QUESTION 3
WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNT FROM AUDIENCE
FEEDBACK?
Firstly I created a SurveyMonkey to find out
what was the most popular genre film and
which people chose this. the most popular
film chosen was a thriller genre with around
30% if votes. Out of the 77 people I
surveyed, 70% were aged between 15-25
which is unsurprising as we used our school
email to send emails to he whole school.
This was unrepresentative as my school is a
boys school, so i asked a friend at the local
girls school to also send the link on a mass
email to her school. we also used our social
media (Facebook and Twitter) to invite
people and ask to respond to our survey.
Most people who use social media are in
this age category
We decided for this age group to be our primary
audience whilst 26-35 year olds are our secondary
target audience. It was interesting to see that 56% was
female and 44% was male.
With this mind we established our primary and
secondary audience and chose the plot and characters
in our proposed film. Baring in mind the majority of
people who voted thriller were girls, made it obvious
that we were to use a female protagonist.
Once this was established the production began and
we began to create drafts of our film. We asked
numerous different people for advice and feedback.
We had a mixed group as one of our audiences, then
we had an all girl audience. This was due to our
protagonist being female, and our target group being
predominately female.
To assure that I received
reliable audience feedback,
I created a focus group of
-Miles Bruce-Jones
-Nathan Gravestock
-Joe Grimes
-Cassie Seymour
-Sophie Grubb
-Sarah Keen
-Louise Campbell
-Hannah Mehew
-Leila Sabatti
-Oliver Rhoda
- Sophie Hargraves
-Sam Thompson
Joe Grimes
I also had a focus group of 7, 16-25 year old
females from group c2-e that enjoyed
viewing mainstream productions. I chose
these people as my target audience as the
first people were reliable and i can trust as at
school
I asked both groups 6 questions on:
What they liked?
What they didn’t like?
Did it appeal to them as a target audience?
Has it got a clear narrative
What is the genre?
Did the music/sound effects make the
narrative more tense?
Then asked for their improvements.
