Letter To Walden
Dear Henry David Thoreau, You may be dead now, but you left a huge impact on the world and on the
lives of high school and college students reading your essay Walden, for school. You spent two years
at Walden Pond. Why you spent exactly that much time, why you got away from society, why you
lived in a small house, will be cryptic to us. You say that this lifestyle was to avoid materialism and
find yourself in nature to achieve transcendence. And, this was true in your large essay, for the most
part. I began to learn from your writings (Walden, Civil disobedience), however confusing and
metaphorical they are. I respect you and what you have taught society. But, you always contradict
yourself. Also, I want to tell you know that in your essay of Walden you said that As you simplify live
your life, the laws of the universe will be simple; solitude will not be solitude, poverty will not be
poverty, nor weakness will be weakness. I agree with you but considering that in the light of these
modern days it is almost impossible to keep up with simplicity even though I know that to keep up
with simplicity is a good thing. like I said, it is almost impossible for our generation to live without
technology, without light, and without any facilities because in today s modern world technology is
one of the most important parts of each of the individual lives. Technology is like our soul, and we

To me, civil disobedience is not following the rules or going against the rules especially if a rule you
think is wrong or unjust and a good example of protest that happened recently is the protest outside of
the Starbucks . Well, I also agree with your concept that everyone has the equal rights and that the
civil disobedience is disobedience to the

The Influence of Gender in American Popular Culture Essay
Popular Culture in the form of media does not always do a fair job of reflecting accurate
characteristics of men and women. Society has added to this by creating what is known as gender
roles among men and women. They are like a type of social guidelines which men and women follow
in order to be accepted by today s society. Although this was designed with the best intentions it can
have negative results.
There are many examples of gender roles playing a part in our society. Television serves as one of the
most common voices for the social guidelines; it reflects dominant social values to its audience which
in turn reinforces them by presenting them as the norm. Television implies that it s a man s world buy
usually placing men ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Reality TV has taken the gender roles to a new level. These shows are even more unrealistic and
unachievable by today s young adults. Shows like MTV s My Super Sweet 16 a reality show about
spoiled rich teens throwing over the top elaborate sweet sixteen birthday parties. The show creates an
even bigger boundary between the average teen and these crazed rich kids. It reinforces this kind of
behavior again as the norm. They also teach kids to have next to no respect for adults and make it
seems as though adults get in the way of their lives. On one episode it stars a young girl who disobeys
her parents wishes and sneaks to Malibu for the weekend even after she was told repeatedly that she
was not allowed. When her parents found out she was there they cancelled her credit card. She was
more upset that her card was cancelled then at the fact that her parents knew she was doing something
she shouldn t. When her parents decided that she would not get the $75,000.00 Land Rover they
promised her, she through a 3 years olds temper tantrum and ultimately got her car in the end.
These shows have a bigger influence on young girls making it seem like money is everything and you
are not a women unless you have the stuff to prove it. They show case rare teens as normal everyday
Americans which in turns make the actual normal teenager feel as though they are sub par. Even the

Essay on A Study of Epistemology
A Study of Epistemology
In the sixth century B.C., Homer alludes to a separation of knowledge between the mortals and the
gods. He speaks of both gods and human beings as knowing things creatures of knowledge. However,
there is a great difference in the quality and the scope of the knowledge available to the two groups
(Everson, Pg.12). For the mortal human being the contrast between divine and human knowledge ,
paired with possible deception by the gods, has led him to question the idea of knowledge as it exists
independently, reminding him that there are many things he cannot know for certain (Everson, Pg. 13).
Epistemology, as it exists today, is a branch of philosophy that studies knowledge in an attempt ...

1).
The development of empiricism has fashioned a present model that is widely used today: the reflection
correspondence theory. The premise behind this ideology states knowledge results from a mapping of
external objects that are related to the brain through sensory organs (Heylighen, Pg. 2). Reflection
correspondence understands man will never reach an absolute state of knowledge, but somehow this
inability to distinguish reality from illusion, illustrates thought as a limit of ever more precise
reflections of reality (Heylighen, Pg. 2). Therefore thought, as a physical product of nature, is in itself
a limiting trait.
Another significant theory developed in this period is known as the Kantian synthesis of rationalism
and empiricism. Kant pictured knowledge as emerging from the human organization of perceptual
data on the basis of inborn cognitive structures known as categories (Heylighen, Pg. 2). His belief
parallels, to some extent, that of evolutionary epistemology, which assumes knowledge is constructed
by the subject, or social group as a means of adapting to their environment.
This construction happens through blind variation , or what is understood as the correlation of
different already existing pieces of knowledge. These pieces , or categories (according to Kant), are
selectively retained in combinations that

A Trip To Dodge City Research Paper
Day 2 Sunday June 5 Sweet Spring, MO, to Dodge City, KS 418 miles
A lot of driving again, through even flatter and boring Kansas farmland occasionally dotted with huge
grain elevators. Once you ve seen one wheat field ... Much of our travel was on U.S. 50, a historic
road that stretches from Ocean City, MD, to West Sacramento, CA.
We had a couple interesting stops. The first was in the Flint Hills of Kansas, so named because the
limestone is just below the surface and the rock is imbedded with pockets of flint, which were of use
to the Indians. This land was no good for farming because of the lack of deep topsoil, so it was
bypassed and thus never plowed or developed and is now the largest remaining tall grass prairie in the
nation. Prairie is a French word for meadow and when the white settlers moved west, they
encountered tall grass prairies from Texas to Canada and from Colorado to the Mississippi River. The
mature grass was about 6 feet tall. In the winter it dried up and fell over, making a thick dry thatch
(which served as a winter home for critters) that usually caught fire during the spring storms. The fire
would rage across the prairie until it came to a river too wide to cross and then ... Show more content

Roof collapses are rare, and a potential collapse can be detected beforehand because salt is elastic, not

A Critical Analysis Of Jackson Pollock And Steve Jobs
All individuals living within a community, are constantly being influenced by others while they
develop their personalities, habits, and morals. Some people are naturally inclined to follow and others
are confident enough in their own thinking to lead. A leader must think for themselves, allowing their
uniqueness to translate into creative solutions. An individual s decision to follow an unpopular path
will always be either applauded or scrutinized by others, which can be discouraging. It is important for
individuals to both listen to what others have to say about their work, while also remaining confident
in their abilities. Trailblazers like Jackson Pollock and Steve Jobs show that in order for an individual
to successfully take their own path in life and perpetuate it, they must find their calling, be confident
in their abilities, and listen to other s critiques without allowing themselves to become filled with
pressure or self doubt. Jackson Pollock succeeded in developing a new artistic technique to depict the
world by accepting culture s initial reactions understandingly and remaining confident in himself.
Pollock broadly describes the origin of his use of abstract expressionism in a 1949 interview with
William Wright. He explains how he practiced many of the great historical art techniques in school,
but felt that the modern painter cannot express this age, the airplane, the atom bomb, the radio, in the
old forms of the Renaissance or of any other past culture

Compare And Contrast The Three Stages Of Domestic Abuse
Why Signs of Domestic Abuse Go Unnoticed and How to Solve the Social Problem With Support

Introduction
In the United States, domestic abuse affects lives of thousands of victims daily. There have been
suggestions that this is an issue that individuals should face on a personal level; however, it is a social
problem that warrants broad level support in addressing. The case can be made that solving the social
problem requires a process that includes implementing vigorous steps towards reducing common
cultural misconceptions of how victims experience domestic abuse. Because domestic abuse affects

Mercury Surface Essay
Mercury s surface is covered with impact craters, basaltic rock and smooth plains, many a
consequence of volcanic floods and pyroclastic deposits. Other important features of Mercury include
vents which seem to be the cause of magma carved valleys. They are often grouped togther in
irregular shaped depressions called hollows that are believed to be the aftermath of collapsed magma

As the tectonic rift opens and collapses, and ocean fills the basin. Convergent boundaries (Destructive)
(or active margins) occur wherever 2 plates slide toward one another to make either a geological

the trail of the downward moving plate because it descends into layer, a trench forms, and because the

granitic continental lithosphere; neither mass is subducted; plate edges ar compressed, folded, uplifted.

Terrorism And Its Effects On The United States
Externally, states take into account any and all threats existing in their environment that may bring
about conflict to its right to rule. As states spend resources and time parcipaniting in competing with
its outside rivals in military and economically ways to neutralize the threats to its legitimacy. On the
other hand, how about the internal threats to the state legitimacy. With that being the case, is it
possible for a state to be as successful with neutralizing threats to its legitimacy imposed by its people,
in the same way as its external threats? To answer this question, yes it is possible. Generally using
violence is seen as the primary tool in achieving the goal of overthrowing the state, in the traditional
forms of armed guerillas or violent protesters rioting and looting. In this situation, the response from
the state consist of confronting the protesters with the army and police as a means of overwhelming
the violence with using violence upon the people and crushing the uprising. This practices has been
used for hundreds of years by states to protect their claim of legitimacy and is still today the ideal
thinking for handling protest.
However, now things have changed in the past couple decades. As a trend of revolutions lunched by
massive amounts of unarmed people protesting and taking part in nonviolent civil disobeys against the
state has become very successful. With this in mind, states face a new real challenged to their
legitimacy, as now the ways in which

The Commissioning Of The Twelve

Commissioning the Twelve
The commissioning of the twelve is a very special passage which tells of the apostles meaning and
what they must do. The passage is number 58 which spans Matthew 9:35 10:16, Mark 6:6, Luke 9:1
and Luke 10:1 12. This passage is an interesting one in terms of its reading. Not only does each
passage have its own meaning and information, we have two Luke passages in a single read, each one
having its own wording which I will go into later.
First passage we have Matthew who starts the passage off with Jesus going through all the cities and
villages teaching in their synagogues, and proclaiming the good news of the kingdom of heaven,
curing every disease and every sickness in sight. Jesus came upon a crowd and he looked at them with
compassion for they were being harassed like a sheep without a shepherd . He then went to his
disciples and said The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; ask the Lord of the harvest to send
out laborers into his harvest. Jesus called upon his disciples and gave them the authority of unclean
spirits, to cast them out, and to cure every disease and every sickness. It then states the names of the
twelve disciples going from Simon, known as peter to Judas the betrayer. Jesus then gave the twelve
specific instructions Go nowhere among the Gentiles and enter no town of the Samaritans, but go
rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. As you go, proclaim the good news, The kingdom

Film Analysis Of Robert Altman s Gosford Park
Set in the 1930s, near the end of the era of domestic service in the U.K, Robert Altman s Gosford Park
through its film design and its usage of heritages spaces and period details examines the separate
worlds upstairs and downstairs of rich society people and their servants at a country mansion.
Sir William McCordle is a wealthy industrialist turned aristocrat, with a magnificent country state
named Gosford Park in the English countryside, complete with staff. It is a world where everything
runs in order both amongst the bejeweled guests lunching and dining at their considerable leisure and
in the attic bedrooms and stark work stations where the servant s labor for the comfort of their
employers. Whether they like it or not, everyone knows their place. But all is not as it seems. Part
comedy of manners and part mystery, the film is a moving portrait of events that bridge generations,
class, sex, tragic personal history and culminate in a murder.
Ultimately revealing the intricate relations of the above and below stairs worlds with great clarity,
Gosford Park illuminates a society and way of life quickly coming to an end as it is a time when
World War II has not yet started, but the status quo has begun to shift away from the strict social
structure so integral to England for hundreds of years.
There are various elements in the movie which portray Britishness and establish class differences. In
setting the film at a historic country house, the film does

For many, abandoned buildings hold keys to the past. They are places frozen in time authentic, eerie,
and intriguing all in the same. Photographer and mixed media artist Samuel Quinn is one willing to
break laws and trespass property in order to explore and capture these deserted wonders. In 2008,
while in the South Shore driving his friend home, Quinn passed an eye catching abandoned white
house that stood lifeless in between two simple suburban homes. Two years later, in need of a new

A closed door with its decorated frame stands next to it. Quinn uses photo manipulation to project a
slide of one of the pictures left in the home. It is a vacation photo taken by a family who once lived in
the house. In it, we see a lake with a reflection traveling towards brownish black mountains topped
with snow. Much of the wedding dress and the door are transparent, allowing the whole vacation
photo to be visible. An antique light fixture accompanies a wide open doorway on the right wall. The
picture plane is confined to a relatively small space. It is mostly made up of straight lines, the majority
of them being vertical or horizontal. The lines of the stair railing and the right and left walls create a
directional force traveling from the foreground to the background. While observing the print, viewers
will be able to notice a pattern of rectangles repeating throughout the image. There appears to be a
monochromatic color scheme, based on the distribution of varying shades of white, along with the
brown railing, ceiling wood, and stain in the lower corner of the right wall. This could also be
considered a neutral color scheme.
In Untitled 5 , viewers see the interior corner of a room on the upper floor of the abandoned house. As
with all of his photographs, Quinn staged this scene. He discovered three wooden picture frames lying
on the floor and positioned them on the adjacent green walls that face the viewers.

The Role Of Fate In The Tragedy Of Titus Andronicus, Romeo...
Fate is inevitable, if one chooses to believe in it; however, karma may have a role in what people see
as only fate. Karma, being that you receive energy that you put out, whether it be good or bad, affects
your fate, or what people are destined to face in their lifetime. In the scenarios mentioned later, it is
undoubtedly true that an individual s personality will coincide with karma related turn of events. With
that being said, Shakespeare s tragic plays involve death and deceit, and it is easy to question if the
deaths are deserved because of the existence of karma and fate. In his plays, Shakespeare
conceptualizes fate as something negative, particularly fate equating to ultimate death. In his work,
Shakespeare uses variations of reasons for the death among his characters, which is usually dependent
upon their personalities and actions they ve taken. Between Titus Andronicus and Romeo and Juliet,
Shakespeare utilizes personality traits to illustrate fate through tragedies. The tragedy of Titus
Andronicus goes beyond his suffering and incapability to remain hold of the throne and his death. In
the play, one of the main characters, Tamora, enters as someone who seems to be a kind and noble
woman, but is soon known to be ruthless and quite malicious. One of her most ruthless moments is
shown in Act Two Scene Three when she is found in the woods with a Moor, Aaron. Surprisingly
enough, the affair is not what makes her ruthless, but that she told her sons, who found her

Mccutcheon V. Federal Election Commission Essay
McCutcheon v. Federal Election Commission was a 5 4 decision divided along liberal and
conservative lines. Shane McCutcheon is a businessman from Alabama who donated thousands of
dollars to various Republican committees and candidates. If he donated any more, he would violate
the limit to aggregate contributions established in the Federal Election Campaign Act and the
Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act. The aggregate limit capped the amount of money an individual
could donate to candidates and committees per two year election cycle at 123,000. McCutcheon and
the Republican National Committee sued the Federal Election Commission, which enforced campaign
finance regulations, arguing that the aggregate contribution limit violated the First Amendment ...

He argued that the precedent of the 1976 Buckley v. Valeo court case, which upheld aggregate limits,
did not apply in this situation because the court at the time did not consider McCutcheon s legal
argument and the situation in which aggregate limits functioned back then is 1976. Then, he
established that because an aggregate limit restricted how many candidates and committees an
individual to support, it limited free speech and thus was only justified if it was necessary to prevent
political corruption. He confined political corruption to bribery, arguing that if corruption was
understood as money resulting in more influence to or ingratiation from an officeholder, then the
government would have a say in who could govern, citing the precedent of Arizona Free Enterprise
Club s Freedom Club PAC v. Bennet. He also added that ingratiation and influence create more
responsive candidates and are therefore good for democracy. Roberts argued that aggregate limits
were not necessary to preventing bribery because any scenario where circumvention could happen
would be either illegal under earmarking rules or unlikely because many state parites would have to
participate in the scheme. There were also alternatives to preventing circumvention, including
restrictions on transfers among party committees and candidates, the tightening of earmarking rules,
and the implementation of broad disclosure

Armada Portrait Analysis
Elizabeth I, queen of England, was very strategic in the way she presented herself to the public. In my
short story, The Queen s Decision, Elizabeth s public and private selves are evident and occasionally
contrast with each other, especially during the decision to execute Mary Stuart, Queen of Scots.
Publicly, the Tudor queen had a strong aversion to beheading Mary Stuart, but her personal insights
depict hostility to the fellow queen.
Elizabeth sitting on a throne made of silk from Asia, in reference to England s colonial power. The
Armada portrait was a public display to spread a positive image of the queen as propaganda and to
showcase the Tudor queen s strength. Similar to Elizabeth s Armada portrait in which she places her
hand on the globe (particularly North America), Elizabeth is placed directly on colonized land (Asian
silk), portraying England s power over other nations. In this instance, Elizabeth s publicly
demonstrates her power and her physical embodiment of England in a subtle, meaningful way.
Furthermore, Elizabeth is dressed in a gold and white gown with pearls lining the bodice, inspired by
the Armada portrait again. Dubbed as the virgin queen, white and pearls are both indicative of
virginity and chastity, with gold being symbolic of wealth. Also, pearls are linked with the moon, an
entity that is difficult to reach and having immense influence over others, similar to Elizabeth herself.
Having pearls line the bodice, where the heart and stomach designate the inward seat of passion,
emotion, secret thoughts, affections, or feelings, (OED) illustrates Elizabeth s ability to restrain her
biological urges. Elizabeth s natural body intersects with the body politic, in that her natural body is
utilized to present a political ideal of her being in control.
William Cecil mentions Mary s plots against Elizabeth, notably the three major plots she is suspected
of committing during her imprisonment in England. The Ridofli Plot, The Throgmorton Plot and the
Babington Plot are the three times Mary attempted to kill Elizabeth, with her involvement in the
Babington Plot leading to her execution.
In Elizabeth s letter to William Cecil, April 11, 1572, she doesn t want to rush any irrevocable

will assist other parties in understanding the real estate market of the Gulf Coast. First, we found that
the average (mean) figures for the Gulf View condominiums are: List price $537,080, Sell price
$515,800, days to sell 186.65. From these figures and the data provided, we can calculate outliers of
the Interquartile range. The Interquartile range is a series of figures taken from data that are clustered
to a central figure, the mean (Elizabeth Staple, 2015). The median for the list price is $480,000, the
first quartile figure is $331,000 and the third quartile is $666,000. The first and third ... Show more

We estimate with a 95% certainty that the mean will be included in a 112 sample size. As well,
management requested a sales mean estimate for the No Gulf view category with an allowed standard
error of $15,000. We estimate with 95% certainty that the No Gulf view condominiums will have a
mean with in 32 samples. Finally, management has added two listing, one for a Gulf View at $589,000
and a No Gulf View at $285,000. Using our correlation coefficients, we notice that there is a very
close correlation between listing price and selling price, representedby .998 for Gulf views and .993
No Gulf Views. In addition if we create a ratio of mean listing price to sale price. For example, we use
the sale price and divide it by the list price, 515.8 / $537.08 = .96 and multiply this result by 100 to get
a percentage of 96%.Therefore we calculate that the sale price will be $565,440 for a Gulf View

Normative Development
In the latter part of the 19th century, psychology began to separate from its previous philosophical
standing, emerging more as a scientific discipline. Abstract laws were devised, and objective and
quantitative measurements of isolated variables analysed. Theories of development emerged and have
continued throughout history, providing organization, and a lens through which researchers can
interpret and explain any number of specific facts or observations (Sigelman amp; Rider, 2012, p. 32).
In postulating what is seen as normative development, these theories provide a model or map from
which science and society are largely influenced.
Normative development implies an individual will grow, experience and behave in a similar manner ...

The revolutionary thinking of Sigmund Freud and his psychoanalytic approach of the early 1900 s
challenged existing human nature and development and inspired offshoot theories that continue to be
applicable to healthy development in modern day society. Bandura s social cognitive theory, for
example, was devised in response to Freud s philosophy regarding the conscience (Peterson, 2010).
Bandura s theory asserts that individuals will behave similarly across the lifespan through modelling
or imitation. This behaviourist based theory explains human behaviour in terms of a reciprocal
interaction between cognitive, behavioural and environmental factors (Sharf, 2012). In observing
other people, the learner pays attention to and perceives the other model, constructs and remembers
the behaviour, and retrieves and reproduces this behaviour subsequently, dependent on motivating
factors (Archer amp; McCarthy 2007). An individual is said to be motivated internally, as in achieving
a personal goal, or vicariously, when the learner observes the consequences of the behaviour in the
model.
In his parameters for healthy development, Bandura gives no credibility to collective stages, rather
offers the process as being gradual and continuous in a generation of learning (Sigelman amp; Rider,
2012). Principles of learning can be seen to operate throughout life, and can be used to describe

Bachelor Of Kinesiology Program Analysis
Good morning members of the University of Toronto admissions board. I would just like to begin by
thanking you all for allowing me to stand here in front of you today as you listen to my application for
a spot in your Bachelor of Kinesiology Program. After a long pursuit of trying to find the right
program, I came across yours and once I read the program description I knew right away that this was
the program for me. Not only do I think that this program is the perfect fit for me, I also believe that I
am the most deserving candidate. But why you may ask? What separates me from the rest? Three
reasons why I would make a deserving candidate for your Bachelor of Kinesiology Program include
the following: I possess a superlative work ethic, I have a passion to learn about the human body,
along with my remarkable interpersonal skills.

From an early age I have been fascinated by the workings of life. The human body is a remarkable
machine, the way bones break, muscles tear, and how when injuries like that happen your body
instantly starts to repair itself. My passion for the human body continues to grow each day, and when I
find out new information on it I can t help but become infatuated. For instance, I remember my mom
used to get these really bad leg cramps, she explained it as a sharp, excruciating pain that made her
unable to even stand, and I would always help her by massaging the area. It got to the point where
every time she got a cramp she would call out for me to help her because I always made the pain go
away. Our body is something that we have with us forever and to me, learning about our body s
physiological and biomechanical responses to exercise is something that intrigues me. Your
Kinesiology program focuses a lot on these topics, and I think that this course would be extremely
beneficial to

Tommy Douglass Ideology
Tommy Douglas was a man of the people. His struggles during his working class life formed his
liberal ideology, so that no one else would have to. He was a man of the people, he lived without
healthcare which nearly cost him his leg , he witnessed protesters being shot, the list of horrible things
he s seen and experienced is rather expansive. However, Douglas was a man who wanted change, for
the benefit of regular people such as himself. His life experience being the normal man of the times,
and witnessing what happened to those who took action, allowed him to see the shortcomings of the
laws that were meant to serve the individuals of the country. The ideals he had formed were based on

How Does Walter Mitty Escape His Fantasies
The Secret Life of Walter Mitty is a short story by James Thurber, is a story of man who goes through
an ordinary life fantasizing about a secret life where everything is great for him. In his fantasies Walter
Mitty is everything he isn t in real life. Mitty uses these fantasies to forget the things he dislikes about
his reality. Walter s life isn t anything special and he goes into his fantasies to escape from the fact that
he is insecure/shy, he s being bossed around by his wife, and he can t do simple tasks. The first reason
why Walter Mitty escapes his fantasies is because he is not confident, or able to stand up for himself in
real world. For example in the text Mrs. Mitty asks Walter, Why don t you wear your gloves? (232)
and he puts them on. As soon as she leaves, though, he takes them off. This demonstrates that Walter

He also talks to the parking attendant in a low, nervous voice. Walter isn t calm person in real life.
Walter Mitty makes up for these mistakes in his another fantasy by becoming a famous surgeon. He

complete concertation and calmness. He is also able to take on difficult tasks in his fantasy unlike

Organisational Structure Of The Nhs
Leadership and Organisations: The organisational structure of the NHS in Wales
This essay aims to discuss the organisational structure of the NHS in Wales applying relevant
management and organisational theory. The essay includes the traits and contingency approaches
which is linked to leadership and management. In addition to this, it covers how the NHS implies
leadership and management into their organisational structure. In similar to this, the improvement the
NHS in Wales tend to make, will be discussed.
The National Health Service (NHS) in Wales is a public funded sector which provides healthcare

Tenant Evictions
The landlords have all the power and tenants have none. (Giwargis) The San Jose city council recently
voted to require just cause for tenant eviction, requiring landlords to provide a reason for not renewing
tenant leases. This is a profound change to the law. Previously, the city had a no cause eviction policy.
Now a reason must be provided, prior to eviction. Landlords and tenants stand on different sides of
this issue and the vote was close. The rights of tenants as well as those of landlords must be protected
and sometimes changes to the law are needed to ensure these rights are upheld. The recent changes to
the law were necessary to protect tenants rights and prevent harassment that would lead to eviction.

What does it mean to you to be a black girl? If you aren t one, what do you see when you visualize a

average black girls have chained us all to the earlier listed attributes. One side effect of this dangerous
connection is the wide opening for a new form of discrimination it creates. Whether it is depicted
through slave owners allocating the preferable duties to lighter skinned black woman, or in modern
times where a dislike in rap music categorizes you as not really black, segregation within black

racial segregation has been constricted to just the injustices routed by dissimilarities between racial
groups. What failed to be discussed was the intragroup discrimination occurring in the black society

education, in physical appearance, and in our social factors such as our behaviour, personality or what

black individuals carry. Throughout my life, I have dealt with unfounded accusations questioning the

Benefits Of Privatizing Social Security
Having enough money after one retires for a house on the beach, or the ability to travel, or any other
type of luxury, is a goal that many Americans have. Today Americans that are employed have to pay a
certain tax known as the Social Security tax. Social Security has become the largest single government
program in the world, accounting for 24% ($888 billion) of total US federal spending in 2015. (
Privatizing Social Security ProCon.org. ). With the largest amount of tax that Americans have to pay,
the nation can distribute the money it takes in out to those who are retired, disabled, unemployed, and
recently included, to Medicare. Back when this program was signed by Franklin D. Roosevelt on Aug.

By reading the arguments the main issue is determining whether or not Social Security should be
privatized or not. With roots of our nation lying in free will and the ability to form our own future,
privatizing Social Security sounds like a way to live up to that precedent. The question now is what
comes with privatizing Social Security? A few benefits seen can range from boosting money coming
into the economy, which will help the national debt, it will help the poor and the minorities, and the
ability to inherit accounts will be possible. With the long term privatization As stated by President
George W. Bush, Personal accounts, which could be passed along to the next generation, would go a
long way toward reducing that disparity. ( Privatizing Social Security ProCon.org. ) Basically what
this means, is say someone is able to open up a private account and begin monthly putting money into
that account, and by the time they reach retirement age or even right before retirement age they pass
away, then the money that has been saved up is no longer required to support them. With Social
Security the money that would be supporting them is no longer needed and will end up going to
someone else or to benefit the government. With a private account you can build up money that can be
passed down through family with the necessary guidelines to effectively make sure that the elders in
the family are compensated for financially. If this went and became something that the majority of the
nation took apart of, then one could hopefully say that overtime there would be less homeless people
roaming the streets, and more would be secure through their private family

charlie who is developmentally disabled and has the opportunity to undergo a surgical procedure that
will dramatically increase his mental capabilities. Why ban this book? Well in this book you can find
references to the use of alcohol, references to sexual content and Bullying. The book s references to
sexual content, alcohol use, and bullying influenced many parents to have this book be banned, but is
the banning of this book throughout the nation justified.
One reason why Flowers of algernon by daniel keyes was banned in many schools was because of the
reference to the use of alcohol. In progress report 16 the use of alcohol is mentioned a few times Fay

Imperialism In Uganda
During the imperialism in Africa, a lot of different events happened in Uganda. The imperialism had
effects on the country, some of the effects benefited the country, and some did not. Mostly, it did not
benefit the country. The British did most things to only benefit themselves, and did not care about
what happened to the citizens of Uganda. The British only wanted power over the country, and to
make a profit. Before the imperialism, Uganda was a prosperous country. They were one of the most
powerful and the largest kingdoms in Africa. was heralded for its royal history and development as a

They also had truces now with other organizations, like the UNFR. There was a organization called
the Lord s Resistance Army and they would attack the country. They kidnapped children and caused
more people to flee. They killed many people in Uganda to rebel. Uganda tried to contact them to stop
this rebelling, but they did not. Uganda tried to meet up with the leader of the group, but they did not
show up. They tried to make peace and come to an agreement to stop, but they did not want to. The
leader of the Lord s Resistance Army, Joseph Kony, again fails to turn up for the signing of a peace
agreement ( Uganda Profile Timeline ). Uganda is putting a lot of effort into trying to settle things
with the LRA, but the LRA does not want to settle any of their disputes. Uganda wants everything to
be mostly peaceful again, but they cannot do that without the LRA stopping their unnecessary attacks
against Uganda. The LRA and Ugandans end up signing a truce after having several peace talks,
causing a ceasefire. British imperialism did many things for the Ugandans. It did both good, and bad,
but the British did not do much to help them. The country was stable before the British came, but
after, they were not doing that well. Uganda did become stable eventually after the British. They
helped them obtain more resources and ways of transportation, but they took over their government.
The British only cared about what was good for themselves and were greedy. They only wanted power
and control over the country, they did not have many means to help them out, without mostly

The key thing that Topshop to do is find the variable, or variables that split the market into segments.

The need for segmenting a market is customer needs. To achieve this market research is needed.
Profilers are measurable, discriptive customer characteristics like; age , gender, income etc.

Essay on Analysis Of Its A Wonderful Life
This was an extraordinary movie that showed the homely small town moral values through glossy
studio production. I really enjoyed this movie. It has very quickly become one of my favorite movies
of all times. The characters were very good. I thought this movie to be beautifully told and acted, with
Reed, Barrymore, and other ensemble members perfectly cast. The actors were very convincing.
George Bailey was an ordinary guy. An example of this was went he was at the train station waiting

friends. That was a lesson that George learned. His friends helped him in a time of need, just like
George had done for them their whole lives. George learned that he really did have a wonderful life.
The words quot;It s a Wonderful Life, quot; tell a wonderful story. That s what the whole movie was
about. We as the audience, go to see just how wonderful George Bailey s life really was. The movie
shows the values of a family, and how much George took them for granted. He took them for granted
until he felt what it feels like to live without them. This film showed that there was a lot more to
George s history than just his life. He had saved Harry s life when they were just kids. Later on Harry
stopped an aircraft from running into a lot of soldiers, which saved all their lives. So in the long run
George saved all those soldiers too.
I believe this was an accurate depiction of the 1930 s. It showed how the town reacted when the stock
market crashed. People were frantic. Everyone was out of money. But through most of the movie,
George Bailey was strong about everything. He kept his head up high, and continued with his life.

One. Then Mrs. Bailey and others

Self Realization
The Impact of Self Realization
It is the losses in life that makes us who we are. Whether it be the loss of someone close to us or the
loss of our innocence, or former beliefs, or maybe the people we thought we were. Those losses are
our first steps into adulthood. After that life gets more complicated. But it s also filled with promise

In An Rsa Video, Brené Brown On Empathy, Brené Explains
In an RSA video, Brené Brown on Empathy, Brené explains that Empathy fuels connection, sympathy
drives disconnection. Theresa Wiseman, a nursing scholar in 1996, studied professions where the
relevancy of empathy was crucial and developed the following four qualities of empathy: 1.
Perspective adoption the ability to take the perspective of another individual or recognise their
perspective as their truth. This requires putting our issues and perspectives aside to see the situation
through their eyes. 2. Being non judgmental the ability to set aside one s beliefs or principals to assist
another in their situation. The judgement of another person s situation discounts the experience and is
an attempt to protect ourselves from the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, the spectator might draw comparisons between how he/she handled the situation in the past
and how the character handles the situation in the present, which could cause tension and unwarranted
judgment. Something which must be avoided according to Wiseman s four qualities. Presently, society
is quick to judge an individual or their situation. It is easier for a spectator to set aside their judgment
for the duration of a film or to suspend their belief even for a moment, in order to assess the situation a
character is in before making a judgment on them particularly when a character does not fit a certain
mould. Spectators are more willing to wait and see how a character develops before they give them a
final judgment. In reality, this is not the case because an individual will, more often than not, judge
another individual on face value rather than waiting to gain a complete understanding of the situation.
This brings up the idea that spectators are controlled less by their superegos while being a spectator. A
spectator is more accepting of anomalous and fictitious characters than what they are of real
individuals who are seen by society as non conformist. In some ways, being a spectator could be seen
as a shield from the judgment of others, others who cannot be empathetic towards the plights of those
who they perceive as anomalous. The ability to

Comparison Of Aristotle And Aquinas And The Highest Good
Comparison of Aristotle and Aquinas and the highest good Both Aristotle and Aquinas were prominent
philosophers who wrote profound works that discussed the concept of a highest human good. They
also included their own terms of achieving aforesaid good. In Aristotle s Nicomachean Ethics, the
highest good is a state of constant seeking as a way of achieving full capacity as a human. The
writings of Aquinas have some similarities to the writings of Aristotle, however, in Treatise on Law,
he discusses the type and elements of law and allowed the role of God to influence his ideas. His
analysis of law ultimately names the highest human good as being in the perfect community with God.
Aquinas s argument supports obedience to law, preexisting inclinations for the good, and a resolution.
Aristotle requires that the person constantly seek to know and be at work, which can act as a positive
force that drives humans to improve themselves. In Book One of the Nicomachean Ethics, Aristotle
argues for an ultimate end, and that knowledge of the good should be influential and important to all
human life. He explains that it is better to act aimed at the good of the whole, meaning society, and
transcend the level of individual preservation (1094b5 1094b10). Aquinas created a hierarchy of rules
to follow when acting in the name of the good. There is a specific order of the precepts of natural law.
The lowest inclination affects all substances and is the desire to preserve the self. Next,

Analysis Of The Poem Still I Rise
Discrimination, oppression, and gender inequality are acts that one would not think happens in our
present day society. African Americans have suffered racial prejudice and injustice in this nation for
many decades. The quest for equality and civil rights has been a never ending struggle even before the
famous 1960 s civil rights movement that was spear headed by Martin Luther King Jr. and many
others. Even though Thomas Jefferson wrote the famous words in the Declaration of Independence all
men are created equal ( ), we are consistently observing that the fight for human rights and equality
still exist today. Although African Americans have experienced and endured countless hardships and
setbacks, their spirit proves to be resilient. In the unforgettable poem Still I Rise , written by the
literary giant, Maya Angelou, the poem powerfully expresses the plight of the African American
people and how we have risen above racism and adversity only to survive and flourish with dignity.
Angelou is a magnificent example of how African Americans can triumph over tragedy. Her birth
name was Marguerite Ann Johnson. She was born to Bailey Johnson Sr., and Vivian Baxter Johnson
on April 4, 1928, in St. Louis, Missouri. During her childhood, she witness racism while she and her
older brother was sent to live with their grandmother Annie Henderson after their parents divorced in

darkness. He did not expect to face an adversary as large as himself, and began adjusting his strategy.
I do know you, the voice, female and familiar, responded. He could never forget such a rich accent,
straight from the planet Shili. I haven t forgotten your face. Two, purple blades sprang to life in the
gloom to reveal Jedi Master Kaeto Vaa. The Togruta who d tempted Lord Scourge from his post,
opening the way for Darth Kozen to advance as the Emperor s Wrath. The alien who killed the Sith
Emperor.
And I you, Master Vaa. Kozen understood the upheaval of emotions raging through the woman. She d
been corrupted by the most powerful being in the galaxy, though still managed to turn Sith towards the
light. Lord Pravin and Scourge had both been highly respected in their own rights. What sort of
woman could have such an effect on men steeped in the dark side of the Force? Kozen pushed aside
his unhealthy curiosity and focused on how best to remove his adversary. She would be a kill worth

History Of The Glenlivet Distillery
One of the most famous distilleries in Scotland, the Glenlivet Distillery also has the proud honour of
being the oldest legal distillery in that famous whisky producing area of Highland Scotland Speyside.
Located near remote Ballindalloch, the Glenlivet Distillery was founded in 1824 by George Smith,
however illegal production had taken place on the site for decades previous. He broke with that illegal
tradition and obtained a distiller s licence but this attracted unwanted attention from the illegal
smugglers and many threats were made against the distillery, Smith himself and his family. His
perseverance paid off though, and with Smith acting as the pioneer many more legal distilleries
followed and the illegal smuggling all but died out.

Comparison of Oedipus and Hamlet Essay
Comparison of Oedipus and Hamlet
Compare and contrast Oedipus and Hamlet. Is Oedipus more a man of action? Or is he more a man
driven by whim and sudden, rash decisions? Which character is more selfless? Does Hamlet show any
signs of selfish motives in his actions or inactions? Which protagonist seems more learned? wiser?
more religious? more loving? more incestuous? Which seems to be a better murder investigator? Does
Oedipus have any of Claudius motives when he kills the king, Laius? Then which murderer is more
blameworthy Oedipus or Claudius?
Different men in different eras: los41183 said in 2000: It is hard to compare two men with such
obvious religious and moralistic differences. Oedipus grew up in the time of the Greek ... Show more

Both protagonists were passionately determined to find the truth.
? Both were impulsive.
? Both had immense self pride, but
? Ultimately, both were good natured.
? They seek revenge for their fathers (although this is ironic in Oedipus Rex)
? Although O s arrogance may have led to his downfall, it is their impulsiveness that does in each
man: O s decree of exile parallels the gods requirements, but Hamlet s stabbing of Ophelia s father
right after NOT stabbing Claudius means that, in the grand scheme of things, he will have to die rather
than assume the throne.
? Both plays are tragedies that result from behind the scenes machinations the gods plot against O s
family because of Laius, while King Hamlet s brother plots against him.
? Perhaps the vivid imagery of poison in Hamlet parallels the curse in the family blood in Greek
tragedies in Oedipus Rex.
? Both plays are written in highly poetic language.
Passionate Oedipus vs. Pensive Hamlet: Becky Dorsett (Northern Virginia CC, 1998) offers this list of
contrasts between the two tragic protagonists:

10 renovations for skyrocketing your property s valuation, and how to get them done properly
Before you get too excited about Zillow s estimate of your home, remember that Zillow have never
been inside your home. In fact, their own website states that it is computed using a proprietary formula
and notably, It is not an appraisal . Therefore, the true value of your home could be very different to
what is displayed on Zillow. The great thing is, you can skyrocket the value of your property by
carrying out some renovations.
1) Paint
After living in a home for a while, it is easy to forget that it might have lost its fresh look. Some dirt
and scuff marks hold memories, but a prospective buyer won t see it that way. A lick of paint can ...

On the other hand, a well kept garden makes a home look more inviting, could increase the value and
also makes it significantly easier to sell. Fortunately, you can improve the look of your garden using
some books and Youtube videos. Besides helping to skyrocket your property s value, gardening can be
incredibly therapeutic.
5) Build a spare room
Nothing beats space in a home. However, depending on the way your house is built, it can be difficult
to extend into the loft or build into the ground (very expensive). Notably, you can build a spare room
which is attached to your home. This could be used as an extra bedroom, game room etc.
6) Tone down on the decorations
If you are looking to renovate in order to sell your home, it is important that a potential buyer can see
themselves living in your home. Therefore, the decorations which you think make your home stand
out could put people of. Therefore, some simple renovations would be to take down any bright
wallpaper, wall decals etc.
7) Kitchen
The kitchen is one of the most important parts of the home. Therefore, a kitchen renovation can shoot
up the value of your property and make it easier to sell in the future. In order to save money on a
kitchen renovation, buy the parts yourself and then negotiate with an experienced kitchen renovator to
fix it for you.

  • 2. Letter To Walden Dear Henry David Thoreau, You may be dead now, but you left a huge impact on the world and on the lives of high school and college students reading your essay Walden, for school. You spent two years at Walden Pond. Why you spent exactly that much time, why you got away from society, why you lived in a small house, will be cryptic to us. You say that this lifestyle was to avoid materialism and find yourself in nature to achieve transcendence. And, this was true in your large essay, for the most part. I began to learn from your writings (Walden, Civil disobedience), however confusing and metaphorical they are. I respect you and what you have taught society. But, you always contradict yourself. Also, I want to tell you know that in your essay of Walden you said that As you simplify live your life, the laws of the universe will be simple; solitude will not be solitude, poverty will not be poverty, nor weakness will be weakness. I agree with you but considering that in the light of these modern days it is almost impossible to keep up with simplicity even though I know that to keep up with simplicity is a good thing. like I said, it is almost impossible for our generation to live without technology, without light, and without any facilities because in today s modern world technology is one of the most important parts of each of the individual lives. • 3. The Influence of Gender in American Popular Culture Essay Popular Culture in the form of media does not always do a fair job of reflecting accurate characteristics of men and women. Society has added to this by creating what is known as gender roles among men and women. They are like a type of social guidelines which men and women follow in order to be accepted by today s society. Although this was designed with the best intentions it can have negative results. There are many examples of gender roles playing a part in our society. Television serves as one of the most common voices for the social guidelines; it reflects dominant social values to its audience which in turn reinforces them by presenting them as the norm. • 4. Essay on A Study of Epistemology A Study of Epistemology In the sixth century B.C., Homer alludes to a separation of knowledge between the mortals and the gods. He speaks of both gods and human beings as knowing things creatures of knowledge. However, there is a great difference in the quality and the scope of the knowledge available to the two groups (Everson, Pg.12). For the mortal human being the contrast between divine and human knowledge , paired with possible deception by the gods, has led him to question the idea of knowledge as it exists independently, reminding him that there are many things he cannot know for certain (Everson, Pg. 13). Epistemology, as it exists today, is a branch of philosophy that studies knowledge in an attempt ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 1). The development of empiricism has fashioned a present model that is widely used today: the reflection correspondence theory. The premise behind this ideology states knowledge results from a mapping of external objects that are related to the brain through sensory organs (Heylighen, Pg. 2). Reflection correspondence understands man will never reach an absolute state of knowledge, but somehow this inability to distinguish reality from illusion, illustrates thought as a limit of ever more precise reflections of reality (Heylighen, Pg. 2). Therefore thought, as a physical product of nature, is in itself a limiting trait. Another significant theory developed in this period is known as the Kantian synthesis of rationalism and empiricism. Kant pictured knowledge as emerging from the human organization of perceptual data on the basis of inborn cognitive structures known as categories (Heylighen, Pg. 2). His belief parallels, to some extent, that of evolutionary epistemology, which assumes knowledge is constructed by the subject, or social group as a means of adapting to their environment. This construction happens through blind variation , or what is understood as the correlation of different already existing pieces of knowledge. These pieces , or categories (according to Kant), are selectively retained in combinations that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This land was no good for farming because of the lack of deep topsoil, so it was bypassed and thus never plowed or developed and is now the largest remaining tall grass prairie in the nation. • 7. A Critical Analysis Of Jackson Pollock And Steve Jobs All individuals living within a community, are constantly being influenced by others while they develop their personalities, habits, and morals. Some people are naturally inclined to follow and others are confident enough in their own thinking to lead. A leader must think for themselves, allowing their uniqueness to translate into creative solutions. An individual s decision to follow an unpopular path will always be either applauded or scrutinized by others, which can be discouraging. It is important for individuals to both listen to what others have to say about their work, while also remaining confident in their abilities. Trailblazers like Jackson Pollock and Steve Jobs show that in order for an individual to successfully take their own path in life and perpetuate it, they must find their calling, be confident in their abilities, and listen to other s critiques without allowing themselves to become filled with pressure or self doubt. Jackson Pollock succeeded in developing a new artistic technique to depict the world by accepting culture s initial reactions understandingly and remaining confident in himself. Pollock broadly describes the origin of his use of abstract expressionism in a 1949 interview with William Wright. As states spend resources and time parcipaniting in competing with its outside rivals in military and economically ways to neutralize the threats to its legitimacy. On the other hand, how about the internal threats to the state legitimacy. With that being the case, is it possible for a state to be as successful with neutralizing threats to its legitimacy imposed by its people, in the same way as its external threats? To answer this question, yes it is possible. Generally using violence is seen as the primary tool in achieving the goal of overthrowing the state, in the traditional forms of armed guerillas or violent protesters rioting and looting. In this situation, the response from the state consist of confronting the protesters with the army and police as a means of overwhelming the violence with using violence upon the people and crushing the uprising. • 12. The Commissioning Of The Twelve Vincent DiRienzo Religion 409 Commissioning the Twelve The commissioning of the twelve is a very special passage which tells of the apostles meaning and what they must do. Not only does each passage have its own meaning and information, we have two Luke passages in a single read, each one having its own wording which I will go into later. First passage we have Matthew who starts the passage off with Jesus going through all the cities and villages teaching in their synagogues, and proclaiming the good news of the kingdom of heaven, curing every disease and every sickness in sight. Jesus came upon a crowd and he looked at them with compassion for they were being harassed like a sheep without a shepherd . He then went to his disciples and said The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; ask the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest. Jesus called upon his disciples and gave them the authority of unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to cure every disease and every sickness. It then states the names of the twelve disciples going from Simon, known as peter to Judas the betrayer. Jesus then gave the twelve specific instructions Go nowhere among the Gentiles and enter no town of the Samaritans, but go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. Sir William McCordle is a wealthy industrialist turned aristocrat, with a magnificent country state named Gosford Park in the English countryside, complete with staff. It is a world where everything runs in order both amongst the bejeweled guests lunching and dining at their considerable leisure and in the attic bedrooms and stark work stations where the servant s labor for the comfort of their employers. • 17. The Role Of Fate In The Tragedy Of Titus Andronicus, Romeo... Fate is inevitable, if one chooses to believe in it; however, karma may have a role in what people see as only fate. Karma, being that you receive energy that you put out, whether it be good or bad, affects your fate, or what people are destined to face in their lifetime. In the scenarios mentioned later, it is undoubtedly true that an individual s personality will coincide with karma related turn of events. With that being said, Shakespeare s tragic plays involve death and deceit, and it is easy to question if the deaths are deserved because of the existence of karma and fate. In his plays, Shakespeare conceptualizes fate as something negative, particularly fate equating to ultimate death. In his work, Shakespeare uses variations of reasons for the death among his characters, which is usually dependent upon their personalities and actions they ve taken. Between Titus Andronicus and Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare utilizes personality traits to illustrate fate through tragedies. The tragedy of Titus Andronicus goes beyond his suffering and incapability to remain hold of the throne and his death. In the play, one of the main characters, Tamora, enters as someone who seems to be a kind and noble woman, but is soon known to be ruthless and quite malicious. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He argued that the precedent of the 1976 Buckley v. Valeo court case, which upheld aggregate limits, did not apply in this situation because the court at the time did not consider McCutcheon s legal argument and the situation in which aggregate limits functioned back then is 1976. Then, he established that because an aggregate limit restricted how many candidates and committees an individual to support, it limited free speech and thus was only justified if it was necessary to prevent political corruption. He confined political corruption to bribery, arguing that if corruption was understood as money resulting in more influence to or ingratiation from an officeholder, then the government would have a say in who could govern, citing the precedent of Arizona Free Enterprise Club s Freedom Club PAC v. Bennet. He also added that ingratiation and influence create more responsive candidates and are therefore good for democracy. Roberts argued that aggregate limits were not necessary to preventing bribery because any scenario where circumvention could happen would be either illegal under earmarking rules or unlikely because many state parites would have to participate in the scheme. There were also alternatives to preventing circumvention, including restrictions on transfers among party committees and candidates, the tightening of earmarking rules, and the implementation of broad disclosure ... • 20. Armada Portrait Analysis Elizabeth I, queen of England, was very strategic in the way she presented herself to the public. In my short story, The Queen s Decision, Elizabeth s public and private selves are evident and occasionally contrast with each other, especially during the decision to execute Mary Stuart, Queen of Scots. Publicly, the Tudor queen had a strong aversion to beheading Mary Stuart, but her personal insights depict hostility to the fellow queen. Elizabeth sitting on a throne made of silk from Asia, in reference to England s colonial power. The Armada portrait was a public display to spread a positive image of the queen as propaganda and to showcase the Tudor queen s strength. Similar to Elizabeth s Armada portrait in which she places her hand on the globe (particularly North America), Elizabeth is placed directly on colonized land (Asian silk), portraying England s power over other nations. In this instance, Elizabeth s publicly demonstrates her power and her physical embodiment of England in a subtle, meaningful way. Furthermore, Elizabeth is dressed in a gold and white gown with pearls lining the bodice, inspired by the Armada portrait again. Dubbed as the virgin queen, white and pearls are both indicative of virginity and chastity, with gold being symbolic of wealth. Also, pearls are linked with the moon, an entity that is difficult to reach and having immense influence over others, similar to Elizabeth herself. Having pearls line the bodice, where the heart and stomach designate the inward seat of passion, emotion, secret thoughts, affections, or feelings, (OED) illustrates Elizabeth s ability to restrain her biological urges. Elizabeth s natural body intersects with the body politic, in that her natural body is utilized to present a political ideal of her being in control. William Cecil mentions Mary s plots against Elizabeth, notably the three major plots she is suspected of committing during her imprisonment in England. The Ridofli Plot, The Throgmorton Plot and the Babington Plot are the three times Mary attempted to kill Elizabeth, with her involvement in the Babington Plot leading to her execution. Abstract laws were devised, and objective and quantitative measurements of isolated variables analysed. Theories of development emerged and have continued throughout history, providing organization, and a lens through which researchers can interpret and explain any number of specific facts or observations (Sigelman amp; Rider, 2012, p. 32). In postulating what is seen as normative development, these theories provide a model or map from which science and society are largely influenced. The revolutionary thinking of Sigmund Freud and his psychoanalytic approach of the early 1900 s challenged existing human nature and development and inspired offshoot theories that continue to be applicable to healthy development in modern day society. Bandura s social cognitive theory, for example, was devised in response to Freud s philosophy regarding the conscience (Peterson, 2010). Bandura s theory asserts that individuals will behave similarly across the lifespan through modelling or imitation. This behaviourist based theory explains human behaviour in terms of a reciprocal interaction between cognitive, behavioural and environmental factors (Sharf, 2012). In observing other people, the learner pays attention to and perceives the other model, constructs and remembers the behaviour, and retrieves and reproduces this behaviour subsequently, dependent on motivating factors (Archer amp; McCarthy 2007). An individual is said to be motivated internally, as in achieving a personal goal, or vicariously, when the learner observes the consequences of the behaviour in the model. In his parameters for healthy development, Bandura gives no credibility to collective stages, rather offers the process as being gradual and continuous in a generation of learning (Sigelman amp; Rider, 2012). Principles of learning can be seen to operate throughout life, and can be used to describe ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

With roots of our nation lying in free will and the ability to form our own future, privatizing Social Security sounds like a way to live up to that precedent. The question now is what comes with privatizing Social Security? A few benefits seen can range from boosting money coming into the economy, which will help the national debt, it will help the poor and the minorities, and the ability to inherit accounts will be possible. With the long term privatization As stated by President George W. Bush, Personal accounts, which could be passed along to the next generation, would go a long way toward reducing that disparity. ( Privatizing Social Security ProCon.org. ) Basically what this means, is say someone is able to open up a private account and begin monthly putting money into that account, and by the time they reach retirement age or even right before retirement age they pass away, then the money that has been saved up is no longer required to support them. With Social Security the money that would be supporting them is no longer needed and will end up going to someone else or to benefit the government. With a private account you can build up money that can be passed down through family with the necessary guidelines to effectively make sure that the elders in the family are compensated for financially. Perspective adoption the ability to take the perspective of another individual or recognise their perspective as their truth. It is easier for a spectator to set aside their judgment for the duration of a film or to suspend their belief even for a moment, in order to assess the situation a character is in before making a judgment on them particularly when a character does not fit a certain mould. Spectators are more willing to wait and see how a character develops before they give them a final judgment. In reality, this is not the case because an individual will, more often than not, judge another individual on face value rather than waiting to gain a complete understanding of the situation. This brings up the idea that spectators are controlled less by their superegos while being a spectator. A spectator is more accepting of anomalous and fictitious characters than what they are of real individuals who are seen by society as non conformist. In some ways, being a spectator could be seen as a shield from the judgment of others, others who cannot be empathetic towards the plights of those who they perceive as anomalous. The ability to ... • 38. Comparison Of Aristotle And Aquinas And The Highest Good Comparison of Aristotle and Aquinas and the highest good Both Aristotle and Aquinas were prominent philosophers who wrote profound works that discussed the concept of a highest human good. They also included their own terms of achieving aforesaid good. In Aristotle s Nicomachean Ethics, the highest good is a state of constant seeking as a way of achieving full capacity as a human. The writings of Aquinas have some similarities to the writings of Aristotle, however, in Treatise on Law, he discusses the type and elements of law and allowed the role of God to influence his ideas. His analysis of law ultimately names the highest human good as being in the perfect community with God. Aquinas s argument supports obedience to law, preexisting inclinations for the good, and a resolution. Aristotle requires that the person constantly seek to know and be at work, which can act as a positive force that drives humans to improve themselves. In Book One of the Nicomachean Ethics, Aristotle argues for an ultimate end, and that knowledge of the good should be influential and important to all human life. He explains that it is better to act aimed at the good of the whole, meaning society, and transcend the level of individual preservation (1094b5 1094b10). Aquinas created a hierarchy of rules to follow when acting in the name of the good. There is a specific order of the precepts of natural law.
