Who Is Elizabeth Bennet In Pride And Prejudice
Somebody Wanted But So Paper Elizabeth Bennet, the main character in Pride and Prejudice, can be
illustrated as witty, clever, and outspoken. Along with these traits, Elizabeth also suffered from being
very judgmental, unforgiving, and overly confident. She was described as being the second most
beautiful Bennet daughter, with brown, knowledgeable eyes, and a light and pleasing figure. Her
family consisted of seven members, Mr. and Mrs. Bennet, Jane, Mary, Lydia, and Kitty (also known as
Catherine). Elizabeth s family lives on a estate named Longborn, that is supported by roughly £2000
annually. The entire family can be ranked as gentlefolk, which categorized them as middle class to
upper class. Because social connections was a huge determining factor in rank, the Bennet daughters
were pressured to marry wealthy, from society, and also from Mrs. Bennet. With Jane outshining
Elizabeth as far as looks, Elizabeth is prized as the most intelligent out of the family, making her a
favorite of her father. Mrs. Bennet on the other hand, favorited Jane because of her looks, and Lydia
for her eagerness for marriage. It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession

Darcy shared his letter, and also when Mr. Darcy saved her sister from ruining the family. When
Elizabeth was at Pemberley with Mr. Darcy, she observed Mr. Darcy acting completely civil towards
her and her aunt and uncle, even after she rejected his marriage proposal. This was the moment that
Elizabeth started to consider her initial judgement of Mr. Darcy s character to be wrong. With the
letter, his civility at Pemberley, and the saving of her sister, pointing towards Mr. Darcy s true
character, Elizabeth finally realized that her pride and prejudice was blinding her from her love of Mr.
Darcy. When Mr. Darcy returned to Longbourn, Elizabeth had changed her original opinion of him,
and was willing to be Mrs.

How Did Icarus Change Ovid s Life
The story of Daedalus and Icarus, reflected Ovid s changing thoughts and morals of his personal life
as he undergoes the life changing event of getting exiled by Emperor Augustus, through the characters
of the poem. Ovid is born an Icarus, innocent and naive, with no idea of how much danger awaits him
if he chooses to forsake his guide and soar in the boundless sky . Ovid s father planned for him to
become a political official, sending him to Rome to get an education, and then Athens. Ovid s anxious
father planned his future, as Daedalus planned Icarus s, in order to make sure their sons had
prosperous steady lives. (Ovid) At first both sons were cooperative; but then emboldened by their
success they started taking risks./ Icarus soared ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Perdix, after being murdered by Daedalus, was turned into the Partridge. The Partridge hides in
shaded places by the leafy trees its nested eggs among the bush s twigs; , writes Ovid himself in
Daedalus and Icarus, nor does it seek to rise in lofty flight, for it is mindful of its former fall. The
Partridge keeps in the bushes, not all the way under the ground in poverty, as Ovid s father thought he
would be, but also not high in the sky, bold and arrogant enough at the success of his career, which
causes him to take risks. The Partridge enjoys a steady life, living the middle way. After Ovid s poem
and a mistake , which he told his readers himself was the reason that he was exiled, he lived a
relatively average life. He was miserable enough at first in his prison, but not because he lived in
poverty, the bottom ground. He lived a relatively comfortable life, treated extremely well by
inhabitants of Tomis, and as stated by Kenney, there are hints in the later poems that Ovid was even
becoming reconciled to his fate when death released him. Ovid continued to write the poetry he so
dearly loved, but they never reached the grand heights of his earlier successes. They attracted less
attention, and made no bold statements anyone might find offensive. The once brilliant genius, Perdix,
who had surpassed even Daedalus himself, had learned

Essay On Transnationalism In America
Identity is the concept of what we believe in, where we grew up, what we look like, and our choices
we make in life. We evolve overtime and occasionally we have no control of it. Central Americans
migrate to America to have a better life but unfortunately, society alters their individuality. Identity
forms solely on religion, language, and society. Transnationalism can affect Central Americans in
many ways shaping their identity and who they are. In Alla en Guatemala , a young Pentecostal

language and culture. ...participant observation field notes in Amalia s home, her Pentecostal church

These circumstances have impacted their ethnic identity and the children on Maya in a massive way.
Many children have tried to preserve their cultures and background but some also have erased it and
adopted the Latino community. Adults have also learned to speak Mexican Spanish in order to indicate
a Mexican rather than a Central American distinctiveness. ...it may be easier for them to blend in with
Mexicans rather than to draw attention to their linguistic and cultural differences, thereby avoiding
discrimination (Ek 74). Transnationalism also shapes Central Americans by their language. For the
Mayan children, language was a huge part of their identity. Being influenced by Mexican Spanish and
English made them less knowledgeable of their own Mayan language. ...intergenerational conflict is
exacerbated with language since many immigrant children learn to speak English at school and

Discipleship Essay
Discipleship
According to the Oxford English Dictionary, a Disciple is one who takes another as his teacher and
model. Christian Disciples have faith and commitment to God, they use their own time to give service
others; they sacrifice their home life possessions and money. Christian Disciples preach to others
about the Good Doings of Jesus and the excellence of God. Christian Disciples resist other
temptations. They produce self control, orderliness, obedience and a capacity for co operation with
others. Anybody can be a disciple; for example a Portadown College student is a disciple of the
school. To be a Christian disciple however, takes a different kind of self discipline. The word ... Show

This means that like salt we should purify, preserve and flavour other people s lives. We should also
be like light in that we are visible Christianity is something that should be seen we should be a guide
like a light and also a warning. A true disciple follows the commandments presented by Jesus on
Mount Sinai. These 10 commandments are often referred to as the law and they are a basis as to how
we should live our lives.
As a disciple, you should also be forgiving. If someone sins against you, you should not only forgive
him seven times as Peter thought; but seventy times seven as Jesus tells us. This means there is no
limit as to how many times we should forgive someone. Jesus used the parable of the unforgiving
servant to demonstrate this. He tells of a king who was owed a great sum of money by one of his
servants. The king let the servant off with this though. A man owed the servant a small amount of
money and he still asked for it. The king found out about this and re instated his debt. The servant
should have shown the same forgiveness that he was shown.
Jesus used another story to indicate how we should lead our lives. He told of two house builders; one
who built his house on a rock and one on sand. Jesus explained that anyone who hears the words and
acts on them was like the wise man that built his

Police Brutality In Coates s Between The World And Me
Police brutality has become more of a worry within the past two decades. Riots are becoming more
frequent. Fatal shootings are becoming common. Police officers are not held accountable for the
killings they have committed and will continue to commit. Several people believe in the use of
excessive force, otherwise known as police brutality, to claim territories and correct others. Therefore,
it is important to analyze the different views of this aspect.
New York Times bestseller Between the World and Me written by Ta Nehisi Coates compares
historical racism to racism in America today. Coates originally wrote this book for his son, Samori, so
he could explain the trials and tribulations he would have to face as he grows up. Coates argues that ...

Unlike Coate s, the Editorial Board believes police brutality is brought into the light because of
politicians. Although they may try to hide it, it brings more attention to it. Coate s main belief is police
brutality is recognized because of incidents being known through the news or through papers. The
Editorial Board focuses on the discrimination and injustice brought about by politicians. They are
saying politicians turn a blind eye towards police brutality to make the people of the public feel safe.
Written by Robert Staples the article White Power, Black Crime, and Racial Politics begins by
explaining the arrest of Henry Louis Gates Jr., a Harvard professor, who was arrested because he was
attempting to get into his own house. Staples continues by explaining the history of police brutality in
the United States. He discusses the political movement reflected in the media arguing that African
Americans pose a threat to other races. Racial profiling and police brutality are also mentioned in this
article. The realization of racism and police brutality are clarified extremely well in this

Uniform Commercial Code 2b the
A new law will probably be introduced into state legislatures which will govern all contracts for the
development, sale, licensing, and support of computer software. This law, which has been in
development for about ten years, will be an amendment to the Uniform Commercial Code. The
amendment is called Article 2B (Law of Licensing) and is loosely based on UCC Article 2 (Law of
Sales), which governs sales of goods in all 50 states. A joint committee of the National Conference of
Commissioners on Uniform State Laws (NCCUSL) and the American Law Institute is drafting the
changes to the UCC. The UCC was drafted in the 1950 #8217;s and currently governs the sales of
goods but not products like software, which are licensed, not sold. ... Show more content on

Article 2B says that the publisher doesn #8217;t have to show software customers the terms until after
the sale, when it #8217;s too late to do comparison shopping. By then, the consumer has already
started installing the software. The customer is deemed to have accepted the terms of the contract if
he/she uses the product instead of returning it. All of the terms of the agreement are now fully
enforceable as if the consumer had reviewed, discussed, and signed a paper contract before the sale.
Many of the shrink wrap software licenses say that once you break the seal and use the software, you
#8217;re releasing the vendor from all warranties. Basically, the software has been sold #8220;as is
#8221; and you #8217;ve given up your legal recourse if it doesn #8217;t perform as claimed,
damages your computer, or has bugs that lead to errors. Under the Magnuson Moss Warranty
Improvement Act customers are entitled to see the warranty of any goods sold for $15 or more. It is
not unreasonable to assume that software purchased for home usage would be covered by the Act. But
software customers rarely get to see the warranties provided with software until after the sale. Article
2B characterizes mass market software sales as licenses, which may not be covered by the Magnuson
Moss Act. Products normally come with an implied warranty of merchantability, which states that the
product will be fit for ordinary use, it will

Essay about Racial Discrimination in the U.S. Justice System
Racial Discrimination in the U.S. Justice System Introduction In modern day America the issue of
racial discrimination in the criminal justice system is controversial because there is substantial
evidence confirming both individual and systemic biases. While there is reason to believe that there
are discriminatory elements at every step of the judicial process, this treatment will investigate and
attempt to elucidate such elements in two of the most critical judicial junctures, criminal apprehension
and prosecution. Criminal Apprehension Statistical accounts show consistent accord in that African
Americans are disproportionately arrested over whites. What is much less lucid, however, is the real
reason for this disparity. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While both sides of this deeply entrenched controversy substantiate meaningful claims, neither of their
arguments is exhaustive, although Walker, Spohn, and DeLone s case is much more convincing.
African American arrest statistics are best understood as the convergence of both a somewhat higher
incidence of crime as well as racial discrimination in the criminal justice system. Although higher
incidence of crime may initially appear to justify higher arrest rates, there is significant evidence
demonstrating that not only is African American crime exaggerated by a racially discriminatory
criminal justice system (one of the products of which is disparate arrest rates), the greater crime rates
in and of themselves are a result of economic inequality. In order to understand the nature of the
statistical disparity, the first aspect that must be examined is necessarily the statistics themselves.
Recent data (1998) shows that more than two out of every three arrested persons are white (67.6%)
and that African Americans account for only 30% of all arrests. More striking is the data adjusted per
capita: African Americans are two and a half times as likely to be arrested as whites, and are even
more over represented in violent crimes, for which they are over three times as likely to be arrested.
African Americans are five times as likely to be arrested in cases of robbery or murder (Walker et al.,
39). There is

Key Events in the Reformation
Thesis Statement: These key events reforming religion are what shaped the world for good and for bad
in the 14th to the 19th century. The Reformation was full of war and inventions that many had never
seen before, affecting the religious and social political systems in positive and negative ways. The first
event in the Reformation was the Printing Press. The Printing Press enabled the circulation of the
bible, starting the spread of Christianity and the Catholics. The Printing Press was created by Johannes
Gutenberg in 1450. Before the Printing Press the bible had to be printed by hand, which meant that the
copies had to be written word for word. Because they had to be written word for word only the
important people had them such as Popes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There were wars during this Reformation in the 16th and 17th century that took place in many parts of
Europe. The first wars took place in central and southern Europe, between the Christians and the
Muslims. The Christians and the Muslims had been fighting each other ever since the Crusades from
the 11th to the 13th century; also in the Spanish Reconquista from the 8th to the 15th century; and the
Ottoman Wars in Europe from the 15th to 19th century. The wars that were the longest lasting were
the wars between the Protestant and the Catholics. These wars were some of the bloodiest wars in the
European wars of religion. The war between the Protestants and Catholics is called the 30 Year s War
which was the longest in the war of religions. The Counter Reformation came better late than never as
they were much needed. The Council of Trent had a major role in the counter. The Council of Trent
fought for the Reformers in every way possible. The Council of Trent believed in the areas of
tradition, original sin, justification, sacraments, the holy masses, and the veneration (honoring) of
saints. The Council of Trent and the Catholics fought to become more spiritual, educated, and literate.
The reformation was a long and bloody time. There are many ways to look at this time period. Some

Charter Schools Vs. School Schools
To quote Jonathan Stith, Where you see the charters providing an avenue of escape for some, it hasn t
been for the majority, (Zernike 4). In some cities charter schools are educating more that half the
students in some American cities (Zernike 1). These charter schools make promises to parents and
students that are hard to pass up in many cities, where public education is lacking and private
education is out of reach for many. Charter schools exist all across America, in forty two states and
Washington D.C.(Oliver). These charter schools promise choice, opportunities for better and safer
education, as well as strive to to close the achievement gap occurring in schools across America.
(Oliver). The question is: are charter schools living up to this promise? I believe that many charter
schools are failing to follow through on these promises and, that changes should be made in order to
provide a more genuine source of educational opportunity to students across America. The first
promise of charter schools I would like to focus on is that on choice. While charter schools offer a lot
of choice there is still no good choice (K Zernike 1.) Charter schools typically pop up most frequently
in urban areas often where they are unneeded. Charter schools will set up wherever space is available,
sometimes within blocks from each other according to Kate Zernike, making it easier to find a charter
school than to buy a carton of milk, (K Zernike 1). A good example of this is in

Haier Case Study
Haier Case Study
1. Discuss the primary reasons why Haier moves from a single and dominant business strategy to a
diversified strategy.
The single and dominant business strategy, which denote relatively low levels of diversification, more
fully diversified firms are classified into related and unrelated categories. A firm is related through its
diversification when there are several links between its business units; for example, units may share
products or services, technologies, or distribution channels. The more links among businesses, the
more constrained is the relatedness of diversification. Unrelateness refers to the absence of direct links
between businesses.

5) Another example of creating value by using a related diversification strategy was when Haier
applied innovation to product design and production from the Liebherr Corporation of Germany. This
strategic move created value by not only competing and expanding its product categories, but also by
creating market needs. (pg. 7) The activity sharing and market need helped create product
breakthroughs like washing machines that operated without detergent or water, and refrigerators that
needed no compressors. (pg. 8) Another example of creating value was when Haier entered a strategic
business alliance with Sanyo. Sanyo wanted to increase its competiveness in China taking advantage
of Haier s extensive distribution network, whereas Haier hoped to enter the Jampanese market by
utilizing Sanyo s distribution and service centres s. (pg. 12) In the end Zhang Ruimin utilized this
diversification strategy in an attempt to gain market power. B.Also discuss how Haier can use
unrelated diversification strategy to create value.
Zhang Ruimin recognized that pursuing strictly a related diversification strategy might make Haier
susceptible to failure. He states, This is a globalised era..., no single industry can survive. (pg. 13) By
the end of 2006, Haier s product portfolio had extended to include products ranging from washing
machines to mobile phones as well as pharmaceuticals and tourism. This wide range use of

Opposing Viewpoints on The Lord´s Supper of Luther and...
The ceremony of the Lord s Supper at Marburg in 1529 triggered numerous heartless debates amongst
two protagonists Luther and Zwingli. Throughout the Reformation era, debates played an important
role, as they were a main mechanism in familiarizing the Reformation into countless towns. Debates
were a means of resolving differences amongst like minded Protestant groups. Landgrave Philip of
Hesse had summoned the Hessian Chancellor Feige to send for both Luther and Zwingli for the
express and urgent purpose of settling their dispute over the Lord s Supper. Therefore, the purpose of
this debate was to solve the dispute over how Luther and Zwingli saw the sacrament of the Lord s

433). The opinions of Luther and Zwingli were neither new nor sacrilegious, but were based on belief
and the Scripture.
After Oecolampadius spoke, Zwingli said the Lord s Supper must be symbolic. It is ever apparent and
even required by the article of faith: taken up into heaven, seated at the right hand of the Father (p.
433). It is ridiculous to search for him in the Lord s Supper the identical time in which Christ is telling
individuals that he is located in heaven. One and the identical body cannot be in dissimilar locations.
Zwingli stated they call upon Luther to provide glory to God as well as to stop begging the query.
Zwingli questioned the proof of Luther s position as Zwingli willingly contemplates the words Luther
says extremely carefully. He knew Luther was trying to outwit him. At this point Zwingli stands by the
sixth chapter of John, verse 63, and says that he will not be shaken from it.
Due to the excerpt from the vivacious and often brutal debate between Zwingli and Luther, I believe
that the Reformation debates led to further hostility rather than compromise and unity between
religious and sectarian opponents. I mainly believe that due to this debate being frequently brutal.
There was only one major implication that this caused for the future of the Protestant Reformation.
That one major implication was that debates continued to be brutal and

Persuasive Essay On Dunkning
We have investigated the slam dunk from its humble origins predating even the Big Bang to its present
day status as one of sports most exciting feats. Every iota of knowledge on the subject of dunking has
been presented. There truly is no more to say about dunks as we know them or as they were known to
inhabitants of previous eras. Thus, dear reader, we must look beyond the present time, into the
uncertain haze of the future, to hypothesize on what dunks will look like ten, twenty, a hundred, a
thousand years from now.
The maximum level of human athleticism is constantly rising due to improvements in nutrition
science and training regimens. Elite athletes twenty years from now will doubtlessly be capable of
more than the elite athletes of today. We will have faster runners, higher jumpers, and stronger lifters.

Ten decades of athletic improvements will have yielded the ability to dunk on a fourteen foot rim, but
dunking is still rare enough among the general populace that basketball rims will remain at their
customary ten feet. However, robotic implants in human limbs have augmented humanity s collective
athleticism and propelled it to new heights. Relying on the natural actions of our muscles, these
implants amplify what our bodies already do. Neither the high school game nor the professional game

independently run amateur leagues featuring players so implanted begin to gain large followings. The
rims in these games are set at fifteen feet, and there is very little jumpshooting; most plays involve a
series of in air alley oop passes attempting to get a player open for a dunk. Astute readers will note
that this new dunkball is the spiritual successor to the unheralded and forgotten slamball , which was

Nonmaleficence In Counseling
How do you think you can best utilize yourself as a tool for counseling? From a professional
viewpoint, there is an innumerable amount of resources and tools that can support me in my
counseling sessions. Just to name couple resources, Barbara Herlihy and Gerald Corey (2015)
preamble suggested that counselors should aim to enhance the human development throughout the
lifespan. Also, the therapist should honor diversity and embrace a multicultural approach in support of
the worth, dignity, potential, and uniqueness of people within their social and cultural contexts.
Herlihy Corey (20015) propounded promoting social justice, safeguarding the integrity of the
counselor client relationship, and practicing competently and ethically. Furthermore, Herilhy Corey
(2015) suggested that therapists and counselors should govern client relationship on principles based
upon The American Counseling Association (ACA). Practitioners should avoid to cause and do harm
to clients. Nonmaleficence is a fundamental principle that relates to do no harm. In the ACA Code of
Ethics A.4.b. refers to personal values counselors are aware of their own values, attitudes, beliefs, and

Anna Haywood s The Enormous Admiration And Approval Of...
In spite of the enormous admiration and approval of Eliza Haywood s novellas, which at the time of
their exact publication were genuine sale rivals to the works of writers such as pope and Swift,
traditional scholarship has attached little to no importance to the name of Haywood. Such scholarship,
however, is terribly injudicious and ill advised. As one of the creators of popular literature, especially
the influencial and well circulated novel, Haywood is one of the key figures in Eighteenth Century
literature whose name and influence has remained with us still to this day. Haywood s work has
always been revolutionary in theme as they all have a focal point largely resting upon the role of the
female within a patriarchal society, as well as dipping in to themes of the possibilities of female
empowerment and even the taboo matters of female promiscuity and sexual freedom. In Fantommina,
Haywood s revolutionary stand points on society come into relation with the concept of female
identity in a patriarchal civilization. In this troubling novella we are presented and forced to notice the
very notion that female identity is completely displaced by patriarchy, which forces women into
constricting and ultimately ineffective and defenseless roles. Fantomina: or love in a maze, is fittingly
labelled A masquerade Novel. It is very true that the centralized plot of the piece circles arounf the
masquerade as the protagonist constructs her herself several different personas

China s Threat to the Us Economy
China s Threat to the United States Economy
For the last twenty eight years, China has been quickly growing into one of the largest economies in
the world. China has accomplished this feat, in part, by radically changing their policies on trade and
free market interactions with other countries. During this process, China has bought approximately
one hundred trillion dollars of United States debt in the form of Treasury bills, notes, bonds, and
Inflation Protected Securities (Amadeo). This debt has given China leverage against the United States
which has enabled China to keep the value of the United States dollar high, while keeping the value of
the Chinese yuan low. As the inflation of the dollar continues to negatively affect the ... Show more

Instead, China could use their debt leverage to impact foreign trade policies and more importantly
domestic political policies that budget how the United States spends its tax dollars (Elwell 22). China
has become a perceived threat to the U.S. economy because of the increasing trade deficit between the
two countries, their ability to undercut production costs of similar products produced in the United
States, and the amount of leverage that China has over the United States due to amount of money that
has been lent by China. Although the United States has taken steps to close the trade deficit, such as
convincing China to raise prices on their exports, there is still a considerable gap (Prasad). The United
States government continues to print money that they simply can t afford, therefore, relying even more
heavily on China sustaining the value of their currency. Unless the United States is able to close the
trade deficit and regain control of our economic flexibility, the problems caused by foreign countries
owning our debt will remain eminent.

American Conquest Research Paper
According to the Anglo Saxon Chronicle on William I, the first Norman king was a very wise and
great man, and more honored and more powerful than any of his predecessors , but he also caused
castles to be built and oppressed the poor. 1 The portrait of William the Conqueror is very conflicted,
especially in this source since it was written from an Anglo Saxon perspective, or, in other words,
from the perspective of the loser side of the 1066 Hastings battle. If the Norman Conquest had any
impact on England, it can certainly be expressed in terms of changes in the political balance of power.
I will argue, however, that the Norman Conquest did not radically change England, at least not on
every aspect, but certainly opened the way for deeper ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Firstly, William brought new incomes with his new lands, even if it still seems less important to the
huge Angevin empire of Henry II, that also included Aquitaine, Maine and Anjou. There was also a
decrease in land value, especially in the North after their two revolts against the king, which led to the
systematical destruction of the countryside by William I, to make sure that no army could ever be
raised from here. However, William also had a positive impact on the English economy, since he
developped the trade with the Continent, expanded the cities and encouraged urbanization and the
settlement of Jews, who could lend with interest and thus trigger the economic growth. William II
continued his father work but apparently increased the taxes. Thus, the Council, after William II s
death, required that his brother, Henry I, abolish all the previous taxes, fines, especially on marriage
and inheritance. Thus, Henry promised that all fines and debts which were owed to [his] brother [are]
remit[ted]. 4 Once again however, Henry II is way more striking in that matter. He invented two taxes,
the scutage that allows a vassal to pay money to the king instead on his military service, and the aid, a
special tax for marriages and knighting ceremonies. Thus, Henry II went even further and
institutionalized the taxes that the Normans previously unformely

Board Of Directors Essay
The board of directors is also highly influential to a corporation and should therefore also be held
accountable for supporting a corporation s ethical code of conduct. The board of directors is
responsible for looking out for the best interests of shareholders (Cross Miller, 2012). The board of
directors was designed to monitor executives, however in practice this is not always the case (Cross
Miller). Obviously this is monitoring is a necessary duty. A proposed change to ensure that the board
of directors is monitoring the corporation s top executives is to require that the board submit quarterly
a report on the financial information of the corporation as provided to the board by the CEO and CFO.
If this information does not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore a policy proposed is that auditing firms not be paid by corporations but rather by tax payers.
This will place additional burdens on taxpayers, but rather than experience another bailout, this easy to
fall into conflict of interest relationship needs to be prevented from ever occurring. Board of directors
can create a conflict of interest on their own by accepting large stock options from the corporations
they serve (PBS, 2002). These large incentives to serve can actually work to blind corporate board
members to unethical acts being carried out by corporate officials.
Shareholders
Shareholders are a key component to the ethical quality of a corporation. One may argue this is not the
case since they are not directly involved in the day to day operations of the corporation. However,
shareholders are investing their funds voluntarily in a corporation. Shareholders have a huge
responsibility to support companies that are positive ethical examples. Shareholders should spend time
researching a company before investing in the company so that they can be sure the company is truly
an ethical company. It can be easy to be distracted by the performance of a business, Enron investors
thought they were investing in a highly innovative energy company (Serving History, 2011).

According to Ms. Witsaman, evolution is not the theory of how life began, which is a common
misconception nowadays, but the theory of how life has changed over time. Theories are predictions
which are backed up by several evidences and supported by scientists. The evidences that scientists

embryology, biogeography, and biochemicals. Fossils are the remains of living things that once

I have to assume that the skulls that were closest to walking on four legs lived in environments with a
lot of trees and high grounds. That being said, now I have to assume that our ancestors eventually
found it easier to live in long plains and migrated which made them lose the need to be efficient on all
fours, thus leading to bipedalism.
Conclusion:
My hypothesis is was not supported since there was not a single organism that walked on four legs
according to my data. I realized that just the general shape and condition of the skull didn t correlate
with how old it was, but the cranial capacity was the major determining factor. Every time humans
evolved the need for their mental capacity increased and that s evident in the skulls: the oldest having
the smallest cranial capacity, the most recent having the largest cranial capacity. I also want to say that
according to my data, our ancestors didn t all just start walking on two legs one day, but the need to
walk on two legs wasn t there for a couple of our ancestors which is why some are so close to not
being able to walk on two legs at all. That leads me to say that bipedalism was not dependant on when
an organism was alive but where an organism was alive. As for prognathism, I also believe that

Things Fall Apart Gender Roles
103082
Introduction:
Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe is a masterpiece and a good representation of Africa. It shows
Africans conflict with white colonizers through Okonkwo s eyes who is the protagonist of the
narration that represents resistance. The novel, also, shows the nature of Igbo culture as the reader gets
an insight of religious values, Justice system, tradition and customs. In addition, Gender plays a
significant role in things fall apart as everything appears to be gendered such as yam seeds which is
associated with masculinity. Also, there are gender stereotypes that men and women are expected to fit
in. However, sometimes their desires might not meet the framework of femininity and masculinity. As
a result, a conflict between ones desires and societies expectations might take place. Igbo society
appears to be a patriarchal one, where men are superior to women and the more masculine the man is
the more titles he will get, which will gain him more respect. In this essay the ... Show more content

womanhood s association with weakness and fragility. Okonkwo hated anything feminine because of
his father who was a failure due to his effeminacy. Consequently, he works hard to fit into
masculinities framework. . It is obvious that Okonkow is a product of a patriarchal society where
gender role shaped if not all then art of his character. In order for a man to be masculine being good at

President Ulysses S. Grant Signed A Law Making Yellowstone...
Aliesha Seamons Mrs.Miller English 12A 15 September, 2016 On March 1, 1872, President Ulysses
S. Grant signed a law making Yellowstone National Park out of 3,468 square miles of land in
Wyoming, Idaho and Montana. The people of the United States wanted to preserve the land to let
future generations see the shooting geysers, bubbling hot pots, forests full of towering lodgepole
pines, sparkling lakes, and magnificent views of the stars at night. Of course, the land supported
unique animals such as bison, bald eagles, elk, grizzly bears, and wolves. However within the first 50
years of being open, the wolves were hunted to extinction. They were gone from the park for over 70
years. At that time, scientists and forest rangers realized that the absence of wolves causing problems
in the ecosystem; the elk population had grown out of control. Therefore, in 1995 the Fish and Game
Department reintroduced wolves, which has benefited the Yellowstone ecosystem in many ways.
However, the farmer and ranchers feel negatively about the reintroduction, feeling that wolves do
nothing other than wreak havoc on livestock and pose a dangerous threat to those visiting the park.
The wolves appear as a threat to the ecosystem of Yellowstone National Park, however they play a
vital role and keep the ecosystem balance. Today s culture encourages children to be scared of wolves.

  • 2. Who Is Elizabeth Bennet In Pride And Prejudice Somebody Wanted But So Paper Elizabeth Bennet, the main character in Pride and Prejudice, can be illustrated as witty, clever, and outspoken. Along with these traits, Elizabeth also suffered from being very judgmental, unforgiving, and overly confident. She was described as being the second most beautiful Bennet daughter, with brown, knowledgeable eyes, and a light and pleasing figure. Her family consisted of seven members, Mr. and Mrs. Bennet, Jane, Mary, Lydia, and Kitty (also known as Catherine). Elizabeth s family lives on a estate named Longborn, that is supported by roughly £2000 annually. The entire family can be ranked as gentlefolk, which categorized them as middle class to upper class. Because social connections was a huge determining factor in rank, the Bennet daughters were pressured to marry wealthy, from society, and also from Mrs. Bennet. With Jane outshining Elizabeth as far as looks, Elizabeth is prized as the most intelligent out of the family, making her a favorite of her father. Mrs. Bennet on the other hand, favorited Jane because of her looks, and Lydia for her eagerness for marriage. It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good ... When Elizabeth was at Pemberley with Mr. Darcy, she observed Mr. Darcy acting completely civil towards her and her aunt and uncle, even after she rejected his marriage proposal. This was the moment that Elizabeth started to consider her initial judgement of Mr. Darcy s character to be wrong. With the letter, his civility at Pemberley, and the saving of her sister, pointing towards Mr. Darcy s true character, Elizabeth finally realized that her pride and prejudice was blinding her from her love of Mr. Darcy. When Mr. Darcy returned to Longbourn, Elizabeth had changed her original opinion of him, and was willing to be Mrs. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. How Did Icarus Change Ovid s Life The story of Daedalus and Icarus, reflected Ovid s changing thoughts and morals of his personal life as he undergoes the life changing event of getting exiled by Emperor Augustus, through the characters of the poem. Ovid is born an Icarus, innocent and naive, with no idea of how much danger awaits him if he chooses to forsake his guide and soar in the boundless sky . Ovid s father planned for him to become a political official, sending him to Rome to get an education, and then Athens. Ovid s anxious father planned his future, as Daedalus planned Icarus s, in order to make sure their sons had prosperous steady lives. Perdix, after being murdered by Daedalus, was turned into the Partridge. The Partridge hides in shaded places by the leafy trees its nested eggs among the bush s twigs; , writes Ovid himself in Daedalus and Icarus, nor does it seek to rise in lofty flight, for it is mindful of its former fall. The Partridge keeps in the bushes, not all the way under the ground in poverty, as Ovid s father thought he would be, but also not high in the sky, bold and arrogant enough at the success of his career, which causes him to take risks. The Partridge enjoys a steady life, living the middle way. After Ovid s poem and a mistake , which he told his readers himself was the reason that he was exiled, he lived a relatively average life. He was miserable enough at first in his prison, but not because he lived in poverty, the bottom ground. He lived a relatively comfortable life, treated extremely well by inhabitants of Tomis, and as stated by Kenney, there are hints in the later poems that Ovid was even becoming reconciled to his fate when death released him. Ovid continued to write the poetry he so dearly loved, but they never reached the grand heights of his earlier successes. They attracted less attention, and made no bold statements anyone might find offensive. The once brilliant genius, Perdix, who had surpassed even Daedalus himself, had learned ... We evolve overtime and occasionally we have no control of it. Central Americans migrate to America to have a better life but unfortunately, society alters their individuality. Identity forms solely on religion, language, and society. Transnationalism can affect Central Americans in many ways shaping their identity and who they are. Christian Disciples have faith and commitment to God, they use their own time to give service others; they sacrifice their home life possessions and money. Christian Disciples preach to others about the Good Doings of Jesus and the excellence of God. Christian Disciples resist other temptations. This means that like salt we should purify, preserve and flavour other people s lives. We should also be like light in that we are visible Christianity is something that should be seen we should be a guide like a light and also a warning. A true disciple follows the commandments presented by Jesus on Mount Sinai. These 10 commandments are often referred to as the law and they are a basis as to how we should live our lives. As a disciple, you should also be forgiving. If someone sins against you, you should not only forgive him seven times as Peter thought; but seventy times seven as Jesus tells us. This means there is no limit as to how many times we should forgive someone. Jesus used the parable of the unforgiving servant to demonstrate this. He tells of a king who was owed a great sum of money by one of his servants. The king let the servant off with this though. A man owed the servant a small amount of money and he still asked for it. The king found out about this and re instated his debt. The servant should have shown the same forgiveness that he was shown. Jesus used another story to indicate how we should lead our lives. He told of two house builders; one who built his house on a rock and one on sand. Jesus explained that anyone who hears the words and acts on them was like the wise man that built his ... Fatal shootings are becoming common. Police officers are not held accountable for the killings they have committed and will continue to commit. Several people believe in the use of excessive force, otherwise known as police brutality, to claim territories and correct others. Therefore, it is important to analyze the different views of this aspect. New York Times bestseller Between the World and Me written by Ta Nehisi Coates compares historical racism to racism in America today. They are saying politicians turn a blind eye towards police brutality to make the people of the public feel safe. Written by Robert Staples the article White Power, Black Crime, and Racial Politics begins by explaining the arrest of Henry Louis Gates Jr., a Harvard professor, who was arrested because he was attempting to get into his own house. • 8. Uniform Commercial Code 2b the A new law will probably be introduced into state legislatures which will govern all contracts for the development, sale, licensing, and support of computer software. This law, which has been in development for about ten years, will be an amendment to the Uniform Commercial Code. The amendment is called Article 2B (Law of Licensing) and is loosely based on UCC Article 2 (Law of Sales), which governs sales of goods in all 50 states. A joint committee of the National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws (NCCUSL) and the American Law Institute is drafting the changes to the UCC. The UCC was drafted in the 1950 #8217;s and currently governs the sales of goods but not products like software, which are licensed, not sold. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Article 2B says that the publisher doesn #8217;t have to show software customers the terms until after the sale, when it #8217;s too late to do comparison shopping. By then, the consumer has already started installing the software. The customer is deemed to have accepted the terms of the contract if he/she uses the product instead of returning it. All of the terms of the agreement are now fully enforceable as if the consumer had reviewed, discussed, and signed a paper contract before the sale. Many of the shrink wrap software licenses say that once you break the seal and use the software, you #8217;re releasing the vendor from all warranties. Basically, the software has been sold #8220;as is #8221; and you #8217;ve given up your legal recourse if it doesn #8217;t perform as claimed, damages your computer, or has bugs that lead to errors. Under the Magnuson Moss Warranty Improvement Act customers are entitled to see the warranty of any goods sold for $15 or more. It is not unreasonable to assume that software purchased for home usage would be covered by the Act. But software customers rarely get to see the warranties provided with software until after the sale. • 10. Essay about Racial Discrimination in the U.S. Justice System Racial Discrimination in the U.S. Justice System Introduction In modern day America the issue of racial discrimination in the criminal justice system is controversial because there is substantial evidence confirming both individual and systemic biases. While there is reason to believe that there are discriminatory elements at every step of the judicial process, this treatment will investigate and attempt to elucidate such elements in two of the most critical judicial junctures, criminal apprehension and prosecution. Criminal Apprehension Statistical accounts show consistent accord in that African Americans are disproportionately arrested over whites. What is much less lucid, however, is the real reason for this disparity. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While both sides of this deeply entrenched controversy substantiate meaningful claims, neither of their arguments is exhaustive, although Walker, Spohn, and DeLone s case is much more convincing. African American arrest statistics are best understood as the convergence of both a somewhat higher incidence of crime as well as racial discrimination in the criminal justice system. Although higher incidence of crime may initially appear to justify higher arrest rates, there is significant evidence demonstrating that not only is African American crime exaggerated by a racially discriminatory criminal justice system (one of the products of which is disparate arrest rates), the greater crime rates in and of themselves are a result of economic inequality. In order to understand the nature of the statistical disparity, the first aspect that must be examined is necessarily the statistics themselves. Recent data (1998) shows that more than two out of every three arrested persons are white (67.6%) and that African Americans account for only 30% of all arrests. More striking is the data adjusted per capita: African Americans are two and a half times as likely to be arrested as whites, and are even more over represented in violent crimes, for which they are over three times as likely to be arrested. African Americans are five times as likely to be arrested in cases of robbery or murder (Walker et al., 39). There is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Reformation was full of war and inventions that many had never seen before, affecting the religious and social political systems in positive and negative ways. The first event in the Reformation was the Printing Press. The Printing Press enabled the circulation of the bible, starting the spread of Christianity and the Catholics. The Printing Press was created by Johannes Gutenberg in 1450. Before the Printing Press the bible had to be printed by hand, which meant that the copies had to be written word for word. There were wars during this Reformation in the 16th and 17th century that took place in many parts of Europe. The first wars took place in central and southern Europe, between the Christians and the Muslims. The Christians and the Muslims had been fighting each other ever since the Crusades from the 11th to the 13th century; also in the Spanish Reconquista from the 8th to the 15th century; and the Ottoman Wars in Europe from the 15th to 19th century. The wars that were the longest lasting were the wars between the Protestant and the Catholics. These wars were some of the bloodiest wars in the European wars of religion. The war between the Protestants and Catholics is called the 30 Year s War which was the longest in the war of religions. The Counter Reformation came better late than never as they were much needed. The Council of Trent had a major role in the counter. The Council of Trent fought for the Reformers in every way possible. The Council of Trent believed in the areas of tradition, original sin, justification, sacraments, the holy masses, and the veneration (honoring) of saints. The Council of Trent and the Catholics fought to become more spiritual, educated, and literate. The reformation was a long and bloody time. There are many ways to look at this time period. • 12. Charter Schools Vs. School Schools To quote Jonathan Stith, Where you see the charters providing an avenue of escape for some, it hasn t been for the majority, (Zernike 4). In some cities charter schools are educating more that half the students in some American cities (Zernike 1). These charter schools make promises to parents and students that are hard to pass up in many cities, where public education is lacking and private education is out of reach for many. Charter schools exist all across America, in forty two states and Washington D.C.(Oliver). These charter schools promise choice, opportunities for better and safer education, as well as strive to to close the achievement gap occurring in schools across America. (Oliver). The question is: are charter schools living up to this promise? I believe that many charter schools are failing to follow through on these promises and, that changes should be made in order to provide a more genuine source of educational opportunity to students across America. The first promise of charter schools I would like to focus on is that on choice. While charter schools offer a lot of choice there is still no good choice (K Zernike 1.) Charter schools typically pop up most frequently in urban areas often where they are unneeded. Charter schools will set up wherever space is available, sometimes within blocks from each other according to Kate Zernike, making it easier to find a charter school than to buy a carton of milk, (K Zernike 1). • 13. Haier Case Study Haier Case Study 1. Discuss the primary reasons why Haier moves from a single and dominant business strategy to a diversified strategy. The single and dominant business strategy, which denote relatively low levels of diversification, more fully diversified firms are classified into related and unrelated categories. A firm is related through its diversification when there are several links between its business units; for example, units may share products or services, technologies, or distribution channels. The more links among businesses, the more constrained is the relatedness of diversification. Unrelateness refers to the absence of direct links between businesses. 참고 : http://wenku.baidu.com/view/6a080e260722192e4536f624 2. ... The ceremony of the Lord s Supper at Marburg in 1529 triggered numerous heartless debates amongst two protagonists Luther and Zwingli. Throughout the Reformation era, debates played an important role, as they were a main mechanism in familiarizing the Reformation into countless towns. Debates were a means of resolving differences amongst like minded Protestant groups. Landgrave Philip of Hesse had summoned the Hessian Chancellor Feige to send for both Luther and Zwingli for the express and urgent purpose of settling their dispute over the Lord s Supper. After Oecolampadius spoke, Zwingli said the Lord s Supper must be symbolic. It is ever apparent and even required by the article of faith: taken up into heaven, seated at the right hand of the Father (p. 433). It is ridiculous to search for him in the Lord s Supper the identical time in which Christ is telling individuals that he is located in heaven. One and the identical body cannot be in dissimilar locations. Zwingli stated they call upon Luther to provide glory to God as well as to stop begging the query. Zwingli questioned the proof of Luther s position as Zwingli willingly contemplates the words Luther says extremely carefully. He knew Luther was trying to outwit him. At this point Zwingli stands by the sixth chapter of John, verse 63, and says that he will not be shaken from it. Due to the excerpt from the vivacious and often brutal debate between Zwingli and Luther, I believe that the Reformation debates led to further hostility rather than compromise and unity between religious and sectarian opponents. In spite of the enormous admiration and approval of Eliza Haywood s novellas, which at the time of their exact publication were genuine sale rivals to the works of writers such as pope and Swift, traditional scholarship has attached little to no importance to the name of Haywood. Such scholarship, however, is terribly injudicious and ill advised. As one of the creators of popular literature, especially the influencial and well circulated novel, Haywood is one of the key figures in Eighteenth Century literature whose name and influence has remained with us still to this day. Haywood s work has always been revolutionary in theme as they all have a focal point largely resting upon the role of the female within a patriarchal society, as well as dipping in to themes of the possibilities of female empowerment and even the taboo matters of female promiscuity and sexual freedom. In Fantommina, Haywood s revolutionary stand points on society come into relation with the concept of female identity in a patriarchal civilization. In this troubling novella we are presented and forced to notice the very notion that female identity is completely displaced by patriarchy, which forces women into constricting and ultimately ineffective and defenseless roles. During this process, China has bought approximately one hundred trillion dollars of United States debt in the form of Treasury bills, notes, bonds, and Inflation Protected Securities (Amadeo). Instead, China could use their debt leverage to impact foreign trade policies and more importantly domestic political policies that budget how the United States spends its tax dollars (Elwell 22). Although the United States has taken steps to close the trade deficit, such as convincing China to raise prices on their exports, there is still a considerable gap (Prasad).
