Analysis of the Play Candide Essay
In Act One of Candide, there is four scenes, the first scene is entitled Westphalia, when the scene is
first introduced the music has a happy sound, similar to that of circus music and as the introduction
goes on the music goes from an allegro tempo to a peaceful and dream like piano sound and grave
tempo. As the music continues to come in the lights continue to brighten on stage as well as if the
music and lights are tied together. As the cast came out they performed the opening song during this
song they harmonized really well. In Scene One the audience is introduced to the Baron and Baroness
of Westphalia, Baron Thunder ton Tronck and Baroness; the Baron is a baritone, his voice is low but
not low enough to be a bass; the Baroness is a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During a later part of Scene Two when the cast is dancing the movements match the music, they
appeared to be doing the Waltz, so the music had abrupt changes. In Scene Three: Cadiz, the orchestra
plays some sad and somber music at the beginning. As the scene progresses the music goes from dark
and dismal to happy and cheerful. During one of the songs of Scene Four: Paris the Old Lady,
Cunegonde and Candide were discussing a flight and the music being played by the orchestra matched
the lyrics bringing the idea of a flight to life. The Old Lady has a mezzo soprano voice she executes all
of her notes well in the song. At the end of scene three Candide, Cunegonde, and the Old Lady leave
to go to a new place and in the song they sing there are rounds, which were well executed. It helped
change the mood again which brightened up the audience. In Act Two, Scene One: Buenos Aires, the
music has a fast tempo and the music is being played at a forte level, as the music continues it
suddenly softens to piano and the tempo slows down. Later in the scene during one of the songs you
could hear a washing board being played which added a new sound to the music the audience was
hearing. When the audience is being introduced to the Commander, a song that has a Spanish sound is

Analyze The Benefits Of A Professional Learning Community
A professional learning community is composed of collaborative team whose members work
interpedently to achieve common goals linked to the purpose of learning (Kronowitz, 2012). The
benefits of a professional learning community and new teacher mentor in an educational setting is
great. Both programs meet the needs of students and teachers. The professional learning community
brings educators together sharing ideas, experiences, working together collaboratively, improving
teaching skills and academic performances of the students. Strengthening teachers planning,
mentoring, and providing more strategies.

Theology 9B, A Block

Genesis: Chapters 11 20
Chapter 11
Characters: LORD, the family tree of Shem
Main Theme(s): This chapter shows the family tree of Shem to Abram.
Major Events/Teachings: This chapter talks about the family from Shem s family all the way to
Abram, which is the son of Terah. The chapter ends with the wife of Abram, Sarai, having no children
and how they traveled from Chaldeans to go to the land of Canaan. Once they got to Canaan, they
settled there and lived there.
Impressions: I do not know what to think about chapter 11 of the book of Genesis. This is so because
the entire chapter is a long family line that starts with Shem and goes all the way to Abram. It also
talks about the family of Abram, such as his wife, Sarai, and how she could not ... Show more content

same time, God is fulfilling his covenant that He made with Abram, who moved to Hebron.
Chapter 14
Characters: Abram, Melchizedek, God, and Lot
Main Theme(s): Abram saves Lot s life.
Major Events/Teachings: In this chapter, there was a battle between all of the kings of the nations and
Lot is arrested an put in prison. The people of Canaan invaded Sodom. Melchizedek eventually
blesses Abram in the name of the Lord. Abram finds stolen goods and returns them to the town.
Impressions: My impression of this chapter is that the kingdom arrested Lot and stole all of his
valuable goods. Abram is being brave enough to release Lot and find the stolen goods and return them
to the people. The battle between the kings made a point in Israel s history.

INTRODUCTION
A scholarly work that has received widespread attention and recognition in the Strategic Management
area and beyond is Porter s (1980, 1985) typology of generic competitive strategies: Cost leadership,
differentiation, and focus. These three actually fall into two basic categories. The focus strategy calls
for concentration on a niche or a narrow segment. But Porter says that success in this strategy can be
achieved either via cost leadership or differentiation. Thus, cost leadership and differentiation are the
two basic strategies in Porter s typology. These two then are the subject of discussion in this paper.
This contribution of Porter (1980, 1985) has had a deep and pervasive influence on business theory
and practice. Since then many strategists from diverse fields have examined or made reference to his
work. Most of this voluminous literature appeared during the eighties and the nineties. The purpose of
this paper is to offer a critique of Porter s work, and a synthesis of this literature. Thompson and
Strickland (2008, chap. 5) have expanded Porter s generic strategies from three to five: overall low
cost provider strategy, broad differentiation strategy, best cost provider

Crime Statistics In The 19th Century
In England and Wales, the police record serious offences of which they are aware, but this does not
represent all crimes that are committed in the country. No set if statistics is ever entirely accurate and
recent changes to the collection and publication of crime statistics indicate that politicians are aware
that (Maguire 2007). The first country to gather national statistics on crime was France. In 1826 this
begun with the first published analysis of those statistic being presented by Adolphe Quetelet in 1842.
Crime recorded by the policed has been issued in England and Wales since 1876.
There are two core approaches which are used to try and measure the level of criminal activity.
Number one there is the information that is collected by criminal justice agencies, and this data
contains crimes that are reported by the public or offences that come to the attention of the authorities
in other ways. Method number two includes gathering evidence from sample populations about their
experience of the assault, often known as victim surveys. The police collect records of the ... Show

The victim is too scared to report it.
The British crime survey has for some time found that the feeling that the matter is too trivial is the
most commonly cited reason for not reporting, or the victim felt that the police could do little about
the offence. About violent crime, furthermore, the most common reason given for non reporting was
that victims considered the issue to be a private matter and wished to deal with it themselves. Crimes

Batman s Spider-Man
In comic book origin stories, there is a common theme a sort of call to action. Usually, the hero has
lost something close to them that causes them to don their costume and protect the world from
something like that happening again. For Superman, his planet was destroyed. For Batman, his parents
were taken from him when a robbery went bad. For Spider Man, a burglar killed his Uncle Ben. As a
teenager, this could have led Peter Parker down a road of crime and sorrow, but instead, he chose to
listen to his uncle s last words, with great power comes great responsibility. And ever since his first
appearance in Amazing Fantasy #15 in 1962, the web slinger has had the responsibility of protecting
New York City.

Pros And Cons Of Nuclear Radiation
Nuclear Radiation Good or Bad? Nuclear Radiation Nuclear radiation is the process by which an
unstable isotope loses energy. There are three types of radiation, alpha, beta and gamma. Alpha is the
weakest, gamma is the strongest (can pass through almost anything) Dangerous radiation Alpha
radiation can be highly dangerous when ingested whereas gamma radiation can inflict damage
externally with its ability to pass through almost any surface. Inhaling alpha radiation can cause lung
cancer. The most common way of inhaling alpha radiation is through tobacco smoke. If water
becomes contaminated by alpha radiation, if consumed, can cause kidney and chromosol damage.
Gamma radiation can cause radiation poising. Side effects of this could be nausea, vomiting, bleeding,
mouth sores, nausea, diarrhea and loss of hair. Xenon 133 Atomic number 54 Xenon 133 emits
ionizing particles to lose energy and become stable. It emits beta radiation and a small amount of
gamma radiation when it decays. After decaying is becomes the stable isotope Cesium 133. It has a
half life of 5.243 days. Xenon 133 is primarily used for imaging the lungs and assessing pulmonary
function. The gas doesn t occur in the body nor is used by the body, the gas passes through the cell
membranes in the human body and has a better solubility in body fats than in blood or plasma. If you
had a sample of Xenon 133 in your pocket then you might experience coughing, difficulty with

Demonstrative Communication

Demonstrative Communication is the process of sending and receiving messages. These messages
exchange thoughts or information in a verbal or nonverbal, written or visual manner. Verbal
communication consists of oral and written messages, where nonverbal communication consist of
facial expressions, body posture, eye contact, and or hand gestures. Non verbal communication entails
communicating by sending and receiving wordless messages. These messages usually reinforce verbal
communication, can stand alone, and convey messages on its own (Nayab, 2011). The reinforcement

On the other hand if a person is enjoying the conversation he/she will move closer to the other person
or will gently touch the other persons hand or shoulder. * Pros of non verbal communication come in
the form of self expression, such as a business woman wearing a power dress and showing confidence
in every step she takes, thus allowing her to get respect without verbally asking for it. * Cons of non
verbal communication come in the form of lacking complexity. For example a person cannot
communicate the story of a particular day to a friend without using words, unless he/she took the time
to mime every detail. The message would still not be able to be conveyed accurately, for instance the
person trying to explain cannot non verbally that he/she had a chicken salad sandwich and orange
juice for lunch. Nonverbal communication cannot communicate complex facts or concepts (Sutton,
2011). In regards to the sender of a message, this person needs to ensure the message is taken exactly
as intended. In other words if the sender wants to non verbally express a job well done by his or her
employee than the sender should offer a friendly pat on the shoulder, with a soft or confident tone.
This will express a positive non verbal communication. On the other hand if the senders tone is harsh
and the hand gestures are inappropriate the employee will take offense and not feel like he/she did a
good job. A receiver of a non verbal message can

My Writing, Reflection, And Technology In Academic Writing
When the semester began, I struggled with many of our learning outcomes. However, by completing
Project Four, I have made great advancements in my ability to read, write, reflect, and use technology
in academic writing. I have noticed that gradually my writing and comprehension have grown.
Therefore, my overall experience in English 1010 was great. Professor Jeff Pruchnic is a great teacher,
whom I learned I great deal from. I ve always struggled with rhetorical analysis essays in high school.
In his class he made the essays seem easier than I remember and now I understand each person part.
The reading objective helped me with my comprehension skills. In other words, I have developed the
skills to read a text and infer what the author s purpose and meaning of the text. In class, we did
various exercises as a class to help to try to find the main ideas of an article. We would pair off into
groups and annotate an article that Professor Pruchnic assigns to guidelines.
For example, Professor Pruchnic asked the class to annotate the article Trump Tells Pence to Leave
NFL and make our annotations with the understanding that we are going to generate a response to the
piece under review. After we complete our annotations, use the response templates in The Warrior
Writer to create an agree disagree and agree and disagree statement about arguments or sides
addressed in the article. Overall, all this practice helped me in the long run.
Writing helped me get all of my thoughts down before constructing my essays. In my years at high
school, I ve always needed to write my rough draft before typing it because I felted that this was a
better way for me to get all the details down before I lose my train of thought. But, now there are other
ways that I have met that I believe will
work just as well. One of those ways was the quotes in response exercise, which we had to choose five
quotes from an article and respond to them in full paragraphs.
This technique was an exercise that I enjoyed because I felt like it helped my essay better flow and it
made it easier to find main points to discuss. Another thing that helped my writing was the peer edits.
Most of the time their comments are helpful to me

Essay on Juvenile Death Penalty
A 16 year old boy is at the peak of their adolescent life, learning and discovering about puberty,
maturity, right and wrong and future life goals. On the other hand, a man of 25 has matured, lived long
enough to have made both good and bad judgments and has already been in the process of achieving
those life goals they once thought of as a teenager. In a given situation, is it ethical to hold these two
age groups, with mentalities that are worlds apart, to the same standards and punishments in the
justice system? Until Roper v. Simmons in 2005, the justice system did just that, treat the actions of 16
year old with the same consequences as if they had been committed by an adult. In Roper v. Simmons
the United States Supreme Court declared ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Is it then ethical to sentence a person with undeveloped reasoning and thinking skills to the death
penalty if they cannot fully comprehend the consequences of their actions? If adolescents are being
considered to have diminished reasoning and thinking skills, how then do they compare the mentally
ill? Do the same standards apply? If so, then the case of Atkins v. Virginia, in which it was declared by
the U.S. Supreme Court that the mentally handicapped would not be sentenced to the death penalty,
would be essential to the cause opposing juvenile death penalty. It is not denied that these juveniles
have committed horrendous crimes and should be held accountable for their actions, but certain
mitigating circumstances negate the need for a death penalty.
In the United Sates, the first juvenile death penalty recorded occurred in 1642 of a minor under the age
of 18 and the youngest person ever given the death penalty was ten year old James Arcene in 1885 for
robbery and murder (Strater, 1994 1995). By 1994 there were only 9 states, among which were New
Jersey, Kansas, and Maryland, that prohibited the death penalties for juveniles. In 2003 the number of
states permitting capital punishment declined to 21, a number of them allowing this punishment to
those as young as 16 (Steinberg Scott, 2003). Since the days of the first juvenile execution
approximately 362 more juveniles have been

What Is Hannah Arendt Brave
Hanna Arendt was a political philosopher and thinker whose writings and political views on a series of
radical issues and topics were not only considered controversial but also undoubtedly left an
impression in her attempt to repair a community scared by Hitler and his Nazi followers. Although her
efforts were not on a physical nature, as she obviously could not mend the wounds of all those
affected by the holocaust, but merely to right the wrong established by the Nazis by seeking justice
particularly from one man, Adolf Eichmann. Arendt, a reporter for The New Yorker, was sent to
Jerusalem to cover the trail of Eichmann. While there, Arendt tackled the issues on collective
responsibility, morals and ethics, and totalitarianism. Issues that only the brave would dare to address,
only the brave could attempt to answer.
Before any of these issues can be undertaken, a brief biography on Arendt s life would certainly be
practical. Hanna Arendt was born October 14, 1906 in Hanover, Germany in 1906 to Jewish parents.
She studied Philosophy at the University of Marburg where she met Martin Heidegger, her professor

The Use of Immorality in Order to Achieve Popular Rule Essay
Throughout The Prince and The Discourses of Livy, Niccolo Machiavelli demonstrates multiple
theories and advocacies as to why popular rule is important to the success of a state. Popular rule is a
term that will be used to define an indirect way to govern the people of a state. In order to rule the
masses, a leader must please the people or revolts will occur, causing mayhem and a lack of stability
in one’s state. During both written works, Machiavelli stresses the importance of obedience and
order needed for a state, and especially for a leader to be successful. Machiavelli thoroughly states that
anything and everything must be done to keep the peace of the masses, even if acts of immorality are
used. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the bigger picture, it is more moral to prevent disorder to a community and keep it obedient and
prosperous than to let it fall to disorder and tyranny. Therefore, the acts of immorality that a ruler does
to accomplish this are justifiable means to the more important end of securing power to maintain
order.
Machiavelli is a supporter of popular rule, though in an indirect way. Rulers must please their
constituents but not give them power. For if the people feel they have power they will rebel against
their leader and cause chaos in the state. On page 96 Machiavelli states, “it is the populace who are
responsible for innumerable conflicts and clashes in a republic. Because it is difficult to satisfy the
majority without upsetting the minority, people become enraged and protest, causing what the
government would consider to be conflicts. That is why it is so important to create a strong
government that revolves around a magistrate or council, for people fear being publicly accused of
faults, let alone as a threat to public liberty. Machiavelli states that there is no authority more
“useful and necessary for leaders of a government to employ upon their citizens. “[Citizens]
for fear of being accused, dare not attempt to do anything that might

Relationships In The Poisonwood Bible
Father daughter relationships are commonly filled with unconditional love, but an adolescent s
complete devotion can be abused by an unfit parent. In Barbara Kingsolver s The Poisonwood Bible,
the devout baptist minister Nathan Price traverses the luscious African country of the Congo along
with his wife Orleanna and their four daughters: Rachel, Leah, Adah, and Ruth May. One of the Price
girls, Leah, is introduced as having an indescribable adoration for her disparaging dad. However, as

Deciding to fulfill her newfound passion for hunting with the tribesmen, Leah decided to flat out

encounter, Leah completely loses the excessive adoration she had for Nathan. As the socially
rebellious Leah grows older, she becomes aware of the systematic dependency she willingly
subscribed to. Nevertheless, Leah s disrespect towards her father comes as a sharp contrast to the
young teen who wanted nothing more than Nathan s approval. Reflecting on the undeniable evils of
her relationship with Kilanga, and more specifically, her parents, Leah wishes she could reach
backward somehow to give Father just one gift, it would be the simple human relief of knowing you

unpalatable pain kills Leah as she is forced to live with the aftermath of the deranged Nathan mentally
abusing Leah, her mother, and her sisters, causing the grief stricken Leah to take partial blame for the
acts from which she fell victim of. In brief, Leah escapes the unbreakable grasp Nathan held on her

This is about the way consumers perceive a product or a brand. This recognition of a product or brand
is based on two different things: Learning and Perception. These two phrases mean something
completely different, but are in fact closely connected when it comes to consumer perception.

A recent poll by Vancouver based Ipsos Loyalty has found that nearly half (49%) of Canadians say
they are either strongly or somewhat influenced by brand or product recommendations made by
members of their online social network.
The findings are based on an online survey of 844 Canadians conducted in the first quarter of 2011.
Not surprisingly, the influence of social network recommendations is significantly stronger for online
Canadians 18 34 (56%) than it is for older online Canadians 55+ (40%).
The study also found that 48% of online Canadians using an online social network follow or like a
minimum of one brand. Nearly 60% of younger Canadians follow at least one brand and an average of
five, while only 30% of older Canadians follow a brand, and are likely to follow just one.
These results show that social networks influence impressions and ultimately the bottom line, said
Ipsos Loyalty vice president Dave Pierzchala in a release.
Online relationships with brands are also likely to be tenuous, with 28% of Canadians saying they
have unliked or stopped following a brand or company. Younger Canadians are particularly fickle,
with 41% having unliked a company (compared with just 15% of older Canadians). The primary
reason (55%) given for unliking : the consumer simply lost interest.

Unconventional Warfare Argumentative Analysis
Unconventional Warfare (UW) use as a strategic option is undersold due to a lack of understanding.
The lack of understanding cause further political constraints and leads to interagency bickering.
Military leaders need to do better at articulating the merits of UW as a viable and strategic option. The
lack of understanding UW stems from two parts. First, military leaders lack the understanding and
practical application. Second, the lack of understanding leads to an inability to articulate the merits of
UW to senior leaders. Special Operation Forces (SOF) need to be well versed in all UW activities.
SOF training focuses on combat or direct support to guerrilla operations using the seven phases of

Result Analysis Of Aspirin
Introduction
Aspirin is a widely name used to refer to a chemical compound known as acetylsalicylic acid. It is
commonly used as a pain killer. Salicylic acid is extracted from the bark of willow plant. In the past,
the bark willow plant was used as the remedies for tonics and headache. Currently, salicylic acid is
administered to patients in aspirin form which is less irritating to the stomach as compared to salicylic
acid. Aspirin is synthesised by reacting excess acetic anhydride with the salicylic acid. During its
synthesis a small quantity of a strong acid is used as a catalyst. Strong phosphoric acid was used as a

A Study Of Public Administration
Since Woodrow Wilson (1889) published the article, a study of public administration , the main
question in the field of public administration is how to govern a democratic and political entity. Given
public administration conventionally concerns about civil servants and agencies in the executive
branch, one among diverse and essential subfields is bureaucracy and organizational theory. In
general, the development of studies on bureaucracy and organizational theory has gone through the
period of classical theory to modern theory, and from modern theory to the advent of post modernism
and post positivism. After historically reviewing the growth of knowledge on this subfield, forces
behind the progress are the product of countless and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But with respect to the mean to this end, while the Federalist prefers centralized executive powers, the
anti Federalist go another way suggested by communitarianism.
In terms of organizational theories, there are at least two main streams at that time can be identified.
The first is managerialism, including scientific management and human relation school. Basically,
both focused on management strategies. Nevertheless, one focused on principles of management for
formal organizations, the other cares more about psychological status and informal organizations. For
scientific management, the founding father is Frederick Taylors (1912) who employed scientific
methods, like natural science, to measure working loadings and should be working times for
increasing efficiency and developing a fair payments systems. Under his guidance, Gulick (1937) and
Urwick (1945) make efforts to propose several principles of organizational operations and design. The
most famous one would be POSDCORB introduced by Gulick. On the other hand, Elton Mayor
(1930), as conducting the Hawthorne experiment, found the benign presence of researchers would
boost productivities, instead of changes in facilities in factories. Chester Barnard (1938) argued that
organizations are cooperative system maintaining the dynamic balances between the needs of the
organization and its employees. With respect to the need of employees, Maslow came up with the need

Thomas Jefferson s Ragtime
Thomas Jefferson once said, Every generation needs a new revolution. Thomas Jefferson indicates that
every generation needs a group of motivated people hoping to fix the broken pieces in soceity. E.L
Doctorow uses Thomas Jefferson s imperative thought as an occurring theme in the novel Ragtime.
E.L Doctorow does so by using three distinct revolutionaries, each with different qualities; the
youngster, Mother s Younger Brother, the significant anarchist, Emma Goldman, and the infamous
menace to society, Coalhouse Walker. Although the revolutionaries of Ragtime, Mother s Younger
Brother, Coalhouse, and Emma Goldman are ultimately killed or deported, they benefit America

Coalhouse Walker, plays his tune on the piano, Ragtime, which is like a change in society. It
represents how history changes continually and it changes like a tune in dynamics. Coalhouse is a part
of the very own tune he plays when he sets out to become a revolutionary. The actions leading to
Coalhouse s crude and violent plans were his hope to set to create fire and burn down American ideals,
to change them for the better. Coalhouse was totally valid in performing the actions that he did. He did
not intend to do them, but was forced to fire the trigger so he could give his people the rights that they
deserved. The breaking down of his car only represented a start to a revolutionary. When he meets,
Booker T. Washington, he responds with pride and respect as a revolutionary. For instance, Coalhouse
spoke softly. It is a great honor for me to meet you, sir, he said. I have always stood in admiration for
you. He looked at the marble floor. It is true that I am a musician and a man of year. But I would hope
this might suggest to you the solemn calculation of my mind. And that therefore, possibly, we might
both be servants of our color who insist on the truth of our manhood and the respect it demands. (282)
When Coalhouse expresses, both be servants of our color who insist on the truth of our manhood and
the respect it demands, Coalhouse talks to Booker T Washington and tries to show him from his sharp
words that by just standing and hoping for manhood, our people won t achieve their rights, but by
fighting and rebelling, we demand America to redefine equality. Coalhouse is deeply sliced by the
death of Sarah, and his decision for demanding equality is on the verge to his death. He questions the
fact that to save a car, Sarah sacrificed herself. He is growling inside to know, why black are faced

The Age Of Jackson s Political History
The Age of Jackson
On particular, The Age of Jackson changed America s political history because Jackson established
new precedents with the government s relations with Indians, the issue of state and federal rights and
also established a political rivalry. The Age of Jackson occurred during the time period from 1829 to
1837. During this time period, the United Stated of America was under the presidential term of
Andrew Jackson. Ever since Andrew Jackson s election, there was a complete transformation in the
political history of the United States. Before Andrew Jackson, who in which was the 7th president of
the United States, there had only been presidents that did nothing but follow imposes of George
Washington. The presidents were John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, James Monroe and
John Quincy Adams. These presidents did not involve themselves with wars that occurred in Europe,
they had no political parties, and they did nothing about the relations with the Indians. They also kept
the Bank of America that President George Washington created. In the other hand Jackson is known
for the Trail of Tears, he ended, the Bank of America and initiated a two party political system.
To initiate, one of the reasons that Jackson marked a new age in American political history is the Trial
of Tears which occurred from 1831 to 1838. This event in history was when Jackson relocated the
Indians from the east of the Mississippi River to the west. Andrew Jackson believed that it

Attitude And Death Of Ancient Greece
Attitude to Death.
Greek
Background: Ancient Greece was a civilization that existed from the 8th 6th Century BC, also called
the Archaic Period, to the end of antiquity, around 600 AD. It is most famous for its philosophers,
artwork and mythology. They worshiped their deities such as Zeus, Hades and Poseidon.... Their
major demise came at the hands of the Macedonians in 338 BC after Greece had been weakened by
the Peloponnesian War. A war between the Spartans and the Athenians leaving the Spartans victorious
but exhausted of their resources and men.
Attitude to Dying: Death for the Greeks was not such a simple process. Seeing as they believed so
firmly in the afterlife death was not really feared, rather life was cherished. As shown by this quote.
I d rather be a day laborer on earth working for a man of little property than lord of all the hosts of the
dead. Achilles in the Iliad.
Upon death the psyche or soul left the body as a little breath or puff of wind. The body would then
undergo a time honored burial ritual. The ritual was split into two parts. The prothesis, the laying out
of the body. The ekphora, the funeral procession. And the interment of the body or cremated remains
of the deceased. During this process the ancient Greeks placed coins in the deceased s mouth and tied
a strap around the head and jaw to keep it closed. These coins served as the toll for the ferry across the
river Styx. During this time, people viewed the body and placed flowers or other

in demonstrating individuality and more value to the group 2) Japanese emphasis on harmony within
the group (intra group level) and 3) Japan is a consensus group. Therefore, in the film Kamikaze girls

Original Writing Of A Long Time Dr. Pepper
For a long time Dr. Pepper has been one of my favorite soft drinks, so when a friend told me about the
new Limited Edition Cherry Chocolate Diet Dr. Pepper I knew I had to try it. However, finding it in a
store was more complicated than I had originally assumed it would be. Finally my husband was able
to find it in a 2 liter bottle and brought it home for me to try. As soon as the lid was unscrewed the
smell of chocolate was apparent. In fact the only thing I could smell was chocolate. The smell was so
strong that I found it overwhelming. Upon pouring the Cherry Chocolate Diet Dr. Pepper into a glass I
found the drink to be a very dark hue of red indicating the use of cherry flavoring. The bubbles were a
nice shade of red which gave the drink and interesting two tone effect as it was being poured. The first
drink of Cherry Chocolate Diet Dr. Pepper was nothing like I expected. I expected to taste more cherry
than chocolate but in fact it was the opposite. The chocolate taste was so prevalent that it was difficult
to notice any other flavors. The chocolate taste was reminiscent of chocolate syrup and had a very
bitter aftertaste. To be honest I didn t really detect any cherry in the taste though there were hints of
Dr. Pepper s spicy taste in the background of the drink. This attempt at a new flavor from Dr. Pepper
was not as good as I had hoped it would be. I would have thought combining three of my favorite
things; chocolate, cherries, and Dr. Pepper would have made

Summary Of President Lyndon Baines Johnson s We Shall...
In 1965, the United States of America was almost in chaos due to the Civil Rights Movement, and its
often violent responses. However, on March 15 of that year, President Lyndon Baines Johnson spoke
to the members of Congress about the importance of Civil Rights to the principles of the Constitution
and the values of this country. Johnson also briefly spoke of the bill he planned to present in the
coming week. This bill would ensure that African Americans can freely exercise their Constitutional
right to vote. The speech, called We Shall Overcome, was not only very effective with its use of ethos,
logos, and pathos, but was also very successful in its overall purpose, an argument that no American
citizen should be denied their rights due to the color of their skin. Lyndon Baines Johnson s use of
ethos, or credibility, in his speech was very simple, but still very powerful. Johnson s credibility
simply comes from the fact that, at the time of the speech, he was the President of The United States
of America. Although this seems very obvious, he reminds the audience of his power several times
throughout the speech by referring to himself as your President (5,6). He also reminds the audience of
his power by speaking about a bill that he plans to present, and three bills he has already passed, in
order to fix the issue at hand. Although Johnson does well to make sure he is seen as an authority
figure who should be listened to, he also does very well to make sure that his

Zachary Taylor Compromise Of 1850
Zachary Taylor, elected in 1849, only served sixteen months in office as president of the United States.
Zachary Taylor was a commemorated war general for his roles within the War of 1812, the Black
Hawk War, Seminole Wars, and the Mexican War. Yet, it was only after the Mexican War did he get
public recognition and received a nomination by the Whig Party for president. Taylor never officially
finished his education and never seemed to particularly care for politics. Besides his own election, he
had never voted and he did not even vote for himself. Taylor was a peculiar candidate, he had no
political experience whatsoever and to be potentially be a president shocked many. Fortunately for
him, former president Martin Van Buren caused a split of votes between himself and Lewis Cass. He
also happened to be slave owner, which appealed to many Southerners. It wasn t until he was elected
that his ideals were revealed. Due to his time with the army, he had a strong nationalist ideology as his
main goal was to preserve the unity of the Union. Taylor supported slavery, yet the idea of expanding

Stanislavsky s Invention Of Stanislavsky And The Imagination
Stanislavsky and the Imagination
Konstantin Stanislavsky, born in 1863 Russia was an actor and well known theatre practitioner whose
main principle of theatre was the development of naturalism, called the Stanislavsky method .
Being born into a wealthy family Stanislavsky had the privilege of partaking in acting from a young
age, performing in his parent s acting company, the Alekseyev Circle. During the late 19th century,
Stanislavsky travelled around the globe to learn about different rehearsal processes at the Comedie
Francaise. [1]
His influences and experiences as a youngster led him to create his own theatre company: the Moscow
Art Theatre (est. 1898). Here he designed his unique system and introduced and combined realism
within European trends at that time.
During the decades, method acting became a popularised technique in large communities as the
Moscow Theatre underwent a world tour in areas of Europe and United States. Once the tour had
ended, many of the members decided to leave and go on to create the Group Theatre, which included
actors like Lee Strasberg and Stella Adler. After this many went on to form the Actors Studio. [2]
The System
The Stanislavsky system is used to portray the naturalistic and realistic elements of life and people
within theatre. The system allowed actors to draw in their own experiences to create natural and
believable characters. There are few aspects towards the Stanislavsky system, also known as the
Method System .

Questions On Options And Options
③ Options
Options are traded both on exchanges and in the over the counter market. There are two types of
option which are call option, giving the holder the right to buy the underlying asset by a certain date
for a certain price, and put option, giving the holder the right to sell the underlying asset by a certain

Apart from that, depending on the expiration date, American options can be exercised at any time up

④ Swaps
Swaps now occupy a position of central importance in over the counter derivatives market. The
statistics produced by the Bank for International Settlements show that about 58.5% of all over the
counter derivatives are interest rate swaps and a further 4% are currency swaps. A swap is an over the
counter agreement between two parties to exchange cash flows in the future. The agreement defines
the dates when the cash flows are to be paid and the way in which they are to be calculated. Usually
the calculation of the cash flows involves the future value of an interest rate, an exchange rate, or
other market variable. The most popular (plain vanilla) interest rate swap is one where LIBOR is
exchanged for a floating rate of interest. In this swap, one party agrees to pay the other party interest at
a fixed rate on a notional principal for a number of years. In return, it receives interest at a floating
rate on the same notional principal for the same period of time. Principal amounts are not usually
exchanged in the interest rate swap.
Take another popular swap as an interpretation for hedging and speculation, which is currency swap.
In its simplest form, this involves paying interest on a principal amount in one currency and receiving
interest on a principal in another currency.

How Did Henry Viii Influence The Government Of The Tudor...
The reign of the Tudor family is prominent for many occurrences with two monarchs standing out

(also known as Henry Tudor) as he got them off to a stable and powerful start (history learning site).
He is mostly notable for ending the dynastic wars known as the Wars of the Roses and founded the
House of Tudors.
Henry VII was born in England at a time when it was divided by a civil war known as The War of the

of Plantagenet. King Edward III of England (House of Plantagenet) had many sons. John of Gaunt, his

Keeping a hummingbird feeder is a good idea, but there are other things you need to do to keep the
little birds happy and humming in your garden. Hummingbirds, unlike most other animals, do not find
their food source based on smell. Because of this, brightly colored plants and feeders are what attract
the tiny creatures to your garden. Red is the best color to attract them. Keeping a clean, full feeder
provides hummingbirds with the energy they need to keep flying around your garden and to other
stops on their feeding route. The sugar water solution, however, is not their main food source.
Hummingbirds actually get the nutrients and proteins they need for survival from soft bodied spiders
and tiny insects on the plants in your garden. Their outrageous metabolisms burn up calories so
quickly, they need the sugar and flower nectars to keep them energized so they can hunt. The
traditional sugar/water solution calls for one part sugar to four parts water. Do not boil the water to
make syrup. Just mix it in room temperature water. Some gardeners have experimented with solutions
that have a higher concentration of sugar to water. There is no research to show that high concentrated
solutions of sugar harms the hummingbirds. Their metabolism operates so much differently than most
animals. A higher concentration of solution just means they can drink less often to get the energy they
need to hunt. It

The Importance Of A Carbohydrate And Its Effect On Human Body
Introduction A carbohydrate is consumed and used in our bodies by breaking it down, and making
glucose. Glucose is a sugar that our body uses to give us energy. Carbohydrates generally provide us
with fiber, vitamins and minerals. There are two kinds of carbohydrates: simple and complex. We get
our simple carbohydrates from foods such as milk, lactose products, fruit, and sugar. Complex
carbohydrates, on the other hand, come from starches like cereal, bread, beans, potatoes, and starchy
vegetables. The benedict test is used to indicate the reducing property of sugars. All simple sugars
(glucose) are reducing sugars. They will react with a blue liquid called Benedict s solution to give a
brick red color (positive). We can use this reaction to find out if a food or other substance contains a
reducing sugar. The standard used for reducing sugar was glucose, and the control group was water.
Polysaccharides are relatively complex carbohydrates. They are polymers made up of many
monosaccharides joined together by glycoside bonds. They are therefore very large, often branched,
macromolecules. They tend to be amorphous, insoluble in water, and have no sweet taste. Starches are
glucose polymers in which glucopyranose units are bonded by alpha linkages. It is made up of a
mixture of Amylose and Amylopectin. Amylose consists of a linear chain of several hundred glucose
molecules and Amylopectin is a branched molecule made of several thousand glucose units. Glycogen

vocabulary choice is expertly combined with imagery, or the unique descriptions and sensory details,
in order to allow the reader to formulate the experiences and the surroundings of the narrator s
childhood in their imaginations. Flashback is used to allow the narrator to not only explain how she
viewed the events of her past as a child, but to compare these views with her adult feelings of the same
events. Juxtaposition aids in further explaining the connection between the setting and emotions of the
main character, creating a better picture of the narrator s life. These elements all combine to construct
a narrative that effectively conveys the coming of age theme. The first literary devices that are to be
discussed are diction and imagery. Diction is the vocabulary demonstrated by the author, and how the
objective and subjective meaning of the words and phrases the author chooses to utilize help construct
and expand the narrative. An example of diction used uniquely by the author can be seen in paragraph
twelve of Marigolds when this sentence is used: the idleness whose prospect had seemed so beautiful
during the busy days of spring now had degenerated to an almost

Thoreacic Aortic Aneurysm Research Paper
Imagine a main water pipe, one that supplies a major city and all outlying communities with their
main water supply; suddenly that pipe bursts and floods the entire area and all cities. The devastation
is felt for miles away. This is what happens when a Thoracic Aortic Aneurysm occurs in a patient. The
Cleveland Clinic states that thoracic aortic aneurysms affect more than 15,000 people in the United
States, every year. From those 15,000 only about twenty to thirty percent of patients, who made it to
the hospital, survive from the aneurysm. That is only 3000 to 4500 people; the others will usually need
some type of treatment to help them live a longer life. There are certain treatments depending on
where specifically the injury to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The most common cause is hypertension, or high blood pressure. Stress, smoking, high cholesterol,
and obesity can also lead to stress of the heart and aorta, which can lead to the aneurysm. A family
history of heart problems, high blood pressure or aneurysms may raise a patient s risk of having their
own aneurysm. Other than the health reasons above, there are also some medical disorders that can
weaken the aorta, thus increasing the chance of aneurysm. These disorders are: Marfan Syndrome (a
genetic disorder that affects the connective tissue), Ehlers Danlos syndrome (another inherited
connective tissue disorder), syphilis and

First People By David King Summary
I read First People: An Illustrated History of American Indians, written by David C. King. Native
Americans were here before I was. 18,000 13,000 BCE first humans arrive in Americas across Bering
Land Bridge. ( David C. page 15.). Native Americans started out as hunters and gathers. Men would
hunt, and the kids and women would gather, so they were always on the move. When they would get
an animal they would use everything including: the hide, the meat, and the bones. The hide was very
important to make a lot of things such as: clothes, toys, bowls, bags, tipis, saddles, and shield. They
would use the horns for utensils and a bonnet wore be the warrior society. The bones would be used as
paint brushes. They also used them to make hide scrapers. Native Americans had tomahawks, lances,
long handled clubs, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My family came from Germany on a ship. We didn t have to hunt and gather and live a nomadic
lifestyle. We had a farm and would gather the crops we had. We would still hunt but we did use all of
it. We use the meat but everything else is wasted. Our clothes are not made out of hide as much
anymore we use other things to make them now. Our toys and made out of plastic and metal instead of
hide. Our bowls and utensils are a lot different now from what Native people used. Our lifestyle has
changed so much since the time Native Americans lived. They would travel on their feet or on
horseback and now we have planes, cars, trains, ships, and many other things to get around on. It was
very dangerous for them to travel. They would have to worry about food, water, clothing, and other
things to stay alive and it would take them a long time to travel. For us now traveling is super fast we
can get around to anywhere and have the ability to go around the world whenever we want. Our
weapons now are a lot more diely now than what Native Americans had and our fights always seem to
be big and have a lot if

Sino Lotteryx Sociology
The lecturer talks about a dinosaur called Sinosauropteryx and discusses that the idea that S was a
feathered dinosaur is very strong, because the fossil included a pattern of fine lines and she indicates
that the points made by the reading are unconvincing. First, the point that the fine lines were formed
after the animal s death and were skin fibers. The lecturer casts doubt on this point, by saying that
there was evidence in other animals that shown that the skin was well preserved, even if the animal
was buried in volcanic ash. She states that even the decomposition of skin cannot be able to see in
fossils. Thus, this claim challenges the point of the reading that the lines are skin decomposed into
fibers. Second, the point that the lines

Outlaw Heroes
Nicole Panzullo

Second Draft of Paper #2
In The Thematic Paradigm , Robert Ray explains how there are two distinctly different heroes, the
outlaw hero and the official hero. The official hero embraces common values and traditional beliefs,
while the outlaw has a clear sense of right and wrong but operates above the law (Ray). Ray explains
how the role of an outlaw hero has many traits. The attractiveness of the outlaw hero s childishness
and propensity to whims, tantrums, and emotional decisions derived from America s cult of childhood
, states Ray. (309) Ray also says, To the outlaw hero s inconsistence on private standards of right and
wrong, the official hero offered the admonition, you cannot ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Ray points out that this concealing of the necessity for choice also governs the thematic paradigm in
Casablanca. The film invites the audience to identify with Rick rather than Laszlo even though official
American wartime sentiments are consistently voiced by Laszlo. Rick regularly insists upon
unmediated self interest, I stick my neck out for nobody , I m the only cause I m interested in , a
position that Ferrari explicitly identifies with a discredited American tradition: My

Cs Lewis Beliefs
C.S. Lewis once said, I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen: not only because I
see it, but because by it I see everything else. Within the quote, one can understand the Christian views
of C.S. Lewis. Many know C.S Lewis as a fantasy novelist who wrote the infamous Chronicles of
Narnia (Proquest Learning Literature). However, many don t know that his other writings reflect his
beliefs as a Christian. His vast variety of books allowed him to reach a large audience that ranges from
children to the elderly ( About C.S. Lewis ) . As an author of religious polemics and allegorical fiction,
CS Lewis is considered a brilliant and influential Christian writer of the 20th century. Clive Staples
Lewis was born in Belfast, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lewis popularity continues on into today, and many question as to why this is. However, after
understanding his character, intellect, and creativity, many will learn to understand why his popularity
endures into the modern day time. As a poet, children s writer, and a popular theologian, Lewis is able
to communicate in different areas and connect with a variety of different audiences. Lewis withheld a
rigorous and logical mind that was able to reach above and beyond in the world of imagination that he
was able to explain in a clear and lucid expression ( The Relevance of C.S. Lewis ). All of this allowed
him to effectively communicate theological truth and concepts with his incredible pictures and
analogies. His personal experiences of doubt about theism allowed him to empathise those who found
it difficult to accept Christianity. Lyle Dorsett, a Professor of Evangelism and Spiritual Formation
once said Lewis is one of the reasons I m a Christian. He s not the only reason. But his writings were
very influential. It was also very instructive for me to read his autobiographical work, Surprised by
Joy, and to see that our pilgrimages were somewhat similar. There was always a longing. But there
was a worldview that was naturalistic and materialistic, but yet being drawn into something that you
really didn t particularly want to be drawn into. I was afraid of becoming a Christian because I was
afraid I d change. And I thought I d never have fun again. But the opposite was true. He taught me a
theology of prayer. He s the one that instructed me on the basics of faith

Analysis Of Soldiers Home By Ernest Hemingway
Soldiers Home It s a funny thing coming home. Nothing changes. Everything looks the same, feels the
same, even smells the same. You realize what s changed is you. F. Scott Fitzgerald The devastating
imagery soldiers witness in everyday life is stuck with them, and those memories eventually come to
the surface. There s nothing half as appreciable as coming home again. The short story presents the
homecoming of an outcasted soldier following the war. Krebs, Hemingway s main character,
experiences frequent lonely sensations as he concludes that he, and the young girls that had grown up
were the only things that had changed in the town of Oklahoma when returning. The noticeable
difference between the members of armed forces returning from overseas duty and those who
remained home creates an immense conflict in the story. That is, as it lies, the fraud that is demanded
for survival. In Soldier s Home , Ernest Hemingway, the author develops a distaste for everything that
had happened to Krebs in the war; which may well be a deliberation of, though not restricted to, the
livelihood being taken from soldiers today, coming home from war. Hemingway reveals the short
story through a narrator s voice. The narrator is not necessarily a bystander, as he recognizes, for the
most part, that the war stripped the soul from Krebs. It is made clear that Hemingway understands
more than what can be physically observed about Krebs, as his feelings are thoroughly detailed
throughout.

Analysis of the Play Candide Essay In Act One of Candide, there is four scenes, the first scene is entitled Westphalia, when the scene is first introduced the music has a happy sound, similar to that of circus music and as the introduction goes on the music goes from an allegro tempo to a peaceful and dream like piano sound and grave tempo. As the music continues to come in the lights continue to brighten on stage as well as if the music and lights are tied together. As the cast came out they performed the opening song during this song they harmonized really well. During one of the songs of Scene Four: Paris the Old Lady, Cunegonde and Candide were discussing a flight and the music being played by the orchestra matched the lyrics bringing the idea of a flight to life. The Old Lady has a mezzo soprano voice she executes all of her notes well in the song. At the end of scene three Candide, Cunegonde, and the Old Lady leave to go to a new place and in the song they sing there are rounds, which were well executed. It helped change the mood again which brightened up the audience. In Act Two, Scene One: Buenos Aires, the music has a fast tempo and the music is being played at a forte level, as the music continues it suddenly softens to piano and the tempo slows down. • 8. INTRODUCTION A scholarly work that has received widespread attention and recognition in the Strategic Management area and beyond is Porter s (1980, 1985) typology of generic competitive strategies: Cost leadership, differentiation, and focus. These three actually fall into two basic categories. The focus strategy calls for concentration on a niche or a narrow segment. But Porter says that success in this strategy can be achieved either via cost leadership or differentiation. Thus, cost leadership and differentiation are the two basic strategies in Porter s typology. These two then are the subject of discussion in this paper. This contribution of Porter (1980, 1985) has had a deep and pervasive influence on business theory and practice. Since then many strategists from diverse fields have examined or made reference to his work. Most of this voluminous literature appeared during the eighties and the nineties. The purpose of this paper is to offer a critique of Porter s work, and a synthesis of this literature. Thompson and Strickland (2008, chap. 5) have expanded Porter s generic strategies from three to five: overall low cost provider strategy, broad differentiation strategy, best cost provider ... Number one there is the information that is collected by criminal justice agencies, and this data contains crimes that are reported by the public or offences that come to the attention of the authorities in other ways. There are three types of radiation, alpha, beta and gamma. Alpha is the weakest, gamma is the strongest (can pass through almost anything) Dangerous radiation Alpha radiation can be highly dangerous when ingested whereas gamma radiation can inflict damage externally with its ability to pass through almost any surface. Inhaling alpha radiation can cause lung cancer. The most common way of inhaling alpha radiation is through tobacco smoke. If water becomes contaminated by alpha radiation, if consumed, can cause kidney and chromosol damage. Gamma radiation can cause radiation poising. Side effects of this could be nausea, vomiting, bleeding, mouth sores, nausea, diarrhea and loss of hair. For example a person cannot communicate the story of a particular day to a friend without using words, unless he/she took the time to mime every detail. The message would still not be able to be conveyed accurately, for instance the person trying to explain cannot non verbally that he/she had a chicken salad sandwich and orange juice for lunch. • 14. My Writing, Reflection, And Technology In Academic Writing When the semester began, I struggled with many of our learning outcomes. However, by completing Project Four, I have made great advancements in my ability to read, write, reflect, and use technology in academic writing. I have noticed that gradually my writing and comprehension have grown. Therefore, my overall experience in English 1010 was great. Professor Jeff Pruchnic is a great teacher, whom I learned I great deal from. I ve always struggled with rhetorical analysis essays in high school. In his class he made the essays seem easier than I remember and now I understand each person part. The reading objective helped me with my comprehension skills. In other words, I have developed the skills to read a text and infer what the author s purpose and meaning of the text. In class, we did various exercises as a class to help to try to find the main ideas of an article. We would pair off into groups and annotate an article that Professor Pruchnic assigns to guidelines. For example, Professor Pruchnic asked the class to annotate the article Trump Tells Pence to Leave NFL and make our annotations with the understanding that we are going to generate a response to the piece under review. After we complete our annotations, use the response templates in The Warrior Writer to create an agree disagree and agree and disagree statement about arguments or sides addressed in the article. Overall, all this practice helped me in the long run. Writing helped me get all of my thoughts down before constructing my essays. In my years at high school, I ve always needed to write my rough draft before typing it because I felted that this was a better way for me to get all the details down before I lose my train of thought. But, now there are other ways that I have met that I believe will work just as well. One of those ways was the quotes in response exercise, which we had to choose five quotes from an article and respond to them in full paragraphs. This technique was an exercise that I enjoyed because I felt like it helped my essay better flow and it made it easier to find main points to discuss. Another thing that helped my writing was the peer edits. Most of the time their comments are helpful to me ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

On the other hand, a man of 25 has matured, lived long enough to have made both good and bad judgments and has already been in the process of achieving those life goals they once thought of as a teenager. In a given situation, is it ethical to hold these two age groups, with mentalities that are worlds apart, to the same standards and punishments in the justice system? Until Roper v. Is it then ethical to sentence a person with undeveloped reasoning and thinking skills to the death penalty if they cannot fully comprehend the consequences of their actions? If adolescents are being considered to have diminished reasoning and thinking skills, how then do they compare the mentally ill? Do the same standards apply? If so, then the case of Atkins v. Virginia, in which it was declared by the U.S. Supreme Court that the mentally handicapped would not be sentenced to the death penalty, would be essential to the cause opposing juvenile death penalty. It is not denied that these juveniles have committed horrendous crimes and should be held accountable for their actions, but certain mitigating circumstances negate the need for a death penalty. In the United Sates, the first juvenile death penalty recorded occurred in 1642 of a minor under the age of 18 and the youngest person ever given the death penalty was ten year old James Arcene in 1885 for robbery and murder (Strater, 1994 1995). By 1994 there were only 9 states, among which were New Jersey, Kansas, and Maryland, that prohibited the death penalties for juveniles. In 2003 the number of states permitting capital punishment declined to 21, a number of them allowing this punishment to those as young as 16 (Steinberg Scott, 2003). The Use of Immorality in Order to Achieve Popular Rule Essay Throughout The Prince and The Discourses of Livy, Niccolo Machiavelli demonstrates multiple theories and advocacies as to why popular rule is important to the success of a state. Popular rule is a term that will be used to define an indirect way to govern the people of a state. In order to rule the masses, a leader must please the people or revolts will occur, causing mayhem and a lack of stability in one’s state. Therefore, the acts of immorality that a ruler does to accomplish this are justifiable means to the more important end of securing power to maintain order. Machiavelli is a supporter of popular rule, though in an indirect way. Rulers must please their constituents but not give them power. For if the people feel they have power they will rebel against their leader and cause chaos in the state. On page 96 Machiavelli states, “it is the populace who are responsible for innumerable conflicts and clashes in a republic.â€? Because it is difficult to satisfy the majority without upsetting the minority, people become enraged and protest, causing what the government would consider to be conflicts. • 24. Result Analysis Of Aspirin Introduction Aspirin is a widely name used to refer to a chemical compound known as acetylsalicylic acid. It is commonly used as a pain killer. Currently, salicylic acid is administered to patients in aspirin form which is less irritating to the stomach as compared to salicylic acid. Aspirin is synthesised by reacting excess acetic anhydride with the salicylic acid. During its synthesis a small quantity of a strong acid is used as a catalyst. Their major demise came at the hands of the Macedonians in 338 BC after Greece had been weakened by the Peloponnesian War. However, on March 15 of that year, President Lyndon Baines Johnson spoke to the members of Congress about the importance of Civil Rights to the principles of the Constitution and the values of this country. Johnson also briefly spoke of the bill he planned to present in the coming week. This bill would ensure that African Americans can freely exercise their Constitutional right to vote. The speech, called We Shall Overcome, was not only very effective with its use of ethos, logos, and pathos, but was also very successful in its overall purpose, an argument that no American citizen should be denied their rights due to the color of their skin. Lyndon Baines Johnson s use of ethos, or credibility, in his speech was very simple, but still very powerful. Johnson s credibility simply comes from the fact that, at the time of the speech, he was the President of The United States of America. Although this seems very obvious, he reminds the audience of his power several times throughout the speech by referring to himself as your President (5,6). He also reminds the audience of his power by speaking about a bill that he plans to present, and three bills he has already passed, in order to fix the issue at hand. Hummingbirds, unlike most other animals, do not find their food source based on smell. Because of this, brightly colored plants and feeders are what attract the tiny creatures to your garden. Red is the best color to attract them. Keeping a clean, full feeder provides hummingbirds with the energy they need to keep flying around your garden and to other stops on their feeding route. The sugar water solution, however, is not their main food source. • 45. The Importance Of A Carbohydrate And Its Effect On Human Body Introduction A carbohydrate is consumed and used in our bodies by breaking it down, and making glucose. Glucose is a sugar that our body uses to give us energy. Carbohydrates generally provide us with fiber, vitamins and minerals. There are two kinds of carbohydrates: simple and complex. We get our simple carbohydrates from foods such as milk, lactose products, fruit, and sugar. Complex carbohydrates, on the other hand, come from starches like cereal, bread, beans, potatoes, and starchy vegetables. The benedict test is used to indicate the reducing property of sugars. All simple sugars (glucose) are reducing sugars. They will react with a blue liquid called Benedict s solution to give a brick red color (positive). We can use this reaction to find out if a food or other substance contains a reducing sugar. The standard used for reducing sugar was glucose, and the control group was water. Polysaccharides are relatively complex carbohydrates. They are polymers made up of many monosaccharides joined together by glycoside bonds. They are therefore very large, often branched, macromolecules. They tend to be amorphous, insoluble in water, and have no sweet taste. Starches are glucose polymers in which glucopyranose units are bonded by alpha linkages. It is made up of a mixture of Amylose and Amylopectin. Amylose consists of a linear chain of several hundred glucose molecules and Amylopectin is a branched molecule made of several thousand glucose units. Glycogen is a ... • 46. Literary Devices In Marigolds By Eugenia Collier Eugenia Collier, the author of the short story Marigolds makes great use of literary devices such as imagery, diction, flashback, and juxtaposition in a way that creates a voice for the narrator that conveys both the regret over, and possibly the longing for her childhood. The diction, that is, the vocabulary choice is expertly combined with imagery, or the unique descriptions and sensory details, in order to allow the reader to formulate the experiences and the surroundings of the narrator s childhood in their imaginations. Flashback is used to allow the narrator to not only explain how she viewed the events of her past as a child, but to compare these views with her adult feelings of the same events. Juxtaposition aids in further explaining the connection between the setting and emotions of the main character, creating a better picture of the narrator s life. These elements all combine to construct a narrative that effectively conveys the coming of age theme. The first literary devices that are to be discussed are diction and imagery. Diction is the vocabulary demonstrated by the author, and how the objective and subjective meaning of the words and phrases the author chooses to utilize help construct and expand the narrative. An example of diction used uniquely by the author can be seen in paragraph twelve of Marigolds when this sentence is used: the idleness whose prospect had seemed so beautiful during the busy days of spring now had degenerated to an almost ... Thoreacic Aortic Aneurysm Research Paper Imagine a main water pipe, one that supplies a major city and all outlying communities with their main water supply; suddenly that pipe bursts and floods the entire area and all cities. The devastation is felt for miles away. This is what happens when a Thoracic Aortic Aneurysm occurs in a patient. The Cleveland Clinic states that thoracic aortic aneurysms affect more than 15,000 people in the United States, every year. From those 15,000 only about twenty to thirty percent of patients, who made it to the hospital, survive from the aneurysm. Native Americans were here before I was. 18,000 13,000 BCE first humans arrive in Americas across Bering Land Bridge. ( David C. page 15.). Native Americans started out as hunters and gathers. Men would hunt, and the kids and women would gather, so they were always on the move. When they would get an animal they would use everything including: the hide, the meat, and the bones. The hide was very important to make a lot of things such as: clothes, toys, bowls, bags, tipis, saddles, and shield. They would use the horns for utensils and a bonnet wore be the warrior society. The bones would be used as paint brushes. They also used them to make hide scrapers. Native Americans had tomahawks, lances, long handled clubs, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... My family came from Germany on a ship. We didn t have to hunt and gather and live a nomadic lifestyle. We had a farm and would gather the crops we had. We would still hunt but we did use all of it. We use the meat but everything else is wasted. Our clothes are not made out of hide as much anymore we use other things to make them now. Our toys and made out of plastic and metal instead of hide. Our bowls and utensils are a lot different now from what Native people used. Our lifestyle has changed so much since the time Native Americans lived. They would travel on their feet or on horseback and now we have planes, cars, trains, ships, and many other things to get around on. It was very dangerous for them to travel. They would have to worry about food, water, clothing, and other things to stay alive and it would take them a long time to travel. For us now traveling is super fast we can get around to anywhere and have the ability to go around the world whenever we want. Sino Lotteryx Sociology The lecturer talks about a dinosaur called Sinosauropteryx and discusses that the idea that S was a feathered dinosaur is very strong, because the fossil included a pattern of fine lines and she indicates that the points made by the reading are unconvincing. First, the point that the fine lines were formed after the animal s death and were skin fibers. The lecturer casts doubt on this point, by saying that there was evidence in other animals that shown that the skin was well preserved, even if the animal was buried in volcanic ash. She states that even the decomposition of skin cannot be able to see in fossils. Thus, this claim challenges the point of the reading that the lines are skin decomposed into fibers. Ray explains how the role of an outlaw hero has many traits. The attractiveness of the outlaw hero s childishness and propensity to whims, tantrums, and emotional decisions derived from America s cult of childhood , states Ray. However, after understanding his character, intellect, and creativity, many will learn to understand why his popularity endures into the modern day time. As a poet, children s writer, and a popular theologian, Lewis is able to communicate in different areas and connect with a variety of different audiences. Lewis withheld a rigorous and logical mind that was able to reach above and beyond in the world of imagination that he was able to explain in a clear and lucid expression ( The Relevance of C.S. Lewis ). All of this allowed him to effectively communicate theological truth and concepts with his incredible pictures and analogies. His personal experiences of doubt about theism allowed him to empathise those who found it difficult to accept Christianity. Lyle Dorsett, a Professor of Evangelism and Spiritual Formation once said Lewis is one of the reasons I m a Christian. He s not the only reason. But his writings were very influential. It was also very instructive for me to read his autobiographical work, Surprised by Joy, and to see that our pilgrimages were somewhat similar. There was always a longing. But there was a worldview that was naturalistic and materialistic, but yet being drawn into something that you really didn t particularly want to be drawn into. • 53. Analysis Of Soldiers Home By Ernest Hemingway Soldiers Home It s a funny thing coming home. Nothing changes. Everything looks the same, feels the same, even smells the same. You realize what s changed is you. F. Scott Fitzgerald The devastating imagery soldiers witness in everyday life is stuck with them, and those memories eventually come to the surface. There s nothing half as appreciable as coming home again. The short story presents the homecoming of an outcasted soldier following the war. Krebs, Hemingway s main character, experiences frequent lonely sensations as he concludes that he, and the young girls that had grown up were the only things that had changed in the town of Oklahoma when returning. The noticeable difference between the members of armed forces returning from overseas duty and those who remained home creates an immense conflict in the story. That is, as it lies, the fraud that is demanded for survival. In Soldier s Home , Ernest Hemingway, the author develops a distaste for everything that had happened to Krebs in the war; which may well be a deliberation of, though not restricted to, the livelihood being taken from soldiers today, coming home from war. Hemingway reveals the short story through a narrator s voice. The narrator is not necessarily a bystander, as he recognizes, for the most part, that the war stripped the soul from Krebs. It is made clear that Hemingway understands more than what can be physically observed about Krebs, as his feelings are thoroughly detailed throughout. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
