Case Study Vaginal Hysterectomy
In this case study I am going to critically analyse the intraoperative journey of a fictitious patient,
facilitating a panoramic view of patient care, values of the National Health Service and enhancing a
holistic approach. The use of a fictitious patient allows for maintenance of confidentiality in line with
professional s standards (College of Operating Department Practitioners, 2009). For clarity and to
enhance structure the fictitious patient shall be referred to as Mrs Bird. Mrs Bird is a 35 year old
female, a mum of twin boys who are seven years of age. She is a primary school teacher by profession
and has been experiencing menstrual cramping and heavy menstrual bleeding. She is currently taking
non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first abdominal hysterectomy was first performed by Charles Clay in Manchester in 1843 even
though the initial procedure was to remove an ovarian tumour, the patient coughed and extruded a
huge uterine fibroid through the incision. He had no choice but to perform a subtotal hysterectomy,
unfortunately the patient died a few hours later. Surprisingly in the same year another surgeon Heath
had the same situation happen to him and the patient died from post operative blood loss. The
following year Charles Clay attempted another hysterectomy procedure and almost succeeded, but the
patient died post operatively after fifteen days having fallen out of bed. Nevertheless, Ellis Burnham
from Lowell, Massachusetts successfully achieved the first abdominal hysterectomy, but diagnosis
was wrong, he thought he was removing an ovarian cyst. However, Kimball who was also from
Massachusetts carried out the first hysterectomy for a fibroid tumour with the patient surviving the
operation. The most common reason for performing hysterectomy is to cure uterine fibroids, but
however, The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) stated that total abdominal
hysterectomy should be considered as a last option for fibroids and that woman should be told about
other treatments which are less drastic surgical procedures. Mrs Bird is health and fit with no other
presenting issues besides her current problem. It is important for Mrs Bird to understand the changes
her body will go through after the operation. Her medical history indicates that she has normal and
stable physiological status, a chest x ray was performed to examine any abnormalities in her lungs,
electrocardiograms was performed to access her heart before the operation. The

Pinckney Pinchback Chapter Summary
In one incident, a minister was fleeced for all of his cash while his ship was docked at Natchez, MS, a
popular gambling destination. Obviously, a man of the cloth was compelling victim for the ship s
captain, John Russell. Russell, along with his crew, confronted the grifters, but they initially refused to
return the money. However, the card cheats decided to return the money to the minister after Russell
threatened to tear down the gambling hall by dragging it into the river attached to his boat.
These kinds of tales were fairly commonplace and the people who benefitted the most from restrictive
gambling laws were the card cheats or card sharps. Two of the most legendary Mississippi river boat
card sharps were business partners, George ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

of three card monte, but he didn t want to take advantage of the man. Another man dressed like a

money. The farmer convinced Hall that he would hold the winnings and give it back to the drunk once
he sobered up. However, the core element of the con game was that the dealer was only pretending to
be drunk. He immediately sobered up after Hall agreed to play and won $500. Again, these kinds of

Sarbanes-Oxley Act Summary
The Sarbanes Oxley Act was conceived by Senator Paul Sarbanes and Congressman Michael Oxley
and signed into legislation by George W. Bush in 2002. The 11 titled Act became necessary when
investors lost their confidence in days following the Enron, Arthur Anderson, and WorldCom fiascos.
The purpose of the law is to provide board members, executives, auditors, attorneys, and directors
with specific written duties and penalties for noncompliance and to protect investors by improving the
accuracy and reliability of corporate disclosures made pursuant to the securities laws, as stated by the
Act. The SOX has become known to many as the greatest security law since the Security Exchange
Commission was formed in 1934.

Summary Of Parmenide
In just 20 lines in section 11.8 of his poem, Parmenides gives at least three arguments for why what is
is ungenerated. I will present and explain each argument, the first two briefly and the last at more
length because I consider his third argument to be his most comprehensive. Last, I will address his
explanation of why what is is imperishable.
Argument 1.
Any given thing requires a reason to be generated, including what is (supplied)
It makes no sense to say that a reason suddenly existed for what is to be generated (11.8, 9 10)
Therefore what is was not generated (11.8, 11)
This argument takes place in the space of just a few lines, in which Parmenides poses a question what
need would have roused it, later or earlier, to grow, having begun from nothing? (11.8, 9 10). It here
refers to what is. He assumes that everything has a reason to be generated some specific need but he
cannot see why this reason would suddenly appear. The phrase later or earlier might point to how
difficult it is to believe that at an arbitrary moment in time what is suddenly had a reason to spring into
existence. If no such need could have appeared, then what is could not have been generated.
Parmenides applies this argument specifically to what is being generated from what is not, or having
begun from nothing (11.8, 10). And the argument certainly does seem to challenge the idea of
generation from nothing, but I have left it neutral as regards the source of what is in my reconstruction
here. I did this because I believe he can also apply Argument 1 to challenge the idea of generation
from what is, not only from what is not. It should apply to both because the only way to say that what
is is not generated is to show that it is generated from neither what is not, nor what is. More on this in
Argument 3.
Argument 2.
Someone or something must bring any given thing, including what is, into existence (supplied)
No one can make anything come into existence (11.8, 12)
Therefore what is cannot be generated (11.8, 13 14)
This is a difficult argument to suss out, especially since once again it takes place in only three lines.
But he says that the force of conviction cannot make anything come to be out of

The Difference Between Bisimulation And Forced Simulation
Literature Review: The difference between Bisimulation and Forced Simulation Haowei Zheng
hzhe024@aucklanduni.ac.nz 1. INTRODUCTION
Currently, component reuse techniques have become more and more important for handling the
rapidly increasing complexities of component based embedded system. Bisimulation is a well known
technique which has been proposed in the very early stage of simulation development. It provides the
functionality of checking for process equivalent in process algebras. Many applications have been
developed by using this technique. However, there are still some issues regarding using bisimulation
technique. One specific issue is component matching problem. To better resolve this problem, a new
technique which is called forced simulation is proposed and developed. In this article, we will carry
out a literature review to discover the difference between forced simulation technique and
bisimulation technique.
In the following sections, first of all the component matching problem will be explained more
detailed. Then the definition of bisimulation and forced simulation will be shown. After that, an
example of these two different techniques will be shown for comparing the difference between them.
2. COMPONENT MATCHING PROBLEM
In component based embedded system, component reuse methodologies has been an important focus
of industry since the complexities of modern embedded system are increasing rapidly. However, there

Controversical Analysis Of A Watcher
The situation of this commercial is critical to its viability on its watchers. Having been put on the web,
this article can possibly connect with a substantially more extensive scope of watchers. Individuals of
all races, ages, financial statuses, and convictions are on the web every day. My idea on this picture, is
that it was planned for a crowd of people outside of the United States since it appeared on a site that
had ads from around the globe. In the United States, kids encounter programs, through school, keeping
in mind the end goal to instruct understudies on the unsafe impacts of cigarettes. Since we have these
projects here in the United States and numerous different commercials, this particular notice is
planned for a group of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The creator needs the watcher to interface smoking cigarettes with death so as to convince somebody
not to smoke. At the point when dull hues are utilized, the all inclusive community of individuals will
expect that something terrible has happened or is being delineated. An interest to rationale likewise
happens with the red shading being appeared on one of the lungs. This red shading is related with
flame. The watcher will relate this fire in somebody s lungs with the decimation of their lungs. The
affiliation that the watcher makes with the fire runs as an inseparable unit with the affiliation they will
make with the words depicting the promotion. The last interest to rationale that happens in this
promotion is the word usage. The notice is joined by one short sentence. In this sentence, the creator
utilizes the expression expending. When somebody who is seeing this notice sees the word devouring,
they will connect that word with sustenance. Individuals eat sustenance so as to give their body the
supplements that their bodies require keeping in mind the end goal to work legitimately. Nonetheless,
for this situation, as per dictionary.com, the word expend signifies to devastate or grow by utilize. The
utilization of this word plays both a sensible interest on the watcher and also an enthusiastic interest to
them. The coherent interest is just the signification of the word. The

Moving-Average Temperature Equations
It is difficult to apply any meaning to this variability from the moving average temperature but
someone could make reasonable assumptions about why this difference in variability exists. One such
assumption could be because you cannot give the entire globe a single temperature. It is, naturally, an
aggregation of many localized temperatures, which must be averaged or at least used to calculate a
median to negate the effect of outliers. The aggregated global calculation inherently smooths out the
impacts of localized variances on the variability of the overall global value. Observation summary:
There is a greater degree of variability from the average in the temperature measurements of Seattle,

These are each representing the best possible fit trend line for each data set, which means this is the
best possible r2 achievable by any other possible trend line. Given these values, we can be reasonably
certain that the regression model represented by the trend line better fits the global temperature data
than the model for the Seattle temperature data. This matches the observation we can see in the graph
of greater dips and rises in the line representing the data set. It is reasonable to assume that, with more
data, we may be more likely to see a change in the direction of the trend line for Seattle (at only 68%
fit) than we would for the global trend line. This may affect data trends regarding how Seattle warms
in relation to the rest of the globe. Observation Summary: We should continue to collect data over
time in order to see if a better fit emerges and the trend line changes. Aggregated Interpretation of

Cindy Sherman was born in a small town of Glen Ridge, New Jersey in 1954 (Sherman, 2004).
Throughout her childhood she wasn t really involved with art much. Her parents had different careers.
Her father was an engineer and her mother was a teacher at a school (Sherman, 2004). She first
learned about art when she found and read one of her parents books about paintings. She was
interested and continued to learn about the art. Eventually she attended the State University of Buffalo

‘Business’ and Its ‘Environment’
Business and Its Environment
Introduction
 Every business organization has to interact and transact with its „environment‟.  The
effectiveness of interaction of an enterprise with its environment primarily determines the success or
failure of a business.
 The environment imposes several „constraints‟ on an enterprise and has a considerable impact and
influence on the scope and direction of its activities. The enterprise, on the other hand, has very little
control over its environment.  The business environment presents two challenges to the enterprise,
viz., the challenge to combat the environmental threats (such as intensification of competition,
declining market etc.) and to exploit the business opportunities.  The basic job ... Show more content

 Within the private sector businesses vary in
 Objectives (profit and CSR)  Legal structure (sole trader; partnership; limited company) 
Industry;  Size (measured in terms of number of employees; sales revenue)  Market power (degree
of competitive pressure)  Geographical reach (within, between, and among countries)
 The diversity also means that, although there are common elements in the business environment,
each business operates in an environment that is, to some extent, unique.
Thinking about the business environment Eight key themes
 Internal/external the environment is both inside and outside organisations. Internal: „controllable‟ |
External: „uncontrollable‟
 Business organisations is not really a single, unified entity but is internally differentiated. 
Managers within business, to be effective, have to deal with both the internal and external
environment.  The ability of an organization to operate successfully within its external environment
depends, in large part, on the effectiveness of internal systems and procedures.  The internal
environment has to be managed and adapted to the demands and opportunities of the external
environment.
 Important internal factors: organizational resources; R D and technological capabilities; financial
capability; marketing capability;

Watching TV Does More Harmful Things to People than Good...
Watching TV is an experience that most people do for almost all the time. Some people believe that
watching TV does more good things to people than harmful things, but other people say that it does
more harmful things to people than good things. The people who say that TV does more harmful
things than good things are doctors who know about things that are good and bad in people s health
and the people who say that TV is good for you are the people who watch a lot of TV. Since doctors
can help cure people and know what is good for people, this would mean that the doctors are correct
about TV harming people than the people who watch a lot of TV who believe that TV can do good
things to other people. Watching TV does more harmful things to people than good things because it
can cause them people to imitate bad behavior on TV, it can cause people to have health problems, and
that it can people s time away from doing activities that help them become successful in their life.
People who watch a lot of tv think that they are not harmed by the TV but this however is not true.
Doctors who know what s good for people say that watching TV can cause a lot of harm to people
since it can cause people to have behavior problems and can cause them to not feel well from their
health. One way that TV can do more harmful things than good things is that it can cause people who
watch a lot of TV to imitate bad behavior on TV. According to KidsHealth.org, it said that TV

The Symbolism Of Silent Sam
The official entrance to the campus of the University of North Carolina is a green field called
McCorkle Place. In the middle of this field on a pedestal, a large bronze statue, Silent Sam, stands.
Silent Sam was requested by the North Carolina chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy
in 1908, to memorialize the 300 UNC students who died fighting for the Confederacy during the civil
war. Since the statue s completion in 1913, Silent Sam has had many meanings to many different
people around Chapel Hill. In the 1960s, debates over Silent Sam s symbolism and place on UNC s
campus gained public attention for the first time. To this day, protests, demonstrations, writings, and
debates both for and against the statue have drawn in students and community members. Julian
Shakespeare Carr was a Confederate veteran who gave a commencement speech at the unveiling of
Silent Sam in 1913. Silent Sam, along with many other Confederate monuments, was built during the
height of the Jim Crow laws in the South. Carr himself was a self described architect of Jim Crow,
envisioning an all white North Carolina. The anti black sentiments of the South at the time and of he
himself, are evident in Julian Carr s commencement speech on June 2nd, 1913 as he alludes to his
memory One hundred yards from where we stand of having horse whipped a negro wench... because

Poverty Is A National Epidemic That Plagues Americans...
Poverty is a national epidemic that plagues Americans across the country. Imagine having to choose
between the simple necessities of life, the decision of whether to buy toothpaste, toilet paper, or
laundry soap. Which is most important, which will have the largest effect on the outcome of one s
life? Could something so small really change a person s ability to survive? Funk Wagnalls New World
Encyclopedia states that poverty is the economic condition in which people lack sufficient income to
obtain certain minimal levels of health services, food, housing, clothing, and education generally
recognized as necessary to ensure an adequate standard of living ( Poverty ). Poverty is a way of life
that becomes an endless cycle of struggle and production. Work, pay bills repeat. Poverty is the
reflection of greed in our nation that encourages success at the cost of our humanity. Poverty is a
generational cycle that is inherited and becomes the anchor to all future success. It is often said that
poverty is the effect of a lazy, uneducated nation, in reality, the poverty level family has at least one
adult working at least 40 hours a week at a painstakingly back breaking job that the elite American
would quiver at the thought of performing. The effect of Poverty is caused by lack of opportunities,
greed, and generational circumstances
One of the main causes of poverty is a lack of opportunities for growth and success. In 2006 there

I Am A Great Leader
Leaders are everywhere and when I think of great leaders I have had the pleasure of interacting with,
the first ones that come to my mind are my Grandparents, Virgil and June Watts. After my first
thought, my mind floods with many other people who I consider great leaders but my Grandparents
are always the first that I think of as great leaders. My Grandpa taught me about hard work, respect,
the importance of family, and the ability to understand you may not always get along so you have to
learn to compromise sometimes. My Grandma taught me how to love, give to others, cook, and
provide for ourselves and others with what we have available. One of the most important thing my
Grandparents taught me though was, to have a passion and put one hundred percent into it. My
Grandpa with his love of music and entertaining people with playing music and my Grandma with her
love of sewing and making beautiful dresses and quilts.
I spent many nights and days with my Grandparents and often see them as playing the biggest role in
the person I turned out to be. When it comes to personal values and morals, I ve shaped most of mine
from what they have shown me. Although we disagree politically, I learned so much from them about
what it means to be a great leader. They taught me honesty, even when it gets myself in trouble.
Loyalty, is another trait that I learned from my Grandparents, even if it means standing up alone. They
taught me compassion, having the ability to show everyone kindness

computer which he later named Apple 1. He tried to sell it, but did not have any success initially. He
later designed Apple II, which was launched at a trade show as the first personal computer with color
graphics and a case. Wozniak had been dabbling in computer design for some time when, Jobs, who
had an eye for the future, insisted that he and Wozniak try to sell the machine. In 1980, Apple III was

The Impact Of Technology On The Allied Victory During...
How did the development of new technology aid in the allied victory during World War Two? The
Second World War (WWII) was a devastating global war that lasted from 1939 to 1945, causing
struggle and suffering across much of the world s nations. During this period, technological
developments increased significantly and advancements in every field of war were emerging quickly
and leaving huge impressions. New inventions and scientific principles emerged during WWII in
fields such as weaponry, communications and effective defensive means that helped lead the allies to
total victory. Allied weapons technology developed at a rapid rate during WWII and was crucial in
overpowering the German and associated forces. Developments in tanks, bombs and other weapons
across many allied states, contributed to their victory. New communication technology meant that
forces could crypt and encrypt secret messages and detect enemy forces from never seen before
distances, making the idea of surprise attack virtually impossible. Defensive technology, although not
necessarily considered as a large part of the war effort, played a crucial role in protecting the allied
countries from invasion or surrender and ultimately helped defeat the axis forces. Defensive systems
were implemented by the allied countries including Chain Home and the Maginot line that helped win
back control. Development of weapons technology is what primarily changed the tides of WWII,
essentially winning the war for the

Japanese Persuasive Speech
I think that we should have dropped the nuclear bomb on Japan. I think that it ended the war earlier
than it would have if they invaded the Japanese. The Japanese bombed pearl harbor and it took two
days to sink a ship and it leaks a quart of oil a day in the ocean. The japanese bombed pearl harbor so
then the United States got involved. They made us get involved, had more troops, and we saved a lot
of lives.
The Japanese made the Americans get involved in world war 2. They were torturing a lot of Philippine
people and they ended up killing some of the people. The Japanese attacked a U.S. ship that was in the
pacific theater. They accepted any order even if it meant certain death for them. It was hard for the
U.S. to make any type of

Bhopal Chemical Report
Just after midnight on December 3, 1984, a pesticide plant in Bhopal, India had a chemical leak
accident. The chemical that was released into the air is called methyl isocyanate, or MIC, used to
make pesticides. This chemical is tremendously harmful and fatal to humans, livestock, and crops.
Only a short term exposure may cause death or unfavorable health effects. The slums of Bhopal and
its residents that surrounded the plant which were mostly affected by the gas suffered dearly. An
estimated 8,000 people dead and about 300,000 more suffering from its effects. Bloated carcasses of
cattle dotted the streets. Tree and plant leaves were yellow and brittle. Corpses littered the streets and
discovered behind locked doors, trapped in private ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
New people also arrive daily at the station seeking for jobs in the big city.
All over the place in Bhopal, religion is apparent. Hindus are seen praying to their gods for a safe trip.
They leave religious paintings, created with chalk, powder, and rose petals, on the floor of the station
(13). Eighty percent of Indians are loyal of Hinduism. Although the leading religion of India s people
is Hinduism, the majority of Bhopal s residents are Muslims.
Bhopal s Muslims worship mosques, and one of the biggest mosques in the world is the Taj ul
Masajid, which is located south of the city. They worship there five times a day to pray and also pray
at other numerous mosques around the city.
Muslims have always been in conflict with the Hindu majority (13). It all began when Muslims first
invaded India. And their disputes still continue today.
In India, there are three main classes of people: top, middle, and bottom class. The top class includes
people of such sort, such as managers and officials who work in government and industry, wealthy
businessmen, engineers, doctors, and other professions. They all live in a new section of the city, with
paved roads, and items that other unfortunate people don t have like air conditioning. These new and
modern glitters are created especially for them. And all of these is in the best location of Bhopal,

The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost Essay
The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost
In Robert Frost s The Road Not Taken, (reprinted in Laurence Perrine and Thomas R. Arp, Sound and
Senses, 8th ed. [San Diego: Harcourt, 1992] 23) the speaker stands in the woods, considering a fork in
the road. Both ways are equally worn, and equally overlaid with un trodden leaves. The speaker
chooses one, telling himself that he will take the other another day. Yet he knows it is unlikely that he
will have the opportunity to do so. And he admits that someday in the future he will recreate the scene
with a slight twist: he will claim that he took the less traveled road. The whole poem is an extended
metaphor, where Frost describes a path in the woods that is directly comparable to a major ... Show

Frost presents to the reader a man s decision, at a turning point in his life, symbolized by two roads
diverged in a yellow wood.
In the first line, Frost introduces the elements of his primary metaphor: the diverging roads. The
speaker expresses his regret that [he] could not travel both (line 2). The choice is not easily made since
long I stood (line 3) before coming to a decision. In an attempt to make a choice, the traveler examines
the path as far as [he] could (line 4), but his vision is limited because the path bends and is covered in
the undergrowth (line 5). Thus, indicating that although he would have liked to acquire more
information, he is prevented from doing so because of the nature of his environment. In lines 6 8, the
speaker is still unable to decide between the two paths since the other, [is] just as fair (line 6). He
indicates that the second path is a more attractive choice since it was grassy and wanted wear (line 8).
Nevertheless, by the end of the stanza, he remains ambivalent, even after comparing the two paths, for
each was really about the same (line 10). Neither path has been traveled lately. In the third stanza, the
speaker makes his decision, trying to persuade himself that he will eventually come back (line 15) to
satisfy his desire and curiosity to travel both paths. However, deep down, he admits to himself that

Summary Of Murnau s The Last Laugh
Friedrich Willhelm (F.W.) Murnau s The Last Laugh (1924) holds a special place within silent film
(Bordwell 2016). It is the film that made Murnau popular with American audiences, and in turn, its
success lead him to move to Hollywood and eventually make masterpieces (not to say that The Last
Laugh itself isn t a masterpiece), such as Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans (1927). Both films evoke
the surreality of life, but unlike the celebratory Sunrise¸ The Last Laugh laments life s predestined
nature. Murnau dramatizes this lamentation through the contrast of the real with the fanciful and
through his use of doors.
From the first shot, The Last Laugh manages to be both hyper realistic and utterly whimsical. We are
whisked down the elevator and out the constantly revolving door into a city, that while appearing to be
real at first, is just a painted backdrop. But Murnau spares no expense to fool the audience; he even
has figures moving inside the painted towers, which to the untrained eye cause the towers to seem
real. Alas, the towers are fake, but these moving figures serve a larger purpose than just to be a tool to
suspend the audience s belief. They add to the busy aesthetic of the The Last Laugh. The world
Murnau has created is a hectic one where One day you are preeminent, respected by all, as the
opening title announces, and the next you are a nobody, and before you know it, life has passed you
by. This is the case for our unnamed protagonist (Emil Jannings) who is now

We Need a Precise Definition of Terrorism Essays
We Need a Precise Definition of Terrorism
In early 1974, the Secretary General of the United Nations, U Thant, invited the Palestinian Liberation
Organization to attend the General Assembly gathering on November 13, 1974, and in doing so gave
legitimacy to the Palestinian Liberation Organization as a governing body. In Yasser Arafat s speech to
the General Assembly, he thanked the United Nations for recognizing his organization and its
legitimacy. When Arafat addressed the General Assembly, he made the argument that the actions taken
by his government were not acts of terrorism, but these were acts of revolution and their purpose was
to regain control of Palestine s occupied original territory. The problem we confront is, there is no ...

Arafat points out that this was the beginning of the creation of the illegal state of Israel. When the
United Nations General Assembly partitioned off the Palestinian land in 1948, the Palestinian people
rejected their planed creation of a Jewish State within their homeland. Even though the Palestinians
rejected their decision, the State of Israel was created and recognized as a sovereign nation by the
United Nations. Shortly after its creation, Israel began expelling Palestinians and Muslims from their
land and from their homes. The Palestinians that were able to remain within the borders of Israel were
treated as third class citizens (second class citizens were the Asians and Jews) and had to notify the
Israeli Military of all their movements. 1 This is when the people of Palestine began their efforts to
retake their land that rightfully belonged to them.
Arafat believed the actions taken by the Palestinian Liberation Organization against the Israeli
Government and agents of the government were not terrorist actions, but were revolutionary actions.
The injustice placed upon the Palestinian people by the Israeli Government justified the Palestinian s
the right to struggle. Yasser Arafat made it very clear that his cause/struggle is not with the Jewish
people but with the unlawful creation of the Jewish State. Arafat also claimed that his government
does not sanction actions taken by separatist groups within the Palestinian Liberation

Symbols In The Great Gatsby And Citizen Kane
The Great Gatsby and Citizen Kane are both stories in which the main character wants to get back to
times before where they presently are. In both stories they have an object that symbolizes a time and
person they wish to be. For Gatsby it is the green light and for Kane it is Rosebud. What I want to
explore is what happens when theses symbols are no longer symbols, but memories. First I want to
talk about Gatsby, in the book the green light symbolizes Daisy, which we find out in the fifth chapter
when Nick and Daisy are at Gatsby s house after he has showed them all of his shirts. This is
important because for Gatsby, Daisy is a physical embodiment of a time when he was happier, and he
wants to go back to that time therefore he has to attain Daisy. The reason the green light represented
Daisy was because it was the closest Gatsby could get to her from the other side of the bay it was
something he could look at every night and reminisce on what he wants to make his future.
Consequently, when Gatsby is telling Daisy and Nick how you can typically see the green light on her
dock the significance of the light vanishes and he becomes absorbed at the idea of the death of light to
where he doesn t notice the physical embodiment of his happy time is in his reach. For example, it s
like setting the goal of getting into UT so you hang a poster in your room to represent the idea, and
then you go for a visit but the whole time you re thinking of the poster because it was all you had

Still Alice Humanism Analysis
Linus Pauling said, (that) Humanism is a philosophy of joyous service for the greater good of all
humanity, of application of new ideas of scientific progress for the benefit of all (1961). From this
speech, it displays the main them of humanism and it also inspires a several ways to many people. In
the novel Still Alice by Lisa Genova 2007, the concept of humanism influences on her perception.
This concept is a moral philosophy which mainly focuses on the value or of human being. It uses the
logical reasoning to improve the ability of human being and to understand the world. Humanism is
seemingly to looking forward to science. As a result, in Still Alice novel manifests a lot of elements of
humanism whether it be human rights, rational life and progressive philosophy of life which are three
main elements of humanism.
The idea of human rights is one of the significant elements of humanism. For example, John Howland
got promoted at work. So, he had to move to New York while Alice did not want to go to New York.
They tried to convert each other but it cannot change their own decisions. Thus, in the end of the novel
(P.325), John moved to New York and Alice still lived in Cambridge. From this, it reveals about
human rights and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Based on the DMOZ s data in 2016, humanism claims that god is totally absent. The answer of
survival of human race is not related to god. Humanists believe in the ability of human being rather
than supernatural. To illustrate, when Alice became a patient of Alzheimer s disease, she did not go to
church for praying to god. She accepted the reality and struggled with her bad disease. So, Alice
seemed to against god can be parts of humanism. From this, it supports the element of humanism that
everything is rational not supernatural because in the end of the story there are no magic items which
can bring Alice s memory

  • 2. Case Study Vaginal Hysterectomy In this case study I am going to critically analyse the intraoperative journey of a fictitious patient, facilitating a panoramic view of patient care, values of the National Health Service and enhancing a holistic approach. The use of a fictitious patient allows for maintenance of confidentiality in line with professional s standards (College of Operating Department Practitioners, 2009). For clarity and to enhance structure the fictitious patient shall be referred to as Mrs Bird. Mrs Bird is a 35 year old female, a mum of twin boys who are seven years of age. She is a primary school teacher by profession and has been experiencing menstrual cramping and heavy menstrual bleeding. She is currently taking non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first abdominal hysterectomy was first performed by Charles Clay in Manchester in 1843 even though the initial procedure was to remove an ovarian tumour, the patient coughed and extruded a huge uterine fibroid through the incision. He had no choice but to perform a subtotal hysterectomy, unfortunately the patient died a few hours later. Surprisingly in the same year another surgeon Heath had the same situation happen to him and the patient died from post operative blood loss. The following year Charles Clay attempted another hysterectomy procedure and almost succeeded, but the patient died post operatively after fifteen days having fallen out of bed. Nevertheless, Ellis Burnham from Lowell, Massachusetts successfully achieved the first abdominal hysterectomy, but diagnosis was wrong, he thought he was removing an ovarian cyst. However, Kimball who was also from Massachusetts carried out the first hysterectomy for a fibroid tumour with the patient surviving the operation. The most common reason for performing hysterectomy is to cure uterine fibroids, but however, The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) stated that total abdominal hysterectomy should be considered as a last option for fibroids and that woman should be told about other treatments which are less drastic surgical procedures. Mrs Bird is health and fit with no other presenting issues besides her current problem. It is important for Mrs Bird to understand the changes her body will go through after the operation. Her medical history indicates that she has normal and stable physiological status, a chest x ray was performed to examine any abnormalities in her lungs, electrocardiograms was performed to access her heart before the operation. • 3. Pinckney Pinchback Chapter Summary In one incident, a minister was fleeced for all of his cash while his ship was docked at Natchez, MS, a popular gambling destination. Obviously, a man of the cloth was compelling victim for the ship s captain, John Russell. Russell, along with his crew, confronted the grifters, but they initially refused to return the money. However, the card cheats decided to return the money to the minister after Russell threatened to tear down the gambling hall by dragging it into the river attached to his boat. These kinds of tales were fairly commonplace and the people who benefitted the most from restrictive gambling laws were the card cheats or card sharps. The farmer convinced Hall that he would hold the winnings and give it back to the drunk once he sobered up. • 6. Summary Of Parmenide In just 20 lines in section 11.8 of his poem, Parmenides gives at least three arguments for why what is is ungenerated. I will present and explain each argument, the first two briefly and the last at more length because I consider his third argument to be his most comprehensive. Last, I will address his explanation of why what is is imperishable. Argument 1. Any given thing requires a reason to be generated, including what is (supplied) It makes no sense to say that a reason suddenly existed for what is to be generated (11.8, 9 10) Therefore what is was not generated (11.8, 11) This argument takes place in the space of just a few lines, in which Parmenides poses a question what need would have roused it, later or earlier, to grow, having begun from nothing? (11.8, 9 10). It here refers to what is. He assumes that everything has a reason to be generated some specific need but he cannot see why this reason would suddenly appear. The phrase later or earlier might point to how difficult it is to believe that at an arbitrary moment in time what is suddenly had a reason to spring into existence. If no such need could have appeared, then what is could not have been generated. Parmenides applies this argument specifically to what is being generated from what is not, or having begun from nothing (11.8, 10). And the argument certainly does seem to challenge the idea of generation from nothing, but I have left it neutral as regards the source of what is in my reconstruction here. I did this because I believe he can also apply Argument 1 to challenge the idea of generation from what is, not only from what is not. It should apply to both because the only way to say that what is is not generated is to show that it is generated from neither what is not, nor what is. More on this in Argument 3. Argument 2. Someone or something must bring any given thing, including what is, into existence (supplied) No one can make anything come into existence (11.8, 12) Therefore what is cannot be generated (11.8, 13 14) This is a difficult argument to suss out, especially since once again it takes place in only three lines. But he says that the force of conviction cannot make anything come to be out of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Difference Between Bisimulation And Forced Simulation Literature Review: The difference between Bisimulation and Forced Simulation Haowei Zheng hzhe024@aucklanduni.ac.nz 1. INTRODUCTION Currently, component reuse techniques have become more and more important for handling the rapidly increasing complexities of component based embedded system. Bisimulation is a well known technique which has been proposed in the very early stage of simulation development. It provides the functionality of checking for process equivalent in process algebras. Many applications have been developed by using this technique. However, there are still some issues regarding using bisimulation technique. One specific issue is component matching problem. To better resolve this problem, a new technique which is called forced simulation is proposed and developed. In this article, we will carry out a literature review to discover the difference between forced simulation technique and bisimulation technique. In the following sections, first of all the component matching problem will be explained more detailed. Then the definition of bisimulation and forced simulation will be shown. After that, an example of these two different techniques will be shown for comparing the difference between them. 2. COMPONENT MATCHING PROBLEM In component based embedded system, component reuse methodologies has been an important focus of industry since the complexities of modern embedded system are increasing rapidly. Having been put on the web, this article can possibly connect with a substantially more extensive scope of watchers. Individuals of all races, ages, financial statuses, and convictions are on the web every day. My idea on this picture, is that it was planned for a crowd of people outside of the United States since it appeared on a site that had ads from around the globe. • 9. Moving-Average Temperature Equations It is difficult to apply any meaning to this variability from the moving average temperature but someone could make reasonable assumptions about why this difference in variability exists. One such assumption could be because you cannot give the entire globe a single temperature. It is, naturally, an aggregation of many localized temperatures, which must be averaged or at least used to calculate a median to negate the effect of outliers. The aggregated global calculation inherently smooths out the impacts of localized variances on the variability of the overall global value. Given these values, we can be reasonably certain that the regression model represented by the trend line better fits the global temperature data than the model for the Seattle temperature data. This matches the observation we can see in the graph of greater dips and rises in the line representing the data set. It is reasonable to assume that, with more data, we may be more likely to see a change in the direction of the trend line for Seattle (at only 68% fit) than we would for the global trend line. This may affect data trends regarding how Seattle warms in relation to the rest of the globe. Observation Summary: We should continue to collect data over time in order to see if a better fit emerges and the trend line changes. Aggregated Interpretation of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. ‘Business’ and Its ‘Environment’ Business and Its Environment Introduction  Every business organization has to interact and transact with its „environment‟.  The effectiveness of interaction of an enterprise with its environment primarily determines the success or failure of a business.  The environment imposes several „constraints‟ on an enterprise and has a considerable impact and influence on the scope and direction of its activities. The enterprise, on the other hand, has very little control over its environment.  The business environment presents two challenges to the enterprise, viz., the challenge to combat the environmental threats (such as intensification of competition, declining market etc.) and to exploit the business opportunities.  The basic job ... • 12. Watching TV Does More Harmful Things to People than Good... Watching TV is an experience that most people do for almost all the time. Some people believe that watching TV does more good things to people than harmful things, but other people say that it does more harmful things to people than good things. The people who say that TV does more harmful things than good things are doctors who know about things that are good and bad in people s health and the people who say that TV is good for you are the people who watch a lot of TV. Since doctors can help cure people and know what is good for people, this would mean that the doctors are correct about TV harming people than the people who watch a lot of TV who believe that TV can do good things to other people. Watching TV does more harmful things to people than good things because it can cause them people to imitate bad behavior on TV, it can cause people to have health problems, and that it can people s time away from doing activities that help them become successful in their life. People who watch a lot of tv think that they are not harmed by the TV but this however is not true. Doctors who know what s good for people say that watching TV can cause a lot of harm to people since it can cause people to have behavior problems and can cause them to not feel well from their health. One way that TV can do more harmful things than good things is that it can cause people who watch a lot of TV to imitate bad behavior on TV. According to KidsHealth.org, it said that TV ... • 17. The Symbolism Of Silent Sam The official entrance to the campus of the University of North Carolina is a green field called McCorkle Place. In the middle of this field on a pedestal, a large bronze statue, Silent Sam, stands. Silent Sam was requested by the North Carolina chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy in 1908, to memorialize the 300 UNC students who died fighting for the Confederacy during the civil war. Since the statue s completion in 1913, Silent Sam has had many meanings to many different people around Chapel Hill. In the 1960s, debates over Silent Sam s symbolism and place on UNC s campus gained public attention for the first time. To this day, protests, demonstrations, writings, and debates both for and against the statue have drawn in students and community members. Julian Shakespeare Carr was a Confederate veteran who gave a commencement speech at the unveiling of Silent Sam in 1913. Silent Sam, along with many other Confederate monuments, was built during the height of the Jim Crow laws in the South. Carr himself was a self described architect of Jim Crow, envisioning an all white North Carolina. The anti black sentiments of the South at the time and of he himself, are evident in Julian Carr s commencement speech on June 2nd, 1913 as he alludes to his memory One hundred yards from where we stand of having horse whipped a negro wench... because upon the streets of this quiet village she had publicly insulted and maligned a Southern lady... After my first thought, my mind floods with many other people who I consider great leaders but my Grandparents are always the first that I think of as great leaders. My Grandpa taught me about hard work, respect, the importance of family, and the ability to understand you may not always get along so you have to learn to compromise sometimes. My Grandma taught me how to love, give to others, cook, and provide for ourselves and others with what we have available. One of the most important thing my Grandparents taught me though was, to have a passion and put one hundred percent into it. My Grandpa with his love of music and entertaining people with playing music and my Grandma with her love of sewing and making beautiful dresses and quilts. I spent many nights and days with my Grandparents and often see them as playing the biggest role in the person I turned out to be. When it comes to personal values and morals, I ve shaped most of mine from what they have shown me. Although we disagree politically, I learned so much from them about what it means to be a great leader. They taught me honesty, even when it gets myself in trouble. The Second World War (WWII) was a devastating global war that lasted from 1939 to 1945, causing struggle and suffering across much of the world s nations. During this period, technological developments increased significantly and advancements in every field of war were emerging quickly and leaving huge impressions. New inventions and scientific principles emerged during WWII in fields such as weaponry, communications and effective defensive means that helped lead the allies to total victory. Allied weapons technology developed at a rapid rate during WWII and was crucial in overpowering the German and associated forces. Developments in tanks, bombs and other weapons across many allied states, contributed to their victory. New communication technology meant that forces could crypt and encrypt secret messages and detect enemy forces from never seen before distances, making the idea of surprise attack virtually impossible. Defensive technology, although not necessarily considered as a large part of the war effort, played a crucial role in protecting the allied countries from invasion or surrender and ultimately helped defeat the axis forces. Defensive systems were implemented by the allied countries including Chain Home and the Maginot line that helped win back control. The speaker chooses one, telling himself that he will take the other another day. Yet he knows it is unlikely that he will have the opportunity to do so. The choice is not easily made since long I stood (line 3) before coming to a decision. In an attempt to make a choice, the traveler examines the path as far as [he] could (line 4), but his vision is limited because the path bends and is covered in the undergrowth (line 5). In lines 6 8, the speaker is still unable to decide between the two paths since the other, [is] just as fair (line 6). He indicates that the second path is a more attractive choice since it was grassy and wanted wear (line 8). Nevertheless, by the end of the stanza, he remains ambivalent, even after comparing the two paths, for each was really about the same (line 10). Neither path has been traveled lately. In the third stanza, the speaker makes his decision, trying to persuade himself that he will eventually come back (line 15) to satisfy his desire and curiosity to travel both paths. • 30. Summary Of Murnau s The Last Laugh Friedrich Willhelm (F.W.) Murnau s The Last Laugh (1924) holds a special place within silent film (Bordwell 2016). It is the film that made Murnau popular with American audiences, and in turn, its success lead him to move to Hollywood and eventually make masterpieces (not to say that The Last Laugh itself isn t a masterpiece), such as Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans (1927). Both films evoke the surreality of life, but unlike the celebratory Sunrise¸ The Last Laugh laments life s predestined nature. Murnau dramatizes this lamentation through the contrast of the real with the fanciful and through his use of doors. From the first shot, The Last Laugh manages to be both hyper realistic and utterly whimsical. We are whisked down the elevator and out the constantly revolving door into a city, that while appearing to be real at first, is just a painted backdrop. But Murnau spares no expense to fool the audience; he even has figures moving inside the painted towers, which to the untrained eye cause the towers to seem real. Alas, the towers are fake, but these moving figures serve a larger purpose than just to be a tool to suspend the audience s belief. They add to the busy aesthetic of the The Last Laugh. The world Murnau has created is a hectic one where One day you are preeminent, respected by all, as the opening title announces, and the next you are a nobody, and before you know it, life has passed you by. This is the case for our unnamed protagonist (Emil Jannings) who is now ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When the United Nations General Assembly partitioned off the Palestinian land in 1948, the Palestinian people rejected their planed creation of a Jewish State within their homeland. Even though the Palestinians rejected their decision, the State of Israel was created and recognized as a sovereign nation by the United Nations. Shortly after its creation, Israel began expelling Palestinians and Muslims from their land and from their homes. • 33. Symbols In The Great Gatsby And Citizen Kane The Great Gatsby and Citizen Kane are both stories in which the main character wants to get back to times before where they presently are. In both stories they have an object that symbolizes a time and person they wish to be. For Gatsby it is the green light and for Kane it is Rosebud. What I want to explore is what happens when theses symbols are no longer symbols, but memories. First I want to talk about Gatsby, in the book the green light symbolizes Daisy, which we find out in the fifth chapter when Nick and Daisy are at Gatsby s house after he has showed them all of his shirts. This is important because for Gatsby, Daisy is a physical embodiment of a time when he was happier, and he wants to go back to that time therefore he has to attain Daisy. The reason the green light represented Daisy was because it was the closest Gatsby could get to her from the other side of the bay it was something he could look at every night and reminisce on what he wants to make his future. Consequently, when Gatsby is telling Daisy and Nick how you can typically see the green light on her dock the significance of the light vanishes and he becomes absorbed at the idea of the death of light to where he doesn t notice the physical embodiment of his happy time is in his reach. For example, it s like setting the goal of getting into UT so you hang a poster in your room to represent the idea, and then you go for a visit but the whole time you re thinking of the poster because it was all you had ...
