urban city by modern definition is characterized by a broken community structure, dangerous
high density, and a lack of sustainable design. The city of Orlando Florida is a quintessential example

Education
At the foundation of every issue in the broad scope of sustainability is a fundamental lack of proper
environmental education as an individual, which ultimately permeates into all of society. The
education referred to here is not simply the standardized tests, memorizing and essays of the modern
day classroom but the education, which takes place at home. As children, there is a universal myth that
has been passed down since the golden age of the industrial revolution. This idea of the American
dream informs virtually every decision Americans make and how society is structured. Simply put:
Get an education, get a Job, have children, acquire wealth, capital and leave a legacy before you die.
The fundamental problem with this is that there is no mention of our most basic responsibility, as
environmental stewards. In short this anthropocentric paradigm acts a rearguard for sustainable
development and begins as early as the conception of language in a child s life.
Over the course of the next 15 years there are very simple yet, crucial strategies that must be in place
to amend not the foundational goals of America or the American dream but rather, the means of
achieving it. This calls first for a new approach to the environmental movement: disregard everything
that has been labeled and stigmatized as environmentalism. Instead the education infrastructure must
be replaced with the institution of logic and respect for

happen in the shallow parts of the ocean. The people that are most likely to get bit are young adults
and children. If you see someone get bit you need to call 911 immediately so that they have a better
chance of living. Some symptoms are vomiting, changes in you vison, and difficulty swallowing.
After five to ten minutes you may have a hard time breathing and you can become paralyzed. If you

I Am A True Believer That Commonwealth Is The Best Option...
I am a true believer that Commonwealth is the most perfect option for my homeland, Puerto Rico.
There has been an ongoing debate on the political status of Puerto Rico for years on whether it should
be a state or become independent, but I think it should be put to an end now because I am going to
prove to you the reason why it is best for our island to be a commonwealth. No matter what anyone
says I know that for my own island, we wouldn t survive as a state or as an independent nation,
therefore commonwealth is the best option for us. Since July 1952, Puerto Rico has been a

I think this is the most important aspect of being a commonwealth because I don t have to sacrifice my
religion, culture, or language which is something very important to us, Puerto Ricans. Due to the
Jones Act of 1917, we were granted a U.S citizenship, allowing us to travel back and forth between the
U.S and Puerto Rico (Perez y Gonzalez 2011: 1843). This is very important to me and my family,
otherwise my family living in the United States would not be able to come and see us all the time and
vice versa! Therefore, I would never want to lose this benefit that the U.S has given us. The New
Progressive Party consists of those who want Puerto Rico to become a state. This is such a bad option
for an island like Puerto Rico because if we were to become a part of the United States, English would
have to be our primary language and why would I want to sacrifice my language just to become a
state? English is taught in Puerto Rican schools, but it is a foreign language to them. Less than 20% of
Puerto Ricans can speak English fluently, which would make integration into United States culture
very difficult. Not only does it affect language, but it also affects our Puerto Rican culture. I have no
doubt that becoming a state would cause a culture loss because of the assimilation that will happen.
One example of cultural integration would probably be that the Spanish language would

Hate And Love, And American Values In America
America is a driven nation in which everyone has different motivators which produce varied results in
society and the lives of the Americans. Hate and love, as well as selfishness and selflessness are the
primary motivators of individuals as they cause the most amount of passion and debate. Morals will
impact these values and cause them to change to match the situation along with the feelings of the
individual. At times, these values may contradict each other, such as hate and love or selfishness
versus selflessness, yet these contradictions are necessary for its inverse to exist. Without hate, love
would not exist. Selfless actions could not be recognized if not for selfish actions. The effect morals
have on the individual would go unobserved if there was not a range of beliefs. Although its values
can contradict one another, American values are what drives America to the success that it praises
itself for.
Hate and love are seen as antonyms when in reality the two ideas come in a pair. In order to hate, one
must have known love before for as it is impossible to hate something without caring about it in some
form. It is very easy for love to develop into hate, and vice versa. Hate will lead to exclusion and bad
choices while love will unify and bind the nation together, making it stronger. Although an individual
s or a nation s goal may be for peace, the result can be hatred if proper steps laid out in Just War
Theory are not taken. Just War Theory acknowledges that there

Disadvantages Of Rohingya
Rohingya s are a Muslim ethnic minority group that has lived as an inhabitance in Mayanmar for
centuries, Today more than a million of them lives in the country, most in the western coastal state of
Rakhine . Where they make up around a third of the population .They speak their own language which
is not recognized by the state. It is one of the poorest states in the country with ghetto like camps and a
lack of basic service and opportunities due to ongoing violence persecution, hundreds and thousands
of Rohingya have fled to neighbouring Countries either land or boat over the course of many decades.
Muslim have lived in the area now known as Myanmar since as early as the 12th century, according to
many historians and Rohingya groups. The Arakan Rohingya national organization has said Rohingya
have been living in Arakan from time immemorial referring to the area known as Rakhine. After
independence the government viewed the migration that look place during British rule as illegal , and
it is on this basis that they refuse citizenship to the majority of Rohingya. This has led many Buddhists
to consider the Rohingya to be Bengali, rejecting the term Rohingya as a recent invention, created for
Political reasons. In 2010, when the military leaders released pro democracy leader of Mayanmar
Ayng San Suu Kyi from house arrest, Most of the political leaders thought Burma was beginning to
change for the better. When they demanded citizenship they also asked for the state that had been
promised to them. Ultimately the army crushed the resistance movement. Hundreds and thousands of
desperate Rohingya people are fleeing a vicious military purage in Myanmar. Troops have burned
scores of villages, beheading men raping women, and even killing children. In some place, Buddhist
militias and people have joined in the attacks against the Muslim majority Rohingya. The Myanmar

Analyzing Gallagher’s Oroonoko’s Blackness Essay
Analyzing Gallagher s Oroonoko s Blackness
Oroonoko is a fascinating text overflowing with descriptions of complex relations between and within
the different races. The attitudes and actions of the Aphra Behn and her characters would make for a
rich analysis from any number of behavioral approaches, but there are many more layers to this story
than the dominant racial themes. In fact, in Oroonoko s Blackness Catherine Gallagher argues that the
main character s unusually dark skin color actually represents kingship, commodification, and the
degree to which he and the author are embodied in the work. Though Gallagher recognizes the
significance of Oroonoko s ethnicity in the conflict between the African and European groups, she ...

She adds that Oroonoko is also associated with worth in that his color establishes him as a marketable
good. Because he is black and able to be sold in the slave trade, a quantitative value can be placed on
him, transforming him into a commodity. And the fact that he is darker than other blacks suggests that
he would receive a higher price. So Gallagher believes that Oroonoko s blackness conveys a higher
value, and because of her clear reasoning, the reader does, too.
When these ideas, personal worth and blackness, are combined, Oroonoko appears separated from and
elevated above the rest of his race. Gallagher writes that this creates the notion of kingship, that
Oroonoko is really a culmination of all of his subjects less perfect darkness (94). Despite Oroonoko s
royalty, the reader would naturally question why he should represent kingship when it is his
grandfather that rules over everyone, including Oroonoko. Gallagher anticipates this and describes
how the grandfather is merely brown and has a failing body, thereby falling short of Oroonoko s
greater blackness and perfection, which better fulfills the common perception of the mystical body of
kingship (94). She further supports this by citing Oroonoko s treatment of his subjects as property
through the slave trade, which only kingship gives him the right to do. John Locke s Two

The Interpretation of Aboriginal Dreams
Introduction:
Typically to understand a foreign culture s ontology, ethnographers and anthropologist examine
aspects of the selected group s life such as researching into their methods of communication, religious
values, if any, and their orientation within the world. An alternative and more modern way of learning
ontological views of a culture is by taking a more interdisciplinary approach and looking towards
analyzing not just how they view aspects of the world but why. There is a cross between fields of
psychology and philosophy when anthropologists begin to analyze aboriginal conceptions of
Dreamings as a way to shed light onto their epistemology. Many studies have been done to signify the
importance of these Dreamings in the cultural shaping of their world. However, because emphasis is
focused on the distinction and differences between Aboriginal and Non indigenous models of dreams,
these two ideologies are often binary. After learning about the concept of Dreaming in philosophical,
psychological, and ethnographic terms through the course of 10 weeks I want to propose that
Aboriginal Dreamings are not so distance from the basis of non indigenous formation models of
dreams.
There is a large emphasis of the distinctions between Aboriginal Australians concept of the Dream
Time or Dreamings and the (Western) formulation of Dreams. This connection has caused interest
because of the similarities between names. Patrick Wolfe accredits the term Dreamings to come from

Let Her Go Poem Analysis
Many songs have very poetic lyrics and could be a great poem also. The song I chose to compare to a
poem and explain why it could stand on its own as a poem is Let Her Go by Passenger. I chose this
song because throughout the song the lyrics consist of many poetic devices. In the song, there is use of
figurative language along with an oxymoron, alliteration and assonance, and end rhymes. The song,
Let Her Go, could stand on its own as poem and make sense. There is an oxymoron and many uses of
figurative language in the song Let Her Go. Passenger uses an oxymoron throughout the song in the
chorus again, which also includes the title of the song. The lyric that was used is, Only know you ve
been high when you re feeling low . This is an oxymoron because it contradictory terms, high and low,
appear in conjunction with one another. It is also making a comparison which will be described later.
The first use of figurative language in the song is, Everything you touch surely dies . Passenger uses a
hyperbole in this lyric by making and exaggeration and not speaking of it in realistic terms.
Everything anyone touches cannot and will not actually die, so the song writer uses their first
figurative language. The second lyric I found that used figurative language was, But dreams come
slow and they go so fast and Cause love comes slow and it goes so fast . In both lines, personification
is being used. They both describe love and dreams as people or things, saying that they go slow and
fast. This is almost as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Ralph C Wilson Case
Taxes Probably Contributed to Buffalo Bills Owner Decision to Keep Team While Still Living
While he was still living, Ralph C. Wilson Jr. was not only resolute about maintaining his sole
ownership of the Buffalo Bills but he passionately wanted his team to stay in Buffalo.
There might have been some financial motives to keep the NFL team before he passed away in March
2014.
If he was still alive when he sold the team, his income taxes would have been based on the profits of
his initial investment of $25,000 in 1959. The team is now worth $870 million.
If the team was sold today, the successors to his fortune would have to pay capital gain taxes which
would be the difference between the team value when he died and whatever the eventual sale ... Show

Further complicating that tax scenario is what his heirs will owe in federal estate taxes. Attorneys said
that estate taxes can be as high as 40% and will depend on Wilson s final arrangements.
Alexander stated that for assets that large a considerable amount of planning would have taken place,
where different scenarios would be considered, overall costs and benefits and how they would
ultimately impact Mr. Wilson now and into the future.
Selling the team would also have been one of the decisions of the estate taxes evaluation.
As Alexander stated, a team valued at $800 million would have to pay $320 million or 40% at some
point.
Hoops mentioned that certain estate planners would advise a wealthy client like Wilson to take
advantage of insurance policies to pay for some of the estate taxes.
Even with expert estate planning, Hoops went on to say that unforeseen problems tend to come up
after death.
Even with the best estate plan ever devised, Hoops said it boils down to the family and heirs that are

A Evolution Of The Late Jurassic
Charophytes are green algae that have been found in fresh water to moderately brackish water
environments. Their gyrogonites are minute oval or round calcareous bodies that represent the
calcified parts of the oogonium i. e. the female reproductive organs. Most of the plant consists of
organic matter that decays shortly after death. Under some circumstances the stems and branches of
the plant become calcified and are also preserved in the geologic record. In the absence of the
planktonic and benthonic foraminifers, ostracodes and charophytes becomes valuable biostratigraphic
tool for geologic analysis and interpretation (Carbonel, 1988; Colin Lethiers, 1988; Martin Closas
Schudack, 1996, Schudack, 2000 2006). Moreover the charophytes have been the focus of intensive
work since the early 1960, since it was hope to obtain valuable information on the dating,
biostratigraphic and paleoecology of the strata (Schudack, 2002 2004). The present study attempts a
comprehensive biostratigraphic evolution of the Late Jurassic Early Cretaceous sequence at Messak
escarpment based on the stratigraphic distribution of the charophytes species as this type of
microfossils have not been studied before in Libya as well as the study area has never been studied for
charophytes beforehand. On the basis of the stratigraphic distribution of charophytes it is possible to

Analysis Of Ben Johnson And Christopher Marlow Essay
Now, you all know about the famous playwright William Shakespeare. However, do you know about
the other famous play writers of the time? Now, your reaction might be, Wait, huh? There were other
playwrights during Shakespeare s time? Yes there were, and they were actually quite famous. Two of
the most prominent ones were Ben Johnson and Christopher Marlow. Today, we mainly focus on
Shakespeare and his works. However, each of these men were making plenty of moolah back in the
day. They even each other and had very light rivalries. I will be talking about these two men s works
and how they affected Elizabethan drama. (Volunteer doopededoo) So, let s start with Ben Johnson.
This man was first born in London, England in 1572, just nine years after Shakespeare was born.
Shortly after little Ben was born, his dear sweet father died. His mother, being, you know, poor,
remarried a bricklayer. Ben would then go to the St. Martin s Parish school and learn about many
classical figures, such as the scholar William Camden. After graduating, Ben became a bricklayer, just
like his new father! Yet, he didn t really like this too much, so he went to serve in the military at
Flanders. Yet, he didn t really like this either. So, he decided to be an actor instead! Ben was finally on
the road to making some great literary works! In 1594, Ben married Anne Lewis and had too beautiful
children. Besides this, we don t know much about his family. Ben described his wife as

What Are The Top 10 Teams In The NFL
Top ten teams in the NFL. 10. The Seattle Seahawks
Russel Wilson is a very constant quarterback and they have one of the best defenses in the league.
They are at a little struggle at offensive line and their running backs. Their team will never reach the
potential they had when they had Marshawn Lynch .
9. Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jaguars are in the number 10 spot just because of their great defense. They don t have a great
franchise quarterback yet and they have a promising running back. They came off of a clutch win on
the Seahawks and they will make it to the playoffs.
8. Atlanta Falcons
The Falcons had the hardest schedule in the league after week 11 and they might not make the
playoffs, but they have the MVP quarterback and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

4. New England Patriots
They just came off a Super Bowl win and they are doing great. The only problem is they don t have a
great running back and Tom Brady probably doesn t have many years left. They also are coming off a
tough loss to the Miami Dolphins which aren t a great team. They will make the playoffs, but they will
not have another Super Bowl this year 3. Pittsburg Steelers
The Pittsburg Steelers are a Super Bowl capable team with one of the best triple threats in the league.
Ben Roethlisberger is a great quarterback and he has one of the best wide outs in the league. Antonio
Brown is probably the 2nd best wide receiver in the league other than Julio Jones. Le veon Bell is one
of the best in the league. This will probably be the AFC team in the Super Bowl
2. Minnesota Vikings
They were on a streak and they are a very capable team. They will probably face the Eagles in the
NFC championship. Adam Thielen is climbing to the top on the receiver charts. Even though their
starting quarterback got injured Case Keenum has stepped up and filled in the spot and done great.
Even though they lost to the Panthers I think they have a capability to make it all the way
1. Philadelphia Eagles
They had the possible MVP quarterback until he got injured. Carson Wentz was leading the league in a
lot of the stats and he was probably going to help

What Is Huxley s Vision In Brave New World
As defined by the Merriam Webster dictionary, a society includes people in general thought of as
living together in organized communities with shared laws, traditions, and values. In Amusing
Ourselves to Death, Neil Postman s assertion supports Aldous Huxley s vision about the future state of
society over that of George Orwell s. According to Orwell s 1984, 1984 was to be the year that Big
Brother would lead a dictatorial government, however this never occurred. As Postman states
throughout his essay, the present society is far more reflective of Huxley s view of the future depicted
in his novel Brave New World. Evidence supportive of Huxley s vision is seen through an abundance
of information available to most societies, a constant pursuit of pleasure and entertainment by
societies, and a society s media determining the way in which it defines truth. According to such
evidence of the contemporary society, Postman s assertion that Huxley s vision is more relevant today
than is Orwell s is true. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Honey Bees Pesticide
1. A pesticide is a substance used to eliminate insects or other organisms that come into contact with
the plant life that the substance is placed on, this tactic of removal is damaging to both harmful and
helpful insects or organisms.
2. Essentially, the YouTube video gives an overview on honey bees, pollinators, being threatened due
to harmful pesticides. It can be seen that fewer honey bees are coming out of the winter season and the
ones that do are already weak, which puts them at a disadvantage. Nonetheless, at the end of the
video, the point is made that pesticides are not the only problem honey bees face and the solution is
not to have people come together to just eliminate pesticides to improve the decline of honey bees.

Essay on The Emergence of the Chartist Movement
The People s Charter, drafted in 1838 by William Lovett and Francis Place was at the heart of a radical
campaign for parliamentary reform of the inequity remaining after the Reform Act of 1832. The
charter contained six points that were to be presented to parliament, these where:

li value= 2 No Property qualifications

When the reform act emerged the working classes where dissatisfied as the act which promised so
much delivered very little.
The act did not enfranchise the working classes and the attitude of the Whig government in power
offered little hope to the working classes of them achieving the right to vote, this split the working
class and set the working class against the government.
Hostility between the working classes and the government intensified further with the implementation
of the poor law in 1832. The aim of the poor law was to reduce the burden of costs to the ratepayers,
remove inefficiency and end the giving of relief to those
in their own homes and insist that they enter the workhouse if in need of help or support. This new act
led to fear and suspicion as the workingman was being punished by the upper class as well as a
distinction between the `deserving and `undeserving poor. They saw this as being punished for being
poor.
The Poor Law Amendment act Passed Stated That:
No able bodied person was to receive money or other help from the Poor Law authorities except in a
workhouse;
Conditions in workhouses were to be made very harsh to discourage people from wanting to receive
help;
Workhouses were to be built in every parish or, if parishes were too small, in unions of parishes;
Ratepayers in each parish or union had to elect a Board of Guardians to supervise the workhouse, to
collect the Poor Rate and to send reports to the Central

Trends in Construction Dispute Resolution Essay

Trends in construction dispute resolution
Introduction
10% of the UK s gross national product is accounted for by construction activity, meaning there is a
lot of dispute resolution and it comes in a wide variety of flavours. 35 years ago alternative dispute
resolution did not exists (Gaitskell states 27 years, but paper was done in 2005...), and the phrase
dispute resolution was rarely used. The only forms of dispute resolution regularly employed were
court litigation and arbitration. On isolated occasions there might be an expert determination. These
are all final determinations, subject only to appeals in confined circumstances.
In the last 10/18 years a range of new dispute resolution procedures has become available ... Show

TCC is markedly different, a trial date can be set when parties are ready for it usually in a matter of
months. TCC judges lists are no longer full and be available to act as arbitrators if the parties so chose.
A recently published leaflet on the TCC court says that TCC judges can be appointed as an arbitrator
and the fees are highly competitive.
Statics displaying proceedings in the TCC over a 10 year period dropped from 1,778 in 1995, to only
390 cases in 2004, a drop in 78%. However, these statistics are not as dramatic as they sound, as many
trials in 1995 would not come to court these days.
All this changed due to the introduction of the Woolf Reforms, embodied in the 1998 Civil Procedures
Rules (CPR) which came into force on the 26th April 1999. A consequence of this is litigants must
fulfil numerous requirements of protocols involving alerting the other party of the nature of one s case
prior to commencing proceedings. This weeds out disputes that previously a decade ago would not
have intended to go to a trial.
CPR had an effect across the court system, proceedings dropped dramatically. Within two years of the
reform, civil litigation overall was down by 37%. Various civil court cost issues have made courts less
attractive as the CPR introduced a summary of costs to simplify the costs

How Does Paine Present The Struggles At Valley Forge
Looking Past the Struggles at Valley Forge THESE are the times that try men s souls. The summer
soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that
stands it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. (Paine 153) The winter at Valley
Forge, during 1777, held small struggles. like missing your family, to the great struggles of almost
dying from starvation and dysentery. The soldiers at Valley Forge had little food to eat and were either
too cold or could not breath because of the smoke in the cabins. The men that lived during that time,
however, did not give up. They did not stop to order some pizza of their iphone when they were
hungry. Even after watching men stop and take their last breath, they kept moving forward through the
trials. Though some would think this crazy, if I were at Valley Forge during the winter of 1777 and
1778 I would have decided to re enlist for three reasons which are: the army needs healthy men, to be
free you must contribute in the work, and we cannot quit if we want Britain to stop taxing us. ... Show

Britain, with an army to force her tyranny, has declared that she has a right (not only to TAX) but to
BIND us in ALL CASES WHATSOEVER, and if being bound in that matter, is not slavery, then is
there not such thing as slavery upon earth. (Paine 153) My evidence to this claim is in Document D in
Thomas Paine s journal entry. If Britain continues to tax, the colonists will not have enough money to
buy the things they use to survive like food, clothes, etc. This reason would cause me to re enlist
because they will think that we don t want to do anything to stop Britain from raising the taxes so the
will increase the tax amount higher and higher. But we need to quit taxing people upon death. No

Advantages Of Lenovo
3.1 Recommended Future strategic direction to attain competitive advantage
3.1.1 Proposed strategy
It is important for a company to choose a relevant internationalization strategy in order to attain
competitive advantage. Basically, competitive advantage is a company s ability to perform in one or
more ways that competitors cannot or will not match (Philip Kotler, Gary Armstrong, 2007, p182)
As Lenovo has been successfully internationalizing into other country by using joint venture as their
strategy, the new relevant proposed strategy that the company can use is direct exporting. Direct
exporting is considered relevant to be used as the new strategy for Lenovo because it is the least risky
strategy of all. In fact, Lenovo can maximizes their profit and minimizing their risk in direct exporting

As direct exporting is the new proposed strategy in 3.1.1, Lenovo will be focusing on the pressures for
global integration which is to seek cost reduction through economies of scale and arbitrage benefits.
As Lenovo wanted to attain competitive advantage through cost leadership strategy, they first have to
cut down their cost in order to be able to sell product with lower price. Hence, the pressure of global
integration in cost reduction is identified there.
The advantages that global integration can give to Lenovo through cost leadership are that they can
help Lenovo to save costs and achieve global efficiencies. They can also improve the quality of
product and processes. High quality product promotes global brand recognition and gives rise to
customer preference and efficient international marketing programs. They create economies of scale,
which can result in lower operational costs, higher quality standardized product and homogenization
consumer demand.

Market Segmentation of Skin Care Products
Market Segmentation of Skin Care Products Introduction The quest for beauty is an endless endeavour
at all times. Despite the old saying cautioning us that beauty is only skin deep, billions of dollars is
spent on skin care products every year for men and women, young and old alike. In this multi million
dollar industry, every company tries hard to maximize their profit. One of the most common methods
they apply is market segmentation. As every customer has unique needs and expectations towards

allows targeting of customers with similar needs of and response to the products. The key is to

Young girls are more concerned about acnes and blackheads while mature women are looking for anti
aging and anti wrinkle products. Genders do affect the choice of skin care products. In the past, skin
care products only belong to the girls world. Nevertheless, in recent years, men are increasingly
becoming more and more concerned about skin care. With a view to this latest trend, various brands
have started developing men s line. Income level directly affects the purchasing power of customers.
Skin care products take up a wide range of price levels from far less than a hundred dollars to more
than a thousand. Young girls who do not have any income cannot afford the expensive skin care
products while mature women with higher purchasing power focus more on quality and effectiveness.
Occupations also determine the need for skin care products. Models and artists generally have a higher
consciousness on skin care than people with less exposure to the public. Psychographics divides
customers according to their personality and lifestyle. Customers choose skin care products which
match their lifestyle. Busy business women may tend to spend less time on skin care. Thus, they will
likely choose the skin care products with a combination of functions which save their time and effort
in both selection and usage. Women who spend more time outdoors may need skin care products with
sun protection function. Lastly, behaviours also contribute to the difference in needs for skin

Television And Radio Ratings Data
Television and radio ratings data are used primarily to assist decision making with regard to
advertising, programming, financial analysis, and policy making, all of which have significant
economic or social implications. It is important to realise that audience measurement is a business; the
firms involved are intent on using their analysis to make money. This essay will discuss why ratings
are used, what ratings actually measure, specific to radio audience ratings, and the extent to which this
information provides a satisfactory understanding of broadcast audiences. It will be seen that ratings
do not usually generate any deep understanding of why people are listening to particular programmes,
but do capture audience size and make up reasonably well. It is the responsibility of broadcasters to
understand their audience in order to effectively grow it. Radio and television ratings measure various
aspects of the broadcast audience, from how many people are in an audience, their demographic make
up and sometimes their preferences, with the objective of gaining understandings which will help the
broadcaster to grow audience participation and loyalty. The reality is, though, that little true
understanding of audience preferences is gained. The understandings which are gained are often
superficial, but sufficient to support business decision making, particularly around advertising. As will
be seen, the extent to which ratings generate understanding of audience is all

The Physical Pain, Mental Suffering, and Moral Wickedness...
Evil refers to physical pain, mental suffering and moral wickedness. This pain includes such major
scourges as poverty, oppression, persecution, war, all injustice, indignity and inequality that occur in
human societies. It is however, important to note that although a great deal of pain and suffering are
caused by human action, there is much more that arises from natural causes as bacteria and
earthquakes, storm, fire, lightening, flood and drought. Another type of evil that can be identified is
mental evil. Evil in Plutonian sense is referred to as the absence of Good and Perfection. In this state
of nothingness, as regarded the process of necessary emanation from the One, evil precedes from
matter. Matter is the principle of Evil (Stump 134). From the matter, Evil is considered as the stage
where irrationality or lack of perfection prevails, Evil in the Plutonian differs from African
understanding of Evil. In African point of view Evil is considered as the lack of good between the
individuals and always is associated with devil and not only a state of nothingness as defined by
Plotinus. Evil is associated with the devil; it is a rival god that contends conflict with the good gods.
Plotinus describe evil as the lack of something lack of perfection; lack of forms for the material body
(formless), which is not in itself essentially evil. The descent of the soul to matter or material body
makes the soul vulnerable to the inclinations of Evil. It can also be explained as

Roles Of Queen Gertrude
In Hamlet, Queen Gertrude is a major role in the development of Hamlet s character. She is the
immoral mother figure who argues against her son throughout the book. Despite this, she does not
display authority roles and decisions, unlike her modern day counterparts. Queen Gertrude exhibited a
lack of authority, despite being a Queen, and is comparable to that of the modern woman, who display
more independent and leadership roles. Gertrude is not independent in the slightest. The concept of
fierceness is prevalent in today s society. Women can hold their own, have a say in what they do, and
what their destiny is. Gertrude, however, let fate take course over her life. Her former husband, King
Hamlet, was allegedly killed by his brother, Claudius. Half way through the play, Hamlet organizes a
play called The Murder of Gonzo, to guilt trip Claudius into revealing whether he killed his brother or
not. Featured in the play are representatives of the current King and Queen. The Player King says

We can therefore conclude that the bargaining power of suppliers and bargaining power of buyers are
relatively high in all the 3 countries. Koyo goods are all being manufactured in China now; giving the
suppliers the upper hand. Apart from well established brands, new entrants are also possible
with/without substitute such Cargos and Jeans, therefore increasing the competition for Koyo. ii.
PESTEL of Koyo Jeans (Currents Markets)
From analyzing the 3 current markets of Koyo (Appendix B), we can conclude that Koyo has been
focusing on the Asian market, more specifically Asia Pacific. We have to consider the fact that Koyo
is a fairly new player and therefore has not taken many farfetched risks. Even though it has a market
in France; if we look deeper we can see that it has only one store there. iii. Internal Factors
With the help of the Value Chain (Appendix D), we are able to conclude that Cheung was able to add
value to the company in 3 key regions which in turn increased the profit margin. Quality textile was
sourced from Taiwan at very competitive prices. The operations were streamlined and bettered over
time. Lastly, his careful selection of franchises helped him maintain control of the business and there

Neonatal Intensive Care Unit ( Nicu )
Up to 12% of deliveries in developed countries are preterm. This is approximately 500,000 premature
births per year. In 2009, my cousin was born ten weeks prematurely, weighing merely two pounds,
four ounces. After spending a copious amount of time in and out of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
(NICU) with my family over the course of a month, I developed an interest in its operation. Being a
neonatologist became my leading occupation of interest. I chose to further research this topic in hopes
of finding out whether or not this is the career path for me. In my research paper, I plan to go into
further detail about the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), common medical conditions found in
premature infants, how to react and treat these medical conditions, and necessary education to become
a neonatologist.
Neonatology literally means science of the newborn. This gives a good explanation of what the job of
a neonatologist consists of. Neonatologists specialize in the study of newborns, ill infants, and
especially premature babies. For the majority of the time, neonatologists deal with premature infants.
They are trained to know all the possibilities and outcomes of each disease in existence. This helps a
neonatologist treat an infant to the best of their ability and provide each family with the best care
possible. According to the internet site, Neonatology on the Web, The word neonatology is stuck
together from several root words and basically means science

Leadership And Commitment Of Senior Management Essay
Leadership and Commitment
Senior management leadership and commitment forms a key element of this model. A successful OSH
risk management strategy must be driven by senior Management. This is the level of management
mandated to make critical decisions on policy development of an organization. Risk management is
most effective when it is integrated into the initial stages of business and strategic planning. In
Australia the public service legislation places an emphasis on high levels of professional leadership
and expertise; and performance management, and accountability in devolved management framework
(Commonwealth of Australia, 2005). In a study done to establish safety standards in Borabu District in
Kenya it was found that 36% of head teachers indicated that Board of Governors were uncooperative
in improving safety standards. (Migiro, 2012). Training institutions like other organizations must be
led by senior management that is committed to safety.
2.3.1.2 Active Involvement of all workers
Active involvement of all workers in the workplace ensures success of any OHS management
program, and helps to develop a safety culture in the workplace. Open communication between
management and workers support OSH activities. Employees provide critical OSH information as
they are often in the immediate work area and identify hazards. They can provide valuable advice
about risks and possible solutions (Commonwealth of Australia, 2005). In Kenya the OSH Policy
demands that workers

Hume Illusions
Admittedly, we fail to have a sensory impression of the soul thus the idea does not exist as
demonstrated by Hume s theory. However, our senses are not always reliable since our brain can be
tricked to see, feel, or hear something that is not there. For instance, in the television show Brain
Games, a show about perception and the brain reveals in several different sets of illusions that the our
senses are not always trustworthy. In the first episode Watch This , Brain Games in particular messes
with the human senses in various illusions studied by different scientists and researchers. For example,
the narrator at the beginning of the episode posses the question about two squares, true or false is the

How Did Batman Kill The Joker
Let s take a look at Bruce Wayne (Batman). As a kid, he watched his parents being murdered by a
mugger right in front of him and this drove him to fight crime in Gotham City as Batman. Now we
take a look at the Joker was a one time failed comedian who turned to a life of crime as the Red Hood
to support his pregnant wife. Unfortunately, due to a run in with Batman, the Red Hood leaped into a
chemical vat to escape, thereby disfiguring himself. Combined with the death of his wife, he was
driven insane, effectively becoming The Joker. Each one of these character s are very unique, but in
different ways.
I can remember as a kid watching Batman Robin on black and white television, how the Joker always
committed crimes, murdered, etc. I can recall asking my grandfather why Batman never kills the Joker
in any of the episodes and he basically told me that if Batman killed the Joker, what would be the
purpose of watching the show? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Divine Providence Research Paper
Divine providence is the act whereby God manifests a particular set of conditions in order to bring
about some outcome in which He is aware of beforehand based on the current cooperation and
relations of the lives He is impacting. In doing so, His purpose is revealed which He has previously
deliberated on to bring creation into accordance with His divine will. To more fully consider this
point, the interwoven Hebrew terminology in this doctrine, using mainly the Theological Dictionary of
the Old Testament as a guide, will be described in greater detail.
In Hebrew, kwl is a literal term for a container and deals with holding something, typically a type of
substance of solid or liquid nature. It is related to measuring and is also used in the ... Show more

The verb bachar involves a conscientious selection based upon the required need of some plan. It
implies a separation in that individuals of a group are different than other groups as God delineates the
qualifications for this based on His prior, deeply considered thoughts related to His plans for mankind.
In the history of mankind, chapter seven of the Book of Deuteronomy describes this carefully selected
group as being smaller than all other people of the world in terms of size. This emphasizes the
thorough deliberation by God. As such, this outwardly shows what occurs when choosing to be in
relationship with Him. Namely, that those selected enter into a type of familiar and enduring
relationship with God Who seeks to bestow aid and gifts in order to bring about their

  • 2. My Passion In Writing Has writing ever impacted your life? I often write to express my feelings towards situations that are presented to me. Alternatively, I use writing to settle the rage within myself no matter the subject matter I always stay true to writing with internal purpose. Writing something down on paper is much easier for me, it s as though my hand leads my thoughts. It s wonderful to escape and through writing, I get that feeling. If it was not for me taking speech and given the assignment to write about something that affected my life I would have never found my passion for writing. Two weeks into the class I was shaken up when my teacher, Mrs. Murphy gave us a speech topic that read something that has had a major effect on you . This assignment had to be presented in front of my peers, but it had to come from a writing assignment. Mrs. Murphy didn t have many strict requirements for this assignment except she demanded that we present our speech with passion. After class on my way home many topics ran through my head but none of them actually stuck. I then took a right, turning into my drive way, seeing my house that is not yet livable since the flood I knew that this is what I base my assignment on. This was a painful subject for me but I knew that I could present passion through this topic. August 16th,2016 many hearts were shattered. Prolonged rainfall in southern parts of Louisiana resulted in catastrophic flooding that submerged thousands of houses and businesses. The way I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Fear Is Power Analysis The author Marie Lu exemplified the idea that fear is power in the novel The Young Elites as the central moral of the story. As stated, Adelina s power to create illusions is fueled by the fear and hate in her environment. Indeed the intentions Adelina has never fall short of being eerie and unsettling, to understand her view on how strongly fear triggers her intense ability. It had already been discovered that large numbers of people in one area provides more fear for her to consume. This passage just illuminated the statement revealing a bit of her twisted personality. I can practically smell the terror... The darkness inside me hungers for it, yearning to break free, and I have to force down the irresistible urge to flood this entire square with illusions of Underworld monsters. Even during all of this, Adelina s hatred for the Inquisition Axis still burns like a raging fire inside of her, Let the Inquisition Axis see what happens when they force us to humiliate ourselves. her revenge against them constantly lurking at the back of her mind. Another example of Adelina s power being strengthened to its peak was in the middle of war. One queen fighting to gain another s land. • 5. Energy Drinks In Sports Drinks Problem and Purpose The problem is that many people use and rely on sports drinks, many of which contain high levels of calories coming from sugar. This is a problem not only due to the many headlines on the obesity epidemic in this country, especially in regards to children, and how too many people eat too much sugar and this leads to major health problems like obesity and diabetes. I and many others use these beverages to refuel from an activity and feel more hydrated or just to enjoy, so I wanted to test these products and other beverages to determine which of the beverages contain the highest concentration of electrolytes. The purpose of this project is to see if there is the ability to gain enough electrolytes without the need to use a beverage with high sugar/calorie content. Hypothesis My hypothesis is that the beverages with the most electrolytes would have the least amount of calories and the beverages with the least electrolytes will have the most calories because calories in beverages are usually from sugar while electrolytes are made up of salt, calcium, potassium. I think this because usually when something is salty (what electrolytes are made of) it would be less sugary (what calories are made of) and vice versa. Background Research A great many athletes will drink a sports/electrolyte drink after an activity or workout, while others will just drink these to enjoy or to feel more hydrated. His passionate and often exasperating life and his drive for re invention fed into his prolific production of several works of art. Les Demoiselles d Avignon is a prime example of this. Picasso s unique style of painting followed ideas and traits from both Cezanne and Matisse. He went on to combine characteristics of both styles and add his own personal touch to create this shattering masterpiece. Picasso s appearance brought rivalry to Matisse and his styles and as they lived on the next few years, they figuratively battled one another and always comparing and contrasting each other s paintings. We can only be thankful and appreciate this art war between these two unique artists which created a platform for future artist and individuals alike. To conclude, the life of artistic techniques and principles have taken a drastic change from when it began. Police brutality has been a hot topic across the nation this past year; this statistic has caught the attention of many citizens of the United States because of the current inclination to blame police for unnecessary deaths. Although the police force is accountable for 35 lives taken by tasers so far this year, the statistic is not a dramatic increase from previous years. The failure to add this in the factoid causes a very different conclusion, because in fact this year we are below the average number compared to previous years. If this statistic was included in Haper s Index s statistic readers would not be as shocked and enraged by the police forces actions. Harper s Index use of this statistic, by itself , is deceiving the readers who make conclusions that the number of deaths was shocking and that changes need to be made, but in reality the statistic is not out of the ordinary compared to years past. In addition to leaving out the comparison to past years, it also leaves out the actual circumstance in which the victim died. For example four of the victims I researched were shot with a taser and due to heart problems, died [The Guardian]. In another case that I researched, the victim was shot with a taser gun and tried to continue to flee; the electric shock caused him to lose his balance and fall off an eight foot wall to his death. The police force s intent in many of these situations was not to kill the citizen but because of circumstances unknown to the police at the time, death was the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The drink is available in a tall blue silver can with 2 red bulls on the front whereas Krating Daeng is a gold short can. The two products are produced differently and available in different countries and red bull is a much more popular energy drink worldwide. Feminist in Susan Glaspell´s Play Trifles Trifles In Susan Glaspell s play Trifles a man has been murdered by his wife, but the men of the town who are in charge of investigating the crime are unable solve the murder mystery through logic and standard criminal procedures. What Bailey McDaniel meant by this is that women couldn t speak their ideas and how it was frustrating for them. Like in the play, the women were trying to help the men, but the men clearly didn t want their help or they just make fun of them, as a result, the women took matters in their own hands. Not only does the title have symbolic meaning but also the names of the female characters are also symbolic. Susan Glaspell purposely hid the names of the female characters to symbolize that they don t have an identity. Only the men receive a first name in Trifles, while the play refers to the women by their husbands last names. The role that society has cast them in is one that is defined by their husbands. This shows how women were oppressed by not allowing them to have their own names unless they were called by their husband s last name. Susan Glaspell gives good examples in how their marital status changes the female characters s names. In the play Mrs. Hale says: ... I heard she used to wear pretty clothes and be lively, when she was Minnie Foster... (1972). The reader can see how the name changes according to her marital status, and how she was unhappy probably because she was being oppressed by her husband. Despite the efforts of notable city planners such as Sir Ebenezer Howard, Peter Calthorpe and Andres Duany the potential of true sustainable development has not been realized by the majority of urban cities. The inevitable question asserts how cities can continue growth and development while corroborating the triple bottom line as a framework for virtually every city. Education At the foundation of every issue in the broad scope of sustainability is a fundamental lack of proper environmental education as an individual, which ultimately permeates into all of society. The education referred to here is not simply the standardized tests, memorizing and essays of the modern day classroom but the education, which takes place at home. As children, there is a universal myth that has been passed down since the golden age of the industrial revolution. This idea of the American dream informs virtually every decision Americans make and how society is structured. Simply put: Get an education, get a Job, have children, acquire wealth, capital and leave a legacy before you die. The fundamental problem with this is that there is no mention of our most basic responsibility, as environmental stewards. In short this anthropocentric paradigm acts a rearguard for sustainable development and begins as early as the conception of language in a child s life. Over the course of the next 15 years there are very simple yet, crucial strategies that must be in place to amend not the foundational goals of America or the American dream but rather, the means of achieving it. This calls first for a new approach to the environmental movement: disregard everything that has been labeled and stigmatized as environmentalism. There has been an ongoing debate on the political status of Puerto Rico for years on whether it should be a state or become independent, but I think it should be put to an end now because I am going to prove to you the reason why it is best for our island to be a commonwealth. No matter what anyone says I know that for my own island, we wouldn t survive as a state or as an independent nation, therefore commonwealth is the best option for us. Due to the Jones Act of 1917, we were granted a U.S citizenship, allowing us to travel back and forth between the U.S and Puerto Rico (Perez y Gonzalez 2011: 1843). This is very important to me and my family, otherwise my family living in the United States would not be able to come and see us all the time and vice versa! Therefore, I would never want to lose this benefit that the U.S has given us. The New Progressive Party consists of those who want Puerto Rico to become a state. This is such a bad option for an island like Puerto Rico because if we were to become a part of the United States, English would have to be our primary language and why would I want to sacrifice my language just to become a state? English is taught in Puerto Rican schools, but it is a foreign language to them. Less than 20% of Puerto Ricans can speak English fluently, which would make integration into United States culture very difficult. Hate and love, as well as selfishness and selflessness are the primary motivators of individuals as they cause the most amount of passion and debate. Morals will impact these values and cause them to change to match the situation along with the feelings of the individual. At times, these values may contradict each other, such as hate and love or selfishness versus selflessness, yet these contradictions are necessary for its inverse to exist. Without hate, love would not exist. Selfless actions could not be recognized if not for selfish actions. The effect morals have on the individual would go unobserved if there was not a range of beliefs. Although its values can contradict one another, American values are what drives America to the success that it praises itself for. Hate and love are seen as antonyms when in reality the two ideas come in a pair. In order to hate, one must have known love before for as it is impossible to hate something without caring about it in some form. It is very easy for love to develop into hate, and vice versa. Analyzing Gallagher’s Oroonoko’s Blackness Essay Analyzing Gallagher s Oroonoko s Blackness Oroonoko is a fascinating text overflowing with descriptions of complex relations between and within the different races. The attitudes and actions of the Aphra Behn and her characters would make for a rich analysis from any number of behavioral approaches, but there are many more layers to this story than the dominant racial themes. In fact, in Oroonoko s Blackness Catherine Gallagher argues that the main character s unusually dark skin color actually represents kingship, commodification, and the degree to which he and the author are embodied in the work. Though Gallagher recognizes the significance of Oroonoko s ethnicity in the conflict between the African and European groups, she ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She adds that Oroonoko is also associated with worth in that his color establishes him as a marketable good. Because he is black and able to be sold in the slave trade, a quantitative value can be placed on him, transforming him into a commodity. And the fact that he is darker than other blacks suggests that he would receive a higher price. So Gallagher believes that Oroonoko s blackness conveys a higher value, and because of her clear reasoning, the reader does, too. When these ideas, personal worth and blackness, are combined, Oroonoko appears separated from and elevated above the rest of his race. Gallagher writes that this creates the notion of kingship, that Oroonoko is really a culmination of all of his subjects less perfect darkness (94). Despite Oroonoko s royalty, the reader would naturally question why he should represent kingship when it is his grandfather that rules over everyone, including Oroonoko. Gallagher anticipates this and describes how the grandfather is merely brown and has a failing body, thereby falling short of Oroonoko s greater blackness and perfection, which better fulfills the common perception of the mystical body of kingship (94). She further supports this by citing Oroonoko s treatment of his subjects as property through the slave trade, which only kingship gives him the right to do. John Locke s Two ... The Interpretation of Aboriginal Dreams Introduction: Typically to understand a foreign culture s ontology, ethnographers and anthropologist examine aspects of the selected group s life such as researching into their methods of communication, religious values, if any, and their orientation within the world. An alternative and more modern way of learning ontological views of a culture is by taking a more interdisciplinary approach and looking towards analyzing not just how they view aspects of the world but why. There is a cross between fields of psychology and philosophy when anthropologists begin to analyze aboriginal conceptions of Dreamings as a way to shed light onto their epistemology. Many studies have been done to signify the importance of these Dreamings in the cultural shaping of their world. However, because emphasis is focused on the distinction and differences between Aboriginal and Non indigenous models of dreams, these two ideologies are often binary. After learning about the concept of Dreaming in philosophical, psychological, and ethnographic terms through the course of 10 weeks I want to propose that Aboriginal Dreamings are not so distance from the basis of non indigenous formation models of dreams. There is a large emphasis of the distinctions between Aboriginal Australians concept of the Dream Time or Dreamings and the (Western) formulation of Dreams. The song I chose to compare to a poem and explain why it could stand on its own as a poem is Let Her Go by Passenger. I chose this song because throughout the song the lyrics consist of many poetic devices. In the song, there is use of figurative language along with an oxymoron, alliteration and assonance, and end rhymes. The song, Let Her Go, could stand on its own as poem and make sense. There is an oxymoron and many uses of figurative language in the song Let Her Go. Passenger uses an oxymoron throughout the song in the chorus again, which also includes the title of the song. The lyric that was used is, Only know you ve been high when you re feeling low . This is an oxymoron because it contradictory terms, high and low, appear in conjunction with one another. It is also making a comparison which will be described later. The first use of figurative language in the song is, Everything you touch surely dies . Passenger uses a hyperbole in this lyric by making and exaggeration and not speaking of it in realistic terms. Everything anyone touches cannot and will not actually die, so the song writer uses their first figurative language. The second lyric I found that used figurative language was, But dreams come slow and they go so fast and Cause love comes slow and it goes so fast . In both lines, personification is being used. • 28. How Does Paine Present The Struggles At Valley Forge Looking Past the Struggles at Valley Forge THESE are the times that try men s souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stands it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. (Paine 153) The winter at Valley Forge, during 1777, held small struggles. like missing your family, to the great struggles of almost dying from starvation and dysentery. The soldiers at Valley Forge had little food to eat and were either too cold or could not breath because of the smoke in the cabins. The men that lived during that time, however, did not give up. They did not stop to order some pizza of their iphone when they were hungry. Even after watching men stop and take their last breath, they kept moving forward through the trials. Though some would think this crazy, if I were at Valley Forge during the winter of 1777 and 1778 I would have decided to re enlist for three reasons which are: the army needs healthy men, to be free you must contribute in the work, and we cannot quit if we want Britain to stop taxing us. ... (Paine 153) My evidence to this claim is in Document D in Thomas Paine s journal entry. If Britain continues to tax, the colonists will not have enough money to buy the things they use to survive like food, clothes, etc. This reason would cause me to re enlist because they will think that we don t want to do anything to stop Britain from raising the taxes so the will increase the tax amount higher and higher. Television And Radio Ratings Data Television and radio ratings data are used primarily to assist decision making with regard to advertising, programming, financial analysis, and policy making, all of which have significant economic or social implications. It is important to realise that audience measurement is a business; the firms involved are intent on using their analysis to make money. This essay will discuss why ratings are used, what ratings actually measure, specific to radio audience ratings, and the extent to which this information provides a satisfactory understanding of broadcast audiences. It will be seen that ratings do not usually generate any deep understanding of why people are listening to particular programmes, but do capture audience size and make up reasonably well. It is the responsibility of broadcasters to understand their audience in order to effectively grow it. Radio and television ratings measure various aspects of the broadcast audience, from how many people are in an audience, their demographic make up and sometimes their preferences, with the objective of gaining understandings which will help the broadcaster to grow audience participation and loyalty. The reality is, though, that little true understanding of audience preferences is gained. The understandings which are gained are often superficial, but sufficient to support business decision making, particularly around advertising. This pain includes such major scourges as poverty, oppression, persecution, war, all injustice, indignity and inequality that occur in human societies. It is however, important to note that although a great deal of pain and suffering are caused by human action, there is much more that arises from natural causes as bacteria and earthquakes, storm, fire, lightening, flood and drought. Another type of evil that can be identified is mental evil. Evil in Plutonian sense is referred to as the absence of Good and Perfection. In this state of nothingness, as regarded the process of necessary emanation from the One, evil precedes from matter. Matter is the principle of Evil (Stump 134). From the matter, Evil is considered as the stage where irrationality or lack of perfection prevails, Evil in the Plutonian differs from African understanding of Evil. In African point of view Evil is considered as the lack of good between the individuals and always is associated with devil and not only a state of nothingness as defined by Plotinus. Evil is associated with the devil; it is a rival god that contends conflict with the good gods. Plotinus describe evil as the lack of something lack of perfection; lack of forms for the material body (formless), which is not in itself essentially evil. The descent of the soul to matter or material body makes the soul vulnerable to the inclinations of Evil. It can also be explained as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
