Motte And Bailey Castles In Europe During The Middle Ages
Motte and bailey castles have been built all over Europe during the Middle Ages, especially in
England, Wales, and Scotland. They were extremely popular for almost 200 years, and motte
castles continued to be built until the 13th century. They were very innovative during the
Medieval time period. Motte and bailey castles were hard work to construct and eventually
evolved into impressive, more advanced fortresses. The original motte and bailey castles were
incredibly cheap to construct. They were built from just earth and wood and didn t require any
special design. A wooden keepcalled a motte sat on an elevated bank of soil and overlooked the
bailey, an enclosed courtyard. Although some cases consisted of the motte sitting upon a hill,
most of the time mottes were on a man made piece of earthwork. Men would pile up dirt and clay
and flatten out the top to create a stable surface for the motte. The keep was the building,
originally made of wood, that sat upon the motte. This is where the lord and his wife lived. It was
surrounded by a protective wall,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Concentric castles were made of stone and built primarily for protection and defense. The building
of these concentric designs began in the 1200s. The castles consisted of thick walls surrounding the
main castle, usually one large wall surrounding a smaller one. The walls were designed to create
obstacles for anyone trying to attack the castle. The hard, tall walls made it difficult for the
attacker to get at the castle and made it easier for the defenders to fire at them from above. Its
symmetrical shape also made it easier for lookout men to see across the surrounding countryside.
The concentric castles, as beneficial as they were, were also extremely expensive and time
consuming to build. As opposed to motte and bailey castles, which only took a few weeks to build,
concentric castles required years of

Paradoxical Trinity Analysis
The age of the robot warrior machine is looming, and it represents monumental changes in the
future conduct of war. Increased precision and decreased risk make the automation of warriors both
politically and militarily attractive. In the future, government and military leaders will have to
address the numerous moral and ethical questions concerning when, where and how to utilize these
lifeless soldiers. In the past, many leaders relied on the military theory from the Prussian theorist
Carl Von Clausewitzbook On Warto answer similar questions. Even though his theories have
formerly provided guidance, can the ideas written in the 1800 s, truly be useful when applied to
such drastic changes in the future conduct of war.

Measuring, comparing, or correlating the ever changing interaction between them is impossible.
The only constant is that all three are always in existence, pulling and pushing for an assemblance
of equilibrium. Any attempt to ignore one of them or limit another would render them useless . The
trinity and the absolute existence of the three elements represent the unique unchanging nature of
war. The enduring nature and profoundness suggests that the Holy Trinity (Father, Son, Holy Spirit)
may have influenced Clausewitz, which is undoubtedly also a bias of this author. Many scholars
have argued over its interpretation, especially with regard to the secondary trinity referenced by
Clausewitz as the people, the commander with his army, and the government . One notion that is
agreeable to this author is that the secondary trinity of the people, army, and government was
Clausewitz attempt at the application of the theory. The application in this way also discards the
argument that the term war can only apply a state. Because of this, the elements of his paradoxical
trinity can be applied not only to state actors, but to non state, warlords, gangs, fanatical groups or
even individuals. The only requirement is humans. Other Students of Clausewitz have developed
their own simplified interpretations of the

April 22 Passages Analysis
One reason these passages are different is because in the poem it basically states that paul was
just riding through each town without nothing happening to him. But in the letter he s beaten up
by some british officers and had a tough time. Another reason these passages are different is
because in the poem paul stays on his horse the whole time. In the letter he frequently leaves his
horse but is mostly on it. Both of these passages had great stories on that night, and gave great
detail.another difference is that the timelines are not the same. In the poem it s in april 18, 1775,
but in letter it has two timelines, one in 1774 and the same one in April 18, 1775. I have quotes
from each passage to support my claim. A quote from the poem is

Lessexuality And Homosexuality
In today s society sexuality has an undertone of heterosexuality from books, television shows,
movies, and all forms of mass media. To be other than heterosexual is be different but however
conforming to the idea of being different as homosexual is still be affirmed to the standard that
heterosexuality is normal. This idea of the creation story from Aristophanes speech during the
Symposium, I interpret that both homosexualityand heterosexualityis the norm instead of one
without the one. According to the myth two halves are craving the other not just man and women
craving each other. However in modern times we have developed a patrichal society that has forced
heterosexuality as a suppression of women, as the manifestation of male power... Show more

Secondly, personally in my experience music is one of the biggest influences on sexuality. I
have older parents that listen to older music like love songs or rap that focus on heterosexual
relationships, because sex sells. When I say this I mean that if the media has 99% of the time
portrayed heterosexuality as the norm and it coincides with family standards that was placed in
my life I would not know anything else. In an old school catholic black family heterosexuality
was the only option. I mention these details because Adrienne Rich mentions in some books that
she has read concerning this issue, never addressed innate orientation directly, only hinting or
subliminally addressing the idea of preference . The example she uses makes me think enough
to be able to know the way my parents addressed homosexuality as comedial or religiously a sin
like most people who seek understanding beyond their family it did not make sense, however the
catholic church is mostly ran by male figures instances like this furthers what Kathleen Gough
sees as me s ability to deny women sexuality or force it upon them. Music only currently became
inclusive on the mainstream because likemoy family this standards were held for so long, but still
we use music like this like religion to address what we do not understand. Music like Frank Ocean

Resistance in a Wire Coursework
Resistance in a Wire Coursework In this investigation we are trying to look for resistance in a
piece of wire, and how the length of a wire can increase or decrease the resistance. The things that
affect the resistance in a wire are: the length of the wire a certain amount of wire cross sectional
area of the wire (thickness) temperature material What things can affect the resistance in a wire?
The temperature can affect the resistance in a wire, because the more thermal energy a component
has the more the atoms within it will vibrate and get in the path of the free electrons, so the higher
the temperature, more resistance is being produced. Material can affect the resistance due to the
number of free ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The thickness of the wire decreases. Once you have figured out the thickness of the wire (length
x width), you will be able to calculate the ohms law. Prediction My prediction for this experiment
is, once the length of the wire increases, so will the resistance. What my results show me My
results show me that once the readings on the ammeter and the voltage increase, so will the
resistance, because of this we decided to increase the length of wire used by 10cm each time a
reading was recorded. Method 1.Set up the series circuit. 2.Connect the crocodile clip to 30cm
along the wire. 3.Switch on the power supply. 4.Record readings from the ammeter and voltmeter.
5.Switch off the power supply. 6.Repeat the stages of 2 6 three times at length 30cm intervals up to
1 metre. What I did and why I kept my experiment a fair test in the following ways: I did not change
any parts of the circuit (wires, ammeter, voltmeter or battery pack) in between the measurements
this would have prevented small discrepancies between circuit components from affecting the
results. When taking the measurements from the voltmeter and ammeter, I waited for the reading
to settle completely. If it didn t settle, then I would have made an estimate of the middle value being
shown. Waiting for the reading to settle prevented accidentally taking a reading while the value is
fluctuating randomly when the power is first turned

The Downfall of Neanderthals Essay
Many scientist have spent their lives trying to unravel the mystery that is the demise of the
neanderthals. Today, with their help, using a phylogenic tree, we know that they are closely related
to humans and slightly related to gorillas. With that information, we can further conclude that many
things impacted them including climate change, interbreeding, and humaninteraction. Using the
Journal Advances in Complex Systems research compiled on the end of Neanderthals came to light.
When Neanderthals and early humans land use patterns changed during the last ice age, computer
modeling showed that the two populations began to mingle and mate, leading to the extinction of

Further more, there are numerous humans walking around today with a percentage of Neanderthal
DNA, suggesting a mating between Humans and Neanderthals.
Ground breaking research done by Barton and Julien Riel Salvatore from the University of
Colorado Denver, in the journal, Advances in Complex Systems, hint that the Neanderthals demise
was due to a multitude of influences, mostly climate changes. Cultural and socio ecological
changes in behavior were researched using archaeological data in Western Eurasia during the past
120,000 years. When Neanderthals and early humans land use patterns changed during the last ice
age, computer modeling showed that the two populations began to mingle and mate, leading to the
extinction of one of the groups because of hybridization. Addressing the possibility that the two
groups would not have looked at one another as potential mates, the researchers examined the
possible effects of social barriers on mating in their models as well. They found that unless social
taboos were almost 100 percent effective, it would have not made a difference in generations over
time as the gene pools mixed.
Conclusion
Neanderthals are highly misunderstood. Their demise is questioned by many but in the end
researchers have come to an answer. After comparing mtDNA from a gorilla, a modern day human,
and an ancient

Should Deaf People Receive Cochlear Implants Or...
Should deaf people receive cochlear implants or communicate through sign language? The use of
cochlear implants has become a very controversial topic within the deaf community. My question
was inspired by the sources Why Is Dancing So Good for Your Brain and from Mapping the
Bilingual Brain . Both sources mentioned sign language, which made me think about the debate
over whether deaf people should receive a cochlear implantor communicate solely through sign
language. The first single channel cochlear implant was introduced in 1972 as an electrical device
that provides a sense of hearing to those that are profoundly deaf or severely hard of hearing
(Tallungan). Though the technology behind cochlear implants has improved, there is still a divide
throughout the United States as to whether deaf individuals should receive cochlear implants or
communicate solely through sign language. But, by December 2012, 58,000 adults and 38,000
children had received cochlear implant in the United States (Tallungan).
While there are many risks involved with cochlear implants, there could also be many benefits. The
question that remains is, Do the benefits of receiving a cochlear implant outweigh the risks?
Although many advances have been made scientifically to improve the effectiveness of cochlear
implants, it is also important to examine the opinions of the deaf society, how a deaf person s
communication skills may develop with or without a cochlear implant, and the economic factors

Threat of New Entrants: LOW
Like any automobile company, Harley Davidson industry also has large manufacturing facilities and
equipments. New Entrants would have to have a large amount of capital and would need to spend
tons of money in advertising and promotion to receive the same amount of brand recognition and
customer loyalty that the powerhouses company Harley Davidson has already gained. And retailers,
without the brand recognition and customer loyalty of the new entrants, would be afraid to carry
such products.
Threat of Substitutes: LOW
Motorcycles don t take much of one s income; customers often switch to the substitutes if price
increases and purchasing a cheaper substitute becomes their better choice. But, the facts that Harley
Davidson has a strong image of a lifestyle, the substitute products are no match to Harley Davidson

Theme Of Laughter In Brave New World
Ignorant New World Why do people laugh? Is it an effect from a witty joke, a nervous tic, or
perhaps a humorous accident? Whatever the reason is, laughter is a contagious and social
occurrence. In the book, Brave New World, there are many circumstances where laughter takes
place. However, the people in the book are laughing for a different reason. They are not necessarily
aware of what they are laughing about. It is not that they are replacing thinking with laughter,
instead, they do not have the ability to comprehend what they are laughing at. They allow laughter
to cover up the absence of understanding something. A lack of individuality paired with society s
teachings creates people who do not know what they are laughing at, nor why... Show more content

The restraints on which the society functions on causes a lack of exposure to specific topics and
ideas. For instance, the humans are made in labs and do not have families. This causes the
people of the society to not understand family bonds. They are aware of what families are but
cannot truly understand the concept. Families are taught to be viewed as smutty. They are
described as suffocating intimacies, what dangerous, insane, obscene relationships between the
member of the family group! (Aldous Huxley, 37). Additionally, the government also controls
what the people do and do not learn. This can be seen with the hypnopedia. But it goes even
deeper than that. There is an erasure of entire concepts. For instance, there is no such thing as
religion within Brave New World. The Controller explains to the Savage why there is no religion
by saying that, God isn t compatible with machinery and scientific medicine and universal
happiness. You must make your choice. Our civilization has chosen machinery and medicine and
happiness (Aldous Huxley, 234). He also states that in order to achieve stability, you ve got to
choose between happiness and what people used to call high art. We ve sacrificed the high art
(Aldous Huxley, 220). These sacrifices create huge gaps in knowledge. It damages potential

Summary Of Every Trip Is A Quest
1 3. The main idea of Chapter 1 Every Trip Is a Quest (Except When It s Not) (pp.1 6) can be
concluded in the following sentence: every story is a quest that consists of a person that has a
reason to go to a certain place with challenges on one s way which then leads the particular
person (usually the main hero of a story) to the actual, or real, reason associated with self
knowledge, because the quest is always educational. 4. The next key words were identified in
the chapter and serve as an informal outline of the chapter. At the beginning of the chapter,
Foster gives a brief example of a quest: a knight (Kip), a dragon road (German shepherds), Holy
Grail (wonder bread), one dragon ( 68 Cuda), evil knight (Tony) and a princess (the laughing
girl). In other words, each story has a quester, a place to go to, along with stated reason to go
there and unknown challenges and trials en route; however, at the end there is a real reason for the
whole trip self discovery (Foster 3). The stated reason is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are many similarities between Gottschall and Foster s ideas. At first, Foster talks about
The Crying of Lot 49 which he refers to as to one of the best examples of all quest tales; in The
Crying of Lot 49 the heroine meets scary and dangerous people, and involves herself into postal
conspiracies. This is why Foster calls it one of the greatest quest books it is entertaining,
mystifying and has a defined quest. Moreover, that is what Gottschall talks about in the first
chapter that humans are by nature story telling beings, and this is why we want to read, and
write stories in the most entertaining way (20). The second example can be compared to ideas
in Gottscchall s book in chapter 3. According to Gottscchall, if there is no knotty problem, there
is no story (49). That is exactly what Foster is claiming: every story has a quest which includes a
challenge and a task, a trip and a goal; whereas, Gottscchall refers to it as to a

Critical Analysis Of The Night In Question By Tobias...

The Dehumanizing and Immoral Alternatives to Utilitarianism
The Night in Question by Tobias Wolff and Should the Numbers Count by John Taurek are both
critical analyses that argue against the moral principles of utilitarianism. This theory is used to
make decisions by calculating the consequences of an action in terms of how much pain and
pleasure it causes the world. Wolff and Taurek both believe that this principle is too calculating,
and does not take into account the emotions of the decision maker. Both essays use examples that
involve choosing between killing one person you know and many people you don t know. Taurek
uses the example of having a pill that can save one person he knows, or five strangers. Wolff tells
a narrative about a man choosing between killing his only son, or a hundred people on a train. ...

He believes that emotions and personal relationships play a huge role in the decision making
process, and that choosing to kill your child, which is what a utilitarian would do, is a Bible
school answer (Wolff 79), meaning it is not a realistic choice. However, I tend to disagree as
utilitarianism takes into account the emotions of all, not just oneself. So, no matter how much
pain killing your loved one will cause you, it is nothing in comparison to the same pain the
hundreds of other families of those who died on the train will feel because you went to save your
son. In fact, Wolff is actually promoting selfishness. He is saying that you not morally wrong if
you choose to side with your own emotions over the same emotions felt by many more people.
Wolff needs to widen his view and think about how the consequences affect everyone, not just

Pros And Impacts Of Effective Communication In The Workplace
EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION 2
Effective Communication In the workplace, there is no way around not communicating. You will
always be put in a situation where you will always have to communicate with someone, whether it
is a co worker or your boss. The main thing about communication is being able to do it effectively.
Depending on the job, communication skills can make the difference between life and death
(Adler, Elmhorst, Lucas, 2013). Effective communication in the workplace can be challenging at
times. Communication is a process (Adler, Elmhorst, Lucas, 2013). I have 26 guards that work
under me and they vary from age, gender, and race. I cannot communicate with a 60 year old
female the same way I would communicate with a 25 year old male. Once I learned my workers
and what worked for each of them, I was able to get my point across to each one of them. The
approach may have been different but the outcome was the same. It helps knowing which
communication behaviors employees use routinely and effectively to be of benefit when
supervisors promote employees to take on additional communication tasks (Keyton et al., 2013).
Not everyone knows how to effectively communicate, therefore it is important to make sure you
have a good communicator when it comes to promoting jobs. Employees are expected to
communicate effectively by those they communicate with or on behalf of (Keyton et

Definition:
Korsakoff s psychosis, a form of amnesia often seen in chronic alcoholics that is characterised by a
loss of short term memory and an inability to learn new skills. The person is usually disoriented,
mat present with delirium and hallucinations, and confabulates to conceal the condition. The cause
of the condition can often be traced to degenerative changes in the thalamus as a result of a
deficiency of B complex vitamins, especially thiamine and B12 . (Harris, P Nagy, S Vardaxis, N
2010).
Most readily known as alcohol related dementia, Korsakoff s syndrome is also known as Korsakoff
s psychosis and Wernicke Korsakoff s syndrome.
Korsakoff syndrome is a preventable memory disorder that usually emerges (although not always)
in the outcome of an episode of Wernicke s encephalopathy, therefore the chronic disorder is
sometimes known as Wernicke Korsakoff syndrome. Wernicke encephalopathy is an acute brain
reaction to severe lack of thiamine. Wernicke encephalopathy is a medical emergency that causes
life threatening brain disruption, confusion, staggering and stumbling, lack of coordination, and
abnormal involuntary eye movements.
Korsakoff s syndrome, is a form of dementia associated with excessive alcohol consumption over a

Essay Analysis Of Advertisements For Two Different Things
Analysis of Advertisements for Two Different Things
In order for advertisements to succesfully portray a product, they must be directed to the
appropriate intended audience. Magazines, in general, are usually geared towards a specific
audience with distinct interests. Therefore, the `ads need to be carefully designed to attract the
attentions of the magazine reader. This very concept is well displayed in the two selected, yet very
different, magazine ads from the software magnate Microsoft Corporation.
The first ad is taken from Computer Games Strategy Plus a gaming magazine, as one might infer
from the title. The product `Monster Truck

From this, one can derive the intent to parallel the
`brute force and run over everything attitude that only a monster truck can possess, in the text.
The `Project ad explains very straight forwardly what the software is capable of doing for the
readers and their businesses. What this lacks in excitement is made up for through a very complete
description of the product.
This is appropriate for the intended audience: no nonsense, no hassle businessmen. Strangely
enough, the `Monster Truck ad, in sharp contrast, discusses absolutely nothing about the actual
game itself. Instead it elaborates on other parts of the ad more important to persuading the intended
group of people.
The pictures and images are, of course, `everything to an advertisement.
They retrieve preconceptions from each individual without using words at all.
Consequently, these pictures must express a meaning related to its intended purpose in this case,
to sell the product. In the `Monster Truck ad, the first image the reader should notice is the
massive blue and yellow monster truck. Certainly because it is the largest picture, but also because
it is seemingly `standing on its back tires. My first impression of this picture was one of pure awe.

Allusions In Brave New World
After the publishing of Aldous Huxley s Brave New World, modern literature has changed
forever. It is considered a masterpiece and one of the pillars of the dystopian novel. However,
both of those affirmations can be called into question. The former based on a subjective opinion of
a reader and the latter through compromising its dystopian nature. Similarly to George Orwell s
novels, the main appeal of Brave New Worldis within the ideas it contains, not within its literary
merits. Huxley s talent is essentially composed of his ideas and the attitude he assumes towards the
problems he presents. He took full advantage of his endowment in Brave New World Revisited, a
non fictionwork sequel to Brave New World. The sequel is devoid of a... Show more content on

Aldous Huxley himself seems to be more concerned with the scientific aspect of Brave New
World than with literary techniques and qualities. In a later edition of his novel, he expressed
his opinion that: One vast and obvious failure of foresight is immediately apparent, Brave New
World contains no reference to nuclear fission. Evidently, he pondered the topic of Brave New
World over and over and was not afraid to admit his faults. This utterly scientific approach is
illustrated by his formulation of the sequel, Brave New World Revisited. Clearly Huxley must
have seen Brave New World as more than just a literary fiction novel, if he was so persistant he
felt the need to recapitulate all his ideas after almost thirty years and furthermore, abandon the
literary fiction. Having said that, it must be acknowledged that if Brave New World would have
been written as a non fiction work, a scientific essay for example, it would have never been able
to spread to the extent it did as a novel. That is a motive possibly explaining Huxley s choice of
genre. But does someone who does not care about science deserve to enjoy the merits of
scientific prognosis? Whether such person does or does not deserve it is controvertible to judge,
therefore whether the motive was justifying Huxley s decision or not can be disputed. But Brave
New World could only profit from being refined for less general audience. One of the most
interesting elements in Brave New World is the

Empowerment in an Organization
Empowerment in an organization Empowerments is the process of enabling or authorizing an
individual to think, behave, take action, and control work and decision making in autonomous
ways. It is the state of feeling self empowered to take control of one s own destiny. In an
organization, empowerment is the redistribution of power and decision making responsibilities,
usually to employees, where such authority was previously a managementprerogative.
Empowerment is based on the recognition that employee abilities are frequently underused, and
that, given the chance, most employees can contribute more. Empowered workplaces are

Fashion Counterfeiting
Consumers want quantity over quality. Nowadays, it appears that more and more of the regular
consumers are uninterested in the quality of the product they buy, but rather how much they will
acquire from it. This leads to consumer purchasing fashion counterfeit products which is becoming
a rising issue in the United States and Europe. Counterfeiting is an illegal act of producing and
selling a replica of an authentic product without the permission of the designer. This market
expands from movies, games, money, even medicine to clothes and accessories. Counterfeiting is a
fast growing industry that is a worldwide problem which consumers play a huge role in. Aside

On the other hand, a woman who lives in a small town, who occasionally gets to encounter high end
merchandise would not be interested in the fine stitching of the handbag, so she will probably buy

aesthetics desire and because the luxury brands are way too expensive. This pushes consumers to
intentionally achieve their desired image via the consumption of high fashion counterfeits
(Juggessur and Cohen 384). These are the factors that contribute to luxury fashion counterfeit. For
this research, I interviewed one Apparel Merchandising and Management (AMM) students and
three consumers. The reason I specifically chose an AMM student is that this issue is regarding
their field and future careers. Since consumers play a factor in this massive industry, I chose three
random consumers between the ages of 16 to 35 years old. I asked each person the same five
questions regarding counterfeit and each question are significant to this research. The research
questions I asked are: Do you know what counterfeiting is? What do you think about counterfeit?
Have you intentionally or unintentionally purchase a counterfeit product? Why? Where? Do you

At midnight, Margo asks Quentin to complete eleven things with her that consist breaking into

Intake Form Critique

GW Associates Counseling and Hypotherapy (2016) is an organization that offers individual,
family, and couples counseling therapy. The agency also provides hypnotherapy as a therapeutic
modality. The organization uses A holistic approach to individual and family therapy (Weisser,

page multidimensional intake form that must be completed by the client or client s guardian.
Does it ask all of the necessary questions to determine the client s presenting problem?

For example, the pages with the long list of past psychiatric medications could be removed. That
section is redundant as the form already asks the client to list their medications. If that section was
removed, it would not impact the information or leave any void concern. Also, the open ended
question at the end that asks if the client wanted to share anything else could be shortened.
Overall, the intake form has some very key components. However, there are a few questions that
could be added to obtain clarity and a more comprehensive overview of the client s presenting

key individuals, groups, or organizations that are participants in the client s difficulties (Hepworth,

The Feudal System Of The Middle Ages Of England
The Feudal System in the Middle Ages of England was not the best system of government to go
by for everyone since it gave most of its power to the King, and made it impossible for the lower
class to improve themselves economically. People of higher rank expected the lower ranks of
society to pledge their loyalty to them and in turn, protected them. There came a time where
everybody became tired of never progressing, and people started to do something about it. The end
to Feudalismdid not just happen overnight, it took many years, a deadly disease and many angry
peasants for the social class to rise. First the nobles got the King to sign the Magna Carta, which
limited the King s power, years later a deadly disease caused the population of Englandto decrease
by 1/3, and finally, The Peasants Revolt which changed England forever. Feudalism first began
after a collapse of the Roman Empire, and barbarian tribes invading England. The social structure
that became the Feudalism, consisted of the clergy, knights and peasants. The clergy were the
religious people that dedicated themselves to the salvation of humanity. Kings, high nobles, and
low nobles who were soldiers and meant to defend others. The peasants were the people who
grew crops and tended animals. Some rented their land and the serfs worked for knights and were
legally tied to that land. Everyone had obligations to someone. This was the way the feudal system
worked. As time went by though, people realized they

Argumentative Analysis Of Nova Scotia s Music Industry
The music industry has undergone radical changes since the end of the 1990 s, largely a function
of the internet and its effects on sales and copyright. Besides placing artists and their music on the
world stage, the internet also permitted the downloading of music from free file exchange
networks. A parallel and equally worrisome, phenomenon is record pirating, a practice made easier
by the proliferation of CD burners and access to high speed internet. Unauthorized downloading and
pirating circumvent intellectual property laws and result in reduced sales. In Atlantic Canada,
average annual household expenditures on CDs and audio cassettes dropped by 27 percent
between 1996 and 2001, from $96.00 to $70.00.
The data on employment in the music industry do not take into account the many artists for whom
singing and music are secondary occupations.

revenues are declared or that do not appear in statistics. For example, Atlantic ... Show more content

The Domestic Policies of Diefenbaker and Pearson

Diefenbaker and Pearson
John George Diefenbaker and Lester Bowles Pearson both acted as Prime Minister of Canada
during the Cold War. The two were from different Canadian political parties that accorded to
their beliefs and principles, Diefenbaker being a Progressive Conservative party member and
Pearson a Liberal. Diefenbaker was leaning left as a Conservative, similarly to Eisenhower, who
was presiding at the time, and thus shared a fair relationship with him, though the same could not
be said for the US in general; Pearson s administration presided also along a Democratic
administration in the US, though they clashed often due to the American actions in the Vietnam
War. Diefenbaker was elected to office as his party held the greatest proportion in the Parliament,
however, he won only with a minority. During his administration, Diefenbaker implemented
policies that were considered liberal, most of which he was able to pass, in contrast to Pearson,
who only succeeded in passing near half of his due to the majority he lacked most times in the
House of Commons. Both Diefenbaker and Pearson had political experience before they became
PMs, they also share a similarity in that they attempted to solidify Canada as a nation and to remove
the hyphenation in Canadian citizenship; both achieving success in varying extents. However,
Diefenbaker shared differing views on Canadian dependence and

American ? For most in society, an image of a bloody crime scene or a smoking gun comes to
mind. However, there is a form of homicide that, due to its individuality, society has put it into a
category of its very own; this is known as serial murder. Serial murder is the rarest form of
homicide, although it has become widely popular (Haggerty Ellerbrok, 2001). From the very

Myths about Serial Killers
The phenomenon of serial killers has attracted immense attention from the public, to the media, and
has even crawled its way into Hollywood. Unfortunately because of their glorified fame, many
myths about serial murderers have surfaced. It is important that the facts are known instead of
incorrect information that backslides the understanding of the problem itself. The following list is
that of the more popular myths about serial murderers and the facts that correct these myths. 1.
Everyone is at danger from a serial killer. The problem with this myth is that serial killers have a
specific victim typology that they target. They do not just target victims at random, there is
always some method to their madness. For example, the elderly is not normally targeted by serial
murders and serial murders are known to be more prevalent in urban areas rather than in rural
areas (Holmes Holmes, pg. 10). 2. The FBI is involved in a serial murder cases. This myth can be
attributed to television and the many shows that air showing the FBI and their specialized division,
the Behavioral Analysis Unit, helping to solve serial murder cases. In truth,

Effects Of Rms On The Weekly Calls
As RMS continues to indicate, based on our observations and more importantly on the review of
assets during our weekly calls with Altisource, RMS continues to believe on many of these assets,
the condition or location of the property is the primary driver behind not only the large reduction in
list price, but ultimately a sales price well below the initial list price, all of which contribute to
extended days on market and an increase in carrying costs incurred by the Trust. We believe one of
the contributors to this relates to the Altisource process where the listing agent is not local to the
property and typically has not personally visited the assetto assess the condition, the location, drive
by the comps and generally may not be... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because Altisource cannot be directed to set the list price of an asset, RMS attempts to get
Altisource to recognize assets that are listed too high and to make appropriate adjustments that will
generate activity and offers.
RMS continues to review assets where we believe the list price set by Altisource is high relative
to our opinion of market value. On listed assets with DOM of more than 60 days, RMS and
Altisource discuss the list price and agent feedback to understand why purchase offers have not
been received. RMS targets these assets for review every 2 weeks.
Another recent observation is an increase in the number of assets in pending contract that fall
out because the buyer fails to return the purchase agreement. This trend has continued to
increase over the past several months. Although Altisource does not provide statistics regarding
overall fallout, RMS has seen an increase based on our observations and the weekly calls. We
believe this relates to the process by which Altisource sells REO assets (on the HUBZU
website), where there is no economic penalty to the bidder if they place an offer on a property
but fail to deliver an executed purchase agreement (similar to what would happen in a traditional
sale transaction). In addition, we believe the lack of agent to agent contact and knowledge of
whether a buyer visits the property prior to making an offer also play a role in the increased
fallout. Altisource reports

Labor Vs. Capital During The Late 1800s
The ensuing conflict, between labor vs. capital, during the late 1800s initiated a struggle of power
in the workforce between the rich industrialists (or corporate leaders) and the middle class/lower
class workers. The Capitalists had intervened with the protests orchestrated by the workers, ensuring
that the power remains with them. The strategies of the industrialists and the unique ways of
protesting from the workers, contributes to spur a vigorous argument between the employers and
their employees. The workers tried their best to ameliorate their working conditions by forming
numerous unions, trying to fix currency (gold to paper) to economically help themselves, refusing
to go to work, resorting to violence and non violence, etc. However, the Corporate leaders kept an
upper hand and dissolved the workers ambitions by hiring scabs, creating a strong relationship with
the military (Pullman strike), controlling and fixing policies at work, hiring immigrants for cheap
labor, etc. Throughout the late 1800s, the corporate leaders have been able to successfully prevent
workers who had resorted to: forming unions, protests (ex. Pullman strike and Homestead strike),
violence (ex. Haymarket Sq. Riot), etc., from achieving a radical solution to the workers issues with
the management by using several different strategies including but not limited to: hiring scabs
/immigrants in the Homestead strike, using government support in the Pullman strike and keeping
the power on their side

Challenges As An International Student Essay
Challenges as an International Student and How to Succeed in a Foreign Country
Who wants to study abroad or planning for JTA? I would like to tell you that studying abroad as
an international student is very challenging event in our lives. But, once we accomplish our
challenges, we have a bunch of chances to have a better job. So let me talk about my five
challenges while staying here in the Philippines. The first challenge I was dealing with was of
course the weather. Since Philippines is hot all the time, I really had to deal with the hotness. I
was sweating every single time, but now I got used to this weather. I think the best way to adapt
to the weather is to increase our fluid intake with water or sports drinks. Staying hydrated is
extremely important when staying in hot weather. The second challenge was adapting to the
people. People in the Philippines are kind of friendly. Wherever I go, people are trying to talk to
me even if I don t know them. Maybe since I am a foreigner, they are kind of interested on me,
but I felt uncomfortable at first, because people in Korea actually don t talk to the strangers that
much. In this case, we really have to get use ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

wish for things to change. Make a habit of talking to your friends and family back home regularly,
but try not to only talk to them. Go out and talk to people in your new home; make friends, go

Popularization Of Anesthetics During The Civil War
620,00 soldiers died in the Civil War, of those 2/3 of the deceased were struck down by disease.
Today modern medicine has solved many problems. For example, we now understand the
importance of sanitation, and how diseases spreads. However back in the 1800 s things like the
importance of sanitation and diseases spreading were not hugely known about. Which lead to a lot
problems and disgusting surroundings for doctors and patients.
Civil war medical treatment was rather unsafe. The popularization of anesthetics during that era
would be a prime example. At that time chloroform and ether were two popular forms of
anesthetic. Chloroform took about nine minutes to knock you out and was commonly used. Today
however, it has been labeled as possibly carcinogenic (causes cancer), and it affects the liver,
kidney, and CNS (central nervous system). Sanitation was also an issue. Doctors were known to
move on to patient after patient without wiping the blood off their blade from the last one. New of
sanitary practices, while known in Europe, hadn t quite gotten to America. Which lead to many
soldiers having infections. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Analysis of A P by John Updike
A P (supermarket) is a short story written by the hardworking and highly productive John Updike
and narrated in first person by a 19 year old protagonist and cashier named Sammy. It was
published in 1961 and is about Sammy s change of character and coming of age. Updike uses the
various shifts in tone, great attention to detail, and a great deal of symbolism to portray the
significant change. The opening sentence In walks three girls in nothing but bathing suits
(par.1) sets up the colloquial tone; it s as if Sammy was talking to a friend. As the story goes on,
the tone shifts from being informal to a little comical. He refers to the people in the checkout
lane as sheep and scared pigs in a chute. However, by the end the tone shifts yet again and
becomes heroic. The act of quitting a job (climax) in defiance of Lengel s (manager and
antagonist) unfair treatment of the girls is a strong indication of change in character. Sammy
hoped the girls would notice his act of heroism. Ironically, the girls do not hear him. Instead,
they head out forever disappearing from his life. Sammy s description of A P (setting) gives a
dull and conventional illustration. On the contrary, the description of the girls was sharp and
bright, characterizing him as a typical hormone driven teenager. He describes the first girl, Plaid
(nickname), as a chunky kid, with a good tan dressed in a bright green plaid two piece bathing suit
(par. 1). The second girl, Big Tall

Theme Of Death In Beowulf
Every man must expose himself to the reality that death is unescapable. There is no amount of
human strength, shiny armor nor treasured sword that can always prevent the inevitable. Any
character in literature that is being portrayed immortal is fiction. Beowulf as often as not regards
himself as the one who can conquer all. Beowulflike others is ignorant towards his own mortality.
Even though, Beowulf is successful in his earliest battles he still remains careless to the
understanding that he will die. The concept of mortality was something Beowulf was faced with
time and time again. Beowulf had to discover how accepting one s fate can later become the most

Beowulf after killing Grendal s mom by saying forever you will be your people s mainstay and

man s mortality. He informs Beowulf that he should learn true values and he has wintered into
wisdom . (Beowulf,1722 1724). He alerts Beowulf to the notion that one day he will die.
Hrothgar tells Beowulf that no amount of treasure or victories can gain a man s immortality.
Beowulf is advised to not act as Heremod once did. Heremod s rule only brought death and
destruction to the Danish people. (Beowulf,1712 1713). He killed his fellow comrades and
vented rage on any who wrong him. (Beowulf,1713 1715). Hrothgar does not want Beowulf to
be absent minded and ignore the shape of things to come. (Beowulf,1752). It appears that
Hrothgar wants Beowulf to be cautious of his actions. He tells Beowulf to choose eternal rewards
and not give way to pride. (Beowulf,1760). That is Hrothgar s approach to Beowulf about having
and representing Christen behaviors. The course of all the advice given by Hrothgar was because
he wanted Beowulf to accept his mortality. He told Beowulf that although his strength is in bloom it

Some of the earliest information on the church dates back to 1222 over a dispute between the Abbot
of Westminster and the Bishop of Londonover who had sole control over the church. The
Archbishop decided in favor of Westminster so the monks of Westminster Abbey began to use
the church for their own personal use. In 1542, Henry VIII rebuilt the church to keep plague
victims from the area from having to pass through his Palace of Whitehall. At this time in
history, the church isolated between the cities of Westminster and London so it was a good
place to keep the plague victims away from the rest of society. In 1606, James granted an acre of
land for a new churchyard. The building was enlarged eastwards, increasing the length of the
church by about half its original size (McMaster 105). The church was built of brick and covered
with stone facings. The roof was tiled and there was now a stone tower with buttresses protruding
from the back of the church. The ceiling was slightly arched while the interior was filled with
galleries on the north, south, and west sides. In 1720, Parliament passed an act for the rebuilding
of the church allowing for a sum of up to 22,000 pounds to be raised to rebuild it (McMaster 50). A
temporary church was constructed on the churchyard and partly on the ground for the reformation

right? Concealed under these factors lie environmental destruction as well as a damaged economy.
The Locavore Movement has been on the rise due to its nutritional benefits, however, this
overshadows the effects of locally grown foodon our environment and economy.
Many locavores say that locally grown produce contains more nutrients since they ve been
recently picked, unlike supermarkets where the produce has been left in the freezers for weeks.
In addition, they also claim that since it takes less distance to travel from farm to plate there is a
decreased chance of contamination (Source A). It s accurate to say that most produce grown from
local areas are healthier which is why the government plans to place more investments into farmers

Lethal Injections and the Involvement of Medical Personnel
Death penalty, or capital punishment, is the execution of a person as a punishment for a crime.
Throughout history, the death penalty has been a prominent part of society. In ancient
Mesopotamia, the death penalty was seen as retribution for certain crimes, and to this day, is now a
common practice in the United States. Before, when the United States were still colonies, the death
penalty had been carried out by hanging and other various methods but today in the modern age, the
Unites States method of execution in most states is lethal injection (Issitt). Unlike previous
methods, such as electrocution and the firing squad, the lethal injection is virtually painlessly due
to certain drugs being injected into the patient that put the patient to sleep during the process. Due
to its medical nature, medical personnel, such as anesthesiologists are needed to administer the
drugs, but is it ethical for them to participate in the execution of people?
Throughout the process of a lethal injection, there are many drugs inserted into the prisoner. Before
the drugs are administered, the prisoner is first brought into a room, that looks very much like a
hospital room, with all the medical equipment inside. Within the room, there is a cardiac monitor,
and other medical items. The inmate is then strapped to trolley, much like the one below: And

Describe The Differences In Terms Of The symbol Systems...
a) Describe the similarities and differences in terms of the (1) computational processes and(2)
symbol systems between human perception and machines that use deep learning techniques.
According to the computational process, human brain and a machines that use deep learning
techniques generally have major difference on three levels; (1) at the implementation level, human
brain uses neurons as the basic units to process the signals while the computers use transistors as
the basic logic gates for all operations on the data. (2) at the algorithmic level, brains use
connections such as axons to link the functional components of the brains and activate the
corresponding components for different tasks. However, computers use the symbolic representation
of the running processes and execute them with the step by step symbolic machine computations.
(3) at the computational level, the brains activate all the relevant cells to perform the tasks
concurrently with distributed parallel structures while computers generally use operating systems to
compute the tasks in a serial manner. Regrading the symbol systems, human brain is a complex
physical symbol system with continuous growing abilities. A symbol system consists of patterns
called symbols that occur as components of symbol structures called expressions. A symbol
structure pattern is composed of a number of symbols which are physically related. At any time, the
system will contain a collection of these symbol structures. Besides, the system also contains a
collection of processes that operate on expressions to produce other expression, such as processes of
creation, modification, reproduction and destruction. The most important properties of these
expression patterns are that they can designate objects, processes, or other expression patterns, and
when they designate processes, they can be interpreted. Interpretation in this concept means
carrying out the designated process. A physical symbol system is hence a machine that produces an
evolving collection of symbol structures and designated processes through time. We could claim
that the patterns of spikes in human neural system are symbols represented in the brain. The way a
human generates spikes is closely related to

How Does Socrates Value Of The Soul
Socrates believes that the soul is not always for what is good. This is when the complexities of
moral psychology become an important issue. That is found in Plato s mature moral theory. It is
eventually put together that the value of justice is related to what value is of the soul. Socrates
then develops his famous comparison between the soul and the city. As he cultivates this city, it
seems become an ideal city, which he proceeds to construct in his discussion. The ideal city has
three classes of citizens. The class to which he belongs, in turn, determines one s function. So rulers
should rule and not amass wealth the function of the farmers, artisans, and merchants; if the rulers
turn from ruling to moneymaking they are unjust. For

Public Health Leadership And Management
Final Essay
Public Health Leadership and Management
POPH90218
In relation to being required to improve the poor performance of a team of 40 staff working on a
HIV project in a developing country identify key leadership and management challenges and
solutions, and provide reasons/evidence to support the efficacy of your suggestions.
Introduction:
Regardless of context, positions of leadership and management inevitably come with their share of
challenges. In this essay I will examine the challenges of being appointed to improve the poor
performance of a team of forty staff working on a HIV project in a developing country. Following
the identification of each challenge I will present a series of effective, evidence based solutions.
Leadership will be defined as a process of social influence in which one person can enlist the aid
and support of others in the accomplishment of a common task (Chemers, 1997) and management
will be defined as the process of working with and through other people to accomplish the
objectives of both the organization and its members (Montana and Charnox, 2008)
It is important to recognise that public health problems are complex and can be vast in magnitude.
By nature health affects all populations, and therefore health leadership and management must
consider chain reactions into economic and social problems, as well as direct health outcomes.
Due to the enormity and complexity of public health leadership and management, this essay aims

Is Hell Exothermic Essay
How Logical is the Essay
Regarding to the essay question Is Hell exothermic or endothermic, though the answer that the
student gave was not exactly logical per se, but was certainly well deserved for the grade that he
got due to his creative and innovative way of thinking.
First, the question itself was based on the premise that Hell does exist, which we know most of the
scientists do not agree, as well as the existence of Heaven and God/gods. And since Hell is not to
be found in a place where we can probe, and no one has ever been there and came back, nobody
can tell for sure how does Hell functions . Thus we know that the intension of this question was not
actually to find the answer of the operation of Hell, but to test on how the

Food Borne Illness Analysis
In 2015 there was a foodborne illness outbreak at Chipotle; a common and very popular
restaurant. The outbreak had hit several states and a total of 22 were effected by E. Coli and
some even had to be hospitalized (Time 1). This goes to show that consumers are not being
concerned enough with the food they are eating, even at a favorite restaurant. Foodborne
illnesses are preventable, a common problem, and health issue, but they can be very serious and
even fatal. Studies shows that there have been 48 million cases of food borne illnesses annually
which is 1 in 6 Americans each year. This results in 128,000 hospitalizations and 3,000 deaths
(U.S Food and Drug 1). Food Borne illnesses are infections that are usually caused by bacteria,
molds and toxins, parasites, and allergens. Specific examples of the dangers of food safetyare
illnesses such as botulism, E. coli, and salmonella. These illnesses can lead to long term effects
including, kidney failure, chronic arthritis, brain damage, and even death. Most people are not
aware of the food they are consuming and need to be more concerned to prevent any further
illnesses or problems. Consumers are not aware enough of the... Show more content on

Foodborne illnesses can not only effect people but also their families and jobs. It is very
reasonable to be super cautious and aware of food safety and how to prevent any or further food
poisoning incidents, Jenna Reason only named off a few of the numerous reasons, but of course
those are not the only ones. People need to take a minute to sit down and see all the reasons on
why to be better prepared when cooking and better take in the risks they are taking when not being

How A Quilt Helps Your Body And Comfort The Soul
Have you ever pricked yourself while sewing a big bulky quilt by putting the pieces together?
Yes, it may have happened quite a few times while you were in the middle of the process. A quilt
can warm the body and comfort the soul. It is a warm bed covering made of padding enclosed
between layers of fabric and kept in place by lines of stitching, made to comfort and warm people
s body when they are a little chilly. Sewing is important because without the stitching, the fabrics
wouldn t be held in place correctly. Quilting can be also a big challenge because it is time
consuming, but it would all be worth it because a quiltcan last forever and also hold memories for a
lifetime. There are many important aspects to quilting and sewing, such... Show more content on

The wealthy people of that time were the only ones that could afford the expensive fabric that
was imported. The quilts displayed the fine needle work of the maker. During the 1800s in
many parts of the country, before a young woman got married and had a family, she would have
to make a baker s dozen of quilt tops. The engagement quilt collection had to consist of 12 utility
quilts, undoubtedly pieces and one great quilt for her bridal bed. After the engagement, she
would make the last step to turn her tops into finished quilts. In the early 1990 s, once again
became a popular hobby for many people. Quilting became popular because back then people
loved the quilting process and how the quilts turned out to be. Some of the handwork involved
in quilting was actually a relaxation for pioneer woman. It was also a relief from the drudgery
and family life on the frontier. Fine handwork was a source of pride and status. During the time
of the Great Depression, people were too poor, or so broke that they couldn t afford to buy
blankets, so mostly everyone relied on women s handy skills and resources to make blankets or
quilts to keep them and their family warm in the winter time. They used the left over pieces of
material from clothing, blankets, and feed sacks and used them for quilters when they couldn t buy
anything else. Between the 1970 s and the 1980 s, the granddaughters of the older women began to
see their interest in quilting and sewing. In the late 1960 s, it

Comparing Bottlerack, Barnett Newman s Eve And Ana Mendieta
The three works that will be compared are Marcel Duchamp s Bottlerack, Barnett Newman s Eve
and Ana Mendieta s Silueta. Placed together the pieces show us three varying genres, each from
different periods in the twentieth century. Between the artists we also see obvious connections
in how they have challenged the spectator, and the art world alike, in viewing their art. All artists
removed something , be it a body in Silueta or the purpose of the Bottlerack and Eve s figurative
form or vanishing point. All were met with a critique of the processes in which their work were
produced and likewise they also received admiration for their forward thinking, progressive art.
There is a noticeable difference in the creative processes that have taken place to produce these
works. Duchamp, it could be argued, has taken the least time in producing or creating his
Bottlerack. After all, Duchamp was the inventor ...of the readymade... (Gaiger, 2003. p.63). Also
call an unassisted readymade where the artist has not interfered with or altered the object and we
are asked to appreciate the object, as it stands before us.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We see the challenges they have faced in pushing the art world beyond the accepted and
experimenting with something new. The artists have offered us a new experience, one which asks
us to reflect upon their works. One that seeks us to return to our most basic thoughts, to being that
Man s hand tracing a stick through the mud to make a line... (Newman, 2002. p.574). To see art as a
means of communication through expressive forms that contradict, and challenge, our reactions to
what we see and hold as real in everyday life. To summarise, these artists have shown us the
innovative journey their art has taken through the twentieth century, giving us an opportunity to
establish new skills in interpreting

A Hectic Schedule Analysis
A Hectic Schedule The term struggle is used frequently amongst the teenagers of this generation.
It is commonly used for almost every job which is not appealing. They say life is such a struggle
which is a true statement, but it is such a broad statement it has different meaning for every
individual. My struggle in life is time management. Sophomore year was not too hectic for me
as I was taking honors classes and deeply involved in Asian and Pacific Islander Club. I was also
in the musical which taught me how to balance my school life and after school curriculars even
more. I also committed to volunteer at PAST E for a few months after school. With my
experience of balancing school life and activities sophomore year, I thought it would be fun to
add more extra curriculars to my schedule. At the end of my sophomore year I applied to be the
head chairwoman of the diversity and community committees as I believed I had good attributes
of leading these communities. I wanted to give back to the CC community. I was denied both
positions, but the diversity committee called me back after a day within the interviews. I accepted
it graciously even though I was warned there would be a lot of extra work. In addition to accepting
a leadership role, I also committed myself... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

that four AP/honors classes would be difficult and work demanding, but little did I know how
difficult it would be on top of student council. I would wake up at 6:00 in the morning, leave my
house at 6:20, and arrive at school in time for student council meetings which begin at 7. After
school ended, I would go to cross country practice and would come home just in time for dinner. I
would work on homework for hours before finally sleeping in order to get up to begin the same

There Have Been Numerous Historical Evidences Shown About
There have been numerous historical evidences shown about the Pre colonial history of Black
kingdoms in Africa. Many historians have concluded that the people that inhabit Pre colonial Africa
were anthropologically Black. However, there has been so much controversy and misconception
about the ethnicity of ancient Egyptiansby many historians. The controversy is due to many
ethnocentric historians and anthropologists attributing the development of the Egyptian civilization
to the Caucasian people. Dr. Herbert J. Foster, historian from Staten Island Community College,
argues that significant amounts of people inhabiting Egyptwere black; they were major contributors
to the development of the Egyptian civilization. Dr. Herbert utilizes... Show more content on

There were many quotes throughout the article by anthropologists that echoed the sentiment that it
was the Hamites who settled and helped develop Egypt. One notable anthropologist that Dr. Herbert
wrote about was C. G. Seligman. Seligman solidified the new Hamitic Hypothesis by praising the
success and accomplishments that happened in Africa and Egypt to the Caucasian Hamites. Dr.
Herbert then noted that Seligman s theory, still persists in the writings of numerous anthropologists
and historians. Dr. Herbert was able to use evidences from different fields such as anthropology and
history to understand the controversy surrounding the Hamitic Hypothesis.
Dr. Herbert uses scientific, archeological and historical evidences to argue that the ethnicity of
Egyptians was black; and that they were major contributors to the Egyptian civilization. Historical
evidence was used to support the argument that there were blacks contributing to the expansion of
Egypt. Dr. Herbert quoted an author of African History, Basil Davidson, who argued, that the
ancient ancestors of present day Africa were an important and perhaps dominant element among the
people who fathered early Egyptian civilization. Herbert used scientific studies to help support the
claim that Davidson made. Dr. Herbert first talked about the study done in 1905 by Randall McIver
and Thompson who surveyed ancient Egyptian skulls. Randall McIver and Thompson

The Removal Of The Screening Current Induced Field
This paper presents the details of a recent study on the removal of the screening current induced
field (SCIF) in a pancake type noninsulated high temperature superconductor (HTS) coil (NI coil).
To determine the SCIF in the NI coil, the magnetic flux density (Bz) was calculated using the
equivalent circuit model of the coil and compared to Bz obtained empirically. The experimental
results exhibited that the SCIF elimination in the NI coil enhanced upon increasing the amplitude
and frequency of the AC current being supplied to the background coil. Moreover, the SCIF in the
NI coil could be successfully removed by applying the appropriate intensity of an external AC
magnetic field. This is because the magnetization direction of SCIF completely changed from
radial to spiral, and the phenomenon is termed the vortex shaking effect. Overall, this study
confirmed that the SCIF in a pancake type NI coil can be effectively removed by exposing the coil
to an external AC magnetic field.
1. Introduction
The second generation (2G) high temperature superconductor (HTS) coated conductor (CC) is
regarded as a promising material for the development of ultrahigh field magnets for use in nuclear
magnetic resonance (NMR) or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) applications. This is because
the dependence of the critical current (Ic) in the CC on external magnetic fields is lower than
those in its low temperature counterparts [1 4]. However, in the case of a quench, the 2G HTS
magnet is

Social Security And Health Insurance Program
At its initiation in 1965, Medicare expected to provide health insurance to Americans age 65 and
older and to younger people with certain disabilities or health conditions. It was a two part plan.
Part A providing payment to the hospital, home health following hospital stays, skilled nursing
facility, and hospice care for the aged and disabled. Part A is paid by payroll deductions with no
premiums for those who contributed. Part B, is an optional medical insurance program for which
enrollees pay a monthly premium. Part B can be used to pay for physician, outpatient hospital,
home health, and other services for the aged and disabled. Although it was considered during the
1930 s as a part of president Roosevelt new deal. It was believed that the inclusion of the plan
could jeopardize the success of social security and hence was not added at that time. President
Truman officially initiated the talks on national health insurance program, but LBJ finally signed it
into law and added it to the Social security amendment in 1965. Since 1965 Medicarehad changed
multiple times with extended eligibility to individuals under age 65 who have long term
disabilities or end stage renal disease. Addition of Part C (Medicare+Choice), also known as
Medicare Advantage, drug benefit inclusion or Medicare Part D, the most recent Patient Protection
and Affordable Care Act. The responsibility for overseeing Medicare and it funding lies with the
Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

Why Was Pablo Escobar Important
Pablo Escobar was important because over his lifetime, he used his power to develop Colombia
into a narco state for the betterment of the people. First, Pablo was a very influential man as well
as an expert cocaine dealer, accumulating large amounts of money and changing the drug dealing
game. Pablo changed the legal drug system of many countries and also over his lifetime, and he
made over $4 billion off of cocaine dealing in which he funded for Colombia( Pablo Escobar ). This
suggests that if Pablo didn t deal drugs, the systems of countries drug imports and exports would
be sub par and challenged by other drug dealers; like El Chapo. Secondly, Escobar was a very
powerful man in the narcotic business as well as his home country of Colombia.

The Space Race Continuity And Change
Walking, that s the original mode of transportation. The only things that could be moved are the
things that can be carried and the furthest part of the world was the furthest part a human could
walk to. Then came sailboats and wheels and the world was drastically changed forever.
Everything changed. No one could walk on water so sailboats were the first things used to travel
the rest of the world. There was more land and more water than anyone man could walk to.
Sailboats helped with that. When someone arrives in those places how is he or she supposed to
carry everything? That is when the wheel became so important. People had carriages and wagons
and animals to pull those things which are on wheels. The entire world changed as transportation...

During the late 50s and early 60s the United States was falling behind in this race, but it wasn t
over. The next task was to be able to send groups of people into space together on one ship. This
initiated the Voskhod and Gemini programs, Voskhod in the Soviet Union and Gemini in the
United States. In the Soviets case there was not much changed from the Vostok craft except for
the fact that they could fit 2 or 3 people on the craft. The Soviet Union only did two manned
flights with the Voskhod program and left it; one flight in 64 and one in 65. The United States
had completely changed from their original Mercury program though. It had a new design and
the new design retained the conical, nickel alloy walls and fiberglass ablative heat shield of
Mercury, it also made use of new features such as translations control thrusters to alter orbit,
hydrogen/oxygen fuel cells to generate electricity, a radar system to allow rendezvous with
other craft, and avionics that could withstand depressurization (Universe Today). These missions
whether one manned or not all helped paved the way to the final lap in the race to space. The
United States and the Soviet Union each wanted to be the first to put a man on the moon; thus
the start of the Soyuz and Apollo programs. For the UNITED States and NASA the Apollo
missions started in 1961, but the first flight was in 1967 after they concluded with all the Gemini
missions. The first ever Apollo flight ended in tragedy with an electrical fire starting and the
capsule was destroyed killing the three people on board of the spacecraft. Many unmanned trials
went about until finally the second manned trial by NASA in December 1968 with the Apollo 8
flight. Unlike Apollo 1, Apollo 8 was a huge

  • 3. Motte And Bailey Castles In Europe During The Middle Ages Motte and bailey castles have been built all over Europe during the Middle Ages, especially in England, Wales, and Scotland. They were extremely popular for almost 200 years, and motte castles continued to be built until the 13th century. They were very innovative during the Medieval time period. Motte and bailey castles were hard work to construct and eventually evolved into impressive, more advanced fortresses. The original motte and bailey castles were incredibly cheap to construct. They were built from just earth and wood and didn t require any special design. A wooden keepcalled a motte sat on an elevated bank of soil and overlooked the bailey, an enclosed courtyard. Although some cases consisted of the motte sitting upon a hill, most of the time mottes were on a man made piece of earthwork. Men would pile up dirt and clay and flatten out the top to create a stable surface for the motte. The keep was the building, originally made of wood, that sat upon the motte. This is where the lord and his wife lived. It was surrounded by a protective wall,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Concentric castles were made of stone and built primarily for protection and defense. The building of these concentric designs began in the 1200s. The castles consisted of thick walls surrounding the main castle, usually one large wall surrounding a smaller one. The walls were designed to create obstacles for anyone trying to attack the castle. The hard, tall walls made it difficult for the attacker to get at the castle and made it easier for the defenders to fire at them from above. Its symmetrical shape also made it easier for lookout men to see across the surrounding countryside. The concentric castles, as beneficial as they were, were also extremely expensive and time consuming to build. As opposed to motte and bailey castles, which only took a few weeks to build, concentric castles required years of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Paradoxical Trinity Analysis The age of the robot warrior machine is looming, and it represents monumental changes in the future conduct of war. Increased precision and decreased risk make the automation of warriors both politically and militarily attractive. In the future, government and military leaders will have to address the numerous moral and ethical questions concerning when, where and how to utilize these lifeless soldiers. In the past, many leaders relied on the military theory from the Prussian theorist Carl Von Clausewitzbook On Warto answer similar questions. Even though his theories have formerly provided guidance, can the ideas written in the 1800 s, truly be useful when applied to such drastic changes in the future conduct of war. Clausewitz military ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Measuring, comparing, or correlating the ever changing interaction between them is impossible. The only constant is that all three are always in existence, pulling and pushing for an assemblance of equilibrium. Any attempt to ignore one of them or limit another would render them useless . The trinity and the absolute existence of the three elements represent the unique unchanging nature of war. The enduring nature and profoundness suggests that the Holy Trinity (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) may have influenced Clausewitz, which is undoubtedly also a bias of this author. Many scholars have argued over its interpretation, especially with regard to the secondary trinity referenced by Clausewitz as the people, the commander with his army, and the government . One notion that is agreeable to this author is that the secondary trinity of the people, army, and government was Clausewitz attempt at the application of the theory. The application in this way also discards the argument that the term war can only apply a state. Because of this, the elements of his paradoxical trinity can be applied not only to state actors, but to non state, warlords, gangs, fanatical groups or even individuals. The only requirement is humans. Other Students of Clausewitz have developed their own simplified interpretations of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. April 22 Passages Analysis One reason these passages are different is because in the poem it basically states that paul was just riding through each town without nothing happening to him. But in the letter he s beaten up by some british officers and had a tough time. Another reason these passages are different is because in the poem paul stays on his horse the whole time. In the letter he frequently leaves his horse but is mostly on it. Both of these passages had great stories on that night, and gave great detail.another difference is that the timelines are not the same. In the poem it s in april 18, 1775, but in letter it has two timelines, one in 1774 and the same one in April 18, 1775. I have quotes from each passage to support my claim. • 6. Lessexuality And Homosexuality In today s society sexuality has an undertone of heterosexuality from books, television shows, movies, and all forms of mass media. To be other than heterosexual is be different but however conforming to the idea of being different as homosexual is still be affirmed to the standard that heterosexuality is normal. This idea of the creation story from Aristophanes speech during the Symposium, I interpret that both homosexualityand heterosexualityis the norm instead of one without the one. According to the myth two halves are craving the other not just man and women craving each other. However in modern times we have developed a patrichal society that has forced heterosexuality as a suppression of women, as the manifestation of male power... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Secondly, personally in my experience music is one of the biggest influences on sexuality. I have older parents that listen to older music like love songs or rap that focus on heterosexual relationships, because sex sells. When I say this I mean that if the media has 99% of the time portrayed heterosexuality as the norm and it coincides with family standards that was placed in my life I would not know anything else. In an old school catholic black family heterosexuality was the only option. I mention these details because Adrienne Rich mentions in some books that she has read concerning this issue, never addressed innate orientation directly, only hinting or subliminally addressing the idea of preference . The example she uses makes me think enough to be able to know the way my parents addressed homosexuality as comedial or religiously a sin like most people who seek understanding beyond their family it did not make sense, however the catholic church is mostly ran by male figures instances like this furthers what Kathleen Gough sees as me s ability to deny women sexuality or force it upon them. Music only currently became inclusive on the mainstream because likemoy family this standards were held for so long, but still we use music like this like religion to address what we do not understand. Music like Frank Ocean s Thinking About You and his whole Orange Album was still held as unnatural instead being used as the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Resistance in a Wire Coursework Resistance in a Wire Coursework In this investigation we are trying to look for resistance in a piece of wire, and how the length of a wire can increase or decrease the resistance. The things that affect the resistance in a wire are: the length of the wire a certain amount of wire cross sectional area of the wire (thickness) temperature material What things can affect the resistance in a wire? The temperature can affect the resistance in a wire, because the more thermal energy a component has the more the atoms within it will vibrate and get in the path of the free electrons, so the higher the temperature, more resistance is being produced. Material can affect the resistance due to the number of free ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The thickness of the wire decreases. Once you have figured out the thickness of the wire (length x width), you will be able to calculate the ohms law. Prediction My prediction for this experiment is, once the length of the wire increases, so will the resistance. What my results show me My results show me that once the readings on the ammeter and the voltage increase, so will the resistance, because of this we decided to increase the length of wire used by 10cm each time a reading was recorded. Method 1.Set up the series circuit. 2.Connect the crocodile clip to 30cm along the wire. 3.Switch on the power supply. 4.Record readings from the ammeter and voltmeter. 5.Switch off the power supply. 6.Repeat the stages of 2 6 three times at length 30cm intervals up to 1 metre. What I did and why I kept my experiment a fair test in the following ways: I did not change any parts of the circuit (wires, ammeter, voltmeter or battery pack) in between the measurements this would have prevented small discrepancies between circuit components from affecting the results. When taking the measurements from the voltmeter and ammeter, I waited for the reading to settle completely. If it didn t settle, then I would have made an estimate of the middle value being shown. Waiting for the reading to settle prevented accidentally taking a reading while the value is fluctuating randomly when the power is first turned ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Downfall of Neanderthals Essay Many scientist have spent their lives trying to unravel the mystery that is the demise of the neanderthals. Today, with their help, using a phylogenic tree, we know that they are closely related to humans and slightly related to gorillas. With that information, we can further conclude that many things impacted them including climate change, interbreeding, and humaninteraction. Using the Journal Advances in Complex Systems research compiled on the end of Neanderthals came to light. When Neanderthals and early humans land use patterns changed during the last ice age, computer modeling showed that the two populations began to mingle and mate, leading to the extinction of one of the groups because of hybridization. Neanderthals died out.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Further more, there are numerous humans walking around today with a percentage of Neanderthal DNA, suggesting a mating between Humans and Neanderthals. Ground breaking research done by Barton and Julien Riel Salvatore from the University of Colorado Denver, in the journal, Advances in Complex Systems, hint that the Neanderthals demise was due to a multitude of influences, mostly climate changes. Cultural and socio ecological changes in behavior were researched using archaeological data in Western Eurasia during the past 120,000 years. When Neanderthals and early humans land use patterns changed during the last ice age, computer modeling showed that the two populations began to mingle and mate, leading to the extinction of one of the groups because of hybridization. Addressing the possibility that the two groups would not have looked at one another as potential mates, the researchers examined the possible effects of social barriers on mating in their models as well. They found that unless social taboos were almost 100 percent effective, it would have not made a difference in generations over time as the gene pools mixed. Conclusion Neanderthals are highly misunderstood. Their demise is questioned by many but in the end researchers have come to an answer. • 9. Should Deaf People Receive Cochlear Implants Or... Should deaf people receive cochlear implants or communicate through sign language? The use of cochlear implants has become a very controversial topic within the deaf community. My question was inspired by the sources Why Is Dancing So Good for Your Brain and from Mapping the Bilingual Brain . Both sources mentioned sign language, which made me think about the debate over whether deaf people should receive a cochlear implantor communicate solely through sign language. The first single channel cochlear implant was introduced in 1972 as an electrical device that provides a sense of hearing to those that are profoundly deaf or severely hard of hearing (Tallungan). Though the technology behind cochlear implants has improved, there is still a divide throughout the United States as to whether deaf individuals should receive cochlear implants or communicate solely through sign language. But, by December 2012, 58,000 adults and 38,000 children had received cochlear implant in the United States (Tallungan). While there are many risks involved with cochlear implants, there could also be many benefits. The question that remains is, Do the benefits of receiving a cochlear implant outweigh the risks? Although many advances have been made scientifically to improve the effectiveness of cochlear implants, it is also important to examine the opinions of the deaf society, how a deaf person s communication skills may develop with or without a cochlear implant, and the economic factors ... • 11. Theme Of Laughter In Brave New World Ignorant New World Why do people laugh? Is it an effect from a witty joke, a nervous tic, or perhaps a humorous accident? Whatever the reason is, laughter is a contagious and social occurrence. In the book, Brave New World, there are many circumstances where laughter takes place. However, the people in the book are laughing for a different reason. They are not necessarily aware of what they are laughing about. It is not that they are replacing thinking with laughter, instead, they do not have the ability to comprehend what they are laughing at. They allow laughter to cover up the absence of understanding something. A lack of individuality paired with society s teachings creates people who do not know what they are laughing at, nor why... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The restraints on which the society functions on causes a lack of exposure to specific topics and ideas. For instance, the humans are made in labs and do not have families. This causes the people of the society to not understand family bonds. They are aware of what families are but cannot truly understand the concept. Families are taught to be viewed as smutty. They are described as suffocating intimacies, what dangerous, insane, obscene relationships between the member of the family group! (Aldous Huxley, 37). Additionally, the government also controls what the people do and do not learn. This can be seen with the hypnopedia. But it goes even deeper than that. There is an erasure of entire concepts. For instance, there is no such thing as religion within Brave New World. The Controller explains to the Savage why there is no religion by saying that, God isn t compatible with machinery and scientific medicine and universal happiness. You must make your choice. Our civilization has chosen machinery and medicine and happiness (Aldous Huxley, 234). He also states that in order to achieve stability, you ve got to choose between happiness and what people used to call high art. We ve sacrificed the high art (Aldous Huxley, 220). • 12. Summary Of Every Trip Is A Quest 1 3. The main idea of Chapter 1 Every Trip Is a Quest (Except When It s Not) (pp.1 6) can be concluded in the following sentence: every story is a quest that consists of a person that has a reason to go to a certain place with challenges on one s way which then leads the particular person (usually the main hero of a story) to the actual, or real, reason associated with self knowledge, because the quest is always educational. 4. The next key words were identified in the chapter and serve as an informal outline of the chapter. At the beginning of the chapter, Foster gives a brief example of a quest: a knight (Kip), a dragon road (German shepherds), Holy Grail (wonder bread), one dragon ( 68 Cuda), evil knight (Tony) and a princess (the laughing girl). In other words, each story has a quester, a place to go to, along with stated reason to go there and unknown challenges and trials en route; however, at the end there is a real reason for the whole trip self discovery (Foster 3). The stated reason is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are many similarities between Gottschall and Foster s ideas. At first, Foster talks about The Crying of Lot 49 which he refers to as to one of the best examples of all quest tales; in The Crying of Lot 49 the heroine meets scary and dangerous people, and involves herself into postal conspiracies. This is why Foster calls it one of the greatest quest books it is entertaining, mystifying and has a defined quest. Moreover, that is what Gottschall talks about in the first chapter that humans are by nature story telling beings, and this is why we want to read, and write stories in the most entertaining way (20). The second example can be compared to ideas in Gottscchall s book in chapter 3. According to Gottscchall, if there is no knotty problem, there is no story (49). That is exactly what Foster is claiming: every story has a quest which includes a challenge and a task, a trip and a goal; whereas, Gottscchall refers to it as to a ... • 13. Critical Analysis Of The Night In Question By Tobias... Gabe Barclay Intro to Ethics 04 TA: Ashli Godfrey September 26, 2016 The Dehumanizing and Immoral Alternatives to Utilitarianism The Night in Question by Tobias Wolff and Should the Numbers Count by John Taurek are both critical analyses that argue against the moral principles of utilitarianism. This theory is used to make decisions by calculating the consequences of an action in terms of how much pain and pleasure it causes the world. Wolff and Taurek both believe that this principle is too calculating, and does not take into account the emotions of the decision maker. Both essays use examples that involve choosing between killing one person you know and many people you don t know. Taurek uses the example of having a pill that can save one person he knows, or five strangers. Wolff tells a narrative about a man choosing between killing his only son, or a hundred people on a train. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He believes that emotions and personal relationships play a huge role in the decision making process, and that choosing to kill your child, which is what a utilitarian would do, is a Bible school answer (Wolff 79), meaning it is not a realistic choice. However, I tend to disagree as utilitarianism takes into account the emotions of all, not just oneself. So, no matter how much pain killing your loved one will cause you, it is nothing in comparison to the same pain the hundreds of other families of those who died on the train will feel because you went to save your son. You will always be put in a situation where you will always have to communicate with someone, whether it is a co worker or your boss. The main thing about communication is being able to do it effectively. Depending on the job, communication skills can make the difference between life and death (Adler, Elmhorst, Lucas, 2013). Effective communication in the workplace can be challenging at times. Communication is a process (Adler, Elmhorst, Lucas, 2013). I have 26 guards that work under me and they vary from age, gender, and race. I cannot communicate with a 60 year old female the same way I would communicate with a 25 year old male. Once I learned my workers and what worked for each of them, I was able to get my point across to each one of them. The approach may have been different but the outcome was the same. It helps knowing which communication behaviors employees use routinely and effectively to be of benefit when supervisors promote employees to take on additional communication tasks (Keyton et al., 2013). Not everyone knows how to effectively communicate, therefore it is important to make sure you have a good communicator when it comes to promoting jobs. Employees are expected to communicate effectively by those they communicate with or on behalf of (Keyton et ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Strangely enough, the `Monster Truck ad, in sharp contrast, discusses absolutely nothing about the actual game itself. Instead it elaborates on other parts of the ad more important to persuading the intended group of people. The pictures and images are, of course, `everything to an advertisement. They retrieve preconceptions from each individual without using words at all. Consequently, these pictures must express a meaning related to its intended purpose in this case, to sell the product. It is considered a masterpiece and one of the pillars of the dystopian novel. However, both of those affirmations can be called into question. The former based on a subjective opinion of a reader and the latter through compromising its dystopian nature. Similarly to George Orwell s novels, the main appeal of Brave New Worldis within the ideas it contains, not within its literary merits. Aldous Huxley himself seems to be more concerned with the scientific aspect of Brave New World than with literary techniques and qualities. In a later edition of his novel, he expressed his opinion that: One vast and obvious failure of foresight is immediately apparent, Brave New World contains no reference to nuclear fission. Evidently, he pondered the topic of Brave New World over and over and was not afraid to admit his faults. This utterly scientific approach is illustrated by his formulation of the sequel, Brave New World Revisited. Clearly Huxley must have seen Brave New World as more than just a literary fiction novel, if he was so persistant he felt the need to recapitulate all his ideas after almost thirty years and furthermore, abandon the literary fiction. Having said that, it must be acknowledged that if Brave New World would have been written as a non fiction work, a scientific essay for example, it would have never been able to spread to the extent it did as a novel. That is a motive possibly explaining Huxley s choice of genre. But does someone who does not care about science deserve to enjoy the merits of scientific prognosis? Whether such person does or does not deserve it is controvertible to judge, therefore whether the motive was justifying Huxley s decision or not can be disputed. Analysis of A P by John Updike A P (supermarket) is a short story written by the hardworking and highly productive John Updike and narrated in first person by a 19 year old protagonist and cashier named Sammy. It was published in 1961 and is about Sammy s change of character and coming of age. Updike uses the various shifts in tone, great attention to detail, and a great deal of symbolism to portray the significant change. The opening sentence In walks three girls in nothing but bathing suits (par.1) sets up the colloquial tone; it s as if Sammy was talking to a friend. As the story goes on, the tone shifts from being informal to a little comical. He refers to the people in the checkout lane as sheep and scared pigs in a chute. However, by the end the tone shifts yet again and becomes heroic. The act of quitting a job (climax) in defiance of Lengel s (manager and antagonist) unfair treatment of the girls is a strong indication of change in character. Sammy hoped the girls would notice his act of heroism. Ironically, the girls do not hear him. Instead, they head out forever disappearing from his life. Sammy s description of A P (setting) gives a dull and conventional illustration. On the contrary, the description of the girls was sharp and bright, characterizing him as a typical hormone driven teenager. He killed his fellow comrades and vented rage on any who wrong him. (Beowulf,1713 1715). Hrothgar does not want Beowulf to be absent minded and ignore the shape of things to come. (Beowulf,1752). It appears that Hrothgar wants Beowulf to be cautious of his actions. He tells Beowulf to choose eternal rewards and not give way to pride. (Beowulf,1760). That is Hrothgar s approach to Beowulf about having and representing Christen behaviors. The course of all the advice given by Hrothgar was because he wanted Beowulf to accept his mortality. The logic of the growth of the bubble is very simple. People who had increased their wealth substantially with the extraordinary run up of stock prices were spending based on this increased wealth. This led to the consumption boom of the late 90s, with the savings rate out of disposable income falling from close to 5.0 percent in the middle of the decade to just over 2 percent by 2000. * Increase in Demand The stock wealth induced consumption boom also led people to buy bigger and/or better homes, since they sought to spend some of their new stock wealth on ... The Church of St. Martin in the Fields Essay If you walk along Charing Cross Road from Tottenham Court Road you will come across an area called Trafalgar Square, which is a well known public space and tourist attraction in Central London. The Square is situated in the city of Westminster and at its center is Nelson s column, which is surrounded by four lion statues at its base. In the area there are a number of commemorative statues and sculptures within the Square. Just as you reach the square on the left is a church called St. Martin in the Fields. Some of the earliest information on the church dates back to 1222 over a dispute between the Abbot of Westminster and the Bishop of Londonover who had sole control over the church. The Archbishop decided in favor of Westminster so the monks of Westminster Abbey began to use the church for their own personal use. In 1542, Henry VIII rebuilt the church to keep plague victims from the area from having to pass through his Palace of Whitehall. At this time in history, the church isolated between the cities of Westminster and London so it was a good place to keep the plague victims away from the rest of society. In 1606, James granted an acre of land for a new churchyard. The building was enlarged eastwards, increasing the length of the church by about half its original size (McMaster 105). The church was built of brick and covered with stone facings. The roof was tiled and there was now a stone tower with buttresses protruding from the back of the church. The ceiling was slightly arched while the interior was filled with galleries on the north, south, and west sides. In 1720, Parliament passed an act for the rebuilding of the church allowing for a sum of up to 22,000 pounds to be raised to rebuild it (McMaster 50). A temporary church was constructed on the churchyard and partly on the ground for the reformation of the church. The rebuilding commissioners selected ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Concealed under these factors lie environmental destruction as well as a damaged economy. The Locavore Movement has been on the rise due to its nutritional benefits, however, this overshadows the effects of locally grown foodon our environment and economy. Many locavores say that locally grown produce contains more nutrients since they ve been recently picked, unlike supermarkets where the produce has been left in the freezers for weeks. In addition, they also claim that since it takes less distance to travel from farm to plate there is a decreased chance of contamination (Source A). It s accurate to say that most produce grown from local areas are healthier which is why the government plans to place more investments into farmers markets(Source E). Lethal Injections And The Involvement Of Medical Personnel Shella Samonte Kegley Health Science Technology 4th Period 27 September 2015 Lethal Injections and the Involvement of Medical Personnel Death penalty, or capital punishment, is the execution of a person as a punishment for a crime. Throughout history, the death penalty has been a prominent part of society. In ancient Mesopotamia, the death penalty was seen as retribution for certain crimes, and to this day, is now a common practice in the United States. Before, when the United States were still colonies, the death penalty had been carried out by hanging and other various methods but today in the modern age, the Unites States method of execution in most states is lethal injection (Issitt). Unlike previous methods, such as electrocution and the firing squad, the lethal injection is virtually painlessly due to certain drugs being injected into the patient that put the patient to sleep during the process. Due to its medical nature, medical personnel, such as anesthesiologists are needed to administer the drugs, but is it ethical for them to participate in the execution of people? Throughout the process of a lethal injection, there are many drugs inserted into the prisoner. Before the drugs are administered, the prisoner is first brought into a room, that looks very much like a hospital room, with all the medical equipment inside. • 39. Describe The Differences In Terms Of The symbol Systems... a) Describe the similarities and differences in terms of the (1) computational processes and(2) symbol systems between human perception and machines that use deep learning techniques. According to the computational process, human brain and a machines that use deep learning techniques generally have major difference on three levels; (1) at the implementation level, human brain uses neurons as the basic units to process the signals while the computers use transistors as the basic logic gates for all operations on the data. (2) at the algorithmic level, brains use connections such as axons to link the functional components of the brains and activate the corresponding components for different tasks. However, computers use the symbolic representation of the running processes and execute them with the step by step symbolic machine computations. (3) at the computational level, the brains activate all the relevant cells to perform the tasks concurrently with distributed parallel structures while computers generally use operating systems to compute the tasks in a serial manner. Regrading the symbol systems, human brain is a complex physical symbol system with continuous growing abilities. A symbol system consists of patterns called symbols that occur as components of symbol structures called expressions. A symbol structure pattern is composed of a number of symbols which are physically related. At any time, the system will contain a collection of these symbol structures. Besides, the system also contains a collection of processes that operate on expressions to produce other expression, such as processes of creation, modification, reproduction and destruction. The most important properties of these expression patterns are that they can designate objects, processes, or other expression patterns, and when they designate processes, they can be interpreted. Interpretation in this concept means carrying out the designated process. A physical symbol system is hence a machine that produces an evolving collection of symbol structures and designated processes through time. We could claim that the patterns of spikes in human neural system are symbols represented in the brain. The way a human generates spikes is closely related to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Introduction: Regardless of context, positions of leadership and management inevitably come with their share of challenges. In this essay I will examine the challenges of being appointed to improve the poor performance of a team of forty staff working on a HIV project in a developing country. Following the identification of each challenge I will present a series of effective, evidence based solutions. Leadership will be defined as a process of social influence in which one person can enlist the aid and support of others in the accomplishment of a common task (Chemers, 1997) and management will be defined as the process of working with and through other people to accomplish the objectives of both the organization and its members (Montana and Charnox, 2008) It is important to recognise that public health problems are complex and can be vast in magnitude. By nature health affects all populations, and therefore health leadership and management must consider chain reactions into economic and social problems, as well as direct health outcomes. Due to the enormity and complexity of public health leadership and management, this essay aims ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Placed together the pieces show us three varying genres, each from different periods in the twentieth century. Between the artists we also see obvious connections in how they have challenged the spectator, and the art world alike, in viewing their art. All artists removed something , be it a body in Silueta or the purpose of the Bottlerack and Eve s figurative form or vanishing point. All were met with a critique of the processes in which their work were produced and likewise they also received admiration for their forward thinking, progressive art. There is a noticeable difference in the creative processes that have taken place to produce these works. Duchamp, it could be argued, has taken the least time in producing or creating his Bottlerack. • 49. The Removal Of The Screening Current Induced Field This paper presents the details of a recent study on the removal of the screening current induced field (SCIF) in a pancake type noninsulated high temperature superconductor (HTS) coil (NI coil). To determine the SCIF in the NI coil, the magnetic flux density (Bz) was calculated using the equivalent circuit model of the coil and compared to Bz obtained empirically. The experimental results exhibited that the SCIF elimination in the NI coil enhanced upon increasing the amplitude and frequency of the AC current being supplied to the background coil. Moreover, the SCIF in the NI coil could be successfully removed by applying the appropriate intensity of an external AC magnetic field. This is because the magnetization direction of SCIF completely changed from radial to spiral, and the phenomenon is termed the vortex shaking effect. Overall, this study confirmed that the SCIF in a pancake type NI coil can be effectively removed by exposing the coil to an external AC magnetic field. 1. Introduction The second generation (2G) high temperature superconductor (HTS) coated conductor (CC) is regarded as a promising material for the development of ultrahigh field magnets for use in nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) applications.
