The Republic Of The Philippines
Introduction
The Philippines, officially known as the Republic of the Philippines, is a sovereign island that
comprises an archipelago of 7,107 islands located off Southeast Asia, between the Philippine Sea on
the east and the South China Sea on the west. The islands are categorized broadly under three major
islands which are Luzon in the north, the Visayan Islands in the center, and Mindanao in the south.
The Philippines total area is approximately 300,000 sq km, which includes approximately 298,000 sq
km of land. The country has no land boundaries. The capital of the Philippines is Manila and the
country s most populous city is Quezon City, both part of Metro Manila. The archipelago, a Spanish
colony during the 16th century and ceded ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are many inherent structural similarities between the United States and the Philippine
governments. The Philippine government is divided into three branches the Legislative, Executive,
and Judicial branches. The Philippine Congress is also bicameral it is made up of the Senate and the
House of Representatives. The chief of the Executive branch in the Philippines is the President. The
Presidents of the Philippines and the United States have similar powers: commander in chief of the
military, the ability to enter into treaties with the concurrence of two thirds of the Senate, and the
power to appoint ambassadors, public ministers and consuls. Several amendments in the Philippine
Constitution were incorporated from the Constitution of the United States. Corruption and cronyism
are widespread in business and government. A few dozen leading families hold a disproportionate
share of land, corporate wealth, and political power. A culture of impunity, stemming in part from case
backlogs in the judicial system, hampers the fight against corruption. The rule of law is generally
weak as courts are hampered by inefficiency, low pay, intimidation, and corruption. Rodrigo Duterte,
former Davao City Mayor, was elected as President in May 2016 and assumed office on June 30th,
2016. One of his main campaign promises was to end corruption in the country by abolishing
Congress.

A Break Down On The Break
A Break Down on the Break In Mesquite High Schools pronounced football team practiced tirelessly
one November day in 2015, working around the clock to ensure a spot in the state play offs. Although
the football team gave everything they had to offer for their school, Mesquite did not give their all
back for their team. During the intense practice, two young men slipped in through the gym doors by
simply bypassing the school s poor exterior locks. With one swift yank, they were able to pop open the
locker room door, giving them access to all the players personal items and equipment. Once the
players returned to the athletic facility, they came to discover that their bags and lockers had been
picked clean. Thousands of dollars in cell ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This lack of security is unacceptable. Replacing the current door handles with cup handles will lead to
higher quality security and benefit all teachers, students, and faculty. Choosing to install these new
handles would ensure better safety in emergency situations and prevent future thefts for the school.
Part Two: Current Efforts
The school s main defenses consist of the doors and locks on campus. However if these doors and
locks become damaged and cannot serve their full purpose, they contribute little safety efficiency to
the school. The current locks placed on the exterior of the school are in poor working condition. A
hard enough yank immediately pops the lock and allows access to the school. These handles and locks
clearly create an issue for the school, because of the numerous break ins where valuable equipment
and personal goods were stolen. These thefts are not an uncommon occurrence. Mesquites football
team lost personal phones and wallets, the choir department lost expensive sound equipment, orchestra
lost priceless instruments, the schools supply of sterling silver was stolen from the metals room, and
the electronics department lost tools and equipment (Jones et al).
Not only can these robberies be costly for the school to replace, but liability can be far more
concerning. If a teacher or staff member was harmed while exiting the room to lock their door in

Importance Of Baroque In Art
A number of modern artists have focused on reflecting personal perception of the world through a
contemporary Baroque style in art. The increasing popularity of Baroque nowadays is due to the
complex processes that took place in society and the solutions the modern culture has to offer to
resolve them. Truly, through the history, the emergence of Baroque elements has always reflected the
complexity of human life, followed by technological progress and cultural exchange. Eventually,
Baroque, the style characterized by extravagance and drama, has been defined as anti classical,
innovative and experimental, intended to touch directly the beholder, individual of diverse and
pluralistic society.
At the same time, Baroque has influenced not every medium of art in the works of contemporary
artists of the 21st century. Such elements as sculpture, architecture, and music have been hardly
influenced by the inspirations of the previous centuries. Indeed, the style that has emerged during the
period of discoveries in new sciences, exploration of new lands, increased trade and the reformation of
church, could barely provide any solutions for artists born three centuries later, especially in those
mediums of art, where the reference for the past signifies of the regression of an art element
development.
Indeed, it is not possible to imagine someone could compete with Gianlorenzo Bernini in feeling of
the Baroque style in sculpture. Thus, the most prominent works of the artist, known for

Summary Of Petruchio In Shakespeare s Taming Of The Shrew
In the play The Taming of The Shrew by Shakespeare Katherine has been tamed by Petruchio because
throughout the play she seems more and more innocent and you start to think she isn t acting anymore.
Also she has not learned to love him but instead it is her giving into him because she has no other
choices. The first part is how she yells at him in public and he says that it s all okay and that she is
doing it because she loves him. Then at the wedding she finally asks him to stay instead of yelling at
him. Finally her last monologue shows how she has given in and if he wants to love her than she will
love him back.
When Petruchio meets Katherine in the small room and they talk, they get into a huge fight and
Katherine is throwing things at him and saying how much she hates him. But while this is happening
Petruchio remains calm and talks to her in a calm manner as if everything is fine. Then once they
come out of the room Katherine is saying how bad Petruchio is and how much she hates him. But
Petruchio says that this is all a joke and that she will act like this in public but she doesn t really mean
it because it is all an act. Petruchio says ... Tis bargained twixt us twain, being alone, that shall still be
curst in company. Petruchio is saying that she loves him when they are alone but that she will act
badly in public. This is showing how she in the beginning hates him and wants nothing to do with
him. She is not giving into him because she thinks that she is still

Political Identities in Malaysia since Its Independence in...
Q: Since gaining independence in 1957, which social cleavages have been important in shaping the
identities of political parties in Malaysia?
As is the case for many (relatively) new democracies, Malaysia s electoral backdrop has been
influenced by competing social cleavages since gaining its independence in 1957. But which social
cleavages have been important in shaping the identities of political parties in Malaysia? This essay
highlights which social cleavages have played an instrumental part in maintaining the identities of
each of the major parties within Malaysia, and which cleavage dimension has been politicised to
create the strongest electoral division. It will first assess to what extent social cleavages in Malaysia
have been ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The resulting cleavage structure is the product of complex relations of crosscutting and reinforcing
cleavages largely defining the setup of a party system which outlines political platforms, individual
party behaviour, and the potential for coalition forming.
To assess which cleavage structures have typically divided voters within a given party system, the
party system must have been frozen whereby the party system has effectively politicised a certain
issue dimension where political parties emerge from and have maintained their relevance in the system
due to the salience of such issues. For many Western democracies, Lipset and Rokkan assessed that
two revolutions have been responsible for structuring certain cleavages in party systems: the national
revolution was responsible for politicising the differences of the centre/periphery and the
religious/secular while the industrial revolution characterised the urban/rural and capital/labour
divides.
However, Malaysia is a relatively new democracy. There has never been a national revolution which
divided the centre/periphery and the religious/secular, nor was it the case of urban/rural and
capital/labour divides of the industrial revolution at least not to the point of freezing the party system.
So how can we apply the model put forth by Lipset and Rokkan to account for the politicisation of
social cleavages in Malaysia? Ufen writes that the structures of party systems mirror real social

Essay on Henry s Diagnosis of Conduct Disorder
Throughout the movie The Good Son there are many examples of Henry s mental illness. Because of
his aggression towards animals and people, the destruction of property, deceitfulness, and serious rule
violations, Henry is diagnosed with Conduct Disorder (CD) (American Academy of Child and
Adolescent Psychiatry, 12/10/09). Throughout the movie Henry demonstrates all of these
characteristics. He shattered windows on an old warehouse by throwing rocks. Henry also shot and
killed a dog and showed no remorse in doing so. These actions are unjustifiable to the mind of a
normal person, but they are completely normal to Henry. The first example of Henry s (CD) is the
attempts on his sister s life. Henry attempted to kill his younger sister ... Show more content on

Moreover, another event from the movie that shows his (CD) is his attempt to kill his mother. After
running away from her in the woods and hiding, he tries to push his mother of a cliff. This plan was
once again stopped by Mark. This ultimately led to Henrys death. This shows just how maladaptive or
out of touch with the world Henry was. As I pointed out earlier, Henry was a very intelligent and
manipulative child. He convinced his parents and other elders around him to believe that he was the
perfect child and tried turning them against his cousin Mark. He even had Mark s doctor believing that
Mark had a problem. According to (American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, 12/10/09)
both of these events are characteristics of (CD). Furthermore, Henry s behavior is very atypical. This
can be seen when Henry reveals the crossbow that he personally made. Then Henry proceeds to show
Mark how it works by firing it and nearly missing a cat. When Marks said that it was close to hitting
the cat, Henry responded by saying yeah the scopes not dialed in yet , meaning that the whole time
Henry was aiming to kill the cat. However, this does not stop Henry. The next day, after fixing the
scope, Henry aims at a dog, shoots and kills it. This shows that Henry has no problem killing animals
as well as people, which is yet another characteristic of (CD) (Mayo Clinic, 12/10/09). Conduct
disorder is a complicated group of behavioral and emotional problems

Electron Affinity And Ionization Energy
Recently in class we have discovered the meaning of electron affinity and ionization energy. We know
that ionization energy is the energy required to be absorbed when an ionic bond removes an electron
from an atom. We also know that electron affinity is how easily an atom will accept an electron into its
shells when trying to make itself neutral. This means that both of these terms play a big role when an
atom loses or gains an electron.
The ionization energy is the energy to remove an electron from an atom. A trend for ionization energy
is that it generally increases left to right across a row on the periodic table except for the noble gases
which have closed shells. For example, lithium requires only 520 kJ/mol to ionize it while helium, the
noble gas right next to it in the periodic table, requires 2372 kJ/mol. The ionization energy can be
thought of as opposite to the electronegativity of an element in the way that a low ionization energy
gives away that an element easily loses electrons to a reaction, while a high electronegativity shows
that an element strongly wants to have electrons in a reaction.
The electron affinity is an amount of energy that changes when ... Show more content on

Electron affinity, on the other hand, describes the energy that is released when an electron binds to an
atom. This tells us that since energy is released, the electron affinities will be negative. Another
example of the differences between electron affinity and ionization energy is that ionization energy is
related with making cations from neutral atoms due to the fact that it measures the amount of energy
needed to remove an electron. In contrast, electron affinity is related with making anions due to the
fact that it is the amount of energy that changes when a negative ion is formed from an electron being
added. These are two big example of how electron affinity and ionization energy are

Gap Year Pros
Taking a gap year after high school, what are the advantages? For over several years, the controversy
has been in the debate with no definite answer. There are pros and cons to taking a gap year, but it all
depends on what he or she may want to do later to in life and how soon students want to begin. Are
students satisfied with the major or career, he or she is going to study right after high school? The idea
of taking a gap year after high school is the best way to prepare a student for college because they can
work for an entire year to help pay for tuition, explore college options, and get a break from the 13
years of receiving an education. Moreover, if a high school graduate takes a gap year he or she is able
to work full time for a year and make more money to pay for college. A full year will actually surprise
students on how much they can do to put into savings, A year of earning money full time can go a long
way toward paying for college. (McCollum) When a student graduates from high school, he or she
will have their high school diploma so their paycheck will be higher than one in high school. While
high school students have a job it can add to the stress they have to deal with in both areas. If a high
school graduate takes off a year of school then he or she will have the opportunity to only focus on
their job specifically their roles at the company. Additionally, with the opportunity to work full time he
or she will make more than having a part time job

Military Deception Analysis
Identifying the principles that determine the success of Denial and Deception efforts
The carrying out of every mission, rather operational or tactical is based on these six principles of
military deception:
Focus Predisposition of the Target
Timeliness Strategic Initiative
Integration Secrecy, Organization, Coordination
Security Plausibility and Confirmation of the Lie
Centralized control Adaptability
Objective The acceptance of the deception
Tools of deception (Focus, Objective, Centralized Planning and Control, Security, Timeliness, and
Integration) can be the most deadly of all weapons on the battlefield. A prime example of this is the
use of phony broadcastings and decoy tanks during World War 2. Deluding the enemy ... Show more

Using The Reimbursement Model, And The Wage Payment Model
Undue inducement in human subject scientific research occurs when scientists offer an incentive that
incites participants to enter a study that poses significant risks which they otherwise would not
participate in, or when participants could be recruited for less compensation. The main concern about
undue inducement is that its coercive influence may distort the test subjects judgment, compromise
their voluntariness, or impair their ability to give informed consent. Without informed consent, the
researchers are no longer respecting the partakers autonomy, the research then cannot be deemed as
ethical. Three monetary payment models were proposed to mitigate the potential risks of undue
influence: the market model, the reimbursement model, and the wage payment model. Using the
principlist approach, I will argue that while it is ethical to pay research subjects for their participation
in a study, undue inducement is still an existing issue, and the wage payment model is the most
morally permissible model for this case.
To begin with, Christine Grady states that an amount of money that is not excessive may, rather than
constitute an undue inducement, be an indication of respect for the time and contribution that research
subjects make. Beyond that, the payments ensure that the participants do not end up financially
damaged. Based on the nonmaleficence principle, which advocates for actions that are non harming or
inflicting the least harm possible to reach a beneficial

The Unemployment Rate Of The United States Essay
Unemployment rates were essentially higher in August in 6 states, lower in 3 states, and stable in 41
states and the District of Columbia, the U.S. Authority of Labor Statistics reported today. Ten states
had eminent jobless rate diminishes from a year prior, 5 states had increments, and 35 states and the
District had no noteworthy change. The national unemployment rate stayed at 4.9 percent in August
and was minimal not quite the same as that of August 2015.
Nonfarm finance work expanded in 4 states and the District of Columbia in August 2016, diminished
in 3 states, and was basically unaltered in 43 states. Throughout the year, 35 states included calculable
quantities of nonfarm finance employments, North Dakota and Wyoming lost occupations, and 13
states and the District were basically unaltered.
Territorial Unemployment
In August, two locales had unemployment rates fundamentally not quite the same as the U.S. rate of
4.9 percent: The Midwest, at 4.5 percent, and West, at 5.3 percent. Throughout the month, no area had
a measurably critical unemployment rate change. Noteworthy throughout the year rate diminishes
happened in two areas: The South ( 0.5 rate point) and West ( 0.3 point). Among the nine geographic
divisions, the West North Central had the most minimal unemployment rate, 4.1percent in August,
trailed by New England, 4.2 percent, and the South Atlantic, 4.5 percent.
The Pacific had the most astounding rate, 5.4 percent. Throughout the month, the West

Jimi Hendrix Essay
Jimi Hendrix
Jimi Hendrix is an American guitarist, singer, songwriter and producer who is widely considered to be
the most important electric guitarist in the history of music. Although Hendrix is known for his
outstanding ability to play the guitar, he is also a very famous name in Blues music. He played the
acoustic guitar but is known for his outstanding ability to play the electric guitar. With songs such as
Red House, Here My Train A Comin , and Born Under a Bad Sign, Hendrix is considered to be in the
Chicago category and quickly made his way into the history of Blues music. James Marshall Hendrix

Rumors have it that Hendrix dropped out of the army because he faked being a homosexual along with
breaking his ankle on a training mission. With a tough childhood, Jimi was finally maturing and
becoming a man. As Jimi Hendrix matured, he turned to his guitar skills when nothing else was
working for him. He joined a blues and rhythm circuit that traveled around playing at different
restaurants in Nashville. Jimi was only a sideman and was making only a little money, if any at all.
Hendrix was sick of being a sideman and decided to move to New York City to try and make it big.
Being unfamiliar with New York City, Hendrix met Fanyne Pridgeon, a local Harlem native. She and
Hendrix grew close over the years as she introduced him to other musicians such as the Allen twins.
The Allen Twins played a big part in Hendrix s early career as the pushed him to succeed because they
knew that he had talent. Because of the help of the Allen twins and Fayne Pridgeon, Hendrix won his
first prize in the Apollo Theater. Later on, Jimi met a man named Curtis Knight who was the lead
singer of Curtis Knight and the Squires. Hendrix and Knight quickly became close friends. Knight
knew the music industry and helped out Hendrix. Though Knight helped Hendrix, he also hurt him.
Knight introduced Hendrix to Greenwhich Village. This is where all the music was, but that s not all.

How Does Tom Robbins Make A Difference In American Literature
Martin Luther King Jr. once expressed that Human progress is neither automatic nor inevitable...
Every step toward the goal of justice requires sacrifice, suffering, and struggle; the tireless exertions
and passionate concern of dedicated individuals. Knowing this, some people are willing to sacrifice
everything in order to fulfill their ambition. Consequently, what makes a sacrifice truly worth it? In
layman s terms, a sacrifice is the act of relinquishing an object or action that one desire in order to
obtain something of equal value. Evidently, humankind cannot obtain anything without first giving
something in return; which means that the sacrifice must be of equal value. Although from different
pieces of literature, they bear some superficial ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A higher level quote that would fit into a situation such as this would be by Tom Robbins, who is an
American novelist. Robbins once said that similarities bring people together on a common ground,
while diversity is what allows fascination to occur. To be frank, Robbins is attempting to get readers to
perceive that differences is not necessarily a negative thing. The two characters, although from
different pieces of literature have a common goal, which is to be successful, but go about it in a
different manner. In Victor s case, he attempted to be successful by reanimating life. The different
accidents of life are not so changeable as the feelings of human nature. I had worked hard for nearly
two years, for the sole purpose of infusing life into an inanimate body. For this I had deprived myself
of rest and health. I had desired it with an ardour that far exceeded moderation; but now that I had
finished, the beauty of the dream vanished, and breathless horror and disgust filled my heart. Unable
to endure the aspect of the being I had created (Shelley 56). The quote is significant because it depicts
the feelings that Victor underwent as he was creating the creature and how he felt no compassion
towards his creation, but rather utter disgust. From this, we learnt that the time and isolation that
Victor sacrificed in order to create the fiend was of wasted effort. What makes the situation

Persuasive Essay On Teaching Students
There should be a policy for teacher to enforce teaching student for them to be getting good nutrition
and health as throughout school time as well as the school district to help encourage it. The United
States Department of Agriculture s core child nutrition program helps to impact school nutrition
policies such as their financial aspects of school food service operation and what types of food will be
better for children that they will eat.(Weir and Sharma) Schools should have healthy breakfast also a
lunch that they serve for students to get an idea of what food are good for them and not to just give
them bad nutrients.
In most schools you will see at least someone being a student or a teacher being overweight. As
Frankowski is an evangelist ,when it comes to promoting nutrition and fitness, which is something she
saw when she went to a school, she says, There are kids that are not just chubby but are quite a bit
overweight in just about every class that I go into (Krupp). This is significant to why each student
should have a couple of the same opportunity as the other children to get into better condition or be
educated to have healthy nutrition. Another thing is to also get the parents involved to help their own
child to not become obese.
There are variety of foods that help children grow stronger and vigorous and one of them is milk.
There are different types of milk higher non cow milk consumption and lower height the non cow

Teaching Is An Effective Teacher And Create A Better...
The community in which I will be teaching believes that character education should be taught in the
schools. As I plan to teach first and second graders in the elementary schools, I will include character
education in my classroom by using four simple rules. Be honest, be caring, have respect and listen.
Students, parents, faculty members and I will be expected to follow all of these simple rules upon
entering my classroom. We will be honest and truthful in the things we share. We will care about
others feelings, and make it a priority to have my classroom as a comfortable setting in which my
students can learn. We will have respect for all of whom enter into the walls of my classroom. We will
listen to the instruction given and follow it to its entirety and fullness. When we fail to maintain one of
these rules or standards, we will simply try again. As I plan to apply these rules in every aspect, my
goal is to become an effective teacher and create a better learning environment for my students. In
essence, I will have a classroom in which other students and teachers will look to. I know that one way
that I can apply these standards is by motivating my students in learning and in their lives. Students
need to be involved and learning as much as they can. From personal experience, I know that where I
learned the most was in settings in which were comfortable, there was respect. My teachers cared and
were interested in the activities I was involved in. They motivated me to

Similarities Between Mencius And Xun-Zi

POLI 113A Midterm Paper
Professor: Magagna, Victor Valentine
Nov. 3th, 2016
Prompt: Explain the conception of human nature in Mencius and Xun Zi. (sources: lectures, Yao,
Mencius, Xun Zi)
The powerful understanding and concepts of human nature took shape at the time of Confucius,
Mencius and Xun Zi. Mencius and Xun Zi are famous Chinese philosiphers in the early B.C.
centuries. Both of them hold opinions towards human nature but their philosiphy approaches strongly
disagree upon human s instinct desire to conduct good or evil deeds. Mencius believes that humans
have the tendancy to behave rational, whereas Xun Zi claims that humans are born bad. Although
these two conceptions seem distinctly contradictory with each other, they do share some similarities in
aspects of politics. This paper explains conception of human nature in Mencius and Xun Zi, and also
analyzes similarities underlying the apparent conflicts of these two theories..
Mencius constructs the idea of good human nature by first raising a question of the child in a well. He
asks that how you would respond if you see a small child who is about to fall into a well, and the
consequences of the child fallling into the well ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By using tendential he indicates that it is not an established fact but a tendancy, a tendancy to be
rational and social. Since human beings are social individuals, we cooportate sometimes to survive,
and we are moral because we are coorporative. Therefore, due to goodness of human nature, we are
able to make rational decisions and, more importantly, to behave rational . Just as mentioned before,
good human nature is a tendancy but not a fact, human beings are not necessarily born fully rational,
social or moral, but we have the potential to be rational, social and

Renaissance Art Movement Paper
The history of drawing in the Italian Renaissance developed throughout the years to be considered an
art in its own right. This new movement was originated and centered in Italy. Throughout the course
of history, the limited accessibility to paper helped to mold and develop the medium and material in

Spread Of Influenza
Forecasting the Spread of Influenza
The influenza virus has three types: A, B, and C. Seasonal influenza epidemics are typically caused by
types A and B, while type C regularly has mild symptoms. Scientists have studied previous years of
influenza epidemics and are able to predict the yearly flu season for the United States. In the United
States, flu season tends to peak during the winter months. In other climates, such as tropical and
subtropical, flu seasons can vary making them harder to predict. Hong Kong has a subtropical climate
and commonly has two flu seasons, one from January through March and another from July through
August. In addition to these two common flu seasons, Hong Kong can experience flu epidemics at
erratic times during ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A latent phase of a virus is defined as being dormant or in an inactive state. Both the EAKF and PF

predict an irregular flu epidemic occurrence from previous data. These forecast systems were able to
predict the peak time and magnitude of the influenza epidemics but weren t able to predict the
duration or onset times of the viruses in advance. Each individual strain of virus had different
outcomes varying in accuracy. The results showed that it was more accurate to track and predict
individual strains as opposed to the influenza virus as a whole. The team suggests that for future

Carracks can carry 1,200 pounds and are one of the largest ships that pirates used. There are also other
kinds of ships that pirates use like Naval ships, Cargo ships, and Transportation ships.
First of all, Naval ships have lots of armor and cannons for protection, like an Ironclad with iron
frames for protection from cannons and other fire power from enemy ships. The Brig and Panstership
are both huge Naval ships. Also a fire ship was a ship filled with TNT that could be lighted and used

The Israelites Meeting to Inquire of Yahweh
The pericope or main focus of this paper the scene in Exodus 33:7 through 34:3. In this selection of
emphasized text we have the Israelites meeting to inquire of Yahweh, in a tent that is some distance
away. the speech then goes into distinct detail of what happens when regular israelites go to inquire of
Yahweh, In comparison to when Moses goes to inquire of Yahweh in the tent of worship. During
Moses time with Yahweh, the people of Israel waited for Moses and his aide Joshua to go into the tent,
and the people, waited outside the tents until they saw the sign a pillar of smoke then the would
worship Yahweh outside their tents. During one of these conversations, Moses ensures that Yahweh
will go with the Israelites into the promise land, and then asks to be shown the glory of Yahweh. To
which yahweh responds that no one may see his face and live but Moses can look at him from behind
and see the glory of Yahweh on Mt Sinai. During this time Yahweh also plans to give Moses another
copy of the Book of the Covenant. The pericope happens towards the end of the Book of Exodus, after
the salvation and during the process of sanctifying the Israelites. It also before the construction of
tabernacle as shown by the method in which the Israelites are worshiping Yahweh, in front of their
own tents, and also where they directly go to seek god in the tent of worship. However this is also

What Is Foolishness In A Midsummer Night s Dream
Science has proven that emotions can make one behave foolishly. Emotions over power our senses
and cause the human brain to make irrational decisions. As seen in the play Mid Summer Night s
Dream, there are many different ways in which foolishness is present throughout the comedy. The city
of Athens, represents law and order. It signifies the human struggle to suppress irrational tendencies
and foolish behavior. It prevents the Athenian couples from showing their true emotions for one

where emotions start to take over. It leads the characters away from responsibility and into
foolishness. Arrogance, amusement and love, have a negative affect on the characters choices and

Informative Speech On Content Implementation Plan Essay
Content Implementation Plan I am appreciative for the valuable information I obtained from this
course. I intend to incorporate the researched practices into my reading program. Allington addressed
several critical components of instruction necessary to ensure reading interventions are delivered with
the best intentions and students are responding successfully to the reading interventions. However, my
aha moments included the topics: the volume of reading, matching students independent and
instructional reading levels to appropriate texts, expert interventionist, matching intervention to the
classroom curriculum, and group size. Volume of Reading I agree with Allington, the volume of
reading is a critical component which supports the quantity of extensive reading, required to ensure
struggling readers accuracy and fluency rates accelerate to develop proficient readers. Often the
reading interventions focus on specific reading skills such as phonics, word recognition, fluency
(speed), and etc. The research suggests the intervention time be dedicated to continuous reading versus
using the majority of the time working on individual skills. Allington provided me the critical
awareness and the importance of the quantity of extensive reading. I definitely will redesign my
intervention time to reflect the suggested amount of time to focus on individual reading skills and
extensive reading, as Allington suggested. Therefore, I look forward to incorporating extensive

Analysis Of The Article If Animals Could Speak
The first TV commercial aired on July 1, 1941 and it was only 10 seconds long. This ad featured a
very rough map of the United States with the company s logo over the heart of the map and only five
words said in it. (Luckin) Since the first ad, commercials have developed into very in depth systematic
ways for companies to show off their product to the consumer. Almost every large company has used
this method to brand themselves. The ASPCA is no different when it comes to this matter. They have
put out a numerous number of commercials to try to get people to donate to their cause. In the ad
entitled If Animals Could Speak the ASPCA uses gut wrenching images of animals, slow music, text,
and a desperate voice to successfully persuade the viewer into donating to their company or saving an
animal. If Animals Could Speak starts out with an image of a dog sitting in a cage. The camera slowly
begins to zoom in on the dog s face. While this is happening words slowly begin to appear on the
screen that say If I could speak I would tell you it hurts when you hit me. Next another image of a dog
is shown and words also slowly begin to show up on screen. This time the words say I would ask what
I did to deserve this. After that a cat that has bandages on both of its front legs is pictured. The words I
would say please give me a chance appear on the screen with the cat. Each one of these images is on
the screen for about 13 seconds. After this image fades away a new one

The Mende Man Pieces Together The Story Of Jesus Christ
Faith plays an important role in the Mende s road to freedom. When the word faith comes to mind, it
is one that concerns a belief in some power and requires perseverance in that belief. The Mende
people certainly showed faith in more ways than one, but an example that is true to the definition
mentioned before is one where Cinque and one of his fellow Mende look over the Bible. After
examining the pictures, the Mende man pieces together the story of Jesus Christ despite knowing very
little English. He shows the story to Cinque, and both men see how Jesus had unrightfully died, yet in
death he had arrived in a place more beautiful than the world on which he lived. As a response, Cinque
and his friend mustered up the faith to propel them ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With faith and hope, they entrusted all communications to Cinque and had faith that he would speak
for the best of all the Mende. This faith in Cinque as well as a faith in a better life after the trials
brought unity amongst the Mende people. From then on, they become more than just a tribe. Through
faith, they had grown close enough to consider one another family.
Consequently, family is another prevalent theme in La Amistad. Since the opening scene, the Mende
people considered themselves as one tribe, one people, and one family. This was shown when Cinque
bloodily unlocks his hand and ankle bindings in the bottom of the Amistad, but he does not stop there.
With bloody hands and fatigue overcoming him, he draws out extra strength to free his family around
him. In doing so, the Mende stay as one unit and work together to complete a successful insurrection
against the ship s crew, so that they can reunite with their beloved family members back in Africa.
However, rather than standing still and keeping quiet, they bring their home in Africa to America.
They bring the traditions that run in the Mende family and stay faithful in performing those traditions.
For example, when one Mende died in the prison, they attempted to hold a customary ritual to show
due respect and allow eternal peace for the soul of their recently passed family member. Although the
whites opposed them from doing so, the Mende people were fervent about their African duties and
respects towards

The Death Of The Moth
In her essay The Death of the Moth , Virginia Woolf depicts the struggle of life confronting death
through the death of a moth. Woolf sees a moth flying in a pleasant morning, mid September, mild,
benignant (385). She uses this soft autumnal description of her morning to emphasize the beauty of
life and the happiness one feels while being alive; however, she uses the moth to represent life itself
and show its own struggles: [the moth] tried to fly across...the window pane , but he failed (386). She
uses the moth s failure and awkwardness (386) to announce death s arrival and the moth s constant
effort to keep flying to show a desperation to hang on to life. Why moth is so attached to life?. After
perhaps a seventh attempt [the moth] slipped from the wooden ledge and fell, fluttering his wings,
onto his back on the window sill (385). No matter how bad the consequences of the moth s attempts to
fly, he was not going to surrender and after recognizing that there was something marvelous as well as
pathetic about the moth due to his constants attempts to live, Woolf stretched out a pencil, meaning to
help him to right himself , but when she notice the approach of death... [she] laid the pencil down
again (385). Woolf s use of the pencil instead of her own fingers shows how fragile the life of the
moth was and how careful she was trying to be to help the insignificant creature (385). However, her
shift from interest on the moth life to its death might

Major Themes In Sylvia Plath s The Bell Jar
The Bell Jar is a roman Ă  clef, which is defined as a true story with changed names. That being said,
many of the events included in this book are believed to be events that really happened to the author,
Sylvia Plath. A large part of these events revolve around a major theme, which is being trapped within
mental illness. Esther, the main character that is based off of Plath s personal journey through mental
illness, suffers from one and even tries to commit suicide multiple times. She is very unhappy with her
life along with the treatments that psychiatrists have her undergo. Many dated psychiatric treatments
did not help patients, and could have even caused them more harm due to lack of research and
knowledge about effects of the treatments. Esther is a great example of a patient that could have had a
different life if she had received different care.
Psychology has made many advances over the course of the last sixty years. Some of these advances
include a better understanding of the brain, and other advances include a better way to treat the brain.
In The Bell Jar, Esther suffered from a mental illness and had many opportunities to receive help, but
because psychology and therapy was not advanced at that time she did not receive much help at all.

unable to sleep, drink, or eat and Dr. Gordon asks her a single question before changing the subject

College Students Dropout
As a college student, why would they go through the process of filling out applications and paying all
of that money, just to dropout? The contributing factors that relate to college students dropping out are
putting social and recreational activities before class, students experiencing stress and paying for the
cost of tuition. Clearly, there are many factors that contribute to the high dropout rate among college
students.
The first factor that contributes to the high dropout rate among college students is students putting
social and recreational activities before classes. In college, students can participate in many
recreational/social activities. Some of the options they have to pick from are sororities/fraternities,
intramural sports, clubs and sporting events. All of these options take up time, which is why they need
to balance out school and recreational/social activities. Balancing out their education and activities or
devoting more time towards your education will be beneficial in the long run. It will be beneficial in
the long run since you won t fall behind in classes, since you are making equal time for everything.
Lack of study often leads to grades plummeting drastically. The college student could decide to
dropout due to the low grades all because they invested too much time in the recreational/social aspect
of college. Clearly, students putting social and recreational activities before classes is a cause of a
college student dropping out of college.

The Reading And Writing Connection
Reading and writing have many connections when it comes to everyday life and school. Students
would do better with by both reading and writing being taught together instead of separately rather
than being taught as two separate lessons. The article lists and discuss multiple ways for teachers to
integrate both reading and writing into their lessons. The article The Reading and Writing connection:
Merging Two Reciprocal Content Areas discuss the connection of reading and writing. It also
discusses the integration of the two can help struggling readers as well.
In today s classrooms they are integrating reading and writing in the same lessons, before they would
have separate lessons one with reading and the other with writing. In the article The Reading and

for each lesson and when that time passed they moved onto the next subject. When not having the

This would include reading and writing. Students will have to read what their pen pal sent but they
will also have to create a response to that person as well. Another way that the article said we could
implement the reading section is trying to collaborate pen pals with similar literary interest and have
them read the same book. This gives them something to also write about and discuss what they read.
Reading and writing connection is the most important part of education, I believe. Every subject will
have to deal with reading and writing. For students to really understand the reading and writing
connection they must allow students to make choices in what they are reading and enjoy the projects
that they will incorporate. If there are not authentic reading writing connections many students will

Rhetorical Analysis Of The Goat, Or Who Is Sylvia
Since the beginning of time, authors have used rhetorical strategies in order to persuade the reader of
their claims. These rhetorical strategies are used in everyday life whether people use it intentionally or
not. My purpose for writing this text is to provide you guys examples of rhetorical strategies using two
pieces of text. The first piece of text is by Edward Albee and it is titled The Goat, Or Who Is Sylvia.
The text is about a family going through turmoil. Martin, a married man with a gay son, reveals that
he is in love with a goat by the name of Sylvia. His love for Sylvia ultimately ruins his relationship
with his family. The author of this book, Albee, is known for being an American playwright director.
He has written several plays about relationships and marriage. The second text is Fear and Loathing in
Las Vegas, written by Hunter S. Thompson. The text was about a guy named Raoul Duke and his
attorney reporting the race during the Mint 400. Throughout the text, both men go on a drug binge and
consume countless amounts of substances. Thompson was an American journalist who traveled across

that the journalist has to be an integral part of his stories. Albee and Thompson have different views of

The Importance Of Character Development In Anthem
Character development is essential in a character driven literature, where the plot focuses not on the
events themselves, but actually on the characters motivations throughout their story. This literary
device is utilized step by step in order to focus and clarify the crucial aspects about the character in a
story. The stories that move us most, the ones that will be trapped inside our minds years later, are
those inhabited by characters the reader can connect with on a deep emotional level. No one character
can grasp in a story what they need to learn in order to give in or overcome their own limitations and
flaws without first undergoing rigorous life experiences. The bumpy path of individual growth and
development a certain character undergoes ultimately stares at a crossroad. Imperfections, traits and
vices make a character more genuine and interesting, making them grow as a person. Equality 7 2521
s development as a character throughout Anthem can be seen as a progressive move towards the
distinctive way of thinking he discovers and presents in the final chapters of the novel. It s an egoistic
way of thinking, because it asserts that the only goal of any individual human being should be to
pursue his own happiness, and not to subordinate his happiness to the service of others. Equality 7

influenced the development of his thoughts. There is quite a shift from the way

Michael Naranjo Argument Essay
Michael Naranjo s speech was lewd and obscene. In order to determine the school s ability to restrict
his speech, it must occupy the area within the capability of the school to extend its restrictions off of
campus. The test the court chooses to adopt will determine the school s rights to reach outside the
campus. Using the reasonable foreseeability test of reaching the campus, the Facebook page had many
of Michael s classmates and other students following it. Michael s case is distinguishable from cases
as Hannibal because the test of reasonable foreseeability applied to violent and threatening speech
rather than lewd or offensive. Hannibal, 647 F.3d 754. However, according to the facts as we know
them, drawings from the page did make it to campus and prompted complaints from students and

reasonable foreseeability for substantial or material disruption. Likewise, in the ninth circuit use of
foreseeability in Eugene, the type of speech is distinguishable from Michael s page. Eugene, 835 F.3d

His stated purpose for the page was to create a place for students to vent frustrations over the alleged
hiring practices of the school district. In Bell, the court used his stated intention of his speech to reach

school could then apply Tinker to the off campus threatening speech.

How Is Grendel s Mother Portrayed In Beowulf
13. The Danes and monsters have in a sense traded deaths, but it is not over yet. They have traded
deaths in the way that Grendel killed many of Hrothgar s warrior as they slept in the hall and then
Beowulf killed Grendel by slaying off his arm. Grendel s mother is now present and enters Herot, just
as her son did, and took a single victim . Grendel s mother is said to have taken a special members of
the Danish men in revenge for them killing her son. It states, She d taken Hrothgar s closest friend...
She d killed a glorious soldier, cut a noble life short. (Lines 18 20). Beowulf got revenge, now Grendel
s mother has, so next Beowulf is back to kill Grendel s mother.

As proof of his victory, Beowulf brings back the sword that he killed Grendel s mother with, and
Grendel s head. The poem states, The monsters hall was full of rich treasures, but all that Beowulf
took was Grendel s head and the hilt of the giants jeweled sword... (Lines 267 269). This quotes shows
that out of all the valuables he could have taken back to show the Danes, he took two that displayed
his victory the best and that the warriors would all be proud of. Beowulf swam up to land full of pride
with all his armor and these two objects in hand. The first thing he did upon his journey back was go
to salute Hrothgar and show him the objects he has brought back.
17. The sword that Beowulf presents to Hrothgar s is inscripted with letters and stories. Hrothgar s
notices that the sword has the original owner s name in runic letter. It also had stories of battles
between good and evil. The text says, and saw written there the story of ancient wars between good
and evil, the opening of the waters, the flood sweeping giants away, how they suffered and died...
(Lines 342 343). Earlier in the story we learn the giants built the sword and now Hrothgar unveils the
stories carved into the

During the 1960 s a woman s role in society was greatly changed through both social and legal means.
Women s rights movements in the United States date back to 1848 at the Seneca Falls Convention, but
were greatly ignored after women were granted the right to vote in 1920 by the nineteenth
amendment. Many reasons contributed to the reemergence of women s movements but the most
prevalent is the end of World War II in 1945. During World War II, more than three million women of
all classes of society voluntarily exchanged their aprons and jobs as a house wives and took up real
tools in factories. Women working in industrial jobs during World War II affected the mind set of both
men and women about the full capabilities of women. People could ... Show more content on

The commission worked to end job discrimination through legal means. The National Organization for
Women (NOW), whose goal it was to give women equality of opportunity and freedom of choice ,
also fought for women s rights and to get men and women the same job benefits. The EEOC, NOW
and organizations like it assured profound change for women by allowing them a legal opportunity to
file suit against discriminatory organizations. By the end of the 1960 s women significantly changed
their position in society and law and overcame sexism in several ways including breaking into male
dominated fields, moderate and radical thinking, breaking down male power structures and through
cultural expressions. Although women experienced profound cultural change during the 1960 s many
things including a male dominated society, the classic perception of women and opposition to equal
work undermined women s movements. Since the birth of the United States, men dominated almost
every part of society. This did not change much during the 1960 s. Other movements, including the
civil rights and anti war movements, were controlled by men. This represents American s view of
women as being inferior to men. Women were kept behind closed doors during these movements
because it was not seen as lady like to publically protest and fight injustices in society. Men also
dominated politics during

her. Jane named each chimp, other scientist thought that doing that was unprofessional. What did
Vanne do while Jane was gone? she helped local people with illnesses and sometimes even helped

Examples Of Danforth In The Crucible
Them that will not confess will hang (Miller 1324). Danforth, the main judge says this during the play,
The Crucible, to explain that those who are accused of witchcraft will be hanged if they do not
confess. During this moment in the play Danforth already demanded twelve people to be hanged.
Danforth killed twelve innocent people total. Danforth and the rest of the judges carry the blame for
the hangings in Salem during the witch trials because they only believe in the victims causing the
victims to not tell the truth and resulting in the deaths of many innocent people. Danforth only
believes in what the victims have to say, not the people being accused of witchcraft. When Danforth is
telling the others why he believes in the girls during court he explains that The witch and the victim.
None other. Now we cannot hope the witch will accuse herself; granted? Therefore, we must rely on
her victims and they do testify, the children certainly do testify (Miller 1301). Danforth is saying the
girls wouldn t lie because they are the victims. Danforth doesn t see that the victims could lie. He
knows the witch will not accuse herself. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another example of how Danforth carries the blame for the hangings and the deaths of many innocent
people is the death of Giles. When Giles was accusing Thomas Putnam of attempting to benefit of the
witch trials Danforth replies back with In that case, I have no choice but to arrest you for contempt of
this court (Miller 1299). Danforth arrested Giles for contempt of the court. Danforth believes Giles
knows something about the witchcraft. Later in the play, he was trying to get answers from Giles and
caused the death of Giles by pressing him with rocks. Danforth killed another innocent

Examples Of Contradictions In Fuzzy Logic
Contradictions in Fuzzy Logic
Kamp ([qtd. in Sauerland]) argue that it is absurd that p ∧ p has the same truth value as p ∧ p if p is
0.5, and the latter statement cannot have a truth value of 0.5, becauses how could a logical
contradiction be true to any degree? (qtd. in Sauerland 187). Sauerland ([year]) however thinks that
this is not the case: if p contains a vague variable, the statement does not need to be a contradiction to
be intuitive, e.g. What I did was smart and not smart, or Bea is both tall and not tall are statements
which are contradictions, and they still make sense although they are vague (186). I agree that What I
did was smart and not smart makes sense in vagueness and fuzzy logic: this statement might be false,
or true, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The same holds for sentences like What I did was smart and not smart (cf. Sauerland ([citation?]), but
sentences like he is tall and not tall are different: in this case you cannot say that the person is tall in
some respects and not tall in other respects (except maybe when you argue that the person turns out to
be a child who is tall compared to other children but not tall compared to adults), but more commonly
you express an average height by this, which is between your personal crisp boundaries of tall and not
tall respectively. Still, both sentences He is nice and not nice and He is tall and not tall are of the form
p ∧ p, and are not considered contradictions with a truth value of 0. But if you consider He is nice
and not nice as the person being nice and not nice in the same respect, then of course the contradiction
would be obviously present, in which case the truth value would indeed be 0 (I do not think that you
could interpret He is tall and not tall in a way such that its truth degree would be 0): it would then be
reasonable to interpret He is nice (in some respects) and not nice (in other respects) as rather p ∧ q
than p ∧ p, because the different contexts in which he is nice and not nice might be seen as concepts
which are not actually related, that is, the situations in

The Philippine government is divided into three branches the Legislative, Executive, and Judicial branches. The Philippine Congress is also bicameral it is made up of the Senate and the House of Representatives. The chief of the Executive branch in the Philippines is the President. The Presidents of the Philippines and the United States have similar powers: commander in chief of the military, the ability to enter into treaties with the concurrence of two thirds of the Senate, and the power to appoint ambassadors, public ministers and consuls. Several amendments in the Philippine Constitution were incorporated from the Constitution of the United States. Corruption and cronyism are widespread in business and government. A few dozen leading families hold a disproportionate share of land, corporate wealth, and political power. A culture of impunity, stemming in part from case backlogs in the judicial system, hampers the fight against corruption. The rule of law is generally weak as courts are hampered by inefficiency, low pay, intimidation, and corruption. Rodrigo Duterte, former Davao City Mayor, was elected as President in May 2016 and assumed office on June 30th, 2016. Although the football team gave everything they had to offer for their school, Mesquite did not give their all back for their team. During the intense practice, two young men slipped in through the gym doors by simply bypassing the school s poor exterior locks. This lack of security is unacceptable. Replacing the current door handles with cup handles will lead to higher quality security and benefit all teachers, students, and faculty. Choosing to install these new handles would ensure better safety in emergency situations and prevent future thefts for the school. Part Two: Current Efforts The school s main defenses consist of the doors and locks on campus. However if these doors and locks become damaged and cannot serve their full purpose, they contribute little safety efficiency to the school. The current locks placed on the exterior of the school are in poor working condition. A hard enough yank immediately pops the lock and allows access to the school. These handles and locks clearly create an issue for the school, because of the numerous break ins where valuable equipment and personal goods were stolen. These thefts are not an uncommon occurrence. Mesquites football team lost personal phones and wallets, the choir department lost expensive sound equipment, orchestra lost priceless instruments, the schools supply of sterling silver was stolen from the metals room, and the electronics department lost tools and equipment (Jones et al). Not only can these robberies be costly for the school to replace, but liability can be far more concerning. If a teacher or staff member was harmed while exiting the room to lock their door in ... • 5. Importance Of Baroque In Art A number of modern artists have focused on reflecting personal perception of the world through a contemporary Baroque style in art. The increasing popularity of Baroque nowadays is due to the complex processes that took place in society and the solutions the modern culture has to offer to resolve them. Truly, through the history, the emergence of Baroque elements has always reflected the complexity of human life, followed by technological progress and cultural exchange. Eventually, Baroque, the style characterized by extravagance and drama, has been defined as anti classical, innovative and experimental, intended to touch directly the beholder, individual of diverse and pluralistic society. At the same time, Baroque has influenced not every medium of art in the works of contemporary artists of the 21st century. Such elements as sculpture, architecture, and music have been hardly influenced by the inspirations of the previous centuries. Indeed, the style that has emerged during the period of discoveries in new sciences, exploration of new lands, increased trade and the reformation of church, could barely provide any solutions for artists born three centuries later, especially in those mediums of art, where the reference for the past signifies of the regression of an art element development. Indeed, it is not possible to imagine someone could compete with Gianlorenzo Bernini in feeling of the Baroque style in sculpture. Thus, the most prominent works of the artist, known for ... Summary Of Petruchio In Shakespeare s Taming Of The Shrew In the play The Taming of The Shrew by Shakespeare Katherine has been tamed by Petruchio because throughout the play she seems more and more innocent and you start to think she isn t acting anymore. Also she has not learned to love him but instead it is her giving into him because she has no other choices. The first part is how she yells at him in public and he says that it s all okay and that she is doing it because she loves him. Then at the wedding she finally asks him to stay instead of yelling at him. Finally her last monologue shows how she has given in and if he wants to love her than she will love him back. When Petruchio meets Katherine in the small room and they talk, they get into a huge fight and Katherine is throwing things at him and saying how much she hates him. But while this is happening Petruchio remains calm and talks to her in a calm manner as if everything is fine. Then once they come out of the room Katherine is saying how bad Petruchio is and how much she hates him. But Petruchio says that this is all a joke and that she will act like this in public but she doesn t really mean it because it is all an act. Petruchio says ... Tis bargained twixt us twain, being alone, that shall still be curst in company. Petruchio is saying that she loves him when they are alone but that she will act badly in public. Q: Since gaining independence in 1957, which social cleavages have been important in shaping the identities of political parties in Malaysia? As is the case for many (relatively) new democracies, Malaysia s electoral backdrop has been influenced by competing social cleavages since gaining its independence in 1957. But which social cleavages have been important in shaping the identities of political parties in Malaysia? The resulting cleavage structure is the product of complex relations of crosscutting and reinforcing cleavages largely defining the setup of a party system which outlines political platforms, individual party behaviour, and the potential for coalition forming. To assess which cleavage structures have typically divided voters within a given party system, the party system must have been frozen whereby the party system has effectively politicised a certain issue dimension where political parties emerge from and have maintained their relevance in the system due to the salience of such issues. For many Western democracies, Lipset and Rokkan assessed that two revolutions have been responsible for structuring certain cleavages in party systems: the national revolution was responsible for politicising the differences of the centre/periphery and the religious/secular while the industrial revolution characterised the urban/rural and capital/labour divides. However, Malaysia is a relatively new democracy. There has never been a national revolution which divided the centre/periphery and the religious/secular, nor was it the case of urban/rural and capital/labour divides of the industrial revolution at least not to the point of freezing the party system. So how can we apply the model put forth by Lipset and Rokkan to account for the politicisation of social cleavages in Malaysia? Ufen writes that the structures of party systems mirror real social ... • 8. Essay on Henry s Diagnosis of Conduct Disorder Throughout the movie The Good Son there are many examples of Henry s mental illness. Because of his aggression towards animals and people, the destruction of property, deceitfulness, and serious rule violations, Henry is diagnosed with Conduct Disorder (CD) (American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, 12/10/09). Throughout the movie Henry demonstrates all of these characteristics. He shattered windows on an old warehouse by throwing rocks. Henry also shot and killed a dog and showed no remorse in doing so. These actions are unjustifiable to the mind of a normal person, but they are completely normal to Henry. The first example of Henry s (CD) is the attempts on his sister s life. Henry attempted to kill his younger sister ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Moreover, another event from the movie that shows his (CD) is his attempt to kill his mother. After running away from her in the woods and hiding, he tries to push his mother of a cliff. This plan was once again stopped by Mark. This ultimately led to Henrys death. This shows just how maladaptive or out of touch with the world Henry was. As I pointed out earlier, Henry was a very intelligent and manipulative child. He convinced his parents and other elders around him to believe that he was the perfect child and tried turning them against his cousin Mark. He even had Mark s doctor believing that Mark had a problem. According to (American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, 12/10/09) both of these events are characteristics of (CD). Furthermore, Henry s behavior is very atypical. This can be seen when Henry reveals the crossbow that he personally made. Then Henry proceeds to show Mark how it works by firing it and nearly missing a cat. When Marks said that it was close to hitting the cat, Henry responded by saying yeah the scopes not dialed in yet , meaning that the whole time Henry was aiming to kill the cat. However, this does not stop Henry. The next day, after fixing the scope, Henry aims at a dog, shoots and kills it. This shows that Henry has no problem killing animals as well as people, which is yet another characteristic of (CD) (Mayo Clinic, 12/10/09). • 9. Electron Affinity And Ionization Energy Recently in class we have discovered the meaning of electron affinity and ionization energy. We know that ionization energy is the energy required to be absorbed when an ionic bond removes an electron from an atom. We also know that electron affinity is how easily an atom will accept an electron into its shells when trying to make itself neutral. This means that both of these terms play a big role when an atom loses or gains an electron. The ionization energy is the energy to remove an electron from an atom. A trend for ionization energy is that it generally increases left to right across a row on the periodic table except for the noble gases which have closed shells. For example, lithium requires only 520 kJ/mol to ionize it while helium, the noble gas right next to it in the periodic table, requires 2372 kJ/mol. The ionization energy can be thought of as opposite to the electronegativity of an element in the way that a low ionization energy gives away that an element easily loses electrons to a reaction, while a high electronegativity shows that an element strongly wants to have electrons in a reaction. The electron affinity is an amount of energy that changes when ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Electron affinity, on the other hand, describes the energy that is released when an electron binds to an atom. This tells us that since energy is released, the electron affinities will be negative. Another example of the differences between electron affinity and ionization energy is that ionization energy is related with making cations from neutral atoms due to the fact that it measures the amount of energy needed to remove an electron. In contrast, electron affinity is related with making anions due to the fact that it is the amount of energy that changes when a negative ion is formed from an electron being added. There are pros and cons to taking a gap year, but it all depends on what he or she may want to do later to in life and how soon students want to begin. Are students satisfied with the major or career, he or she is going to study right after high school? The idea of taking a gap year after high school is the best way to prepare a student for college because they can work for an entire year to help pay for tuition, explore college options, and get a break from the 13 years of receiving an education. Moreover, if a high school graduate takes a gap year he or she is able to work full time for a year and make more money to pay for college. A full year will actually surprise students on how much they can do to put into savings, A year of earning money full time can go a long way toward paying for college. • 12. Using The Reimbursement Model, And The Wage Payment Model Undue inducement in human subject scientific research occurs when scientists offer an incentive that incites participants to enter a study that poses significant risks which they otherwise would not participate in, or when participants could be recruited for less compensation. The main concern about undue inducement is that its coercive influence may distort the test subjects judgment, compromise their voluntariness, or impair their ability to give informed consent. Without informed consent, the researchers are no longer respecting the partakers autonomy, the research then cannot be deemed as ethical. Three monetary payment models were proposed to mitigate the potential risks of undue influence: the market model, the reimbursement model, and the wage payment model. Using the principlist approach, I will argue that while it is ethical to pay research subjects for their participation in a study, undue inducement is still an existing issue, and the wage payment model is the most morally permissible model for this case. To begin with, Christine Grady states that an amount of money that is not excessive may, rather than constitute an undue inducement, be an indication of respect for the time and contribution that research subjects make. Beyond that, the payments ensure that the participants do not end up financially damaged. Every step toward the goal of justice requires sacrifice, suffering, and struggle; the tireless exertions and passionate concern of dedicated individuals. In layman s terms, a sacrifice is the act of relinquishing an object or action that one desire in order to obtain something of equal value. The two characters, although from different pieces of literature have a common goal, which is to be successful, but go about it in a different manner. In Victor s case, he attempted to be successful by reanimating life. The different accidents of life are not so changeable as the feelings of human nature. I had worked hard for nearly two years, for the sole purpose of infusing life into an inanimate body. For this I had deprived myself of rest and health. I had desired it with an ardour that far exceeded moderation; but now that I had finished, the beauty of the dream vanished, and breathless horror and disgust filled my heart. Unable to endure the aspect of the being I had created (Shelley 56). The quote is significant because it depicts the feelings that Victor underwent as he was creating the creature and how he felt no compassion towards his creation, but rather utter disgust. We will care about others feelings, and make it a priority to have my classroom as a comfortable setting in which my students can learn. • 30. Informative Speech On Content Implementation Plan Essay Content Implementation Plan I am appreciative for the valuable information I obtained from this course. I intend to incorporate the researched practices into my reading program. Allington addressed several critical components of instruction necessary to ensure reading interventions are delivered with the best intentions and students are responding successfully to the reading interventions. However, my aha moments included the topics: the volume of reading, matching students independent and instructional reading levels to appropriate texts, expert interventionist, matching intervention to the classroom curriculum, and group size. Volume of Reading I agree with Allington, the volume of reading is a critical component which supports the quantity of extensive reading, required to ensure struggling readers accuracy and fluency rates accelerate to develop proficient readers. Often the reading interventions focus on specific reading skills such as phonics, word recognition, fluency (speed), and etc. The research suggests the intervention time be dedicated to continuous reading versus using the majority of the time working on individual skills. • 31. Analysis Of The Article If Animals Could Speak The first TV commercial aired on July 1, 1941 and it was only 10 seconds long. This ad featured a very rough map of the United States with the company s logo over the heart of the map and only five words said in it. (Luckin) Since the first ad, commercials have developed into very in depth systematic ways for companies to show off their product to the consumer. Almost every large company has used this method to brand themselves. The ASPCA is no different when it comes to this matter. They have put out a numerous number of commercials to try to get people to donate to their cause. In the ad entitled If Animals Could Speak the ASPCA uses gut wrenching images of animals, slow music, text, and a desperate voice to successfully persuade the viewer into donating to their company or saving an animal. If Animals Could Speak starts out with an image of a dog sitting in a cage. The camera slowly begins to zoom in on the dog s face. While this is happening words slowly begin to appear on the screen that say If I could speak I would tell you it hurts when you hit me. Next another image of a dog is shown and words also slowly begin to show up on screen. This time the words say I would ask what I did to deserve this. After that a cat that has bandages on both of its front legs is pictured. The words I would say please give me a chance appear on the screen with the cat. Each one of these images is on the screen for about 13 seconds. After this image fades away a new one ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. The Mende Man Pieces Together The Story Of Jesus Christ Faith plays an important role in the Mende s road to freedom. When the word faith comes to mind, it is one that concerns a belief in some power and requires perseverance in that belief. The Mende people certainly showed faith in more ways than one, but an example that is true to the definition mentioned before is one where Cinque and one of his fellow Mende look over the Bible. After examining the pictures, the Mende man pieces together the story of Jesus Christ despite knowing very little English. He shows the story to Cinque, and both men see how Jesus had unrightfully died, yet in death he had arrived in a place more beautiful than the world on which he lived. As a response, Cinque and his friend mustered up the faith to propel them ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With faith and hope, they entrusted all communications to Cinque and had faith that he would speak for the best of all the Mende. This faith in Cinque as well as a faith in a better life after the trials brought unity amongst the Mende people. From then on, they become more than just a tribe. Through faith, they had grown close enough to consider one another family. Consequently, family is another prevalent theme in La Amistad. Since the opening scene, the Mende people considered themselves as one tribe, one people, and one family. This was shown when Cinque bloodily unlocks his hand and ankle bindings in the bottom of the Amistad, but he does not stop there. With bloody hands and fatigue overcoming him, he draws out extra strength to free his family around him. In doing so, the Mende stay as one unit and work together to complete a successful insurrection against the ship s crew, so that they can reunite with their beloved family members back in Africa. However, rather than standing still and keeping quiet, they bring their home in Africa to America. They bring the traditions that run in the Mende family and stay faithful in performing those traditions. For example, when one Mende died in the prison, they attempted to hold a customary ritual to show due respect and allow eternal peace for the soul of their recently passed family member. Although the whites opposed them from doing so, the Mende people were fervent about their African duties and respects towards ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Woolf sees a moth flying in a pleasant morning, mid September, mild, benignant (385). She uses this soft autumnal description of her morning to emphasize the beauty of life and the happiness one feels while being alive; however, she uses the moth to represent life itself and show its own struggles: [the moth] tried to fly across...the window pane , but he failed (386). She uses the moth s failure and awkwardness (386) to announce death s arrival and the moth s constant effort to keep flying to show a desperation to hang on to life. Why moth is so attached to life?. After perhaps a seventh attempt [the moth] slipped from the wooden ledge and fell, fluttering his wings, onto his back on the window sill (385). No matter how bad the consequences of the moth s attempts to fly, he was not going to surrender and after recognizing that there was something marvelous as well as pathetic about the moth due to his constants attempts to live, Woolf stretched out a pencil, meaning to help him to right himself , but when she notice the approach of death... [she] laid the pencil down again (385). That being said, many of the events included in this book are believed to be events that really happened to the author, Sylvia Plath. A large part of these events revolve around a major theme, which is being trapped within mental illness. Esther, the main character that is based off of Plath s personal journey through mental illness, suffers from one and even tries to commit suicide multiple times. She is very unhappy with her life along with the treatments that psychiatrists have her undergo. Many dated psychiatric treatments did not help patients, and could have even caused them more harm due to lack of research and knowledge about effects of the treatments. Esther is a great example of a patient that could have had a different life if she had received different care. Psychology has made many advances over the course of the last sixty years. Some of these advances include a better understanding of the brain, and other advances include a better way to treat the brain. In The Bell Jar, Esther suffered from a mental illness and had many opportunities to receive help, but because psychology and therapy was not advanced at that time she did not receive much help at all. Balancing out their education and activities or devoting more time towards your education will be beneficial in the long run. It will be beneficial in the long run since you won t fall behind in classes, since you are making equal time for everything. Lack of study often leads to grades plummeting drastically. The Importance Of Character Development In Anthem Character development is essential in a character driven literature, where the plot focuses not on the events themselves, but actually on the characters motivations throughout their story. This literary device is utilized step by step in order to focus and clarify the crucial aspects about the character in a story. The stories that move us most, the ones that will be trapped inside our minds years later, are those inhabited by characters the reader can connect with on a deep emotional level. No one character can grasp in a story what they need to learn in order to give in or overcome their own limitations and flaws without first undergoing rigorous life experiences. The bumpy path of individual growth and development a certain character undergoes ultimately stares at a crossroad. Imperfections, traits and vices make a character more genuine and interesting, making them grow as a person. Equality 7 2521 s development as a character throughout Anthem can be seen as a progressive move towards the distinctive way of thinking he discovers and presents in the final chapters of the novel. (qtd. in Sauerland 187). The same holds for sentences like What I did was smart and not smart (cf. Sauerland ([citation?]), but sentences like he is tall and not tall are different: in this case you cannot say that the person is tall in some respects and not tall in other respects (except maybe when you argue that the person turns out to be a child who is tall compared to other children but not tall compared to adults), but more commonly you express an average height by this, which is between your personal crisp boundaries of tall and not tall respectively. Still, both sentences He is nice and not nice and He is tall and not tall are of the form p ∧ ÂŹp, and are not considered contradictions with a truth value of 0. But if you consider He is nice and not nice as the person being nice and not nice in the same respect, then of course the contradiction would be obviously present, in which case the truth value would indeed be 0 (I do not think that you could interpret He is tall and not tall in a way such that its truth degree would be 0): it would then be reasonable to interpret He is nice (in some respects) and not nice (in other respects) as rather p ∧ ÂŹq than p ∧ ÂŹp, because the different contexts in which he is nice and not nice might be seen as concepts which are not actually related, that is, the situations in ...
