The Ageing Population
Ageing population is a worldwide pattern; it has major implications for the way in which programs
designed to support older people are funded. While social security and means tested social assistance
programs for long term care protect the living standards of the poor, middle income groups face under
appreciated risks, such as outliving their capital or needing expensive long term care. This will cause
economic, social, and political implications of a rapidly ageing population, which will affect society
and businesses.
New Zealand, like many countries, has ageing population, with an increasing proportion of people in
the older age groups and a declining proportion of children. Many impacts such as increase in the
dependency ratio, increased government spending on health care and pensions, high taxes, shortage of
workers, changing sectors within the economy, and higher savings for pensions may reduce capital
investment can effect all societies. Since 1960, the proportion of the population under 15 years of age
has declined from around 33% and is expected to fall to 18% by 2031. (Statistics New Zealand, 2009)
According to New Zealand Parliament (2011), age population is a consequence of the baby boom
which occurred in New Zealand. Compare with other countries high fertility (the number of births per
woman) and improved infant survival rate in the decades after the end of World War Two. New
Zealand has one of the highest fertility rates in the developed countries, which have

What Chemistry Means to Me
What chemistry means to me and how it impacts upon my life
From the foods we eat and the medicines we take to the products we regularly use, our lives are
inextricably linked to chemicals and their operating principles.
Chemistry is everywhere. The air we breathe, the ground we stand on, the seas we sail, and the variety
of living things including our own bodies; all these are made of substances that we call chemicals.
These chemicals interact with one another, and, in many cases, these interactions produce new
substances through processes known as chemical reactions. Over time, in high school I have learned
much about chemicals and have mastered numerous chemical reactions, giving me the ability to
modify existing substances and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even the gas and tires in cars we drive, the makeup we put on our faces, the soaps and cleaners used
every day, burning wood or other fossil fuels, chemistry is all around you each and every day.
Chemistry is really an amazing subject and works hand in hand with all the other sciences to make
things work. According to Don Showalter he stated that each of these reactions between substances
illustrates a concept of the way matter behaves. According to Roald Hoffmann matter is neither
created nor destroyed.
Research and deduce from your findings which use of metals came first was it for weaponry or
jewelry
From my research that I have done there is no historical documentation, but the most likely metals are
copper and gold because they are both comparatively easy to find as natural ores, and are both soft
enough to use without forging equipment. Both metals were used by many ancient cultures for jewelry
and decorative uses; copper was also used for simple tools. Copper is perhaps one of the most
important elements for mankind, both due to its multiple uses and to its capacity to replace iron in
many cases. Starting with making objects out of copper and continuing, as mankind progressed, with
its use as a good electricity conductor and building material, copper was part of everyday life ever
since the copper age. Even today s world, despite new discoveries that brought about artificially made

What makes something invasive? Is it when the object takes over? When it reproduces to a great
extent? When it takes over all of your space? These are all aspects of an invasive thing. Invaders cause
other tiny problems along the path of their destruction that can be difficult to control. In Mark Sanchez
s, The Invaders, and Aaron Hartman s, Kudzu: From Pretty Vine to Invasive Pest , two plants, the
milfoil and kudzu, are taking over. These invasive weeds have more than just being invasive in
common with each other, they also share a hand full of dissimilarities. These plants have gobs of
similarities and differences between each other. To commence, the milfoil and kudzu share a lot of
common aspects. One thing the two relate with is

Teachers Expectations Influence Pupils Performance
This essay will look at whether teachers expectations influence pupils performance by discussing
areas such as classroom dynamics, student circumstances, teacher s beliefs and student/teacher
relationships. Through this analysis it will bring in concepts such as the self fulfilling prophecy , The
Hawthorne effect and Rosenthal s Pygmalion. Throughout the overall discussion it will utilise the
main authors and studies in this field whilst creating a balanced argument.
Before looking at the theories and studies that support the argument it is important to look at two
individual but interconnected factors that can influence pupils performance. Studies have found that in
some cases teachers develop their expectations based on reliable criteria, such as past academic
performance or classroom behaviour (Dusek Joseph, 1983). Moreover, research conducted by Rist
(1970) sheds light on the idea that teachers generally have a preconceived idea of what it takes for a
student to succeed academically, thus, explaining, the majority of teachers believe that there is an ideal
type of student who possess specific characteristics which will insure academic success. However
despite this, Dusek Joseph (1983) conducted an analysis of various studies in order to determine the
bases of this argument and found that gender and belonging to a one parent family were usually not
determinants of teacher expectations.
Another factor that can influence teachers expectations of a student is

The Department Of Labor Has Issued New Guidance On...
BACKGROUND: The Department of Labor has issued new guidance on differentiating between
employees and independent contractors.
ISSUE:
Issue #1: How does the new DOL guidance change the way in which employers classify employees
and independent contractors?
CONCLUSION:
Issue #1: The DOL has now rejected the common law control test utilized by the IRS and adopted the
economic realities test, saying that most workers are considered employees under the FLSA s broad
definition.
APPLICABLE LAW:
The DOL defines employ as to suffer or permit to work and has adopted the economic realities test to
determine whether an individual is an employee or an independent contractor. This test focuses on
whether the worker is economically dependent on the employer or legitimately in business for himself
(herself). This test involves six factors, but the DOL notes that they should not be applied in a
mechanical fashion but instead with an understanding that the factors are indicators of economic
dependence.
Courts have noted that the suffer or permit standard ensures as broad of a scope of statutory coverage
as possible and this broad coverage is essential to accomplish the Act s goal. This definition means
that an individual is dependent upon finding employment in the business of others, whereas
independent contractors are those workers with economic independence who are operating their own
business.
The six factors under the Economic Realities test are as follows:

Feste Twelfth Night
Essay 1
Feste is a typical Shakespearean fool in the Twelfth Night. Feste works for both Olivia and Duke
Orisino. He is shown as witty person who entertains everyone with his jokes, dancing and singing.
Fool s character is very ironic to his name because he is the wisest person in the whole Illyria who
outshines everyone with his humour and wit. In his presence the mood of the environment becomes
lighter and everybody have a good time. He moves easily between upper class and lower class in the
whole play. He disguise himself as Sir Topas which very unusual for a lower class man. He also
challenges the upper class hierarchy by working according to him and making fun of upper class
people even Olivia or Orisino, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Feste as the name suggests includes festivity and embodies the festive spirit perfectly. Besides humour
and wit he sings melodies and pictures the state of higher class people in the play. For example he
sings a song O Mistress Mine, where are you roaming? which depicts the wait for the true love. The
song could be applied to the love relationship between Orisino and Olivia and also between Olivia and
Cesario. The song suggests that Orisino s wait will be over when he could marry Olivia and Olivia s
journey would end when she gets Cesario. Another song would be Farewell, dear heart, since I must
needs be gone sung in the party by both Sir Toby Belch and Feste. The song ideally talks about
approaching death but in this case it is referred to Malvolio who is not liked by both Feste and Sir
Toby Belch. Malvolio has been compared to an evil or antagonist because of his rude behaviour
toward everyone including upper class people, also of his fondness for Olivia and a happiness spoiler
whereas he is just a steward. Because nobody likes Malvolio he is been asked to leave the party in a
comical and witty way which could be justified by the line said by Sir Toby Belch in Act 2 Scene 3
Shall I bid him go, and spare not and a reply from Feste O no no no, you dare

Symbolism In On The Waterfront
Symbolism means ideas, behavior, and characteristics because they relate to the essay called On the
Waterfront. But in the film, however, the pigeons, hooks, and a hanging crate is symbols too, which
represents the central theme of the film. The examples that symbolize the story are the pigeons which
represents Terry s life, the hooks which relates how awful the union is, and a hanging crate that
represent Terry s death. So, the main points of this essay are why Terry Malloy felt controlled by the
union, why Terry is so upset, and why Terry Malloy is a fighter. Pigeons are symbols that make Terry
Malloy feel controlled. Also, pigeons are beautiful creatures that can be seen from power lines and in
large fields too. When Terry Malloy works for the union, it was controlled by the MOB, and they took
the workers money for themselves. So, in the story, the pigeons relate to Terry s future because they
relate to peace and freedom which Terry, does make a statement about being like one because he says,
they got it made, they eat all they want, fly around like crazy, sleep side by side, and raise gobs of
squabs (On the Waterfront). The last part about pigeons is that they make Terry happy when he is off
work, and with them because he is away from the union and that he is not being controlled like a
slave. Hooks are the next symbol that makes Terry Malloy feel angry and this is because of the corrupt
union. What triggered his emotions is when Father Barry repeats the word

Evaluation Of A Project And The Developer
During the early steps of the projects until reaching commercial and financial close, the parties
initiating the project and the developer will have to make critical decision to structure the project. An
important part of the negotiation will focus on the risk allocation to the various stakeholders of the
project in order to satisfy the prim objectives and drivers of the parties involved and distribute the risk
to the party most able to manage and bear them.
The risk allocation will require some transfer of risk ownership between the parties developing the
project and third parties or other stakeholders in order to assign the risk identified to the party in the

In this regard, the recent researches and academic works tend to suggest some adjustment to the risk
allocation between the main parties public and private in order to achieve value for money in the
provision of a service.
Risk allocation in connection with the individual perspectives, goals and requirements of the various
project stakeholders
In the structuring phase of a project, the developers, whether directly or with the assistance of a
mandated advisor will develop a network of contract supporting the project initiative. If the project is
based on non recourse finance or limited recourse, the developer will aim to set a Special Propose
Company initially bearing all the risks involved in the project. Then, a set of contract to provide the
main components of the project purpose delivering a service required by the public sector. For
merchant project (service not required or tendered for the public service), most of the consideration
below will apply but the public entity will be substituted by the market needs. In this situation, the
private sector will directly contract with the SPV which is a private entity for the delivery of a service.
The developer and later the SPV will aim to allocate all the risk identified to third party involved in
the project through contract terms agreed for the scope of supply of the various contract. The main
transfer of risks are achieved via the key contract intending to secure the

Current Diagnostic Criteria For Angela s Manic Episode
Current diagnostic criteria for Angela s manic episode is described through criterion A D in the
following. Criteria A requires the individual to meet at least a one week period of distinct abnormal
and persistently elevated, expansive, or irritable mood and abnormal and persistently increased goal
directed activity or energy. Angela has currently been experiencing this particular episode for ten day
now and has demonstrated symptoms of increased activity for example the West Coast fight that the
booked and the amount of money she has put into textbooks. Criteria B requires that during this time
Angela must be experiencing at least three of the listed symptoms that represent a significant degree

Angela meets this particular requirement because of the delusions and hallucinations features and her
current need to be hospitalized because of the threat she is hearing from the voices to herself and the
verbal threats she is currently making to the counselor about placing a hit on him. Criteria D notes that
the physiological effects of the episode must not be attributed from substance use. According to the
narrative, Angela does have history of alcohol use and marijuana use but the narrative adds that her
current behaviors do not seem to be related to the episode. Additional v/z codes include topics that I
would want to bring up in counseling. For the code relating to Angela s personal history of self harm, I
feel as if this would be one of the primary topics that I would like to incorporate due to her tendencies
to make suicidal gestures with pills. I would like to explore more into her coping mechanisms and
ensure safety nets for future self harming thoughts and/or behaviors. I have also included the code
relating to Angela s psychosocial circumstances because I believe she is experiencing a clinically
significant discord with her parents and much of her delusions are focused on her irrational beliefs of
what her parents truly want for her for example, Angela believes that her parents only want to
hospitalize her for the disability

Law Enforcement Of The United States

Law Enforcement Imagine if there was no type of law enforcement code for a month in your city.
Crime rates will be at an all time high. People would have no sort of protection or stability. There
would also be no one to control the people; no one will ensure peace amongst the people. Thanks to
our police officers all of these possible dangerous situations are kept under control on a daily basis.
Police officers put their lives on the line each day to ensure peace and protection to the public.
Law enforcement has been around for centuries, providing aid and assisting the people. Communities
first developed watch systems composed of volunteers whose primary duty was to warn people of
impending danger. ( The History of Policing ) The law enforcement program in the United States
closely followed that of England at the time. Law enforcement in the United States began on April
1631 in Boston: Boston created a night watch in 1636, New York in 1658 and Philadelphia in 1700.
The night watch was not a particularly effective crime control device. Watchmen often slept or drank
on duty. While the watch was theoretically voluntary, many volunteers were simply attempting to
evade military service, were conscript forced into service by their town, or were performing watch
duties as a form of punishment. ( The History of Policing )
The program consisted of both appointed officers and volunteers. The tasks of these early officers

Wada Kansuke prevails over the rest due to his kinda and influence upon Murakami Harutomo.
Overall, I believe that Wada Kansuke is a better leader than Yoshitoki or Takeda Katsuyori because of
Kansuke s patience and support for Murakami Harutomo.

Man Against Nature In Jack London s To Build A Fire
Man against Nature: A Look Into To Build a Fire by Jack London
Introduction
The human being has in most instances tried to outdo nature through creativity and innovation. Man s
fight against nature is endlessly continuous and determined. It is of great significance that man
understands that this competition with nature in the face of such overwhelming odds is insignificant. A
clear cut example of this unproductive struggle is a story by Jack London, To Build a Fire whereby he
uses man versus nature to support his primary theme that our struggle against nature is vastly unequal
one that leaves little or no margin for error (London, 25).
To prove this theme Jack London, in his book puts a man in an environment he is unfamiliar with. In

the warning of the likely dangers of such cold weather, he had his argument. He in his mind stated, All
a man had to do was to keep his head, and he was all right (London, 71). Any man who was a man
could travel alone. In this instance, the man backing on his intellect and reasoning power to overcome
nature. The fact that he is unable to overcome the adverse weather conditions at his disposal is an
indication of why man cannot outwit nature. Despite his knowledge and reasoning ability, the man is
trapped, and even his attempts to light a fire to warm himself are thwarted by the same nature. He
freezes to the point that he cannot do anything.
The dog in the story is seen to be much concerned and worried about the weather than the man who
can think and make decisions. London says, But the animal sensed the danger. Its fear made it

therefore believed that the eruption of Lion s Haunch was enormous. The cone formed around the vent
consists of layers of lava, ash and agglomerate. The agglomerate usually falls back to the vent. As the
rock was rising, it eventually expanded above the water level. The later erption were therefore

Finding the right location is top priority for this project. The garage must not be far away from either
the shopping complex or the casinos. If it is the project may fail because it does not alleviate the
inconvenience of walking for the shoppers. The projected length of time for this project is 12 18
months. This takes the weather into account and gives ample time for any unforeseen problems with
suppliers, contractors, the city, and any permit problems.
Budget
The national average of a five level parking garage is approximately 145,000 square feet (Reed
Construction Data, 2012). The project will require the hiring of an architect and a contractor. The
architect duties will include creating a schematic design and draft floor plans, finalize drawings,
obtain necessary permits and serve as the development manager of the project. The contractor will
provide the services and materials need for the job and is responsible in hiring subcontractors. The
national average for the cost per square foot to build a five level parking garage is between $50 and
$70 (FixR, 2011). On average masons and excavators charge $70 per hour, electricians charge $65 to
$85 per hour and plumbers charge somewhere between $45 and $65 per hour, so this project will take
into consideration all of the hourly rates for all specialties (FixR, 2011). Taking from the national

The Ten Main Organs In The Digestive System
The digestive system has a track that is about nine meters long. The ten main organs in this system are
the mouth, oesophagus, liver, gallbladder, pancreas, stomach, small intestine, large intestine, rectum,
and the anus. Throughout the digestive system food that we eat is broken down, nutrients we need are
absorbed from this, and the waste materials left at the end are eliminated.
The digestive process begins at the mouth. When you eat food, obviously, it enters your mouth first.
Then, in the mouth mechanical digestion, the physical act of breaking down food, happens through the
means of your teeth. Chemical Digestion , the act of breaking down food through chemicals, also

The small intestine is the longest organ in this system as it is estimated at about four times your
height. This is where the most chemical digestion happens. The enzyme that breaks down fats in the
small intestine is called bile. Bile is produced in the liver, and stored in the gallbladder. Enzymes that
break down proteins, fats, and carbohydrates are the pancreatic enzymes as there are multiple different
ones. The liver, the gallbladder, and the pancreas are the three main organs in the digestive system in
which food does not pass through. The small intestine, however uses all these enzymes to break down
food chemically. Also, the small intestine has a lot of absorption. Absorption is the act of the digestive
system absorbing, or taking in, nutrients that our body needs. The small intestine is responsible for a
lot of absorption through finger like structures called villi. These villi also increase the surface area of
the small intestine allowing for maximum absorption and chemical digestion.
After the food leaves the small intestine it enters the large intestine. The large intestine s main job is to
absorb water. The direction of the large intestine is to go up, then right, down again, left once, and
finally down once

Clean was normal in the semi dry territories of Colorado when the high fields winds blew, so nobody

Persuasive Essay On Manifest Destiny
America is the home of the brave and land of the free. It s the continent known for the start of new
beginnings, and renewal of life. You are free to believe what you want, love who you wish, and be you
think you are designed to be. Although America may have many benefits that most countries and
continents don t, it came at a price. America had to fight her way to the top, and every constitutional
right was earned by the endurance and victories it took to make them possible. From a fledgling nation
that didn t have much hope to one that had the courage to proclaim Manifest Destiny America
definitely earned everything it has to offer.
From the beginning America has been a sort of safe haven. From when the pilgrims first decided to
cross the Atlantic, due to the dysfunctions of England. At the time England was very unfair to most of
its people. By not letting one rank up higher if the where at a lower class, or only letting the eldest of
the family inherit any land that the parents owned, leaving nothing to offer their other children. But
the biggest reason was that the Church of England wouldn t allow its people to worship God the way
the people felt was correct. So therefore they made the decision to cross over to America where they
would be free to start over again and worship God freely and how they felt was the accurate and
correct way to do so.
Although crossing over to America was the only option the pilgrims had if they wished to start anew
there would be risks that came with it. The risk of leaving their homes behind knowing that returning
wasn t exactly an option. Along with the fact that they didn t have an exact idea of where they were
going or where they would end up. They basically risked their lives just to be able to worship God
freely and for their families to not have to dwell under England s unfair rulings.
After crossing the relentless Atlantic with the tragic fact that some of their people were lost along the
way, they officially made it to America. They arrived in the land that was going to be the start of their
new lives, but it resulted in more than half of their population dead within the first few weeks of
winter. Even though they faced many difficulties they still

Methanol Exposure And Its Effect On The Fertility Of Biota...
Introduction A plant that produces alcohol as the main or by product sometimes experience failure or
did not properly manage their waste. The wastewater may be released to the water streams nearby and
affecting the environment and human. Some of alcoholic compound that are endangering the
environment is acetone, methanol and n propanol depending on the concentration. Acetone has a slight
toxicity when exposed to aquatic life and it caused membrane damage, a decrease in size and decrease
in germination of various agricultural and ornamental plants. Methanol may affect animals, birds and
fish, leading to their death. Exposure can also cause low growth rate in plants. Long term methanol
exposure can affect the fertility of biota and affect their appearance or behaviour ( National Pollutant
Inventory , 2016). Since alcohol is very volatile it is more practical to detect the compound using Gas
Chromatography (GC) instead of High Performance Liquid Chromatography. With hydrocarbon it is
suitable to use flame ionisation energy. In this experiment, GC that was used has the schematic
diagram as below: Figure 1: GC schematic diagram. Sheffield Hallam University (2016) Based on
Figure 1, the wastewater sample would be injected onto the injector port and with high temperature
about 200C the wastewater sample would be vaporized and forced through the capillary column that
has a temperature of 87C. Difference in polarity would determine the retention time of the compound
in the GC.

Sierra Leone Imperialism
Sierra Leone is one of the many countries that are on the coast of West Africa. A rich country fell
victim to barbaric people. Sierra Leone was named but not founded, by Portuguese sailor, Pedro de
Sintra. Sierra Leone was colonized by Great Britain in 1807 in Freetown, Sierra Leone. This was the
start of their rule over West Africa. Great Britain brainwashed, rapped, and robbed Sierra Leone.
Sierra Leone was robbed of their people by Great Britain, Portuguese, French, and Dutch before they
was officially colonized. Portuguese traders arrived at the harbor. By 1495 they had built a trading
post. Aaron Belisarius Cosmo Sibthorpe says in, The History of Sierra Leone, The Dutch and French

Ageing Population And The Aging Population
Introduce the topic of the aging population and the ways in which people are trying to look and feel
younger and healthier. The world is ageing rapidly. People aged 60 and older make up 12.3 per cent of
the global population, and by 2050, that number will rise to almost 22 per cent according to the United
Nations Population Fund (UNPF). In the United States of America, the older population defined as
persons 65 years or older numbered 46.2 million in 2014.They represented 14.5% of the U.S.
population, about one in every seven Americans. By 2060, there will be about 98 million older
persons, more than twice their number in 2014.

A Study On Eating Disorders

Many eating disorders are caused because of how the media glorifies them. In all the magazines all the

disorders may first appear to be solely about food and weight preoccupations , people suffering from
eating disorders often try to use food and the control of food to cope with feelings and emotions that

The dog would be fearful that they would get yelled at, grabbed, shaken, or even smacked. Times
since then have definitely changed and now, we use toys, treats, etc. Before, we motivated our dogs to
avoid being bad. ( Pippa:How To Motivate Your Dog) We now use motivators that the dogs want,
rather than what they are afraid of. Respect (although sounds like it would be a good motivator) is
really only a show of fear from dog to owner. The dog is afraid that they will get yelled at for
correction or there will be some kind of disapproval. Respect from the dog is a powerful tool, it s just
not a very useful/sufficient tool.
However, some of the most powerful working motivators include food no surprise there but that is
what dogs love most. Long ago, dogs used to have to hunt in order to get their food. Since they have
evolved from wolves, that behavior is still in them, so really a dog will do anything to get the food you
offer them. Controlling the motivation tool, though, is useful for the owner when trying to train the
dog. It helps with behavior and it gives you a clue on what they ll act like when they re older. Since a
treat is the ultimate motivator, it keeps the dog in check. So

Imagery In Gerard Hopkins s Gods Grander
Gerard Hopkins Gods Grander is a poem illustrating a person concern over how the environment is
being treated in the world. The narrator in the poem dislikes, how the world is being treated because of
the human race not respecting or caring for the environment. The narrator wants the world to be
treated with respect because God created the world with love and care. The poem introduces several
literary elements like symbolism, imagery, and alliteration. The three literary elements help prove that
people can be joyful when the environment is damage and poorly care for.
Imagery is one of the artistic tools used in Gods Grander . In the first stanza Hopkins writes The world
is charged with the grandeur of God. / It will flame out, like shining from shook foil ; ( 1 2). In the
second line the word foil is used. Foil is used to show how God can strike out an electrical ray on
metal and encompassing all. The third line is also another example of imagery It gathers to a
greatness, like the ooze of oil/ crushed. Why do men then now reck his rod (Hopkins, 3 4)? The ooze
of oil shows God is kind and rich which represent the ooze that does not stop. A third example of
imagery in the poem is the second stanza in the poem (And though the last lights off the black West
went/ Oh, morning, at the brown brink eastward, springs (Hopkins 11 12). In the two lines, one can
image the sun in the west bringing with it night and the sun rising in the east bringing morning. Each

History itself is a diachronic science and constructing a true historical record coincidentally begins its
origins in the West. History starts in Mesopotamia and Egypt then somehow works its way into Rome,
then the text books, then the American psyche. It is this pattern, as opposed to the historical record

centrism plays in defining our origins and identity in society. Can an aggregation of narratives that

Character Analysis Of Anakin Skywalker
The central character appearing in all six movies in the Star Wars saga is Darth Vader, who is formerly
known as Anakin Skywalker. He is the protagonist in the prequel trilogy, but one of the main
antagonists in the original trilogy. The films tell the story of Anakin Skywalker as a Jedi knight who
turns to the dark side of the Force. Darth Vader is the father of Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia. He
later sacrifices himself to save his son, Luke.
Anakin Skywalker s journey in the galaxy made him my favorite character while watching the saga.
Watching the prequel trilogy before the original trilogy, especially in episode one, had me rooting for
Anakin. He was very kind and compassionate towards Qui Gon Jinn and Padme Amidala who were
strangers to him at the time. When Qui Gon Jinn discovers Anakin s extremely high midi chlorians
count, it is believed that Anakin is the Chosen One. Then Anakin is older in episodes two and three, it
is evident that Anakin becomes power hungry and controlling. He loves Padme very much and wants
to prevent Padme s childbirth death so he joins the dark side and pledges himself to Chancellor
Palpatine s teachings. At this part of the film, I did not know what to think. I continuously thought
back on Anakin Skywalker as a young boy and wondering how this anger escalated so quickly.
Throughout the original trilogy, Anakin Skywalker is known as Darth Vader. In episode six, Return of
the Jedi, Darth Vader, who is perceived as the evilest being in the

Consequently, the important thing to note is that if you are 6 tall, you will find that learning how to

Income Assistance rates in British Columbia have been stuck at a paltry maximum of $610 for a single

Assistance rates have remained stagnant. The current social welfare policies adopted by the Canadian
Government in general and the provincial Government of British Columbia in particular are reflective

Canada s acceptance of the welfare state was brief however, and the economic downturn of the 1970 s,
as well as right wing campaigns calling for an end to social programs saw massive cuts to the social
safety net so many Canadians depended on (p.46). It was believed that to combat economic stagnation
and see a return to profits, many social programs must be eliminated. During the 1980 s and 1990 s
government spending on social programs was drastically reduced, effectively dismantling much of the
welfare state (another book).
Furthermore, 1996 saw the end of the Canada Assistance Plan (CAP) (p.49) that was established in

consolidation of federal and provincial programs, with financial responsibility shared 50/50 between

Similarities Between Luxembourg And The United States
Luxembourg is known to have the best health care system in the world. In Luxembourg, every citizen
has health care insurance and each member is protected by basic medical coverage. Citizens in
Luxembourg have health care taxes taken out of each check which is on average 5.44 percent of gross
income (Health Management, 2017). Dependents are covered under their guardians who pay health
care taxes. Another perk of the Luxembourg health care system is that students are covered for free

necessary, if someone chooses to have an elective procedure one must self pay. Options are given to
the citizens to have private health insurance in case one was to become severely ill or next an

great actions only being the acknowledgment of others. By being self reliant an individual is able to be
happy knowing that they have greatness in them. It must be possessed long before it is acknowledged.
(Emerson), meaning that in order for a man to be great they need to be able to do great things without
the want of praise. Emerson also states, Greatness is a property for which no man can receive credit
too soon. I take this to mean that greatness is not something that can be attained instantly and that
someone needs to be self reliant before they can be considered great. Self reliance is a quality that is
hard to achieve and in Emerson s quote he states ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My dad has taught me different lessons that show how to be a great person. Being a great person is not
something that can happen easily. One of the first steps is accepting that a person should not do great
things for the rewards that they will later receive but instead do great things just because. By doing
great things with the intention of receiving a reward that person is being selfish. Being unselfish is
another lesson that my dad would often teach me, because a great person should never be selfish.

Essential Tremor Case Study
Parkinson s disease (PD) and essential tremor (ET) are two of the most common movement disorders.
However, misdiagnosis often exists between the two disorders because both often present with action
tremor and slow movement. Currently, few tests exist to aid physicians in distinguishing these two
disorders when diagnosing a patient. Though similar, discernable differences exist between the two.
For instance, while up to 20% of patients with ET develop PD at some point, PD rarely has a family
history (less than 10% of cases); whereas ET generally does have a family history (more than 50% of
cases show a family history of familial tremor ).2

My Sci Fi Of The Earth Of A Space

My sci fi paper will be something along the lines of A day in the life of a space garbageman set a few
decades in the future when an orbital spaceship has been developed that can track down and remove
space debris from orbit. The article will explain in detail the technologies that will make such a
spaceship possible such as electric or tether propulsion, life support, and garbage collecting means. It
will also explain the various hazards of prolonged stays in orbit such as space weather and effect of
microgravity on a human.
Space Debris
Space debris is any particle, whether natural or man made, floating around in space[1]. This paper will

Orbital debris come from a variety of human activity in orbital space. One major source of orbital
debris comes from launched rockets and man made satellites[1]. When a rocket is launched, the upper
stage booster that gives a spacecraft its final boost into orbit is often left in orbit[2]. These boosters
may stay in orbit for decades and if there is still fuel remaining inside them they may explode and
create a cloud of debris[2]. One example was when a Chinese Long March 4 exploded on March 11,
2000 [3]. The payloads of the rocket often contribute greatly to the amount of orbital debris as well. In
2009, two satellites smashed into each other and created a cloud of debris with over a 1,000 pieces
longer than 10 centimeters [4]. While collisions between debris do not add to the total mass of debris
in orbit, they do add to the number of smaller pieces and increase the chances of further collisions in
the future[4]. There were even cases where debris was created from intentional destruction of satellites
in order to test anti satellite weapons[5]. The amount of debris is increasing with human activity in
space.
The growing number of orbital debris inconveniences and even endangers future space missions. Low
mass particles often impact the solar panels of spacecraft in orbit[6]. This creates a

Women In The Bayeux Tapestry
The Bayeux Tapestry was produced shortly after the Conquest of England in 1066. Shichtman writes
that throughout the Middle Ages both churchmen as well as secular writers were attempting to come
to terms with a conception of time and history still undergoing revision. This Tapestry tries to grapple
with recording history in the Middle Ages, as it details the Story of William the Conqueror defeating
Harold the Earl of Wessex at the Battle of Hastings. While the Tapestry depicts numerous men, who
participated in this historical event, the artist only include six women in the Tapestry. This essay will
examine how the female figures depicted in the Bayeux Tapestry relate to how women were viewed in
society following the Conquest. I will formally ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Kraus states that as for the woman merchant, all legislation of the Middle Ages concurred in granting
her full civil status, even if married. And the artisan s wife paid her own poll tax, and Kraus continues
later that there was equal division of his possessions between male and female descendants was a right
that was written into most communal charters. Women lived as equal members in society if they
worked or had land. These charters provided women with wider aspirations in an otherwise male
dominated society. The Doomsday Book recorded that three hundred and fifty women held land in the
time of Edward the Confessor. Henrietta Leyster records how a Yorkshire woman named Asa held her
land separate and free from the lordship and power of Bjornulfr her husband, even when they were
together, so that he could neither give it, nor sell it, nor forfeit it. After their separation, she withdrew
from her land and possessed it as a lady. In order for a woman to keep her privileges, she must first
have land. This was only the case for Anglo Saxon women, as Anglo Norman women could not make
wills or hold land. After the Conquest, however, women gained equal rights with men, as they both
lost the right to bequeath

Comparing Steinbeck s The Pearl And Heart Of Darkness
The process of making meaning of a text (analysing). The particular interpretations of a text. Types: 1.
Dominant readings: the natural or intended way to read/interpret a text (authors intentional reading). 2.
Resistant readings: a critical form of reading/interpreting the text which challenges or questions the
underlying assumptions of the text. 3. Alternate readings: a method of reading/interpreting a text by
focusing on the gaps and silences in texts to create meanings varying from the normal (essentially

Kino s physical and spiritual existence is intimately connected with the natural world. An important
element of the novella is nature imagery. Kino observes the world of his garden in the opening scene
of Chapter 1 and the world of the ocean in Chapter 2. Kino and Juana s final journey up the mountain
takes place on a dark night full of animal noises and cries. Steinbeck mirrors the human word as he
depicts the natural world as a realm. Collectively, the works of Steinbeck s nature imagery parallels
the natural worlds idyllic innocence to that of Kino s at the beginning of the novella. The natural
world described in the novella s darker qualities, at the end of story, reflect that of the struggle and
fight Kino experiences at the novellas end, once greed, power and wealth had corrupted his soul. For
example there was a parallel created between Kino s relationship to nature and the god s relationship
to Kino (he towers over the ants in the same way that the gods tower over

Inequality In I Am Malala
In the book, I Am Malala, Malala discusses how women face inequality in Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Malala was named after Malalai of Maiwand, who was a folk hero who lead her people to victory.
Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, was also a prominent role model for women, but unfortunately was
assassinated by a suicide attack. Both woman had a great impact on the rights of women in the
Pakistan/Afghanistan region. However, I believe that Malala promoted the equality of women better
than Benazir. Women worldwide suffer verbal, emotional, physical, and sexual abuse, along with their
sequelae, such as traumatic injuries, sexually transmitted diseases, chronic pain, eating and sleeping
disorders, other psychiatric conditions, and alcohol and drug abuse. To combat the issue of Woman s
Rights there have been organizations who work to stand against the tribal thinking and the traditional
way of gender roles in developing countries. One person known to stand against inequality, to become
the first female Prime Minister, Benazir Bhutto. At the age of 16 she traveled to the United States to
study at Harvard University s Radcliffe College, where she received a degree in government in 1973.
Bhutto went on to study political science, economics, and philosophy at Oxford University, and
became the first foreign woman to be elected president of the Oxford Union debating team.
After her father s death, Benazir Bhutto assumed leadership of the PPP, demonstrating her inherent

Joan of Arc A Visionary and Ethical Leader
I would rather die than do something which I know to be a sin, or to be against God s will. ~Joan of
Arc (Kennedy, 2007)
Have you ever been so loyal to your beliefs that you would be willing to die for them? Joan of Arc
was a peasant girl, a knight, a military leader, and the Patron Saint of France. She was also a visionary
and ethical leader. As a visionary leader, I will describe how Joan of Arc was an Advancer who took
Gods message and formulated a plan to free France from the English. I will also tell you how she used
transformational leadership and Idealized Influence, leading an army of men into battle even while she
was wounded. Next, I will show you how she was an ethical leader and demonstrated the trait of
loyalty by obeying Gods commands. I will describe how she dealt with the ethical dilemma of
potential harm when the English took her as a prisoner. Finally, I will tell you how her use of Idealized
Influence inspired me as a leader in the military and how I faced the ethical dilemma of potential harm
while deployed in Iraq. First, let me tell you why Joan was a visionary leader.

A Brief Look at Green Buildings
According to Bauer, Peter, Schwarz (2010), green buildings represent a revolution in environmental
sustainability and are gaining increasing acceptance in many organizations. Green buildings
significantly reduce the incidence of workplace hazards and illnesses, which might increase the
productivity and personal mood of employees. (Leaman, Bordass, 2007) assert that the natural world
is a source of guidance and a mirror that often reflects back to the soul . The relationship between
individuals and nature has various facets that include beauty, commodity, language, discipline, spirits,
prospects and idealism. All of these facets support the inspiration and intuition of individuals.
Therefore, a natural environment in the workplace can aid to lift the spirits of employees and this can
have a positive impact on the personal mood of the employees (Smith Pitt, 2012). The concepts
employed in the design of many green buildings can help employees to explore and gain intimacy to
the immediate natural environment, which can improve their personal moods.
Green buildings and a natural environment in the workplace also increases the personal mood of
employees because they are able to enjoy fresh and improved quality of air (Leaman Bordass, 2007).
Unsustainable building practices can contribute to an increase in pollutants that might have a negative
effect on the health of the employees. With their health at risk, employees cannot perform optimally.
The work environment

  • 2. The Ageing Population Ageing population is a worldwide pattern; it has major implications for the way in which programs designed to support older people are funded. While social security and means tested social assistance programs for long term care protect the living standards of the poor, middle income groups face under appreciated risks, such as outliving their capital or needing expensive long term care. This will cause economic, social, and political implications of a rapidly ageing population, which will affect society and businesses. New Zealand, like many countries, has ageing population, with an increasing proportion of people in the older age groups and a declining proportion of children. Many impacts such as increase in the dependency ratio, increased government spending on health care and pensions, high taxes, shortage of workers, changing sectors within the economy, and higher savings for pensions may reduce capital investment can effect all societies. Since 1960, the proportion of the population under 15 years of age has declined from around 33% and is expected to fall to 18% by 2031. (Statistics New Zealand, 2009) According to New Zealand Parliament (2011), age population is a consequence of the baby boom which occurred in New Zealand. Compare with other countries high fertility (the number of births per woman) and improved infant survival rate in the decades after the end of World War Two. New Zealand has one of the highest fertility rates in the developed countries, which have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. What Chemistry Means to Me What chemistry means to me and how it impacts upon my life From the foods we eat and the medicines we take to the products we regularly use, our lives are inextricably linked to chemicals and their operating principles. Chemistry is everywhere. The air we breathe, the ground we stand on, the seas we sail, and the variety of living things including our own bodies; all these are made of substances that we call chemicals. These chemicals interact with one another, and, in many cases, these interactions produce new substances through processes known as chemical reactions. Over time, in high school I have learned much about chemicals and have mastered numerous chemical reactions, giving me the ability to modify existing substances and ... Even the gas and tires in cars we drive, the makeup we put on our faces, the soaps and cleaners used every day, burning wood or other fossil fuels, chemistry is all around you each and every day. Chemistry is really an amazing subject and works hand in hand with all the other sciences to make things work. According to Don Showalter he stated that each of these reactions between substances illustrates a concept of the way matter behaves. According to Roald Hoffmann matter is neither created nor destroyed. Research and deduce from your findings which use of metals came first was it for weaponry or jewelry From my research that I have done there is no historical documentation, but the most likely metals are copper and gold because they are both comparatively easy to find as natural ores, and are both soft enough to use without forging equipment. Both metals were used by many ancient cultures for jewelry and decorative uses; copper was also used for simple tools. Copper is perhaps one of the most important elements for mankind, both due to its multiple uses and to its capacity to replace iron in many cases. Starting with making objects out of copper and continuing, as mankind progressed, with its use as a good electricity conductor and building material, copper was part of everyday life ever since the copper age. In Mark Sanchez s, The Invaders, and Aaron Hartman s, Kudzu: From Pretty Vine to Invasive Pest , two plants, the milfoil and kudzu, are taking over. These invasive weeds have more than just being invasive in common with each other, they also share a hand full of dissimilarities. • 5. Teachers Expectations Influence Pupils Performance This essay will look at whether teachers expectations influence pupils performance by discussing areas such as classroom dynamics, student circumstances, teacher s beliefs and student/teacher relationships. Through this analysis it will bring in concepts such as the self fulfilling prophecy , The Hawthorne effect and Rosenthal s Pygmalion. Throughout the overall discussion it will utilise the main authors and studies in this field whilst creating a balanced argument. Before looking at the theories and studies that support the argument it is important to look at two individual but interconnected factors that can influence pupils performance. Studies have found that in some cases teachers develop their expectations based on reliable criteria, such as past academic performance or classroom behaviour (Dusek Joseph, 1983). Moreover, research conducted by Rist (1970) sheds light on the idea that teachers generally have a preconceived idea of what it takes for a student to succeed academically, thus, explaining, the majority of teachers believe that there is an ideal type of student who possess specific characteristics which will insure academic success. However despite this, Dusek Joseph (1983) conducted an analysis of various studies in order to determine the bases of this argument and found that gender and belonging to a one parent family were usually not determinants of teacher expectations. Another factor that can influence teachers expectations of a student is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Department Of Labor Has Issued New Guidance On... BACKGROUND: The Department of Labor has issued new guidance on differentiating between employees and independent contractors. ISSUE: Issue #1: How does the new DOL guidance change the way in which employers classify employees and independent contractors? CONCLUSION: Issue #1: The DOL has now rejected the common law control test utilized by the IRS and adopted the economic realities test, saying that most workers are considered employees under the FLSA s broad definition. APPLICABLE LAW: The DOL defines employ as to suffer or permit to work and has adopted the economic realities test to determine whether an individual is an employee or an independent contractor. This test focuses on whether the worker is economically dependent on the employer or legitimately in business for himself (herself). This test involves six factors, but the DOL notes that they should not be applied in a mechanical fashion but instead with an understanding that the factors are indicators of economic dependence. Courts have noted that the suffer or permit standard ensures as broad of a scope of statutory coverage as possible and this broad coverage is essential to accomplish the Act s goal. This definition means that an individual is dependent upon finding employment in the business of others, whereas independent contractors are those workers with economic independence who are operating their own business. The six factors under the Economic Realities test are as follows: ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Feste Twelfth Night Essay 1 Feste is a typical Shakespearean fool in the Twelfth Night. Feste works for both Olivia and Duke Orisino. He is shown as witty person who entertains everyone with his jokes, dancing and singing. Fool s character is very ironic to his name because he is the wisest person in the whole Illyria who outshines everyone with his humour and wit. In his presence the mood of the environment becomes lighter and everybody have a good time. He moves easily between upper class and lower class in the whole play. He disguise himself as Sir Topas which very unusual for a lower class man. He also challenges the upper class hierarchy by working according to him and making fun of upper class people even Olivia or Orisino, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Feste as the name suggests includes festivity and embodies the festive spirit perfectly. Besides humour and wit he sings melodies and pictures the state of higher class people in the play. For example he sings a song O Mistress Mine, where are you roaming? which depicts the wait for the true love. The song could be applied to the love relationship between Orisino and Olivia and also between Olivia and Cesario. The song suggests that Orisino s wait will be over when he could marry Olivia and Olivia s journey would end when she gets Cesario. Another song would be Farewell, dear heart, since I must needs be gone sung in the party by both Sir Toby Belch and Feste. The song ideally talks about approaching death but in this case it is referred to Malvolio who is not liked by both Feste and Sir Toby Belch. Malvolio has been compared to an evil or antagonist because of his rude behaviour toward everyone including upper class people, also of his fondness for Olivia and a happiness spoiler whereas he is just a steward. Because nobody likes Malvolio he is been asked to leave the party in a comical and witty way which could be justified by the line said by Sir Toby Belch in Act 2 Scene 3 Shall I bid him go, and spare not and a reply from Feste O no no no, you dare ... • 8. Symbolism In On The Waterfront Symbolism means ideas, behavior, and characteristics because they relate to the essay called On the Waterfront. But in the film, however, the pigeons, hooks, and a hanging crate is symbols too, which represents the central theme of the film. The examples that symbolize the story are the pigeons which represents Terry s life, the hooks which relates how awful the union is, and a hanging crate that represent Terry s death. So, the main points of this essay are why Terry Malloy felt controlled by the union, why Terry is so upset, and why Terry Malloy is a fighter. Pigeons are symbols that make Terry Malloy feel controlled. Also, pigeons are beautiful creatures that can be seen from power lines and in large fields too. When Terry Malloy works for the union, it was controlled by the MOB, and they took the workers money for themselves. So, in the story, the pigeons relate to Terry s future because they relate to peace and freedom which Terry, does make a statement about being like one because he says, they got it made, they eat all they want, fly around like crazy, sleep side by side, and raise gobs of squabs (On the Waterfront). The last part about pigeons is that they make Terry happy when he is off work, and with them because he is away from the union and that he is not being controlled like a slave. Hooks are the next symbol that makes Terry Malloy feel angry and this is because of the corrupt union. What triggered his emotions is when Father Barry repeats the word ... In this regard, the recent researches and academic works tend to suggest some adjustment to the risk allocation between the main parties public and private in order to achieve value for money in the provision of a service. Risk allocation in connection with the individual perspectives, goals and requirements of the various project stakeholders In the structuring phase of a project, the developers, whether directly or with the assistance of a mandated advisor will develop a network of contract supporting the project initiative. If the project is based on non recourse finance or limited recourse, the developer will aim to set a Special Propose Company initially bearing all the risks involved in the project. Then, a set of contract to provide the main components of the project purpose delivering a service required by the public sector. For merchant project (service not required or tendered for the public service), most of the consideration below will apply but the public entity will be substituted by the market needs. In this situation, the private sector will directly contract with the SPV which is a private entity for the delivery of a service. According to the narrative, Angela does have history of alcohol use and marijuana use but the narrative adds that her current behaviors do not seem to be related to the episode. Additional v/z codes include topics that I would want to bring up in counseling. I would like to explore more into her coping mechanisms and ensure safety nets for future self harming thoughts and/or behaviors. I have also included the code relating to Angela s psychosocial circumstances because I believe she is experiencing a clinically significant discord with her parents and much of her delusions are focused on her irrational beliefs of what her parents truly want for her for example, Angela believes that her parents only want to hospitalize her for the disability ... • 12. Law Enforcement Of The United States Juan Lopez Ms. Dennaoui English 12 23 April 2015 Law Enforcement Imagine if there was no type of law enforcement code for a month in your city. Crime rates will be at an all time high. People would have no sort of protection or stability. There would also be no one to control the people; no one will ensure peace amongst the people. Thanks to our police officers all of these possible dangerous situations are kept under control on a daily basis. Police officers put their lives on the line each day to ensure peace and protection to the public. Law enforcement has been around for centuries, providing aid and assisting the people. Communities first developed watch systems composed of volunteers whose primary duty was to warn people of impending danger. ( The History of Policing ) The law enforcement program in the United States closely followed that of England at the time. Law enforcement in the United States began on April 1631 in Boston: Boston created a night watch in 1636, New York in 1658 and Philadelphia in 1700. The night watch was not a particularly effective crime control device. Watchmen often slept or drank on duty. While the watch was theoretically voluntary, many volunteers were simply attempting to evade military service, were conscript forced into service by their town, or were performing watch duties as a form of punishment. Man Against Nature In Jack London s To Build A Fire Man against Nature: A Look Into To Build a Fire by Jack London Introduction The human being has in most instances tried to outdo nature through creativity and innovation. Man s fight against nature is endlessly continuous and determined. It is of great significance that man understands that this competition with nature in the face of such overwhelming odds is insignificant. A clear cut example of this unproductive struggle is a story by Jack London, To Build a Fire whereby he uses man versus nature to support his primary theme that our struggle against nature is vastly unequal one that leaves little or no margin for error (London, 25). The man also despite the warning of the likely dangers of such cold weather, he had his argument. He in his mind stated, All a man had to do was to keep his head, and he was all right (London, 71). Any man who was a man could travel alone. In this instance, the man backing on his intellect and reasoning power to overcome nature. The fact that he is unable to overcome the adverse weather conditions at his disposal is an indication of why man cannot outwit nature. Despite his knowledge and reasoning ability, the man is trapped, and even his attempts to light a fire to warm himself are thwarted by the same nature. He freezes to the point that he cannot do anything. The dog in the story is seen to be much concerned and worried about the weather than the man who can think and make decisions. Absorption is the act of the digestive system absorbing, or taking in, nutrients that our body needs. The small intestine is responsible for a lot of absorption through finger like structures called villi. These villi also increase the surface area of the small intestine allowing for maximum absorption and chemical digestion. After the food leaves the small intestine it enters the large intestine. You are free to believe what you want, love who you wish, and be you think you are designed to be. Although America may have many benefits that most countries and continents don t, it came at a price. America had to fight her way to the top, and every constitutional right was earned by the endurance and victories it took to make them possible. From a fledgling nation that didn t have much hope to one that had the courage to proclaim Manifest Destiny America definitely earned everything it has to offer. From the beginning America has been a sort of safe haven. From when the pilgrims first decided to cross the Atlantic, due to the dysfunctions of England. At the time England was very unfair to most of its people. By not letting one rank up higher if the where at a lower class, or only letting the eldest of the family inherit any land that the parents owned, leaving nothing to offer their other children. But the biggest reason was that the Church of England wouldn t allow its people to worship God the way the people felt was correct. So therefore they made the decision to cross over to America where they would be free to start over again and worship God freely and how they felt was the accurate and correct way to do so. Although crossing over to America was the only option the pilgrims had if they wished to start anew there would be risks that came with it. The risk of leaving their homes behind knowing that returning wasn t exactly an option. Along with the fact that they didn t have an exact idea of where they were going or where they would end up. They basically risked their lives just to be able to worship God freely and for their families to not have to dwell under England s unfair rulings. After crossing the relentless Atlantic with the tragic fact that some of their people were lost along the way, they officially made it to America. They arrived in the land that was going to be the start of their new lives, but it resulted in more than half of their population dead within the first few weeks of winter. Introduction A plant that produces alcohol as the main or by product sometimes experience failure or did not properly manage their waste. The wastewater may be released to the water streams nearby and affecting the environment and human. Some of alcoholic compound that are endangering the environment is acetone, methanol and n propanol depending on the concentration. Acetone has a slight toxicity when exposed to aquatic life and it caused membrane damage, a decrease in size and decrease in germination of various agricultural and ornamental plants. Methanol may affect animals, birds and fish, leading to their death. Exposure can also cause low growth rate in plants. Long term methanol exposure can affect the fertility of biota and affect their appearance or behaviour ( National Pollutant Inventory , 2016). Since alcohol is very volatile it is more practical to detect the compound using Gas Chromatography (GC) instead of High Performance Liquid Chromatography. With hydrocarbon it is suitable to use flame ionisation energy. In this experiment, GC that was used has the schematic diagram as below: Figure 1: GC schematic diagram. Sheffield Hallam University (2016) Based on Figure 1, the wastewater sample would be injected onto the injector port and with high temperature about 200C the wastewater sample would be vaporized and forced through the capillary column that has a temperature of 87C. The Current Policies Of The Canadian Columbia Income Assistance Rates in British Columbia: Why Maximum is Not Enough Income Assistance rates in British Columbia have been stuck at a paltry maximum of $610 for a single employable individual for the past 10 years. Although the cost of living has steadily increased, Income Assistance rates have remained stagnant. The current social welfare policies adopted by the Canadian Government in general and the provincial Government of British Columbia in particular are reflective of the strong liberal political ideology that has taken root in Canadian society. Canada s acceptance of the welfare state was brief however, and the economic downturn of the 1970 s, as well as right wing campaigns calling for an end to social programs saw massive cuts to the social safety net so many Canadians depended on (p.46). It was believed that to combat economic stagnation and see a return to profits, many social programs must be eliminated. During the 1980 s and 1990 s government spending on social programs was drastically reduced, effectively dismantling much of the welfare state (another book). Furthermore, 1996 saw the end of the Canada Assistance Plan (CAP) (p.49) that was established in 1966 and helped to standardize and fund nationwide Social Assistance (p.46). This program was a consolidation of federal and provincial programs, with financial responsibility shared 50/50 between federal and provincial governments and among many things, saw that anyone determined to be in need would receive funding without a work requirement imposed to receive assistance (another book p.113). CAP and Established Programs Financing (EPF) were combined into the Canadian Health and Social Transfer (CHST), this merger eliminated many of the requirements laid out in Canadian Assistance Plan by the federal government that required the provinces to uphold certain ... In Luxembourg, every citizen has health care insurance and each member is protected by basic medical coverage. Citizens in Luxembourg have health care taxes taken out of each check which is on average 5.44 percent of gross income (Health Management, 2017). Dependents are covered under their guardians who pay health care taxes. Another perk of the Luxembourg health care system is that students are covered for free until the age of 27. The insurance pays for any basic procedure or treatment that is medically necessary, if someone chooses to have an elective procedure one must self pay. Options are given to the citizens to have private health insurance in case one was to become severely ill or next an extensive procedure (Health Gov, 2012). The United States has several different insurance options for citizens such as insurance via an employer, insurance purchased privately or free health care provided by the government. Ralph Waldo Emerson has a quote that represents this aspect of self reliance, Greatness is a property for which no man can receive credit too soon; it must be possessed long before it is acknowledged. Self reliance has many different qualities including doing good and not expecting any praise because that person knows that they have done good and that should be enough for them. Ralph Waldo Emerson s quote shows how teens and Americans need to be self reliant and need to do great things without the final outcome for doing those great actions only being the acknowledgment of others. By being self reliant an individual is able to be happy knowing that they have greatness in them. It must be possessed long before it is acknowledged. (Emerson), meaning that in order for a man to be great they need to be able to do great things without the want of praise. Emerson also states, Greatness is a property for which no man can receive credit too soon. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Orbital debris come from a variety of human activity in orbital space. One major source of orbital debris comes from launched rockets and man made satellites[1]. When a rocket is launched, the upper stage booster that gives a spacecraft its final boost into orbit is often left in orbit[2]. These boosters may stay in orbit for decades and if there is still fuel remaining inside them they may explode and create a cloud of debris[2]. One example was when a Chinese Long March 4 exploded on March 11, 2000 [3]. The payloads of the rocket often contribute greatly to the amount of orbital debris as well. In 2009, two satellites smashed into each other and created a cloud of debris with over a 1,000 pieces longer than 10 centimeters [4]. While collisions between debris do not add to the total mass of debris in orbit, they do add to the number of smaller pieces and increase the chances of further collisions in the future[4]. There were even cases where debris was created from intentional destruction of satellites in order to test anti satellite weapons[5]. The amount of debris is increasing with human activity in space. The growing number of orbital debris inconveniences and even endangers future space missions. Low mass particles often impact the solar panels of spacecraft in orbit[6]. This creates a ... This Tapestry tries to grapple with recording history in the Middle Ages, as it details the Story of William the Conqueror defeating Harold the Earl of Wessex at the Battle of Hastings. While the Tapestry depicts numerous men, who participated in this historical event, the artist only include six women in the Tapestry. Women lived as equal members in society if they worked or had land. These charters provided women with wider aspirations in an otherwise male dominated society. The Doomsday Book recorded that three hundred and fifty women held land in the time of Edward the Confessor. Henrietta Leyster records how a Yorkshire woman named Asa held her land separate and free from the lordship and power of Bjornulfr her husband, even when they were together, so that he could neither give it, nor sell it, nor forfeit it. After their separation, she withdrew from her land and possessed it as a lady. In order for a woman to keep her privileges, she must first have land. This was only the case for Anglo Saxon women, as Anglo Norman women could not make wills or hold land. Kino s physical and spiritual existence is intimately connected with the natural world. An important element of the novella is nature imagery. Kino observes the world of his garden in the opening scene of Chapter 1 and the world of the ocean in Chapter 2. Kino and Juana s final journey up the mountain takes place on a dark night full of animal noises and cries. Steinbeck mirrors the human word as he depicts the natural world as a realm. Collectively, the works of Steinbeck s nature imagery parallels the natural worlds idyllic innocence to that of Kino s at the beginning of the novella. The natural world described in the novella s darker qualities, at the end of story, reflect that of the struggle and fight Kino experiences at the novellas end, once greed, power and wealth had corrupted his soul. Both woman had a great impact on the rights of women in the Pakistan/Afghanistan region. However, I believe that Malala promoted the equality of women better than Benazir.
