2. Inaccuracies In Pearl Harbor
The film Pearl Harbor is historically inaccurate in its portrayal of weaponry, inventions, and sequence
of events during the occurrence of Pearl Harbor.
In the film Pearl Harbor the army uses E Hawkees, which in actual history of Pearl Harbor E
Hawkeyes hadn t been allowed to be used my the military until 1960 s. In the article it discusses how
the H hawkeye which are fighter planes, are used in the United States for in the air force but were
never used in the 40 s because they had not been invented yet. In contrast they did use other planes

5. American Fur Trade
There are a plethora of news sites, organizations, and establishments, all within the American fur
trade, that enjoy deceiving the general public with claims of a humane and safe fur trade. While these
claims seem to hold credibility, they fall flat once challenged with heavy evidence of cruelty and peril.
The fur trade should be outright banned from the United States as it excludes humane methods of
euthanasia, utilizes wretched methods of confinement, and as it acts as an extreme health hazard.
Trappers, farmers, retail stores, and any individual who accommodates this cruelty, fails to take into
consideration the lives of millions of animals, as well as their own health.
Although the evidence against statements of humane treatment and euthanasia ... Show more content

Because of the fact that fur sheared from a dead animal will rot, manufacturers fight off decay through
the application of a slew of chemicals that are designed to prevent decomposition. The main
processing chemicals used are formaldehyde and chromium which are both linked to cancers, such as
leukemia. In addition, the Environmental Protection Agency, or EPA, in the United States, has
previously fined six fur processing plants for causing high levels of pollution and for using solvents in
fur dressing that may cause respiratory problems... (Hoskins, Tansy. Is the Fur Trade Sustainable? The
Guardian. Guardian News and Media, 29 Oct. 2013. Web. 20 Mar. 2016.). Even more unacceptable is
the fact that fur production is unregulated. This leads to the incorrect labeling of fur clothing which
essentially leaves consumers ignorant about the severe chemicals that are exposed. This horrid fashion
statement not only threatens animals, even those that existed in tremendous numbers, with extinction,
but also threatens consumers with respiratory issues and cancer. Essentially, both humans and animals
encounter ultimate death as it has been found that fur clothing contains carcinogens, which is any
substance that is directly involved in causing cancer. Altogether, it is more than apparent that the
hazardous fur trade causes a greater amount of harm than good.

6. Darell Miller Observation
My clinical observation took place at Christus Trinity Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler, Texas
involving a mini mitral valve replacement procedure. This location is not a teaching institution,
therefore there are no clinical instructors nor students. The acting perfusionist in the procedure was
Darell Miller under the direction of cardiothoracic surgeon Neeland Doolabh M.D.
The circuit setup consisted of a closed system produced by Medtronic. It included a Biofinity
oxygenator, soft shell venous reservoir bag, 3/8 inch arterial line by 1/2 inch venous line AV loop, as
well as a Myotherm cardioplegia set. Plasmalyte A was the priming solution of choice for this

seemed as if the patient s heart wasn t the only thing being stopped, but the entire world as well.
Everyone in the room waited, watching the EKG, the patient, the patient s heart as well as the
perfusionist. This seemed to me as a very interesting approach, but due to the delicate precision and
vitality associated with this crucial time, it seemed very understandable. As Darell was on pump, it
seemed as if he was in the zone but completely aware of any changes and all surroundings. He was a
man with a mission. He stuck to protocols running ACTs, Charting, and assessing patient status the
entire procedure. He was constantly performing sweeps of all equipment and monitors during the
entire procedure, and if there were any changes he knew about them and reacted accordingly. His
multitasking abilities shined greatly during the operation. A specific moment that stood out to me was
his ability to recognize when an ACT was completed without turning around to look at the machine as
well as continuing to monitor everything necessary to continue a successful pump run. Their group ran
ACTs in the room on a Hepcon located on the perfusion cart in their own corner of the room, which
was also the same side that they pumped on. In their wheeling chairs, they would roll back and forth
running heparin assays and ACTs and then be back within no time to continue their duties. The only
test that required assistance were blood gases which were carried about by another member of the
perfusion team in the sub sterile room correlating to each

8. Logos In The Declaration Of Independence
What were Thomas Jefferson s, Alexander Hamilton s, John Jay s, and James Madison s reasons
behind the United States historical government documents? During the time period of the founding
father s the American colonies were barely starting to form a government and it had its flaws and they
still had to deal with gaining their independence from Great Britain. The Declaration of Independence
written by Thomas Jefferson was written to give reasons to why the American colonies are going to
separate from Great Britain. Hamilton, Jay, and Madison wrote the Federalists Papers to try and
convince the people of the American colonies to ratify the new constitution. In the Declaration of
Independence, Jefferson gives logical reasoning and also emotional reasoning through the type of
words he uses and in the Federalists Papers they use logical reasoning and their credibity to convince
the people. When Thomas Jefferson writes the Declaration of Independence he writes it to explain
why the American colonies will be separating from Great Britian. He does that by using logos. An
example of this from the Declaration of Independence is when he writes about the king of Great
Britain changing things. For taking away our Charters, abolishing our most valuable Laws, and
altering fundamentally the Forms of our Governments: . This passage explains some of the reasons
why they separate from Great Britain, Jefferson uses actual facts so that Great Britain can t deny it.
Through out the entire declaration he uses logos to back up why the American colonies leave. He
doesn t want people to think they are leaving just for no reason.
In the Federalists Papers No.10 James Madison explains all the things that the Union promised, but
how they never kept the promise. He explains this by using logos. In the Federalists Papers No.10 he
gives his knowledge on the situation of the government and explains how even the people realize the
government is messed up. Complaints are everywhere heard from our most considerate and virtuous
citizens, equally the friends of public and private faith, and of public and personal liberty, that our
governments are too unstable, that the public good is disregarded in the conflicts of rival parties, and

10. The Speech By Tony Porter
In class we were shown a recording of the speech, A call to men . The first thing I noticed was the
title, which made me immediately assume it was going to be a female speaker that was going to speak
about feminism; or something along those lines. To see a man giving the speech grabbed my attention
instantly. The man giving the speech was Tony Porter, and his audience was mostly women, who
made me think, Is this guy going to be giving a speech about feminism? While listening to his speech
I felt guilty for being quick to judge, because his speech was actually about growing up as a male, and
being masculine is today s society. While Tony Porter was giving his speech, he brought up stories that
without a doubt every guy in our class could relate to that left many of us saying, Wow . Tony
introduced to the audience where he grew up like a normal speech. He dressed well, and spoke
confidently. After stating where he grew up, he immediately dove into his concept called the, Man box
requirements to be a man that most fathers tell their boys. In less than a minute from when Tony began
his speech he stated, Growing up as a boy we was taught that men had to be tough, had to be strong,
had to be courageous, dominating, no pain, no emotions with the exception of anger, and definitely no
fear... I am sure that every guy has had their father tell them this like this or along these lines. He also

11. Mother To Son By Langston Hughes Analysis
Mother To Son by Langston Hughes
The poem I chose is called Mother to Son by Langston Hughes which describes her life as no crystal
stair . The poem begins with the mother telling her son about her life and how it was no crystal stair (
1). She then goes on to tell him how her stairs were broken, bare, and torn up, but they still take her
somewhere and that they were still climbing. The mother tells the son So boy, don t you turn back.
Don t you set down on the steps. Cause you finds its kinder hard. Don t you fall now For I se still goin
, honey, I se still climbin (14 19). While reading this poem I noticed how the speaker, the mother, had
a determined attitude about not stopping and climbing. Since she is talking to her son, she wants him
to succeed and although he may not have come from wealth and prosperity, that does not mean that he
has to fail. In the poem, it seems like the speaker is wise and knows that even if someone has
disadvantages and struggles, it does not mean that they can t have a future. The tone changes when the
mother tells her son how she has not had a good life or no crystal stair to that even though she doesn t
have good stairs, doesn t mean she can t move forward and climb. ... Show more content on

15. Comparing Beowulf To The Greek Culture
Greek literature portrays many great heroes with many different traits and values. I would like to
compare the Anglo Saxon culture represented by Beowulf to the Greek culture portrayed by Achilles.
Both men show many values, but they seem to show those values with different traits. These stories
have different battles between the heroes and their enemies, this makes a big difference in the
response of these men. Beowulf shows great bravery towards his enemies and problems placed in
front of him. He also likes to help other people such as Hrothgar without any expected reimbursement.
Beowulf States My people have said, the wisest, most knowing and best of them, that my duty was to

Where Beowulf Fights for others and keeps a calm and collective mind he doesn t let emotion effect
his decisions. Achilles is more self centered; he doses wish to avenge his cousin s death he lets
emotion get in the way of the correct decision. This is described with the quote, I must reject this life,
my heart tells me, reject the world of men, if Hector does not feel my battering spear tear the life out
of him, making him pay in his own blood for the slaughter of Patroclus (The Iliad 26 30). This
statement alone represents Achilles passion for revenge. Also how he allows his anger the drive his
decisions. In the Excerpt after line 71 in the Iliad it states Achilles chases Hector around the walls of
his Kingdome three times just to avenge Patroclus. This is a large amount a bravery Achilles shows by
facing death to defile his best man s killer. This is a clear similarity of great bravery by both heroes.

17. Richard Wright s The Library Card
Every person in life faces a number obstacle that he/she either conquers or the obstacles conquer that
person. In the two essays, Learning to Read and Write by Frederick Douglass and The Library Card by
Richard Wright, the two authors face many obstacles in their lives. Frederick Douglass is a slave who
has a desire to gain knowledge regardless of the circumstances and obstacles. Richard Wright is an
African American man who lives in the South during the Jim Crow Laws and also has a yearning to
attain more information about the life he lives. A previous EOF student, Rakiyah Johnson s reaction to
the essays written by Frederick Douglass and Richard Wright is that Douglass suffered far worse
difficulties than Wright did. On the contrary, there are facts, which proves that the two men, Douglass
and Wright suffered equal obstacles throughout their quest to gain knowledge. The obstacles consist of
society s restriction of knowledge to African Americans; the idea of Frederick Douglass and Richard
Wright became ostracized; and the gained knowledge left the two authors with awareness, which
brought distress in their lives. In a quest to acquire knowledge, Frederick Douglass and Richard
Wright faced an obstacle, which comprise of society s restriction of knowledge to African Americans.

because many Whites believed if African Americans were educated, Blacks would outsmart them.

the advertisements during the program, these effects could be either negative or positive. When

children, the show teaches children lessons on social and emotional situations. Fetch! on the other
hand, is a competition TV show, where 6 kids compete in different science and technology themed
challenges, that help out their animated host Ruff Ruffman. When I compared the shows using the

20. Types Of Cross Curricular Instruction
Introduction There are several types of cross curricular instruction that teachers can use in today s
classroom. Comprehension strategies are a very important concept in cross curricular instruction. In
Chapter 12 of the Birsh text, Eileen Marzola quotes Gough (1996) and Torgesen (1998) to state that
two essential tools required for good reading comprehension are strong general language
comprehension and accurate, fluent word reading skills. Using these skills in different contexts is
some time difficult for struggling readers. Struggling students do not always have the ability to know
what strategy to use or when it is appropriate to use such strategy. During my time student teaching in
first grade, we used several reading concepts that included, get your mouth ready, or did it sound right,
to teach students to read during guided reading lessons. However, it was difficult for these young
readers to use these concepts in different lessons throughout the day.
Parallel Curriculum Integration Cross Curriculum instruction becomes very important for these
students. One such method is Parallel Curriculum Integration. In this type of integration, teachers from
different subject areas use the same theme. In an elementary classroom, students often experience this
approach at learning centers. For a theme such as patterns, each learning center has an activity that
allows the students to explore patterns from the perspective of one discipline math, language, science,

that and more. Most people would argue that other musicals are better, but where are you going to find
one with brains and talent, one that teaches, and is world widely moving by its positive effective role
in racism. The musical Hamilton is convivial and it is all around amazing. Hamilton has won 11

Although Paulson, Kaplan, and Schussler have very good points about Hamilton, there are some
unfortunate things about the musical. Rebecca Onion author of, A Hamilton Skeptic on Why the Show
Isn t as Revolutionary as it Seems says, It s still white history. And no amount of casting people of
color disguises the fact they re erasing people of color from the actual narrative. Although Hamilton
plays a part in making colored men and women happy, some people see that nothing really changes
the fact they added different races in the musical. In Hamilton, if you listen closely to the words they
sing there is a lot of foul language in it. With that being said, it eliminates the opportunity for little
kids to enjoy let alone watch the musical. Another reason why Hamilton has an unfortunate twist to it
is because of the reflections that Alexander Hamilton puts on the men he is fighting against, making
people think that everything was their fault. This is a problem because of certain people watching the
play, they might be for the men he and his army were going against. Despite the setbacks of Hamilton,
you can learn from this play without even being aware of

22. The Day Of My Grandfather
From the moment we are born, we begin to die. This is a piece of information we all learn in life but
for some, we learn this lesson too soon. When I was 12 years old, I learned that my grandfather was
very sick with a threatening illness that would snatch the air from his lungs. My grandfather had Stage
IV lung cancer. Over the course of the Summer of 2006, I watched the once statuesque man that was
my grandfather grow frail and disappear before my eyes. If I was not in his home, we were at the
hospital or doctor s office running test after test. Each time a different angel with scrubs, better known
as a nurse, would come into his room to check on him. Whenever these angels were around, I felt a
sense of calm come over the room. Being ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They explained that cancer is a rapid growing disease that may eventually cause him to pass away. I
was confused and had never experienced death before. I did not, at the moment, understand the
magnitude of what was occurring around me. Everyday life continued without a blip. My grandparents
and I would go to the movies, the beach, and to local diners. The first few weeks were filled with
laughs and love until one day my grandfather collapsed while out at the store with my grandmother
and me. The ambulance came to take him to the local hospital where he was admitted and later seen
by his oncologist who told him that he did not have much time left. I started to understand what was
happening and had a nurse hold my hand while I cried in the hallway. I was scared for the unknown
for him and my family. What would the world be like without my grandfather in it? , Who would be
there to take care of my grandmother? a million questions darted through my head but I felt the
uncontrollable need to always be strong in his presence.
The end of summer was filled with an endless cycle of doctors appointments and hospital visits. Each
time a different nurse would grace my family with their presence. They always had skillful hands
when drawing blood and a gentle touch when comforting one of my family members. I would spend
much of my time talking to these unbelievably kind people and they always had just that extra
moment to spare for me. On August 4th, 2006, on the

Directly or indirectly, financial reporting measurements of performance and financial position affect
almost everyone. They help to determine whether a business is regarded as a failure or a success,
whether its employees earn a bonus, whether they keep their jobs, what dividends investors receive,
and how much tax the business pays. In the context of measurement, the aspiration expressed by Sir
David Tweedie, the Chairman of the IASB, is an appealing one: The real objective is to have one
single set of accounting standards, so it doesn t matter whether a transaction takes place in any part of
the world, we ll account for it the same way. The significant role of Measurement First and foremost,

the definition of measurement, and in the case of Campbell, Measurement is: The assignment of
numerals to represent properties of material systems other than numbers, while Stevens suggests that it
is: The assignment of numerals to objects or events according to rules. (Stevens, 1946) Generally,
most theorists agree upon the definition of Measurement as the linking of formal number system to
some properties, or objects and events under a chain of semantic rules. In the case of Accounting,
these rules are indicated by transactions. In other words, Accounting is recorded on the

Competitive corporate environment it is important that companies pay attention to their employees
abilities to perform their duties. What is actually important is for companies to continuously study not
only how they can perform well for the customers but they also have to address the issue on how they

31. Elementary School Vs Middle School Research Paper
School is always extremely important in my town because it s a huge part of everybody s life. We
have 3 schools but 2 of them are really competitors, elementary school and middle school. The only
question is, which one is the best?
The first difference between my elementary and middle schools is the lunches. The lunches in
elementary school where short and the teachers didn t allow the kids to use forks. So, for example, if
you wanted to eat their pancakes, you needed to use a single spoon. However, in middle school you
get to choose what you want to use (except for knives) and choose what you want to eat. There is a
buffet style lunch line for food and you don t have to eat exactly what they make for lunch.
The next difference is P.E. Both schools have very similar classes for this but they are still different.
For example you played much more fun games in elementary ... Show more content on

computer lab was just learning how to type. Which, as you can imagine, both got extremely boring
after a semester. However, the middle school has a multitude of different classes and you get to pick 2
that you want to take. For example, you can take band, chorus, art, photo shop, horticulture, and a lot
more.
Field day is the day at the end of the year where kids get to have fun and celebrate because the year is
over. However, the field days are not very similar at all. In the middle school you walk to the park and
mess around there for a few hours. This makes the day extremely boring and you don t have any water
so in the hot may day you are sweating a lot and have nothing to drink. The elementary school,
however, has a much better field day. You get to play on the blacktop or the grass and they had
jumping pits and WATER. At the time it was very fun and Definitely better than the middle school s

Male Dishonor as Guilt and Shame in The Rape of Lucrece
Inasmuch as a woman s virginity or chastity is imagined as an object that can be owned, rape becomes
a property crime, consisting in the theft of a woman s virtue from its rightful owner, her male
guardian. Bernice Harris articulates this view with respect to Titus Andronicus: The definition of the
word is based on ownership: rape is an appropriate term only if what is taken is not rightfully owned
(388). The man who can claim ownership of a woman is subsequently dishonored when she is
violated: Honour, then, is a function of ownership (389).
While it is tempting to see the Shakespearean concept of rape entirely in such terms, such a view is

By contrast, the pagan humanist tradition, with its pantheon of capricious and often morally suspect
gods, upheld a highly public ideal of honor, whereby behavior could be regulated. Whereas guilt can
be either private or public, shame is necessarily a public affair. Guilt, as much a theological as ethical
construct, requires appropriate punishment, but shame requires simply appropriate action to eliminate
its source. Without dwelling on these distinctions, however, Williams argues that in the early modern
period these contradictory sets of values operated simultaneously, and it is this tension that informs the
often contradictory treatment of rape in such texts as Titus Andronicus and Lucrece.
In The Rape of Lucrece this tension is worked out in the portrayals of the two primary male
characters. The text is overtly concerned with the question of male honor, and the damage done to it
by the act of rape. Contradictory to the predictions of the rape=theft equation, however, it is not only
Collatine, the injured husband, who is depicted as dishonored by the crime. Rather than as a
conquering hero, the rapist Tarquin is himself depicted as dishonored by his crime. The different forms
of dishonor incurred by the two men, I will argue, result from the judgments
