Comparing Storm On The Island And The Prelude
Introduction:
Both Seamus Heaney and William Wordsworth convey the power of nature through their poems Storm
on the Island and Extract from, The Prelude . A key point of comparison between these two poems is
that they both present nature as wielding power over man... Nature is presented as powerful or even
more powerful than man itself:
Heaney presents nature to be more powerful than the speaker and the rest of the island s residents.
This is done through Heaney s use of military language. This choice of semantic field gives us the
sense that man and nature are at opposition with one another and by the harsh military verbs it seems
safe to assume that the weather is the dominant force of the two. Arguably, the use of an oxymoron
reaffirms this struggle. To us, the oxymoron does not make sense but it is possible that the irregularity
is intended to reflect the unfair battle that the islanders face. This may show us that the people on the
island have made sense of what goes on even though we struggle to. Again, this demonstrates the
power of nature by making the weather appear to be unable to be matched by man. Nature is presented
as powerful or even more powerful than ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Wordsworth uses simple language in complex sentences to show how he is so in awe of nature that he
struggles to find the words to justify what he is seeing. This is most true following the sighting of the
huge peak . The regression in adjectives and shows us how nature has transformed Wordsworth s
language therefore being presented as powerful for doing so. Perhaps, the metaphorical meaning of
the poem that as humans there are forces greater than us that many, in our proud, self centred state of
mind, do not realise is being revealed to Wordsworth and causing not only a change in language but in
his views of life. This powerful meaning most certainly attributes power to nature. There is a sense of
being within a

It is required to give less impact and weight to Mixon factors relating to form and more to substance,
based on the fact that the transactions were not made at arm s length.
Non exclusive Mixon factors that contributed to the decision:
1. Name given to certificates: Labels on documents conclude that the advances say they are debt, but
labels alone cannot change equity to debt. This factor favors the advances treated as debt, but there is
less weight to this factor because it is based on form rather than substance.
2. Presence or absence of a fixed maturity date: Although fixed maturity dates existed, postponing
maturity suggests a lack of intent to require repayment. This factor supports the treatment of the
advances as equity because the directors did not intend to request repayment and continually extended
the maturity dates, never enforcing them.
3. Source of payments: The petitioners claim liquidity and the ability to pay interest or principal on
amount owed, but conclusive findings show the insufficiency to pay interest or principal balance. This
factor supports the treatment of the advances as equity.
4. Right to enforce payment of principal and interest: While they had the right to enforce, they did not

Nfl Rule Changes
Rule changes in the NFL have been made throughout the history of the league to improve the game,
make it more exciting and reduce the risk of injury. Safety rules are one of the most important and
effective ways in which the NFL and its owners can help protect the health of players. By helping to
identify, promote and enforce safe on field conduct (in concert with off the field education and
policies), the league seeks to preserve both the health of players and the integrity of the game. The
NFL has established a strong set of rules through the years focused on player safety, designed to
promote fair competition while attempting to minimize risk of harm to the player. While many of
these rules have focused on reducing contact to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Pros And Cons Of Political Parties
A Political Party is defined as a formal coalition of interests joined together to get their candidates for
public office elected under a common label and agenda. Political Parties, over time, have seemed to do
more harm than good for our nation. The founders of America never even intended for this nation to
be separated into two different Political Parties. There is nothing which I dread so much as a division
of the republic into two great parties, each arranged under its leader, and concerting measures in
opposition to each other. This, in my humble apprehension, is to be dreaded as the greatest political
evil under our Constitution. John Adams, The Works Of John Adams, Second President Of The United
States. Political Parties were never intended to be an exercised idea in the American government. Our
founding fathers had emphasized their hatred for the division of our republic. All obstructions to the
execution of the laws, all combinations, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The question to behold is, are Political Parties really representing who the American voters are?
People oftentimes express that the people of their own political parties are not really giving a good
image for the people of their own party. Hillary Clinton was supposed to represent the Democratic
party for the 2017 election. With being such an admirable figure any mistake can be taken and a sign
of being a liar, deceptive, and manipulative. Those who support her and her Political Party are
perceived to be a lying, deceptive, manipulator, but that does not mean that her followers are. The
same concept can be applied to Trump, oftentimes he is seen to have no filter, as a racist, and even
sexist as well, and again the same thing can be said about Trump; just because he is viewed as that,
that does not mean that his followers are the same

Driving While Driving And Driving
Driving and Distraction In an age dominated by technology, an individual s cell phone is a very
important device for the function of day to day tasks. Whether driving to the grocery store, driving to
work, or driving to a friends house, chances are you have used your cell phone at least once while
operating a vehicle, but is this dangerous? Simultaneously driving and the use of a cell phone is
deemed illegal in many states under the presumption that it is a distraction to driving. This legislation
is usually preconceived under the notion that the distraction comes from peripheral factors associated
with the use of a cell phone and not the conversation on the cell phone itself. Past research measured
individuals who were using a cell phone prior to an accident, but this questions validity. These
individuals whom used a cell phone before an accident could be prone to more risky behavior on the
road and not due to the use of the cell phone itself. Other research attempted to measure distraction
with phone conversations, but relied on arithmetic, reasoning, and mental tasks, all which are not of a
typical phone conversation. Research conducted in 2001 by Strayer and Johnston aimed to resolve
these issues by measuring the extent in which the use of cell phone by conversation interferes with
driving and the underlying factors for the interference. This research is of utmost importance because
individuals could not only be putting their self at risk when using a cellphone while

Cain Cain s Life Essay
Cain Cain grew up as the very first child in the world. He was the son of Adam and Eve, the
handcrafted creations of God at the beginning of time. Cain grew up with a younger brother named
Abel. He worked as a gardener while Abel was a herdsman. The turning point in Cain s life was
during harvest time when he brought a sacrifice of vegetables to God while his brother brought the
best lamb he had. God accepted Abel s offering but rejected Cain s. This threw Cain into an
uncontrollable rage in which he planned the murder of his brother. Even though God warned Cain to
subdue his evil intentions, Cain murdered his brother. This caused God to curse Cain as an endless
wonderer. Cain s sin was infected into all his descendants to the point of God whipping the slate clean
in a flood only to save Cain s brother s second brother Seth s descendant Noah and his family.
Isaac Isaac was the long anticipated son of Abraham and Sarah. He was the son of the promise in
which God gave to Abraham. However, Isaac was born into a hostile environment because of is half
brother Ishmael. There was great favoritism played between the boys in the family which eventually
Isaac won and Ishmael moved out. Tragically, Isaac s life just about came to an end when his father
obeyed the instructions of the Lord and headed to Mount Moriah to sacrifice him as a burnt offering.
Isaac was not fully aware of the situation and asked where the sacrifice was, which became obvious
when Abraham tied him up and

The Effects Of Plastic Surgery
Plastic surgery in today s medical world
Plastic surgery can be defined as the specialty in the medical field that involves the restoration,
reconstruction, or alteration of the human body. Plastic surgery can be separated into two groups:
reconstructive surgery and cosmetic surgery. The thesis of this essay is to examine these two types of
surgery and to examine the effect that it has on today s medical world, and what causes people to seek
plastic surgery. Reconstructive surgery includes craniofacial surgery, hand surgery, microsurgery, and
the treatment of burns (Garg, 2013). Reconstructive plastic surgery is done to correct functional

2009). Interior motivators consist of the yearning to reduce the unpleasant emotional state of
depression, embarrassment or social anxiety; the wish to modify a specific detested feature; the
longing for a more youthful, strong look that indicates fertility and the hope to generate a strong,
influential appearance that will simplify career progression (Wolfgang et al. 2009).
In the present, a cumulative number of cosmetic surgery procedures are done in doctors agencies and
separate clinical centers and more procedures are being carried out simultaneously (Wolfgang et al.
2009). This increases the risk of rare but potentially fatal infections and anesthetic reactions.
Furthermore, some consultants have not finished the full five years of residency training essential for
certification by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, but validly complete procedures, for which
they might be incompetently trained, purely to supplement their income (Wolfgang et al. 2009).
Complications in plastic surgery do happen. Complications of cosmetic surgery are infrequent, but
include contamination, haemorrhage, fluid and salt disproportion, and hypersensitive and anesthetic
reactions which are occasionally lethal (Chambers, 2009). This alone is a very lucrative business for
doctor s and surgeons, because they have to fix the mistakes that they make, or others has to fix said
mistake.
Furthermore, cosmetic surgery s popularity

The Effects Of Climate Change On The Ocean
The pacific islands are known for being especially beautiful and the image of relaxation; palm trees,
white sand beaches, smiling faces, and crystal blue water. When acknowledging this, it is hard to
imagine that the islands are currently dealing with the changing climate s negative effects. Climate
change is the largest environmental issue currently affecting the earth where humans are referred to as
frogs slowly cooking in a pot.[1] Despite the common knowledge that the earth s atmosphere is
heating to a dangerous level, humanity seems to be adapting to the changes in temperature, much like
a boiling frog would before it is much too late. The same could be said about the Pacific islands in that
they aren t receiving enough help to deal with the increasing heat. Although climate change affects the
earth as a whole, the Pacific Islands are more likely to feel its effects much quicker and are less likely
to be able to deal with them on their own. It is very important to understand the impact it has on the
people and their livelihoods, as well as the physical effects on the islands and their economy.
Being that more developed western countries don t feel the immediate effects of climate change such
as sea level rise and dangerous weather changes, their feelings towards its toll on the Pacific Islands
are not often considered. Despite this, there are organisations dedicated to helping the islands in many
ways including preparations for the future. It is not the help the

Minerva Mirabal was the most heroic of the Mirabal sisters. Rafael Trujillo ruled the Dominican

because they tried to rebel against him. Minerva is heroic because she was the first of her sisters to
join the rebellion, she went to law school, and she slapped the dictator. Minerva was active in the
rebellion against Trujillo. It sounded like treasure hunt clues or something. The Indian from the hill

useless in the end. How cruel! Manolo was furious. I thought he was going to march right up to the
podium and have a word with the rector. Minerva took it best of all of us. She said now she d have
even more time to spend with her family. Something in the way she looked at Manolo when she said

Woman At Point Zero Personification
In the Middle Eastern culture, women held relatively no power during the 19th century and were taken
advantage of in the Arabic culture. El Saadawi struggles to exert her voice and power in society
because she refuses to conform to society s expectations. Nawal El Saadawi exemplifies the motif of
eyes in her novel, Woman at Point Zero. They live in a strictly patriarchal society but Firdaus
challenges this belief through her fervent eye contact. El Saadawi shows this through her fictional
character, Firdaus, who creates an intimate connection between various characters via the motif of
eyes and uncovers the characters true intentions.
The reader s first encounter with eyes is shown through the intimate connection between Firdaus and
her mother. El Saadawi employs an anaphora, They were eyes that watched me... ... Show more

El Saadawi demonstrates personification by giving eyes the ability to die as if they are much more
than just a pair of organs, they have the ability to feel. Firdaus realizes that she never truly experiences
love because all of the people that Firdaus thinks she loved took away the shine in her eyes. She no
longer saw the beauty in people once they broke her. Firdaus saw how people, like Ibrahim used for
alternative purposes and that mentally killed her. El Saadawi could no longer give herself to love
because she refuses to feel any emotion, as though something had closed up inside (El Saadawi 83).
Firdaus never gets to experience real love and she knows that. El Saadawi demonstrates how men
chase materialistic desires over everything. The social status of Egyptian men was highly dependent
on their occupation, Ibrahim prioritizes his social status over his emotional connection with Firdaus
because society forces Ibrahim to believe that his value is only surface

Social Psychology Experiments To Engage In Prosocial...
Introduction
In our everyday lives, we experience the act of helping or being helped by others.
It is a behavior where we provide assistance or benefit a person, without receiving anything in return.
Helping behavior calls for one to put our needs aside in order to assure the well being of one person at
the cost of our own. Social psychology experiments have provided research that has established
important principles about the conditions under which individuals will choose to engage in prosocial
bystander behaviors (Science of Generosity). We chose this social psychology concept because we
wanted to evaluate what factors contributed to whether someone helped another person or not. It is
interesting how as humans, it takes certain factors ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When other people were surrounding the participant that noticed the dollar bill on the floor, they
would wait until they were gone to pick it up and keep it for themselves. Gender was also a part of this
experiment because when the girl students dropped it some people would go up and ask if they had
dropped their money, but when the boy dropped it they would look around, but eventually keep it.
People will usually help a female out instead of a male, that is a social norm that we also tested in this
experiment. Our results did vary in different conditions because we went to the store late at night and
if we would have gone earlier in the day there would have been more people and our results would
have been different. More people would have noticed the money and that means that our results would
have been significantly different. We worked with what we had and we took notes on the results and

Japanese Internment Camps Discrimination
The Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbor in 1941 sparked war with the United States and spread fear
that Japanese Americans would aid Japan during World War II. This is a quote from an article that
shared both opinions on the Japanese American internment camps. The first This provoked fear in the
American people, causing them to remove 110,000 Japanese Americans from the west coast of the
United States and forcing them to live in internment camps. In my opinion I believe that it was a
unconstitutional and racist action that the Americans took.
The first reason that I believe that the internment camps were unnecessary is they were a racist act
against the Japanese Americans. In the article it states Our unjust imprisonment was the result of two
closely related emotions: racism and hysteria, says Edison Tominaro Uno, a former internee.Uno says

Though I do believe that it was a racist act I can understand why America would take precautions to

What is the Good Life Essay A popular saying is live life in the moment. People believe that by doing
this, they will live life to their fullest potential, and this will lead to the good life. This is a good
theory, but it is not actually a good idea to life live this way. This is shown by both Herodotus, The
History the story of Solon and Croesus, and by the Mike Webster Sports Injury series by Greg Garber.
In both of the texts, the fictional Croesus, and the real life Mike Webster both lived their lives in the
moment, and they actually provide the most significant horrible warnings to show what is not the good
life. By living in the moment, neither of these two actually thought about the future while they were
living their good lives. If they had thought about the future, and the repercussions that could happen if
their way of life was ended, then they may have been able to avoid the inevitable fall that both of them
faced. Webster and Croesus both lived the good life for a time, and through both of their stories, we
can see that to truly have lived the good life, one must die living it.
While both Webster and Croesus undergo very similar crucibles, there are a few distinct differences
between the texts that complement each other, so by understanding one of the texts more clearly, the
other can be better understood, which in turn, leads to a better understanding of the good life. One of
the main differences

The Turn Of The Screw Analysis
The Turn of the Screw is one of the most controversial works in literature and the text has provoked a
variety of critical interpretations from its publication in 1898. In this novel, the governess tells her
experience with two apparitions that no one but she could see. And the governess accuses the ghosts
of servants for corrupting the children, Miles and Flora. Critics concerning about the truth of the story
are divided two basic camps based on their acceptance or rejection of the governess s credibility as a
storyteller. Some critics believe that the ghosts are real and the governess is a rational and credible
narrator, while the others believe that the ghosts are hallucinations of the governess and regard the
governess as an incredible and mentally abnormal narrator. Also, we could speculate the author s
intention on the basis of his life experience and other works of Henry James. This essay will examine
the reliability of the governess on the basis of the text and interpret Henry James s intention on the
basis of other sources. The critics from psychanalytic perspective claim that the existence of ghosts is
the governess s hysterical delusion. The ghost is the projection of governess s own sexual hysteria,
which resulted from the conflict between native romantic impulses and idealistic innocence required
by Victorian society (Renner). The inexperienced governess encounters the handsome, bold, young
gentleman with charming ways with women (James, 4) and she

Death of a Salesman vs. Tragedy and the Common Man
It makes little sense that tragedy should only pertain to those in high ranks. As explained in his essay
Tragedy and the Common Man, Arthur Miller establishes the pattern for his own notion of a tragedy
and the consequent ramifications for the tragic hero. This pattern supports the central idea that a
tragedy can occur for characters who are common men as well as those in high places. Throughout his
paper, Miller demonstrates that it should be possible for every reader to be able to identify with the
tragic hero. Miller redefines tragedy as more common occurrence than what might happen in tragedies
such as portrayed by Shakespeare and other classical writers, thus defining Death of a Salesman as a
tragedy.
Willy Loman is a tragic hero. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Willy, like traditional tragic heroes, possesses a tragic flaw. The possibility of victory must be there in
tragedy (Miller, Tragedy and the Common Man ). Setting aside Willy s tragic flaw, there is also a
certain amount of hope and optimism that Willy might change. If there is a possibility of bringing an
element of hope into this play, there is also a conceivable possibility of change. Change is the
compelling force without which there would be no hope. And with change comes a reasonable
possibility of victory. Throughout this entire play, Willy lives by the credo be well liked. Someday I ll
have my own business, and I ll never have to leave home any more... bigger that Uncle Charley!
Because Charley is not liked. He s liked, but he s not well liked (Miller, Death of a Salesman 30)
Willy finds this untrue as he increasingly makes less and less money on business trips. Howard, and
now I can t even pay my insurance! You can t eat the orange and throw away the peel! A man is not a
piece of fruit (Miller, Death of a Salesman 82) Willy, however, refuses to change his view of the world
and therefore is destined to continue his struggle upstream.
What makes this play tragic for me, though, is that Willy does not change. It is sadly his tragic flaw
that brings about this failure. His unwillingness to submit passively to the established order and values
is his demise. He has a set idea in his mind about how he wants to be and

Edna Ferber, Jewish American Feminist Essay
Edna Ferber s childhood and career influences many of her works. She was born in 1885 and died in
1968. Growing up, she was taunted for being Jewish. Her family moved a great deal, so she was able
to see a lot of the country. She eventually landed a job as a reporter, but faced a lot of criticism at the
workplace for being a woman. When asked about her role model, Edna Ferber said, My mother is of
the iron age when things were not handed to people on velvet pads of ease She had a zest for life and
the ability to impart it on others. Her belief in the eternity of life has a nourishing effect on her and all

Since she spent most of her life being taunted for being Jewish, this is to be expected. She frequently
shows Jews to be smart, attractive, and/or successful. She mentions the mistreatment of Jews in nearly
all of her novels. In Cimarron, the town Jew was running for mayor. But the wife of the other
candidate gave a speech about the race where she declared, ?A Jew for mayor of Osage! They?ll be
having an Indian mayor next. Mr. Wyatt?s folks are real Americans? (Ferber 218).
She writes about the mistreatment of Native Americans to a great extent in Cimarron. Sabra?s son was
particularly fond of them and when arguing with his mother?s family said, ?Indians don?t fight white
men anymore. They can?t. Their, uh, spirit is broken. they only fought in the first place because the
white men took their buff?loes away from them, that they lived on and ate and traded the skins and
that was all the had, and their land away from them? (Ferber 150). All of her novels are read as a

Essay On Nanowires
Abstract This paper provides an overview of the ongoing developments and research efforts on
nanowires. It is a brief survey of the types of materials used and the applications associated with
nanowire research. It is a method combining laser ablation, cluster formation and vapour liquid solid
growth
(VLS). In this process, laser ablation was used to prepare nanometer diameter catalyst clusters that
define the size of wires produced by VLS growth. This approach was used to prepare bulk quantities
of uniform single crystal silicon and germanium nanowires with diameters of 6 20 and 3 9 nm. Studies
carried out with different conditions and catalyst materials confirmed the central detail of the growth
mechanisms and suggests that face ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

II. NANOWIRE SYNTHESIS
Many of the papers included in this survey concentrated on methods or materials used to synthesize
nanowires. Most nanowire synthesis occurs via Vapor Liquid Solid (VLS) processes. VLS processes
use a liquid catalyst to draw components out of a vapor phase and deposit them in a solid phase. While
terms such as laser ablation and chemical vapor deposition may often be used to describe the synthesis
technique used in a particular experiment, this commonly refers only to the means by which the vapor
phase is produced or transported. For example, laser ablation uses a laser to vaporize a source
material, forming the vapor phase that is absorbed and later deposited by the catalyst droplet as the
nanowire grows.
Silicon nanowires often are synthesized through VLS processes [1 3]. Specifically, a substrate is
coated with gold nanoparticles and then heated until the gold melts and forms tiny droplets. A silicon
containing vapor, typically silane, or
SiH4, is then passed over the substrate. At the vapor gold interface, silicon atoms are stripped from the
silane and are absorbed into the nanoparticles. When the saturation limit of silicon in gold has been
reached, the silicon precipitates out of the droplet onto the substrate.
This precipitate builds up and lifts the catalyst away from the substrate, giving

Psychoanalysis And Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Psychoanalysis Psychoanalysis is based on psychoanalytic theory postulated by the renowned
Viennese neurologist Sigmund Freud between the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, and
has been reactualizándose. A little too summarizes our psyche conceived as dynamic consists of a
conscious and an unconscious part. This theory postulates that, many times, which does not allow us
to live peacefully past traumas are hidden in the unconscious, and that we must make conscious to
overcome. It is the famous couch therapy, introspection, free association. It asks the patient to say
everything you think omitting the smallest detail, however insignificant or ridiculous it may seem,
because everything has a meaning, even dreams. Thus a reconstruction of what experienced from early
childhood, because this perspective puts much emphasis on the influence of this stage in our present
emotional well done. This causes a type of therapy is quite extensive in time. Humanistic therapy ...

Cognitive behavioral therapy From a cognitive behavioral perspective is known that to solve a
problem to have to change certain behaviors, are in a very broad sense, considering each other s
thoughts, feelings and emotions. Cognitive behavioral therapy has two parts, one is the thinking about
the problem. It is the responsibility of the patient to fully contribute to defining the problem that is just
what is concerned and takes you to see. Once the vision that the patient has his problem under the
guidance of your therapist established a functional analysis of the problem, enunciating in operational
and modifiable terms is performed. Thus securing the goals of therapy and treatment begins. This is
the establishment of a program to modify behaviors, thoughts and feelings relevant to the maintenance
problem. This type of therapy seems to know how to manage anxiety, as has solved problems such as
phobias, obsessions and other associated

Restorative Justice And Justice System
Restorative justice has some key restorative values that are vital in the restorative justice conference to
make the experience restorative . Concerning addressing victim needs and concerns means for
listening, respecting, being non judgmental, not blaming the victim and apologizing. The RJ system
was bought as an alternative to the criminal justice system to give greater emphasis on victim rights
and needs, offender accountability and community involvement. Throughout the essay, there will be
an insight into how Restorative Justice addresses needs of victims in terms of the different proponents
such as Information provided to victim, restitution/compensation, emotional and practical needs met,
participation and involvement of victim and protection of victim, which (Wemmers and Marisa, 2002)
as essentials to victims participating in the practice. The two countries that will be addressed will have
had restorative justice built out of injustices and over representation of the current criminal justice
system to the indigenous peoples of those countries.
The traditional criminal justice system is criticized for its neglect of victim importance and needs, for
example (Symonds, 1980) acknowledges, that the criminal justice system is concerned about looking
back at the event rather than focusing on how to rehabilitate and as a consequence making victims be
in a secondary victimization effect. This is the attitudes, behaviors and the beliefs of the people in the

Technology And Its Effect On Society
Technology is the sum of the ways in which social groups provide themselves with the material
objects of their civilization. ( Technology ) In addition, technology has become a basic necessity for
people all around the world. Not only does technology have positive effects on how people function in
the world, but it also has many negative effects. On a similar topic, technology has improved the way
we live tremendously, but people have become extremely dependent on it, almost to the point to where
they could not live without it. The book The Machine Stops could be accurately compared to the way
people around the world live their lives. For example, In The Machine Stops their society became so
dependent on technology, that when technology died, the people died along with it. While the
civilization society described in The Machine Stops and the civilization society today can be
compared through a discussion of the technology to each communication, entertainment,
transportation, and daily life, both civilizations share the potential danger of technology controlled.
The first major way people depend on technology is through communication. In The Machine Stops
no one ever came in contact with anyone else. An example as to how they were able to do this is
through video chat. People in The Machine Stops only communicated with one another through video
chat much like how people living in today s world use FaceTime. FaceTime allows people to talk face
to face through a

The Pros And Cons Of The Workplace Relations Act
The former procedures for seeking redress in workplace conflicts were long, expensive and rather
frustrating. One had to seek redress with multiple Courts arising from the same set of facts and the
appeal system was equally as frustrating. Therefore, the Workplace Relations Act 2015 has been a
welcome development albeit with its advantages and disadvantages and the process has been
shortened and simplified to make it less expensive for both sides to pursue. Multiple claims no longer
have to go to different Courts for redress as all employment rights disputes will go straight to the
Workplace Relations Commission based on the same set of facts and in the event that mediation fails,
the matter is dealt with by an Adjudication Officer. Sending ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

A Search for Hope
Famous English poet and playwright William Shakespeare uses hope in King Richard III as True hope
is swift, and flies with swallow s wings: Kings it makes gods, and meaner creatures kings
(Shakespeare). Shakespeare likens hope to wings that elevate people during its existence, a power
which strengthens people. During my research different sources, from academic writings to visual
sources, discussed how the result of an aim is affected by hope . The results that I gained from my
research have shown that people can t achieve their dreams in the lack of hope. Hope is the
irreplaceable element of success.
The dictionary gives a basic meaning of hope, but the explanation of the word is deficient. The Oxford
dictionary, an online dictionary which is created by The Oxford University, defines hope as to want
something to happen and think that is possible (Hope). The denotation by The Oxford dictionary
vitiates the true meaning of the word hope . To want something to happen (Hope) can be the
explanation of require/desire, however, simplifying hope like that would be ignoring the effects of
hope which are beyond desiring. After the requirement, having hope for the aim would help in the
process of achieving. Defining second part of hope as to think something is possible (Hope) would be
insufficient because hope can make people believe and attach themselves to their aim even though in
the situations which are called impossible. With this belief, hope can make people

British Colonization
The main notable development that the British Empire brought to India during their colonisation was
the railways, otherwise known as Railroads of the Raj . First proposed in 1846 by Thomas
Williamson, the revenue commissioner of Bombay, who stated that Commercially, it would be best for
the cotton of Berar while also allowing an immediate direction of the military stations (Williamson,
1846). Through this it is clear that the main objective for the railways was for development
commercially and for quicker and faster links to and for the military. In 1850 the production began
and by 1900 there was over 24,000 miles of railway tracks that had been laid (Kerr 1997). The
development of the railways gave the impression that it was going to largely benefit India, and mainly
India s economy, by increasing trade and transportation, almost bringing India into an age of an
Industrial Revolution, just as the railways had done for Britain in the 1800 s. However, this particular
introduction made by the British to India proved detrimental to their economy. The railway project
was enormous and was funded entirely by British private investment capitals (Satya 2008). These
private companies operated their railway lines with a guaranteed 5% return on their investment which
was assured by the Indian revenues of the empire (Satya 2008). This was one of the biggest reasons
why the railways caused a decline in India s economy. This guarantee system promised that even if the
companies

A Small Place By Christopher Columbus
Colonization was used as early as the 18th century to expand a particular country s territory.
Essentially it supposed to be a positive thing, expanding the territory s resources such as medicine,
and education. Jamaica Kincaid, however, plead the opposite. In her book, A Small Place, she
expounded on the after effects of colonialism on her small island, Antigua. The Island, discovered by
Christopher Columbus, is only nine by twelve miles long, surrounded by the Caribbean Sea and the
Atlantic Ocean (Kincaid, 80), which has swallowed up a number of black slaves (Kincaid, 14).
Jamaica Kincaid, described the slave owner (Europeans) as Human rubbish, who took noble and
exalted human beings from Africa to enslave them (80). She ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Kincaid believes that the slave like structure of the government was led by colonialism. She expressed
her anger toward the colonists for colonizing the small island, turning it into England and turning
everyone they met into English (24). She writes, Have you ever wonder to yourself why it is that all
people like me seem to have learned from you is how to imprison and murder each other, how to
govern badly...? Have you ever wondered why it is that all we seem to have learned from you is how
to corrupt our societies and how to be tyrants (Kincaid, 34)? Kincaid wanted the colonist to realize it
is by their own faults and their imperfections that Antigua is in the state that is in now. Kincaid also
believed that colonialism caused the political corruption that has defrauded Antigua of many rights,
such as the right to knowledge. She believed that the Ministers of Antigua gained knowledge to
govern from the Ill mannered British who paved the way for them (34). Throughout her book she has
made it very clear that the library is an important source of knowledge for her as it should be for other
Antiguan s as well. She reminisced on her childhoods experiences at the library as her own sacred
place, a cool retreat from the colonized world and an opening to the greater world away from the
island (Byerman, 94). On page 48, we found out that St. John, the largest city and capital in Antigua,

The One with Phoebe s Husband, the friends find out that Phoebe is married when her husband,
Duncan, stops by Rachel s apartment to give her flowers. Phoebe tells them that she isn t really
married: Duncan was a gay friend from Canada who needed a green card to pursue his ice dancing
career. She didn t tell her friends that she married him because she d had a crush on him in college,
and she knew that they wouldn t approve. She watches him skate in The Ice Capades at Madison
Square Garden, and after the show goes to see him in his dressing room. He tells her that he needs a
divorce because he s actually straight and wants to get married to a different woman. He only thought
he was gay because it meant he would fit in with the other ice dancers. The scene is played as a
straight coming out story, using the tropes of a typical Hollywood LBGT coming out storyline for
comedy. Phoebe is shocked and upset by the revelation of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

quickest way for her maid, Rosario, an illegal alien from El Salvador, to be able to stay in America
would be through marriage. Jack, a gay man and Karen s best friend, agrees to marry Rosario for

ACTIVITY 1
What is Leadership?
Leadership may be considered as the process (act) of influencing the activities of an organized group
in its efforts toward goal setting and goal achievement. (Stogdill, 1950: 3)
Leaders set a direction for us all by giving a vision .leaders inspire and encourage. Without leaderships
a group of individuals would degenerates into argument and conflict, because we see things in
different ways and lean towards different solutions. Leadership helps to point us in the same direction
and harness our efforts jointly. (Mills, 2005)

Difference Between Marketing Strategies of Physical and...
Slide One: The potential impact, in marketing terms, of the e business unit on the bricks and mortar
university is enormous. Oblinger (2001) has argued that, for a number of reasons, distance learning
has the potential to develop a truly global university. The exchanges between the business and the
customer are streamlined by the lack of physical barriers, and this can allow the school to transcend
international borders. The current physical school can only market within the United States, and must
bring students to the school physically. This limits the growth potential of the school. In contrast, the e
business element allows for marketing all around the world. The school can develop curriculum for a
number of different countries in order to build local businesses, all through the centralized website. In
addition, the school can train professionals all around the world for careers in the US, Canada, the UK
or other nations. This broadens the pool of potential health care practitioners considerably, something
that benefits all Western nations, most of which face a shortage of qualified health care workers. The
school will adhere to high level standards, so that its degrees are widely recognized. There will also
need to be policies in place that facilitate the learning of students from all over the world, so that the
environment is healthy and supportive for all.
On a practical level, the school can facilitate real time learning by developing features and
mechanisms that

  • 2. Comparing Storm On The Island And The Prelude Introduction: Both Seamus Heaney and William Wordsworth convey the power of nature through their poems Storm on the Island and Extract from, The Prelude . A key point of comparison between these two poems is that they both present nature as wielding power over man... Nature is presented as powerful or even more powerful than man itself: Heaney presents nature to be more powerful than the speaker and the rest of the island s residents. This is done through Heaney s use of military language. This choice of semantic field gives us the sense that man and nature are at opposition with one another and by the harsh military verbs it seems safe to assume that the weather is the dominant force of the two. Arguably, the use of an oxymoron reaffirms this struggle. To us, the oxymoron does not make sense but it is possible that the irregularity is intended to reflect the unfair battle that the islanders face. This may show us that the people on the island have made sense of what goes on even though we struggle to. Again, this demonstrates the power of nature by making the weather appear to be unable to be matched by man. Nature is presented as powerful or even more powerful than ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Wordsworth uses simple language in complex sentences to show how he is so in awe of nature that he struggles to find the words to justify what he is seeing. This is most true following the sighting of the huge peak . The regression in adjectives and shows us how nature has transformed Wordsworth s language therefore being presented as powerful for doing so. Perhaps, the metaphorical meaning of the poem that as humans there are forces greater than us that many, in our proud, self centred state of mind, do not realise is being revealed to Wordsworth and causing not only a change in language but in his views of life. This powerful meaning most certainly attributes power to nature. There is a sense of being within a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is required to give less impact and weight to Mixon factors relating to form and more to substance, based on the fact that the transactions were not made at arm s length. Non exclusive Mixon factors that contributed to the decision: 1. Name given to certificates: Labels on documents conclude that the advances say they are debt, but labels alone cannot change equity to debt. This factor favors the advances treated as debt, but there is less weight to this factor because it is based on form rather than substance. 2. Presence or absence of a fixed maturity date: Although fixed maturity dates existed, postponing maturity suggests a lack of intent to require repayment. This factor supports the treatment of the advances as equity because the directors did not intend to request repayment and continually extended the maturity dates, never enforcing them. 3. Source of payments: The petitioners claim liquidity and the ability to pay interest or principal on amount owed, but conclusive findings show the insufficiency to pay interest or principal balance. This factor supports the treatment of the advances as equity. 4. Right to enforce payment of principal and interest: While they had the right to enforce, they did not ... Safety rules are one of the most important and effective ways in which the NFL and its owners can help protect the health of players. By helping to identify, promote and enforce safe on field conduct (in concert with off the field education and policies), the league seeks to preserve both the health of players and the integrity of the game. The NFL has established a strong set of rules through the years focused on player safety, designed to promote fair competition while attempting to minimize risk of harm to the player. • 5. Pros And Cons Of Political Parties A Political Party is defined as a formal coalition of interests joined together to get their candidates for public office elected under a common label and agenda. Political Parties, over time, have seemed to do more harm than good for our nation. The founders of America never even intended for this nation to be separated into two different Political Parties. There is nothing which I dread so much as a division of the republic into two great parties, each arranged under its leader, and concerting measures in opposition to each other. This, in my humble apprehension, is to be dreaded as the greatest political evil under our Constitution. John Adams, The Works Of John Adams, Second President Of The United States. With being such an admirable figure any mistake can be taken and a sign of being a liar, deceptive, and manipulative. Those who support her and her Political Party are perceived to be a lying, deceptive, manipulator, but that does not mean that her followers are. • 6. Driving While Driving And Driving Driving and Distraction In an age dominated by technology, an individual s cell phone is a very important device for the function of day to day tasks. Whether driving to the grocery store, driving to work, or driving to a friends house, chances are you have used your cell phone at least once while operating a vehicle, but is this dangerous? Simultaneously driving and the use of a cell phone is deemed illegal in many states under the presumption that it is a distraction to driving. This legislation is usually preconceived under the notion that the distraction comes from peripheral factors associated with the use of a cell phone and not the conversation on the cell phone itself. Past research measured individuals who were using a cell phone prior to an accident, but this questions validity. These individuals whom used a cell phone before an accident could be prone to more risky behavior on the road and not due to the use of the cell phone itself. Other research attempted to measure distraction with phone conversations, but relied on arithmetic, reasoning, and mental tasks, all which are not of a typical phone conversation. Research conducted in 2001 by Strayer and Johnston aimed to resolve these issues by measuring the extent in which the use of cell phone by conversation interferes with driving and the underlying factors for the interference. This research is of utmost importance because individuals could not only be putting their self at risk when using a cellphone while ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Cain Cain s Life Essay Cain Cain grew up as the very first child in the world. He was the son of Adam and Eve, the handcrafted creations of God at the beginning of time. Cain grew up with a younger brother named Abel. He worked as a gardener while Abel was a herdsman. The turning point in Cain s life was during harvest time when he brought a sacrifice of vegetables to God while his brother brought the best lamb he had. God accepted Abel s offering but rejected Cain s. This threw Cain into an uncontrollable rage in which he planned the murder of his brother. Even though God warned Cain to subdue his evil intentions, Cain murdered his brother. This caused God to curse Cain as an endless wonderer. Cain s sin was infected into all his descendants to the point of God whipping the slate clean in a flood only to save Cain s brother s second brother Seth s descendant Noah and his family. Isaac Isaac was the long anticipated son of Abraham and Sarah. He was the son of the promise in which God gave to Abraham. However, Isaac was born into a hostile environment because of is half brother Ishmael. There was great favoritism played between the boys in the family which eventually Isaac won and Ishmael moved out. Tragically, Isaac s life just about came to an end when his father obeyed the instructions of the Lord and headed to Mount Moriah to sacrifice him as a burnt offering. The Effects Of Plastic Surgery Plastic surgery in today s medical world Plastic surgery can be defined as the specialty in the medical field that involves the restoration, reconstruction, or alteration of the human body. Plastic surgery can be separated into two groups: reconstructive surgery and cosmetic surgery. The thesis of this essay is to examine these two types of surgery and to examine the effect that it has on today s medical world, and what causes people to seek plastic surgery. Reconstructive surgery includes craniofacial surgery, hand surgery, microsurgery, and the treatment of burns (Garg, 2013). Interior motivators consist of the yearning to reduce the unpleasant emotional state of depression, embarrassment or social anxiety; the wish to modify a specific detested feature; the longing for a more youthful, strong look that indicates fertility and the hope to generate a strong, influential appearance that will simplify career progression (Wolfgang et al. 2009). In the present, a cumulative number of cosmetic surgery procedures are done in doctors agencies and separate clinical centers and more procedures are being carried out simultaneously (Wolfgang et al. 2009). This increases the risk of rare but potentially fatal infections and anesthetic reactions. Furthermore, some consultants have not finished the full five years of residency training essential for certification by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, but validly complete procedures, for which they might be incompetently trained, purely to supplement their income (Wolfgang et al. 2009). Complications in plastic surgery do happen. Complications of cosmetic surgery are infrequent, but include contamination, haemorrhage, fluid and salt disproportion, and hypersensitive and anesthetic reactions which are occasionally lethal (Chambers, 2009). • 9. The Effects Of Climate Change On The Ocean The pacific islands are known for being especially beautiful and the image of relaxation; palm trees, white sand beaches, smiling faces, and crystal blue water. When acknowledging this, it is hard to imagine that the islands are currently dealing with the changing climate s negative effects. Climate change is the largest environmental issue currently affecting the earth where humans are referred to as frogs slowly cooking in a pot.[1] Despite the common knowledge that the earth s atmosphere is heating to a dangerous level, humanity seems to be adapting to the changes in temperature, much like a boiling frog would before it is much too late. The same could be said about the Pacific islands in that they aren t receiving enough help to deal with the increasing heat. Although climate change affects the earth as a whole, the Pacific Islands are more likely to feel its effects much quicker and are less likely to be able to deal with them on their own. It is very important to understand the impact it has on the people and their livelihoods, as well as the physical effects on the islands and their economy. Being that more developed western countries don t feel the immediate effects of climate change such as sea level rise and dangerous weather changes, their feelings towards its toll on the Pacific Islands are not often considered. Despite this, there are organisations dedicated to helping the islands in many ways including preparations for the future. It is not the help the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

El Saadawi struggles to exert her voice and power in society because she refuses to conform to society s expectations. Nawal El Saadawi exemplifies the motif of eyes in her novel, Woman at Point Zero. They live in a strictly patriarchal society but Firdaus challenges this belief through her fervent eye contact. El Saadawi shows this through her fictional character, Firdaus, who creates an intimate connection between various characters via the motif of eyes and uncovers the characters true intentions. • 12. Social Psychology Experiments To Engage In Prosocial... Introduction In our everyday lives, we experience the act of helping or being helped by others. It is a behavior where we provide assistance or benefit a person, without receiving anything in return. Helping behavior calls for one to put our needs aside in order to assure the well being of one person at the cost of our own. Social psychology experiments have provided research that has established important principles about the conditions under which individuals will choose to engage in prosocial bystander behaviors (Science of Generosity). We chose this social psychology concept because we wanted to evaluate what factors contributed to whether someone helped another person or not. The first reason that I believe that the internment camps were unnecessary is they were a racist act against the Japanese Americans. • 16. The Controversy Of Textbook And Chameleon By William Penn 4b. There are several lies that are traditionally taught to American students about this subject. Textbooks include a portrait of full dressed Europeans with half naked Native Americans in the 1771 treaty by William Penn. This is a lie because textbook authors are trying to get away with saying that the Europeans were civilized and that the Indians were primitive. This is because of their eurocentrism that does not fool those who think a little deeper because Penn would have either died from heat exhaustion in August if that is when he made this treaty, but if he made it after Thanksgiving, the Indians would be suffering from frostbite. Either way, it is clear that this portrait included in textbooks is misleading and inaccurate. Textbook ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 17. Story Of Solon And Mike Webster Sports Injury Series By... Garett Miller IUF 1000 section 234H Pokhrel 27 October, 2015 What is the Good Life Essay A popular saying is live life in the moment. People believe that by doing this, they will live life to their fullest potential, and this will lead to the good life. This is a good theory, but it is not actually a good idea to life live this way. This is shown by both Herodotus, The History the story of Solon and Croesus, and by the Mike Webster Sports Injury series by Greg Garber. In both of the texts, the fictional Croesus, and the real life Mike Webster both lived their lives in the moment, and they actually provide the most significant horrible warnings to show what is not the good life. By living in the moment, neither of these two actually thought about the future while they were living their good lives. If they had thought about the future, and the repercussions that could happen if their way of life was ended, then they may have been able to avoid the inevitable fall that both of them faced. Webster and Croesus both lived the good life for a time, and through both of their stories, we can see that to truly have lived the good life, one must die living it. While both Webster and Croesus undergo very similar crucibles, there are a few distinct differences between the texts that complement each other, so by understanding one of the texts more clearly, the other can be better understood, which in turn, leads to a better understanding of the good life. One of the main differences ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 18. The Turn Of The Screw Analysis The Turn of the Screw is one of the most controversial works in literature and the text has provoked a variety of critical interpretations from its publication in 1898. In this novel, the governess tells her experience with two apparitions that no one but she could see. And the governess accuses the ghosts of servants for corrupting the children, Miles and Flora. Critics concerning about the truth of the story are divided two basic camps based on their acceptance or rejection of the governess s credibility as a storyteller. Some critics believe that the ghosts are real and the governess is a rational and credible narrator, while the others believe that the ghosts are hallucinations of the governess and regard the governess as an incredible and mentally abnormal narrator. Also, we could speculate the author s intention on the basis of his life experience and other works of Henry James. This essay will examine the reliability of the governess on the basis of the text and interpret Henry James s intention on the basis of other sources. The critics from psychanalytic perspective claim that the existence of ghosts is the governess s hysterical delusion. The ghost is the projection of governess s own sexual hysteria, which resulted from the conflict between native romantic impulses and idealistic innocence required by Victorian society (Renner). The inexperienced governess encounters the handsome, bold, young gentleman with charming ways with women (James, 4) and she ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 19. Death of a Salesman vs. Tragedy and the Common Man It makes little sense that tragedy should only pertain to those in high ranks. As explained in his essay Tragedy and the Common Man, Arthur Miller establishes the pattern for his own notion of a tragedy and the consequent ramifications for the tragic hero. This pattern supports the central idea that a tragedy can occur for characters who are common men as well as those in high places. Throughout his paper, Miller demonstrates that it should be possible for every reader to be able to identify with the tragic hero. Miller redefines tragedy as more common occurrence than what might happen in tragedies such as portrayed by Shakespeare and other classical writers, thus defining Death of a Salesman as a tragedy. Willy Loman is a tragic hero. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Willy, like traditional tragic heroes, possesses a tragic flaw. The possibility of victory must be there in tragedy (Miller, Tragedy and the Common Man ). Setting aside Willy s tragic flaw, there is also a certain amount of hope and optimism that Willy might change. If there is a possibility of bringing an element of hope into this play, there is also a conceivable possibility of change. Change is the compelling force without which there would be no hope. And with change comes a reasonable possibility of victory. Throughout this entire play, Willy lives by the credo be well liked. Someday I ll have my own business, and I ll never have to leave home any more... bigger that Uncle Charley! Because Charley is not liked. He s liked, but he s not well liked (Miller, Death of a Salesman 30) Willy finds this untrue as he increasingly makes less and less money on business trips. Howard, and now I can t even pay my insurance! You can t eat the orange and throw away the peel! A man is not a piece of fruit (Miller, Death of a Salesman 82) Willy, however, refuses to change his view of the world and therefore is destined to continue his struggle upstream. Growing up, she was taunted for being Jewish. Her family moved a great deal, so she was able to see a lot of the country. She eventually landed a job as a reporter, but faced a lot of criticism at the workplace for being a woman. When asked about her role model, Edna Ferber said, My mother is of the iron age when things were not handed to people on velvet pads of ease She had a zest for life and the ability to impart it on others. She frequently shows Jews to be smart, attractive, and/or successful. She mentions the mistreatment of Jews in nearly all of her novels. In Cimarron, the town Jew was running for mayor. But the wife of the other candidate gave a speech about the race where she declared, ?A Jew for mayor of Osage! They?ll be having an Indian mayor next. Mr. Wyatt?s folks are real Americans? (Ferber 218). She writes about the mistreatment of Native Americans to a great extent in Cimarron. Sabra?s son was particularly fond of them and when arguing with his mother?s family said, ?Indians don?t fight white men anymore. They can?t. Their, uh, spirit is broken. they only fought in the first place because the white men took their buff?loes away from them, that they lived on and ate and traded the skins and that was all the had, and their land away from them? (Ferber 150). All of her novels are read as a celebration of Americana, when she is actually writing about unfair treatment of the underdog, such as the Jew, the Negro, the Indian, or the strength of the American woman, who would persevere and survive alone even when the man in her life deserted her. It is a brief survey of the types of materials used and the applications associated with nanowire research. It is a method combining laser ablation, cluster formation and vapour liquid solid growth (VLS). In this process, laser ablation was used to prepare nanometer diameter catalyst clusters that define the size of wires produced by VLS growth. This approach was used to prepare bulk quantities of uniform single crystal silicon and germanium nanowires with diameters of 6 20 and 3 9 nm. NANOWIRE SYNTHESIS Many of the papers included in this survey concentrated on methods or materials used to synthesize nanowires. Most nanowire synthesis occurs via Vapor Liquid Solid (VLS) processes. VLS processes use a liquid catalyst to draw components out of a vapor phase and deposit them in a solid phase. While terms such as laser ablation and chemical vapor deposition may often be used to describe the synthesis technique used in a particular experiment, this commonly refers only to the means by which the vapor phase is produced or transported. For example, laser ablation uses a laser to vaporize a source material, forming the vapor phase that is absorbed and later deposited by the catalyst droplet as the nanowire grows. Silicon nanowires often are synthesized through VLS processes [1 3]. Specifically, a substrate is coated with gold nanoparticles and then heated until the gold melts and forms tiny droplets. A silicon containing vapor, typically silane, or SiH4, is then passed over the substrate. At the vapor gold interface, silicon atoms are stripped from the silane and are absorbed into the nanoparticles. When the saturation limit of silicon in gold has been reached, the silicon precipitates out of the droplet onto the substrate. This precipitate builds up and lifts the catalyst away from the substrate, giving ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

On a similar topic, technology has improved the way we live tremendously, but people have become extremely dependent on it, almost to the point to where they could not live without it. The book The Machine Stops could be accurately compared to the way people around the world live their lives. For example, In The Machine Stops their society became so dependent on technology, that when technology died, the people died along with it. While the civilization society described in The Machine Stops and the civilization society today can be compared through a discussion of the technology to each communication, entertainment, transportation, and daily life, both civilizations share the potential danger of technology controlled. The first major way people depend on technology is through communication. In The Machine Stops no one ever came in contact with anyone else. A Search for Hope Famous English poet and playwright William Shakespeare uses hope in King Richard III as True hope is swift, and flies with swallow s wings: Kings it makes gods, and meaner creatures kings (Shakespeare). Shakespeare likens hope to wings that elevate people during its existence, a power which strengthens people. During my research different sources, from academic writings to visual sources, discussed how the result of an aim is affected by hope . The results that I gained from my research have shown that people can t achieve their dreams in the lack of hope. Hope is the irreplaceable element of success. The dictionary gives a basic meaning of hope, but the explanation of the word is deficient. The Oxford dictionary, an online dictionary which is created by The Oxford University, defines hope as to want something to happen and think that is possible (Hope). The denotation by The Oxford dictionary vitiates the true meaning of the word hope . To want something to happen (Hope) can be the explanation of require/desire, however, simplifying hope like that would be ignoring the effects of hope which are beyond desiring. After the requirement, having hope for the aim would help in the process of achieving. Defining second part of hope as to think something is possible (Hope) would be insufficient because hope can make people believe and attach themselves to their aim even though in the situations which are called impossible. • 27. British Colonization The main notable development that the British Empire brought to India during their colonisation was the railways, otherwise known as Railroads of the Raj . First proposed in 1846 by Thomas Williamson, the revenue commissioner of Bombay, who stated that Commercially, it would be best for the cotton of Berar while also allowing an immediate direction of the military stations (Williamson, 1846). Through this it is clear that the main objective for the railways was for development commercially and for quicker and faster links to and for the military. In 1850 the production began and by 1900 there was over 24,000 miles of railway tracks that had been laid (Kerr 1997). The development of the railways gave the impression that it was going to largely benefit India, and mainly India s economy, by increasing trade and transportation, almost bringing India into an age of an Industrial Revolution, just as the railways had done for Britain in the 1800 s. However, this particular introduction made by the British to India proved detrimental to their economy. The railway project was enormous and was funded entirely by British private investment capitals (Satya 2008). These private companies operated their railway lines with a guaranteed 5% return on their investment which was assured by the Indian revenues of the empire (Satya 2008). This was one of the biggest reasons why the railways caused a decline in India s economy. This guarantee system promised that even if the companies ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Oblinger (2001) has argued that, for a number of reasons, distance learning has the potential to develop a truly global university. The exchanges between the business and the customer are streamlined by the lack of physical barriers, and this can allow the school to transcend international borders. The current physical school can only market within the United States, and must bring students to the school physically. This limits the growth potential of the school. In contrast, the e business element allows for marketing all around the world. The school can develop curriculum for a number of different countries in order to build local businesses, all through the centralized website. In addition, the school can train professionals all around the world for careers in the US, Canada, the UK or other nations. This broadens the pool of potential health care practitioners considerably, something that benefits all Western nations, most of which face a shortage of qualified health care workers. The school will adhere to high level standards, so that its degrees are widely recognized.
