Anton Chigurh s No Country For Old Men
Throughout the thrilling page turner No Country For Old Men, readers are introduced to a psychotic
murderer who seemingly embodies only villainous traits. As the story progresses and comes to a close,
many readers would argue that the novel s primary antagonist Anton Chigurh was a sociopathic killer
with no personal values or morals. I will argue that despite being a sociopathic killer, Anton Chirgurh
does have a code of ethics that he abides to and I will do so by investigating his ideologies about fate
and how they controlled him during a game of coin toss in a gas station For the duration of NCFOM,
Anton Chigurh abided by the rules of fate and considered himself it s dealer. Despite his lack of
human empathy, Chigurh did have a strict ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Chigurh finds himself operating fate with the uneasy owner of a small gas station. From the
emergence of the banter, it is clear that Chigurh intends to be straight forward. He states clearly that
the man married into his estate, despite the man s embarrassed efforts to deny his dependency on his
wife. This moment of the conversation could be seen as Chigurh s triggering moment. That s the way
it is, Chigurh says to the man. He has found himself here at this moment and time and wants to
determine the man s fate. Chigurh questions the man about coin tosses, and he his curious to know the
man s luck in the game of chance. By flipping the coin, Chigurh turns himself over to fate. He uses the
coin as a guide in what he should do next. The coin will tell him how to act upon the man standing
behind the counter. The man hesitates to call the coin toss, but Chigurh insists knowing fate must be
carried out. By insisting the gas station owner calls the coin toss, Chiurgh demonstrates his loyalty to
his moral system. He follows closely and almost religiously to the rules of chance and won t stop until
he enforces the man s destiny. The man believes in the traditional rules of a coin toss, and says he has

Introduction 1.1 Research problem Harry Markowitz is one of the founders of the theory of finance,
the fastest growing economic sciences. This lays the foundation for the applied financial management
in a company, using the tools and methods of investigation with a help of which any company can
analyze its financial position, to assess the value of its capital and its structure, to select the best
investment project and to manage it or to decide how and how many shares or bonds to issue.
Markowitz s approach to the problem of portfolio selection suggests that the investor tries to solve two
problems: to maximize the expected return at a given level of risk or minimize uncertainty (risk) at a
given level of expected return. Therefore, the aim of this course work review the Markowitz portfolio
allocation theory as a way of creating the optimal and efficient investment portfolio and highlight its
importance in modern world. This paper tries to answer two fundamental questions: first, what is the
main idea behind Markowitz allocation theory, and the second, how valid is Markowitz theory

Trade Unions And The Workplace
Trade Unions are organisations and purpose is to look after employees in the workplace and protect
their rights. The way trade unions work, is that an employee needs to become a member of a specific
trade union, pays a fee to invest in the union s operations. In turn trade unions help employees with
things such as health and safety in the workplace, protection from discrimination, proper pay and
leave entitlements, making sure that the workers rights are protected etc. Unions also aim to protect
the interests of a union member for example, they commence campaigns and negotiations for
increased pay rates and they also try to improve working conditions such as health and safety.
Employees generally work in different jobs and industries so ... Show more content on

The rights of this casual worker were also broken which were Anti Discrimination, Unfair Dismissal
which will all be addressed below. For the purpose of this report, only rights relating to this case will
be detailed below. NES RIGHTS: The National Employment Standards are ten rights the employees
are entitled to and they all apply to any worker in any job. The minimum NES rights include
provisions relating to the number of hours worked, such as the right to work no more than a maximum
weekly total of hours, and the right to request flexible working arrangements (including variation of
hours). Parental leave and Related Entitlements should be available to all non casual employees that
have family responsibilities. Annual leave is another provision under the NES rights to which all (non
casual) employees are entitled, and allows employees to take holidays. When an employee is ill, or has
family issues etc, Personal Carer s and Compassionate leave entitles them to take time off to deal with
their problems. Community service leave includes employees such as casual workers who can have
leave for certain activities such as voluntary emergency management activities and so forth. Public
holidays are days were employees get to have a day from their work and spend their own time with
whatever they have. Long service leave is when workers get long service leave after they

Investigating Hooke s Law And The Euler Bernoulli Bending...
In this lab, deflection and strain are measured in an attempt to confirm Hooke s law and the Euler
Bernoulli bending beam theory. In addition, the measured data allows us to calculate the modulus of
elasticity (Young s Modulus) or E of the cantilever beam. Through the course of the experiment our
observations revealed that the addition of weights deformed the beam in response to the applied stress.
This deformation can be modeled using the Euler Bernoulli beam bending theory. Our
experimentation and calculations revealed that our data did indeed prove the theories mentioned in
this lab. Furthermore, our values for the modulus of elasticity or E came within the range of
established values found online.
Engineering involves a wide array of problems that must be overcome. A great deal of time is spent
researching materials and their properties. Materials compromise all aspects of our society, from
buildings to roads to even the equipment that was used in this lab. Problems arise in regards to how
strong or flexible the material is, with the official terms being stress, strain, and elasticity. Improper
use of such materials results in tragedies such as the Tacoma Narrows Bridge in Washington that failed
to due resonance and stress beyond its elastic limit [1].
This lab teaches us the importance of stress, strain, and elasticity. Their relationships are explored
through the deformation of a cantilever beam. Stress is introduced as weights and the beams
experiences strain.

Social Media Has An Inopportune Impact On Society
Technology has been improving yearly and has now become part of many people s life. Humans have
become dependent on technology for many things like to communicate, to learn, to create things, to
advertise, the list is endless. Access to the internet has become easier even in underdeveloped
countries. This means that almost anyone can post, share, comment, and do many different functions
that social media allows to do.
Considering that technology is easy to access and that people depend on it, it is almost impossible to
not have a controversial conversation over it. Some people believe that posting on social media has an
inopportune impact on society. However, there are a lot of positive impacts social media has on
society. Social media bring people together and helps society in a lot of ways. Posting to social media
comes with responsibilities since what is posted could not be taken lightly by someone else however,
there should be no fear in posting since the freedom to do so is there for the taking and can benefit in
many ways. First and foremost, social media was made to share ideas. In order to share ideas a way
for things to be published and seen by others had to be created. Social media is defined as the ability
to use the internet to share and communicate instantly with others (historycooperative.org). The
developers of social media applications such as Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, and many
more, found a way to make this possible. In Facebook and

Comparison of Parenting Styles
It can be said for most parents that they want their children to grow up to be successful contributing
members of society. Being a parent is a difficult, yet rewarding task. But why do some types of
parenting result in juvenile delinquency while others find success. There are four generally recognized
parenting styles and are categorized: authoritarian, permissive, neglectful, and authoritative. This
essay will break down the various styles, its type(s) of discipline and effectiveness. The authoritarian
style of parenting is control focused and militaristic in approach. This parent has high expectations
and demands strict obedience. They often rule by fear and punishment. Dr. Gwen Dewar states, ...

1. Knowledge: Do you consider Pinterest a form of disruptive or sustaining technology?
Disruptive technology is a new way of doing something that initially does not meet the needs of
existing customers. This type of technology tends to open new markets and destroy old ones. While, a
sustaining technology produces an improved product that customers are eager to buy. This technology
provides better, faster and cheaper products on established markets.
I think that Pinterest is a sustaining technology. Indeed, it s a social network like Facebook or twitter

Business Plan For A Business
After ten years in the corporate world, I am ready to start my own business. Although I do not have
experience in starting a business, I have knowledge in sales, marketing, management, accounting and
finance. Owning a franchise business will allow me to gain knowledge by experience and from other
franchisors. Attached is four specific franchises I have carefully chose from the nutrition, children s
fitness, health and beauty categories that I could successfully operate without having experience in
owning a business. There are many fields available in the franchises business. I have chosen Massage
Envy, Jamba Juice, GNC, and Gymboree Play and Music as the four best franchise options that I
could operate successfully. In addition, this report demonstrates the four franchises and how they are
examined according to the nature of the business, the financial requirements, the level of support the
company provides, and the locations in which the franchises are available in each of the four
franchises. Furthermore, secondary research, and a compare and contrast to each of the franchise s
competitors are based on the four criteria is included into the report.

Billy Collins Poetry Analysis
My analysis is on introduction to poetry by Billy Collins. Collins relays the message that readers
should be patient and open minded when reading poems in order to see the meaning. Poetry is
something to experience by going inside of it. There is a heavy use of metaphors in this poem. The
first line, I ask them to take a poem and hold it up to the light like a color slide resembles that
sometimes you have to look at something in a different way or in a different light in order to see the
variations. Collins is asking the reader to look at the poem in a different way, not the way you would
typically read something. I also interpret the color slide as not just a brightly colored picture, but also
an image shown on a screen that makes you ask the questions what are they doing? Where are they?
And what s going on in the picture? By referencing an image on the slide it also references something
that holds image, and holds information that can appear dark or ... Show more content on

It makes the reader experience the sound or energy of the poem such as danger, anticipation, or
excitement. The part of the poem that says I say drop a mouse into a poem and watch him probe his
way out has great interpretation because sometimes it a poem you can get lost in all the different
meanings. Collins wants you to get inside of the poem and really explore it. This also gives a clear
image of a mouse in a maze working through our problem of how to get out. It s not a straight shot
from the beginning of a poem to the end, it is an intricate maze. When the poem reads or walk inside
the poem s room and feel the walls for a light switch is in reference to when you are in the dark about
what the meaning is and you want the light of understanding to be turned on. It s as if Collins is asking

Functionalism And The Inverted Spectrum
Imagine walking past a garden with an assortment of flowers. Now close your eyes and take in each
distinguishing familiar smell. As you take a whiff you smell the differences between the roses, lilies,
and even tulips. We can tell the sound of a drum from that of a gong; the touch of cool, smooth marble
as we run our fingers over it distinctively feeling the difference from that of sandpaper. Our everyday
lives are continuous experiences of sensations. These sensations have characteristic qualitative
features, which are called phenomenal , phenomenological or sensory qualities. In philosophical terms
these sensations can be referred to as qualia, which are defined as properties of experiences that type
them in phenomenological respects .
The understanding on the knowledge of other minds has provided a puzzle known as the inverted
spectrum. This possibility has emerged as an important challenge to functionalist accounts of qualia.
Functionalism is committed to defining mental states in terms of their cause and effects . By
identifying sensory events with casual roles, however, functionalism appears to be missing qualitative
aspects all together. The topic of spectrum inversion has often been raised as a contradiction to
functionalism, as well as other materialist theories about consciousness. These negates to
functionalism show that even when all the relevant physical facts are held constant, the facts about
qualia can still vary, hence that the phenomenal must be over

Gender Imbalance In Fast Food Advertising
When you see a fast food commercial or watch most fast food advertisements, I bet you don t notice
the problems behind the main content of the commercials. You just see either beautiful women, half
naked, playing with their food, entertaining a man. or eating something that indicates that she s
healthy. Or you might also see a man happily enjoying a steak or any meat of any kind while being
macho with his boys. Another thing you might see is a man taking the lead in the commercial and
having a woman as his silent, sexy partner who in some way contributes to selling a product. The
problems that you failed you see are the oversexualization, animalization, and objectification of
women. Most of the fast food commercials that we see in our daily lives are usually presenting bad
images and representation of women. Though, it is argued that fast food commercials are more aware
of these issues that they present; I believe there is a gender imbalance in fast food advertisements. To
begin, men being superior to women in fast food advertisements have always been around since the
invention of fast food. As time comes along, advertisers have tried to make these issues less obvious.
Advertisers use the heteronormative method for their commercials. In Carrie Packwood Freeman and

Abstract This paper provides an overview of the ongoing developments and research efforts on
nanowires. It is a brief survey of the types of materials used and the applications associated with
nanowire research. It is a method combining laser ablation, cluster formation and vapour liquid solid
growth
(VLS). In this process, laser ablation was used to prepare nanometer diameter catalyst clusters that
define the size of wires produced by VLS growth. This approach was used to prepare bulk quantities
of uniform single crystal silicon and germanium nanowires with diameters of 6 20 and 3 9 nm. Studies
carried out with different conditions and catalyst materials confirmed the central detail of the growth

II. NANOWIRE SYNTHESIS
Many of the papers included in this survey concentrated on methods or materials used to synthesize
nanowires. Most nanowire synthesis occurs via Vapor Liquid Solid (VLS) processes. VLS processes
use a liquid catalyst to draw components out of a vapor phase and deposit them in a solid phase. While
terms such as laser ablation and chemical vapor deposition may often be used to describe the synthesis
technique used in a particular experiment, this commonly refers only to the means by which the vapor
phase is produced or transported. For example, laser ablation uses a laser to vaporize a source
material, forming the vapor phase that is absorbed and later deposited by the catalyst droplet as the
nanowire grows.
Silicon nanowires often are synthesized through VLS processes [1 3]. Specifically, a substrate is
coated with gold nanoparticles and then heated until the gold melts and forms tiny droplets. A silicon
containing vapor, typically silane, or
SiH4, is then passed over the substrate. At the vapor gold interface, silicon atoms are stripped from the
silane and are absorbed into the nanoparticles. When the saturation limit of silicon in gold has been
reached, the silicon precipitates out of the droplet onto the substrate.
This precipitate builds up and lifts the catalyst away from the substrate, giving

to the experiment. One thing that the team had knowledge on was on the structure, and function of the
heart. The heart is an organ that pumps blood throughout the body. The body relies on the heart
because the heart has to pump blood to the body. The heart receives blood from the body, which it
then sends to the lungs. The lungs give oxygen to the blood. That blood then goes back to the heart,
where the heart pumps it back to the body. The body needs oxygen because it needs oxygen for
energy, which is why the heart is very important for the body. Without the heart, there is no blood that
travels through the body, which finally means no oxygen.
To reach the body, the oxygen filled blood has to travel through the arteries. The arteries are

If you re not going to protect your family, who is? .
Self obsession is one of the issues that were discussed in the interview of Oprah Winfrey and Michael
Moore. It appears to me that people have forgotten how to talk things out peacefully anymore, it is
also frightening to realise that that almost all of the citizens in America owned a personal gun. Is
violence the best way of defence? The culture of possessing a gun just goes to prove how insecure
they are in their country. The reason for the possession of a gun most people had was due to self
defence. However, in the case of the killings that had occurred within Columbine high school, as far as
I know, the students owned the guns and had planned the mass killings ahead of times, they told their
friends about the idea of mass murder, but nobody took them seriously. The impression of getting a

if people owned guns for the sake of having one. If more guns made people safer then America would
be one of the safest countries in the world, but it isn t, it s the opposite.
In addition, the interview of Oprah Winfrey with Michael Moore shows what a huge impact the
documentary had on its viewers. It opened up all sorts of controversy and sets people thinking about
why we have so much anger and violence. It

Definition Of Failure Essay
Failure Everyone in this world is different. We all have different personalities, looks, and ways of
doing things, but one thing we all have in common is failure. At some point and time, in any person s
life, they have failed at a task. Regardless of how little or how small the letdown, we all have
experienced it a time or two in our lives. The definition of failure is simply the lack of success, which
can completely destroy a person, or motivate them to become better. Everyone has experienced
failure, but what a person does after that failure is what arrays them separately from the crowd.
Personally, I have experienced failure often, but not as often as my success. As a young person trying
to figure out the rest if my life, I have learned a lot of information about myself while in the process of
turning my failures into successes. I have discovered my strengths, weaknesses, and what motivates

find myself in situations where I have failed, it later drives me to try again, and to keep pushing

Analysis Of Just Do What The Pilot Tells You
Just Do What You Are Told
What if one continued to do what they were told no matter the consequences? The author, Theodore
Dalrymple, is a British physician who discusses why blind obedience is discouraged. His article, Just
Do What the Pilot Tells You , was first published in the New Statesman. In this specific article, he
touches on points in our lives when we are supposed to do what we are told. Disobedience is when a
person chooses to disobey some sort of order they were directed to do. The main point that the author
is trying to make is that neither obedience or disobedience should be more prominent than the other.
Although Dalrymple seems to be explaining reasons that people choose to obey or disobey, he is

But, on the other hand, one could essentially be follower and does not make their own choices. He is
also implying that the findings of Milgram s experiment may in fact not be true. The author relies on
the point that his experiment was heavily supported by the fact that the participants were being lied to.
The author also uses things like examples and past experiences to get his central idea about obey and
disobey across. He uses the example of a social worker from a hospital. In this example, he goes about
it by asking the women if she is against all authority. She replies stating that she is strongly against
any type of authority, but she later realized that she was not completely against it because she was
allowing the pilot to fly the plane. During this section of the story, the author once again brings up
Milgram s experiment. Dalrymple states that according to Milgram, people are only doing what they
are told. He also examines the fact that during the experiment why people chose to keep going with it
even though they did not agree. According to the writer, this type of obedience would be blind because
the person is not thinking for themselves but instead just following orders. This applies

Immigration 310
Assignment 4
Mexican American, Chinese American and Vietnamese American make up the 1.5 and second
generation today in US. The majority of these immigrants come from the humblest sectors of their
society on average they have only a few years of schooling or no schooling, limited urban job skills
and little or no knowledge of English. Immigrants to the United States are usually called first
generation Americans, regardless of their citizenship status, and their children second generation
Americans.
The difference between the pervious generation and second generation is that pervious generation
immigrants conflicted between loyalty to their native country and desire to belong in the new country
while the second generations are not. According the article Becoming Ethnic or Becoming American
assert that Mexican Americans were not considering themselves as American because they realized
that the other Americans were seeing them as Brown color and not belonging to America. Another
example in that article was the Peter who was a Chinese born in America, and graduated on of the best
universities in the US and works a large law office in Los Angles, The article points out that peter
consider himself as an American but when their clients asked him who are you his response was I am
an American but they didn t accept that answer because they were expecting him to say I am Chinese.

Comparison Of Calista Roy s And Betty Neuman
Throughout nursing, there are many theories that nurses may come across and use. Calista Roy s and
Betty Neuman are two theorists that use two different types of models to encompasses the health,
person, and the environment. Callista Roy uses a theory that promotes adaptation to the stimuli a
person may encounter. Betty Neuman uses a theory that promotes equilibrium in a time where a
person will encounter stress. These theories allow the nurse to bring a knowledge to learn more about
the person and the factors that influence their health. Although with any theory there are different
approaches in how the nursing plan is done, but with the patient in mind, it makes the difference in
care that is given and allows for better outcomes for the patient.
Roy s adaptation model is described as promoting a person s adaptation in the four adaptive models
which include physiologic needs, self concept, role function, and interdependent relations (Hood,
2014, p. 135). Roy uses the approach of adaptation in the response to external stimulus. A stimulus can
elicit a response, but it is the way that a person can adapt to the stimulus that will allow the person to
cope (Roy, 2014, p.135). For example, a person may encounter an illness but how the person deals
with it and the resources at hand will make the difference in their coping. Roy describes that there are
two coping mechanisms that can affect our mind and also our body systems (Hood, 2014, p.134).

The Ground Game Analysis
In most cases when ground games are mitigated from gaining positive yards on early downs it puts
quarterbacks in third and long passing situations. That doesn t necessarily throw your offense into an
abyss. Think about an offense like the Chargers that isn t built to set the tone by grounding and
pounding the football, but equipped through the aerial game with backs that are capable of getting out
in the clear as an extension of the ground game. Although the Chargers have lost dynamite pass
catching back Danny Woodhead (80 catches last season) for the season due to an ACL lead back
Melvin Gordon has been active in the passing game with 20 catches for 175 yards and two
touchdowns through the air. Without a top tier offensive line capable of mauling opponents at the line
of scrimmage or buying lots of time for QB Philip Rivers to deliver the football the five time Pro
Bowler has been flushed out of the pocket (throwing on the move) and forced to play at a faster pace.
To combat the O lines protection deficiencies, HC Mike McCoy s offensive philosophy has Rivers
working on a bevy of spread sets and quick passing concepts (swings passes, screens, drags, slants,
hitches, short in/out routes and quick dump offs to the backs to replace handoffs). That staple of the
Chargers offense has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Character Analysis Of Kenneth Grahame s The Wind In The...
The novel The Wind in the Willows portrayed numerous aspects of the author Kenneth Grahame s life
within its contents. Some of these aspects included social, psychological, and other components of the
author s life. Within his book parts of his life included were the people from his life. These people
were Kenneth Grahame s father, his son Alastair, and his friend Sir Arthur Quiller Couch. One of the
people from his life who was transformed into a memorable character was his son Alastair. The Wind
in the Willows was a novel based on bedtime stories about the character named Toad, the stories of
which were told to Alastair in effort to soothe him to sleep. When Kenneth took the stories and
adapted them into a novel, he used qualities from his son and used them in the character Mole. Mole
could easily be described as a mild mannered, as well as home loving animal. He was the first
character to be introduced in the story. Within the first chapter of the novel Mole ventured outside of
his underground home. Soon after coming outside Mole realized the fast moving pace of life around
the riverbank. Although cautious at first, Mole soon adapted with help from his new found friends.
Since birth Alastair had complications that made life increasingly more difficult as he grew up. One of
the largest complications that was faced by Alastair was that he was blinded in one eye since birth.
While also faced with other disabilities, Alastair s problem was the blindness he retained. Similar to
how Mole adapted to his surroundings by the riverbank, Alastair adapted to life with disabilities while
keeping a mild mannered attitude. In addition to the adaptation, Alastair accepted help from many
people like his father and mother like Mole accepted help from his friends. Mole went through
complications as well throughout the chapters within the novel. One of these complications is how
when Mole became impatient to meet Badger and went off on his own to find him, leading to him
becoming lost in the woods until his friend Rat finds him. A complication similar to what Mole went
through was how Alastair got ejected from many different schools until finally a school called Christ
Church accepted him. This memorable character of Mole can

Case Study On Cardiomyopathy
Cardiomyopathy is an uncommon presentation in hyperthyroid patients. There are very few case
reports of Throtoxic cardiomyopathy. The mechanism due to which cardiomyopathy occurs in
hyperthyroid patients is not very well understood. After extensive literature search, it was found that
some of the mechanisms which are described include genomic and non genomic and direct action of

Primary And Secondary Adrenal Insufficiency
Adrenal Insufficiency This paper describes the differences between primary and secondary adrenal
insufficiency. As health care providers it is important to be able to distinguish between the two and to
know how to treat the patient. It is also imperative that an acute adrenal crisis can be recognized. This
paper will discuss how to recognize and treat adrenal insufficiency.
Primary adrenal insufficiency Primary adrenal insufficiency occurs when the adrenal glands fail to
release glucocorticoids and mineralocorticoids, despite the release of adrenocorticotrophic hormone
(ACTH) from the pituitary, and may be fatal if untreated (Griffing, 2015). Margulies (2015) describes

Hamrahian, A.H., 2010). Other clinical and laboratory manifestations of primary adrenal insufficiency
are presented in Table 1.
Evaluation
A medical history is very important if the patient has any symptoms mentioned above, especially
hyperpigmentation of the skin or gums, it is often enough to raise a strong suspicion, prompting the
appropriate tests. The following tests are appropriate to order to diagnose adrenal insufficiency: Serum
chemistry, abnormalities are present in as many as 56% of patients. Hyponatremia is common
although not diagnostic; hyperkalemia, metabolic acidosis, and hypoglycemia also may be present.
However, the absence of laboratory abnormalities does not exclude the diagnosis of adrenal crisis.
Serum cortisol, less than 20 mcg/dL in severe stress or after ACTH stimulation is indicative of adrenal
insufficiency. ACTH test which is diagnostic, determine baseline serum cortisol, then administer
ACTH 250 mcg intravenous push (IVP), and then draw serum cortisol 30 and 60 minutes after ACTH
administration. An increase of less than nine mcg/dL is considered diagnostic of adrenal insufficiency.
CBC, anemia mild and nonspecific, lymphocytosis, and eosinophilia highly suggestive may be
present. Serum thyroid levels, assess for

Battle Of Britain Research Paper
Many can argue that the Battle of Britain could have been won by both sides of the war. Although
ultimately the British had the advantage. A few reasons for their victory was their use of radar, and
their strategies. There were over a hundred Canadian pilots that fought, and although the RAF only
recognizes 83 it is believed that the 23 that died were killed later on in the war. The Battle of Britain
was fought in the skies of Britain and over the English channel. The Germans had many disadvantages
such as having to fly overseas to attack the British flight. The battle began in July 1940 when Hitler
announced that they were attacking Britain on an operation called Operation Sealion . This was
supposed to be a battle of the seas. Although to make this easier ... Show more content on

For the RAF, pilots were urgently needed and the courses were short. Many lasting only about two
days with 10 hours of flying experience. The radar system the British used was invented by Robert
Watson Watt, and was virtually invaluable to the men who fought in the Battle of Britain. The radar
allowed Britain to track incoming German warplanes and gave the Fighter Command, (led by Sir
Hugh Dowding) sufficient time to get airborne and attack them. The radar systems were set up along
the South East part of England. They were dubbed the eyes of the RAF. The pilots of the Fighter
Command needed to be in the air as soon as possible in an effort to stop the Luftwaffe (German air
force) from capturing London. The radar gave them about 20 minutes in time to

Below is a diagram which illustrates how the attack overwhelmed the Web Server.
Executive Summary
The attack performed on the network had the intention of making the online services provided to
students unusable during a critical time of need for those systems. The attack was first performed by
acquiring the Administrator password for the systems and using each system to perform a large
quantity of requests for service to the web servers. By dissecting what occurred steps can be put in
place to prevent such an attack in the future. This attack can be summarized in a few bullets:
The attacker was allowed to install software without having Administrator rights

These programs detect when keystroke input is being directed to another location besides the currently
targeted window. Most programs will send an alert when such activity is detected providing a means
for early detection and removal before sensitive data is obtained.
For the actual attack that took place there are changes that need to be performed on both the client s
side as well as the server s side. These changes involve limiting the quantities of request either side
can make. For the client s I would recommend a firewall placed between them and the server which
would be configured to limit the amount of requests to be made to any outside source and either notify
and administrator or outright blocking additional requests beyond the threshold.
The same implementation should be made for the server as well. In the server s case the firewall
placed between it and any client should limit the quantity of connection from a source IP. The
unfortunate side of this, and why the client firewall be implemented, is that many clients can be
located behind one source IP address. This means that the server s firewall configuration needs to be
more lenient the the client firewall.
In addition to adding a firewall, the server itself should only allow a certain amount of it s CPU,
memory, and available bandwidth to processing these requests. The reason for this is that the
remaining resource availability allows for an administrator to gain access and

Misandry Jane Eyre
Men are sexist creatures who deserve every cruel act they ve inflicted on women for centuries. So say
the radical feminists of the 21rst century who follow misandry, which is the hatred of men. Charlotte
Bronte stood for the opposite as she believed in equality for all. She was against the public view that
only men were allowed to be in the political and public spheres of society while women didn t even
own themselves. In spite of the efforts produced by the feminists of the 19th century, misandry has
created a border between the feminists beliefs and and values. Furthermore, Charlotte Bronte s values
of social class and gender equality in Jane Eyre are perhaps in response to Abigail Adams Remember
the Ladies. This reaction to class and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jessa Crispin states, no human being on the planet held more value than any other human being. And
that was regardless of gender, regardless of race, in which she demonstrates a world that would allow
for true equality. Similarly Bronte states bone of his bone and flesh of his flesh where she illustrates a
solution into understanding that women are the same as men as women are made from the rib of
Adam. Another solution is given by Adams who mentions all men would be tyrants if they could (line
8), which she offers a solution Give up the harsh title of master for the more tender and endearing one
of friend (lines 14 15), in which she pleads that men would become a friend if only they didn t imitate
god. She reinstates the idea of having equality if only society would revise their values. Furthermore,
the solution for society is for men and women to start from the beginning and realize we are all the

Cloud Services for Synergetic Web Based Project
Management System
Introduction:
The paper deals with the current use of Project management in the software applications. Project
management is the science (and art) of organizing the components of a project, whether the
development of a new product or the launch of a new service. It is not something that s a part of
normal business operations. A project consumes resources and it has funding limits. Lehner (2010)
stated that project knowledge management process is playing a key role in the organizations and
reinforcing them to manage the entire activities of the organizations. In this paper we are presenting

Binary Opposition In Euripides
Binary Opposition in the Works of Euripides Binary opposition, as defined by Corey Marvin simply
describes a pair of theoretical opposites or thematic contrasts. Euripides uses binary opposition as an
effective literary device in both the Medea and the Bacchae. One of the overarching dichotomies in
both works is masculinity versus femininity. In the Medea, the protagonist flips the gender roles, and
in the Bacchae, Dionysus androgynous nature allows him to often adopt a feminine persona in the
play. Many binary oppositions are encompassed in that of masculinity versus femininity, a few of
which are aggressiveness versus docility, intelligence versus ignorance, and the understandable versus
the mysterious. Medea exhibits typical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These women, who are typically docile and reserved are the complete opposite while worshiping
Dionysus. They dance, make music and even hunt and kill animals with their bare hands, (Bacchae
736 737). . it is the Bacchae who kill Pentheus, dismissing forever the idea that they are purely
domestic. As the messenger relays, [a]ll the women, with blood spattered hands, were playing ball
with Pentheus flesh (1135). In the Medea, the dichotomy of intelligence versus ignorance is shown
when the protagonist s cunning is severely underestimated by all those around her. Jason believes that
she is foolish for carrying on as she does; he says, [y]ou women have come to such a point to think, if
things go right in bed, you have everything, (569 570) but he misses that she is angry about her station
in life and intends to change it. As Shirley A Barlow explains in Stereotype and Reversal in the
Medea, The protagonist is aware of more than the fact that she suffers and injustice. She is aware that
the root cause is beyond herself. (Barlow 160). Creon seems to glimpse what she is capable of when
he tells her that he fears her (282), but he still allows her to stay in Corinth for one more day, (355 6)
proving that he is ignorant after all. Medea is far more clever than the men around her and she knows
how to manipulate them. When she appeals to Creon (340) and later

  • 2. Anton Chigurh s No Country For Old Men Throughout the thrilling page turner No Country For Old Men, readers are introduced to a psychotic murderer who seemingly embodies only villainous traits. As the story progresses and comes to a close, many readers would argue that the novel s primary antagonist Anton Chigurh was a sociopathic killer with no personal values or morals. I will argue that despite being a sociopathic killer, Anton Chirgurh does have a code of ethics that he abides to and I will do so by investigating his ideologies about fate and how they controlled him during a game of coin toss in a gas station For the duration of NCFOM, Anton Chigurh abided by the rules of fate and considered himself it s dealer. Despite his lack of human empathy, Chigurh did have a strict ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Chigurh finds himself operating fate with the uneasy owner of a small gas station. From the emergence of the banter, it is clear that Chigurh intends to be straight forward. He states clearly that the man married into his estate, despite the man s embarrassed efforts to deny his dependency on his wife. This moment of the conversation could be seen as Chigurh s triggering moment. That s the way it is, Chigurh says to the man. He has found himself here at this moment and time and wants to determine the man s fate. Chigurh questions the man about coin tosses, and he his curious to know the man s luck in the game of chance. By flipping the coin, Chigurh turns himself over to fate. He uses the coin as a guide in what he should do next. The coin will tell him how to act upon the man standing behind the counter. The man hesitates to call the coin toss, but Chigurh insists knowing fate must be carried out. By insisting the gas station owner calls the coin toss, Chiurgh demonstrates his loyalty to his moral system. He follows closely and almost religiously to the rules of chance and won t stop until he enforces the man s destiny. The man believes in the traditional rules of a coin toss, and says he has ... This lays the foundation for the applied financial management in a company, using the tools and methods of investigation with a help of which any company can analyze its financial position, to assess the value of its capital and its structure, to select the best investment project and to manage it or to decide how and how many shares or bonds to issue. Markowitz s approach to the problem of portfolio selection suggests that the investor tries to solve two problems: to maximize the expected return at a given level of risk or minimize uncertainty (risk) at a given level of expected return. Therefore, the aim of this course work review the Markowitz portfolio allocation theory as a way of creating the optimal and efficient investment portfolio and highlight its importance in modern world. This paper tries to answer two fundamental questions: first, what is the main idea behind Markowitz allocation theory, and the second, how valid is Markowitz theory ... The minimum NES rights include provisions relating to the number of hours worked, such as the right to work no more than a maximum weekly total of hours, and the right to request flexible working arrangements (including variation of hours). Parental leave and Related Entitlements should be available to all non casual employees that have family responsibilities. Annual leave is another provision under the NES rights to which all (non casual) employees are entitled, and allows employees to take holidays. When an employee is ill, or has family issues etc, Personal Carer s and Compassionate leave entitles them to take time off to deal with their problems. • 5. Investigating Hooke s Law And The Euler Bernoulli Bending... In this lab, deflection and strain are measured in an attempt to confirm Hooke s law and the Euler Bernoulli bending beam theory. In addition, the measured data allows us to calculate the modulus of elasticity (Young s Modulus) or E of the cantilever beam. Through the course of the experiment our observations revealed that the addition of weights deformed the beam in response to the applied stress. This deformation can be modeled using the Euler Bernoulli beam bending theory. Our experimentation and calculations revealed that our data did indeed prove the theories mentioned in this lab. Furthermore, our values for the modulus of elasticity or E came within the range of established values found online. Engineering involves a wide array of problems that must be overcome. A great deal of time is spent researching materials and their properties. Materials compromise all aspects of our society, from buildings to roads to even the equipment that was used in this lab. Problems arise in regards to how strong or flexible the material is, with the official terms being stress, strain, and elasticity. Improper use of such materials results in tragedies such as the Tacoma Narrows Bridge in Washington that failed to due resonance and stress beyond its elastic limit [1]. This lab teaches us the importance of stress, strain, and elasticity. Their relationships are explored through the deformation of a cantilever beam. Stress is introduced as weights and the beams experiences strain. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The first line, I ask them to take a poem and hold it up to the light like a color slide resembles that sometimes you have to look at something in a different way or in a different light in order to see the variations. Collins is asking the reader to look at the poem in a different way, not the way you would typically read something. I also interpret the color slide as not just a brightly colored picture, but also an image shown on a screen that makes you ask the questions what are they doing? Where are they? • 13. Functionalism And The Inverted Spectrum Imagine walking past a garden with an assortment of flowers. Now close your eyes and take in each distinguishing familiar smell. As you take a whiff you smell the differences between the roses, lilies, and even tulips. We can tell the sound of a drum from that of a gong; the touch of cool, smooth marble as we run our fingers over it distinctively feeling the difference from that of sandpaper. Our everyday lives are continuous experiences of sensations. These sensations have characteristic qualitative features, which are called phenomenal , phenomenological or sensory qualities. In philosophical terms these sensations can be referred to as qualia, which are defined as properties of experiences that type them in phenomenological respects . The understanding on the knowledge of other minds has provided a puzzle known as the inverted spectrum. This possibility has emerged as an important challenge to functionalist accounts of qualia. Functionalism is committed to defining mental states in terms of their cause and effects . By identifying sensory events with casual roles, however, functionalism appears to be missing qualitative aspects all together. The topic of spectrum inversion has often been raised as a contradiction to functionalism, as well as other materialist theories about consciousness. These negates to functionalism show that even when all the relevant physical facts are held constant, the facts about qualia can still vary, hence that the phenomenal must be over ... Gender Imbalance In Fast Food Advertising When you see a fast food commercial or watch most fast food advertisements, I bet you don t notice the problems behind the main content of the commercials. You just see either beautiful women, half naked, playing with their food, entertaining a man. or eating something that indicates that she s healthy. Or you might also see a man happily enjoying a steak or any meat of any kind while being macho with his boys. Another thing you might see is a man taking the lead in the commercial and having a woman as his silent, sexy partner who in some way contributes to selling a product. The problems that you failed you see are the oversexualization, animalization, and objectification of women. Most of the fast food commercials that we see in our daily lives are usually presenting bad images and representation of women. Though, it is argued that fast food commercials are more aware of these issues that they present; I believe there is a gender imbalance in fast food advertisements. To begin, men being superior to women in fast food advertisements have always been around since the invention of fast food. As time comes along, advertisers have tried to make these issues less obvious. Advertisers use the heteronormative method for their commercials. In this process, laser ablation was used to prepare nanometer diameter catalyst clusters that define the size of wires produced by VLS growth. This approach was used to prepare bulk quantities of uniform single crystal silicon and germanium nanowires with diameters of 6 20 and 3 9 nm. NANOWIRE SYNTHESIS Many of the papers included in this survey concentrated on methods or materials used to synthesize nanowires. Most nanowire synthesis occurs via Vapor Liquid Solid (VLS) processes. VLS processes use a liquid catalyst to draw components out of a vapor phase and deposit them in a solid phase. While terms such as laser ablation and chemical vapor deposition may often be used to describe the synthesis technique used in a particular experiment, this commonly refers only to the means by which the vapor phase is produced or transported. For example, laser ablation uses a laser to vaporize a source material, forming the vapor phase that is absorbed and later deposited by the catalyst droplet as the nanowire grows. Silicon nanowires often are synthesized through VLS processes [1 3]. Specifically, a substrate is coated with gold nanoparticles and then heated until the gold melts and forms tiny droplets. A silicon containing vapor, typically silane, or SiH4, is then passed over the substrate. At the vapor gold interface, silicon atoms are stripped from the silane and are absorbed into the nanoparticles. When the saturation limit of silicon in gold has been reached, the silicon precipitates out of the droplet onto the substrate. This precipitate builds up and lifts the catalyst away from the substrate, giving ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The body relies on the heart because the heart has to pump blood to the body. The heart receives blood from the body, which it then sends to the lungs. The lungs give oxygen to the blood. That blood then goes back to the heart, where the heart pumps it back to the body. The body needs oxygen because it needs oxygen for energy, which is why the heart is very important for the body. At some point and time, in any person s life, they have failed at a task. Regardless of how little or how small the letdown, we all have experienced it a time or two in our lives. The definition of failure is simply the lack of success, which can completely destroy a person, or motivate them to become better. Everyone has experienced failure, but what a person does after that failure is what arrays them separately from the crowd. • 20. Analysis Of Just Do What The Pilot Tells You Just Do What You Are Told What if one continued to do what they were told no matter the consequences? The author, Theodore Dalrymple, is a British physician who discusses why blind obedience is discouraged. His article, Just Do What the Pilot Tells You , was first published in the New Statesman. In this specific article, he touches on points in our lives when we are supposed to do what we are told. Disobedience is when a person chooses to disobey some sort of order they were directed to do. The main point that the author is trying to make is that neither obedience or disobedience should be more prominent than the other. But, on the other hand, one could essentially be follower and does not make their own choices. He is also implying that the findings of Milgram s experiment may in fact not be true. The author relies on the point that his experiment was heavily supported by the fact that the participants were being lied to. The author also uses things like examples and past experiences to get his central idea about obey and disobey across. He uses the example of a social worker from a hospital. In this example, he goes about it by asking the women if she is against all authority. She replies stating that she is strongly against any type of authority, but she later realized that she was not completely against it because she was allowing the pilot to fly the plane. During this section of the story, the author once again brings up Milgram s experiment. Dalrymple states that according to Milgram, people are only doing what they are told. He also examines the fact that during the experiment why people chose to keep going with it even though they did not agree. According to the writer, this type of obedience would be blind because the person is not thinking for themselves but instead just following orders. This applies ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 23. Comparison Of Calista Roy s And Betty Neuman Throughout nursing, there are many theories that nurses may come across and use. Calista Roy s and Betty Neuman are two theorists that use two different types of models to encompasses the health, person, and the environment. Callista Roy uses a theory that promotes adaptation to the stimuli a person may encounter. Betty Neuman uses a theory that promotes equilibrium in a time where a person will encounter stress. These theories allow the nurse to bring a knowledge to learn more about the person and the factors that influence their health. Although with any theory there are different approaches in how the nursing plan is done, but with the patient in mind, it makes the difference in care that is given and allows for better outcomes for the patient. Roy s adaptation model is described as promoting a person s adaptation in the four adaptive models which include physiologic needs, self concept, role function, and interdependent relations (Hood, 2014, p. 135). Roy uses the approach of adaptation in the response to external stimulus. A stimulus can elicit a response, but it is the way that a person can adapt to the stimulus that will allow the person to cope (Roy, 2014, p.135). For example, a person may encounter an illness but how the person deals with it and the resources at hand will make the difference in their coping. Roy describes that there are two coping mechanisms that can affect our mind and also our body systems (Hood, 2014, p.134). Betty Neuman s system model uses ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 24. The Ground Game Analysis In most cases when ground games are mitigated from gaining positive yards on early downs it puts quarterbacks in third and long passing situations. That doesn t necessarily throw your offense into an abyss. Think about an offense like the Chargers that isn t built to set the tone by grounding and pounding the football, but equipped through the aerial game with backs that are capable of getting out in the clear as an extension of the ground game. Although the Chargers have lost dynamite pass catching back Danny Woodhead (80 catches last season) for the season due to an ACL lead back Melvin Gordon has been active in the passing game with 20 catches for 175 yards and two touchdowns through the air. Without a top tier offensive line capable of mauling opponents at the line of scrimmage or buying lots of time for QB Philip Rivers to deliver the football the five time Pro Bowler has been flushed out of the pocket (throwing on the move) and forced to play at a faster pace. To combat the O lines protection deficiencies, HC Mike McCoy s offensive philosophy has Rivers working on a bevy of spread sets and quick passing concepts (swings passes, screens, drags, slants, hitches, short in/out routes and quick dump offs to the backs to replace handoffs). Some of these aspects included social, psychological, and other components of the author s life. Within his book parts of his life included were the people from his life. These people were Kenneth Grahame s father, his son Alastair, and his friend Sir Arthur Quiller Couch. One of the people from his life who was transformed into a memorable character was his son Alastair. The Wind in the Willows was a novel based on bedtime stories about the character named Toad, the stories of which were told to Alastair in effort to soothe him to sleep. When Kenneth took the stories and adapted them into a novel, he used qualities from his son and used them in the character Mole. Mole could easily be described as a mild mannered, as well as home loving animal. He was the first character to be introduced in the story. Within the first chapter of the novel Mole ventured outside of his underground home. Soon after coming outside Mole realized the fast moving pace of life around the riverbank. Although cautious at first, Mole soon adapted with help from his new found friends. Since birth Alastair had complications that made life increasingly more difficult as he grew up. One of the largest complications that was faced by Alastair was that he was blinded in one eye since birth. While also faced with other disabilities, Alastair s problem was the blindness he retained. Similar to how Mole adapted to his surroundings by the riverbank, Alastair adapted to life with disabilities while keeping a mild mannered attitude. In addition to the adaptation, Alastair accepted help from many people like his father and mother like Mole accepted help from his friends. Mole went through complications as well throughout the chapters within the novel. One of these complications is how when Mole became impatient to meet Badger and went off on his own to find him, leading to him becoming lost in the woods until his friend Rat finds him. A complication similar to what Mole went through was how Alastair got ejected from many different schools until finally a school called Christ Church accepted him. The following tests are appropriate to order to diagnose adrenal insufficiency: Serum chemistry, abnormalities are present in as many as 56% of patients. Hyponatremia is common although not diagnostic; hyperkalemia, metabolic acidosis, and hypoglycemia also may be present. However, the absence of laboratory abnormalities does not exclude the diagnosis of adrenal crisis. Serum cortisol, less than 20 mcg/dL in severe stress or after ACTH stimulation is indicative of adrenal insufficiency. ACTH test which is diagnostic, determine baseline serum cortisol, then administer ACTH 250 mcg intravenous push (IVP), and then draw serum cortisol 30 and 60 minutes after ACTH administration. A few reasons for their victory was their use of radar, and their strategies. There were over a hundred Canadian pilots that fought, and although the RAF only recognizes 83 it is believed that the 23 that died were killed later on in the war. The Battle of Britain was fought in the skies of Britain and over the English channel. The Germans had many disadvantages such as having to fly overseas to attack the British flight. These changes involve limiting the quantities of request either side can make. For the client s I would recommend a firewall placed between them and the server which would be configured to limit the amount of requests to be made to any outside source and either notify and administrator or outright blocking additional requests beyond the threshold. The same implementation should be made for the server as well. In the server s case the firewall placed between it and any client should limit the quantity of connection from a source IP. The unfortunate side of this, and why the client firewall be implemented, is that many clients can be located behind one source IP address. This means that the server s firewall configuration needs to be more lenient the the client firewall. In addition to adding a firewall, the server itself should only allow a certain amount of it s CPU, memory, and available bandwidth to processing these requests. The reason for this is that the remaining resource availability allows for an administrator to gain access and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Binary Opposition In Euripides Binary Opposition in the Works of Euripides Binary opposition, as defined by Corey Marvin simply describes a pair of theoretical opposites or thematic contrasts. Euripides uses binary opposition as an effective literary device in both the Medea and the Bacchae. One of the overarching dichotomies in both works is masculinity versus femininity. In the Medea, the protagonist flips the gender roles, and in the Bacchae, Dionysus androgynous nature allows him to often adopt a feminine persona in the play. As the messenger relays, [a]ll the women, with blood spattered hands, were playing ball with Pentheus flesh (1135). In the Medea, the dichotomy of intelligence versus ignorance is shown when the protagonist s cunning is severely underestimated by all those around her.
