12. Survey Results and Evaluation
Theses are most of the survey results that we have collected we are not able to show them all because some of them were
serious answers. We got 42 responses over all.
We asked a total of 8 questions which gave us lots of different information which we will be able to use in our opening title
sequence.
The gender and age question was asked because we wanted people of our target audience to answer which is females aged 14
– to late teens.
We then wanted to know what peoples favourite genre was because we wanted to find out how much the thriller genre
entertains people. We then asked if people liked the thriller genre because it indicated how many people would be interested in
watching a thriller film/opening title sequence even if it isn’t there favourite genre. We found out that thriller genre was one of
the genre of films that people didn’t favour but the majority (26) do like thriller films.
We wanted to know when people lasted watched a thriller film because it gave us a good indication to how popular they are
and how much they really get watched. We found out that most people last watched a thriller film 4 weeks or more ago which
shows us people don’t watch them very regularly but the next most popular answer was 2 to 3 weeks ago which shows that
some people do watch them. A problem with this questions is when we sent out the survey before many of the people who
answered would have had mock exams coming up so there main priority would not be watching films.
13. Survey Results and Evaluation
We then wanted to know who popular the idea of our opening title sequence was to find out if it was a good idea or not. We
found out that 34 people either liked our idea a lot or quite a lot which gave us a good indication that our idea will work well
for our target audience and will keep them entertained, but we did find out that 8 people did not like our idea much or at all.
We then looked at the individual responses (of the not at all category) to find our why they didn’t like it. One view was that it
was generic and cliché another view said that our opening title sequence was cliché, expected, remake. We then looked at the
no not much category and found out that three people think it sounds cliché two people think it sounds boring, one person
didn’t understand our description and one person didn't like thriller films
From this we concluded that most people really like the idea but other people think it could be cliché and boring. This has
given us some really good information to work from because we can make sure that we don’t make it cliché and that we make
sure it is not boring and that we keep people entertained and interested. This also means that we know what people don’t like
about thrillers and we can then avoid that in our opening title sequence
We were then interested in 3 words that they thought described our opening title sequence we did this to get a better idea of
what people though of it. The most common results we got were interesting, intense, suspense, active, intriguing, ‘on the edge
of your set’, exciting and adventures. This gives us a really good idea that people will like our opening title sequence and that it
is intriguing people and that they would watch it.
14. Survey Results and Evaluation
We wanted to know what people first thought of when they read ‘thriller film’. This was asked so that we could find out what
the common traits were that people thought about thriller films. We found out that a lot of people thought it would be exciting
or jumpy some people also thought of horror ghosts and death. We also found out that people of thought of things like
suspense, alert, fun, explosion, tense, enjoyable, will it be any good? These answers will be really helpful for us because it means
that we can make our opening title sequence some of these things and also make sure that we make it good and entertaining
because a few people questioned that.
