A Current View Of Shiite Terrorist Organization
Although there are many terrorist activities brought to the public s attention daily, most people only
have awareness of a few prominent terrorist groups. Terrorist organizations such as Hezbollah have
made a significant impact in parts of the world, yet few people have heard of them. Throughout this
paper, characteristics of Hezbollahwill be examined such as, formation, leaders, purpose, influences,
financial support, associations and their impact to the world. Finally, this paper will present a
current view of the Shiite terrorist organization Hezbollah. Hezbollah, a radical Shi a Muslim group
located in southern Lebanonwas formed with the purpose of liberating Jerusalem through
establishing an Islamic government across the Arab world as well as the group does not
acknowledge the authority of the State of Israel. There are many names that Hezbollah has been
referred to such as Party of God, Organization by the Oppressed of Earth, and the Revolutionary
Justice Organization. The United States State Department labeled Hezbollah a foreign terrorist
organization. In 1982, the Shiite terrorist organization Hezbollah was founded as part of the Iranian
s government and led by religious clerics. Although it was founded then, Hezbollah s foundation
was formed around June 4th, 1967 which was the start to the six day war. After announcing the
foundation of Hezbollah by Ali Akbar Motashemi, Sheikh Subhi Tufaili became the first secretary

I Am A Second Grade English Language Arts Teacher
In my five years of being a third grade English Language Arts teacher, the implementation of
guided reading has been my biggest struggle. My school has fully adopted the guided reading
program within the past 2 years. A guided reading library and books for professional development
have been purchased, but very little training has occurred. The journey of learning how to
successfully teach Reading using Jan Richardson s approach to guided reading has been a
challenge to say the least. Scheduling has been the largest obstacle I have faced in implementing
guided reading in my classroom. I have spent this summer researching and reading about guided
reading in an attempt to gain further understanding of the process and the outcomes before the next
school year begins. Guided reading is a method of teachingreading that be used with every reader,
whether they are just beginning to read, struggling to read, or are able to read independently
(Iaquinta, 2006). According to Anita Iaquinta, there are three fundamental purposes for using
guided reading. The first fundamental purpose is to meet all of the ranges of instructional needs of
every student in the classroom. The second fundamental purpose for guided reading is that it
enables students to significantly build and expand their reading abilities. The final fundamental
purpose of guided reading is for students to learn how to read increasingly difficult texts (Iaquinta,
2006). Guided reading lessons are completed in small groups

American Marriage Culture
It can be argued that one of the most important aspects of culture are marriages. The union of two
people to symbolize the propagation of a system of belief and ideas passed down which become
inherent to their identity. Almost every culture has some type of marriage ritual in which unite two
different families and create an integral bond. Yet the similarities in the placed importance of
marriage traditions are not the same across the board, and their traditions also differ as well. Each
cultureor group of people have different marriage customs, and do not share the same meaning of
what a marriage is or what it holds in society. The purpose of this paper is to analyze how
American marriage culture is different from Arab or Chinese. The paper... Show more content on

While researching and trying to notice cultural difference between each one an idea stuck out
and already made a distinction. Two words kept coming up for arab and chinese marriages
which were, honor and stigma. While all three had an exchange of some sort between families
arab and chinese seemed more of a transaction of honor and stigma while, American marriages
were more of a romantic transaction and take on the idea of marriages. (Philip) stated This is the
image of the date as an outing to a restaurant, a movie theater, or a romantic getaway at the
seaside or at a luxurious (and romantic) hotel . What this means is the extent of what americans
go through to emphasize the romantic aspect of a relationship. As stated in (Alean Al Krenawi
Stephen O. Jackson) compared and contrasted the honor and stigma that arab men and women
should bring to their families when getting married and what they should uphold. For example,
the honor of a man in arab culture is being able to keep his family free of sin and dishonor, while
the honor of a woman is being a pure woman and always doing the right thing to keep the family
happy. (Ho) stated for a woman to bring honor to her family in chinese culture she must follow
these three rules follow one s father when young, follow one s husband when married, follow one
s son when old. While many American marriages still had a sense of what one can bring to the
table honor and stigma were not so big in the discussion from what was documented in my

Aerospace Engineer
I believe destiny and hard work go hand in hand (Chopra). This quote was said by priyanka
chopra. He was explaining how much his work means to him and that life requires hard work. In
this job one can create models of engineering designs and explaining methods for different items.
Electrical, Electronics, and mechanical are just some subjects one might get to experience with.
Artificial intelligence systems are just one of the items one might design.
An advantage of being an aerospace engineer is it great pay. Aerospace engineers are very fortunate
it to get good pay for what they do. Most engineers get paid every week or every two weeks. One
can get paid as much as up toward 400 dollars a day but if one would only work 8 hours they get
$320. One is guaranteed a job because the government is always in need. When it s time to retire
they give a good plan and reasonable life insurance. They also will give one a pension for all the
years of hard work over the years of service. Typical aerospace engineers make around $107,803
per year. They are always in competition with others to be the best so one will get more money.
Average pay per hour is around $51.84 which is better then a fast food restaurant.... Show more

Essay On Unified Modeling Language
The Unified Modeling language (UML) was released by the Object Management Group (OMG)
in the effort to provide a standardized design language to build and develop computer
applications. The purpose of the design language is to allow IT professionals to distribute system
structure and design plans in a comprehensible graphical manner, similar to blueprints of a
building. Modeling is an important part of software projects, large and small. With modeling, the
software development team are better able to work with the end user in providing a visual
program design. Surveys reveal that the development of large software applications have many
impediments and have a large probability of failure. Modeling provides a greater opportunity for...

The use case diagram s purpose is to help development teams visualize the functional
requirements of a system, including the relationship of actors (human beings who will interact
with the system) to essential processes, as well as the relationships among different use cases.
The class diagram shows how the different entities (people, things, and data) relate to each other.
The Sequence diagrams is almost self explanatory, it shows a detailed flow for a specific use
case or even just part of a specific use case. The statechart diagram models the different states
that a class can be in and how that class transitions from state to state. Activity diagrams show the
procedural flow of control between two or more class objects while processing an activity. A
component diagram provides a physical view of the system. Its purpose is to show the
dependencies that the software has on the other software components (e.g., software libraries) in
the system. The deployment diagram shows how a system will be physically deployed in the
hardware environment. Its purpose is to show where the different components of the system will
physically run and how they will communicate with each other. Two main criticisms of UML is
whether diagrams are needed at all, and during what stage of the software development process
they should be used, also, the frequency of any updates of the diagrams. The other is that the UML
diagrams just lack the detail

My Experience At The Museum Service Of Fifty Visitors
During the course of her fieldwork she studied the discourse (what people say), the practice (what
people do) and the experience. For doing her study discourse she conducted a visitor survey for the
museum service of fifty visitors. In her questionnaire she asked about visitors demographics, the
experiences of museums visiting in general, as well as elicited visitors attitudes. She further
combined her data with already existing secondary data, such as visitor statistics and comment
forms that helped to compare her future data of prevalent attitudes and establish the main
informants for future interviews. From these initial surveys she distinguished various demographics
of Croydon inhabitants, such as class, gender, ethnicity, life style choices and sexuality that she
made sure to include in her research. Following established goal Anat Hecht gained access to
eighteen visitor households, six households from three main demographic localities of Croydon.
Anat Hecht also established lasting relationships with fifteen staff informants, with librarians,
security staff, cleaners, as well as museums front and back gallery professionals. These two
different groups of informants and the comparison of what they say and do helped the researcher to
understand and deepen her studied subject. Anat Hecht confessed her difficulties in establishing
rapport with her respondents. The reason for it was that the first contact was made in the museum

What Is Dry Information
Wet and Dry Information: Dry information, also known as formal information, is non contextual,
unambiguous, standardized, routinized, and is often used to explain how to do certain tasks. Dry
information is easily replicated and easily transferrable due to it s universal language among peers.
Examples of dry information include quantifiable measures, such as, facts, statistics, and routine
procedures explaining how to do something. Where as, wet information, also known as informal
information is developed from social interactions which can often be described as contextual,
unorganized, and demonstrating local values. Wet information is often used to connect one form of
information to another, thus, explaining why it is exactly that we should do certain tasks.
Examples of wet information include qualitative... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are many technological advancements that have come to impact our society and human
behavior. For example, prior to the advancement of technology, we as a society used to
communicate with one another through personal interactions of through the traditional measures
of pen and paper. In contemporary times, due to the advancement of cell phones, we now as a
society have conformed to communicate with one another primarily through the use of a cellular
device. Another example of how technology has impacted human behavior is how we currently
able to gather information. As a society, we used to have to go to the library and look things up by

computers and the internet. We are also able to gather daily news from around the world through

Essay about National Security vs. the Right to Privacy
When the Challenger space shuttle blew up. Students gathered in the student lounge for hours,
watching in disbelief. In a way, it was more existential than September 11. We watched the same ten
seconds of the shuttle explosion over and over again, without there being a trace of the Shuttle
anywhere in the world. That day was a technological disaster, a mechanical disaster that Americans,
in our inimical fashion, could quickly fix.
What students watched on September 11, 2001 was a social and political disaster. Watching the
events unfold was a lot less existential and a lot more practical because it is a disaster that will
have a far greater impact on their world and they, in turn, can affect that impact.

Perhaps we will insist, despite what our engineers tell us, that big buildings be built stronger.
Consider that when an admittedly lighter, slower plane (a B 25 bomber traveling at about 200 mph)
crashed into the Empire State Building in 1945, that majestic skyscraper sustained relatively little
damage.
But most of our rethinking will concern law how we will balance understandable demands for
improved security with our right to privacy, our freedom to travel, our free speech, our policy of
welcoming immigrants, and our commitment to a tolerant society. Once we learn how the
terrorists learned to fly these Boeing planes, should we place new restrictions on pilot training?
Access to flight simulators? First Amendment experts may rightly be concerned about such
restrictions we may have, in effect, a replay of the debates about publishing how to build a bomb.
As to privacy, expect a rash of proposals to improve security which will have varying degrees of
impact on people s anonymity. There had been some outcry earlier this year when (unbeknownst
to them) fans attending this year s SuperBowl in Tampa Bay had their faces scanned for matches
to criminal records. A few headlines have also been made by cameras meant to capture, red handed
so to speak, people who run stop lights. We can expect September 11 to shift the debate about such
surveillance, with more citizens preferring

Raising The Age Limit For Teen Drivers
Patience is a Virtue: Raising the Age Limit for Teen Drivers
One of the most anticipated moments in a teenager s life is when they finally pass the driving
exam and get to stare into their own fresh, gleaming, brand new driver s license. This is certainly
a life changing moment for any teenager, but not in the way they would expect. Sadly, car
accidents with teens at fault cause more injuries and deaths than any other demographic in the
world. While getting a license at 15 or 16 may be a commonplace milestone of the American way,
the associated risks of having young teens driving without restriction are simply not worth the
privilege of being able to drive at such an early age.
Teens simply aren t developed enough to reliably handle the mental necessities of operating a
vehicle, just as they aren t developed enough to make adult decisions entirely on their own.
Studies from the American Academy of Pediatrics found that, there is evidence from MRI
research that the prefrontal cortex (the area of the brain responsible for planning, impulse control,
and executive decision making) does not mature fully until the early to mid 20s . Due to this,
teens are also less likely to understand the dangers of risky behavior while driving a car. Teens are
natural risk takers and participate in many other risk taking behaviors in the same years they re
getting their permits and licenses. A 2005 study by the National Institute of Child Health and
Human Development found that,

The Argument Against the Health Care Reform Law
Healthcare in a Bundle People getting taxed on their hard earned money may be going to people
who need it or to those who do not. The Healthcare reform law is not a reasonable solution for
people who cannot afford or do not have private health insurance. The healthcare reform law has
been the center of a heated debate for some time now within the House and the Senate. The Obama
administration has been pushing healthcare reform since its beginnings in 2008 and has finally
pushed the law through Congress. This was a difficult process simply because some of the
members of Congress wanted the Supreme Court to judge if the healthcare law was constitutional.
The Supreme Court however did not side with these members of Congress. They ruled... Show

Such as how it might cost a person with insurance a $100 or more to get a checkup. The reason
this was so was simply so the hospital could cover for people who did not have insurance or
could not afford it. Now since the healthcare reform law has been passed and people will now all
be eligible for insurance whether if they can afford it or not. These high prices on checkups and
other things at the doctor would seem to be no longer needed since everyone will have
insurance. In that case how is it certain that doctor s previous incomes will remain the same
throughout this change? Will the new insurance policies still cover the prices that doctors
previously charged for their services? This is not known yet and still remains a big question as
to if doctors will make the same as they did before the healthcare reform law. Another big issue
with the new healthcare reform law is that it is given in the form of a tax. Many people are fine
with their money going to help people who cannot find work or Alexander 4 cannot work at all.
There are many people however that most people do not want their money going to. These people
are the type who may abuse the system and live off of it without trying to find work. However, the
affirmative side has some counterarguments for the reasons why the concerns listed above are
invalid. The opposing side may say that the healthcare reform law does not hurt states rights
because it still gives states the

Have fresh juice during the winter by freezing leaf juice into ice cubes in stainless steel trays.
Gardening tip: When planting, give chickweed some room to spread out or grow vertically on a
trellis.
Benefits Of Chickweed
Internal: Chickweed cleanses the kidneys and urinary tract. Like dandelions, chickweed has the
unique ability to remove fluids from the body without depleting potassium levels like
pharmaceuticals. Chickweed juice can help prevent leaky gut by coating the stomach and
digestive tract. I like to use a combination of chickweed and marshmallow to lubricate the entire
digestive system and repair any leaky gut damage. External: When used regularly, chickweed salve
relieves inflammation, stiff joints and shrinks lipomas. Rinsing your dog s coat in chickweed will
remove dry skin and dandruff.

Appellate Court Case Analysis
To render justice case by case is the primary task of our courts. Other courts and branches of
government also, the social and economic fabrics of our lives are impacted by court decisions.
The justice that is done in individual cases helps and aids to bring order to the society in which

Persuasive Essay On Cannibalism
We had to eat these dead bodies, and that was it , this is what Andes plane crash survivor, Roberto
Canessa, had to say about his experience with cannibalism. Cannibalism is the consumption of a
member of the same species. Consuming human flesh is lawful in the United States, therefore
cannibalism is legal (Eveleth). In the eyes of the law, murdering someone to eat is wrong, but the
act of eating a human is not. To Americans the simple thought of eating another human is sickening.
To most that is true, but to others consuming human flesh is a way of life. Some cultures practice
cannibalismfor their own spiritual beliefs and others have to eat human flesh to survive. Human
flesh has proteins most want when eating meat. Thousands of years ago cannibalism had a
different reputation than it has today in American society. Cannibalism is a way to survive,
with the proteins necessary to do so, and a way for cultures to express their beliefs. Although
there are many reasons to eat human flesh, cannibalism is a taboo topic most people do not
know enough about. People eat people for a variety of reasons, the most well known being killers
getting a thrill from eating their victims. Although not everyone who is a cannibal gets a high
from eating humans, Americans still see it as evil. Jeffrey Dahmer is the most well known
example of this, a man who gets a sexual desire from killing and eating his victims. Everyone
across America knew of this man and what he did, and nobody would

Hosea, Jeremiah, and the Deuteronomistic History Essay
Hosea, Jeremiah, and the Deuteronomistic History
Hosea, Jeremiah, and the Deuteronomistic History text are complementary because it talks about
the relationship of the people of Israel and God, Kingship and religion and the warn them about the
punishment that accompanies. Though the message is the same the mode each took to deliver a God
message is different.
The primary goal of the Deuteronomistic History is the perception of Kingship and religion, the
word Deuteronomistic History was first formulated by Martin Noth in 1943. It refers to those
historical writings (also known as former prophets), the books consist of Joshua, the judges,

Lord, the God of Israel, who had appeared to him twice, and had commanded him concerning this

Therefore the lord said to Solomon, since this has been your mind and you have not kept my

and give it to your servant. The Deuteronomistic History talks about the kingship of David, Saul
and Solomon but portrays the monarchy as corrupt, improper and always bringing calamity to
the people. Hosea uses his marriage to a prostitute as a means of preaching to the people of
Northern Israel. God commanded Hosea to marry a prostitute named Gomer, the daughter of
Diblaim, his Israel past figured prominently in Hosea s prophecies to Israel. Mercy and judgment
are also important themes in Hosea s message. He was a prophet of eventual hope and immediate
doom, given the understanding the covenant of blessing and curses as outline in the Tora. His
message stems from the covenant violation motif as reflected in the lawsuit YHWH has brought

conflicting religious ideologies of Canaanite Baalism and Hebrew Yahwism (Hos. 4:4) (Hill and

Citizen Kane Meaning Essay
The use of lighting in this film was very pretentious and was used to add good aspects to Citizen
Kane. The lighting changed based off what the mood corresponded for example, some scenes had
a copacetic or pleasant mood. In the beginning, the scene was a very formidable scene. The lighting
was dark which portrayed fear towards the audience. The mood was implying fear and almost an
alarming mood for the viewers the lighting helped entail this by giving dark, hair raising lighting.

shouting should we take Spain to war? . I noticed that the lighting in the beginning of the scene
was darker but as soon as the band hit the first few beats, the lighting grew much brighter, showing
the mood of this particular scene was upbeat and happy. This scene was also much brighter (and
mood) than the opening scene where the lighting and mood were dark. Overall, the lighting in this
film was very well done whether it showed the dark and fearful mood or to portray a storm or
something along the lines of that. The lighting also did change throughout the film primarily to
correspond the mood if it was supposed to cause fear in viewers, the lighting was darker and made
the characters look more sinister like in the scene where Kane held the snow globe while

Collect Quality Data
Emergence of Tools and Methods to Collect Quality Data While it is easy to decide that quality
needs attention in emergency medicine the first question when reviewing something is of course,
how? Tools and methods must be developed when investigating anything in order to collect
information. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) describes quality measures
as tools that help us measure or quantify healthcare processes, outcomes, patient perceptions, and
organizational structure and/or systems associated with the ability to provide high quality health
care and/or that relate to one or more quality goals for health care (CMS, 2015). In order for
quality measures to be used, however, how is that data collected? According to CMS... Show more

Some of the highest amounts of rainfall in years was brought by a storm in Azusa, California. The
storm had brought up to eight inches on some mountains. That is not even close to enough of the

Even though the storm was strong and remained that way for a little longer than the weekend, the

A Christian View Of The Bible
I believe in a Liberal Evangelical view in terms of the authority of scripture. I am Evangelical in
that I believe that the bible is infallible in all that is trying to affirm, and that the central narrative
can be relatable, and inspiring to every person, and every people group around the world. This is
because the Holy Spirit is involved in this process from both the compositional, and readability
aspect. I am liberal in that I cannot affirm that the bibleis the only written work of God. I can only
affirm that is the only fully infallible written scriptural work. The issues of psuedonymity, the
Synoptic Problem, Genesis 1 11, and the rewritten Bible have all been noticed as problematic areas
for one s hermeneutic. This paper will largely be a presentation of my hermeneutical implications
through these issues.
I do not believe the issue of psuedonymity to be a problematic area for what I believe in terms of
the inspiration of scripture. The authors of these epistles can still be inspired even though they may
not be apostles. They may have learned under an apostle, and may therefore be able to write using
their name because they can respond in a way that the apostle himself would. Also, by writing as
apostles, the credibility of these authors instantly becomes more authoritative to the first century
audience. Lastly, these books went through the intensive canonization process that all of the new
testament books went through, which is further proof of their inspiration.

The Destruction Of Self Individuality In America Today
The Destruction of Self Individuality In a world where people are edged to act as their own,
comes the contradiction of perspicacity. If, and when, what you do, wear, or feel doesn t align
with society s description of ideal; it then falls as an act of rebellion, misconduct, or the seeking
of attention. Today, as individuals of society, we are eradicating each other other not by the
temperament of a person, but by the image we portray everyone to be. Anything more or less
than that is anathema. Individuality is limited and under attack in America today. The
destruction of self individuality takes place during all stages of life, not just as an adolescent.
Although children often do not take into consideration the thoughts of those around them, does
not make them any less susceptible to it. As children we are taught that pink is a girl color and
blue is for boys, girls play will dolls and boys play with trucks, girls must always behave properly
and boys will be boys . We limit the desired toys they want, option of favorite colors, and the
option of distinct originality. We often do not realize the restrictions we set on the younger
generations because those are the rules of society, and we must play the game. As the teenage years
approach, we enforce more rules at a stricter rate. At this point in time, what you... Show more

But we must keep it in our minds that freedom of individuality is only ours to a certain extent .
The limitations are set out far worse than the few examples mentioned. Our society is not very
accepting of anything over or under what we consider normal, and that s the thing. This is our
society that we are all a part of, and are all guilty of being a part of the destruction. There will
never be a change until the realization is clear to all. If we want a change, it starts with us.
Individuality is under attack in America today, and we the people are attacking

Child Prostitution As An Illegal Act
Across the world each day, there are hundreds of cases of children unwillingly partaking in
prostitution. In 2002, research by Willis and Levy stated, Child Prostitution involves offering
the sexual services of a child or inducing a child to perform sexual acts for any form of
compensation, financial or otherwise. (Willis Levy 2002) Children who encounter such sexual
activities under the age of eighteen are considered children, and is seen as illegal. Individuals who
are older than eighteen are no longer a child in the government s eyes. For the past decade, or so,
the world has done their best to look at childhood prostitutionas an illegal act shutting down
facilities and speaking up for children whose voices are not always heard. Through prostitution,
trafficking, and the black market of trade have been of recent concern for all parties due to the
illegal acts of using, selling, and purchasing children. The new millennial has brought forth many
issues with these particular means because of the unforeseen futures of these innocent
children.Throughout the years the number of children that have been harmfully touched or talked
to in a damaging way has increased drastically. Willis and Levy stated in an article that, an
estimated 1 million children are forced into prostitution every year and the total number of
prostituted children could be as high as 10 million. (Willis Levy 2002) This number is growing

Similarities Between Human And Human Information Processing
Topic: A comparison between human and computer on information processing
Do humans and computers really process information similarly? My essay was inspired when I
read how early psychologists and scientist used the newly invented computer to explain the
complexity and processes of the brain. This was the beginning of cognitive psychology. Before I
compare the differences and similarities between computer and humans on information processing,
it is only necessary to highlight the history of cognitive psychology and the information processing
model. Cognitive psychology is defined as, the scientific study of the mind as an information
processor (McLeod, 2015). Cognitive psychologist developed a cognitive model by focusing on
processes such as memory, attention, consciousness etc. To study human processes, cognitive
psychologist mainly used a nomothetic approach but instances where they conduct case studies
they would adopt an idiographic approach. The development of cognitive psychology was due to
several reasons. firstly, there was a dissatisfaction with the behaviorist simplistic explanation of
behavior. Secondly, they wanted to develop better experimental methods to investigate cognitive
processes. Lastly, because of the invention of computers, cognitive psychologists wanted to explore
the similarities between humans and computers processing of information.
It was the computer analogy that aided cognitive psychology in studying the complexity of the
human mind

The League Of Nations And The United Nations
After the first world war, the first organization which will bring countries together was the League
of Nations. the League of Nations was urgent to maintain a strategic distance from a redundancy of
the abhorrences of the Great War. The primary points of the association included demobilization,
avoiding war through aggregate security, settling question between nations through transaction and
discretion, and enhancing worldwide welfare. Unfortunately, they failed and their failures caused
the second world war. Then, after the world war II decided to replace the League of Nations by a
new organization named the United Nations. Their main goals were maintaining international peace
and security and to give a worldwide institutional structure through which states can here and there
settle conflicts with less dependence on the utilization of power. The six main organs of the United
Nations are the General Assembly, the Security Gathering, the Trusteeship Council, the Economic
and Social Council, the International Court of Justice, and the Secretariat Every organs has an
alternate part. For example, the General Assembly is the principal deliberative organ of the
United Nations involved all Member States(in which five great powers and ten pivoting part states

size or impact. It might talk about any matter emerging under the UN Charter. Choices on

The Tasks Of A Freelancer
As 16th April is observed as Stress Awareness Day and April as Stress Awareness Month, I wish
to share a few tips that can help you all, specifically freelancers, to lead a stress free and happy
life. Nevertheless, stress is often contemplated as negative feeling, but preparing yourself to
reducing and pacing with it is the gateway to many great opportunities.
The tasks of a freelancer, is a slackly defined amalgam of projects, tasks, time, and a plethora of
other responsibilities to stretch you in all direction possible. There are times, it often happens to
me, when it all gets too much to handle and you burry under the weight of what seems to be almost
impossible. Any freelancer at some stage of his/her career is going to encounter such situation. But
such moments of anxiety are like water bubbles which fade away instantly. To alleviate stress and
remain focused on your business you can do a lot in your daily life. Here are some tips that have
always worked as panacea for me.
1. Optimistic Thinking: Positive thinking is a powerful weapon in weeding out the negative vibes.
Going Orwellian is not the solution, it means you appropriately address the negative and emphasize
the positive.
2. Take it lightly: Most of your worries are not within your control, especially if you are a
freelancer. Let the worries go. There is no point of worrying over something that is beyond your
territory.
3. Relax: Take time off your schedule to learn some relaxation techniques and

The Natural Disasters Of San Francisco
There are so many natural disasters throughout the world that happen every day; some worse than
others. The 1906 San Francisco earthquake would be one of the worse disasters. Many people were
killed and wounded on that day. Although the earthquake lasted less than a minute, it still caused
the worst natural disaster in the country s history. The California earthquakeis known to be one of
the most remarkable earthquakes of all time.
San Francisco is known to be the Paris of America . It was very popular in industry and culture at
the time. San Francisco had about 410,000 locals and kept gaining more and more rapidly. The day
before the devastating and terrifying event, everyone was going on throughout the day like they
normally would. No one was expecting what was about to happen that next morning.
The next morning at 5:12 a.m., on April 18, 1906 an enormous earthquake shook San Francisco.
It was an estimate of 7.8 8.3 on the Richter scale. Although only lasting about 40 60 seconds, it
destroyed many homes and businesses and killed numerous people. Many were left homeless,
without a place to go. Out of the 410,000 people who lived in San Francisco, about 300,000
people were without a home and around 3,000 people lost their lives throughout the state of
California. The earthquake was devastating. The survivors had to sleep in tents and wait in long
lines for food.
The earthquake also started fires that burned for three days. Within just a few hours 52 fires had
started.

Jumping Frog
Based on Mark Twain s comparisons of a comic versus humorous story, The Celebrated Jumping
Frog of Calaveras County, is Twain s most famous humorous story. How to Tell a Story by Mark
Twain is clearly shown in this jumping frog story and abides by the rules he has set forth
according to the countless expert storytellers he has heard from by word of mouth. Today we
will explore what makes the jumping frog story a humorous one rather an a witty one and
explain how Twain accomplished what he did. From the subject of telling a story gravely , how
one tells a nub , and how it contrasts to a comical story. The secret is being expressionless. Twain
mention that in order to master a humorous story, it must be told gravely. Well, what does that
exactly mean? In the first few paragraphs we can see how our author presents Simon Wheeler as
seemingly to have an impartialness, neutrality, yet true genuineness about him as he tells the story.
To the author, nothing seemed ridiculous to him no matter how crazy the story progressed. That is
exactly what gravely means. When a person builds up a story as a bland, ordinary thing although it
is evidently the contrary, it becomes the most comedic tale, and that is what Twain takes advantage
of in Wheeler s personality, whether he realizes it or not. It takes a seasoned... Show more content

grow fat; when we see one we have a crack at it (Remarque 128). Remarque explains through his
novel that the rats are fat, numerous, and feast off bodies in No Man s Land. All of these
statements are factual. Anthony Brandt, *credibility needed*, explains that As the machine of war
ground away, so many corpses accumulated in no man s land that the stench of rotting flesh
became ubiquitous. The corpses in turn attracted fat brown Norway rats in extraordinary numbers
(Brandt). Brandt validates each of the three claims made by Remarque in his book. The trench
rats in World War One were frighteningly large due to eating the corpses of soldiers in No Man s
Land, and were substantial in number. At the 10:05 mark of the documentary named The Arming

Religious Tradition in Shirley Jackson s The Lottery Essay
Religious Tradition in Shirley Jackson s The Lottery
While The Lottery is a fictitious story it can be argued that it mirrors the attitude of American
culture in how it addresses religious tradition in its major holidays and celebrations.
Two of the biggest holidays in the United States are Christmas and Easter. Both of which are
derived from Christian beliefs. Even though The Lottery is apparently a pagan ritual, violent and
horrific, it is appropriate, only by the fact that the participants no longer remember, or seem to care,
what the original intent of the ritual or the significance of its traditions.

Only when we are introduced to Old Man Warner, the only man in the village old enough to
remember some of the traditions, do we get an idea of the purpose of the lottery. It seems to be a
pagan harvest ritual, as expressed by his old saying: ??Lottery in June, corn be heavy soon??
(Jackson 369). By participating in the lottery the villages crops will prove to be bountiful. He
justifies the use of the lottery simply by stating ?There?s always been a lottery? (Jackson 369).
Furthermore, Old Man Warner is horrified at the thought of ever stopping the lottery. When another
villager speaks of other towns that have done away with the lottery he says, ?Pack of crazy fools?
(Jackson 369),and ?Nothing but trouble in that? (Jackson 369)
Only two traditions survive from the original ritual: the drawing of lots by the head of the
households and subsequent drawing of the chosen family, and the use of stones for the dastardly
deed.
By using the heads of households in the initial round of the lottery, the blame could be passed
off to him. The eldest men, and only the men were supposed to draw from the first round as
expressed by ?Don?t you have a grown boy to do it for you, Janey?? (Jackson 368) and ?Glad to
see your mother?s got a man to do it.? (Jackson 368) were responsible for their families and the

Account for the Failure of Nationalist Movements in...
Account for the general failure of nationalist movements in Southeast Asia in the period 1900 1941.
The failure to achieve political independence of pre war nationalism in Southeast Asia was mainly
due to the interplay of nationalist factors, impact of colonial response and inherent society
composition. Nationalist disunity watered down mass support which was key to success, while
colonial rule hindered the development of nationalism and the nature Southeast Asian society made
unification hard to achieve. Different causes had different level of significance in different

Furthermore the SCBA was in fact pro British and even aided Britain in her war effort. In the
Philippines, sincere American concessions such as Filipinization and mass education to equip local
leaders with requisite training for office left the nationalists with little scope to agitate over,
resulting in placid movements like Partido Nacionalista. This showed how colonial concession was
a hindrance to the politicization of movements. Lastly colonial implementation of carrot and stick
concurrently exacerbated the existing divisions between nationalists groups making a unified front
impossible. In Burma the British harshly suppressed the radical pongyis which had the mass
mobilization ability but was benevolent towards the moderate Western educated politicians who
were able to achieve constitutional progress. In Malaya the British emphasized on policies
protecting Malay rights in administration and land, leading to a series of Chinese and Indian
movements demanding equal racial rights such as the SCBA and CIAM. This divide and rule
policy ruled out the possibility of a combination of mass support and political capability which will
then challenge the colonial government. In addition, the very nature of Southeast Asian society was
that it is deeply divided along class, cultural racial and religious

The Negative Effects Of Canadian Cinema
A nation s cultural texts are often used and appropriated in its quest for self definition.2 Canada s
national identity is a much debated topic and has often been conceptualized as a crisis, especially
through important cultural products like film. Canadian cinema bears a responsibility of reflecting
and creating a national identity, with blurred boundaries and a lack of coherent definition.
Negatives often seem to outweight positives; Canadian cinema, more prominently its English
industry, is considered amateurish and boring, and one bad Canadian filmtends to reflect on the
industry as a whole. These views often derive from Canadians themselves, and such self loathing

Though such policies have arguably improved the state of the Canadian industry, many problems
still persist. Funding cuts began to take their toll on the industry in the mid 1990s, with the NFB

domestic market, a fact that still remains true years later after the American vertical integration in
1927.22 The Canadian economic dependence on the American film industry, as will be discussed
in the second part of this essay, is one of the key obstructions of Canada s cinematic identity, as
well as its identity at large. The industrial context of Anglo Canadian cinema has heavily affected
the views that Canadians hold of themselves as they consume national films, but it goes the other
way as well; the collective films of a nation can reveal much about its collective consciousness,
acting as a metaphor for its state of mind.23 The second part of the essay will examine Canada s
insistence on comparing its films to Hollywood models due to the industrial contexts previously
mentioned, then reveal the problematic implications of defining Canada s identity in that

Most conditions that cause pain in the back are not linked to any genetic predispositions.
Myth #7: Pain in the lower back will eventually go away without any medical intervention.
While most cases of pain will subside on its own, the root of the problem will not be solved
without a medical evaluation.
Myth #8: Back pain is only in the lower back.
Pain that begins in the lower back may radiate to the upper back, neck and shoulders.
Myth #9: Applying heat to the lower back helps an injury heal.
A cold ice pack should be used after an injury first occurs. Afterwards, heat can be used

Jurors In 12 Angry Men
The movie 12 Angry Men was about twelve male jurors, brought together in a deliberation room
to decide whether a boy is guilty of killing his father. The deliberation began with an 11 1 vote for
guilty. As the movie progressed, the one man who had a reasonable doubt about the guilt of the
young boy, convinced the other members of the juryto question the facts ultimately leading to a
unanimous vote for innocence. There were two obvious leaders in this movie, Juror number 1, the
foreman and Juror number 8, the man who stood alone with a not guilty verdict. This paper will
discuss these two jurors and how they led the group to reach its goal.
About the Jurors
Juror number 1 was the jury s foreman and responsible for keeping the group under control and on
task. As soon as the group entered the room he positioned himself by saying All right, gentleman,
let s take our seats (Fonda Lumet, 1957). When they did not follow orders he added a bit more
authority to his tone and ordered everyone to sit down. Later, as things started to become unruly, he
stepped in and asserted himself a bit more with the statement, All right, let s stop the arguing, who s
got something constructive to say? (Fonda Lumet, 1957).
Juror number 1 was effective at keeping the group on task and keeping the process moving.
The other, Juror number eight was the one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Juror #1 was a transactional leader. He was assigned to do a specific job and he was able to
maintain control of the team. Manning and Curtis identify eight characteristics that make a team
successful, one of them is a clear, elevating goal, some others are a collaborative climate,
competent team members, standards of excellence and unified commitment (2012). Juror number 1
was able to keep the focus on the clear elevating goal of determining the boy s guilt or innocence,
which ultimately led the group to a

A Company Which Is Publicly Traded In The U.S. Is Required
A company which is publicly traded in the U.S. is required to submit the 10 K form to Securities
and Exchange Commission (SEC) once a year. The 10 K form is a comprehensive report of a
company s performance. This report is essential to an investor for evaluating a company s financial
health. For this assignment, I have chosen to consider Macy s Inc. 10 K form and evaluate its
financial condition. I am going to discuss about Macy s Merchandise Inventories including the
inventorymethod used by Macy s, Cost of Sales to net Sales Ratio, Inventory Turnover and Days in
Inventory.
Macy s Inc. Merchandise Inventories
Merchandise Inventory is a material acquired by a retailer for the purpose of selling it to the third
party. The three methods... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Yet, it is legal under Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Since the U.S. complies
with the GAAP guidelines, most of the retail industries use LIFO method of inventory.
Macy s Inc. reported merchandise inventories of $5506 millions and $5399 millions during the
financial year of 2015 and 2016 respectively (Macy s 10 K form, p. 60). This resulted in Macy s
merchandise inventory declining by $107 million ($5506 $5399 = $107) from 2015 to 2016. Thus,
the percentage decrease in inventory would be 1.94 %. Percentage Change = ($5399 $5506) $5506
x 100 = 107 5506 x 100 = 0.0194 x 100 = 1.94 %
Cost of Sales and Net Sales
Cost of Sales and Net Sales are another important component of an income statement for assessing
a company s financial health. As mentioned in Macy s 10K form, the cost of the sales and net sales
in 2015 were $16,496 millions and $27,079 millions respectively. Whereas the cost of sales and net
sales in 2016 were $15,621 millions and $25,778 millions respectively (p. 16). Therefore, the ratio
of cost of sales to net sales in 2015 would be 0.609 or 60.9% ($16,496/$27,079 = 0.6091) and the
ratio of cost of sales to net sales in 2016 would be 0.605 or 60.5% ($15,621/$25,778 = 0.605). The
ratio of cost of sales to net sales is a part of ratio analysis, which is used to check the efficiency of
the business (Kumar, 2012). It is also used to calculate the gross

  • 3. I Am A Second Grade English Language Arts Teacher In my five years of being a third grade English Language Arts teacher, the implementation of guided reading has been my biggest struggle. My school has fully adopted the guided reading program within the past 2 years. A guided reading library and books for professional development have been purchased, but very little training has occurred. The journey of learning how to successfully teach Reading using Jan Richardson s approach to guided reading has been a challenge to say the least. Scheduling has been the largest obstacle I have faced in implementing guided reading in my classroom. I have spent this summer researching and reading about guided reading in an attempt to gain further understanding of the process and the outcomes before the next school year begins. Guided reading is a method of teachingreading that be used with every reader, whether they are just beginning to read, struggling to read, or are able to read independently (Iaquinta, 2006). According to Anita Iaquinta, there are three fundamental purposes for using guided reading. The first fundamental purpose is to meet all of the ranges of instructional needs of every student in the classroom. The second fundamental purpose for guided reading is that it enables students to significantly build and expand their reading abilities. The final fundamental purpose of guided reading is for students to learn how to read increasingly difficult texts (Iaquinta, 2006). Guided reading lessons are completed in small groups ... • 4. American Marriage Culture It can be argued that one of the most important aspects of culture are marriages. The union of two people to symbolize the propagation of a system of belief and ideas passed down which become inherent to their identity. Almost every culture has some type of marriage ritual in which unite two different families and create an integral bond. Two words kept coming up for arab and chinese marriages which were, honor and stigma. While all three had an exchange of some sort between families arab and chinese seemed more of a transaction of honor and stigma while, American marriages were more of a romantic transaction and take on the idea of marriages. (Philip) stated This is the image of the date as an outing to a restaurant, a movie theater, or a romantic getaway at the seaside or at a luxurious (and romantic) hotel . What this means is the extent of what americans go through to emphasize the romantic aspect of a relationship. As stated in (Alean Al Krenawi Stephen O. For example, the honor of a man in arab culture is being able to keep his family free of sin and dishonor, while the honor of a woman is being a pure woman and always doing the right thing to keep the family happy. (Ho) stated for a woman to bring honor to her family in chinese culture she must follow these three rules follow one s father when young, follow one s husband when married, follow one s son when old. The use case diagram s purpose is to help development teams visualize the functional requirements of a system, including the relationship of actors (human beings who will interact with the system) to essential processes, as well as the relationships among different use cases. The class diagram shows how the different entities (people, things, and data) relate to each other. The Sequence diagrams is almost self explanatory, it shows a detailed flow for a specific use case or even just part of a specific use case. The statechart diagram models the different states that a class can be in and how that class transitions from state to state. Activity diagrams show the procedural flow of control between two or more class objects while processing an activity. A component diagram provides a physical view of the system. Its purpose is to show the dependencies that the software has on the other software components (e.g., software libraries) in the system. The deployment diagram shows how a system will be physically deployed in the hardware environment. Its purpose is to show where the different components of the system will physically run and how they will communicate with each other. Two main criticisms of UML is whether diagrams are needed at all, and during what stage of the software development process they should be used, also, the frequency of any updates of the diagrams. • 11. Raising The Age Limit For Teen Drivers Patience is a Virtue: Raising the Age Limit for Teen Drivers One of the most anticipated moments in a teenager s life is when they finally pass the driving exam and get to stare into their own fresh, gleaming, brand new driver s license. This is certainly a life changing moment for any teenager, but not in the way they would expect. Sadly, car accidents with teens at fault cause more injuries and deaths than any other demographic in the world. While getting a license at 15 or 16 may be a commonplace milestone of the American way, the associated risks of having young teens driving without restriction are simply not worth the privilege of being able to drive at such an early age. Teens simply aren t developed enough to reliably handle the mental necessities of operating a vehicle, just as they aren t developed enough to make adult decisions entirely on their own. Studies from the American Academy of Pediatrics found that, there is evidence from MRI research that the prefrontal cortex (the area of the brain responsible for planning, impulse control, and executive decision making) does not mature fully until the early to mid 20s . Due to this, teens are also less likely to understand the dangers of risky behavior while driving a car. Teens are natural risk takers and participate in many other risk taking behaviors in the same years they re getting their permits and licenses. These high prices on checkups and other things at the doctor would seem to be no longer needed since everyone will have insurance. • 26. A Christian View Of The Bible I believe in a Liberal Evangelical view in terms of the authority of scripture. I am Evangelical in that I believe that the bible is infallible in all that is trying to affirm, and that the central narrative can be relatable, and inspiring to every person, and every people group around the world. This is because the Holy Spirit is involved in this process from both the compositional, and readability aspect. I am liberal in that I cannot affirm that the bibleis the only written work of God. I can only affirm that is the only fully infallible written scriptural work. The issues of psuedonymity, the Synoptic Problem, Genesis 1 11, and the rewritten Bible have all been noticed as problematic areas for one s hermeneutic. This paper will largely be a presentation of my hermeneutical implications through these issues. I do not believe the issue of psuedonymity to be a problematic area for what I believe in terms of the inspiration of scripture. The authors of these epistles can still be inspired even though they may not be apostles. They may have learned under an apostle, and may therefore be able to write using their name because they can respond in a way that the apostle himself would. Also, by writing as apostles, the credibility of these authors instantly becomes more authoritative to the first century audience. Lastly, these books went through the intensive canonization process that all of the new testament books went through, which is further proof of their inspiration. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 27. The Destruction Of Self Individuality In America Today The Destruction of Self Individuality In a world where people are edged to act as their own, comes the contradiction of perspicacity. If, and when, what you do, wear, or feel doesn t align with society s description of ideal; it then falls as an act of rebellion, misconduct, or the seeking of attention. Today, as individuals of society, we are eradicating each other other not by the temperament of a person, but by the image we portray everyone to be. Anything more or less than that is anathema. Individuality is limited and under attack in America today. The destruction of self individuality takes place during all stages of life, not just as an adolescent. Although children often do not take into consideration the thoughts of those around them, does not make them any less susceptible to it. As children we are taught that pink is a girl color and blue is for boys, girls play will dolls and boys play with trucks, girls must always behave properly and boys will be boys . We limit the desired toys they want, option of favorite colors, and the option of distinct originality. In 2002, research by Willis and Levy stated, Child Prostitution involves offering the sexual services of a child or inducing a child to perform sexual acts for any form of compensation, financial or otherwise. (Willis Levy 2002) Children who encounter such sexual activities under the age of eighteen are considered children, and is seen as illegal. Individuals who are older than eighteen are no longer a child in the government s eyes. For the past decade, or so, the world has done their best to look at childhood prostitutionas an illegal act shutting down facilities and speaking up for children whose voices are not always heard. Through prostitution, trafficking, and the black market of trade have been of recent concern for all parties due to the illegal acts of using, selling, and purchasing children. The new millennial has brought forth many issues with these particular means because of the unforeseen futures of these innocent children.Throughout the years the number of children that have been harmfully touched or talked to in a damaging way has increased drastically. Willis and Levy stated in an article that, an estimated 1 million children are forced into prostitution every year and the total number of prostituted children could be as high as 10 million. • 29. Similarities Between Human And Human Information Processing Topic: A comparison between human and computer on information processing Do humans and computers really process information similarly? My essay was inspired when I read how early psychologists and scientist used the newly invented computer to explain the complexity and processes of the brain. This was the beginning of cognitive psychology. Before I compare the differences and similarities between computer and humans on information processing, it is only necessary to highlight the history of cognitive psychology and the information processing model. Cognitive psychology is defined as, the scientific study of the mind as an information processor (McLeod, 2015). Cognitive psychologist developed a cognitive model by focusing on processes such as memory, attention, consciousness etc. To study human processes, cognitive psychologist mainly used a nomothetic approach but instances where they conduct case studies they would adopt an idiographic approach. The development of cognitive psychology was due to several reasons. firstly, there was a dissatisfaction with the behaviorist simplistic explanation of behavior. Secondly, they wanted to develop better experimental methods to investigate cognitive processes. Lastly, because of the invention of computers, cognitive psychologists wanted to explore the similarities between humans and computers processing of information. It was the computer analogy that aided cognitive psychology in studying the complexity of the human mind ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Tasks Of A Freelancer As 16th April is observed as Stress Awareness Day and April as Stress Awareness Month, I wish to share a few tips that can help you all, specifically freelancers, to lead a stress free and happy life. Nevertheless, stress is often contemplated as negative feeling, but preparing yourself to reducing and pacing with it is the gateway to many great opportunities. The tasks of a freelancer, is a slackly defined amalgam of projects, tasks, time, and a plethora of other responsibilities to stretch you in all direction possible. There are times, it often happens to me, when it all gets too much to handle and you burry under the weight of what seems to be almost impossible. Any freelancer at some stage of his/her career is going to encounter such situation. But such moments of anxiety are like water bubbles which fade away instantly. To alleviate stress and remain focused on your business you can do a lot in your daily life. Here are some tips that have always worked as panacea for me. 1. Optimistic Thinking: Positive thinking is a powerful weapon in weeding out the negative vibes. Going Orwellian is not the solution, it means you appropriately address the negative and emphasize the positive. 2. Take it lightly: Most of your worries are not within your control, especially if you are a freelancer. Let the worries go. How to Tell a Story by Mark Twain is clearly shown in this jumping frog story and abides by the rules he has set forth according to the countless expert storytellers he has heard from by word of mouth. Today we will explore what makes the jumping frog story a humorous one rather an a witty one and explain how Twain accomplished what he did. From the subject of telling a story gravely , how one tells a nub , and how it contrasts to a comical story. The secret is being expressionless. Twain mention that in order to master a humorous story, it must be told gravely. Well, what does that exactly mean? In the first few paragraphs we can see how our author presents Simon Wheeler as seemingly to have an impartialness, neutrality, yet true genuineness about him as he tells the story. To the author, nothing seemed ridiculous to him no matter how crazy the story progressed. That is exactly what gravely means. When a person builds up a story as a bland, ordinary thing although it is evidently the contrary, it becomes the most comedic tale, and that is what Twain takes advantage of in Wheeler s personality, whether he realizes it or not.
