This paper is about the six decades worth of government cover ups What many believe is that the

paper will be on is that the government should tell the truth and tell the people what is out in the
universe. Over many year up to six decades worth of cover ups the United States has been
withdrawing information for the public for many years. The reason that the government should tell the
truth is that if their is nothing out in space then why cover up story of UFO why build secrets property

there is no trace of alien life on the planet but yet there is evidence to back up that the government for

scared of other life but it is the right of the people to know that there is life out in the universe. The

The origins of the issue dates back to 6 decades of the government cover ups. Another example of a
cover up is when nasa cut their live stream of the International Space Station several other users

me... They cut the feed because right there in front of your eyes is a UFO and rather than open that can

The Effect of Slavery on the Identity of Cuba Essay
The Effect of Slavery on the Identity of Cuba
The Caribbean is a diverse region with a unique history. The progress and advancement of each island
complied with the European country in control of it at the time. The Caribbean was conquered and
colonized soon after Columbus discovery in 1492. A similar aspect of the heterogeneous region has
been its plantations. The plantations were an important aspect of the cultural history of the Caribbean.
Mintz believed that the plantations tied the colonies in the Caribbean to the European country that was
colonizing it. He states:
the plantation system was an agricultural design for the production of export commodities for foreign
markets a means for introducing agricultural capitalism to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mintz believed that the plantation system was something positive that helped to shape each colony
into what it presently is, he states the plantation system was not only an agricultural device; it also
became the basis for entire societal design (Mintz 27). Benitez Rojo, also believing that the plantation
system was something positive, believed so because they created an economy in the primarily
primitive Caribbean and it help them construct a structured economical system.
Slavery in the Caribbean also played the role of shaping each colony s identity and culture. When
Europe began importing and shipping in slaves from Africa into the colonies, miscegenation occurred.
As a result of slavery, a diverse Caribbean was created. It was molded by each individual s island
history and how it dealt with slavery, the integration of cultures, acculturation, and colonialism. The
importation of about four million African slaves to the Caribbean was mainly what made these islands
the melting pot that it is today. Today, Cuba is one of the most racially mixed islands in the Caribbean.
Could the racial mixture possibly be the result of the impact of slavery in Cuba during the period of
the colony s colonization? Could the Afro Cuban culture be the result of miscegenation, which was
impacted by slavery in the island?

Different Perspectives Of Knowledge Production
3. METHODOLOGY
3.1. Introduction
The purpose of this dissertation was to explore the relationship between several variables such as age,
gender, locations and experiences, and the degree of perceived cultural conflicts in the workplace. In
addition, it also aimed to test the relationship between perceived cultural conflicts, support from the
HR department and the willingness to take online cross cultural training.
In order to collect effective data, the researcher carefully made choices in terms of research design,
research methods, and sampling. Next, limitations of the selected research choices were clarified and
discussed by the researcher. Last but most importantly, the researcher kept the ethical principles in
mind when conducting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Theory can be viewed as an explanation of observed regulations (Bryman and Bell, 2011). After that,
the concept of epistemology and ontology needs to be taken into consideration, which influences the
formation of research questions and implementation of research (Bryman and Bell, 2011).
Epistemology is concerned about questions of what is regarded as acceptable knowledge in a
discipline (Bryman and Bell, 2011). Two main ideologies in epistemology are positivism and
interpretivism. The former combines both a deductive approach and inductive strategy; it aims to test
theories (Pugh, 1983). The latter aims to gather and appreciate subjective settings in natural contexts
(Bryman and Bell, 2011). Ontology is relevant to the nature of society and two main ideologies within
ontology are objectivism and constructionism. Objectivism argues that social actors are independent
of social phenomena; however, constructionism argues that the actions of social actors construct the
social phenomena such as organisational culture.
There is a difference between quantitative and qualitative research in terms of relationship with theory,
epistemological and ontological orientations. After taking epistemology (positivism and
interpretivism) and ontology (objectivism and constructionism) into consideration, both quantitative
and qualitative researches were required in this research. Quantitative research was needed to test
relationships

History Of The Watergate Scandal
Throughout history, the American people have had a hard time instilling trust in their government and
political leaders. Between the numerous scandals involving United States presidents and other
political leaders and the dozens of conspiracy theories encompassing the United States government, it
is no wonder why the American people have lost trust in their government, and why the United States
has become the laughing stock of foreign countries. The 2016 presidential election was arguably the
most controversial election in American history; many voters felt that neither of the candidates could
be trusted due to their questionable actions. Numerous Americans were outraged when current U.S.
president, Donald J. Trump, was sworn into office; due ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Stress Factors
Stress can be defined as the feeling felt in time of difficulty, fear and when facing challenging
situations. Stress is a feeling in which a person feels like they cannot cope with a certain situation.
Stress comes in many forms and may be physical, psychological or emotional. Factors that cause
stress are known as stressors.
Events that occur in a person s life may cause feelings of stress, which may consist of:
Large changes
Overwhelming responsibility
Lack of change in one s life
Facing overwhelming pressure.
Stress may not only be caused by a single event but it may be caused by an accumulation of more
minor challenges which makes it more difficult to pin point what is actually causing a person stress.
As a learner a clear example of a stressor would be your Grade 12 year and the demands it places on
you.

Relax
Listen to music and practise some meditation to calm yourself and release tension that has been built
up in the body. This will help to better control stress and help find peace with yourself.
In matric there is a lot of work load and thus a student is stressed. In order for you to limit this stress
one should ensure they make or compile a planner in which they allocate days to do a certain piece of
work. If I am too lazy to make a planner I will have to do work such as projects days in advance
instead of leaving them to the last minute which will minimise stress and maximise time.
Also give yourself time to unwind whether it s hanging out with family or playing some sports.
Activities will help alleviate stress of matric and will also give the mind time to relax. By doing other
activities other than stressful matric work stress levels are given a chance to decrease and thus one will
have a more relaxed and calm approach when doing the stressful things.
Also I will ensure I apply time management to all activities I do for school. It is proven that the early
you begin your work the less stressful it is to do

A lot of the direct to consumer advertisement research uses antidepressant medication ads as their
variable of choice since that is the medication most advertised on both television and in print.
However, there are very few advertisements for non medication based intervention even though it has
been show to be just as effective in the treatment of depression. This is because the companies that
provide these interventions do not have the budget that the pharmaceutical companies possess. If
given the money to create an advertisement to highlight integrated care, psychoeducation, and the role
of the social worker, a cognitive behavioral therapy group focused on depression would be the
intervention and diagnoses the campaign would promote. If successful, then the campaign would be
branched out to other diagnosis.
The advertisement to promote a cognitive behavioral therapy group at the local health clinic
(Appendix A) would focus on the time limited nature of the treatment as well as the symptoms that
could be addressed. The advertisement would be targeted toward individuals between the ages of 18
and 45 who have been diagnosed with or have symptoms of depression. The major symptoms of
depression, sadness, emptiness, hopelessness, and troubles sleeping (APA, 2013), are displayed
prominently to attract those who have never sought out mental health treatment before, but recognizes
those symptoms in themselves. Having the diagnosis of depression would not be a requirement to join

Gynocritical Ethnography of the Dalit Women: Usha Ganguli s Rudali
The paper aims to study Ganguli s Hindi play Rudali1 as a sociological discourse of Dalit woman s
experiences in the post colonial India.
In his introduction to Poisoned Bread: Translation from Modern Marathi Dalit Literature, Arjun
Dangle gave a genesis of Dalit literature and discussed how it became popular among academic
personages. He noted that Dalit Literature is marked by revolt and negativism, since it is marked by
revolt, since it is closely associated with the hopes for freedom of a group of people who, as
untouchables, are victims of social, economic, and cultural inequality. (Dangle: ix)
He said that Dalit is not caste but:

Ganguli says her play is about all of us and that Sanichari represents women in general. She adds, I
believe that the Indian woman, whether it s Sanichari or someone from the middle or upper class, is
highly exploited in our society. Somehow I see Sanichari protesting against society [on the] whole.
(Mee: 9 10) Anjum Katyal notes that in Mahasweta Devi s novel the upper classes, whereas in
Ganguli s play men exploit women. Nonetheless, Ganguli s play retains Mahasweta Devi s economic
critique. (Mee 9 10)
We can trace a third possibility of dramatic aspect of action performed by Sanichari in Ganguli s
Rudali. It is that Sanichari s suffering is only due to her poverty not to class or gender. Her self
dependency represents a challenge to male/class dominated society. But part of the play shows women
s suffering partly due to poverty and partly to their submissiveness and reluctance to be self
dependent. They let their characters be ruined like Parbatia. The message that Ganguli wants to render
is Women! Be aware and self dependent.
The play begins, showing Sanichari s home a small hut with a courtyard, surrounded by a low
boundary wall . Sanichari is shown first grinding wheat in the chakki. Sanichari s mother in law,
Someri is lying on the charpoy wrapped in a tattered blanket. Her only son Budhua is suffering from

Sonographer Patient Interactions in the Health Care Field
The profession of sonography has been around for over thirteen years; however, if one were to ask the
average American what the occupation of a Sonographer entitled, there would likely be a wide range
of answers. When most individuals hear the word Ultrasound they will automatically pair this term
with pregnant women. Very seldom would one put the profession of sonography with other aspects of

the sonographer to use interviewing techniques to gather any and all relevant information from the

The Towers Of Babylon Summary
The Towers of Babylon , by Shirley Ye, consists of 4 watercolour and acrylic paintings, as well as 2
relief sculptures. The abstract (meaning, relating to reality, however has been distorted to appear
unreal) works of the series, speak about the dangers of urbanisation, references to the biblical tower of
Babylon as well as the quote, the higher you build, the greater you fall (Edwin Almeida). This artwork
as a series, will be the main focus of this review.
The series mainly comprise of watercolour and acrylic paint (paintings), paper photographs, wood,
metal and human figurines (sculptures). The 4 canvas paintings all display a theme of spaced out
areas, as well as areas that are tightly packed with layered lines/dots of paint. The sculptures however,
are built to appear tall and unstable for the human figurines that are placed standing close behind one
another. In addition, the sculptures consist of angled/protruding photographs of city environments and
metal bird cages. Across the six artworks, the tone and colours contrast through bright, warm tones, to
cold and dark shades, possibly to convey both positive and negative aspects of urbanisation, and the
reasoning (to find better jobs, education, etc) behind urbanisation.
The artist explains the artworks are made to display the dangers of urbanisation and make references
to disasters such as the fallen towers 9/11, Rana Plaza and Grenfell Tower. Shirley does this in her
artworks through symbolic meaning in the

In today s digital age, development of new technology and weapons are at an alarming rate, hence
arises the need to stay ahead of advancements in order to properly defend the nation, as well as
coalition forces and allies. In this period of warfare, the number one threat comes in the form of air
breathing and ballistic missiles. During World War II, this threat was present, but was not thought to
be prevalent. Following World War I, and into the beginning of World War II, the United States of
America was still recuperating from the first war, and therefore did not engage. The focus was
reestablishing the military in the form of personnel and equipment. It was becoming evident that the

Unfortunately, the officer on duty ignored the warning. Had he not, the attack on Pearl Harbor could
have been less severe, if not countered completely. In addition, the task of almost the entirety of the air
defense of Pearl Harbor fell upon the United States Navy and the United States Air Corp, despite the
16th Coast Artillery Regiment having eighty two 3 inch anti aircraft guns, twenty 37 mm anti aircraft
guns, and one hundred and nine .50 caliber anti aircraft machine guns. The Army Air Corp s P 36 and
P 40 pursuit planes were the main deterrent to enemy aircraft, unfortunately, this was the target of the
Japanese Naval Fleet (Anti aircraft). At the end of the attack, only a few P 36 s were able to escape the
barrage of bullets and bombs, and managed to destroy ten of the Japanese Zero s, while the 16th Coast
Artillery Regiment brought down six. Ironically, four years prior, in June of 1937, the United States
War Department began drafting a plan to increase the continental anti aircraft artillery due to rising
tensions with Japan, yet was not approved until late 1940. The plan called for increasing the number
of 3 inch guns from 135 to 472, as well as increasing the number of regiments to 80, which would
account for roughly 4,000,000 service men, solely for the defense of the continental United States.

Abbey Road Analysis
MUS107 Everybody has seen the iconic image of the Beatles walking single file across the crosswalk
of Abbey Road. The image, taken from the cover of the album Abbey Road, is far from being the most
revered aspect of the album. Abbey Road was the eleventh album produced by The Beatles, and the
last one recorded with all original members in the same studio. The album is considered by many to be
one of the best of all time, with Rolling Stone Magazine ranking it 14th out of 500. Abbey Road was
the last hurrah of the Beatle s amazing legacy, as the band had essentially broken up by the end of the
70s. The Beatles, along with Abbey Road changed the world of rock music, which is why it is still
important to listen to the album today. This essay will discuss the reactions to several songs from the
album. Come Together is the first song listed on the album, which was released in 1969. The song
followed a similar progression to a typical song structure: intro verse chorus verse chorus verse solo
outro. The bass plays an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It seems like the Beatles simply sat down and had fun with it, as opposed to setting up an agenda.
Some of the songs don t sound like they belong together on the same album at all. Octopus s Garden
and Here Comes the Sun are lighthearted, fun songs, while I Want You (She s so Heavy) and
Something are much more serious. The Beatles also experimented with the song structure in some of
their pieces, forgoing a chorus completely and singing verses all the way through. The album seriously
speaks to the complexity that was the history of the Beatles . This was created after a great deal of
drug use, which gave the group more experiences and perspectives to write from. The band added
even more elements by experimenting with a full orchestra on some of their songs. Overall, the album
gave me further perspective in to the history of the Beatles , and I enjoyed listening to it all the way

Discretion In Police Discretion
According to Dempsey et al (2016), Discretion means the availability of a choice of options or actions
one can take in a situation (p. 142).
An example of when police discretion was not used in a controlled and regulated manner was when
Mr. Samuel Dubose was shot and killed on July 19, 2015, over his front license plate missing on the
vehicle he was driving. Mr. Dubose was driving just south of University of Cincinnati around 6:30
p.m. when Officer Tensing began following him (Capehart, 2015). The university police share
jurisdiction with city officers on streets around the campus (Capehart, 2015). However, where the
driver was pulled over and killed at was outside of the shared jurisdiction. According to Capehart
(2015), The University of Cincinnati police officer Ray Tensing lied about the events leading up to the
shooting and the officer s body worn camera exposed the truth of what really happened that day. In the
video, the officer is asking Mr. Dubose repeatedly for his driver s license . Mr. Dubose replies that he
has a driver s license but does not have it with him. Mr. Dubose also states that the missing license
plate is in the glove box. Officer Tensing asks, What s that bottle on the floor? Mr. Dubose reaches
down, picks up the bottle of gin and gives it to the officer (Capehart, 2015). The officer starts to open
the driver s door and tells Mr. Dubose to remove his safety belt; Mr. Dubose pulls the door closed and
restarts his car. The officer steps to his

Motivations In Antigone By Sophocles
Ever wondered how far your motivations could take you? Antigone, a famous play written by
Sophocles, introduces the audience to various characters who push the limits with their motivations,
despite the consequences. We, the audience, are shown two major characters, a determined woman,
Antigone, who goes to extremes for her family, and Creon, a stubborn king who believes in protecting
his city Thebes. Creon creates a rule that both Antigone s brothers, Polyneices and Eteocles must both
alternately fulfill the title of king of Thebes, and ends in Polyneices death because of a battle that
arose between the brothers which resulted in a demand for Polyneices to remain unburied by Creon,
which influenced Antigone s determination to give Polyneices a proper burial, resulting in the death of
Antigone and Creon s family members. I believe Creon is the tragic hero because although he was
doing what he thought was right to defend the people of Thebes and fulfill his duty as a ruler, he
resulted in losing his loved ones and ending up alone. Creon becomes the king of Thebes, and because
of this, he wants to protect his people. Despite his desire to remain loyal to his citizens, Creon doesn t
take advice or input from anyone. Creon puts himself above everyone, including the gods, taking
advantage of his title. Creon states, We must obey those whom the city has ordained to be its leaders.
We should obey them, unquestioningly, in all things, minor or great, those we agree with

Black Legged Tick Research Paper
Species Profile of the Black Legged Tick (Ixodes scapularis)
Introduction One of the more common pests located in the Northeastern United States is the Black
Legged Tick (Ixodes scapularis). More commonly known as the Deer Tick this animal primarily
inhabits wooded areas populated by warm blooded wildlife. Specifically the temperate Pine Barrens in
Southern New Jersey, which hosts the 2nd largest tick population in the country (CDC, 2010), the
black legged tick is a common pest that spreads lyme disease. This disease is a bacterial infection
caused by the tick latching onto a host and feeding for an extended period of time. These ticks attach
to most warm blooded woodland creatures and any human beings unfortunate enough to get close

(CDC, 2015) Female ticks will die in the spring when her eggs burst from her body. These eggs will
litter the forest floor and eventually hatch into 6 legged larvae in the summer. These larva then attach
to much smaller mammals, such as field mice or small birds. Ticks spend as long as it takes, usually a
few days at most, finding the perfect spot to latch on and begin feeding. The larva feed for a few days
or until they are full and eventually drop off the host. With their appetite sated, larval ticks will now
prepare for their next stage of life. This occurs over the course of the fall and winter time period as
ticks burrow underground to retain warmth. They emerge in the spring, this time as 8 legged nymphs
and the feeding cycle begins anew. This is also the period where lyme disease becomes an issue.
While feeding on smaller animals, ticks contract the disease and they become carriers. They will
transmit the disease as nymphs. Like the larvae, a nymph attaches to a larger mammal ranging from
squirrels to human beings. Over the course of a few days, the nymph finds a spot to attach and feed.
This happens over Spring and Summer. If they wait too long, the nymph will die of starvation. When
sated once again, the nymph falls to the forest floor and prepares one more to proceed to the next stage
of life. By Autumn, nymphs will have grown into adults. This is one of the more important stages
simply because reproduction can now occur. Females will find a host in order to feed. Males find a
host and a suitable mate. The male, once a mate is found, will fertilize as many females as it possibly
can before dying. The females will continue to feed until they are full and eventually drop off. Once
she is ready to lay eggs in the spring, her body will burst and the eggs distribute along the forest floor
as the cycle begins

Guilt In Catalogy Of Morals By Nietzche
A mirror, a simple reflective surface, gives us a clear image of our physical self. An image we may not
admire, and occasionally an image we rarely accept. Yet looking through this mirror, we perceive not
only our appearance, but individually study ourselves from the inside. Fleeting shadows of panic fill
our minds, where we wonder what we mean to the world around us. Does my true self present itself as
this person staring back at me? Have I done enough in life? Will I always regret every decision? Have
I caused myself enough pain? As an individual living with anxiety I, and countless others who suffer

emotional fragility involving feeling on edge, defensive, irritable, sorrowful, and desperation to

Social Justice In The Gospel Of John
If the Gospel of John is about light overcoming the dark and Mark about the miracles and actions of
Jesus. If Luke is the one most concerned with social justice, then Matthew is the one who wants us to
know that, if we remember one thing about Jesus life, it should be his teachings.
We know that it was important to Matthew because it s what he emphasizes in his text. The Sermon on
the Mount, which we begin today, is not only the longest segment of teaching in Matthew, it is larger
than the comparable examples in the other gospels. Matthew puts it first, and he makes it bigger.
Matthew chapter 5 through the 29th verse of chapter 7.

Matthew tells us it was on a mountainside, but it was really more of a hill. A hillside by the water.
Jesus is placed on the mountain because that evokes images of Moses. Jesus sat because that was the
way teachers taught in Jesus time.
Matthew then tells us that his disciples came to him to listen. How many disciples? Well, all we know
Jesus to have at this point are the four Matthew has told us about. The focus of last week s text Peter,
Andrew, and the Zebedee boys. Did Matthew really mean that there were only four people listening to
Jesus?

The welfare state in Britain began when the Labour Party come into power in 1945. Their aim was to
introduce a organised system that would begin to tackle the existing poverty situation that was based
on the Poor Law Acts. The government recognised and acknowledged the need for these changes and
reducing the inequalities that existed via the social classes and counties. These differences included
the levels of unemployment, availability to public health services and workers that were covered by
occupational insurance. Servant William Beveridge shaped the principles and development of the
welfare state. Adam Smith argued and rebelled against the welfare state principles under the
conservative government. Smith argued that individuals control

Christopher Columbus was born on October 30th, 1451 and died May 20th 1506. He was a Genoese
navigator, explorer, and colonizer, and was born in the Republic of Genoa (present Italy). He
completed four voyages across the Atlantic Ocean for Catholic Monarchs of Spain. Those voyages,
and his efforts to establish permanent settlements on the island of Hispaniola, initiated the Spanish
colonization of the New World. During the 15th and 16th centuries, leaders of several European

The westerlies occuring at that time in the Azores had failed previous attempts to sail to the west, but
in the Canaries the fleet could pick up the northeast trade winds; supposedly, they could rely on the
westerlies for their return. The three ships set out from San Sebastián de la Gomera after nearly a
month in the Canaries, on September 6th . On numerous occasions in September through early
October sailors spotted various plant life floating in the sea and different types of birds in the sky,
which are all signs of land nearby. Despite the evident signs of land, by October 10th the crew began
to go restless. They complained that their failure to reach land, contrary winds and a shortage of
supplies would keep them from returning to Spain. Columbus managed to diminish their fears, at least
temporarily. On October 12th land was sighted by sailors from the Pinta but Columbus being on the

Guanahani, is hotly disputed, but San Salvador Island in the Bahamas is generally preferred to other

Personal Responsibility By Gabriel Garcia Marquez Essay
Personal responsibility is a principle that is educated in elementary school all the way through college;
it essentially means taking liability for all your thoughts, emotions, and behavior. Gabriel García
Márquez, Columbian novelist, was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1982: for his novels and
short stories, in which the fantastic and the realistic are combined in a richly composed world of
imagination, reflecting a continent s life and conflicts. ( The Nobel Foundation). He was an
exceptionally influential writer for including personal responsibility as a prominent theme in many of
his short stories. Julio Cortázar , an Argentine novelist, became well known for composing short
stories that united existential questions with experimental writing methods in his work. Along with
Márquez, he included the aspect of personal responsibility in his short stories. Recognizing that you
are exclusively accountable for the decisions in your life, understanding and agreeing that you are
responsible for what you decide to feel or believe, giving consent to the reality that you choose the
direction for your life and acknowledging that you cannot hold others responsible for the choices you
have made are all aspects of personal responsibility. Both of these authors explore the idea that human
beings choose, instigate, or cause their own actions; due to this idea each one of us are ethically and
morally responsible for our actions and where we end in life is consequently due

The Man In The Water Roger Rosenblatt
Bravery is someone putting themselves in harm s way but not necessarily for any cause. However,
courage is stupidity with the right intentions. It is jumping in front of a train to save the people down
the track, it is taking a bullet for someone. It is laying down you life for someone or something. The

Analysis Of The Boat By Alistair Macleod
The setting of Alistair Macleod s short story, The Boat, complements the setting of Alden Nowlan s
poem, Warren Pryor. Each of these writing pieces contain the element of a smaller town with a tight
knit community. In the short story The Boat, our community is a Nova Scotian community whose
primary industry is fishing. This results in most of the members of the community partaking in the
fishing lifestyle. Another influential location this writing piece takes place in is inside of the house,
which was one of about fifty that marched around the horseshoe of [his] harbour, (Macleod 263). Most
of the homes in this town are situated close to the water as it is there where most of the men work as
fishermen. Inside the house was his father s room where magazines and books covered the bureau,
(Macleod 265). It was in their father s room where the children discover their love of reading and
become more dedicated to their schooling. Both the short story and the poem contain the setting of a
school, which is symbolic as it is their education that allows the characters to be free of their
obligations and the way of their town. Finally, the setting takes place on the Jenny Lynn, she was what
Nova Scotians called a Cape Island boat and was designed for the small inshore fishermen, (Macleod
262) and it is on this boat where the father and son make their final journey out to sea. Likewise, the
poem Warren Pryor takes place in another resource based community, however, this

Analysis of Third Person Narratives of Two Novels
Ask any author what the most important aspect of their work is (whether that be fiction or not) and
they will all probably say the same four things: plot, setting, characters, and narration. This is also true
for the three novels we have studied thus far in class: Vathek, The Castle of Otranto, and The
Mysteries of Udolpho. The dark gloomth setting, the larger than life characters, and the supernaturally
centered plot lines all make these books Gothic novels, but how would one characterize the narrators?
If there is anything that these three novels we have studied thus far have in common, it is that each of
them have a third person narrator. Andrew Vachss, an American crime fiction author, once said that

3 ) Although, The Horse and His Boy is far from a Gothic novel, as it is actually a children s novel, the
similar introduction of the main characters strikes me as something that must be common among
authors who use the Arabian setting for their works. This specific familial introduction of the
particular character by the narrator suggests the nobility of the character and emphasizes that this is a
character that we should know. While the opening descriptions of Vathek can be categorized as
somewhat subjective, especially to the stereotypes of Arabia, The Castle of Otranto s opening lines are
objective. Walpole introduces the characters of the story as simply as possible. The narrator gives no
bias to the characters, he just communicates facts such as that Matilda was a beautiful virgin and
Conrad was sickly:
Manfred, Prince of Otranto, had one son and one daughter; the latter, a most beautiful virgin, aged
eighteen, was called Matilda. Conrad, the son, was three years younger, a homely youth, sickly, and of
no promising disposition; yet he was the darling of his father, who never showed any symptoms of
affection to Matilda (Walpole, 27).

Having a best friend is like having a second being to share your every movement and emotion with.
They are there for you in your saddest and happiest moments. They give you the truest opinions, but
will support you no matter what you decide to do. Once you become close enough with a person to
call them your best friend, you unconsciously begin having identical likes and dislikes. You become
inseparable, spending most of you days either hanging out or whining to them about any bothersome
matter that you come across. Those are some of the characteristics of being true close friends. You
never want them to be in harms way because you have developed a bond to that individual and
realized what an amazing person they are. Trust me when I tell you, I never wanted to see my best
friend of four years get hurt but when you are put in a situation like mine, it was bound to happen one
way or another. One of the biggest dilemmas I have encountered was deciding what to tell my close
friend and what not to for her own good. I would never have thought I would have to choose between
my best friend s trust or her happiness. As a freshman I, like most rookies in high school, was a very
bashful yet cheery young girl. I had chunky square glasses that where noticeably unproportional to my
face, almost completely encased my eyes. Being outgoing was one of my strong suits however, I could

The definition and history
Genetically modified organism (GMO) is a GM food or genetically engineered foods, are foods
produced from organisms that have had changes introduced into their DNA using the methods of
genetic engineering as opposed to traditional cross breeding. With the discovery of DNA in the early
1900s and various advancement in genetic techniques through the 1970s it became possible to directly
alter the DNA and genes within food. The first genetically modified plant was produced in 1983, using
an antibiotic resistant tobacco plant. Genetically modified microbial enzymes were the first
application of genetically modified organisms in food production and were approved in 1988 by the
US Food and Drug Administration. The first genetically modified food approved for release was the
Flavr Savr tomato in 1994. Developed by Calgene, it was engineered to have a longer shelf life by
inserting an antisense gene that delayed ripening. China was the first country to commercialize a
transgenic crop in 1993 with introduction of virus resistant tobacco. In 1995, Bacillus thuringiensis
(Bt) Potato was approved for cultivation, making it the first pesticide producing crop to be approved in
the USA. With the creation of golden rice in 2000, scientists had genetically modified food to increase
its nutrient value for the first time. The first genetically modified animal to be approved for food use
was AquAdvantage salmon in 2015. The

Free Tutoring Is A Great Thing For The End Of The Day Essay
Introduction
A lot of parents would love to get their child the help they need for school, or extra help to get ahead if
needed. Today there are a lot of tutoring programs out here, but all of them are not free. So, where
does that leave the children and the parents who cannot afford these programs? It can leave that child
at a lost because that child is not getting that extra help to become successful. Free tutoring is a great
thing for several reasons. At the HOPE Academy they offer free tutoring for students who may cannot
afford tutoring and are behind in their class. HOPE academy is making a differences in their kid s
lives because it is not just tutoring at the end of the day.
Social issues/challenges
There are several social issues that pertains to my service learning, but the main issue I would say is
getting the students the extra help that they need. Most of the students live in poverty or not the best of
areas and getting access to the extra help for school are slim to none. Most of the students who come
into the tutoring program at HOPE are not on their reading grade level or math grade level. This is
nothing to come to be a shock because there are a lot of kids every year that fall behind their grade
level. It seems to be the ones that do not live the best of areas.
This is a serious issue because once a child is behind especially at a young age it can be very difficult

Essay Opening Shot Analysis of Rear Window
The opening scene in Alfred Hitchcock s Rear Window essentially acts as one long establishing shot
only rather than establishing just the location of a scene, it establishes the entire film in more ways
than one. One particularly important shot in the scene, beginning 00:02:36 into the film, tells the
audience much of what it will need to know about Rear Window s setting, characters, and themes. The
long take begins with an alarm clock waking up a couple, sleeping out on their balcony. As the camera

This image, along with the cheerful music playing from somebody s radio, implies a level of safety
and comfort in this neighborhood that will sharply contrast with the violence to come in the film.
While much of the neighborhood appears on screen in the beginning of the shot, one important thing
is notably off screen the whole time: The view from which the camera pivots. Behind the camera was
the apartment of L.B. Jeffries, and the camera pans to the left, inside his window, to finish with a brief
tour around his living room that teaches us his most important character traits. We see first, in an
extreme close up of a cast, that Jeffries has a broken leg. And then the camera pans left and we see
why: A broken camera appears on screen, and a rack focus shift to the background shows a
photograph of an automobile accident with a tire flying straight at the camera. Then several other
framed photographs of exciting events appear on the screen, telling us Jeffries is a photographer who
craves adventure and excitement. The mise en scene of this shot hints at important information about
Jeffries, his neighbors, and the neighborhood in general. But what the camera does tells us something
much stronger: Rear Window is a film about voyeurism, and a commentary on audiences watching
drama on a screen. The framing of different

Examples Of Marxism In The Great Gatsby
F. Scott Fitzgerald s literary work, The Great Gatsby, creates an artificial world in which the main
characters desire the clout of money; where the characters, the plot, and the setting are deeply
immersed in a capitalistic vow to shatter the American Dream, allowing certain socialistic aspects to
emerge with regularity. This oppression of power framework can be connected to a Marxist Theory of
belief through power struggles amongst characters. The main characters face oppression against one
another in such senses allowing for corruptive factors to be engaged. Corruption and innocence of
Gatsby and Tom s weaknesses toward the women of the novel create such viewpoints that are
construed within the text as well as a hint toward the negative side of Capitalism and the promotion of

Planning And Implementing Curriculum Accommodation
Planning and implementing curriculum accommodation in content areas Many students with LD
experience trouble with reading abilities that are significantly below grade level. Consequently, the
high school text book in history and other social studies classes will represent a problem. If students
have problems with interpreting what is seen, they may have difficulties with timelines, graphs, maps,

(2007) demonstrated that modification can be implemented to help students with learning difficulties
succeed in social studies. Textbooks are usually hard for students with learning difficulties, it is better
to utilize supplementary reading material, for example, historical fiction, easier textbook and resources

events, newspapers can contain information that related to social studies topics to students lives and
communities, establish reading abilities, boost critical thinking skills and integrate concepts across
social studies topics.
These resources might explain topics, themes, and abstract ideas that are too hard to understand in the
textbooks (Steele, 2007). To make students with learning problems more successful, the teacher can

Mythology has been a part of human culture for centuries. As children, we grew up learning about all
sorts of myths from those around us. It is defined as a traditional story about heroes or supernatural
beings, often attempting to explain the origins of natural phenomena or aspects of human behavior. In
these three plays, Medea by Euripides, Everyman by Anonymous writer, and Doctor Faustus by
Christopher Marlowe, there is a common mythology evident, and that is, the power of a supreme
being. The representation of a higher power in the lives of men is very significant in many works of
literature. A higher power plays an important, if not leading role in each and every one of these works.

Apparently, the play struck a chord or two in the hearts and minds of the renaissance period. It harbors
a certain uniqueness to it than another plays before it. Doctor Faustus stood out by combining things
we associate with medieval drama, like myths, to explore questions like: What is the true nature of
power? What form should knowledge take? Should we believe in fate or free will?
Doctor Faustus, which was a time of great religious importance, and high in catholic beliefs, believed
that God was the most powerful being in the world and the creator of the universe. Faustus gave his
soul to the devil, in order to be like God himself. However, to an Elizabethan audience, this act of
rebellion would not only be frightening but in many ways inspiring. There is no one in the world who
would not give everything they have to become as powerful as God but would not dare rebel against
the lord. As a reader of these plays, I see myself as a contemporary audience because of the way in
which the play was written, and the symbols it represented wouldn t be clear enough for me to

The Phantom Tollbooth Analysis
If we lived in a society where books were burned, the preservation of books and their messages would
become exceedingly important. The messages that some books share are key to understanding and
overcoming many of the world s problems. Norton Juster s The Phantom Tollbooth is one of these
many books. The Phantom Tollbooth shows the power of imagination and the consequences of and
ignorance, explores the many ways to overcome ignorance using wisdom and creativity, and enables

Milo, the main character in The Phantom Tollbooth does this on multiple occasions. One example of
this is when Milo uses his creativity to help the citizens of the Valley of Sound. In the Valley of Sound,
the Soundkeeper stores all of the sounds in her fortress, which means that the citizens are unable to
hear or create any type of noise. Milo is put in charge of obtaining a sound, and when he finds out that
he will be unable to take a sound, he attempts to say something but stops before the word can leave his
lips. This enables him to give the citizens a weapon to break down the Fortress of Sound in order to
regain their sounds. Milo gives the readers a perfect example of overcoming a challenge by using
creativity. Later in the book, King Azaz the Unabridged and the Mathemagician are in an ongoing
feud, each trying to outdo the other in a battle of ignorance. Milo uses logic to persuade the
Mathemagician to allow him to rescue the princesses Rhyme and Reason, who are able to end the feud
between King Azaz and the Mathemagician. He uses his logic to reach a conclusion that enables the
kings to end their feud and reinstate Rhyme and Reason as the rulers of Wisdom, which shows the
readers that logic can overcome the immense power of ignorance. Many other examples of using
creativity and logic to overcome challenges are given throughout the book, including the escape from
the Doldrums and beating the Demons of Ignorance.

Slavery in the Caribbean also played the role of shaping each colony s identity and culture. When Europe began importing and shipping in slaves from Africa into the colonies, miscegenation occurred. As a result of slavery, a diverse Caribbean was created. It was molded by each individual s island history and how it dealt with slavery, the integration of cultures, acculturation, and colonialism. The importation of about four million African slaves to the Caribbean was mainly what made these islands the melting pot that it is today. Today, Cuba is one of the most racially mixed islands in the Caribbean. Could the racial mixture possibly be the result of the impact of slavery in Cuba during the period of the colony s colonization? Could the Afro Cuban culture be the result of miscegenation, which was impacted by slavery in the island? SPAIN and the EVOLUTION of SLAVERY in CUBA Among the discovery of the rich lands of ... After that, the concept of epistemology and ontology needs to be taken into consideration, which influences the formation of research questions and implementation of research (Bryman and Bell, 2011). Epistemology is concerned about questions of what is regarded as acceptable knowledge in a discipline (Bryman and Bell, 2011). Two main ideologies in epistemology are positivism and interpretivism. The former combines both a deductive approach and inductive strategy; it aims to test theories (Pugh, 1983). The latter aims to gather and appreciate subjective settings in natural contexts (Bryman and Bell, 2011). Ontology is relevant to the nature of society and two main ideologies within ontology are objectivism and constructionism. Objectivism argues that social actors are independent of social phenomena; however, constructionism argues that the actions of social actors construct the social phenomena such as organisational culture. There is a difference between quantitative and qualitative research in terms of relationship with theory, epistemological and ontological orientations. An example of when police discretion was not used in a controlled and regulated manner was when Mr. Samuel Dubose was shot and killed on July 19, 2015, over his front license plate missing on the vehicle he was driving. Mr. Dubose was driving just south of University of Cincinnati around 6:30 p.m. when Officer Tensing began following him (Capehart, 2015). • 14. Motivations In Antigone By Sophocles Ever wondered how far your motivations could take you? Antigone, a famous play written by Sophocles, introduces the audience to various characters who push the limits with their motivations, despite the consequences. We, the audience, are shown two major characters, a determined woman, Antigone, who goes to extremes for her family, and Creon, a stubborn king who believes in protecting his city Thebes. Creon creates a rule that both Antigone s brothers, Polyneices and Eteocles must both alternately fulfill the title of king of Thebes, and ends in Polyneices death because of a battle that arose between the brothers which resulted in a demand for Polyneices to remain unburied by Creon, which influenced Antigone s determination to give Polyneices a proper burial, resulting in the death of Antigone and Creon s family members. I believe Creon is the tragic hero because although he was doing what he thought was right to defend the people of Thebes and fulfill his duty as a ruler, he resulted in losing his loved ones and ending up alone. Creon becomes the king of Thebes, and because of this, he wants to protect his people. Despite his desire to remain loyal to his citizens, Creon doesn t take advice or input from anyone. (CDC, 2015) Female ticks will die in the spring when her eggs burst from her body. These eggs will litter the forest floor and eventually hatch into 6 legged larvae in the summer. These larva then attach to much smaller mammals, such as field mice or small birds. Ticks spend as long as it takes, usually a few days at most, finding the perfect spot to latch on and begin feeding. The larva feed for a few days or until they are full and eventually drop off the host. With their appetite sated, larval ticks will now prepare for their next stage of life. This occurs over the course of the fall and winter time period as ticks burrow underground to retain warmth. They emerge in the spring, this time as 8 legged nymphs and the feeding cycle begins anew. This is also the period where lyme disease becomes an issue. While feeding on smaller animals, ticks contract the disease and they become carriers. They will transmit the disease as nymphs. Like the larvae, a nymph attaches to a larger mammal ranging from squirrels to human beings. Over the course of a few days, the nymph finds a spot to attach and feed. This happens over Spring and Summer. If they wait too long, the nymph will die of starvation. When sated once again, the nymph falls to the forest floor and prepares one more to proceed to the next stage of life. By Autumn, nymphs will have grown into adults. This is one of the more important stages simply because reproduction can now occur. Females will find a host in order to feed. Males find a host and a suitable mate. The male, once a mate is found, will fertilize as many females as it possibly can before dying. The females will continue to feed until they are full and eventually drop off. • 24. Analysis Of The Boat By Alistair Macleod The setting of Alistair Macleod s short story, The Boat, complements the setting of Alden Nowlan s poem, Warren Pryor. Each of these writing pieces contain the element of a smaller town with a tight knit community. In the short story The Boat, our community is a Nova Scotian community whose primary industry is fishing. This results in most of the members of the community partaking in the fishing lifestyle. Another influential location this writing piece takes place in is inside of the house, which was one of about fifty that marched around the horseshoe of [his] harbour, (Macleod 263). Most of the homes in this town are situated close to the water as it is there where most of the men work as fishermen. Inside the house was his father s room where magazines and books covered the bureau, (Macleod 265). It was in their father s room where the children discover their love of reading and become more dedicated to their schooling. Both the short story and the poem contain the setting of a school, which is symbolic as it is their education that allows the characters to be free of their obligations and the way of their town. Finally, the setting takes place on the Jenny Lynn, she was what Nova Scotians called a Cape Island boat and was designed for the small inshore fishermen, (Macleod 262) and it is on this boat where the father and son make their final journey out to sea. • 26. Analysis of Third Person Narratives of Two Novels Ask any author what the most important aspect of their work is (whether that be fiction or not) and they will all probably say the same four things: plot, setting, characters, and narration. This is also true for the three novels we have studied thus far in class: Vathek, The Castle of Otranto, and The Mysteries of Udolpho. The dark gloomth setting, the larger than life characters, and the supernaturally centered plot lines all make these books Gothic novels, but how would one characterize the narrators? If there is anything that these three novels we have studied thus far have in common, it is that each of them have a third person narrator. While the opening descriptions of Vathek can be categorized as somewhat subjective, especially to the stereotypes of Arabia, The Castle of Otranto s opening lines are objective. Walpole introduces the characters of the story as simply as possible. The narrator gives no bias to the characters, he just communicates facts such as that Matilda was a beautiful virgin and Conrad was sickly: Manfred, Prince of Otranto, had one son and one daughter; the latter, a most beautiful virgin, aged eighteen, was called Matilda. Conrad, the son, was three years younger, a homely youth, sickly, and of no promising disposition; yet he was the darling of his father, who never showed any symptoms of affection to Matilda (Walpole, 27). • 27. Descriptive Essay On My Best Friend Having a best friend is like having a second being to share your every movement and emotion with. They are there for you in your saddest and happiest moments. They give you the truest opinions, but will support you no matter what you decide to do. Once you become close enough with a person to call them your best friend, you unconsciously begin having identical likes and dislikes. You become inseparable, spending most of you days either hanging out or whining to them about any bothersome matter that you come across. Those are some of the characteristics of being true close friends. You never want them to be in harms way because you have developed a bond to that individual and realized what an amazing person they are. Trust me when I tell you, I never wanted to see my best friend of four years get hurt but when you are put in a situation like mine, it was bound to happen one way or another. I would never have thought I would have to choose between my best friend s trust or her happiness. As a freshman I, like most rookies in high school, was a very bashful yet cheery young girl. With the discovery of DNA in the early 1900s and various advancement in genetic techniques through the 1970s it became possible to directly alter the DNA and genes within food. The first genetically modified plant was produced in 1983, using an antibiotic resistant tobacco plant. Genetically modified microbial enzymes were the first application of genetically modified organisms in food production and were approved in 1988 by the US Food and Drug Administration. The first genetically modified food approved for release was the Flavr Savr tomato in 1994. Developed by Calgene, it was engineered to have a longer shelf life by inserting an antisense gene that delayed ripening. China was the first country to commercialize a transgenic crop in 1993 with introduction of virus resistant tobacco. In 1995, Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) Potato was approved for cultivation, making it the first pesticide producing crop to be approved in the USA. Today there are a lot of tutoring programs out here, but all of them are not free. So, where does that leave the children and the parents who cannot afford these programs? At the HOPE Academy they offer free tutoring for students who may cannot afford tutoring and are behind in their class. Behind the camera was the apartment of L.B. Jeffries, and the camera pans to the left, inside his window, to finish with a brief tour around his living room that teaches us his most important character traits. We see first, in an extreme close up of a cast, that Jeffries has a broken leg. And then the camera pans left and we see why: A broken camera appears on screen, and a rack focus shift to the background shows a photograph of an automobile accident with a tire flying straight at the camera. Then several other framed photographs of exciting events appear on the screen, telling us Jeffries is a photographer who craves adventure and excitement. The mise en scene of this shot hints at important information about Jeffries, his neighbors, and the neighborhood in general. Doctor Faustus, which was a time of great religious importance, and high in catholic beliefs, believed that God was the most powerful being in the world and the creator of the universe.
