Emperor s New Clothes By Panic ! At The Disco
What exactly makes art beautiful? Is it the way we see it? Is it the emotions we feel with it?
Sure art may trigger an emotion but that doesn t mean you have to like it. In my opinion I can t
identify what makes art beautiful. In the music video for Emperor s New Clothes by Panic! At
The Disco, It depicts a man who thought he was going to heaven but ended up falling down into
a pre hell so to say where he started to become this demon with sharp teeth and devilish horns. It
ends with him being welcomed into the hell with a red light shining on him and a sadistic smile

Oryx And Crake Mental Health

LAR 101 The Power of Stories
15 October 2017
In the novels Oryx and Crake and Frankenstein, mental health impacts the main characters and their
everyday lives. Each character has been through different life changes that influence their state of
mind. To more thoroughly comprehend what each character is going through, this paper analyzes
the life changes that occur due to each characters mental state. In the novel Oryx and Crake, written
by Margaret Atwood, one of the main characters, Jimmy, grew up with a difficult childhood. He
was born an only child to his mother and father. His father worked for a company called OrganInc
where he was a genographer, looking at the history of behavior patterns in ... Show more content on

This is obviously a sign of bad mental health, but there were several incidents that led up to this
state of mind. An often occurrence were the fights between her and her husband. She didn t
agree with his ethics and motivations to grow human organs such as kidneys, brain tissue, and
livers inside pigoons. The goal of the pigoon project was to grow foolproof human tissue organs
in a transgenic knockout pig (Atwood 22). This was an issue that may have caused Jimmy s
mother to be neglectful towards her son was her depression. Depression is a mental illness that
affected her everyday life. She was so exhausted with the fights with her husband and the
depression on top of that. This caused her to be uninterested in her son and it is also what
caused her to run away with Jimmy s pet. This shows that mental illness isn t always caused by
something, but rather someone is born with it. People with depression always have it, but it can
be triggered to where it affects their everyday lives. Jimmy s mother s depression may have been
triggered by stress about her husband s job and constant arguing with her husband. Either way,
whether it is ones chemical make up or something that causes it, mental health really does affect
the way people live their lives. Another main character in Oryx and Crake was Crake. Crake s real
name was Glenn, but he and Jimmy would always play a game where a code name was required and

My Passion For Palliative And Hospice Care Social Work
When it came to envisioning my advanced block placement, I knew I wanted something different,
something to transform the way I practiced social work for the last fourteen years. The timing
ideal as my passion for palliative and hospice care social work was in transition. I seized the
opportunity in preserving it by securing an international internship where I could research the
cultural differences in the quality of both the tangible and intangible deliverables in providing
compassionate end of life care. The destination, Nepal!
Knowing I was traveling to an underdeveloped nation, I did my homework, or did I? I partnered
with an ancillary community college who I thought focused on expanding the development of
social work as a discipline in Nepal and were teaching BSW students to become nearly the first truly
educated social work practitioners in the country, which excited me. Disappointingly, the system
lacked structure and organization.
My trip started off tumultuously, as did my relationship with my host, consequentially who lacked
hospitality among other qualities, leaving me to discover the copious cultural dichotomies and
challenges around every corner, alone, daunted by the lack of local support. Thankfully my Seminar
Instructor, Wanda Anderson, LICSW and my classmates supported me through the pit falls every
step of the way!!! Learning that the Nepalese culture and its diverse issues, for example, the
concept of time management, which is idle, punctuality

local tribes and communities back then. According to the National Park Service website (2016),
Eight contemporary tribes of the Olympic Peninsula the Hoh, Ozette, Makah, Quinault, Quileute,
Queets, Lower Elwha Klallam, and Jamestown S Klallam were the original tribes that stay and took
care of the area. They often interacted with the park, thus creating strong relationships from the
beginning. Around the 1880s, many visitors, naturalists, and others were in awe by the mountains

Immune Thrombocytopenic Purpura Research Paper
Immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) is a rare disease that people would never know existed
unless affected by it. The disease is characterized by individuals having extremely low platelets
levels. Platelets are created from megakaryocytes that are located within the bone marrow. The
megakaryocytes break off pieces small enough to leave the bone marrow and join the other blood
cells circulating in the body. Platelets are responsible for clotting the blood when an injury
occurs. They do this by agglutinating, or sticking to themselves at the site of the injury. Platelets
are responsible for activating other clotting factors found in the blood. If someone does not have
adequate platelets, such as individuals affected byITP, they may not be able to clot their blood.
For a simple scratch it is not too worrisome, but if the individual falls or hits their head they can
experience internal bleeding that can be fatal if not treated. Two symptoms are hallmarks for ITP.
They include petichiae, micro hemorrhaging of vessels that typically occurs on the lower
extremities and purpura, excessive bruising of the skin from minor bumps and cuts. Through
history ITP has not only... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Usually trials are completed on patients, but considering the ethics of such trials they may not
occur. Instead in the 1950 s a group of doctors at Barnes Hospital in St Louis opted to test their
treatment theories on themselves (Idiopathic, 2014). Harrington transfused blood from a patient
with chronic ITP into himself so that the effects on the bone marrow could be studied (Idiopathic,
2014). The results from the study determined that the bone marrow was not affected and therefore
ITP was related to the platelets themselves. The Harrington Hollingsworth experiment had given the
disease an origin, the platelets themselves. The name of the disease was changed to what it is now
considered, immune thrombocytopenic

The National Aboriginal Community Controlled Health...
INTRODUCTION
The National Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation, (NACCHO) is an existing
representation of the hope of Aboriginal communities and their fight for self rule. NACCHO is the
nationwide climax organization representative. It controls over 150 Aboriginal Community Health
Services (ACCHSs) across the country on Aboriginal health and issues.
BACKGROUND
Since the 1970 s, many Indigenous communities have established their own independent,
community controlled health services (ACCHs) and an over arching representatives advocacy
body, the National Aboriginal Controlled Community Health Organisation (NACCHO previously
NAIHO) was formed in 1975.
The National Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (NACCHO) was established
in 1992, as the new national ACCHS umbrella organisation replaced the NAIHO.
By changing the name it reflected the fact that Torres Strait Islanders undertook their own campaign
for self determination. However, they wished to establish their own representative organisations.
The history of it extends back to a meeting in Albury in 1974. In 1997, NACCHO was funded by
the Federal Government to launch a branch in Canberra. It significantly increased the Aboriginal
Peoples involvement capability in ACCHSs. However, this contributed the participation in national
health policy development.

Texas Natural Disasters
Residents of the Lone Star State are fond of saying that everything is bigger in Texas, from football
teams to marching bands, farmers markets to barbecue favorites. But a corollary to that oft spoken
refrain is everything is better in Texas as well. After all, the state was the second most inbound
location for families who moved in 2015, according to the U.S. Census Bureau, and for eight
consecutive years, Harris County maintained the distinction as the U.S. county with the most
significant annual population growth.
All that being said, the storms that sweep through the Lone Star State are similarly noteworthy,
both for the amount of destruction they cause, and the way in which residents and officials come

Violence In The Oresteia
In the trilogy The Oresteia, Aeschylus shows the never ending cycle of violence within the house of
Atreus. The cycle acts as a net entrapping Agamemnon, Clytemnestra, Orestes, and many other
characters and producing actions throughout the play that provoke the audience to contemplate
right versus wrong, self help justice (in the form of revenge) versus justice by trial, and honor
versus dignity. Although the events taking place throughout the play are outlandish, the audience
can still look at the character s actions and thoughts and see that they are genuinely understandable
human encounters. From this, a sense of humanity that we all have certain concerns and duties and
we must respond to them whether that be with good or bad can be noted... Show more content on

While Clytemnestra turned on Agamemnon in order to avenge her daughter s death an action that
most people can understand the chorus decides to turn on Clytemnestra due to her outrageous
crime. The chorus concern does not lie within loyalty to the family though, it lies within the
loyalty of seeking justice for wrong doings. The chorus states that, The plunderer plundered, the
killer pays the price, (L 1590) leading the audience to believe that the chorus views Agamemnon s
death as justifiable considering that Clytemnestra is only murdering the murderer. Instead, the
chorus believes that Agamemnon s death is a huge loss to the community due to his status as a
war hero. Therefore, the chorus views the sacrifice of Iphigenia as a necessary price to pay in
order to do the greater good, which in this case was fighting the war. The valor that emerges from a
successful war is something to be proud of, especially in the context of the play, which is why the
audience could also rationalize the chorus point of view one death in order to continue on in a war
that could save thousands of people from dying is quite miniscule. By continuing the war efforts,
countrymen began to accept Agamemnon acceptance being an integral part of human nature. In
this case, the audience can understand wanting to have the acceptance of his country rather than the
acceptance of his wife, thus further making this scene seem even more

Euripides Electra s Dilemma
As with much of classical literature, the Ancient Greek tragedy Electra by Euripides presents a
dilemma to the audience. In this play, the dilemma is exclusive to the audience; although it is
presented to the characters in the play, these characters do not hesitate with their plans. This age old
dilemma of kill or no kill is represented in Electra, giving the audience a choice to either sympathize
with the victim, Clytemnestra, or the main character, Electra. In Electra, Orestes and Electra, the
children of Clytemnestra, seek revenge on their mother. The two characters seek revenge because
Clytemnestra murdered her husband, their father, after he sacrificed his daughter Iphigenia.

He learns of Electra s need to avenge her father, and eventually he is revealed to be Orestes.
Together, Electra and Orestes create a plan to lure Clytemnestra into Electra s home and then
murder her. Just before Electra kills her mother, Clytemnestra, in an attempt to sway Electra away
from killing her, explains her reasons why she murdered Agamemnon: But he lured my daughter
with the hope of marriage to/ Achilles and went off taking her from home to Aulis where/ the fleet
was held and there he stretched her over the sacrificial/ altar and slashed the white throat of
Iphigenia (Euripides 109). It is at this point that the dilemma is presented to the audience of the
play. Clytemnestra s explanation presents a dilemma to the audience because the play does not
provide enough background information for the audience to decide whether Electra and Orestes
actions are morally correct. As Clytemnestra gives her explanation as to why she killed
Agamemnon, the audience has a choice of either believing her or chalking up her story to just be
an attempt at living. Blinded by her need for revenge, Electra is not swayed by her mother s story
and kills her. ...some believe you, for they do not/ know you as well as I do (Euripides

A Letter About A Smile From Aural Orifice, Curling And...
A smile from aural orifice to aural orifice, curling and bright. It s a strange thing to write a letter
that will probably never be read, or will be read by others. An openness in something generally
private, no less strange or cumbersome than writing a letter to someone you don t know but
think you might like to though. How best to form and shape those ideas, herd them into some
form of coherency and clarity? To start you already have a letter from me, with an iPod in it.
Black envelope, gold lettering, gave it to you at the PA Wizard World. This is take two of things
that won t get read :) whatevs! Carpe Noctem and all that. It s just obnoxiously frustrating to see
someone you d love to have a conversation with, and not even have the chance to risk it and fail

seeing how the conversational trains crash and sifting through the wreckage to find interesting
bits and bobs would be fun. But I m rotten through and through anyways, so that s no surprise.
Explaining why I want to converse with you might be hardest, besides saying I like the way you

Canadian Aviation History
Canada Takes Flight A balloon was the first means of manned flight in 1840 at Saint John, New
Brunswick. National and international politics, the national ambitions of Canada, technology, and
economics all played substantial factors in Canada s aviation industry from that time on. In 1909,
following the accomplishments of the Wright brothers, the test flights of Bell s Silver Dart put
aviation experiments in motion throughout Canada. The benefit of the use of military aircraft
during war times were a direct result of the development of Canada s experimental phase, and many
Canadians were members of the British Royal Flying Corps throughout World War 1.

Because of a lack of interest among Canadian politicians, there was not a substantial effort towards
the purchase of aircraft, construction of airfields or establishing funds for flight training. With only
three members, The Canadian Aviation Corps was created by Sir Sam Hughes in 1914. However,
they never flew a single combat mission and their only aircraft had been abandoned after only a
couple of months. Development of Technology The increase of technological advancement due to
the second world war took the Canadian industry into the vanguard of manufacturing aircraft. The
growth of commercial aviation combined with Canadian facilities and airspace provided the
training for over one hundred thousand Commonwealth airmen. During the second world war, the
British Commonwealth Air Training Program in Canada was responsible for training more than

Effects of Meditation on the Brain
Mindful Meditation and the Brain
Some view meditation as new age, hippie nonsense because it is not a social norm to sit in silence
and dig beneath the surface of the mind. Others liken it to tuning an instrument before playing it. I
subscribe to the latter; nonetheless, meditation is an ancient practice that can be traced back 2,500
years. However, neuroscientists are just now beginning to measure the effects that it has on the brain
. While there are many types of meditation, they all have the same function; reaching an internal
state of consciousness in which one is attending to a specific focal point. The content of this paper
will be predominantly about mindful meditation and how it positively affects the brain. The process

All meditators performed better than the control in their ability to detect stimuli indicating that both
groups developed a heightened attention as a result of their practice. Results also showed that
mindful meditators were significantly better at detecting unexpected stimuli, compared to the
concentration group (Valentine, 1999).
Another study was done during a three month silent retreat to see if mindful meditation can
increase the ability to identify both stimuli in rapid succession, essentially reducing the trend
known as attentional blink (Slagter, 2007) As cited by Slagter, attentional blink refers to an
inability to perceive a second target in rapid sequential visual presentation of stimuli, if a first target
was detected within a brief window of time, (500 milliseconds) preceding the second target
(Shapiro, 1997). Research indicated that meditators showed less of an attentional blink response
than non meditators after the three month retreat. Electroencephalography (EEG) signals revealed
that the individuals that performed the best on the attentional blink task also exhibited the least
amount of brain activity at the start of the first stimulus. This implies that those individuals were
able to allocate their attentional resources evenly which is in co ordinance with their hypothesis
that mindful meditation reduces attentional blink.

success means to me. To me success could be as simple as getting an A+ on an assignment. Now I
am going to be talking about success strategy s that I think are important, and that everyone could
benefit from. First I will talk about self motivation and the benefits it has. Second I will talk about
stressmanagement and what you can do to relieve stress. Third I will talk about self
responsibility and what it means. Lastly I will talk about communicating in the classroom. The
first success strategy that I find to be the most important is self motivation (Downing, 2004). It
took me a long time to understand, and gain the courage to have self motivation. Sometimes it s
really hard to have self motivation because of family, friends, and life in general. For example,
when I graduated high school, I moved to Presque Isle to go to school for nursing. Three weeks
into my first semester I got engaged, and moved back home. At that point I was a college dropout,
and didn t think I could go back to college. Why would anyone wanta student who went to class for
three weeks then dropped out? Two years later, a lot of hard work, and a lot of sleepless nights, I
graduated with a Medical Assisting degree, and now I m going back to school for Nursing.
To have self motivation, you need to believe

The Success Of Successful Aging
Like the very definition of success, successful aging means many different things to different
people. While the subject of successful and vital aging can be inspiring and empowering, it
undoubtedly requires flexibility and adaptation in response to changes in health and functioning
that are quite common as individuals inevitably age. Through formulated theories and suppositions
proposed throughout decades in gerontological studies, many agree upon consistencies that exist
across chronological aging. However, there are many more individual paths and much
heterogeneity among older adults. As a result, gerontologists in the years have incorporated issues
such as privileges or disadvantage across the lifespan to better attempt to address some of the
diversity among older adults to foster optimal or successful aging.
Satisfaction with one s past and present life for example, has been the most commonly proposed
definition of successful ageing. Nonetheless, it is also the most commonly investigated. While its
components include fortitude, morale, autonomy and independence, self efficacy and overall
wellbeing, the outcome of one s development over their lifespan is done so by utilizing past
experiences to cope with present circumstances. Therefore, it is also seen as a multidimensional,
particularized dynamic process.
While most behavioral actions for successful aging continue to promote health related behaviors
and engagement in prolific stimulating activities, the basis of

6.1.2.2Xing_Access (Crossing Accessibility) Cross Accessibility is a new piece of data being
collected. Crossings classified according to the road class (grid, highway, or urban) and the
crossing class (public, private, or GS). Generally speaking, public crossings are inspected
whereas private crossings are not; they are not under MHI jurisdiction. However, if a private
crossing is publicly used, it can be deemed appropriate to inspect. Moreover, where there is
public right of way crossing a rail right of way, even if there is no developed roadway, it is
technically a public crossing. However, these undeveloped crossings are not inspected, as there
is no road. However, RPP wished to retain these data points. A crossing accessibility attribute s
purpose is to further distinguish public and private crossings so an inspector can know prior to
visiting the site whether the grade crossing should be inspected or not. A crossing s accessibility
can be considered normal, publicly used (PU), or undeveloped (UD). GS, normal private, and
UD public crossings are not inspected. Normal public and PU private crossings are inspected. PU
public and UD private crossings are not possible combinations. In the application, these
accessibility options will be unable to be selected once a crossing classification is chosen. For

Video Games Have Come A Long Way
Video games have come a long way since Pac Man hit arcades in 1980. In the last thirty plus
years, we have seen video games revolutionize art and entertainment. At first riding the coattails
of computer advancements, video games now drive technological progress in the search for
innovation and complete player immersion. Video games have started to go beyond the quest for
the best graphics. Games like Pokemon Go are pushing the bar and blurring the line between the
game and real life through augmented reality. Video games now give many people motivation in
life and allow for more human interaction in both the real and virtual world. In many ways, video
games are the human attempt to succeed where evolution has failed us. Evolution has equipped
humans with the ability to survive, but survival means something completely different nowadays.
We no longer need to hunt with our hands, hide away from predators, or scavenge for food. Our
landscape has changed from the wilds to the shopping mall. When the modern human faces the
situation of how do I speak to someone I find attractive? or delivery, dine in, or take out? As silly
as it may sound, these simple, specific examples are the type of problems that have replaced
predators and famine what mechanisms have humans gained from evolution to face these
problems? This is where technology and the future of video games come into play. To face the
modern world, humans will redefine what it means to be entertained, interact with

China s Economic Reforms Increase The Economic Output
China s 1970 economic reforms boosted the economic output by 11.4% on a yearly basis. The
reforms gave authority to the provinces and enabled the market oriented public enterprises. The
economic gains were so great that they accounted for about 33% of the national GDP. Prosperity
seemed imminent since the 1970s, but little did the people know that they were on the path that
would place them as the world s most polluted countries and the worlds largest greenhouse gas
emitter.
China is experiencing an alarming decrease in air quality. In the first 3 months of 2015, about
90% of the cities in China failed to meet the national air quality requirement. Beijing, surrounded
by the heavily industrialized province of Hebei, is one of the most polluted cities in China and
is followed by the cities Baoding, Xingtai, Shijiazhuang, Tangshan, Handan and Hengshui. The
smog in Beijing has forced schools to build domes with air filters over recreational sections so
that students can play sports without having to inhale the dangerous components in the smog.
The recommended safe air quality index level is 25, but that index is rarely met given that
levels over 250 are reached in Beijing; young children are not allowed to play outdoors at levels
above 200, and older children are to remain indoors when the levels reach above 250. People are
getting in the habit of wearing air filter masks to decrease their exposure to polluted air, but
pollution is now threatening water quality no mask can fix

Examples Of Marie Curie
Contributions Approach
Example 1
During science class while studying elements a teacher introduces Marie Curie and her
contributions to the science community by sharing articles and book excerpts about what she
accomplished in her lifetime. Students will learn she was a chemist and physicist and that she
discovered polonium and radium. They also will learn of her contributions to the installation of X
ray machines and the purposes they served in World War I. This is important because in our
society today, science is a male dominated field. However, by using Marie Curieas an example,
young girls may realize it is possible to be successful in science and make significant contributions.

Pilgrims and Indians celebrated the first Thanksgiving together. It shares with students that the
Indians, led by Samoset and Squanto, helped the Pilgrims survive by planting corn and helping
them build houses. Students draw pictures on big sheets of paper, re writing in their own words the
story of the first Thanksgiving. This book introduces students to the concept that Indians were an
instrumental part of the Pilgrims survival, and had they not helped, the Pilgrims may not have
survived. This story offers students a different concept of Thanksgiving then ones they have
previously heard.
Transformation Approach
Example 1
As students are studying and learning about the Battle of the Alamo in Texas history, they will
read traditional textbooks, as well as different materials from the Mexican soldiers point of view.
By reading diaries and eyewitness accounts the students gain insight into both sides of the story and
are able to establish a more complete understanding of the issues and events of that time and how it
relates to Texas history. This is important because the students are challenged to think beyond the
knowledge they have grown accustomed to hearing and are exposed to new ideas and concepts.

Deception, corruption of the seemingly incorruptible, treachery and murder are common place
with dialogue usually being as abrasive to morality through its mode of address as the visual and
thematic conflict on screen. Meaning is created technically and characterised through a unique
style of night shooting, dark shadows, sharp lighting contrasts, askew camera angles, symbolic
environments and incoherent heavy flashbacked narratives. Iconography is a key part of this
genre as it and its reoccurring and recognisable symbols such as the detective who operates on the
edge of the law (again a metaphoric blurring of the philosophical concept of good and evil) and
sometimes even actors associated with the genre itself, carry meaning from film to film. The
narrational format of this genre tends to, through the techniques of voice over, subjective camera
angles and similar subjectiveness of actual storytelling convey an almost documentary style realism.
This realism gives the spectator a privileged if not deceiving access into the fictional mind of the
narrator. In the words of Robert Porfirio It is almost if the narrator takes a perverse pleasure in

means high or inordinate opinion of one s own dignity, importance, merit, or superiority and
ambush means an act or instance of lying concealed so as to attack by surprise. Despite these two
groups of animals being very similar, they have different animalgrouping names with very different

these animals were perceived as prideful in the way that they hunt. An animal that have hooves and

The Christian faith is a well documented and common religion of the Western civilization.
However, because Christianity is so fluid and complex, it easier for Christians to be incorrectly
interpreting aspects of the bible. In the book Why Christian? by Douglas John Hall, and She Who Is
by Elizabeth Johnson, both examine some of the critical misunderstandings proving problematic
within the Christian faith, but in different lenses . The book Why Christian? addresses the
Christian youth who are in doubt of their faith because of inconsistencies engraved in rules set by
the higher officials of the Christian community. While She Who Is examines the Christian
perspective from the underrepresented woman s perspective. Both challenge the traditional
Christian view, sparking controversy and conversation, but expanding on the normal beliefs that the
majority of Christian settle with. Both their perspectives represent misinterpreted forms that can be
organized and interpreted through the Wesleyan Quadrilateral. In the context of scripture, Johnson
states that the Bible is hegemonically masculine. Johnson emphasizes the majority of Christian
Bible names and images used for Godare masculine and patriarchal. For example, the bible

Anne Hutchinson And The Persecution Of The Puritans
From 1629 to 1640, approximately 200,000 Puritans escaping King Charles I s persecution of them
in connection to the Anglican Church fled England in what was referred to as the Great Migration.
Around 21,000 of these religious refugees sailed to the northeastern coast of North America and
established the MassachusettsBay Colony. Through ruthless cultural preservation, not only did
Massachusetts grow into the most prosperous colony of English America, but the sentiments of its
formation were also echoed by the establishment of other two most successful colonies, both of
which were founded by persecuted religious groups; Pennsylvania by the Quakers and Virginia by
Royalist Anglicans. Due to their previous experiences, the settlers of Massachusetts built a culture
that centered around the preservation and growth of their own religious practices, through the
notions of order and unity. Ironically, the means they used in order to carry out said order were
often violent and through the persecution of those who were not Puritan, similar to the way the
Anglicans treated them. One of the most notable examples of this institutional violence was that of
Anne Hutchinson. Hutchinson was a preacher who challenged the fundamental concept of
predestination, which was the principle that God had already selected those who were going to
heaven and those who were going to hell. While many Puritans considered predestination to mean
that they had to live a pious life in the event that

Consequences to Authoritarian Parenting
The complex exchange between parents and adolescence offers the prospect to influence the child
regularly. Parenting styles figures in as a prime part of a child s mental health and behaviour.
Parenting refers to the parent s actions and reactions to their child, including expectations, beliefs
and values. Diana Baumrind (1971, 1991), psychologist, based parenting on two aspects including
control and warmth. Baumrind used the combination of these aspects in different ways to identify
the four styles of parenting used today, consisted of, authoritative, authoritarian, permissive, and
uninvolved parenting. Authoritarian parenting, the strictest parenting style, is the method in which
parents display little warmth and are highly controlling.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This includes, the schools children attend, the foods consumed, and the environment the child
grows up in (Borkowski, 2000). Particularly, parenting styles have dissimilar effects towards a
child with different temperaments (Maccoby, 1983). A parent following an authoritarian
parenting style will have a very different atmosphere in the household from parents following a
permissive style. With the environment, children grow to follow different, predicted behaviour.
As it is proven that parenting is a major influence on children, authoritarian parenting does have
an effect on child rearing and shapes the mental health and behaviour of the child. The children
of authoritarian parents portray similar consistent negative behaviours and mental health
patterns. This parenting style has been found to relate to disruptive behaviors and relational
aggression (Bierman Smoot, 1991; Casas ed al., 2006; Hart et al., 1998; Dekovic Janssens,
1992; Kopko, 2007; Dewar, 2010 2013). The adolescence feel rejected and grow to show

other people. Some teens become rebellious because they do not like living so rigidly and want to
disobey their parents (Kopko, 2007). According to many studies done, children raised by
authoritarian parents feel reluctant to confess wrongdoings to authority figures, even if the

Satire In Animal Farm
Compare how George Orwell and the Cartoonist (image below) utilise satire to communicate
social issues and ideas. Both Animal Farm by George Orwell and the Cartoon utilize satire to
communicate social issues and ideas extremely effectively. This is demonstrated by how they
represent the rise and balance of power in society. The effect is achieved by the use of symbolism
to represent different societal issues that occur in different historical settings. They both also used
satireto demonstrate language and visual techniques to portray key issues in society. Firstly, Animal
Farm and the Cartoon demonstrate the rise and balance of power in society through the use of
symbolism. To utilize satire effectively George Orwellused symbolism in Animal Farm to shows
how power can change people. This is shown by the quote He carried a whip in his trotter. The
whip is the symbol of power as the whip in the beginning of the novel is shown as Jones s control
over the animals. Later in the novel when Napoleon is using the whip again, it demonstrates to the
audience how the power that he had at Animal Farm eventually changed him. The symbolism of
the whip demonstrated how he began to abuse the power he had acquired to control the other
animals. This abuse of power is a societal issue that can relate to many different historical
settings, which is why Animal Farm is so relevant to this era. George Orwell also used the
symbolism of animals to give a clear and accurate representation of the balance of power in
society without directly talking about a real life historical events which is a clear example of
satire. The method that George Orwell used to represent his ideas were also shown in the Cartoon.
The Cartoonist used symbolism of the microphone, podium and suit to demonstrate the politician
who is supposed to be leading his people just like how Napoleon was leading the animals. The
Cartoonist also used the symbolism of the people holding the government up to demonstrate how
there is a balance of power. If the people were not standing on the plank than the government would
fall. This demonstrates that the government only has power over the people because the people
allow them to which is a social issue that

Piaget s Theory, And Developmental Theories Of Early...
There are four types of developmental theories that early childhood educators study:
sociocultural, biological, behaviorist, and cognitive development. Each of the four theories has
shaped the way early childhood education has been designed in recent years. The main reason to
study these theories is to discover how children typically develop and what early childhood
educators can do to help facilitate their growth Teachers who are knowledgeable about child
development and learning are able to make broad predictions about what children of a particular
age group typically will be like, what they typically will and will not be capable of, and what
strategies and approaches will most likely promote their optimal learning and development.
(NAEYC, 2009, p.9). A cognitive development approach to learning states that children are actively
involved in the learning process. To them, learning comes naturally and they don t need much
external motivation or a system of punishments and rewards driving them to master subject areas.
One important aspect of Piaget s theory of cognitive development is how children learn to process
the information they receive. Assimilation, accommodation, and equilibrium are steps in the
learning process. A child is introduced to new information, relates it something familiar, and
decides to change their existing viewpoint based on this new information. A child builds their
expertise based on schemas, or prior knowledge, at each stage of the learning

The Pros And Cons Of Pterosaurs
Neither bats nor birds, pterosaurs were considered reptiles. And although scientists have long

top theory as of now among scientists is that pterosaurs, crocodiles, and dinosaurs are closely

as archosaurs. The Prehistoric Flying Reptiles Pterosaurs flourished during the age of dinosaurs,

Blood, boiling even after his death (Allen 60). This taking of the body as a prize is also evident in
The Iliadwhen Achilles takes Hector s body and ties it to his chariot and drags his dead body
through town. Lines 246 through 253 in The Iliad state, Indeed, he had in mind for Hector s
body outrage and shame. Behind both feet he pierced the tendons, heel to ankle. Rawhide cords
he drew through both and lashed them to his chariot, letting the man s head trail. Stepping
aboard, bearing the great trophy of the arms, he shook the reins, and whipped the team ahead
into a willing run ( The Iliad 86). The taking of the body of their enemies is one of the
similarities between these two war heroes and in these two stories. One of the major differences
in these two stories is the reason that the heroes are fighting in the first place. In Beowulf the hero
is fighting to help people and to have a great and grand legacy behind his name opposed to in The
Iliad the hero is fighting for revenge and is fighting through pure anger. Lines 109 through

Edgar Hoover Accomplishments
Have you ever heard someone discuss their opinion on whether people are born just plain evil, or
if they change over time? Chances are, you may have heard this famous quote by J. Edgar
Hoover, . . .children are not born criminals, nor pampered parasites. They are made that way by
the environment in which they live. [Source: AZ quotes] One person may state that Hoover was
a bad man, while others beg to differ, but he has done enough good to counteract the bad, such as
becoming the director of what we know now as the FBI, or the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
A good place to start is Hoover s bio. J. Edgar Hoover was born on January 1st, 1895 in
Washington D.C., to Dickerson N. Hoover and Annie Marie S. Hoover, who both worked for the
U.S. Government. When he was younger, he fixed his stuttering problem by learning to talk fast,
which would benefit him in the long run. He became the director of the Federal Bureau of
Investigation, or the FBI, later on. However, Hoover had extreme anti Communist and anti
subversive views, and he d often use unconventional tactics to monitor activity. J. Edgar Hoover s
death was rumoured to mark the end of an era, since his death coincided with the uproar created by
the Watergate affair. Another thing to discuss is what he did in the FBI. During, and even after
WWII, the FBI became known for working against the Nazi and Communist espionage. Eventually,
Hoover s power moved the Congress in 1968 to enact legislation requiring the senate to confirm
future FBI directors. The Congress also limited the future FBI directors tenure to ten years. After
King s assassination, the FBI, under Hoover s directions, launched a successful... Show more

African American Teachers
An American psychiatrist by the name of William Glasser once stated, When you study great
teachers...you will learn much more from their caring and hard work than from their style. Teachers
are a huge part of an individual s life. From the time a person enters into preschool until the
complete cessation of their educational career, the teachers and professors along the way each
influence that student s perspective and feeling towards the particular subject they taught. With
daily interactions, teachers become a part of a student s microsystem. They are often times the only
other constant adult figure in their student s life apart from the caregiver. Whether it is
acknowledged or not, the importance of teacher cannot be overstated. Unfortunately,... Show more

There will be one semi instructed interview a week asking about specific situation in the
classroom. During the interviews snacks and drinks will be provided for the students to enable
them to feel more comfortable in the coming days. The purpose of this study is to see if there is
a significant impact of African American teachers on female African American students
academic achievement. The participants test scores will be recorded on a laptop. The notes
from the interviews and observations in the classroom will be kept in separate notebooks. At the
beginning of the research, the teachers will be asked how their teaching style differs from the
normative teaching module. Also the participants will be given notebooks to record their own
feelings about school and life in. Every two months the material will be collected and recorded
in a laptop. Every four months the 11 15 year old participants will be given a 15 dollar gift card to
the mall as an incentive to keep them interested and active in the study. After each recording, there
will be member checking and the and all three researchers will combine notes to ensure what is
being recorded is actually purposeful to the intended

Sigmund Freud s An Outline Of Psychoanalysis
Theory The first pioneer, on the psychoanalyst front that acknowledged the significance of
unconscious cerebral functioning, was Sigmund Freud. He invented the term psychoanalysis in
1896, and continuously developed the primary basics, aims, approaches and the methods relating
to his study of psychoanalysis , which he spent forty years of his life on after introducing the term
in 1896. Freud s work relates to several different topics within his field, to name a few Freud has
dealt with, as well as, published work on dream interpretation, the technique of psychoanalysis, as
well as the structural theory of the mind (Beystehner). In 1925 Freud s notions of psychoanalysis as
a successful development, became recognized... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Freud starts by clarifying the personality model he developed, which consists of the id, the ego,
and the superego (Beystehner). According to Freud, the id is the most unsophisticated and
primitive part of our entity (Storey), additionally, the unconscious part of the id is due to the
brain s ability to suppress instincts that people are born with, as well as things that are retained
from birth. The ego is the conscious part of the mind, as opposed to the id, which is the part of
the mind that is in charge of restraining pressures and the instincts within it. The ego is in charge
of controlling impulses, and it also to functions as a connection between the id and the outside
population (Beystehner). The ego is developed out of the id, and symbolizes sensibleness and
soundness of mind as opposed to the passions of the id (Storey). Lastly, the superego is in charge
of managing orders from the id, as well as, managing the restraints of pleasure and fulfillment
achieved. The superego also depicts the impact and sway people in authoritative positions, such as
parents, teachers, and role models, as well as the impact of racial, societal, and cultural traditions

Jane Eyre Settings
Mysterious, complex, and utterly captivating, Charlotte Bronte s Jane Eyre constantly leaves the
reader with more questions than answers. The book consists of constant plot twists, all of which
eventually make sense in the end. Perhaps what is most fascinating about Jane Eyre is the setting
behind it. Throughout the novel, Jane Eyretravels to many places over multiple years. Through
analysis it is clear that these different settings relate to each period and development in her life.
Commonly contrasting and seemingly insignificant, the details behind locations such as Thornfield
and Ferndean allow Bronte to develop Jane as a character as well as create a deeper meaning
behind her work. Thornfield and Ferndean are contrasting in both their literal and metaphorical
meanings. When the compound words of each title are broken apart, additional insight can be
found. The Thorn in Thornfield gives off a negative vibe as not many enjoy encountering thorns.
Despite this, when Jane first arrives at Thornfield, she is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thornfield is a grand mansion when compared to the countryside manor of Ferndean. However,
its is Ferndean which feels more homely. This is due to Thornfield s cold manor setting, the
appearance of the building itself being uninviting. Ferndean is a merry and carefree atmosphere
when compared to Thornfield. Jane describes her time at Ferndean in the following, Most of the
morning was spent in the open air. I led him out of the wet and wild wood into some cheerful
fields: I described to him how brilliantly green they were; how the flowers and the hedges looked
refreshed; how sparklingly blue was the sky (478). The images presented are light and insouciant.
Bronte also writes this time at Ferndean as in the spring, a common symbol for rebirth. Despite its
ornateness, Thornfield is an atmosphere of depression, clearly a dark time for

The goal of the pigoon project was to grow foolproof human tissue organs in a transgenic knockout pig (Atwood 22). This was an issue that may have caused Jimmy s mother to be neglectful towards her son was her depression. Depression is a mental illness that affected her everyday life. She was so exhausted with the fights with her husband and the depression on top of that. This caused her to be uninterested in her son and it is also what caused her to run away with Jimmy s pet. This shows that mental illness isn t always caused by something, but rather someone is born with it. People with depression always have it, but it can be triggered to where it affects their everyday lives. Jimmy s mother s depression may have been triggered by stress about her husband s job and constant arguing with her husband. My Passion For Palliative And Hospice Care Social Work When it came to envisioning my advanced block placement, I knew I wanted something different, something to transform the way I practiced social work for the last fourteen years. The timing ideal as my passion for palliative and hospice care social work was in transition. I seized the opportunity in preserving it by securing an international internship where I could research the cultural differences in the quality of both the tangible and intangible deliverables in providing compassionate end of life care. The destination, Nepal! Knowing I was traveling to an underdeveloped nation, I did my homework, or did I? I partnered with an ancillary community college who I thought focused on expanding the development of social work as a discipline in Nepal and were teaching BSW students to become nearly the first truly educated social work practitioners in the country, which excited me. Disappointingly, the system lacked structure and organization. My trip started off tumultuously, as did my relationship with my host, consequentially who lacked hospitality among other qualities, leaving me to discover the copious cultural dichotomies and challenges around every corner, alone, daunted by the lack of local support. • 8. Immune Thrombocytopenic Purpura Research Paper Immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) is a rare disease that people would never know existed unless affected by it. The disease is characterized by individuals having extremely low platelets levels. Platelets are created from megakaryocytes that are located within the bone marrow. The megakaryocytes break off pieces small enough to leave the bone marrow and join the other blood cells circulating in the body. Platelets are responsible for clotting the blood when an injury occurs. They do this by agglutinating, or sticking to themselves at the site of the injury. Platelets are responsible for activating other clotting factors found in the blood. If someone does not have adequate platelets, such as individuals affected byITP, they may not be able to clot their blood. For a simple scratch it is not too worrisome, but if the individual falls or hits their head they can experience internal bleeding that can be fatal if not treated. Two symptoms are hallmarks for ITP. They include petichiae, micro hemorrhaging of vessels that typically occurs on the lower extremities and purpura, excessive bruising of the skin from minor bumps and cuts. The cycle acts as a net entrapping Agamemnon, Clytemnestra, Orestes, and many other characters and producing actions throughout the play that provoke the audience to contemplate right versus wrong, self help justice (in the form of revenge) versus justice by trial, and honor versus dignity. Although the events taking place throughout the play are outlandish, the audience can still look at the character s actions and thoughts and see that they are genuinely understandable human encounters. While Clytemnestra turned on Agamemnon in order to avenge her daughter s death an action that most people can understand the chorus decides to turn on Clytemnestra due to her outrageous crime. The chorus concern does not lie within loyalty to the family though, it lies within the loyalty of seeking justice for wrong doings. The chorus states that, The plunderer plundered, the killer pays the price, (L 1590) leading the audience to believe that the chorus views Agamemnon s death as justifiable considering that Clytemnestra is only murdering the murderer. Instead, the chorus believes that Agamemnon s death is a huge loss to the community due to his status as a war hero. Therefore, the chorus views the sacrifice of Iphigenia as a necessary price to pay in order to do the greater good, which in this case was fighting the war. The valor that emerges from a successful war is something to be proud of, especially in the context of the play, which is why the audience could also rationalize the chorus point of view one death in order to continue on in a war that could save thousands of people from dying is quite miniscule. By continuing the war efforts, countrymen began to accept Agamemnon acceptance being an integral part of human nature. In this case, the audience can understand wanting to have the acceptance of his country rather than the acceptance of his wife, thus further making this scene seem even more ... However, neuroscientists are just now beginning to measure the effects that it has on the brain . Another study was done during a three month silent retreat to see if mindful meditation can increase the ability to identify both stimuli in rapid succession, essentially reducing the trend known as attentional blink (Slagter, 2007) As cited by Slagter, attentional blink refers to an inability to perceive a second target in rapid sequential visual presentation of stimuli, if a first target was detected within a brief window of time, (500 milliseconds) preceding the second target (Shapiro, 1997). Research indicated that meditators showed less of an attentional blink response than non meditators after the three month retreat. Electroencephalography (EEG) signals revealed that the individuals that performed the best on the attentional blink task also exhibited the least amount of brain activity at the start of the first stimulus. This implies that those individuals were able to allocate their attentional resources evenly which is in co ordinance with their hypothesis that mindful meditation reduces attentional blink. ... To me success could be as simple as getting an A+ on an assignment. Now I am going to be talking about success strategy s that I think are important, and that everyone could benefit from. First I will talk about self motivation and the benefits it has. Second I will talk about stressmanagement and what you can do to relieve stress. Third I will talk about self responsibility and what it means. Lastly I will talk about communicating in the classroom. The first success strategy that I find to be the most important is self motivation (Downing, 2004). It took me a long time to understand, and gain the courage to have self motivation. Sometimes it s really hard to have self motivation because of family, friends, and life in general. For example, when I graduated high school, I moved to Presque Isle to go to school for nursing. Why would anyone wanta student who went to class for three weeks then dropped out? In the last thirty plus years, we have seen video games revolutionize art and entertainment. At first riding the coattails of computer advancements, video games now drive technological progress in the search for innovation and complete player immersion. Video games have started to go beyond the quest for the best graphics. Games like Pokemon Go are pushing the bar and blurring the line between the game and real life through augmented reality. Video games now give many people motivation in life and allow for more human interaction in both the real and virtual world. In many ways, video games are the human attempt to succeed where evolution has failed us. Evolution has equipped humans with the ability to survive, but survival means something completely different nowadays. We no longer need to hunt with our hands, hide away from predators, or scavenge for food. Our landscape has changed from the wilds to the shopping mall. When the modern human faces the situation of how do I speak to someone I find attractive? or delivery, dine in, or take out? As silly as it may sound, these simple, specific examples are the type of problems that have replaced predators and famine what mechanisms have humans gained from evolution to face these problems? This is where technology and the future of video games come into play. To face the modern world, humans will redefine what it means to be entertained, interact with ... • 26. China s Economic Reforms Increase The Economic Output China s 1970 economic reforms boosted the economic output by 11.4% on a yearly basis. The reforms gave authority to the provinces and enabled the market oriented public enterprises. The economic gains were so great that they accounted for about 33% of the national GDP. Prosperity seemed imminent since the 1970s, but little did the people know that they were on the path that would place them as the world s most polluted countries and the worlds largest greenhouse gas emitter. China is experiencing an alarming decrease in air quality. In the first 3 months of 2015, about 90% of the cities in China failed to meet the national air quality requirement. Beijing, surrounded by the heavily industrialized province of Hebei, is one of the most polluted cities in China and is followed by the cities Baoding, Xingtai, Shijiazhuang, Tangshan, Handan and Hengshui. The smog in Beijing has forced schools to build domes with air filters over recreational sections so that students can play sports without having to inhale the dangerous components in the smog. The recommended safe air quality index level is 25, but that index is rarely met given that levels over 250 are reached in Beijing; young children are not allowed to play outdoors at levels above 200, and older children are to remain indoors when the levels reach above 250. Anne Hutchinson And The Persecution Of The Puritans From 1629 to 1640, approximately 200,000 Puritans escaping King Charles I s persecution of them in connection to the Anglican Church fled England in what was referred to as the Great Migration. Around 21,000 of these religious refugees sailed to the northeastern coast of North America and established the MassachusettsBay Colony. Through ruthless cultural preservation, not only did Massachusetts grow into the most prosperous colony of English America, but the sentiments of its formation were also echoed by the establishment of other two most successful colonies, both of which were founded by persecuted religious groups; Pennsylvania by the Quakers and Virginia by Royalist Anglicans. Due to their previous experiences, the settlers of Massachusetts built a culture that centered around the preservation and growth of their own religious practices, through the notions of order and unity. Ironically, the means they used in order to carry out said order were often violent and through the persecution of those who were not Puritan, similar to the way the Anglicans treated them. One of the most notable examples of this institutional violence was that of Anne Hutchinson. Hutchinson was a preacher who challenged the fundamental concept of predestination, which was the principle that God had already selected those who were going to heaven and those who were going to hell. • 38. Satire In Animal Farm Compare how George Orwell and the Cartoonist (image below) utilise satire to communicate social issues and ideas. Both Animal Farm by George Orwell and the Cartoon utilize satire to communicate social issues and ideas extremely effectively. This is demonstrated by how they represent the rise and balance of power in society. The effect is achieved by the use of symbolism to represent different societal issues that occur in different historical settings. They both also used satireto demonstrate language and visual techniques to portray key issues in society. Firstly, Animal Farm and the Cartoon demonstrate the rise and balance of power in society through the use of symbolism. To utilize satire effectively George Orwellused symbolism in Animal Farm to shows how power can change people. This is shown by the quote He carried a whip in his trotter. The whip is the symbol of power as the whip in the beginning of the novel is shown as Jones s control over the animals. Later in the novel when Napoleon is using the whip again, it demonstrates to the audience how the power that he had at Animal Farm eventually changed him. The symbolism of the whip demonstrated how he began to abuse the power he had acquired to control the other animals. This abuse of power is a societal issue that can relate to many different historical settings, which is why Animal Farm is so relevant to this era. George Orwell also used the symbolism of animals to give a clear and accurate representation of the balance of power in society without directly talking about a real life historical events which is a clear example of satire. The method that George Orwell used to represent his ideas were also shown in the Cartoon. The Cartoonist used symbolism of the microphone, podium and suit to demonstrate the politician who is supposed to be leading his people just like how Napoleon was leading the animals. The Cartoonist also used the symbolism of the people holding the government up to demonstrate how there is a balance of power. If the people were not standing on the plank than the government would fall. This demonstrates that the government only has power over the people because the people allow them to which is a social issue that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Piaget s Theory, And Developmental Theories Of Early... There are four types of developmental theories that early childhood educators study: sociocultural, biological, behaviorist, and cognitive development. Each of the four theories has shaped the way early childhood education has been designed in recent years. The main reason to study these theories is to discover how children typically develop and what early childhood educators can do to help facilitate their growth Teachers who are knowledgeable about child development and learning are able to make broad predictions about what children of a particular age group typically will be like, what they typically will and will not be capable of, and what strategies and approaches will most likely promote their optimal learning and development. (NAEYC, 2009, p.9). A cognitive development approach to learning states that children are actively involved in the learning process. To them, learning comes naturally and they don t need much external motivation or a system of punishments and rewards driving them to master subject areas. One important aspect of Piaget s theory of cognitive development is how children learn to process the information they receive. Assimilation, accommodation, and equilibrium are steps in the learning process. A child is introduced to new information, relates it something familiar, and decides to change their existing viewpoint based on this new information. • 41. Compare And Contrast Beowulf And The Iliad Beowulf and The Iliad have plenty of differences but also have plenty of similarities within their stories, structure, and writing styles. For instance they are both poems but The Iliad is an ancient poem while Beowulf is an epic poem. They are both poems but they are two different types of poems, this is just one of the many similarities and differences in these two stories. One of the similarities within this story is that both heros from the stories take a prize from their enemies when they win their battles. Beowulfand Achillesboth take body parts from their enemies and in Achilles case the whole body of his enemy as their prizes. As lines 357 and 358 in Beowulf state, From the rafters where Beowulf had hung it, was the monster s Arm, claw and shoulder and all (Allen 53). Beowulf also takes the head of his enemy later in the book when he kills his enemies mother. This point is shown also later in the story, lines 568 through 573 says, The monsters hall was full of Rich treasures, but all that Beowulf took Was Grendel s head and the hilt of the giants Jeweled sword; the rest of that ring marked Blade had dissolved in Grendel s steaming Blood, boiling even after his death (Allen 60). This taking of the body as a prize is also evident in The Iliadwhen Achilles takes Hector s body and ties it to his chariot and drags his dead body through town. Lines 246 through 253 in The Iliad state, Indeed, he had in mind for Hector s body outrage and shame. Behind both feet he pierced the tendons, heel to ankle. Rawhide cords he drew through both and lashed them to his chariot, letting the man s head trail. Stepping aboard, bearing the great trophy of the arms, he shook the reins, and whipped the team ahead into a willing run ( The Iliad 86). The taking of the body of their enemies is one of the similarities between these two war heroes and in these two stories. One of the major differences in these two stories is the reason that the heroes are fighting in the first place. Chances are, you may have heard this famous quote by J. Edgar Hoover, . . .children are not born criminals, nor pampered parasites. They are made that way by the environment in which they live. [Source: AZ quotes] One person may state that Hoover was a bad man, while others beg to differ, but he has done enough good to counteract the bad, such as becoming the director of what we know now as the FBI, or the Federal Bureau of Investigation. A good place to start is Hoover s bio. J. Edgar Hoover was born on January 1st, 1895 in Washington D.C., to Dickerson N. Hoover and Annie Marie S. Hoover, who both worked for the U.S. Government. When he was younger, he fixed his stuttering problem by learning to talk fast, which would benefit him in the long run. He became the director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, or the FBI, later on. However, Hoover had extreme anti Communist and anti subversive views, and he d often use unconventional tactics to monitor activity. J. Edgar Hoover s death was rumoured to mark the end of an era, since his death coincided with the uproar created by the Watergate affair. Another thing to discuss is what he did in the FBI. During, and even after WWII, the FBI became known for working against the Nazi and Communist espionage. Eventually, Hoover s power moved the Congress in 1968 to enact legislation requiring the senate to confirm future FBI directors. The Congress also limited the future FBI directors tenure to ten years. After King s assassination, the FBI, under Hoover s directions, launched a successful...
